WWE Superstar Sonya Deville suffered a nasty gash above her left eye in Saturday night’s Women’s ‘Royal Rumble’ match.
Deville entered the Rumble at #27, an advantageous spot that most entrants would be happy to receive. She eliminated a few people, including Indi Hartwell and Zoey Stark, before getting kicked in the head and tossed out by Asuka.
Early Sunday morning, Deville checked in on social media to let her fans know she’s alright, and to show off the full extent of her injury.

As seen below, she suffered a huge cut on her eyebrow that likely required several stitches to close up. She’s taking the setback in stride and says, “I’m a beast!”
The 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble match was ultimately won by Rhea Ripley of Judgment Day. Ripley now who heads to WrestleMania Goes Hollywood, where she’ll face either Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair or SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair.
Three WWE Superstars made the trip to Hartford, Connecticut to present a police officer with a WWE Championship title for his bravery during a shootout.
In October, Officer Alec Iurato was injured in a shooting that killed two Bristol police officers, Lt. Dustin DeMonte and Sgt. Alex Hamzy.
Officials close to the case said that Officer Iurato killed the suspect with a single shot.

In a Facebook status from the Bristol Connecticut Police Department, Iurato can be seen with a WWE Championship, complete with customer Bristol PD side plates.
The championship was presented by Liv Morgan, Sonya Deville, and Braun Strowman at the XL Center in Hartford, the host of the November 18, 2022, episode of WWE SmackDown.
Bristol PD said that WWE has been a support for the families of Lt. Demonte & Sgt. Hamzy, in addition to supporting Officer Iurato.
Bristol Police Chief Brian Gould called Iurato a true hero and said he maintained courage and composure and stopped the act of killing that October night.

Police Officer Charlie Guenigault was presented with a WWE Championship by Triple H for his bravery during a terror attack in London in June 2017.
This isn’t the first time WWE has gone the extra mile to show their appreciation to someone for their acts of bravery.
In June 2017, off-duty police officer Charlie Guenigault was injured during a terror attack in London, England when he was trying to protect a British Transport Police officer.
The amateur rugby player and lifelong WWE fan was shocked later that month to be presented with a WWE Championship by none other than Triple H.
The Game said at the time “People say a lot of times that they watch WWE because these guys are like real-life superheroes. Well, Charlie is a real hero.”
Sonya Deville has stepped up as the first challenger to new Raw Women’s Champion, Bianca Belair. Deville will get her title shot at WrestleMania Backlash on May 8th.
The EST of WWE regained the title from Becky Lynch at WrestleMania. At Monday’s Raw, she made short work of Zelina Vega. After the match, Deville came out to present Belair with a contract for her next title defense.
Deville hyped up the mystery opponent and called for a drum roll and as part of the elaborate introduction. She proceeded she proceeded to attack Belair from behind, revealing herself to be the #1 contender for the Raw women’s title.
Later in the show, Deville’s colleague Adam Pearce approached her backstage and accused her of abusing her power as an authority figure. Deville brushed off the comment and promised to shock the world by winning the championship.
Backstage correspondent Sarah Schreiber caught up with Bianca Belair after Sonya Deville’s attack at Raw.
Belair said she “stays ready” for challenges like this.
“I stay ready, so I don’t have to get ready, and while Sonya Deville has been wearing suits and making matches for a year, I’ve been wearing titles and making history. So, let’s do it,” Belair said.
On screen WWE official Sonya Deville appears to be dealing with some sort of arm injury. She was recently spotted with a sling in her left arm.
The WWE star posted a photo from the red carpet of NFL Honors show on her Instagram earlier today. In the photo as seen below, she is wearing a sling in her arm:
“Thank you @glaad and @nfl for an incredible event tonight in LA, inclusion is so important and brands like @wwe and the @nfl showing their support and representation matters so much. Go LA”

Sonya Deville last wrestled during the Royal Rumble PPV. She took part in the women’s Royal Rumble. She entered the match at #11 and was eliminated by Naomi two minutes later.
She also had an interaction with Ronda Rousey on last Friday’s episode of SmackDown. Deville tried to get between Charlotte Flair and Rousey. As a result, she was put in an armbar by the former UFC star.
There is no word yet on if Sonya Deville has suffered a real injury or if she is selling the attack from Rousey. We will keep you updated on her status if any details about her health come to light.
Sonya Deville has been outspoken about the importance of LGBTQ inclusion since arriving in WWE. She publicly ‘came out’ as gay during a segment on Tough Enough before she was ever hired.
Deville recently spoke with TalkSport and discussed how WWE could incorporate LGBTQ characters into its programming.
“LGBTQ inclusion is something I’ve talked about for years,” she said. “To incorporate that into WWE TV organically should happen because it’s just part of life. It’s like every TV show usually has a gay character because, statistically, there would be a gay character!”
Sonya Deville On How To Include LGBTQ Characters In WWE
Deville also commented on how it could be included as part of her character if done in an organic and subtle way.
“I think it’s a natural thing. I’d like it to be really organic. I’d like it to be done right, of course, but I would like it to be organic so that if it was ever a part of my character or a layer of me, I would like it to be subtle and make sense.”
Finally, Deville said the best way to include LGBTQ characters on WWE programming is to be subtle about it, not build an entire angle around it, and have it occur organically.
“You don’t necessarily need a whole angle around it. We’ve had ideas in the past and things like that, but it just needs to be organic,” Deville said. “If there’s a scene where one of the male superstars called his wife backstage and then one day, I could call my girlfriend backstage, you know what I mean? Just organic things like that which are a part of life, I don’t think anything needs to be forced.”
The 28-year-old Deville appeared on Tough Enough in 2015 and was signed to WWE shortly after. She made her main roster debut in 2017 along with Mandy Rose. Deville is currently an on-screen authority figure in WWE along with Adam Pearce after losing a “loser leaves WWE” match to Mandy Rose.
Working with Vince McMahon is not always a pleasant experience for every WWE star, but for Sonya Deville, it was one of the rare fangirl moments. The female star alongside her former partner Mandy Rose recently had an interview with popculture.com. They talked about things such as how they became friends and more.
Speaking of her experience of working with the boss for some segments recently, Deville said that it is the favourite thing of her career so far:
“Yeah, that’s been really cool. Working with Vince lately has probably been my favourite thing in my career thus far. He’s just so knowledgeable and just so respectable to be around. And just to be in segments with him, I was like, ‘Oh my god.’ I don’t have many fangirl moments. But I was kind of freaking out.
And he’s so cool, and we were in there for hours working on stuff.” said Sonya Deville, “He’s just so helpful. And he’s always been supportive of my career and what I wanted to do.”
As an on-screen WWE authority figure, Deville was involved in the recent WWE storyline of Cleopatra’s $100 million golden egg that featured Vince McMahon. Apart from this, Sonya Deville talked about possibly following the footsteps of The Rock and John Cena to join the acting world and more.
Storm hasn’t been featured consistently in WWE since joining the main roster. Before joining the main roster, WWE promoted Storm as a newcomer to the Smackdown brand. She made her Smackdown debut on July 23rd when she defeated Zelina Vega. However, WWE didn’t feature Storm afterward except for occasional backstage segments.
She returned to competition in a loss to Vega in the first round of the Queen’s Crown Tournament on October 8th. WWE hasn’t used Storm on Smackdown since her loss to Vega. Despite winning her match on November 11th, Deville decided to take Aliyah off of Team Smackdown. It’s unclear if Deville or WWE will explain why Storm is replacing Aliyah on the team.
Survivor Series Updated Card
The WWE has confirmed six matches for Survivor Series. The main event of the Survivor Series seems to be WWE Champion Big E vs. Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a non-title match. The WWE could also have Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. Smackdown’s Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair as the main event. Both Lynch and Flair have generated attention towards their match due to their issues.
WWE hasn’t confirmed if they plan to add more matches. For Storm, Survivor Series will be an opportunity to show that WWE could utilize her more on the main roster.
Becky Lynch was not the only person angry with Charlotte Flair following the title-exchange segment on Smackdown. According to a report from PW Insider, Sonya Deville confronted Flair as well.
“Two different sources described Sonya Deville as ‘mad enough to want to fight Flair’ and at one point, also having an argument with Flair backstage at Smackdown,” wrote Mike Johnson.
The most underrated part of this whole thing is how well Sonya Deville acted through all the shenanigans. A pro. pic.twitter.com/4JXafH0L2j
The report continued to say that Flair made it clear she thought the booking of the segment made her and the championship look weak. Flair is also said to have ruffled a few feathers in other instances in the past few months. These include a visibly stiff confrontation with Nia Jax during a live match on RAW. A further report from Wade Keller states that Flair has been “‘increasingly difficult to work with’ over the course of the year.”
One source, speaking to PW Insider under the condition of anonymity, said that Flair has been very protective of her position in the company as of late.
“Let’s be honest, that’s what stars do,” the source reportedly said. “They make sure their star power remains the same or greater.”
Another source stated that resentment towards Flair has been building and it was “just a matter of time” before something happened.” Flair was escorted out of the building on Friday night.
Flair was also reportedly not backstage at AEW’s show in Orlando on Saturday night. Although she has accompanied Andrade el Idolo in the past to AEW events.
Sonya Deville has not worked a match in nearly a year, but that could be changing soon. Fightful reports that “Daddy Deville” is expected to return to the ring soon, and it could be imminent as long as all things go according to plan. WWE’s creative team is said to be particularly hopeful that she’ll be back in action.
Deville has been seen training inside of the squared circle as of late. It should be noted that Deville has indicated in interviews that she’s happy with her current role as an on-air authority figure with Adam Pearce.
Some within WWE have had glowing reviews of Deville, the handling of the last year, and the way she’s worked her role.
It was added there has been a significant push to have Deville involved in the Women’s Money in the Bank match. Something for fans to look out for is her working the contest as the report stated at one point, she was penciled in for it.
Asuka, Naomi, Alex Bliss, Nikki Cross, Liv Morgan, Zelina Vega, and Natalya have qualified for the match thus far, which leaves one spot left.
Deville was last seen in action when she worked a No DQ, Loser Leaves WWE match against Mandy Rose at last year’s SummerSlam.
Sonya Deville has taken a break from her in-ring career during the pandemic era. She has instead assumed the role of an on-screen authority figure on WWE TV.
With the company finally returning to the road next month with a big 25 city tour, a lot of people have been wondering if we will see the former Absolution member making an in-ring return as well.
Deville was asked about the possibility during her recent appearance on WWE’s The Bump and she claimed that she is content with her current role:
“You know, I love what I’m doing right now. I think it’s a natural fit. I’m a leader in life, and I think it transitions well into a suit and tie. I love being in charge, so I’m content with where I am right now,”
Sonya Deville confirmed that her in-ring career is not over yet. She indicated that she will return to the ring eventually but it won’t be happening anytime soon:
“At the end of the day, of course, I’m a fighter, but I’m really enjoying growing and learning in this role. I don’t see an end to it anytime soon.”
Sonya Deville had been off WWE TV since August 2020. She made her return to the company in a non wrestling role in January earlier this year.
She originally acted as an assistant to Adam Pearce but has started making executive decisions of her own since then.
Sonya Deville was recently interviewed by Variety and spoke about being WWE’s first openly gay female wrestler. She also spoke about the incident last summer involving an obsessed fan breaking into her home.
With Pride month kicking off this week, Deville spoke about being a role model and voice for the LGBTQ+ community.
“I really just want to be a voice for the community in sports — specifically, in the WWE,” said Deville. “I want to let people know that their sexuality doesn’t define them and how they identify doesn’t define them. And I’m a perfect example of it.”
Stop 😭😭😭 you’re the sweetest and you already are doing it all and some! Thank you for your support and love 🌈🖤 https://t.co/SPD4DySnxB
She also spoke about coming out on an episode of Tough Enough and worrying that it would hurt her chances of getting hired by WWE.
“I honestly thought that was going to hurt my chances of getting hired. That’s just how naive I was,” she continued. “I didn’t accept myself, so I didn’t think anyone else was going to accept me.”
Deville was also asked about the incident involving an obsessed fan breaking into her home last summer.
“So the trial hasn’t even begun yet,” Deville said of the case. “We’ll probably be dealing with that for the next several months. But I will definitely speak on it once it’s all legally wrapped up. There are things that I want to say that I think could help performers, and just people in general, in the future.”
Sonya Deville on Receiving Messages From Fans
Despite the ordeal, Deville still loves hearing from her fans. She won’t stop being a voice for those who look up to her.
“I would say that about 70% of my fan base is part of the community somehow, some way. I get messages constantly on Instagram and Twitter and emails, just all the people always asking me like, ‘Hey, do you have any advice on how I should come out?’ Or ‘Thank you. You helped me feel OK with myself and my sexuality.’ That’s literally the reason I use my voice.”
Sonya Deville returned to WWE programming during the New Year’s Day episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Deville has since discussed her return to television during an appearance on Talking Smack. She also addressed her new role as Adam Pearce’s assistant.
Deville explained how she’s “never felt better” now that she’s finally back on the blue brand. She shared how her return felt as though it was “never going to happen.”
“A long 4 months off, but you know what, 2021 is going to be the year of Sonya Deville, but also the year of SmackDown. I’m excited about so many things to come for the show and I’m excited to show you guys.”
Regarding her new on-screen role, Deville revealed how anyone who knows her would admit the role is a “natural fit” for her. She noted how she and Adam Pearce make a “great kind of duo” before sharing her 2021 SmackDown goals.
“I want to make SmackDown a good place to work, and I want the women to get opportunities,” Deville said. “I have a lot of things in store, and I think it’s all going to be positive, moving in the upward direction, and that’s all I’m going to tell you.”
Sonya Deville initially left WWE programming after being beaten by Mandy Rose. She lost a “Loser Leaves WWE” matchup to Rose at SummerSlam 2020.
Sonya Deville recently released a statement on her Instagram stories. Deville says in her statement that she will not hesitate to report or take legal action against people who send harassing or threatening messages to her or people in her life.
Her full statement can be read below:
“I’m going to say this once and try and be clear. I love my fans very much and appreciate U despite what has happened I do not categorize U all as raging psycho paths. But harassing myself or people I have been W etc. is never acceptable. I share my life with y’all to an extent because it is part of what I do and what I signed up for.
That being said I will not hesitate to report and or take legal action against anyone that has sent threatening messages and or anything inappropriate to me or someone in my life. Like I mentioned I am not messing around at all and it is a zero tolerance policy at this point due to the referenced incident, thank you.”
WWE fans haven’t seen Sonya Deville since SummerSlam. She lost a Loser Leaves WWE match to Mandy Rose at the event. Deville is still under contract with WWE and is expected to return at some point, however.
Mandy Rose defeated Sonya Deville at SummerSlam this August. The match carried a stipulation that the loser would leave WWE. Despite Rose ending her career, Deville says the two have made up after Rose apologized. She took to Instagram to announce their reconciliation, which evidently took place on a boat.
Deville also recently celebrated “National Coming Out Day”.

Where Is Sonya Deville?
Shortly before SummerSlam, Deville and Rose were staying at Deville’s Florida home when an intruder broke in. The suspect has been denied bond and is currently in prison awaiting trial. He is believed to have sent several disturbing messages to Deville’s social media.
According to reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the reason Deville vs Rose at SummerSlam was changed from hair vs hair to career vs career is because Deville’s legal team didn’t think it was a good idea for her to appear in court with a shaved head. Deville is believed to have been scheduled for time off after SummerSlam regardless, due to acting opportunities.
“The original idea was not to shave her bald, but to cut off most of her hair for some sort of an acting role. No word on how long she’ll be gone but she’s not leaving WWE,” wrote Dave Meltzer.
Sonya Deville lost a Loser Leaves WWE match at SummerSlam last Sunday. The stipulation and Deville’s recent challenges outside of the ring have left many fans wondering when or if they will see her back in a WWE ring. According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Deville will not be leaving WWE but possibly would have been taking some time off for an acting role anyway.
According to the report, Deville was going to lose the Hair vs Hair match at SummerSlam but would not be shaved completely bald. Instead, most of her hair would be cut off for an acting role she has upcoming.
“The original idea was not to shave her bald, but to cut off most of her hair for some sort of an acting role. No word on how long she’ll be gone but she’s not leaving WWE,” wrote Dave Meltzer.
Latest On Sonya Deville
It has previously been reported that the reason the Hair vs Hair stipulation was changed to a Loser Leaves WWE stipulation is that Deville’s lawyers didn’t feel it was a good idea for her to be appearing in court with a recently shaved head.
“The reason they switched the stipulation from the hair vs hair to the loser leaves town was because her lawyer basically said that with this thing going on it’s probably not a good idea to cut your hair, get your head shaved, for court,” said Dave Meltzer on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.
Deville appeared in court yesterday to obtain a restraining order against the man who broke into her home.
In terms of what acting role Deville may have landed, this is unclear. She was up for the role of Batwoman recently but that was given to actress. Javicia Leslie.
The wrestling world is continuing to grapple with the seriousness of what took place at Sonya Deville’s residence in the early hours of August 16th. Several updates are now available concerning the case.
Deville is scheduled to appear in court this morning. The purpose of today’s hearing is to seek a restraining order against Phillip Thomas in case he is released in the future.
Deville also testified a week ago today at a court hearing. That hearing ultimately ruled Thomas would not be granted bond and will remain in prison until his trial.
Deville noted that after learning the person’s name, she checked her social media and found countless threatening messages from him.
“I found hundreds of messages he sent from his account and two other accounts threatening my life. threatening my baby niece, saying he knew she was my world and he’d make sure she was dead,” Deville said, “saying that he’d cut off my ex-girlfriend‘s head and deliver it to my doorstep and do various forceful sexual things to me and my family members. I was horrified.”
Fox 13 published the following report which features security footage of the man entering Deville’s residence.
Court Rules To Keep Evidence Sealed
According to a report from PW Insider, The Hillsborough County Court ruled against a motion from local Florida media recently. The motion was for the release of evidence regarding the case to the public. Such evidence includes video messages sent by the suspect through social media. This evidence will remain sealed as a result of the court ruling against the motion.
Deville Has Received Additional Threats
A court-document obtained by HeelByNature, appears to indicate that Deville has received additional threats following the attack. Such messages reportedly read “I’ll finish the job that Phillip started”, and “My knife is sharper than Phillp’s.” These messages are addressed in the below document’s 3rd note:
The Hair vs Hair stipulation originally scheduled for the Mandy Rose vs Sonya Deville match at SummerSlam was removed on Smackdown last week. Deville said she wanted to up the stakes and a “Loser Leaves WWE” stipulation was added to the match instead.
According to a report from Wrestling Observer Radio, Deville’s lawyers noted it probably was not a good idea for her to appear in court with a recently shaved head.
“The reason they switched the stipulation from the hair vs hair to the loser leaves town was because her lawyer basically said that with this thing going on it’s probably not a good idea to cut your hair, get your head shaved, for court,” said Dave Meltzer.
The report continued to speculate what might be next for Deville after losing the match.
“Maybe because of the case she’s going to take some time off,” Meltzer continued. “I know there’s other projects she was looking at doing. Obviously, she’s going to be back at some point. I wonder if anyone really believes she’s really gone because they never adhere to their stips.”
Rose defeated Deville at SummerSlam. According to the stipulation, Deville must now leave the company.
WWE had announced a Hair vs. Hair match between former Fire And Desire partners Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose for the SummerSlam PPV.
However, the company changed the bout to a Loser Leaves WWE match a few days before the PPV, making things much more interesting.
The match then saw Mandy Rose picking up the victory over the former MMA star. She pinned Deville after hitting a big Facebuster and then covering her for the pin after a big knee strike to her opponent’s face.
Sonya Deville reacted to the loss in this Loser Leaves WWE match at the PPV on Twitter and the former NXT star wrote ‘…. goodbye’ in a tweet.
On the other hand, Rose took on her own twitter account to mock her former partner, saying that maybe Sonya should have thought this one through:
There is no word on the plans for Sonya Deville after this loss. Speculation is that she could take some time off from WWE due to the attempted kidnapping last week because the match stipulation was changed after the incident.
There is also a belief that she could return to WWE programming during the planned drafts in October but whether or not it actually happens will be revealed in future.
Sonya Deville testified in court yesterday at a hearing for Phillip Thomas II, the suspect charged with her attempted kidnapping and breaking into her home. Following the hearing, Thomas was ruled a threat to society and denied bail. He will remain in prison until his trial.
“I saw a man standing there and he had black clothes on and a black mask and he was just standing there staring at me,” Deville said on the stand. The incident occurred early Sunday morning after Deville had gone to bed after watching the UFC 252 PPV. Mandy Rose was staying in a guest room at her home that evening.
“I looked up, I saw him, I was terrified, I started screaming. I don’t even know what I said,” she continued. Deville has also filed for a restraining order against Thomas in civil court.
The judge ruled that Thomas provides a threat to the community even if monitored by GPS while on bail.
“I don’t see any way we can protect our community in Hillsborough County if we give him bail,” the judge ruled. “A GPS on him gives me no peace of mind. A GPS monitor does nothing for me.”
Sonya Deville has shared her first public comments since a man was arrested after attempting to break into her home. Phillip A. Thomas II was found armed with a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape, and mace. He had intended to kidnap Deville. Thomas had allegedly been plotting the kidnapping for 8 months.
Taking to Twitter, Deville wrote:
“Thank you everyone for your love and concern. A very frightening experience but thankfully everyone is safe. A special thank you to Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for their response and assistance.”
Thank you everyone for your love and concern. A very frightening experience but thankfully everyone is safe. A special thank you to Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for their response and assistance. 🖤
The man gained access to Deville’s porch after cutting a hole into the Superstar’s screen door. He reportedly waited there as Deville and a friend watched this weekend’s UFC 252 event. Upon trying to access the property, Deville’s alarm system triggered. Having seen Thomas in her house, she fled her home and called the police.
Thankfully, Thomas was arrested by police. He has been charged with Aggravated Stalking, Armed Burglary of a Dwelling, Attempted Armed Kidnapping, and Criminal Mischief.
“Our deputies are unveiling the suspect’s disturbing obsession with this homeowner who he had never met, but stalked on social media for years,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a press release. “It’s frightening to think of all the ways this incident could have played out had the home alarm not gone off and alerted the homeowner of an intruder.”
A Twitter account with the username @Phillip80400010 appears to belong to Thomas. It features a litany of of tweet and retweets revolving around Sonya Deville.
Read more about the Sonya Deville attempted kidnapping at the Tampa Bay Times:
An obsessed fan has been arrested after breaking into the Florida home of Smackdown Superstar, Sonya Deville. The Tampa Bay Times is reporting that Phillip A. Thomas of South Carolina was arrested early this morning. He has admitted to breaking into Deville’s home and that he had planned to kidnap her.
The police department has said that Thomas had been planning the kidnapping attempt for 8 months. He had a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape, and mace on him at the time of his arrest. He has been charged with aggravated stalking, armed burglary of a dwelling, attempted armed kidnapping, and criminal mischief.
Reports are that the suspect cut a hole in Deville’s screen door around midnight last night to gain access to her porch. He remained there as Deville and a friend watched the UFC PPV. Thomas then attempted to enter the home through a sliding glass door at 2:43 AM. This triggered Deville’s alarm system. Deville then spotted Thomas on her property, fled the premises, and called the police.
Smackdown’s Sonya Deville recently took part in an interview with the International Business Times. During the interview, Deville revealed that Tegan Nox reached out to her before coming out as gay last month.
“She reached out to me a couple of months ago and she just kind of picked my brain on my coming out story. What it was like and what she was going through and how to kind of navigate some of the dark waters that she hasn’t done yet.”
Deville then said the advice she gave Tegan was to do things on her own time and in her own way.
“I just gave her the best advice I could, and I told her that I think she’s awesome and speaking her truth is a powerful thing, but to do it on her time, in her way and not to let anybody else dictate that journey for her.”
Deville also spoke about representation in wrestling in both AEW and WWE.
“Having Jake Atlas and Tegan in WWE, and seeing Sonny Kiss and Nyla Rose in AEW, it’s so powerful and it means the world to me.”
Charlotte Flair has been a polarising figure since her debut in WWE. Many fans believe that she is given more opportunities than others due to her last name and WWE star Sonya Deville recently revealed her thoughts on the matter.
The former NXT star recently had an interview with the Sun where she talked about things like the coronavirus pandemic, adjusting to shows without an audience and more.
During the interview, the female star was asked about the perception that Flair receives more opportunities because of her heritage, and Deville said that whether it may be true or not, she delivers every time:
“Yeah, I mean, it’s a two-fold question because it’s like, does she get opportunities because of who she is? “Maybe, but does she deliver every single time? For sure.”
Though Sonya Deville continued by explaining that a lot of women in the WWE locker room would step up and work hard if given the same opportunities, citing herself as an example:
“I’m the same way where anything you throw at me, I’m going to deliver. You could throw anything at me. If I’m given the same opportunities as Charlotte Flair, I will be as big if not bigger than Charlotte.”
Sonya Deville was signed by WWE in 2015. However, despite being called up to the main roster in November 2017, the former NXT star is yet to hold a title in the company.

Recent reports have suggested that Sonya Deville is pushing for acting roles in near future and one possible opportunity for her is the role of Batwoman in the CW series.
The former NXT star recently had an interview with ComicBookMovie.com where she talked about a number of things including a possible acting career and more.
Deville is WWE’s first openly gay female superstar. With Batwoman being a famous gay superhero, the female star was asked what it would mean for her to play the role:
“It was so cool to me to not only see a strong female being portrayed on a network like The CW, but that Batwoman is gay. That was so, so cool to me. I remember seeing when Ruby Rose got the part and being like, ‘Oh my God, that’s so badass.’
The fact they want to keep it in the LGBTQ+ community I think is something that’s really, really cool.” said Sonya Deville “I would love to be able to be the one to continue that inspiring message.”
When asked if she has had any contact with the makers of the show or if she had been given any chance to audition for the role, Sonya said that it’s a work “in progress. I’m working on it. [Laughs] I’ll say that.”
Ruby Rose, surprisingly announced her departure from Batwoman after the first season of the show recently. The producers have since confirmed that Rose’s Kate Kane will be replaced by a different character in season 2 of the series.
Daria Rae Berenato, better known to wrestling fans as Sonya Deville, is reportedly looking to get acting roles in the near future. Deville has a history in film and has even produced her own movie. According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Deville may even be up for the role of “Batwoman.”
“Deville, who is repped by Anderson Group Public Relations, is attempted to be pushed for acting roles,” wrote Dave Meltzer. The report continued to say Deville is rumored to be in the running for the Batwoman role.
Batwoman is a series on the CW Television Network that received generally favorable reviews for its first season. Lead actress Ruby Rose decided to leave the role of Batwoman, however, as she found it to be too time-consuming. Now, the series must replace her for it to continue, and apparently, Deville is in the mix for the role.
Deville was formerly the host of UFC Afterbuzz before she signed with WWE. Her IMDB credits also include the TV series’ Tattoo Nightmares, Black Days, and Comedy Joy Ride.
Deville was also a producer on the 2013 film “The Honour.” She portrayed the role of JuJu in the film as well.
“Christian Conservative Sarah discovers her daughter Judith is gay and in love with a Muslim Neighbor. Sarah will do anything to save the immoral soul of her daughter,” reads a description of the film.
