The Young Bucks teamed up and connected with another Splash to Ibushi for another two count. Omega slowly made his way back to the ring apron as Matt and Nick walked towards Kota. Matt and Nick hit Kota with dueling Superkicks. They then took out Omega with a couple of Superkicks but Ibushi connected with a flipping kick that hit both Young Bucks. The crowd chanted “fight forever!” as Kota tagged Omega back in.

Kenny and Matt traded punches in the middle of the ring. Omega planted Matt with a snap Suplex, but Matt got right back up and connected with a Piledriver.

Matt took off his belt and started whipping Omega with it. Matt struck Ibushi and he fell off the apron. Matt tried to hit Kenny in the face but Omega was able to avoid it. Omega then grabbed the belt and threw it to the canvas. Omega connected with a knee to the face but Matt responded with a Spear.

Nick booted Ibushi in the face from the apron and joined Matt in the ring. Ibushi then grabbed Nick off the apron and hit the Last Ride Powerbomb through a table outside the ring. Omega lifted Matt up in the Tombstone position and Ibushi leaped off the top and they slammed Matt’s head into the canvas. Omega went for the cover but Matt somehow kicked out at two.

Kenny then hit a Powerbomb to Matt for another two count as 35 minutes have now elapsed in the match. Matt hit a Superkick and Ibushi got back into the ring. Kota fired up Omega who hit a V-Trigger to Matt’s face. Omega lifted Matt up in the Electric Chair and hesitated for a moment. Matt dared him to do it and Omega hit the One Winged Angel and went for the cover but Nick dove into the ring to break it up.

Nick got back into the ring and started battling with Omega and Ibushi. Omega kneed him in the face and Ibushi dropped him with a German Suplex. Omega took his knee pad down and delivered the Golden Trigger to Matt Jackson for the pinfall victory in an excellent match.

After the match, Cody got into the ring and started shouting at the Young Bucks. Omega ran back into the ring and Cody retreated. Omega shook hands with the Nick Jackson and hugged him as the crowd cheered. Matt rejected Omega’s offer and rolled out of the ring.

Kenny grabbed a microphone and said “sometimes it is a sad world that we live in where friends have to go to war with each other. Sometimes in war there are casualties, but there is a silver lining and that is that the Golden Lovers are back. And we are here to stay and before you know it, New Japan Pro Wrestling is coming back to backyard near to each and every one of you”.

Omega added that he loves to party with you guys and brought up the issues within the Bullet Club. Kenny said that Cody is only good at talking, but when it comes down to it, he is going to beat the “ever-living poop” out of Cody. The crowd started chanting “poop” for a moment. Kenny stated goodbye and goodnight to the crowd as NJPW Strong Style Evolved went off the air.

Strong Style Evolved Pre-Show Event Announced, Fighting Game Tournament Teams With NJPW

NJPW Strong Style Evolved Pre-Show Announced

Details have emerged for New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Strong Style Evolved pre-show event. Strong Style Evolved takes place from the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California on March 25. A day before the big show, an official pre-show event will be held inside the NJPW Dojo. Tickets will go on sale tomorrow (March 9) at 1 p.m. ET. Admission is $30.

The pre-show festivities will include autograph sessions with Hiroshi Tanahashi, Katsuyori Shibata, Juice Robinson, Jyushin Thunder Liger, Ryusuke Taguchi and KUSHIDA. Fans will also get to see the contract signing for the IWGP United States Heavyweight title match. Three matches will also take place and they will be announced soon.

Fighting Game Tournament Partners With NJPW

The fighting game community has always shown love for pro wrestling. Many die hard members of the FGC are big fans of NJPW. It certainly shows with this latest bit of news. Alex Jebailey, the head honcho of CEO, revealed that NJPW will be invading the tournament on June 29.

This isn’t the first time NJPW has made its presence felt in the fighting game scene. Tekken is an official sponsor of NJPW. Kazuchika Okada and Tanahashi’s ring gear can be used in Tekken 7. Okada’s Rain Maker finisher is even in the game.

Major Name Appears in Video Package at NJPW Event

It appears New Japan Pro Wrestling is bringing the heavy hitters for their return to North America.

NJPW is holding an event today (Feb. 10) dubbed “The New Beginning in Osaka.” The event features an IWGP Heavyweight title bout between champion Kazuchika Okada and SANADA. NEVER Openweight champion Hiroki Goto puts his gold on the line against EVIL. Also, IWGP Junior Heavyweight title holder Will Ospreay defends his crown against Hiromu Takahashi.

While the night is producing some solid action, it also had a surprise. During the event a video package played and former WWE champion Rey Mysterio appeared. He challenged fellow wrestling legend Jushin Thunder Liger to a match at Strong Style Evolved. Liger was seen at the Japanese commentary table and he seemed to be intrigued by the challenge.

Strong Style Evolved takes place on March 25 inside the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California. Around 4,500 tickets were sold out in just 20 minutes. While no matches have been officially added to the card as of this writing, it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing Mysterio take on Liger.

Mysterio last appeared in the public eye at the WWE’s men’s Royal Rumble match. He was a surprise entrant, taking the 27th spot.

Big Changes Made Backstage At 205 Live, AXS To Broadcast NJPW’s Strong Style Event Next Month

– WWE has decided to make some major changes backstage at 205 Live. PWInsider reports that the decision was made two weeks ago by Vince McMahon to let Triple H take the helm of the program. Triple H is currently the frontman at NXT and will now take on 205 Live as well.

While McMahon likes to focus on the characters on the program, Triple H has taken a different route – focusing on the in-ring product more instead. McMahon reportedly made the decision as an attempt to reboot and fix the show. People within the company have compared the past two weeks of 205 Live to NXT.

– NJPW has announced that AXS TV will broadcast their Strong Style Evolved event live on Sun. March 25, 2018. It’s NJPW’s second-ever standalone North American event.

NJPW made the following announcement on the matter:

NEW JAPAN PRO WRESTLING’S BIGGEST STARS RETURN TO AMERICA ON AXS TV’S EXCLUSIVE LIVE BROADCAST OF ‘STRONG STYLE EVOLVED’ ON SUNDAY, MARCH 25 AT 8pE/5pP

The Sold-Out Show Will Feature Kazuchika Okada, Kenny Omega, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tetsuya Naito & More from Long Beach, California

‘STRONG STYLE EVOLVED’ Marks NJPW’s Second U.S. Event as Japan’s Biggest Wrestling Organization Continues to Expand Stateside

Leading up to the Live Broadcast, the Network will Premiere Matches from NJPW’s New Year Dash, New Beginning in Sapporo and More

Los Angeles (Feb. 7, 2018) – AXS TV—the exclusive U.S. television home for New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW)—will partner with NJPW and TV ASAHI to broadcast NJPW’s second U.S. event STRONG STYLE EVOLVED live on Sunday, March 25 at 8pE/5pP from California State University Long Beach’s (CSULB) Walter Pyramid.

The cable network’s acclaimed commentary team, Wrestling Hall of Famer Jim Ross and former UFC Heavyweight Champion and NJPW veteran Josh Barnett, will call the live action ringside at STRONG STYLE EVOLVED. The broadcast is expected to feature NJPW’s biggest stars including Kazuchika Okada, Kenny Omega, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Tetsuya Naito among others in matches to be announced.

“New Japan Pro Wrestling’s popularity and ratings in the U.S. are at an all-time high,” said AXS TV FIGHTS CEO Andrew Simon. “The G1 Special last summer sold out in a few hours, while STRONG STYLE EVOLVED, in an arena twice the size, sold out in less than 10 minutes. This second U.S. event is a great opportunity to further our relationship with NJPW and TV Asahi and we are looking forward to growing their strong style brand of wrestling in the states.”

AXS TV previously televised NJPW’s first stateside event—G1 Special in USA—live in July 2017 and also took over production of the Friday night series from distribution partner TV Asahi to air the Japanese events closer to the original air date. Continuing this trend, AXS TV aired a special presentation of NJPW’s biggest annual event—Wrestle Kingdom 12—on Jan. 6, 2018 just two days after it took place in Japan, which became the most watched broadcast in series history.

AXS TV wraps up its final night of Wrestle Kingdom 12 coverage on Feb. 9 at 8pE/5pP. Then, the network will showcase the best matches from NJPW’s winter events including “New Year Dash” (Feb. 16), three hours from “The New Beginning in Sapporo” (Feb. 23-March 9) and more to be announced leading up to STRONG STYLE EVOLVED.

  • March 9 – The New Beginning in Sapporo – Kenny Omega vs. Jay White

New Japan Announces Stacked Lineup for 2018

New Japan Pro Wrestling’s January 4th show was arguably one of the most commercially successful in company history. More fans than ever where watching on NJPWWorld.com and the Tokyo Dome exceeded last year’s attendance by over 8,000.

NJPW announced several of their upcoming 2018 events during the Wrestle Kingdom stream and now their English Language site NJPW1972.com has unveiled the full details surrounding their 2018 programme:

The big event for our American fans will be Strong Style Evolved, coming from the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach March 25th. The event was announced back in November, and we’re getting ready to reveal some big news about the show, so stay tuned to njpw1972.com.

It’ll be a busy April, as Sakura Genesis starts the month in Ryogoku on April 1. Then, on April 29, New Japan returns after a two year absence to Kumamoto for Hi no Kuni 2018.

On May 3 and 4, we’ll be in Fukuoka for two nights at the Fukuoka International Center and Wrestling Dontaku. Then, May 18 sees Best of the Super Juniors kick off, before the critical mid way point of the year; June 9 and Dominion in Osaka Jo Hall.

Then, it’s the biggest tournament in wrestling. In a first, G1 Climax 28 will kick off with two days on July 14 and 15 in the historic Ota Gymnasium, before heading to Hokkaido July 16, and then all over Japan.

Yet it’s where that tournament will end that’s most exciting. For the first time in G1 history, and with the first New Japan presence for over 15 years, the G1 will reach its Climax in the iconic Budokan Hall!”
