MVP’s time could be finally finished with WWE and so could another that has been with the company for a long time.
According to PWNexus on social media, both MVP and Tamina Snuka join Bobby Lashley in being off of WWE’s internal roster. MVP hasn’t been seen on WWE television in over 100 days as he last accompanied Omos to the ring for the Andre The Giant battle royal on the SmackDown before WrestleMania 40. As for Tamina, she’s been off WWE television for well over a year as she last battled Michin on an episode of WWE Main Event.
MVP may have reacted to the report, as he simply posted a “salute” emoji, possibly implying that he could be bidding farewell to WWE and later had a video noting that he was working out with his son and was in good spirits.
Since returning to WWE, MVP has mostly been in the manageriatl role, but would also wrestle from time to time. Along with Lashley, MVP was an intrical part of the notorious Hurt Business faction and his presence certainly helped to elevate ‘The All Mighty’ for a memorable WWE Championship run.
Tamina has been all over the WWE grid, but her most recent memorable run is arguably her tag partnership with Natalya. Nattie was greatly speculated to be leaving WWE in recent months, but she ultimately inked a new deal with WWE.
WWE fans hope that one day The Rock will return to the company. Now we know that his own family would like to see him make his comeback.
The Rock is one of the busiest celebrities in Hollywood. When he is not acting in a blockbuster film, he works on projects like running the XFL. However, it hasn’t stopped wrestling fans from wishing he’d work in WWE again.
For several months, people questioned if The Rock would be involved in WrestleMania 39 in April. WWE would’ve liked him to appear at WrestleMania if he could. Triple H has shared that the door is always open for him to return, but he couldn’t commit this year due to his availability. While fans want to see him compete again, his family also hopes to see The Rock back in wrestling.
In an interview with Insider, Tamina revealed that she and his entire family are looking forward to one day seeing him entertain wrestling again. Insider’s Alan Dawson transcribed the following quote.
“All of us, including his mama, want him to come back,” Tamina said. “I feel like everybody wants him to return,” said Tamina. She also added that The Rock could make his comeback and still be in his element as a performer.
Chances of The Rock Making A Return
(WWE)
Although The Rock isn’t able to participate in this year’s WrestleMania, Triple H has shared that there are no hard feelings. WWE has a relationship with him that they ask, but they aren’t pressuring the Hollywood star to say yes or no. It also seems WWE feels confident in its plan for WrestleMania 39 and is already looking forward to a successful event.
The WWE can contact him for next year’s 40th anniversary of WrestleMania, which will take place at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. According to IMDB, The Rock has two films in production, but their progress is unclear. While it’s not a high chance, his schedule could make his decision easier to make his long-awaited return to WWE.
Grammy-award-winning rapper Cardi B has long been a fan of the WWE. She recently made a reference to a WWE legend and their finishing move in her new song with Lil Durk and Kanye West.
Cardi B & The WWE
On January 4, 2021, Cardi B received an unexpected shoutout on Monday Night Raw by WWE Hall of Famer Torrie Wilson. The name drop came during a backstage segment between Wilson and Angel Garza.
Garza presented a rose to Wilson who politely rejected it. The WWE Hall of Famer said that she had “invited Cardi B, Kylie Jenner, and Ariana Grande to come here to watch RAW tonight.”
Wilson then added that all three were chilling just down the hall and told Garza that the “WAP” rapper would LOVE the rose. “She’s looking SOOO fine tonight,” Wilson lied, encouraging Garza to go and find Cardi in what turned out to be a dark room where he encountered the Boogeyman instead.
Cardi, who has tagged the promotion in the past, was both super excited and a bit angry, that her WWE ‘debut’ came in such a backhanded way.
WWWWTTTTFFFFFFFFF ….?????This is not how my wwe debut was supposed to be ! Vince McMahon COUNT YOUR FUCKIN DAYS !!!! https://t.co/P4LQvOWnsx
Ok nomore wwE tweets I haven’t watched it in years.I was just confused on all the wwe tweets I was getting. Before this last thing I Hurd bout it was about a sexy wrestler name Carmella.
Cardi’s tweets received a response from WWE Superstar Lacey Evans which lead to the two having a spicy exchange of tweets, some of which have been deleted.
Aww bless your heart! @iamcardib U got it all wrong. I heard DEBUT and was giving you a friendly heads up!? but since you wanna be a bad ass… keep me in mind when/if you show up to @WWE. Ill kick your ass while listening to your music. ?? #PullUphttps://t.co/Yirw1ELOAL
The theme song for last year’s SummerSlam event was none other than Cardi B’s song “Up.” WWE dubbed the song “the song of the summer.”
Cardi B Shouts Out Jimmy Snuka
In the next layer of Cardi’s relationship with WWE, she recently gave a shoutout to Jimmy Snuka and his finishing maneuver in her recent song ‘Hot Sh*t.’ This song features some of the music industry’s hottest rappers with Lil Durk and Kanye West also hopping on the track.
In the first four lines of the song, Cardi makes the reference and starts the song off with a bang:
“Now this that hot sh*t
Jimmy Snuka off the top rope, superfly sh*t (Fly)
Might get in the tub with all my ice on some ‘Pac sh*t (Hot)
Either way you slice it, bottom line, I’m the top b*tch”
WWE Superstars Respond To ‘Hot Sh*t’
Fans and wrestlers alike took to Twitter to react to the line. Cardi even responded to a tweet from a fan which prompted wrestlers to respond.
YES I LOVE WRESTLING….I kinda wonder if this new generation was going to know who I’m talking about https://t.co/fynSMHUylG
The match featuring Nikki ASH vs Tamina Snuka on RAW this week ended on a strange note. Nikki hit Tamina with a tornado DDT and then went for the pin. Tamina appeared to get her shoulder up before the 3-count but the ref counted 3 regardless. Things then got even stranger as Tamina’s music played and the ring announcer declared her the winner. The referee, however, awarded the match to Nikki.
According to a report from Dave Melter on Wrestling Observer Radio, Tamina was supposed to win the match but the referee didn’t see her shoulder come up on the pin attempt. WWE referees are instructed to call things as if they are real, so they declared Nikki the winner.
“The Tamina match, Tamina was supposed to win that match,” Meltzer said.
“What happened was, the ref botched the call. Tamina kicked out, the ref did not see her kick out and called it as a shoot,” he continued.
Tamina’s music played as she was the expected winner. The ring announcer declared her the winner as that was the expected result.
“The ref backstage just said ‘I didn’t see it’, was apologetic and everything like that but it was the ref’s fault, he blew the call.”
It was also noted that all the performers involved began improvising after the bell. Nikki didn’t hesitate to celebrate the victory despite it not being the planned finish.
“There was nothing there as far as what was going on after the pin that was scripted, in that sense, they were all going with the flow. Everyone involved did a good job,” Meltzer continued.
It was a big moment for both their careers when Natalya and Tamina won the women’s tag team championship and the duo received a fitting ovation backstage after their big win.
The tag champions recently appeared on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions podcast where they opened up about their win during the May 14 episode of SmackDown.
During the talk, Natalya explained how the locker room reacted to their victory. She revealed that Bayley got all the females into gorilla and the ovation they received even surprised Vince McMahon:
“I had no idea that Bayley rallied the troops and got all the girls into Gorilla during our match the night we won the titles. Every girl in the locker room, no matter what role, was there and they were jumping up and down.
TJ said the girls created a fan-like environment in Gorilla when we won the titles where even Vince was like, ‘Holy shit.’ The girls are ride or die.”
This was only the second title win for Tamina in her 11-year long career with the company, after briefly holding the 24/7 title in 2019.
Discussing her long run without having held any women’s title, the second generation star admitted that she had started wondering if she will ever win one:
“Knowing that it was coming up on 11 years and we had the pandemic last year and jobs were on the line, that’s why I kept saying, ‘If I never get a title, I had a great career and have been blessed.’ I still had the drive of, ‘I still want a championship,'”
Apart from this Natalya also revealed the original plans for her before she was paired with Tamina earlier this year. You can check out her comments on the matter at this link
Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler have been dethroned as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions by Natalya & Tamina.
It happened on Friday’s SmackDown’s go-home show for WrestleMania Backlash. The finish saw Jax give Natalya a Samoan drop only for Tamina to hit a splash from the top rope on Jax and pinned her to get the win.
This is the first title Tamina has held in WWE aside from the 24/7 Championship. Post-match, the new champs were interviewed in the ring where Natalya stated this night was anyone who’s ever had a dream and felt like their dream passed them by as it’s never too late to keep fighting for your dreams. Tamina thanked their families and also thanked the fans to end the promo.
Earlier in the day, Bret Hart sent out a tweet about the match by noting, “I want to wish my niece @natbynature and her tag team partner @TaminaSnuka the best of luck tonight in their championship match on #SmackDown. They won’t need luck though, because talent can’t be stopped.”
Jax & Baszler had been the champs since winning the titles from Asuka & Charlotte Flair this past January on the Royal Rumble pre-show.
As we previously reported, the WWE announced its first ever female Money In The Bank Ladder match on last night’s (Tues. May 30, 2017) episode of SmackDown Live. Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Natalya and Tamina will be competing in the contest, and the winner will receive a guaranteed shot at the SmackDown Live Women’s Title whenever they’d like.
The WWE released the following statement regarding the historic bout:
FIRST-EVER WOMEN’S MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH TO BE STREAMED LIVE SUNDAY, JUNE 18 ON WWE NETWORK
WWE (NYSE: WWE) announced today that the first-ever women’s Money In The Bank Ladder match will take place on Sunday, June 18 at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo, and streamed live around the world on WWE Network at 8 p.m. ET.
The match will feature WWE Superstars Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Natalya and Tamina competing for the opportunity to receive a contract to challenge for the WWE SmackDown® Women’s Championship anytime within the next year. The match was made official tonight by SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon.
Tamina underwent surgery on Monday in Miami, Florida to repair torn ligaments from an injury she suffered last week. This is according to her manager, Dany Garcia.
Tamina last wrestled on Apr. 23, in a multi-women tag team match. The event took place in Malaga, Spain and was the final show of WWE’s tour of Europe.
– Sasha Banks and her Team BAD buddies Naomi and Tamina are featured in this week’s RAW Fallout video, which you can check out above. Banks tells Eden she did not tap out and insists Naomi and Tamina did not cheat to help her out. The segment ends with Eden running away from Tamina.
– Speaking of the Banks-Lynch match, WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley took to Twitter after the match on RAW to express his disappointment in WWE for not giving them enough time to steal the show. Foley noted that he traveled 12 hours to NXT TakeOver six months ago to watch Banks and Lynch and it was “worth every mile.” Foley tweeted the following:
– WWE.com is running a poll asking fans to vote on who they feel is the true leader of Team B.A.D. With over 3,000 votes cast, Sasha Banks is leading the poll with 74 percent of the vote, while Naomi has 18 percent and Tamina has 8 percent.
– Samoa Joe was at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Thursday for the WrestleMania 32 ticket party. Joe tweeted a photo of the WrestleMania 32 logo on the massive screen inside the stadium with the caption, “the road begins here” #WrestleMania. Joe’s longtime rival and friend CM Punk responded, reminding Joe that WWE loves when you point at the WrestleMania sign.
@SamoaJoe make sure to point at the sign. They really like that.
As seen on Monday’s edition of RAW, WWE has given the trio of Paige, Charlotte and Becky Lynch a team name, similar to Sasha Banks, Naomi and Tamina being called “Team B.A.D.” and the team of Nikki Bella, Brie Bella and Alicia Fox being referred to as “Team Bella.”
Unfortunately, the team name for the babyface trio, “The Submission Sorority,” is also the name of an adult website, a fact that WWE quickly found out about after mentioning the name on national television.
A traffic analyst for the BangBros website told TMZ.com that their web traffic shot up 56% overnight, and they saw a 35% rise in subscriptions. The adult movie company plans on sending Vince McMahon a ‘thank you’ gift basket for the spike in business.
As a result of the slip up, WWE is already talking about changing the group name to “The Submission Sisters.” There was actually some discussions about giving the group the name “Horsewomen,” however the belief was that it could be seen as stepping on UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey’s toes.
– As shown in the video above, WWE are holding a SummerSlam raffle with the grand prize including tickets to all three WWE events.
That’s not all as the winner will get a pizza tour with WWE legends, breakfast with WWE Superstars and much much more. More information can be found at this link.
– After the male competitors on Tough Enough came face-to-face with the Big Show, the female competitors will come face-to-face with Team Bad (Sasha Banks, Naomi and Tamina).
It should also be noted that Cesaro will be appearing on the show as well. It’s not yet confirmed who will be taking Hulk Hogan’s place at the judge’s table.
– The new Diva trio of Naomi, Tamina and NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks are going by the team name of “Team B.A.D. (Best at Dominating).”
– With Kane suffering a storyline leg injury during RAW last night and J&J Security being out of action indefinitely, the idea is that Seth Rollins has no back-up going into his WWE World Heavyweight Championship match against Brock Lesnar at this Sunday’s WWE Battleground pay-per-view.
– WWE posted the following video of the Tough Enough cast meeting The Bella Twins backstage at Monday’s RAW.
On Monday’s WWE Battleground “go-home” edition of RAW, Stephanie McMahon announced a revolution of women’s wrestling in WWE.
Stephanie brought up the success of women in sports these days and went on to bring Becky Lynch, Charlotte and Sasha Banks to the main roster.
The storyline appears to be three groups of six, as Team Bella consists of The Bella Twins and Alicia Fox, while Becky Lynch, Charlotte and Paige were grouped together, and the trio of Naomi, Tamina and Sasha Banks were paired together.
WWE taped the following matches for this week’s edition of WWE Main Event prior to taping WWE SmackDown on Tuesday night in Buffalo, New York.
Dark Match
– Zack Ryder def. Brad Maddox in what was apparently a quick, basic opening contest.
WWE Main Event
– The Prime Time Players def. The Ascension in tag-team action to kick off the Main Event taping. Prior to the match, the PTP taught the crowd how to do their “Millions of Dollars” dance, while The Ascension cut a promo welcoming us to “Wasteland.” In the end, Young hit the gut buster on Viktor to score the 1-2-3.
– King Barrett def. Heath Slater in singles competition. Barrett won in what was said to be a good little match. Afterwards, R-Truth came out as “King What’s Up?” He pardoned “Lil’ Jimmy” and declared Barrett “King Jackass.”
– Naomi def. Summer Rae via submission in Divas action. Tamina was in Naomi’s corner during this one.
– Ryback def. Adam Rose in a pretty quick match with Rose surprisingly enough getting in a good bit of offense. Ryback ended up winning with the Shellshock. After the match, Ryback scared Miz to the back and then celebrated with the crowd.
– Luke Harper & Erick Rowan def. The Lucha Dragons with their new 3-D finisher. This was said to be a very face-paced and entertaining tag-team contest.
WWE Diva Tamina Snuka, who has been off of television for a while now, returned on Monday’s RAW with a new gimmick.
We reported earlier today that Snuka had been working as a bodyguard for Naomi at recent non-televised live events, and that there’s a good possibility that it would be brought to television, and that’s exactly what happened.
As The Bella Twins were making their way to the ring on RAW on Monday night in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, they were attacked from behind by Naomi and Tamina Snuka.
After the beatdown, Naomi says to The Bella Twins, “You’re sibling reign of dominance over the Divas division is over. This is what family is all about.”
The announcers would go on to explain to the viewinng audience that Snuka is the cousin of Jimmy Uso, Naomi’s husband, by marriage, which would explain the family reference in her one-line promo.
– Brad Maddox and Tamina Snuka are currently backstage at the site of tonight’s RAW, according to PWInsider.com. Maddox has been off TV since being ‘fired’ by The Authority and recently returned to the ring at a WWE live event. Tamina has been cleared to return to action after missing several months.
– WWE star Alex Riley tweeted the following in response to AJ Lee retiring from WWE:
Of course, this is a reference to the “6/16/13” that AJ had tattooed on the back of her neck to commemorate the day she captured the WWE Divas Championship for the first time. Riley is getting a lot of negative responses to his tweet.
On Tuesday’s episode of WWE Main Event on the WWE Network, Tamina won a Battle Royal to earn a title shot against Divas champion Paige at the upcoming Extreme Rules special event. With that match set, here’s the updated card for WWE Extreme Rules 2014:
Steel Cage Match:
John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt
Divas Championship:
Paige (c) vs. Tamina
Intercontinental Championship: Big E (c) vs. Tournament Winner
Daniel Bryan, winning three Slammy Awards competing in a match, appearing in the Championship Ascension Ceremony, was without question the star of the show. His hometown crowd chanting YES! YES! YES! and DANIEL BRYAN! throughout the beginning of the Championship Ascension Ceremony. Going back earlier in the night to his first Slammy win for Superstar Of The Year. On stage The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels. He announces the Superstar of the year is Daniel Bryan. We were all expecting fireworks to occur during that interaction. HBK even exited stage right a perfect set-up for a “surprise” superkick from out of nowhere! But there was no Sweet Chin Music. Just a humble acceptance speech by Bryan for his Slammy Award which he refereed to as The “HB Swizzle” award, Michaels naming it that just before presenting the award. Bryan did mention if it wasn’t for Shawn he wouldn’t be in the WWE. Likewise if it wasn’t for his interference at Hell-In-A-Cell he would be the WWE Champion. Although there was no physical interaction here, that wouldn’t be the last time these two interacted on the show.
See this is why I can’t shake off fighting the Daniel Bryan cause, he belongs in the main event. Heck this article uses his YES! and NO! and lord help us all if Daniel Bryan ever appears in a “NO!” portion of this article. Some people might say, he was in his hometown and had an extra kick of support. There may be a bit of truth to that, but I feel that there are just some hot wrestling towns. Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, and apparently Seattle. After what transpired later in the show who knows what will happen the next few months. I’m excited! YES!
Championship Ascension Ceremony
John Cena showing why he is in fact the face of WWE.
Former World Heavyweight and WWE Champions appeared all in the ring for the Championship Ascension Ceremony. As I said earlier the crowd was going crazy for Daniel Bryan. While Triple H was talking up the match, and the championship, the Seattle crowd chanted YES and Daniel Bryan to the point where Triple H gave them what seemed like at least a minute of chanting and Yessing and clapping. This crowd was on fire for Daniel Bryan. Triple H introduced both Orton and Cena. The crowd did not want to hear what Orton had to say. There were boos and boring chants. Then Cena took the mic. More boos and cheering mix. Then Cena begins to speak and prove why he is the face of the WWE. These days with everything being very planned and scripted, Cena played to the crowd and included Daniel Bryan in the conversation, he compared Randy Orton’s rise to success to Daniel Bryan’s. The idea was Bryan didn’t have a father and grandfather to get him in to the WWE, he did it by working. Cena turned practically the entire crowd around and behind him., shouting out his past opponents, HBK, CM Punk, and putting over that the only fair shot Daniel Bryan had was the one with him. Brilliant, this is why he is where he is. The end was something I haven’t seen in the WWE in a long time. It was an awesome chain of events excuited perfectly. Cena and Orton shake hands as the World Heavyweight Championship and WWE Championship are hoisted up. Orton gets in a cheap shot, the two are down on the mat fighting. Orton and Cena get pulled apart to their corners. CM Punk gets shoved by Orton causing CM Punk to start attacking Orton. Triple H throws down CM Punk, who retaliates with a knockdown of his on on The Game. HBK Superkicks CM Punk, setting up Daniel Bryan to
The Authority and John Cena look over A fallen Randy Orton. A great segment to end raw.
WWE Reminding us what they are capable of, a Powerful and compelling end to Raw.
deliver his running Knee on HBK. Orton tries to RKO Bryan but instead gets shoved into Stephanie McMahon knocking her down. Triple H runs to Stephanie’s aid, and then gets up and pedigrees Randy. The show closes with The Authority and John Cena looking disappointed over Randy Orton on the mat. What a great segment. This is what WWE used to do on a regular basis. Twists and turns, these chain-reaction action segments. YES!
Quick Mentions
Dean Ambrose vs CM Punk – Ambrose vs CM punk was a Pay-Per-View quality match with a great dissension in the ranks tease when Dean Ambrose wanted Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins to head to the back so he could finish the job by himself. Punk gets the win shortly after that exchange, although Punk loses out to the numbers game and gets a great spear from Reigns. YES!
The Wyatts – With a chip on my shoulder because of Daniel Bryan’s demotion, I don’t think I appreciated Bray Wyatt’s amazing performances over the last few weeks. They are great, and compelling. YES!
Hit up Page 2 below for the “NO!” of this week’s WWE RAW:
– Speaking to Larry Nickel of CBS Sports 920 in St. Louis, Missouri, former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan admits that when he first joined WWE, he could not tell Brie Bella, who he’s now engaged to be married to, from her sister Nikki.
“Now, they are so different to me, I don’t even see how people think that they look alike. It’s crazy. They definitely look like sisters, but they’re no longer twins to me,” said Bryan.
Nickel tells Bryan that he can tell them apart for “different reasons,” leading the WWE Superstar to ask him to name them.
“Nikki had the…uh…yeah,” Nickel remarked, alluding to her sizable breast augmentation last year.
– WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee didn’t miss a beat after fainting during her match on Friday in London, England as she competed at tonight’s show in Minehead. Partnering with Tamina, the duo again lost to The Bella Twins.
Today’s show in Minehead marks as the eleventh day of WWE’s grueling tour across Europe, which has been described as exhausting by some wrestlers.
According to one source, WWE is apparently puzzled as to why Brie Bella is not more over as a babyface right now. The general consensus is that she came off on the “Total Divas” reality show as a super-babyface, unlike her twin-sister Nikki Bella, who at times came off as a heel.
Considering the fact that she came off as such a babyface on the show, WWE reportedly failed to understand why she didn’t receive more sympathy from the fans during the beat down she suffered at the hands of Tamina Snuka and AJ Lee on this past Monday’s edition of WWE RAW.
Obviously, Total Divas represents a small percentage of the fan base that watches RAW, and the demographics are very different, however some in the company fail to make that connection.
Speaking of Bella, as noted previously, current plans call for her to challenge AJ Lee for the WWE Divas Championship at the upcoming WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view.
-According to one source, the recent pairing of AJ Lee and Tamina Snuka was inspired by the Shawn Michaels and Diesel combination from the 1990s.
