Backstage Update On Sting’s Future With TNA

As far as Sting’s TNA future is concerned, he is advertised to face Ethan Carter III at the TNA live event in Huntsville, Alabama on January 16th, which would be after his current TNA contract expires.

It’s being said that Sting may simply be working a few additional dates with the company to allow them time to properly write him out of the storylines. At the same time, there is a decent possibility that he will sign on for another year with the company under a special agreement that has him working a limited schedule again.

The impression within TNA is that Sting will remain in the company due to the fact that they are booking their future with him in the mix.

WWE Reaction To TNA Sale Rumors, Former WWE Talent Works TNA Dark Match, Kurt Angle At Home (Video)

– In response to online reports that the Carter family is looking to sell TNA Wrestling, Janice Carter, mother of president Dixie Carter, issued a memo to employees on Nov. 1 squashing rumors of sale talks and that her family was fully committed to the organization.

However, according to insider sources, Carter is lying as multiple sources within the organization have stated that negotiations are currently being held for potential buyers. Furthermore, nearly everyone who has been speculated online, including musician and Resistance Pro Wrestling owner Billy Corgan, is not involved in the negotiations.

It is said that some WWE officials are following the story very closely, with one source quoted as saying “more so than people would ever imagine.” It is not because the sports-entertainment organization is interested in purchasing TNA, but rather because they are curious to know who desires to and what the status will be of some talents (specifically Hulk Hogan and Sting).

– In unreported news, Ohio Valley Wrestling talent Marcus Anthony, a former developmental wrestler for WWE, competed in a dark match prior to Thursday’s Impact Wrestling taping in Cincinnati, Ohio (Anthony posted a message on Twitter congratulating him). It is not known who his opponent was.

– In this “#IMPACT365” video, Kurt Angle shows how his family trains in the Angle home.

WWE Feels They Have “Decent Chance” Of Signing Sting

As noted previously, Hulk Hogan is reportedly leaning towards re-signing with TNA Impact Wrestling over WWE, due to what was described by one source as a “low-ball” offer from WWE. However, the same source is now reporting WWE may still sign one of the top stars in TNA today.

Lex Luger Comments On The Possibility of Sting In WWE

According to a new report, sources within WWE feel that their chances are “decent” at signing “The Icon” Sting (Steve Borden) to a deal with the company. Sting is perhaps the single biggest name in pro wrestling history, certainly in the United States, to have never worked for WWE. WWE has made overtures in the past to get Sting to make the move to WWE, but never got the deal done.

Larry Zbyszko Talks About What’s Wrong With TNA, Hogan, Bischoff, Vince, Russo & More

Wrestling legend Larry Zbyszko recently spoke with Steve and Scum of WGD Weekly. Here are some highlights of what the “Living Legend” said about:

The financial state of TNA: “They just made wrong decisions…from what I hear, Bob Carter…he had a hard time saying no to his daughter, Dixie… Finally, they blew so much money with no real results after ten years that Bob resigned and I think the mother took over and she is controlling the purse. From what I hear… this guy is now fired, this guy is now fired and if you wanna stay there you get a pay cut. Half the guys wrestling there are on food stamps. I was shocked when I heard that one.”

Where TNA has gone wrong creatively: “If you look at TNA today, I mean like ten years ago they had some great matches, AJ Styles vs. Chris Daniels, now ten years later, like six or seven months ago, I’m flicking through the TV and I stumble across TNA… and what’s the main event? AJ Styles vs. Chris Daniels, they’ve been wrestling each other for ten years. I couldn’t believe it… don’t these people understand?”

Hulk Hogan in TNA: “Instead of guys who can do something, they are blowing their wad on Hulk, god bless him, but he can’t walk anymore.”

Eric Bischoff in TNA: “Eric, who listened to a couple guys, pulled something off, then took credit for it, but everything he’s been involved in since sinks because he doesn’t know and won’t listen.”

Sting being “lucky”: “Sting who was one of the luckiest men who ever lived. Sting couldn’t do a good interview, he couldn’t work good. We had to drop him from the ceiling for a year and dress him like the crow and not let him say a word to get one big match out of him.”

His relationship with and thoughts on Vince McMahon since once again working on occasion with WWE: ” I haven’t bumped into Vince. I’ve been doing some things, like at ‘Mania, but I was running around doing Axxess, and signings, and filming DVD’s. When they tape the NXT shows they film that right down the street here… but, I haven’t bumped into Vince yet. I haven’t seen him since 1981. I can’t wait to see him, it will be very nostalgic. He looks great, between you and me, he’s one of the best characters he’s got. Vince is a classic, he would die for his creation and his fans, you can’t take that away from him.”

Vince Russo coming to WCW in 1999 and the dying days of WCW: “Eric and his buddies were gone, so Bill brings in this idiot Russo who was writing for the WWE… as far as I’m concerned, he’s a cancer…So, this goofy Russo comes in and by the time he came in… it went back to stupid nonsense with some idiot who has no idea what he is doing. So, they move me to Thunder. I was pissed, I knew the biggest, hottest wrestling ever was about to die. Russo just kept doing stupid stuff, the worst part is, we had a guy that was the next Bruno, Goldberg, people loved him, he was hot… but instead of Goldberg being champion, the new champion was Russo and some idiot little, skinny puke, David Arquette…the whole thing just turned to absolute manure… you had this slob, Mark Madden on Nitro, picking his nose and god knows what else. It was horrifying.”

Magnus Speaks On Dixie Carter Noticing His Talent, Looking Up To Angle/Sting/Hogan

The following are highlights from a recent interview with TNA Impact Wrestling star Magnus:

On talents he looked up to before getting into the business: “I looked up to Kurt in particular when I decided to be a pro wrestler, and Sting and Hulk Hogan are both characters that captured my imaginations as a kid, but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would be working alongside them by the time I made it to a high enough level.”

“I always dreamed of wrestling Kurt Angle, but even that was a pipe dream. So the fact that I’ve wrestled Sting and Kurt and appeared with Hulk is still surreal to me and means so much. But then to hear them publicly endorse me is one of the most gratifying feelings I have ever had. Sting was the first major name to speak up for me, and Kurt has been a supporter of mine for a long time. He’s a wonderful guy and I am so appreciative of all he has done for me and the business.”

On Dixie Carter seeing something in him early on: “Dixie saw something in me before anyone else, so in terms of how things are going for me now, I’m proud of myself and forever grateful for her for her support. I was determined not to let her down. Anytime someone takes a chance with me, I will do my absolute best to return on that faith. It was the same thing when Richard Woolfe [the former head of Sky 1] saw something in me for Gladiators that the other producers did not. And it will be the same for anyone else that sees something in me: I’ll deliver.”

Sting Talks About Using Steroids, When He’ll Retire & Religion

TNA Hall of Famer Sting recently spoke to MuscleandFitness about new DVD with Brian Bosworth, “Revelation Road.” Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Becoming “Born Again” In 1998: “In August of 1998 my life was turned upside down. I gave my life to Jesus Christ who became my Lord and Savior, right at the peak of my career where I had all the money and power and fame you could ever want. It’s just like in this movie. God kept trying to reach me, to open my eyes. And I was like, “Don’t talk to me about Jesus. My life is fine.” But in August of 1998, I had a moment of truth with a confession I made to my wife. There was drugs, alcohol, adultery, the whole package, and I wound up coming clean and confessing it all.”

His Past Use of Steroids: “Thankfully, I got smart somehow or another in 1990 and stopped taking steroids – totally stopped. A lot of the guys I ran with all those years continued to take steroids year after year – those guys are having their knees and their hips replaced. I’m not saying everybody who gets their knees and their hips replaced took steroids. I just noticed that the guys who did that were too big, too bulky, too heavy, and the body couldn’t handle it and it took its toll. So that was my one saving grace, but I would train differently now. I’m actually doing pretty good for a guy my age – I just turned 54 – and I’m still hanging in there. I can move a little bit in the ring. I can’t do half of what I used to be able to do, but I get around.”

At 54, How Long He Continues To Wrestle: “I’ve learned not to give a time. I can’t go on wrestling much longer. I’m taking it, literally, one month at a time. I’m under contract until January of next year, so we’ll see what’s happening. I do want to do more movies. I’m looking at a few different things, reality shows being one of them. I’m just trying to move onto the next season of my life. As far as wrestling goes, I’ve stayed away from the creative part of it all these years, I just don’t want to sit in on the meetings and babysit wrestlers and personalities and all that. But, there are things I’d like to see happen in pro wrestling and I may try to make it materialize. I don’t know.”

– Posting his first Twitter message since March 28 (and second of 2013), Sting posted this cryptic statement hours before his scheduled appearance on Impact Wrestling tonight: “Sunday I was left to fight alone… Message received!”

This is in reference to his loss to Bully Ray this past Sunday in a No Holds Barred Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at Slammiversary, where no TNA wrestler attempted to combat substantial interference from Aces and Eights. Sting Talks About Jumping to WWE & Facing Undertaker At WrestleMania

During a recent interview with the VOC Nation Radio Network to promote his appearance at this weekend’s “Legends of the Ring” convention in Monroe, NJ, TNA star Sting spoke about the possibility of jumping to WWE and wrestling The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30:

“It’s no secret. I’ve always wanted to wrestle Undertaker; I’ve said that for years. And who would not want to work WrestleMania?”

Sting had talks with WWE two years ago about joining the company, but a deal never materialized:

“I do an annual contract every year and the rumors start right around January. The year that they did the (black and white) vignettes (in 2011), I had nothing to do with it and I had no conversations with the WWE at that time. Shortly afterward there were conversations (with WWE) just by happenstance but nothing official.”

Even though a moe to WWE seems unlikely after all these years, he did say that it felt as if his TNA Hall of Fame induction last year was TNA’s way of “putting me out to pasture,” despite TNA president Dixie Carter saying that is “absolutely not” the case.

When asked about which TNA stars he’d like to work with, he listed Magnus, James Storm and Samoa Joe.

Brock Lesnar Update, Top Wrestlers To Never Compete In WWE & More

– Curtis Axel’s theme song “Perfection” is now available for download on iTunes.

WWE.com has compiled a list of the Top 10 wrestlers to never compete in WWE, including the Midnight Express, Abdullah the Butcher, Nikita Koloff, Magnum T.A., New Jack and of course, Sting. Here’s what the article said about Sting:

“There is no doubt that if Sting had ever decided to ply his trade for Mr. McMahon, the results would have been phenomenal. Because of his immense success throughout the industry, The Stinger would have been a great fit for the pageantry and spectacle of WWE. Of course, the one Superstar that the WWE Universe would clamor to see Sting face would be The Undertaker. Perhaps if there was one person who could have upended The Deadman’s WrestleMania Streak, it would be Sting himself. “

– With WWE Payback less than 2 weeks away, f4wonline.com reports that original plans called for Brock Lesnar to have his 3rd and final match with Triple H on the show. However, due to The Rock’s injury and CM Punk taking time off after WrestleMania, the decision was made to jump right into that match at Extreme Rules. There has been renewed talk of Lesnar feuding with CM Punk later this year.

Goldberg Says He’ll Never Join TNA Wrestling, Watch Last Year’s Hall of Fame Tribute Video On Sting

– Hyping this summer’s slate of Impact Wrestling episodes on Spike TV as “the biggest summer ever” in the history of the nine-year program, TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter touted via Twitter the soon arrival of a “big free agent signing.” On the social networking service, two-time world champion Bill Goldberg immediately squashed the possibility of joining the Nashville-based promotion.

“I’m telling you now it would never happen,” he said in response to a user asking him whether he is the individual in question.

The same Twitter user then wrote, “thank god for that I’d quit watching impact.” In response, Goldberg quipped, “Yep…..you and the other 4 people.”

A few months after Hulk Hogan’s arrival to TNA Wrestling, the legendary grappler claimed that Goldberg was in negotiations to join the organization. Goldberg, however, debunked the claim, stating to TulsaWorld.com, “Pardon my French, but Hulk Hogan’s full of crap because I was never in negotiations with TNA.”

Christopher Daniels: “This is TNA’s first time in Boston,” said Bully Ray. “This is enemy territory. I’m a New Yorker from Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. I’m a New York Yankee fan. *SPOILERS* For Thursday’s IMPACT WRESTLING On Spike TV

Sting Talks About The State Of TNA, Only 4 PPV’s Per Year & More

Here are some highlights of what Sting said to Wrestle Talk TV’s during a recent interview:

Where TNA sits currently:“We’re in a good place. The companyhas definitely matured. We started with the fair grounds in Nashville, TN when I first came on. The idea was if I came, maybe others would follow. It’s happened and it’s been phenomenal. We’re in 120 countries now and the brand has grown. It’s a brand that’s very well known, especially here in this area [the UK] and very well received.”

Jeff Hardy’s turn around:“It’s phenomenal. Who wouldn’t want to see a story unfold like that? Jeff Hardy is so loved. He’s one of our marquee players here. To somebody have it all slip through their fingers is kind of sadto watch. We’ve seen it happen over and over and over again and not that many are able to get back on and get it right. I was one of them. I was one of them, I made those choices too, the wrong choices. Just about took me out. I had a few talks with Jeff, tried to get himback upon board. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him better, ever. He’s physically, mentally, spiritually [better]. He’s in a better place than he’s ever been in.”

What he thinks will come from TNA’s reduced amount of PPV’s:“It was brand new then [PPV’s back in his day]. We didn’t have thousands of TV stations. [now] You can watch anything and everything 24 hours a day, everybody’s doing PPV’s. It’s just too much. It’s just too much TV. So let’s just do fewer every year and make them extra extra special. Make them like Wembley was last year. I think it’s great and I think it’s going to be a big boost for our company.”

What younger guys on the TNA roster he think are the future:“Matt Morgan, Austin Aries, James Storm, Bobby Roode. All these guys are just guys that are coming up. Joe [Samoa Joe], I know Joe’s going to get back ontrackagain. He had the rug snatched out from underneath him, political stuff that happens in ourbusiness. He’ll come back again. Yeah, there’s a whole host of guys. How can a guy like Matt Morgan, who’s athletic as he is, and as strong as he is, and as smart as he is, not become a big star in ourbusiness? If he doesn’t it would have to be him, it lies on him.”
