Could The Rock Be Inducted Into The WWE Hall Of Fame Next Year In Orlando?

Since returning to WWE in 2011, The Rock has appeared at each Wrestlemania over the past five years. He hasn’t wrestled a real match on the grandest stage of them all since Wrestlemania 29 in 2013, but he’s had three huge promos and interacted with many different personalities and added something to the show.

Next year, Wrestlemania 33 hails from Orlando, not far from Rock’s hometown of Miami. The latest ads for WrestleMania 33 feature both The Rockand there are reports going around he’ll be making more than just a cameo appearance at the event.

Wrestlemania 33 could present an interesting situation for The Rock in Orlando. It could be the perfect place for The People’s Champion to enter wrestling immortality and become a WWE Hall of Famer in during Wrestlemania weekend. As the highest paid movie star in the world, the sexiest man walking God’s green earth and a potential Presidential candidate, The Rock is on top of the world. A Hall of Fame induction sounds like a great way to involve The Rock in a meaningful way and honor not only his time in the business, but his willingness to give back and return to WWE when he certainly didn’t have to.

First and foremost, he may give the greatest induction speech in history. Not only that, but there are many people that could induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame. Stone Cold Steve Austin, Vince McMahon, Triple H, and others would add additional hype to the ceremony and make it must see.

5 Potential Opponents for Steve Austin

Over the past few weeks, the WWE has gone all out in promoting Stone Cold Steve Austin. The company has promoted Austin’s podcast on a weekly basis, and reports indicate that the company is ramping up production on all Stone Cold merchandise.

When coupled with recent statements from Austin claiming he still has a final run left and reports alleging that he has been training for one final match, it seems like the Texas Rattlesnake will soon make his return to the squared circle. The only problem, however, would be choosing Austin’s opponent. Here are five potential opponents for Stone Cold Steve Austin if he decides to make his return.

5. Brock Lesnar

0b13cf9fb05ed647966a8b26ccc5f901

It appears that Lesnar is being saved for WrestleMania, where he will undoubtedly be fed to Roman Reigns. However, there is always a chance for a setback in Roman’s recovery. Most believe that it will be at least another month or two before Reigns returns, so the slightest setback could derail the company’s WrestleMania plans.

This could open the door for Austin to come in and challenge Lesnar. There is a decent story in place if the company decides to discuss Austin walking out in the early 2000s because he was not on board with putting Lesnar over. In all, this could be a blockbuster main event between two of the biggest stars in WWE history.

Exclusive Interview With TNA World Champion Eric Young

Eric Young has been in TNA for nearly a decade and in that time we have seen him be a member of Team Canada, a stint a a comic book hero Super Eric, all the way through to being the top dog in the company and current TNA World Heavyweight Champion.

The 34-year-old from Florence, Ontario, Canada has won numerous titles turing his time in the company including; X Division champion, multiple time Tag Team champion, Television champion and ever Knockouts Tag Team champion with ODB, however the current title around his waste tops the lot.

We caught up with EY to talk about, getting to work with some of his heroes, his Animal Planet shows, and of course the night he was crowned TNA World Champion, plus much more.

Q. How did you first get into the sport of professional wrestling?

I’ve been a fan since I was five-years-old, I’ve watched it my whole life and it’s all I ever really wanted to do. The week after I finished high school I began training at a gym, and three months after that I had my first pro match and it ha just snowballed from there. I’ve wrestled in all 50 states, every province, wrestled all over the world and now I’m the World Heavyweight champion, it has been a pretty wild ride.

Q. When growing up who were some of the wrestlers that you enjoyed watching?

Being from Canada, Bret and Owen Hart were massive influences on me. Then there were guys like Sting, Terry Funk, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, I have a huge list of wrestlers that I enjoyed watching. I loved Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior, there was just something about it from the age of five or six and I  couldn’t get enough.

Still to this day I have lots of VHS tapes with tens of thousands of wrestling, I loved it when I five and I still love it today.

Q. You’ve had the chance to work with the likes of Sting, Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair, what was it like working with guys you grew up watching?

It’s hard to put that into words, these were guys that I idolised growing up, these were people that I wanted to be. I actually got to wrestle Sting in his first match back after 10 years away, and just being in the ring with him was a dream come true but very surreal at the same time. Sting was always good to be, Hulk as well, they always had time for me and it was great to be able to share a locker-room with guys like that and be on the same roster.

Q. The likes of Sting, Hulk Hogan, AJ Styles, and Jeff Jarrett have all left TNA in recent months, what has that been like?

There is always massive turnover in professional wrestling, people come, people go, some people go to work in other places and some people end up coming back, that is just the nature of the beast. It’s never nice to see anyone go, but I’m still really good buddies with AJ Styles and we talk whenever we get a chance – we’re actually planning on doing a bike trip together in the summer.

Q. When you first started in TNA did you ever think you’ll become World Heavyweight champion?

It’s always something that I wanted, and personally it’s always something I believed I could do. I don’t think there is anybody that doesn’t want to become World Heavyweight champion when they are in this business. The night I won the belt from Magnus on IMPACT! was a great feeling, I’m not taking anything away from him, it was an amazing match and he’s a super talented guy but I was better that day and now I’m the World champion and that sounds kind of crazy to say out loud.

Q. What can we expect from you as Champion?

I told the fans and I meant it, that I’m going to be a fighting champion, that’s the kind of champion I like and that is the kind of champion I’m going to be. Every chance I get to defend my title I will, I will defend my title against anybody, anytime, any place, any time.

Q. Who are some of the people you are looking forward to defending your title against?

The list is huge, pound-for-pound TNA has one of the pro wrestling rosters in the world. I’ve got a massive history with Bobby Roode, and he was they guy that held the belt longer than anybody, I would love to get in the ring and test myself against him.

Guys like Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, Austin Aries, James Storm, Gunner, Ken Anderson, these are all guys that I want to defend my belt against. They are all worthy, they all deserve a shot at the belt and secondly I want to test myself against the best and see what happens.

Q.  What have been some of the highlights for you during your 10 year tenure in TNA?

Obviously my favourite moment was that night on IMPACT! when I won the gauntlet match and then went on to wrestle Magnus and become the World Heavyweight Champion for the first time. I wouldn’t change anything about my journey, it’s been an amazing journey, I’ve done all these different roles – I’ve been X-Division Champion, I’ve Tag Team champion on numerous occasions, I’ve held the TV title, I’ve even won the Knockouts Tag Titles with ODB.

One of the things I’m most proud of is being on television every week for nearly 10 years, which is something not many people are able to do. I think that shows my versatility, you never know what is going to happen next in this industry, it’s a crazy business but it has been great to experience all of it, the good, the bad and the indifferent.

I’ve always prided myself when the fans say things like, Eric Young is the most entertaining guy in professional wrestling. That’s really important to me, it always has been, it always will be, that’s the name of the game when it comes right down to it, it’s a television show, and it’s about entertaining people, if that with physicality that’s great, if its with comedy that’s great.

My first two years in TNA I didn’t say a singe word, I was the guy on team Canada to carry the action and to be physical, I got hired here because I was a pro wrestler, it had nothing to do with me being funny, and it’s cool to remind people of that because I’m a pro wrestler at my core, or the other stuff is important to me but I’m a pro wrestler first and foremost.

Q. As World Champion, what more can we expect from yourself for the rest of 2014?

More of the same, I’ve always prided myself putting in 100% effort and it doesn’t matter if I’m sick or I’m hurt I will always put in the same amount of effort. As champion I feel that extra weight on my shoulders, being ‘the guy’ it’s important for me that people say Eric Young was involved in the best match on the show. For me it’s about making moments and memories, it’s about making people remember stuff. I’ve had lots of positive feedback so far and I just want to continue defending my belt and being the best I can.

Q. With yourself as TNA Champion and Daniel Bryan as WWE Champion, is it the era of the beard?

Yeah, it’s obviously the era of the beard, I’m not daft, I don’t live under a rock, I hear these things and I’m sure he hears them too. I’ve actually met Daniel in person and I always hear nothing but good things about him. Anytime anyone want to compare me to him, I have absolutely no problem with that, feel free to carry on, he’s a super talented guy and a tremendous wrestler.

Q. Away from wrestling you’ve also presented a number of hit shows on Animal Planet, what has that been like?

It’s amazing, it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do. I still have other goals in my life but TV is something that I’ve always wanted to do. I love entertaining people, the shows allow me to combine my passion of extreme sports, I’ve always been a bit of an adrenaline junkie. I’ve been all over North America and done lots of crazy things, and it’s been an amazing experience.

Q. What is it like being a guest on the Steve Austin podcast?

Steve and myself are kind of wired the same way, he loves pro wrestling and always has, I love pro wrestling. He’s also an outdoors man, he loves fishing an he watched my shows on Animal Planet and loved them and through the miracle of Twitter I got talking to him, we went back a forth and hit it off right away.

We’re still buddies and talk to this day. For me he was a guy that I idolised and is one of the top five pro wrestlers of all time. I got to go to his house in LA, we sat around his computer with the microphone and we just talked about wrestling and life.

CMT Picks Up “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s New Reality Show, Full Details

CMT issued the following press release on Wednesday:

CMT Greenlights Production on Seven New Series

Dog and Beth: On the Hunt, Guntucky Renewed for Second Seasons

Seven new unscripted series will be premiering on CMT in 2014, network executives announced Wednesday (Dec. 18). The schedule also includes the premiere of the previously-announced Party Down South on Jan. 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

The seven new series scheduled for production and premiere in 2014 include: My Big Redneck Family, Tattoo Titans, Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Ranch, Death Valley, FNA USA, Tobacco Wars and My Dysfunctional Family.

Additionally, Dog and Beth: On the Hunt, the highest-rated CMT series this past year, has been renewed for 11 one-hour episodes. Guntucky has been renewed for eight one-hour episodes. Both series are expected to run in the second quarter of 2014.

My Big Redneck Family, premiering Jan. 18 for 13 half-hour episodes, marks the return of the Clampet family. This time, they’ll be hanging out in their hometown of Shreveport, La. The comedy follows the family’s everyday routines and parenting misadventures. From Jared’s awkward introduction to the world of temporary employment, to Doug’s relentless pursuit of intimacy with Wendy, it’s clear that the vacation is over, but their real life comedy has just begun.

Tattoo Titans, television’s first ever self-contained tattoo competition series, inks up in early 2014 when four of the country’s best tattoo artists face off each week for a chance at $10,000 in cold hard cash. Three rounds, 10 hours, no compromises. Which artist can sling the best ink to take down the rest of the competition? The series will premiere in February for eight one-hour episodes.

Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Ranch, premiering in June for 10 one-hour episodes, is described as the “ultimate badass competition show” as Austin brings eight elite athletes to his Broken Skull Ranch in Texas to test their strength, stamina and endurance. In each episode, contestants go head-to-head until the last man standing earns the right to take on the toughest obstacle course in America, the “Skullbuster,” and the chance to win $10,000.

Death Valley, a new docu-series, follows five residents in the California desert who brave the elements — and the perils of a lawless environment — in order to live their lives on their own terms. It premieres in the summer/fall of 2014 with eight one-hour episodes.

FNA USA counts down the Top 20 riotous reasons America is the most badass, Olympic medal-winning, dictator-toppling, hot dog-eating superpower in the world. Based on the premise that Americans work hard and play harder than anyone else, FNA USA celebrates everything from six-packed babes to six packs of beer. It premieres in April with six one-hour episodes.

Tobacco Wars is set in the high-stakes world of Kentucky’s dark fire tobacco industry, following the families of two fifth-generation tobacco men. In dark fire country, carefully guarded farming know-how and family traditions are passed down, and freedom is as essential as the air they breathe. It’s a high-stress world, but these folks blow off steam with ease, living their country life to the fullest with endless wagering and outrageous country-boy hijinks. Five one-hour episodes premiere in the spring/summer of 2014.

My Dysfunctional Family centers on commando-turned-family-fixer Dave Vitalli, who pulls no punches as he comes to the aid of teenagers and parents in distress. Armed with lie detectors and years of experience navigating his way through warzones, Dave’s presence provides a wakeup call for the badly-behaving teens. Mom and Dad beware, however, as his no-holds-barred approach will put their behavior under as much scrutiny as their teen’s. No wonder Vitalli is dubbed the “Teen Whisperer.”

In 2013, CMT launched more original shows than ever before, including such current series as Orange County Choppers, a second season of Swamp Pawn, a fourth season of Sweet Home Alabama and the previously-announced Win, Lose or Pawn, a game show premiering this month.

  • Kurt Angle Speaks On Working With Steve Austin, People Calling Wrestling “Fake”

The following are some quotes from recent interviews with TNA star Kurt Angle:

On working with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in WWE: “Steve and I had a great chemistry. We both did each other wrong many times. Ultimately, I would say he was one of the best I have seen in my life. He was better than anybody in the ring. Not just his character, but his ability to talk on the microphone with that attitude – he was a complete wrestler.”

On people calling pro wrestling “fake”: “If one calls it fake, then it’s an insult to the commitment of a pro wrestler. It is (an insult if you call it fake). It is rather pre-determined. We both know who the winners are going to be. It is one of the barbaric form of athletics I have done. In that ring, we wrestle on woods like this (points to the table in front). Imagine getting slammed on that. So, we have to learn how to avoid being injured when getting slammed. Pro Wrestling is the toughest I have ever done. I broke my neck four times, broke my arms, legs. I had a great career there and I am proud of it.”

Steve Austin Talks In-Ring Return, Jim Ross/WWE Situation, Third Weekly Podcast

WWE Hall Of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin recently appeared on MMA journalist Ariel Helwani’s 200th edition of “The MMA Hour,” his weekly online show at MMAFighting.com, which airs every Monday at 1:00pm E.T.

“The Rattlesnake” discussed a number of newsworthy topics as it pertains to the world of pro wrestling during the interview, including the possibility of returning to the wrestling ring.

When the subject of an in-ring return came up, Austin shared his feelings on why it might be a tough move to make. Austin mentioned that it took a solid three years to get the pro wrestling bug out of his system, going as far as to say it was almost as if he was going through pro wrestling-withdrawals. He said if he were to return, it would take a solid three-to-four months of training to get his timing and conditioning back at the level it would need to be at to perform at 100-percent, noting that anything less simply isn’t his style. After that, Austin said if he were to return for a match, after it was over, “what’s next?” That, to Austin, is a big sticking point.

The former multiple-time WWE Champion also mentioned that fellow WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross would be the special guest on his next podcast, which hits the internet on Tuesday at PodcastOne.com. Austin said he spoke to JR about “resigning” from WWE, noting that “Good Ole’ JR” took the high road, calling him a “class-act.” Additionally, Austin talked about the possibility of adding a third weekly podcast to his schedule, teasing that he may add a show where he breaks down each week’s WWE RAW television show.

As far as future plans, “Stone Cold” talked about doing more reality television, including a potential new hunting show on the “Outdoor Channel,” as well as more film work.

You can check out the Steve Austin interview on The MMA Hour at MMAFighting.com. The entire show, which also featured MMA fighters Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre, Chael Sonnen, Urijah Faber, Chris Weidman, Conor McGregor, Dan Hardy and top-MMA trainer Greg Jackson, will be archived and available later today.
