Stone Cold Addresses His Wrestling Status, Would Sky Join WWE?

– It was reported on various news outlets Wednesday that sources close to “Stone Cold” Steve Austin say it is unlikely that he will ever compete in a wrestling match again as a result of multiple injuries. A Twitter user asked the WWE Hall of Famer about the rumor and he issued a “bottom line” response.

“If I decide to wrestle/not wrestle you will hear it from ME Not a dirt sheet and damn sure not from bleacher report,” Austin states.

– Glamour model-turned-breakout-wrestling star Reby Sky was asked on Twitter whether she would be interested in joining WWE at this time and responded, “I’m truly happy where I’m at right now #LivingTheDream.”

Prior to becoming a professional wrestler, Sky was forced to reject an opportunity offer from WWE due to her contract with Lucha Libre USA as their MTV2 program hostess.

Sky also responded to people criticizing her in-ring ability after a year-plus of training: “Love how people try to insult me with “You have nothing on [insert female wrestler here]”. I’m not trying to have anything “on” anyone. I’m trying to be the best that I can be. Emphasis on “I”. Trying to compare me to people who have been in the business for 200 yrs is ridiculous. Keep your sh*t in perspective. I’m busting my as$ and – to be honest – very content with where I’m at in my training.”

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin Explains Why He Didn’t Appear On Raw

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin, who Vince McMahon has dubbed the greatest star in the history of Monday Night Raw, was noticeably absent from Monday’s 1000 episode celebration. The legendary wrestler addressed his absence from the program with an explanation on his official website, BrokenSkullRanch.com.

“The reason I did not attend RAW 1,000 was because I underwent a major knee surgery on my left knee on July 2, 2012. Dr. Neal ElAttrache of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, CA performed the surgery,” he states.

Austin says the surgery was a complete success, but he remains on crutches and recently began physical therapy.

He continues, “STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN IS A 100% ASS KICKING MACHINE. There was no way I was going to limp down the ramp on crutches for RAW 1,000. It was time to get my knee fixed. The decision to no-show RAW 1,000 was made by me and no one else. I have always taken pride in making my shots and have never faked an injury or illness. Pro Wrestling is a tough game and it was time to pay the piper for some of the damage I incurred in the ring. No gripes. No complaints.

“To the fans that were hoping to see SCSA, I’m sorry I missed the show. I would have loved to be there under different circumstances. I normally keep my personal business to myself, but due to feedback and incorrect speculation, I have posted this blog and given the 411 on why I was not at RAW 1,000.”

Hall Of Famer Possibly Spoils Legends Angle For 1000th Raw

After competing at Tuesday’s SmackDown taping in San Diego, California, Road Warrior Animal stopped by the 100.3 KFAN-FM studios for Extreme Pro Wrestling Radio to discuss this coming Monday’s historic 1000th episode of Raw SuperShow and confirmed his and other former WWE Superstars’ involvement on the program.

The WWE Hall of Famer may have spoiled the payoff of Heath Slater’s returning Raw legend angle while addressing rumors of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s involvement with the program—who has not been announced to appear by WWE.

When asked whether The Rattlesnake will encounter Slater on the show, Animal responded, “Austin will definitely give him the stunner, ya know thats coming! Fans get ready, you’re gonna see a stunner!”

Animal, who appeared on Raw in 1997 and 1998, also confirmed that he will be on hand for the festivities: “I will be making an appearance…people will see that my spikes from SmackDown were excellently repainted! Yeah, I’ll be there all painted up, with bells on boys! If it happens it happens, I’m ready!”

On what else to expect for the unprecedented show, he said, “It’s gonna be star studded, on my flight alone is me, DDP and Bret “Hitman” Hart!”

Animal reveals more on Raw 1000, audio available here.

Will Austin Be at RAW? HHH High on McGillicutty, FCW Divas

– Triple H is reportedly high on Michael McGillicutty with the thinking that he’s a potential star.

– There is still no word on whether or not Steve Austin will be appearing on the 1,000th RAW episode. A source says that if Austin can get away from filming Grown Ups 2 then he may appear on RAW but when the date was first announced and brought up to him, there was a conflict.

– Of all the Divas in WWE developmental, the ones getting strong reviews are Raquel Diaz (Shaul Guerrero), Paige (Britani Knight) and Sofia Cortez (Ivelisse Vélez).

Paige and Sofia are better than most Divas on the main roster and given Paige’s age and in-ring ability, the feeling is that she has the potential to be the star worker in WWE’s women’s division down the line. Regarding Diaz, the feeling is that she has great charisma and potential to be one of the best female talkers but her in-ring work is not ready.

JR Blog: Austin, Goldberg & Batista Back In WWE, Wellness Policy

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:

Pro Wrestling Bias: “I strongly dislike this unflattering trait that many in our society have. Perhaps that’s why acting, for some wrestlers, is a viable alternative for performers leaving the business. Society isn’t geared to afford many other opportunities for former wrestlers without them having a marketable skill set and especially without an education. ”

WWE’s Wellness Policy: “I’m not against two strikes and out being the benchmark.”

Austin, Goldberg & Batista Returning To WWE: “I get these Tweets daily, will @steveaustinBSR or @Goldberg ever return to WWE? I’m wondering why those asking don’t Tweet the talents themselves. Not everyone that has had a wrestling career wants to return to the grind. It’s not that glamorous. Same goes for @DaveBautista who’s also building a film career.”

Update On CM Punk vs. Steve Austin At WrestleMania 29

With WrestleMania 29 approximately 9 months away, WWE officials continue to lay out plans for the card’s top matches, including who current WWE Champion CM Punk will wretle.

CM Punk has been pushing hard behind the scenes to wrestle WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin, but the latest is that there are no guarantees the match will take place.

Austin has been very outspoken over the past year about the fact that he’s healthy to wrestle again – and if he did return, he’d want to wrestle CM Punk.

That said, it’s far from a lock that Austin will return to the year. In fact, a WWE source recently stated that the possibility of Austin wrestling at WrestleMania 29 next year is still “more likely a no than a yes.”

Ryback Addresses Goldberg Comparisons; Benoit’s WWE Theme

– Ryback addressed comparisons to Bill Goldberg during an interview with the July 2012 issue of WWE Magazine. When asked what his look tells WWE Universe members, Ryback responded, “All the Rob Van Dam comparisons are fine with me because we actually have the same airbrush guy. I feel like I’m a colorful person in terms of my personality and what people are going to see over time. The plain black look just didn’t cut it for me. It worked for Austin, it worked for Goldberg, but I’m not Austin or Goldberg—I’m Ryback.”

He was also asked why people should care about him over anyone else: “I bring an intensity and excitement that nobody’s seen in a long time. When you watch a Ryback match, you’re going to be entertained one way or another, whether it lasts for two minutes or twenty minutes.

– Steve Austin will be appearing at the CMT Music Awards tonight in Nashville, Tennessee. Austin will be promoting his new Redneck Island reality show on the network.

– WWE is now billing Sin Cara “the most popular superstar in the history of Mexico.” This statement can be disputed from many angles – and could also be seen as a shot at suspended WWE superstar Rey Mysterio.

WWE’s New Top Priority, Austin Talks WM13 Double Turn

– According to WWE sources, the company’s new top priority are its various television products – namely, RAW and SmackDown. The change in direction has been in the works for some time now and comes straight from Vince McMahon.

WWE’s top priority for decades has been maximizing revenue from pay-per-view events. While PPV is still one of the company’s core profit centers, buyrates have been declining for years and WWE is now relying more than ever on its television rights fees from NBC Universal.

At a time when WWE’s pay-per-view buys are declining, the company is relying on television more than ever, as evidenced by the recent announcement that RAW is expanding to 3 hours. WWE will make several extra million dollars per year from RAW’s third hour on USA, which will offset losses from PPVs not selling as well.

– In an #AftermathRadio retro interview, WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin talks in depth with Arda Ocal and Jimmy Korderas about his infamous “double turn” match at WrestleMania 13 vs Bret Hart — where the Hitman became a villain and Austin became a hero in the same match. Austin also shares a laugh about ribbing referees in dark matches.

JR Blog: Cena Not On RAW, More Acting Roles For Austin & More

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with another blog update, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:

Redneck Island: “Talked to @steveaustinBSR last week. Steve spent approximately 30 days in Mexico taping ‘Redneck Island’ for CMT. He seemed pleased with the project which debuts in mid June on CMT. It’s tapped for a 10 week run. This could be the first of multiple projects with Steve and CMT in the future. Steve will be shooting some scenes for ‘Grownups 2’ starring Adam Sandler and others in July.”

Dolph Ziggler Returning To Singles Action: “Seems like Dolph Ziggler is about to embark on his own or so it appears from watching RAW. Whether Ziggler reminds one of Billy Gunn, Curt ‘Mr Perfect’ Hennig or anyone else from the days of yesteryear, the former college wrestler is main event bound in my view. @HEELZiggler can be a big time player and I would only encourage him to take the ball away from someone and run with it until someone forces him to change course.”

WWE 13: “I’ve put many hours into this project and it’s going to have multiple storylines that come with some bona fide attitude … Amazing that some people actually think that Laurinaitis is/was going to be on the cover of WWE13 from THQ. CM Punk got the deserved nod.”

WWE 13 Screenshots & Video Trailer

John Cena Not Appearing On RAW: “John Cena not being on Raw live was a sound move. Cena is far and away WWE’s top star right now and giving one’s bell cow a respite from additional TV exposure is a good thing. Cena is a valued commodity in WWE and not over exposing him is good for the Cena TV persona and also provides other stars the opportunity to ‘maximize their minutes’ and be more impactful.”

From a remote tropical paradise, Austin will guide the men and women through a number of hilarious mental and physical challenges designed to celebrate the group’s strengths and limitations in a quest for $100,000.  At the end of each episode, teammates will send one competitor packing.

The REDNECK ISLAND contestants include:

Catherine Long (Harrisburg, N.C.) – Blonde, bubbly and funny “Southern belle.”  Likes to have a good time and is fun to be around, but can become stubborn and hot-headed at times.  Loves her family, hunting and drinking beer.

Eric Bradford (Lexington, S.C.) – The party boy jock.  As a professional wrestler and former cheerleader in college, he is extremely energetic and highly competitive, but can sometimes come off as abrasive and selfish.

Kevin “Bobo” Floyd (Midland City, Ala.) – A good-hearted truck driver who will do anything for you, as long as you don’t piss him off.  Loves beer, hunting and guns, but is terrified of tornadoes.

Jeannie Hunter (Marble Falls, Texas) – Fun-loving and adventurous, pistol-packing “Southern belle.”  Enjoys bull riding and went to college on a full rodeo scholarship.  Likes to hunt and be outdoors.

Jennifer Kercher (Lakeland, Fla.) – A tough ex-Navy girl, Jen is a certified EMT and a guy’s girl who can change her own car tires and oil.  She is outgoing, caring and always up for anything.  Having grown up with a twin, Jen is also highly competitive.

Adam Freeman (Nashville, Tenn.) – After two marriages that ended in divorce, he came out as a gay man.  He is a hairstylist with a big and fabulous personality, but is just as much of a proud redneck as the next guy.  Adam is competing for his five kids.

Kassie Worley (Navarre, Fla.) – Single mom who likes to get dolled up and pretty, but not afraid to get down and dirty.  She may come off as sweet and innocent, but is not afraid to speak her mind and tell it like it is.

JR Blog: Heyman’s Return, Austin’s Reality Show, Clay, Miz-Kofi

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with another blog update, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:

Paul Heyman’s Return To WWE: “Paul Heyman’s return to Raw Monday night was a pleasant surprise. Heyman’s skills help add star power to the WWE’s franchise broadcast and his role of representing Brock Lesnar is art imitating life to some degree. Heyman’s promo was effective because Paul wasn’t playing a character that he did not ‘feel’ but instead was simply being himself…amplified. The promo was also ‘money’ because Heyman has a legit, emotional investment in the topic on which he addressed.”

Brodus Clay: “My wife is a fan of the ‘Brodus Clay Experience’ as I like to call it and I suspect that many females are. Clay beating a former WWE Champion Monday night was a positive step for the big man who reminds me at times of the Mid South version of the One Man Gang with a little, American Dream mixed into the recipe.”

Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston form RAW: “Could have watched @HEELZiggler vs. Kofi Kingston compete for a much longer period of time Monday night. Both are rapidly evolving in my opinion but not as fast as some fans seemingly want. Patience isn’t so virtuous any longer.”

Steve Austin’s New Reality Show: “Congrats to Steve Austin @steveaustinBSR on his new deal with CMT to star in the new reality show Redneck Island. The new reality show is to begin airing in June and Steve is taping it now somewhere in Mexico, I think. CMT seems to be a nice fit for Steve on cable. For those asking, I do not know how those outside the USA access Country Music Television now known as CMT.”

Steve Austin To Host “Redneck Island” Reality TV Show

WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin will be hosting his own reality game show on cable channel CMT called “Redneck Island.”

The 10-episode series will feature Austin as host and 12 Southerns compete for $100,000 on a remote island. Austin will “guide the contestants through a number of hilrious mental and physical challenges.”

The press release indicate that Austin has also signed a development deal with CMT, “Austin will look to produce additional series for CMT with his production company, Broken Skull Ranch Productions.”

Here’s the full press release from CMT:

CMT INKS DEVELOPMENT DEAL WITH STEVE AUSTIN AND TAPS HIM TO

LOS ANGELES – May 7, 2012 – CMT has inked a development deal with actor and former WWE superstar Steve Austin, tapping him as host of a new 10-episode series REDNECK ISLAND, it was announced today by Jayson Dinsmore, EVP, Programming and Development, CMT.  Produced by 51 Minds Entertainment, REDNECK ISLAND takes 12 red, white and blue-collared Americans out of the South – and far away from cold beer – dropping them in a tropical paradise where they will compete for $100,000.  The redneck-style competition series will debut in June, paired with a second season of CMT’s hit series MY BIG REDNECK VACATION.  As part of his development deal, Austin will look to produce additional series for CMT with his production company, Broken Skull Ranch Productions.

REDNECK ISLAND begins with 12 men and women competing as teams in a fight for $100,000 cash.  From a remote location, Austin will guide the contestants through a number of hilarious mental and physical challenges designed to celebrate the group’s strengths and limitations.  At the end of each episode, teammates will send one competitor packing.

Batista’s Big Announcement, JR On Lesnar’s Return & more

– Several weeks ago, Batista teased on Twitter that he has a “major announcement” to make soon. Batista provided an update this week – stating that he’ll make the announcement in May – and that 2012 is about to get “real.”

Batista’s manager Johnny Ryan Jr. also tweeted the following this week:

“Closing these deals for @DaveBautista with the suits. Will be able to announce soon and it will be worth the wait!”

– Jim Ross wrote the following on Twitter this week about why Brock Lesnar has returned to WWE:

“Fans that naively think that money & being able to physically dominate people didn’t affect Lesnar’s return to WWE aren’t being honest. Word”

– After being asked on Twitter this week who his favorite WWE Diva is, Steve Austin said it’s Kelly Kelly:
