WWE has announced that Sting will kick off this coming Monday’s edition of WWE RAW in Tampa, Florida.
As noted, Sting is not currently advertised for any upcoming RAW shows, however some appearances are expected leading up to the WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view regardless.
Sting returned to WWE storylines on last week’s RAW during the main event segment where a Seth Rollins statue was supposed to be unveiled. Instead, Sting made a surprise return and attacked Rollins, prompting Triple H to announce Sting vs. Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Night Of Champions on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
The Icon Sting is featured prominently on the official poster for WWE’s upcoming Night of Champions pay-per-view on September 20th. Sting returns to the ring for the first time since WrestleMania 31 and will challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight championship.
– NXT stars Tyler Breeze and Baron Corbin will be on the road with WWE’s main roster this weekend’s live events from
– NXT’s Rich Brennan has been promoted and is now the lead announcer of SmackDown.
– On last night’s SmackDown, Seth Rollins reacted to Sting’s surprise return on RAW and their upcoming title match at WWE Night of Champions. Rollins vows to crush Sting’s “old bones to dust.”
Following Sting’s surprise return to WWE TV at the conclusion of Monday’s RAW, WWE COO Triple H announced after the show that Sting will get a shot at Seth Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight championship at next month’s Night of Champions PPV. WWE officials decided on the match last week just days before SummerSlam, according to a report at PWInsider.com.
Regarding Sting’s appearance on RAW, crew members brought the covered platform to the ring on fork lift, with Sting in it the entire time. Sting was on the platform for nearly 20 minutes during the segment and his paint had visibly sweated off by the time he was revealed.
WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley took to Facebook to post a new blog after watching Monday’s newsworthy edition of WWE RAW. Below is what the Hardcore Legend had to say.
EPIC RAW, POTENTIAL PROBLEM
I loved WWE Raw – I really did, Loved all of it….almost. The Heyman promo, the Inspirational Bo Dallas promo, that Brock didn’t quite buy into, The Dudleyz, The Sting thing. All of it was great, Except for the Divas match. For the 2nd time in two weeks, ?#?RAW? turned a little nasty the ladies
A friend sent me a message about the Divas, The guy is bot an official writer – just a guy who loves this stuff enough to write a message with suggestions. Here they are, Take a look. I think you’ll like it.
“The Divas division now has to consist of independent concurrent story lines. The WWE Universe wants to see a fight. Grudge matches. One versus one. Leave your entourage in the back. That is a big match feel. Not contrived weekly variations of all the Divas put together for a couple of segments. They need a WORLD Championship. And, a WORLD Tag Team Championship. This is why the Barclays trolled their Raw match. Their Summerslam Elimination match didn’t allow for the opportunity for the final-two-competitors pop. Big difference between those two examples and Saturday night. Frankly, The Sasha/Bayley pre-match video package gave me more chills. I don’t know if Sara del Rey works with the main roster Divas, but she should.”
As reported on Monday evening, the Sting vs. Seth Rollins match at WWE Night Of Champions will be for Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, it was noted that Vince McMahon has not signed off on Rollins defending his WWE United States Championship at Night Of Champions yet. It was also noted that it’s believed that Rollins will pull double-duty that night, defending his U.S. title in one match, and his WWE World Heavyweight title in the main event against Sting.
It’s worth pointing out that the current angle involving Rollins as a double-champion and the rumors that he will be pulling double-duty is similar to what was just done recently in Ring Of Honor with ROH World Champion and ROH TV Champion Jay Lethal.
The Icon Sting made a surprise return in the closing segment of Monday’s RAW, appearing under the curtain where Seth Rollins’ statue was supposed to be and laying a beatdown on the WWE World Heavyweight champion.
Sting will face WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins at Night Of Champions on Sunday, September 20th from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
Following his surprise return at the conclusion of Monday’s post-SummerSlam edition of RAW, “The Icon” Sting has now found himself in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture.
As announced at the end of RAW, Triple H appeared on the WWE Network immediately after the show to address what happened.
Renee Young spoke with both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon on the WWE Network after RAW about Sting crashing the Seth Rollins statue presentation and beating down the WWE World Heavyweight and United States Champion.
From there, HHH made the huge announcement that Sting will be challenging the WWE World Heavyweight and United States Champion Seth Rollins at the WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line, but his WWE United States Championship will not.
After returning home on Saturday following a WWE SummerSlam autograph signing, Sting flew back to New York City on Sunday evening. It appears the WCW legend is scheduled for tonight’s WWE RAW taping from Brooklyn, New York.
There had been rumors that Sting was originally going to be competing at SummerSlam, teaming with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose in their match against The Wyatt Family. Those plans changed, but we could very well see Sting back on WWE television tonight.
According to a report at PWInsider.com, both Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker will be at RAW. Whether they remain on camera remains to be seen.
Brian Fritz of Sporting News caught up with Dean Ambrose ahead of Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view and asked him about the rumors regarding Sting possibly appearing at the event.
“I didn’t hear that,” said Ambrose. “Anytime you get to see Sting in WWE, it’s a dream. Nobody ever thought he would be here, to see him at WrestleMania was awesome.”
Ambrose continued, “I have a feeling, you know, Sting is always very mysterious and he keeps it real like that, and I like that about Sting. I would hope that we see Sting in a WWE ring again.”
Since the interview, it has been reported that Sting left the New York City area to travel to Chicago for a Wizard World appearance, and will not be appearing at SummerSlam, despite the rumors.
– A new episode of WWE Swerved is scheduled to air on the WWE Network this coming Monday night immediately after the post-SummerSlam edition of WWE RAW. The official description for the show reads as follows:
“Rosa and Foxy meet a sleazeball dad and his loudmouth kid. Zack Ryder helps a pregnant woman. Heath Slater gets treated to a messy 3D TV.”
– The latest edition of WWE’s “Canvas 2 Canvas” web show, which you can check out below, features art work from WWE artist Rob Schamberger on The Undertaker and Sting.
– WWE posted the following video of Cesaro’s workout for his big match at this Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view.
– Daniel Bryan is now in New York City for this weekend’s WWE SummerSlam activities. Sting, however, has already left NYC for a Wizard World appearance in Chicago and will not be appearing at SummerSlam on Sunday.
– Wrestling journalist Dave Scherer will be the guest on the next Jim Ross “Ross Report” podcast, which drops on Tuesday night at 9pm EST. at PodcastOne.com.
– WWE posted the following video looking at John Cena granting his 500th “Make-A-Wish” earlier this week.
As recently as last month, there had been talk of Sting competing at SummerSlam, teaming with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose against the Wyatt Family. One of the reasons WWE decided not to use Sting at this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view is due to the fact that the card is already loaded with stars like The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, actor Stephen Amell and others.
With that said, it’s possible WWE is waiting to use Sting as a hook to sell the WWE Network in September for Night Of Champions, which takes place in Texas, where Sting currently lives.
If Sting is used in September, it’s possible he will work the previously rumored six-man tag-team match with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose against Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. A big factor in this match happening is Erick Rowan’s status, as he’s currently out of action due to injury and might not be back until November.
Stone Cold Steve Austin was recently confirmed as the cover star for WWE 2K16, the next WWE video game which is due to be released in October on a number of platforms.
WWE.com recently spoke with the Texas Rattlesnake to promote the game, you can check out highlights from the interview below:
On being the cover star of WWE 2K16:
“It caught me completely off guard. I was very surprised when I got the phone call. You know, I figured I’d been gone for such a long time; it’s been a while.
I think it really speaks to how Austin and The Attitude Era resonated with the fans back then and, obviously, it resonated enough for 2K to pick a guy like me. I’m thankful to have had so many dance partners and so many Hall of Famers to work with. It was really an all-star cast of people in a 20-by-20 squared circle, entertaining people. At the end of the day, you really gotta thank the fans for being there for us. It’s an extreme honor.”
If there was any Superstar from his past who he would like to go one more round with:
“A guy that I’ve always had so much respect for and only got a chance to meet one time was Andre the Giant. So, I would like to play Andre the Giant as myself, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. And some of the new guys that they’re bringing into this game like Finn Bálor, who I think is an outstanding talent and a veteran who’s moved to WWE, but a guy who is probably one of the best wrestlers in the world. There are many dream matchups that I could sit and talk to you about all day.”
The amount of respect he has for John Cena:
“Man, John Cena. I got a lot of respect for that guy. You talk about a road warrior, a guy that works his tail off, shows up with a smile on his face every single day and adds himself to shows when he’s needed. Hell, even when he’s not needed, the guy just loves to get on the road, and he loves the company that much. He’s an absolute workhorse.”
WWE 2K16 is due to be released on October 27th, 2015, in North America and October 30th, 2015, internationally. Check out the full interview with Steve Austin at this link.

– PWInsider noted earlier in the week that WWE have currently no plans creatively to use Sting in the SummerSlam PPV next month. This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter has confirmed this.
The Observer notes that the original plans were to have Sting appear a week or two before the PPV as the third partner for Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose against The Wyatt Family.
Sting was apparently told a while back that he would be on the event and had reportedly gotten himself into “ridiculously good shape for his age (56) – though recently he was told those plans had changed.
It was believed that bringing in Sting to team up with Ambrose and Reigns would improve the reaction for Roman Reigns in New York City.
– Tyson Kidd, who recently had neck surgery has received a gift from a group of fans on Reddit. His wife WWE Diva Natalya posted the following on Instagram:
– Here is the synopsis for Total Divas airing on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 9/8 CT on E!: “Nattie is caught in a web of lies after she invites her sister to move in with her; Nikkie is concerned that Brie isn’t taking Bryan’s health seriously enough; and Trinity’s future hinges on her inner bad girl.” The episode is titled “Good Diva, Bad Diva.”
– With the NBA off-season in full swing, Cleveland Cavaliers star forward LeBron James took a moment to connect with his fans as he held an impromptu Q&A session with his Twitter followers on Tuesday afternoon. James, a self-admitted wrestling fan, responded to a question asking who is his favorite wrestler of all-time.

Sting was also rumoured to be featuring in the feud between Arrow star Stephen Amell and Stardust which was due to build up to a SummerSlam encounter.

We have reported about how there are plans in WWE for Sting to eventually become involved in the Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns storyline, which is part of the reason why Luke Harper reunited with Wyatt to put The Wyatt Family back together at WWE Battleground this past Sunday night.
The current belief is that Sting and Reigns vs. Wyatt and Harper will take place at next month’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view, however it was also noted that a new member of The Wyatt Family could be introduced, as Erick Rowan is injured, and if so, the match could become a six-man match with Dean Ambrose being added to the Sting/Reigns team.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Sting is not expected to be brought into the storyline on television until late in the game, likely as a big surprise.
Last night at WWE Battleground, we saw Luke Harper interfere in Bray Wyatt’s match with Roman Reigns, attacking Reigns and helping Bray emerge victorious. This reunion of the former Wyatt Family members is being done to set up a program involving Sting at SummerSlam.
The original plan for the match at SummerSlam was going to be all 3 members of the Wyatt Family against Sting, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. With Erick Rowan out of action due to injury, it now looks like we’ll be seeing Wyatt & Harper vs. Sting and Reigns.
There is already some internal concern that the rowdy Brooklyn crowd could cheer Sting and boo Reigns.
WWE SummerSlam takes place on Sunday, August 23rd from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
In a career spanning 30 years, Steve Borden, the man best known to his millions of fans worldwide as Sting, became a pivotal part of WCW during the late 1980’s before reinvigorating his character during wrestling’s boom period of the mid-90s as the ‘crow’ Sting persona that helped make the Monday Night Wars so exciting. He connected to generations of wrestling fans like few could with his exciting style and captivating character. Now, for the first time in his career, he is coming to the UK to travel through the country telling stories and answering your questions.
The Franchise of WCW was hugely successful in the UK when he would tour here as part of one of the world’s largest pro wrestling companies and later when he would return and headline shows with TNA. In the US, he became a pop culture icon as he fronted a national commercial for Sprite and even had his own credit card during the late 1990’s.
This will be the first and probably only time that fans will be able to get their photo taken with him in his iconic black and white FACEPAINT. Sting wants to give his UK fans the full experience so they can get a picture with The Icon looking like he’s on his way to the ring to do battle with villains like the nWo.
Earlier this year, Sting was one of the headline acts of WrestleMania in front of over 70,000 fans in San Jose, CA. Just 6 months after his epic bout with Triple H, he’ll be answering questions, telling stories and breaking his silence on what led to him finally signing and stepping into a WWE ring.

Some type of outside interference is expected in the finish of tonight’s Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt match at WWE Battleground.
According to the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, there have been plans for Luke Harper to get involved in the Reigns-Wyatt feud, possibly tonight.
It’s also worth noting that this is also the angle where Sting is rumored to take part in as well, as Sting is expected to be involved in the same match as Wyatt at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view.
