Fans Predict WWE NXT Star Name Change After Trademark Filing

In WWE NXT, Sol Ruca has proven to be a star on the rise, but now the popular young Superstar could be waiting for a significant name change. Recently, WWE filed a trademark for Kaylx with the USPTO, a name that conveniently matches Sol Ruca’s real name of Calyx Hampton. On X, fans speculated that Ruca will soon be on the receiving end of a name change.

In recent weeks, Ruca has been teaming with Zaria, who has been making waves since her arrival in WWE NXT in late 2024. After Ruca recently introduced Zaria to her surfing lifestyle, Zaria has teased introducing Ruca to her way of life, which fans believe could lead to a name change.

Whatever name Sol Ruca goes by in WWE, the young star has been off to a promising start. Though she is yet to hold gold, Ruca has challenged for the NXT Women’s and NXT Women’s North American Championship. In September 2024, Ruca challenged then-TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace, becoming the first NXT talent to challenge for the title.

WWE often changes the name of talent, just ask the recently-debuted Ricky Saints, and now many expect Ruca to receive a change, ironically to something closer to her real name. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Sol Ruca, and her future in WWE, whatever she is called.

Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifiers & More Set For 11/12 WWE NXT

The road to WWE NXT Deadline will begin in earnest on the upcoming episode of WWE NXT, with two Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying matches announced. On X, WWE NXT GM Ava shared that Wes Lee will face Cedric Alexander in a Men’s Qualifying match, while Cora Jade will take on Sol Ruca for a spot in the Women’s match.

The Iron Survivor Challenge

The Iron Survivor Challenge is a 25-minute match featuring five Superstars, two of which start the match. A new entrant enters every five minutes, with the winner being the Superstar who scores the most points, earned by pinfall or submission. While those entering the match later have less time to score points, they’re also considerably fresher than those who started the match.

Roxanne Perez and Grayson Waller won the inaugural matches in 2022, earning a shot at the NXT Women’s title and NXT title respectively. Perez’s victory would lead to her first reign as NXT Women’s Champion, ending the 413-day reign of Mandy Rose. Blair Davenport and Trick Williams on their matches in 2023.

First NXT Women’s North American Champion to be Crowned in Ladder Match at Battleground

WWE NXT Battleground 2024 will be a historic night for the gold brand as the show will see the crowning of the first NXT Women’s North American Champion.

During the April 30, episode of WWE NXT, General Manager Ava announced that the title will be on the line at NXT Battleground on June 9 in a six-woman ladder match. Before that match though, there will be qualifying matches to determine the entrants in the much-anticipated ladder match.

This announcement brought out Jaida Parker, who declared that she wanted to be part of the qualifying matches. She was joined in the ring by Sol Ruca and Arianna Grace who had similar intentions. Up next it was ‘Michin’ Mia Yim, who despite being on the SMackDown roster, wants to be part of the Women’s North American Championship hunt.

The four women brawled before the rest of the NXT Women’s roster came out which led to a bigger brawl in the ring. The qualifying matches are set to begin soon but the entrants have yet to be revealed.

NXT Battleground won’t just be historic for its introduction of the Women’s North American Championship. The event will take place at the UFC Apex and in partnership with WWE’s sister company under TKO Group Holdings. It will be WWE’s first event hosted at the Apex and shows WWE’s commitment to cross-promotional endeavors as part of TKO.

Women’s Mid-Card Championships

WWE will soon have a women’s mid-card title, but this isn’t a new idea. Here are some recent articles about having such a title in wrestling:

WWE NXT Superstar Returns to the Ring After Lengthy 10-Month Injury Hiatus

WWE has a few people on the NXT brand who are out of action for one reason or another. This week, at a house show in Florida, the brand welcomed back one star who hasn’t been able to wrestle since mid-2023.

Sol Ruca’s Injury

In May 2023, Sol Ruca suffered an ACL injury, prompting her absence from action. She was incorporated into the storyline leading up to Blair Davenport’s NXT debut as the masked attacker who targeted Ruca.

Following the injury, Sol Ruca underwent surgery to address the ACL issue. While she aims to return to the ring soon, the path to recovery is expected to be challenging.

Sol Ruca’s In-Ring Return

Sol Ruca made her long-awaited return to the ring this week during a live event at Crystal River Armory in Crystal River, Florida on February 9th. This was a big surprise to see her, and she walked out of that return match with a feather in her cap, because she made a return from injury.

In the match, Chase U, comprising Jacy Jayne and Thea Hail, emerged victorious over the duo of Brinley Reece and Sol Ruca.

What’s Next for Sol Ruca in WWE NXT

The storyline behind Sol Ruca’s injury was that Blair Davenport took her out, along with many more women in the NXT locker room. A string of injuries to the roster were blamed on Davenport, as they carried on as a hooded figure for a while.

We will have to see if Sol Ruca seeks out revenge against Blair Davenport. Odds are, NXT won’t want to wait long before making the most of Ruca’s in-ring clearance.

SE Scoops will have more updates on this story and many more as they break. Keep checking back for more updates on this story and so much more.

WWE Officials Impressed with NXT Star

NXT star Sol Ruca (real name Calyx Hampton) has been impressing WWE officials in addition to fans of the show.

Coming from a gymnastics background, Sol Ruca is one of the most popular up-and-coming stars to become a fan favorite. She grabbed the attention with her spectacular in-ring moves and sheer athleticism. Her unique finisher Sol Snatcher’ even went viral.

Now, it has been reported that the WWE officials see big potential in her. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE officials are ‘really high’ on Ruca, who will face Elektra Lopez on this week’s edition of NXT.

WWE officials are impressed with Sol Ruca

“That may not be…they’re really high on Solo Ruca for obvious reasons,” Meltzer stated. “Zoey Stark is probably the best opponent to put her in there with, and Elektra Lopez is probably near the bottom of the list of opponents to put her in there with. I guess Lash Legend might be worse.”

Ruca and Zoey Stark are currently entailed in a fiery rivalry that has been boiling in recent weeks. The two faced off in singles action on the February 7th episode, and it was Stark who snatched a cheeky win. However, Sol Ruca made it clear that she wants to face Stark again during a promo segment last week.

Ruca joined the Performance Center in May of 2022. After signing with the company, she made her in-ring debut last June, where she continued to work on the NXT Level Up show. Following a brief run on the show, she made her NXT debut last September.
