Steve Austin Interview: Reigns & Strowman, His Relationship With WWE, NXT & More

WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin recently appeared on Lilian Garcia: Making Their Way to the Ring show on AfterbuzzTV. Austin spoke about a number of topics, including Roman Reigns, plans to visit NXT, why he’s done with acting, scripted promos and much more. You can listen to the full interview at the bottom of this article. Here are some highlights sent in by the show:

Why He Is Done With Acting:

“All the stuff that I’m doing now is like passion projects like Broken Skull Challenge I love that show and acting I don’t really care about acting…no because you just, the memorization process, I mean for me to be you know on set you know and going through the paces, and hitting your marks, and doing another take, doing another take, and then someone else’s coverage, I’ve probably done ten to twelve movies and it was fine while we were doing them. You know being on the set is not fun for me, and don’t get me wrong if the right gig came along I would consider doing it I don’t mean to sound like a jerk, but people always think just because you came out of wrestling and you did a few movies like oh man you need to do more movies, well it depends on you know, I don’t really want to do more movies you know, but people always think this is what you should do. What I should do is what I’m doing.”

Roman Reigns’ Potential To Be A Big Star:

“I think Roman Reigns is going to be a big star—he’s a star right now, but he’s going to be a big star if he just keeps going down the road that he’s going and he’s going to figure it all out he’s not necessarily just a natural to the business, but he’s very very good and he’s only going to get better.”

WWE’s Roster During The Attitude Era:

“That was one of the most talented rosters in the history of the business so ya man first of all we had a stacked locker room, and heres the thing, like in the business of pro-wrestling hey man I made it for myself but we’re in it as a team because we’re traveling together, we’re like a carnival, this is pro-wrestling we got a card, your a match and theres eight other matches or ten other matches whatever the program is, so you’re all a team, and you’re all fighting to put asses in the seats. It would be real selfish for me to say oh man I want to be number one and I don’t want anyone to be close. No, I want to be number one and I want everyone to be kicking and scratching crawling so I can really say that I’m number so you wan the guy you’re working with to be as hot as you because the hotter your dance partner is the more people are going to want to see that so we had such a charismatic, talented group of guys in the ring on the horn with their gimmicks Vince was on fire with the ideas, the writing department, the booking department had great ideas so yes I’m glad we had the locker room we had.”

His Relationship With WWE:

“I’m still a part of the WWE, I still keep in contact with a lot of the guys and girls and Vince and Triple H and everybody, so I’m still you know in with the WWE.”

Not Wanting To Work A Full Time Schedule:

“I don’t like to travel anymore Lilian. It’s like when I was still in the WWE and my days before that because I give or take have been in the business thirteen or fourteen years until my neck crapped out and I got out of the business, I loved being on the road back in the day you know you’re a road warrior, you’re addicted to the road, then all of a sudden you’re out there and you’ve been on the road for ten, fourteen whatever more days and you’re thinking God dang man I really want to go home, and then you get home and you’re there for about a day and a half your like man I’m ready to get back on the road, so I mean its in your blood. But once you get out of the business—and it took me three years to get over getting out of the business, and I won’t tell that story because I told that story so many times, but my point is, you know when you’re in the business of being on the road with the WWE you’re a road warrior and that’s what you do, that’s your life, and you love it, and I’m very passionate about the business, it’s what I wanted to do with my life, it’s the only thing I wanted to do. I didn’t want to come out here and get into acting, I did it because I had to get out of the business of pro-wrestling but my point is when you turn back into what I call civilian mode, you know, you kind of lose all that interest in traveling.”

His Reasons For Walking Out In 2002

“It was a real stupid decision to fast forward there and go back to my family but ya when I heard about doing the favors you know from Jim Ross and I was in a hotel and I heard that information and I worked with Flair in Columbus, Georgia that night in a cage and that was Monday Night Raw in Atlanta and then I called Vince that night people heard the story a million times and I didn’t like the creative, I was burnt out and there had been a couple of real weird things that I thought were road blocks thrown at me that didn’t make sense from a booking standpoint, when you have an extremely hot talent who’s selling tickets and merchandise like crazy you just kinda keep throwing gasoline on him and I thought this was road block unadvertised, all about trying to help the next guy up but right now we’re running strong with me so anyway thats when I went home and if it hadn’t been for Jim Ross who knows what would’ve happened.”

Walking Out Being The Stupidest Thing He Could Ever Do:

“Because it was stupid, I mean here I am talking to Jim, he gives me creative, I don’t like it, so then you know he calls the old man and the old man tells Jim ‘Tell Steve to call me no matter what time it is, give me a call’ because we got TV — this is live Monday Night Raw, so I call Vince at two am that morning his time and he tells me the same creative and I’m thinking as you and me are sitting here eye to eye face to face and I’m thinking ‘all right so that’s what we’re gonna do, all right’, well you can’t read my mind but you can look at me, I don’t like what I’m hearing, so I was just thinking okay at the tone of my voice, it was stupid, I already knew right then, I already knew right then I was going to get on an airplane, book my flight and fly back to San Antonio’. “What I should’ve done was gone to the building man to man, face Vince McMahon and said ‘Hey you know I don’t really like Ed and here’s why I don’t like Ed I’m extremely hot right now and I want Brock to do well and you got a real blue chipper right there, he’s an absolute phenomenal freak, and he’s very charismatic, he’s gonna draw a lot of money but not right now it’s my time and we need to do something else, and if you do want to do that match well lets promote it, lets build it, and lets make something of it then make some money on a Pay Per View, and so I should’ve went there and talked to Vince man to man, face to face and sell it rather than going home—it was the dumbest thing I could ever do.”

Advice Vader Gave Him In WCW:

“I’ll never forget the advice that Leon White gave me a long time in WCW as Big Man Vader, he goes ‘Steve, always let a cooler head prevail’ you know, he goes think about things before you make a knee jerk reaction, because I’m real bad about making a knee jerk reaction. These days I’ll think about the knee jerk reaction but I won’t do it, I’ll think it through before I do anything and that just comes with being around, being in more situations where you can say okay man you really screwed up the last time, lets think about this, lets be a little big smart about it.”

Giving Back To The Younger Generation:

“I feel like when you get out of the business you should give back to the business and help that younger generation because if you look at it, if you look at the current locker room, okay, who is, and I’m not being a big head about this, I’m trying not to brag on what I’ve done because I never talk about my wrestling career unless someone brings it up, but I actually drew money, and when I got in the business I was making fifteen dollars a night, so I started at the very bottom and I ended up at the very top, so I’ve kind of seen a lot of things. I’ve been a heel and I’ve been baby, you know, and I’ve been a stranger to Vince and a great friend with Vince, so I’ve seen a lot of highs and lows and I can offer some good advice because a lot of things I have been there and I have done it, so if someone wants my opinion I always want to be able to convey it to them.”

Being Proud To Be A Role Model:

“Man, its pretty cool, I get a lot of emails to you know my email address for my podcast and man, literally a couple every week about people that I affected, or they got to live vicariously through the actions of Stone Cold Steve Austin, and you know whether it was like I don’t know just eating disorders or being bullied, just you know single parent households, or some people just lived in a home, but for some reason they found strength in that Stone Cold Steve Austin character, man it’s very flattering, and you know I worked my tail off to be successful and what I chose to do with my life —which was professional wrestling, and I had so much fun doing it, and the fact that I could really make a change, or inspire somebody, or give somebody strength, courage, whatever you want to call it, it’s really, really cool and I’m very proud of that, and while your’e doing it you know, I’m not driving down the road thinking okay you know how am I impacting peoples lives here you know I just kicked the crap out of Vince tonight you know maybe someone who’s not doing so well somewhere will see that and have a smile on their face, I’m not, you’re not thinking about that. It’s all these years later you get these emails from people that were watching you ten, fifteen, twenty years ago and they found strength through me or some of the other WWE characters or whoever it was in their life so it’s really cool to be able to do that.”

Plans To Visit NXT In The Future:

“I’ve been wanting to go down to NXT to talk to those kids down there…its just a pain in the neck to get down to Florida but one of these days I will.”

Scripted Promos In WWE:

“When I came back from my neck surgery thats kind of when that system kind of really came into play, in those last few years you know I got away with it because you couldn’t tell that I was doing it but the system changed and I just kind of adapted or adopted the system that they were throwing at me, but I always felt a little like I was maybe short changing myself or the business by doing that but thats what the system became so it is what it is.”

If He Misses The Spontaneity Of Live Wrestling:

“God dang not to book the territory or criticize or critique the business, I just love Lilian back in those old days, just the spontaneity, the spontaneity, when you’re on live TV it should be God dang man this is live anything can happen—well they’re still live anything can still happen but it’s very micro-managed and gone over to so much detail it’s like, the chances are nothing is going to happen that’s not supposed to happen, but when you have that feeling it’s like God dang man Steve’s coming back, Stone Colds coming back on RAW I don’t know what he’s going to say, well we know what he’s going to say right now—not too much because we’re going to hand him a script and tell him go say this.”

Roman Reigns & Braun Strowman:

“I think [Reigns] is doing fine now and I’ve been watching. You know some of the story lines haven’t been so good and you know when you gotta shove someone down peoples throats they gotta get a gut full of it sometimes and they got a gut full of it because you know maybe some of the lines that they had written for him weren’t the greatest ones ‘I’m not a bad guy, I’m not a good guy, I’m the guy’, kinda corny, but if you watch and you did Payback when the main event with him and Braun Strowman those guys crushed it and Roman Reigns getting beat 1, 2, 3 and then the steel chairs into his chest, he’s spitting up blood, well people watching the business these days they’re watching what the guys are doing and then they’re thinking about the writing.”

Getting Fired From WCW:

“Every now and then when Eric comes to LA he’ll give me a call and we’ll go drink a couple of beers that’s a hatchet thats been buried a long time ago I like Eric a lot but it was a deal where you know he didn’t see any money in me, and quite frankly if you lined up everybody in that locker room and said hey man pick all your stars and then throw out the scripts you know I was kind of starting to lose my hair, I didn’t really have a great gimmick, didn’t have the whole you know package put together yet so you know based on the amount of days that I had been injured, coming off a knee injury and then a tricep injury, you know he did what he thought he needed to do, but heres the thing going back to what I said about my mother, you know you tell me I cant do something well I’ll prove you wrong every single time, and I wanted to be a successful professional wrestler, and I came up with the Stone Cold gimmick, and I started cranking out merchandise and we started putting asses in the seats, but it wasn’t like hey this is a vendetta or this is revenge you’re one of the guys who let me go.”

Update On The Future Of The Stone Cold Podcast

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fiqwu_pXgqQ

Don’t expect to see the Stone Cold Podcast return to the WWE Network any time soon.

The popular sit-down interview show hasn’t been since last summer, when then-WWE Champion Dean Ambrose was a guest. The overwhelming consensus is that Ambrose’s appearance did not go well, with Austin essentially telling him to ‘show more effort’ if he wants to carry the company on his back.

Dave Meltzer commented on the situation on the the latest Wrestling Observer Radio. In response to a fan question asking why the Stone Cold Podcast hasn’t returned, Meltzer said management wasn’t happy with how Austin approached the role and was too “real” for what they’re looking for.

“The Ambrose one… I didn’t think it was a disaster, but many did.”  Meltzer said. “Steve tries to be real and they don’t want real. They want their version of real.” Meltzer stated.

Ambrose also revealed that Brock didn’t really want to do much in their WrestleMania match last year. We learned later that Lesnar didn’t take a lot of risks at WrestleMania because he was already training for his UFC return later that summer.

Other previous guests include Vince McMahon, Triple H, Paul Heyman, Paige, Edge and Christian, Brock Lesnar, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Big Show, Mick Foley, AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose.

Austin was said to have gotten some backlash as a result of the interview he did with Lesnar in October 2015 as well. In that interview he teased a possible WrestleMania match with Brock. In fact he mentioned if they were to wrestle it should be in a “Texas Death Match.”Vince was apparently upset about this, thinking fans would believe the match would happen since they mentioned it on-air.

On another episode, Austin expressed to Triple H that Chyna deserves to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, which probably didn’t go over too well either.

Meltzer would continue to speculate that the “Legends With JBL” interviews have essentially replaced Austin’s show. “JBL at least knows the framework of what they want, and Steve tries to be real. JBL will do their version of real”

Brian Pillman’s Son Contacts Former WWE Star About Training For Pro Wrestling

Brian Pillman Jr. recently contacted Lance Storm about training to be a professional wrestler at the Storm Wrestling Academy in Canada. Brian was referred to Storm by Steve Austin.

Brian Jr. was 3 years old when his father passed away on 10/5/1997. Pillman passed away from a previously undetected heart condition that also led to the death of his father several years before.

Stone Cold Says He Wouldn’t Mind Seeing Kurt Angle In The Royal Rumble, Talks Undertaker

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YYZ4iUgVGo

WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin recently did an interview with TV Insider to promote his Broken Skull Challenge show, and he noted that he’s looking forward to watching Sunday’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view. During the interview Austin gave high praise to The Undertaker, who will be a participant in the Rumble.

“I mean, how much left does The Undertaker got?” Austin asked. “He is a friend of mine. I don’t have his phone number or his email address. When we see each other we do catch up, though. The career that guy has at being almost 7 feet tall. The bigger you are in the business the more toll I think it takes on the body. You observe bumps differently. That guy has been through some wars. We used to always kid each other with who is going to last the longest. I got out in 2003, and that was 14 years ago, and this S.O.B. is still going.”

Austin says Taker’s career has been an “unbelievable ride,” and calls him a true badass. “There is only one guy who could have pulled that gimmick off the way he is doing it, and his name is Mark Calaway,” Austin said.

Stone Cold also commented on Kurt Angle’s Hall of Fame induction, and has fond memories of his backstage skits with the Olympic gold medalist. Austin noted that he had three broken bones in his back at the time and couldn’t wrestle, so he had to rely on comedy with Angle. He says he wouldn’t mind seeing Angle as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble on Sunday.

Austin Reveals How Vince McMahon Convinced Trump To Take The Stone Cold Stunner

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin is in the unique position of being able to say he gave a Stone Cold Stunner to a United States President. Austin recently took part in an interview with Complex Magazine where he discussed working with Donald Trump at WrestleMania 23 in 2007, and revealed how Vince McMahon went about convincing Trump to agree to take the Stunner.

“Vince says to me, ‘Steve, I’m going to see if I can get Donald to take the Stunner. I said, ‘you think?’ He says, ‘Oh yeah, it’ll be great, it’ll be great,'” Austin recalled. “[Vince] goes up to Donald and says, ‘Hey Donald, this is Stone Cold Steve Austin.’ I shook Donald’s hand. He goes, ‘Listen, I want to know if after the match, when everything is done, if Steve could hit the Stone Cold Stunner on you.’ Donald says, ‘You think it’d be a good thing?’ and Vince goes, ‘Oh, of course it would be. It would just blow the roof off the place.’ And Donald’s right hand guy was saying, ‘No, no, no! You don’t need to do this, we got other things to do!’ He’s trying to talk him out of it. And Donald says to Vince, ‘You think it’ll help?’ and Vince goes, ‘I promise you it’ll help.’ And Donald says, ‘Okay, I’ll do it.'”

Stone Cold ended up delivering the move to fellow Trump, and while his fellow WWE Hall of Famer didn’t take the move as well as a trained wrestler would, Austin gives him credit for trying.

“It wasn’t a picture-perfect stunner, but I give Donald Trump a hell of a lot of credit for being a man,” Austin said. “He was a stand-up guy, he was there to do business and we did business, so I respect the man for that. If I see him giving a speech on the TV, I don’t think, ‘Hey, I gave this guy a stunner.’ We were doing business and we did business. The fact that he is going to be the next President of the United States, it’s a hell of a story.”

Kurt Angle On Who He Wants To Induct Him Into The WWE HOF, What He’s Discussed With WWE

Kurt Angle spoke with SI.com’s “Extra Mustard” site today and revealed that he wants Steve Austin to be the one to induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. Angle said Austin being at the top of his list is a no-brainer.

“That’s a no-brainer,” said Angle. “I had just started with WWE and had a program with Austin right after I beat Rock for the world title. I had a quick skit with Stephanie and Triple H, and then it was right on to Austin. We had some memorable feuds and some very funny segments, so he is at the top of my list.”

“Steve was one of the most giving individuals,” he continued. “He took me in and allowed me to shine even when it was still his time. I don’t ever compare myself to Stone Cold. He is the guy who elevated wrestling to a level that nobody ever went before, but he enabled me to show my talents when he very well could have said no. He was a very giving individual, and he is one of the guys who had the biggest impact on my career.”

Angle also revealed that he was with his family when he got the call from Triple H last week. “I was with my wife and my three little ones when I found out, and I had my other two kids on the phone with me, so we were all together watching in unison,” shared Angle. “It was a really cool moment with my family. My younger kids don’t know about my career, but they looked at the screen and said, ‘Daddy’s on television!’ And then my younger daughter started calling me ‘Kurt Angle,’ and I said, ‘No! I’m Dad, not Kurt Angle.’”

While there’s much speculation on Angle returning to the ring for WWE, he insists there have been no talks about a return. He also says he has had no talks about being featured as a WWE 2K18 bonus.

“I have yet to speak to Vince, but I did talk with Triple H,” said Angle. “It was a great conversation. This is all about the Hall of Fame, nothing else, and I’m OK with that. WWE wanted to show their appreciation for my career there. Even though I feel it was short-lived at six-and-a-half years, I made enough of an impact that they felt I was worthy of the Hall of Fame. They didn’t want to talk about anything about the Hall of Fame, and I understood. This is the priority, and I’m going to enjoy this and see where it goes from here.”

Steve Austin Speaks On Why He Won’t Return To The Ring Like Goldberg

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo7XuPDc7yE

Stone Cold Steve Austin says he has no plans to make an in-ring return like Goldberg did last year. On the latest edition of the Steve Austin Show podcast, Austin answered a question from a fan about having one more match. Austin, currently 52, didn’t use the word “retired” but did indicate that his in-ring days are definitely behind him. Austin said he still loves wrestling, but that he’s enjoying his post-wrestling life.

Stone Cold noted on the podcast that he’s happy with his decision to “ride off into the sunset” after his 2003 WrestleMania match against The Rock. The WWE Hall of Famer added that he’s satisfied enough with his career that he doesn’t want to take on the pressure of a comeback match, and that’s the bottom line.

While Goldberg’s return against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series did generate positive buzz for WWE, Austin indicated that he feels the spotlight should be on the younger generation of the wrestling business. You can listen to the entire podcast with Austin’s fan Q&A here.

Jim Ross Picks Austin vs. Rock As The Greatest Rivalry Of All-Time

Jim Ross says when he first signed The Rock he knew he could be a very special pro wrestler, but had no idea he was going to be the “biggest movie star in the world.” In a recent interview with The Sun (UK), the former WWE announcer and Head of Talent Relations recalled The Rock’s legendary feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin. J.R. cited some of his career highlights as calling Steamboat vs. Flair and Undertaker vs. Michaels matches, but says the Rock vs. Austin feud stands out.

“There were a lot of great [feuds], but If I had to pick out a series or a rivalry I’d pick out The Rock and Austin because of what they meant to WWE at the time, and the business in general and where their lives have taken them since,” Ross said. “They established that great fanbase in WWE, and certainly in Rock’s case, he’s been able to parlay that into an amazing career.”

“I’ve been so blessed to call great matches in the ‘70s and ‘80s, but the matches that were the most significant were the three main events that Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock had at WrestleMania – 15, 17 and 19,” Ross concluded. “Although those three matches were excellent, what they meant to the business and what they meant to the talents were really special.”

J.R. took part in the interview to promote this weekend’s World Of Sport show on ITV in the UK. You can read the entire piece here.

Steve Austin Speaks On Goldberg’s First WWE Run Going Wrong & Why He Returned

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qudg8JCdMos

WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin recently appeared on the PWTorch Livecast to discuss the return of his friend Bill Goldberg. During the interview, Austin said he’s glad to see Goldberg back because he didn’t think his first run in WWE was very memorable.

Austin says he doesn’t know if the writing was to blame, or if Goldberg just “didn’t really fit in the system” in WWE in the mid-2000s, but this time around the fans embraced the former WCW World Champion. Stone Cold thinks that Goldberg’s second run in WWE is already going better than the first.

“It was about the crowd responding in such great fashion,” Austin said of Goldberg’s 2016 return. “I’m not sure Goldberg is the greatest promo guy that ever walked the planet that did business in the squared circle, but an A+ promo by Bill Goldberg handling the task at hand, all those emotions, it was completely real and authentic. I felt it was a great piece of television.”

Austin said that he’s excited for Goldberg’s second chance in WWE, and feels he handled his comeback on RAW about as well as anyone could. As far as what motivated Austin’s Longest Yard co-star to return to WWE, he says it wasn’t about the money.

“Yeah, there’s some dollars and some cents on the table that’s going to go to Bill Goldberg and the WWE, but this wasn’t about the money,” he stated.

Dean Ambrose Appearing On Stone Cold’s Podcast In 2 Weeks

Steve Austin’s next WWE Network interview has been announced for Monday, 8/8 after RAW in Anaheim. Austin will interview WWE Champion Dean Ambrose. Here’s a promo for the show:

Steve Austin Speaks On Roman Reigns’ WWE Suspension, Lesnar vs. Hunt

Stone Cold Steve Austin says it was drug testing day when he was backstage at last week’s RAW, and that WWE is very strict about the anti-drug policy.

In an interview with ESPN Radio’s Russillo & Kanell show, Austin says he doesn’t know what drug Roman Reigns got suspended for, but thinks the former Champion will bounce back.

“He got popped, and that’s just the way it is,” Austin said. “He owned it, and he’ll live to come back another day. He owned it, so I think the kid did the right thing. Sometimes these things happen.”

Austin also commented on Brock Lesnar returning to the octagon at UFC 200, saying he’s rooting for Lesnar but Mark Hunt will be a tough opponent for him.

Steve Austin Says AJ Styles Carried Roman Reigns During Their Feud: “That Was All AJ”

Stone Cold Steve Austin recently gave high praises to AJ Styles for his feud with World Heavyweight Title holder Roman Reigns, but didn’t have as much praise for the current champ.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Austin talked about the critically acclaimed matches between Styles and Reigns earlier this year, and seemed to give most of the credit to The Phenomenal One. The Texas Rattlesnake even called one of their matches an “all-time classic.”

“AJ Styles just carried Roman Reigns to two world class matches back-to-back,” Austin said. “The second one wasn’t as good as the first, but it’s hard to top an all-time classic. Reigns carried his end, but that was all AJ. They keep beating that f—— kid, and they’ve got a potential superstar on their hands. He’s only been working 16, 18 years, f—, he’s got it figured out. Put a rocket on his ass and send him to the moon. I would love to see them run with Styles. I called him over the last time I saw him, which was before he got into that string of really good matches, and we’d never met. I said, ‘Hey man, good luck.’

Austin also said he’s glad to see a veteran like Styles make it to the big league and get the paydays that come along with it. Stone Cold says he hopes to see Styles have a seven-figure earning year with WWE, because “he’s paid a million dues and he ain’t made no money.”

AJ Styles will be a guest on Stone Cold’s WWE Network podcast on June 20th after RAW.

Austin Says Ric Flair-Charlotte Segment Was “Real Bad” & “Hard To Watch”

While he says he’s a fan of the Flairs, Steve Austin says he wasn’t a fan of their segment on last week’s RAW. On episode 328 of The Steve Austin Show, Stone Cold says the segment where Charlotte kicked her Hall of Famer father out of the ring was “real bad.”

Austin explained that within 10 or 15 seconds of The Nature Boy grabbing the mic, he could tell what was going to happen next. “[Ric Flair] spilled the beans as soon as he went out there. He had only been talking 10 to 15 seconds and I said, ‘oh, he’s getting fired or she’s going to kick him out of the damn ring’ and that’s exactly what happened,” Austin said.

Austin says after Charlotte’s turn on her father, “she got lost” and tripped up because of the crowd’s reaction. Austin seems to put most of the blame on the WWE creative team, as he believes they over-scripted the segment.

“Whoever wrote that, and you know Ric is one of the best promos in the history of the business and you don’t need to be writing for Ric Flair. Just let him go out there and do his thing. But, so he’s going out there and he’s trying to memorize this script that someone wrote him and he spilled the beans, started tripping all over himself, and then, it only got worse from there. And then, Charlotte’s trying to recoup and she gets lost a couple of times and goes at the crowd and then kind of misspeaks and then it was extremely awkward and it was hard to watch because I’m such a fan of the Flairs.”

Steve Austin Reveals Why He’s Not Hosting Shane McMahon’s Tell All Podcast

Steve Austin spoke on his latest podcast about Mick Foley hosting the upcoming Shane McMahon “tell all” podcast on the WWE Network instead of him. Austin revealed that he would have been glad to participate, but he’s still got his “wing in a sling” and is apprehensive about traveling while recovering from recent shoulder surgery.

Foley stated yesterday that Austin had a prior commitment, but that’s not the case. Austin said he was ready to travel to Baltimore for the interview but he’d rather not risk all the work that’s been done on his shoulder.

Austin is expecting to be in a sling for 4 more weeks and will begin range of motion work in 3 weeks.

The Shane McMahon Tell All Podcast hosted by Mick Foley airs Monday, May 23rd immediately following RAW.

Austin Offers Advice To Simon Gotch About Spot That Injured Enzo Amore

Stone Cold Steve Austin was among those who called Enzo Amore after he suffered a concussion at Sunday’s Payback PPV. Austin recently said he had a good talk with Amore, and discussed the spot with Simon Gotch that went wrong on his podcast The Steve Austin Show.

Austin used his podcast to offer some advice to Gotch of the Vaudevillains, who threw Amore into the ropes which caused the concussion. “When you’re throwing a man through the ropes at that short of a distance,” Austin advised, “you back off the horsepower.” Austin says Gotch threw Amore into the ropes with “way too much force,” and instead he should just be guiding him towards the ropes with “a little bit of momentum.”

Austin also criticized Gotch for trying to pick up Amore by his head when he was in a bad position. His second piece of advice to the Vaudevillians member was not to pick his opponent up by their head if he has an “inkling that something went wrong.”

The WWE Hall of Famer said he thinks Gotch got excited in the moment and didn’t want to come down too hard on him, but that it was a “really scary bump.”

“Gotch, check on a man before you grab someone by the head if you suspect anything,” Austin stated. “And that’s just words of wisdom. I’m not eating your ass out. I’m just saying, ‘hey, ease up on the horsepower’.”
