Sting Posts Teaser For Monday’s RAW, Backstage News On What It Could Mean

Wrestling legend Sting posted the following teaser on his official Twitter account this weekend, with the date of Monday’s RAW mentioned. The belief is this is something to do with the new WWE 2K15 video game.

As noted earlier this week, Sting has signed a merchandise agreement with WWE and the company has been selling his merchandise at their live events with the belief that he will wrestle a match for them at WrestleMania next year in Santa Clara, California.

  • Update On Sting’s WWE Status, Legal Issues Between CM Punk & WWE

    – WWE has now completely removed any and all CM Punk merchandise from their WWE Shop website. As noted, Punk’s lawyers sent WWE a 22-page legal letter regarding royalties owed from merchandise sales that included his likeness.

    – Speaking of merchandise, Sting items are being sold at WWE live events. Sting has a merchandise contract with WWE and as noted several times in the past, many expect him to work a match at next year’s WrestleMania in Santa Clara, California in what would could be his one and only WWE in-ring appearance ever.

  • Dolph Ziggler On If CM Punk Will Return To WWE, Sting/WWE, Lesnar’s Schedule

The following are highlights of a new CBS Cleveland interview with Dolph Ziggler:

Will Dolph Ziggler be billed from Cleveland now that The Miz is billed from Hollywood: “That is in the works. I don’t know that it’s going to happen but I have pushed for it before and now it kind of makes sense and there’s a chance for it. As of now it’s Hollywood, Florida so we’ll see”

His thoughts on the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar not being on Raw every week: “Eight years ago, it would have made me really mad with Rock coming back and guys who come back just for WrestleMania. It’s a two part story. It makes me so mad that we can’t do a show without those guys. But here’s the business side: we need those guys to get eyes on a show that normally wouldn’t get them so you can see these up and coming guys so one day down the line in twenty years when I’m doing something else and they say “Hey we need you to get on this card so we can highlight these twenty other guys who are up and coming”. It’s a circle of life and a circle of business. If they weren’t making money, they wouldn’t keep doing it.”

Who is next for Lesnar? “The way he beat up Cena is something I’ve never seen before in our business so it makes you want to see who the hell is going to beat this guy. Who can?”

His thoughts on Sting coming to WWE: “Just watching that commercial for 2K15 the first time it debuted, we were all like “Oh, is this the thing?!”. We were backstage and we crowded around the monitor to see a one second thing where they showed his mask and everyone flipped out because it’s that big of a deal. There are so few special things left that haven’t happened in this business so having Sting coming back no matter what he does, or if he comes back, just to have him show up one night would just blow the roof off for us backstage and for the fans of course.”

Does he believe CM Punk when he says he will “never ever” be back in a wrestling ring? “I’ve always been told to never say never in this business or “this guy will never work here” but yet here they are. So you never know. So far of all the nevers I’ve ever heard none of them have ever stuck but you never know.”

  • Jim Ross Q&A: Who Should Sting Face In WWE?, AJ Styles/WWE, ROH & TNA

The following are highlights of a new website Q&A update by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On who the best WrestleMania opponent, besides Undertaker, would be for Sting: “[Randy] Orton would work but so would HHH. I think HHH vs. Sting would be interesting and feel that they’d have good chemistry.”

On how he thinks Brock Lesnar could be the face of WWE while working a part-time schedule: “It was mere speculation as it will go one way or another as to who the fans embrace or not. Lesnar’s not working a full time schedule in any role at any time in his future career so it would have to be done creatively but it could be done. The top dog or WWE Champ doesn’t need to be on TV every week whatsoever.”

On whether or not AJ Styles should change his character if he were to sign with WWE: “I don’t think, unfortunately, that it is any thing that we need to discuss because WWE is highly unlikely to ever sign the talented AJ who seems content on what he’s doing now a days. Great talent without question.”

On how TNA and ROH can compete with WWE: “TNA and ROH only need to focus on their brand and eliminate WWE from their mind, by and large. If they commit to their brand, develop new talents, have strong TV outlets, and use logical booking philosophies, they can be more profitable. No one is ever going to threaten WWE’s spot at the top.”

  • Jim Ross Blog: Jake Roberts’ Health, Cena/Lesnar, Success Of The Ross Report

The following are highlights of the latest Jim Ross blog:

On the success of his Ross Report podcast: “We have had amazing success in the podcast world as of late with the Sting podcast being downloaded well over a million times which should bell any one doing market research that the wrestling public, in a large part, want to see the Stinger in a WWE ring. I’m still of the mindset that Sting only needs to do one match, a retirement match vs. The Undertaker at WM31 of which Taker wins and then faces the WWE Champion at WM32 in a title vs. retirement match in AT&T Stadium aka Jerry’s World in Arlington, Texas. Taker wins that one too and then retires the next night on RAW leaving the WWE Title vacant which would see a tournament utilized to determine the new champion.”

“This bit of fantasy booking that I first dropped on our Ross Report podcast weeks ago is obviously dependent on Taker’s health of which I do not know the status.”

“We received some of our most favorable feedback on my recent conversation with @TonySchiavone24 on our podcast which I truly appreciate but most of all I enjoyed reconnecting with Tony after all these years. We’ve bowed to stay in contact with each other as our tomorrow’s aren’t guaranteed.”

On Jake Roberts’ health: “Speaking of the DDT our best get well wishes go out to WWE HOFer Jake Roberts who’s hospitalized in Las Vegas with double pneumonia. Here’s hoping that Jake makes a full recovery. His podcast appearance on the Ross Report was one of our best down and dirty, tell it like it is shows we’ve done.”

On Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena: “Regarding Cena, I’d love to see him begin to have a mat metamorphous as he prepares to go to battle with Brock again. That could come in the form of dead serious promos, ring attire tweaks, in ring actions which could be as simple as getting himself disqualified by physically abusing a referee or even confronting his biggest ally Michael Cole. A sit down with Cole and Cena with Cena going off would get fan’s attention.”

“I do feel that a change in Cena’s persona leading into NOC is needed and to not do something would be a mistake.”

  • Goldberg Speaks On Sting Wrestling In WWE, Tony Stewart Situation & More

The following are highlights of a new CBS Atlanta interview with Bill Goldberg:

Will Sting wrestle in WWE?: “You never know what WWE is doing. You never know what any of these guys are doing. You don’t know if they’re publicizing it to ramp up for an in-ring return or an appearance of if they’re just hinting at it so that they can sell more video games. You just never know.”

What wrestling appearance he’ll make (mostly signings): “I obviously look at the roster before I choose to attend one of these, which plays a huge role in whether I do it or not. For the most part it’s a good time.”

Tony Stewart situation: “It’s a tragedy on both sides. Nobody knows what happened. Nobody knows what’s in Tony’s mind. Everybody knows his past as far as his aggressive driving and his willingness to trade paint, which is what NASCAR is all about. … I think the only fault of Tony in this situation is being part of the group of guys the last 20 years that have shown their emotion on television and have been allowed to get out of their cars and do whatever it is they have done. They set bad examples for kids like (Kevin) Ward. … I just don’t think it’s within the realm of possibility that Tony Stewart could run somebody down. There’s zero validity to that.”

  • Sting Talks About Wrestling Triple H If Undertaker Is Retired

Sting spoke to Brian Fritz of the Orlando Sentinel during SummerSlam weekend and said if The Undertaker has wrestled his last match, he wants to face Triple H at WrestleMania.

“I do believe I have enough left in my tank for one more match and I would love for that match to be against Taker. If that can’t happen, Triple H, I think. I just would like to have one more match. I would love to say I had one match under the WWE banner and, of course, WrestleMania. Who wouldn’t want to say that they wrestled at WrestleMania at least one time.”

Sting said WWE management (Vince McMahon and Triple H) have made him feel very welcomed and comfortable. He hopes to parlay his video game deal into an actual role with the company, specifically as an ambassador for WWE.

“Yeah, I’m open to that, definitely. I’m open to whatever doors may or may not open. I love the business so yeah, I can see myself being an ambassador,” Sting said.

Backstage Update On Sting’s WWE Status, WWE’s Plans For Him If He Signs

All weekend long, Sting pushed hard the idea of a match with Undertaker at WrestleMania 31 next year. He actually went to Stamford, Connecticut and met with WWE’s merchandise crew, which is a clear indication that a deal is close to being officially finalized between the two sides.

Sting has noted that in his mind, he wants to have just one WWE match and nothing else, however it is said that it is not set in stone and due to the fact that Sting is in good shape and some people in the company are wanting him to do more, he may end up wrestling more than just one match.

As noted on Sunday, Sting mentioned that if Undertaker does not come back to wrestle next year, he would like to wrestle either Triple H or John Cena.

  • VIDEO: Sting Makes It Clear He Wants To Face Undertaker At WrestleMania 31

Sam Roberts of SIRIUS-XM caught up with “The Icon” Sting for an interview in Los Angeles earlier this weekend.

During the interview, Sting made it very clear that he wants to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31.

“It doesn’t diminish things. I did have a moment of, “Ah, it’s over, I’ll never be able to get in the ring with Taker.’ But just because he lost doesn’t mean he’s done or leaving. I just can’t imagine Taker leaving or being done. I just can’t imagine that. I don’t know what’s going on with him for sure. Man, I think Taker vs. Sting doesn’t need a streak storyline, we just need Taker and Sting.”

  • Roman Reigns Sends A Message To Sting, Talks About Possibly Acting In Movies

The following are highlights of a CBS Los Angeles interview with Roman Reigns:

On if he has any ambitions to work in Hollywood: “I’m willing to try anything and gain a little experience in anything. Is it something that is a big goal of mine? I can’t say that it is right now because I’m so caught up in WWE. (I’m) trying to be the face of this company and the top guy and have the WWE World Championship.”

On a message he has for Sting: “For his sake, if he steps in the ring, I hope he stays away from me. I’m not the guy to run into these days. I think it’s pretty cool just to be on the (SummerSlam) panel with him. Just to chat and BS a little bit with all those guys. It’s going to be a good time and anything can happen. But if he steps in the ring, he’s a seasoned veteran, he knows what he’s doing. But there’s a whole bunch of youngins on this roster that are hungry and we’re not trying to give any space for anybody else.”

  • 5 Questions Following Monday’s Raw (8/4)

Last night’s Raw was held in the supposedly great state of Texas. Fans in attendance were treated to the return of Mark Henry, as well as an entertaining contest between Dean Ambrose and Alberto Del Rio.

Although John Cena and Brock Lesnar were both notably absent on Sunday, the WWE did their best to promote the SummerSlam main event. As always, a few questions were answered on Monday, but many still remain. Here are five questions that need to be answered following Monday’s Raw.

    5. Did Fans Witness the Burial of Cesaro?

    rvd-cesaro

It is no secret that the WWE has no idea what to do with Cesaro right now. Once one of the most over superstars in the company, Cesaro has been relegated to minor roles since the return of Brock Lesnar. After failing to join the Authority a few weeks back, Cesaro has been in a slump, once again losing to Dolph Ziggler in a short match on Monday.

There are rumors that Cesaro’s push is being limited because the company wants to focus on pushing Roman Reigns. It makes sense to want to promote a young superstar, but others who got over on their own should not be punished as a result. Let us hope that the company soon finds something for Cesaro instead of wasting his talent.

    4. Which Stipulation Will Dean Ambrose Choose?

    dean-ambrose

Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins competed in a beat the clock challenge last night, with the winner having the ability to choose the stipulation for their match at SummerSlam. Ambrose won after a long battle with Alberto Del Rio, and also assured Seth Rollins would not win his match with Heath Slater.

The Lunatic Fringe now gets to choose the stipulation at tonight’s SmackDown taping (check in tonight for spoilers if you’re too eager to wait until Friday). He will probably choose something typical like a no-holds barred match, but here’s to hoping he chooses a ladder match for the contract. Which stipulation do you think Ambrose will choose?

Sting Featured In New WWE 2K15 Teaser (Video), Most Patriotic Submission Move

  • Jim Ross Blog: Impact Wrestling Thoughts, Dixie & Russo On The Ross Report?, Sting

The following are highlights of the latest blog by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On his next FoxSports.com project: “I’m working on a pre Summer Slam piece for FoxSports.com on John Cena specifically as it relates to why many perceive John to be so polarizing. If you have an opinion please tweet me @JRsBBQ or provide me your thoughts at ‘Ask JR’ here on the site.”

On part two of Sting on The Ross Report: “Part two of my conversation with Sting drops this Tuesday night at 9 pm eastern time on podcastone.com and iTunes. I loved catching up with the Stinger on part one even though many thought I was too involved in the conversation with an old friend. I will address that matter going forward but I can tell you that doing these interviews via the telephone are much more challenging than doing them in person which is impossible to do with me in Oklahoma and my guests coming to us from all over the country. Nonetheless I will continue to refine the process and hopefully take less trips to the woodshed from a few keyboard warriors.”

On some future Ross Report guests: “Also, this Tuesday evening I will have a visit with my mentor Cowboy Bill Watts for a future Ross Report. Can’t wait on that one as the outspoken Cowboy will hold nothing back and his views on ring psychology and his overall philosophy of pro wrestling is as viable today as it was during Bill’s peak years as a talent, booker, and territory owner.”

“I’ve communicated with Dixie Carter on being a guest on our podcast in the future and potential dates are being contemplated.”

“Vince Russo and I had a civil conversation this past week for our podcast coming up with him even though we still have differing opinions of how the pro wrestling bushiness should be conducted. In my later years, I’ve come to realize that people can disagree on things that they are passionate about without coming to blows or having a cuss fight. And yes, I asked Vince about the creation of the Oklahoma character in WCW. I think that you will like this conversation a great deal when it drops in a few weeks.”

“Working on dates to have both Matt and Jeff Hardy on the Ross Report together in the next few weeks. That podcast will be a blast. It might be just me but seeing the two North Carolina brothers back in tag bouts just feels right and, essentially, new again.”

On a Brock Lesnar vs. Cesaro program: “Looks like WWE is building towards a Brock Lesnar vs. Cesaro match down the road of which I can’t wait to watch if it does become a reality.”

On this week’s TNA Impact Wrestling show: “Good job Thursday night by @OfficialTaz and @RealMikeTenay on the Impact Wrestling show. They had some solid content to work with and doing legit play by play and keeping the TV viewer’s mind focused on what the viewer is seeing works more often than not. Pro wrestling commentary is still about telling plausible stories with the proper amount of passion depending on the moment and understanding that unrelated banter helps erode the suspension of disbelief.”

“Bobby Lashley seems to be much more comfortable working in TNA than he did in WWE or at least it appears that way. He certainly makes for an imposing World Champion.”

The belief within WWE is that there is a considerable amount of interest in Sting following the WWE 2K15 announcement, more so than when the announcement was made last year regarding Ultimate Warrior in WWE 2K14.

Because Sting is more current and there’s a feeling that he may actually wrestle a match for WWE, that seems to be the reason for the additional excitement.

  • Mr. Anderson Talks Sting In WWE, TNA’s Six-Sided Ring, The Attitude Era & More

The following are highlights of a new CBS New York interview with Mr. Anderson:

On if wrestlers had a say in the six-sided ring returning: “As far as I know (wrestlers) didn’t have any. As far as I know that was strictly an organizational thing. You know, the higher ups in the company going off of the fans vote on it. I believe that was completely out of our hands. I had no say in it as far as I know.”

On whether or not the Attitude Era is now holding pro wrestling back: “I sort of think that if fans are holding on to ECW and that era and things from the past, I sort of think that means we’re not giving them what they want to see… I think the best way to go about that is to keep trying new things until something works. And that’s what we do. That’s what our writers do. They’re continuously coming up with new ideas.”

On if Sting told TNA he was going to WWE: “No, he didn’t make any mention. This is the nature of our business. The wrestling business… people come and people go. It’s sort of been that way forever.”

  • Hulk Hogan Speaks On Sting Wrestling In WWE, Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena & More

The following are highlights of a new Busted Open Radio interview with WWE Hall Of Famer Hulk Hogan:

On Brock Lesnar and John Cena: “Well, Brock is a phenom. His credibility is over the top, but you got to realize John Cena is the man. He’s the foundation of the whole company. He’s the guy that they bet on and his attitude is he loves the company. He loves being on the road, he’s got wrestling in his blood. And for him to be so graceful when he’s tired and there’s no sleep, no food and these Make-A-Wish kids come to him even for five minutes, he’ll spend a whole day with them. His priorities are in order. No matter what whether he wins or loses he’s still the man. To me, I’ve been around for a long time and I’ve done a lot to help this business, but it fails in comparison to what John Cena has done. In my opinion, John Cena is the greatest WWE champion of all time. If Brock Lesnar was to beat him, creative storyline wise yeah you have something there. I hope he knows he’s got huge shoes to fill. I don’t think Cena’s going anywhere. I may go out there and hit Brock with a chair just so he doesn’t win.”

On Sting wrestling in WWE: “He made his debut at Comic Con and that’s all well and good. I ran into him at the airport because we’re all on the same flight. I said to him that he needs to wrestle and this is something that needs to be done. He’s never established himself on the big stage. No disrespect to his accomplishments, but he was always a southern type of wrestler and always was with NWA or WCW. He has to make that statement. He’s still got it and he can still do it and he’s still over. If it’s not The Undertaker, he needs to wrestle Cena. That’s the match. You gotta get in there and have to make your mark. It can’t be just a game or an action figure.”

The following are highlights of a new Digital Spy interview with Paul Heyman:

On Sting in WWE: “I think Sting would be denying his fans a great moment if Sting did not step into WWE competition at least once. I have always been a huge admirer of what Sting brings to the table and his relationship with his audience, and I would be dramatically disappointed if Sting does not wrestle a WWE match.”

On why fans are having a hard time letting go of CM Punk: “It’s a very difficult break-up when an audience loses its ability to thrust its adulation upon their hero. CM Punk clearly established during his time as a Paul Heyman Guy that he was, as the billing suggested, The Best In The World.”

“So when he abruptly disappears and the audience doesn’t have the ability to say goodbye or shower him with their affection, then it causes a situation. It causes the audience to miss him even more vociferously, because they never had the closure of letting him know how much they appreciate his hard work.”

  • Jeff Hardy Speaks On Retirement, TNA/Spike TV Situation, Sting, CM Punk & More

The following are highlights of a new Alternative Nation interview with Jeff Hardy:

Moving onto wrestling, the first thing I’ve got to ask, is what’s your reaction to the reports that SpikeTV won’t be renewing their contract with TNA, and all of the crazy stories flying around?

I don’t know, I’m not a social network guy, I don’t even read timelines or tweets. But I’m sure negotiations are – I still have hope. It’s not really my problem, but I hope we remain on Spike, I hope they can work something out. Gosh, I hope 1 or 2 years from now we’re still coming on every Thursday night on Spike. I don’t know, I go to the shows, I do the best I can in the ring. That’s my commitment to the company, is to do what I can do to make the show good. It’s their job to use me in the right fashion. As far as re-signing with Spike, I don’t know what’s going to happen. I hope we remain.

You’ve gone through a lot of character changes in the last year. How did bringing your Willow character to TNA come about, and when and why did you go back to being Jeff Hardy recently?

Years ago, I think my 2nd year in TNA on this 2nd run, my buddy Shannon Moore and his wife, she’s a phenomenal seamstress, and she made me a Willow mask. We’d thrown the idea around, but my hair was short, so I was like: ‘I need to grow my hair back if I want this to really look right.’ She made the mask, and then some time passed, and then maybe a year and a half or so later, my hair got longer. Jeff Jarrett and I started talking about the possibility of bringing Willow to TNA. I was like, ‘Yeah!’ I was kind of intimidated, but it’s one of those things that when I look back on my career, I’ll be glad I that I did it.

It’s something I would have loved to do years ago, but the timing was never right. WWE never would have went for it. They would never want ‘Jeff Hardy staying covered, because [he’s] this money maker.’ But that’s what’s so cool about TNA being open-minded, they take a few risks, especially with me, and letting me do that. Because instead of that aggressive heel bad guy character that Willow was back in the OMEGA days, I think now that we’ve experimented with it, it can be a more kid friendly type of deal. Because my daughter Ruby just loves Willow, Kurt Angle’s son Kody loves Willow too. When Jeff Hardy came back, I was just starting to see masks in the crowd, it was just getting rolling good.

But then the reason for Jeff Hardy’s return, is obviously because Matt Hardy came back, and naturally we wanted to do some Hardy Boyz tag matches. That’s the big match this week on Destination X, Thursday night at 9PM on SpikeTV, it’s going to be the Wolves and the Hardy Boyz for the World Tag Team Titles. But that’s basically why Willow is not around right now, because the Hardy Boyz have reunited.

You mentioned Matt being back in TNA, your facing the Wolves on Impact, and Team 3D on an upcoming episode. What’s it like tagging with Matt again after awhile being at such a good place in your life now? Also what was it like being back in the ring with Team 3D after so many years, and do you think you will continue tagging in TNA, maybe some other matches, like getting Beer Money back together?

Oh, that that would be amazing if that happened. But as Matt goes, I don’t know if he’s going to sign a long term deal, I don’t know what he wants to do. But I think the coolest thing for me, I did a few independent shots with Matt back in June, we had two tag matches and they were just great. The guys we worked were just awesome, and we just felt like we were just as good as we were back in the day. Now bringing that back to TV, after Matt and myself, we went through our dark period, and to come out of that and the other side still rocking it, it feels really good to say that we can still go out there and be the Hardy Boyz, and for the fans to still vibe on our style.

That run ended obviously with the Victory Road thing with Sting, and you had a match with Sting on Impact too and wrestled him a few times. What was your relationship like with Sting over the years, when he was in TNA?

It was great, I was still always a bit starstruck every time I would say hello to him at TV’s, because he’s the man. He’s a huge influence for me, back in the day it was him in the NWA, and The Ultimate Warrior in the WWF, that was the combined Jeff Hardy. It really shows now, I’m 36 years old, I think that influence shows pretty clearly through who I am now. But yeah it was great, I can’t wait to see him pop up here in the future.

A guy you did a lot with in the past was CM Punk, who recently reportedly retired. There have been different things said between you guys during the years, but it’s been 5 years now, how do you look back at that now as being a key feud in your career?

It was one of the biggest, pretty close to the best. We had a good chemistry, completely different people, but at the time it was perfect. He is so good, he is so good. That’s another collection as far as feuds go, that I am going to look back at and go, wow I am glad I got to work with that guy and create some immortal artwork that is going to go down in the history books. It’s all good now, I went through my times as far as the way I felt about him, but he’s a good guy, and a good wrestler, he’s done great.

In a perfect world, who would you like to wrestle before you retire? May it be from WWE, TNA, ROH, or wherever?

I think deep down, it would have to be Jushin Thunder Liger. When I first started watching Japanese wrestling way back in the day, he just stood out to me. A lot of the inspiration for Willow back then, was from [him], as far as the mask, superhero, or villain. Oh my gosh, to know he’s still flying over here and working every now and then, makes me want to say: ‘Hey, I want to be part of that dream match.’ So more than anything, I’d say it’s Jeff Hardy vs. Jushin Thunder Liger.

  • Jim Ross Speaks On Sting In WWE, Lesnar vs. Cena, AJ Styles/WWE & More

The following are highlights of a new Busted Open Radio interview with Jim Ross:

Whether or not he regrets missing out on signing AJ Styles when he was in WWE: “I missed on him. He just started getting rolling and he was just starting on the WCW roster when the WWE bought out WCW. Our team missed on him. We could have hired him, but he did not have the skill set he has now. In hindsight, the right thing occurred. He got more experience and ended up in TNA. I would suggest that his long run in TNA is what kept him from getting hired. From talking to him, he would be a huge asset to anyones roster.”

His contract with WWE ending: “I look it at it a little differently. I’ll never be able to pay back the debt I owe to the wrestling fans since 1974. I’ve been on this amazing journey and the genre of wrestling/sports entertainment whatever you call it. The fans have invested in my work and they have invested in my BBQ sauce, followed me on Twitter, downloaded the podcast. I’m just very grateful. This hasn’t been a sad week. I had to go through a certain period of time from a legal standpoint to fulfill all of my obligations for WWE. I’m now completely out there. I’m not looking for work. There’s plenty to do. I’ve said it a bunch of times, coming to WWE in 1993 was the best career move I ever made. I don’t owe them money and they don’t owe me any. We’re done. I have no regrets. The only thing I would have liked differently was the 3 bells palsy attacks and have to constantly explain to people why I don’t smile. I’d like to be more HD friendly. I wouldn’t change a thing and a lot of things are on the horizon.”

His new interview with Sting & Sting in WWE: “We go all the way back to the mid 80s so we really started way back. I don’t go for the dirt immediately. I let it come out naturally. I can tell you, the funny thing is people don’t understand business. Just because he showed up at Comic Con doesn’t mean he has a contract with WWE. He’s got a contract with Mattel from what I understand. He has a contract with 2K. He has some sort of agreement with WWE to basically sell T-shirts, like a licensing/marketing deal. It’s not a traditional legends deal. Him being in San Diego means zero about him wrestling there. People are getting pissed at me because I’m telling the truth. Wrestling people are not supposed to always be honest, so I say to the best of my knowledge he doesn’t have a wrestler contract, so the lock on Sting being in the ring in some point in time with WWE is there is no lock. If you’re going to have Sting wrestle, book it right. If I was there I can book it in 30 minutes easy. He wrestles once. And if he wrestles once and he says “win lose or draw I’m done”. That match is at Wrestlemania because it takes everything full circle. He’s said he wants to wrestle one Wrestlemania before calling it quits. He doesn’t need to win the Royal Runble. He doesn’t need to come on Raw every Monday. That’s stupid. He could make them a lot of money. I believe that the guy has paid his dues and deserves his Wrestlemania moment.”

Why WWE hasn’t signed Sting yet and should they: “There’s no logical reason why they shouldn’t. He has no drug or alcohol issues. He is in good health. A lot of those younger kids grew up watching him. That’s how I got Shawn Michaels to come back from his hiatus. I said if you don’t want to wrestle, that’s fine. Come back and be a positive influence in the locker room with your born again Christian faith and your outlook on life and how you screwed up your life and fixed it. You would be a positive influence. That’s how Shawn Michaels came back to WWE. He came back to help the young guys, got the itch, and he was better than he ever was. Have Sting around people. Have him at PR functions. There’s a lot of big time players that were one time big wrestling fans. I find it amazing that they say to me ‘man I remember when you said this.’ and sometimes that gets them a gig or interview. Sting has been on national television for how many years without missing a beat. He’s been on TBS, he’s been on Impact, he has a name and has been on ongoing TV forever. Why wouldn’t you have that story and have that great story. I hear WWE supposedly has 30 writers. If you tell me that 30 writers can’t come up with a storyline that would appeal to Vince McMahon, I’m sorry that they’re in that condition, a company that I have been and forever loyal to and a company I feel like I contributed a little bit back in the day when we were almost out of business in the mid 90s. Sing is in great shape. He goes to the gym. He doesn’t drink or smoke. Would you bring him back long term? No. But for one big match as part of an ensemble cast.”

Whether or not Sting has to wrestle for WWE to cement his legacy: “No. I think he wants to do it as a personal goal. When I was trying to hire him after WCW closed, he was owed so much money by Time Warner he would have been foolish to have come worked for us. I feel like he should be in the WWE Hall Of Fame even if he doesn’t wrestle a match. If the WWE is what they say they are, they are the gatekeepers for the business now. You shouldn’t have a 20 year career in the WWE to qualify, and when he goes in you should maximize that chance.”

A Sting vs. The Undertaker dream match: “As it’s working out now, that dream match with the Undertaker doesn’t exist anymore. A match with Undertaker was to try and beat the streak, so that mystique is over. That whole attraction of Undertakers streak is now a DVD. It’s over. You can’t replicate that. Stings opponent could be a lot of things. It could be a hot shot heel. I’m not big on him having to win his last match. If he wins, great. If he doesn’t, well as far as I know him, he could care less. Him winning his last match isn’t the issue. Him building up his last match, him being a part of the program, the promotion, the hype and finally being able to have that entrance and performing at Wrestlemania, that’s the end game. Maybe you could have that match with Undertaker and have that be a one off where both of them retire and go out guns blazing. ‘You were the guy up here (WWE) I was the guy down there (WCW) I just want to know who was best’. No returns, no returns, no appearance on Raw the night after, that’s it. I think they can have a great presentation. On the other side, you could have a hot young heel like Seth Rollins for example. Have him take a beating from Sting and have Rollins go over in the end. There’s so many ways to go about this, but bottom line is he deserves the opportunity. Austins not going to be there to wrestle. I highly doubt The Rock will be, so what are you gonna do?”

The Undertaker’s Streak ending: “If you listen to my podcast, Shawn Michaels explains the whole story. The decision was made 4 hours before Wrestlemania started by Vince McMahon after sitting down and talking to Undertaker. I’m thinking it was to promote the network, which is the be all end all to WWE right now. They need to get subscribers.”

Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena: “I do fantasy booking on my podcast. Brock Lesnar is going to win the title at Summerslam. He’s going to be put into beast mode until April. At the Royal Rumble Roman Reigns will win the Rumble and Lesnar will pass the torch to Reigns at Wrestlemania. Reigns isn’t ready now. He needs to be protected now and the producers on the road have to work with him and coach him up. He has to be ready in April. He’s good enough now to win the Royal Rumble. I think that Lesnar is in beast mode and is not touched until April. He has to be booked like a heel but when he is working with Cena, there is going to be a tremendous amount of people cheering for Brock Lesnar. You can’t have that trend continue. He has to be a heel. You don’t want him going into Wrestlemania 31 as a face. That’s what I would do and I don’t care if wrestling fans are like ‘that’s predictable. I won’t watch!’ Yes you will.”

  • Sting Signs Another WWE-Related Deal, WWE Hopeful Sting Signs By SummerSlam

While Sting has still yet to sign an official deal with WWE, he was able to appear the San Diego Comic Con recently with WWE involvement because of the fact that he signed a deal directly with Mattel.

It’s being said that the feeling regarding Sting’s momentum is that it is higher than that of The Ultimate Warrior, who re-entered the current WWE scene via a direct deal with 2K Sports for WWE video game promotion. Basically, because of the perception that Sting can actually still wrestle a match, whereas it was made clear in the case of Ultimate Warrior that he couldn’t, that he has more momentum going for him right now than Warrior did during similar circumstances last year.

One WWE source claims that the company is hopeful to secure an official deal with Sting by SummerSlam, since he will be coming to Los Angeles, California, the site of this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view, for the event, even though at this point he is not scheduled to participate in the show itself in any fashion.
