Teddy Hart Has Bench Warrant Rescinded After Giving Reason for Failing to Appear in Court

Teddy Hart’s trouble with the law are far from over, but the controversial wrestler does have one less issue to deal with after having a warrant rescinded.

Hart was arrested in July 2023 on charges of possession of MDMA (Ecstacy) and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Both of these are third-degree felonies in Florida. In December 2023, Hart appeared in a court that often works towards plea deals and attempts to prevent a case from going to a felony trial.

Teddy Hart Warrant Rescinded

A bench warrant for Hart in the state of Florida has been officially rescinded, PW Insider has reported. The warrant was issued in February after he failed to appear in court in regards to his July 2023 arrest. The court date Hart missed was a mandatory appearance for “Early Resolution.”

On March 13, attorneys representing Hart filed the motion to withdraw the warrant. They claimed that Hart was in hospital at the time of the February hearing and was unable to contact his counsel. The motion was unopposed by the prosecution and was subsequently dropped.

Hart is now scheduled to appear in court on the morning of April 4. We will continue to follow his case closely as further updates are expected to come next month.

Teddy Hart’s Controversial Past

Hart has had several issues with the law, some of which were documented in the Peacock reality series Dangerous Breed. The series looked at Hart’s toxic relationship with women, one of which being Hart’s ex Samantha Fiddler.

Fiddler traveled overseas with Hart before he ditched her, reportedly taking her passport with him. To date, she has never been found or heard from and has been missing since 2016.

Teddy Hart Has Arrest Warrant Issued After Failing To Appear For Court

Teddy Hart once had the world ahead of him, and he was representing a famous pro wrestling family in the process. Sadly, his recent years have been filled with legal issues, and now he has an arrest warrant for out on his name.

Arrest Warrant for Teddy Hart

PW Insider reports that a bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of Teddy Hart after he failed to appear in court on February 8. This adds to his string of problems with the law in recent years.

Hart was arrested in July 2023 on charges of possession of MDMA and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, both of which are third-degree felonies in Florida.

The court date was scheduled as a mandatory appearance for “Early Resolution,” but the hearing was postponed multiple times. Additionally, the court has revoked Hart’s $2,000 bond.

More Information On Teddy Hart’s Arrest

The arrest occurred on July 14, 2023, when Officer Eduardo Gonzales observed Hart’s vehicle speeding and running a red light. Upon pulling him over, Gonzales detected the smell of burnt marijuana and found loose leaf marijuana in the vehicle. Further searches uncovered MDMA pills and powder, as well as anabolic steroids, leading to Hart’s arrest on the mentioned charges.

Following his arrest, Hart wrestled his first match in three years in Florida on the same evening. However, he has not competed since then.

Teddy Hart’s Controversial History

Hart’s troubled history was depicted in the Peacock reality series Dangerous Breed, which drew attention to his tumultuous personal life.

The show demonstrated his problematic behavior towards former partners, including allegations of abandonment, abuse, extortion, drug use, and passport confiscation. That troubling track record led to a few arrests over the years, and he’s been blackballed by many pro wrestling companies since then.

Judge Makes It Clear To Teddy Hart That He’s Out Of Continuances

Teddy Hart is no stranger to the legal system at this point, and he keeps his attorneys very busy. Now, he will have to wait even longer to see his day in court, but the judge made it clear that they won’t let him push things back again.

Teddy Hart’s Latest Legal Situation

Teddy Hart appeared in court on January 11th, stemming from his arrest on July 15th, 2023, facing charges of possession of MDMA (ecstasy) and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription—both classified as third-degree felonies in Florida.

Alongside these charges, he was cited for failing to stop at a steady red light, the incident that led to his initial arrest. This encounter with the law adds to Teddy Hart’s history of previous run-ins with the police.

Teddy Hart Granted One More Continuance

The court appearance in Titusville, Florida, last Thursday was designated as a mandatory session for “Early Resolution.” However, according to PW Insider, Teddy Hart’s defense sought and was granted a continuance during the hearing.

The rescheduled hearing is now set for February 8th, with a clear message from the court that it will be the final opportunity for the defense to request any further delays.

Edward “Teddy Hart” Annis’ defense requested and received a continuance at his hearing on 1/11. The court agreed and moved the hearing to 2/8, noting it would be the final time the defense is allowed to do so.

The judge emphasized that no additional continuances would be granted. Teddy Hart, initially expected to follow the path of the legendary Hart family and become a prominent wrestling figure, has faced setbacks in the wrestling industry due to personal issues and legal challenges.

Latest On Nick Hogan & Teddy Hart After Recent Arrests

Nick ‘Hogan’ Bollea is due to be arraigned later this month following his arrest and DUI charge last month in Florida

Nick, 33, was arrested on Saturday morning just before 4 am in Clearwater, Florida, where cops booked him on suspicion of driving under the influence. The report from law enforcement alleged that Hogan refused to submit to sobriety testing. Nick was returning home from a bikini contest at his father’s restaurant where alcohol was involved. Nick Hogan will be arraigned for misdemeanor DUI on December 18 at 9 AM.

Nick has had several run-ins with the law over the years. In August 2007, Hogan was involved in a car crash in which he crashed into a tree while driving under the influence. This crash came just 16 days after Hogan’s fourth speeding ticket within 11 months. The passenger in the vehicle, John Graziano, suffered massive brain damage due to the crash

Latest on Teddy Hart

Nick Hogan isn’t the only name associated with wrestling to have recent trouble with the law. In July, Teddy Hart was arrested on charges of possession of MDMA (Ecstacy) and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, each of which are both third-degree felonies in Florida.

Hart is slated for a court hearing this morning regarding his arrest. The ‘Early Resolution’ division that Hart is facing often deals with plea deals and attempts to prevent a case from going to a felony trial, so his situation may be resolved at this hearing.

Teddy Hart Is Back In Jail Again

Teddy Hart is currently being housed in the Tarrant County Correction Center in Fort Worth, Texas on various charges.

Hart was originally arrested and charged for “injuring a disabled person, evading arrest, and being in possession of a controlled substance” back in 2016. His records show he was also arrested on these same charges back in October and now again on February 10th, 2021. This likely means he has been arrested for violating the terms of his release on these charges.

The ever-useful Twitter account “@IsTeddyHartinJail” has been providing updates:

https://twitter.com/IsTeddyInJail/status/1361840374143139840

Teddy Hart has had many legal challenges over the years. He was arrested and charged with DUI, evading arrest, and auto theft in 2017. Hart was also arrested on sexual assault charges in 2014 but those charges were dropped in 2016.

He was arrested for possession and intent to sell or distribute a schedule III substance around this time last year in Virginia. A few weeks later he was arrested again for violating his house arrest. Then a few weeks after that, he was arrested for the 3rd time in under a month for strangulation resulting in wounding/bodily harm stemming from a domestic abuse incident.

He would later release a YouTube video talking about those arrests.

“When I went to go pick up some weed, I guess my license plate, which we have already knew had someone else’s name on it. I tried to explain to the officer that it’s already been taken care of. The officer said there’s nothing he could do about it and searched the car and needed to impound the car because the car came up as not mine and the registration [didn’t match] the license… While they were searching the car, they found some steroids, and they found some weed. Those are both charges and now I’m sitting in jail waiting,” Hart said.

Teddy Hart Arrested

Teddy Hart was arrested on Tuesday night in Richmond, Virginia.

He was booked on three charges of possession, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance and possession with intent to sell and distribute, according to the police report.

It should be noted that possession of a Schedule III controlled substance is a Class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia with a maximum penalty of up to 12 months in jail and / or a fine of up to $2,500.

Schedule III controlled substances can include anabolic steroids and ketamine. Hart is scheduled to appear in court on April 23rd.

Hart made his return to MLW 2017 where he would later become the leader of the New Era Hart Foundation alongside Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Brian Pillman Jr.

His most recent match under the MLW banner that took place in November. This is where he competed in a match against Myron Reed and dropped the MLW Middleweight Championship to Reed. He was released in December.

Hart was previously arrested back in 2017 after attempting to evade arrest after being pulled over for a hazardous traffic violation in Arlington, Texas. It should be noted that those charges were dropped.

He made several appearances for MLW in 2004. Hart returned to the promotion in 2017 and became one of the company’s regular stars as the leader of the New Era Hart Foundation with cousin Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Brian Pillman Jr.

Teddy Hart last wrestled for MLW on TV during the November 9th episode of Fusion where he competed in a match against Myron Reed and dropped the MLW Middleweight Championship to him.

MLW Issues An Injury Update On Teddy Hart

On MLW Fusion this week, Teddy Hart was burned by a fireball from Contra Unit’s Josef Samael. The attack occurred during Hart’s Middleweight championship match against Myron Reed. After the fireball attack, Reed was able to pin Hart and win the title.

MLW has issued a storyline update on the injuries Hart sustained.

“League physician Dr. Sweglar, who was by Hart’s side most of the weekend, has confirmed Hart suffered severe third-degree burns to the face and forehead, with the outer layer epidermis and the inner layer of skin heavily damaged,” an MLW update on Hart reads. “Given the severity of the burns, Teddy Hart is out indefinitely. There is no time table for a return at this juncture.”

Hart had just successfully defended the title against Austin Aries at Super Fight.

MLW To Host 2019 Opera Cup Tournament

Major League Wrestling announced today plans to bring back a long-running tournament from another era of professional wrestling. They are bringing back the Opera Cup.

The last time the cup was competed for was in 1948. The winner was Stu Hart. As the last champion, Hart still had possession of the trophy upon his death in 2003. Teddy Hart inherited the cup and is now bringing it out of retirement this December. MLW has announced the tournament will take place December 5th inside New York’s Melrose Ballroom.

MLW Bringing Back The Opera Cup

“Held annually for nearly 50 years at various turn-of-the-century opera house locations from New York City to Boston, the Professional Wrestling Opera House Cup was a grueling multi-day tournament,” an MLW press release for the tournament reads.

“The best of the day competed in the tournament and would often be an entree to more success, including the World Heavyweight Championship of the day. For years the cup has sat in the attic of the Hart Mansion in Calgary until the tragic passing of the last cup recipient, Stu Hart (1948 winner).”

The event will be filmed for future episodes of MLW: Fusion on BeIN Sports.

Teddy Hart Talks Carrying On Hart Foundation Legacy

Teddy Hart and the Hart Foundation currently wrestle for Major League Wrestling. Episodes of MLW Fusion can be seen Saturday nights on BeIN Sports and full episodes are posted to YouTube the following Monday. Hart is the promotion’s middleweight champion and also holds the MLW World Tag titles along with Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Brian Pillman Jr. (under the Freebird rule).

Hart spoke to Wrestling Epicenter about carrying on the Hart Foundation legacy.

“It has been a huge honor to carry the family name and to be from the Dungeon alone and to be the oldest grandson of Stu Hart,” Hart said. “It has its ups and downs. We’ve had a lot of death in our family. But, with death comes either sitting around and moping or getting up and doing something about it and trying to honor the people who are up in Heaven now watching me.”

Hart also praised the treatment he’s received in MLW.

“It has been a tough 20 years with some stuff and a good with others. MLW has probably been the best thing to happen to me except maybe the MTV show (Wrestling Society X). That was a great show but never really did anything after the first season. Hopefully MLW continues doing well and gives me a platform to show my skills.”

Teddy Hart On Wrestling Past 50

Hart also addressed how much longer he’ll wrestle in the interview. The 39-year-old says he plans to wrestle past 50.

“I’m getting a little older. Wrestling is something that you can do until you’re 50, maybe even older. I’m pretty excited about this next couple of years,” Hart said. “A lot of young guys have come up watching guys like Ricochet, Kenny Omega, Neville, The Young Bucks, myself, Jack Evans… I think the evolution of wrestling is something I’m on the forefront of. The evolution of moves. The whole thing with cool outfits and trying to expand the fan base of wrestling for the next 20 years.”

Hart will team with Brian Pillman Jr. in Chicago on Saturday as they look to defend the tag titles against the Dynasty in a ladder match.

MLW Storylines

MLW also held a show last night in Melrose Ballroom. The matches from that event will air on Fusion in the coming weeks.

Last year’s Battle Riot winner, Tom Lawlor, would wait until SuperFight earlier this year to cash in his title shot. When he did, however, he defeated Low-Ki inside the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia to take the title. He later defended it inside a steel cage against the former champion in Chicago. Last night, he wrestled Jimmy Havoc in a NYC Street Fight. That match will air on Fusion in the coming weeks.

MLW Factions

MLW features several factions which are worth noting.

The Hart Foundation faction of Davey Boy Smith Jr, Teddy Hart, and Brian Pillman Jr. began their tenure in the promotion as heels but have quickly won over the support of the MLW faithful. Promociones Dorado and the CONTRA Unit are other factions fans might want to keep their eyes on.

Salina De La Renta’s Promociones Dorado formerly had the MLW World Championship in their midst but with that gone, the faction is turning to the likes of Ricky Martinez, LA Park and Hijo De LA Park to do Salina’s bidding. She’s targetted Mance Warner as a rival but he might prove to be tougher than she expects.

Simon Gotch, Jacob Fatu, and Josef Samael look to have started guerrilla warfare in MLW. Their CONTRA faction caused near-riot conditions last month in Chicago. Battle Riot seems to be a fitting match for them to have success in.

Lucha Bros Vs The Hart Foundation Booked For MLW: SuperFight

When Major League Wrestling invades the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia on February 2nd, the Hart Foundation will look to win the MLW tag-team championships from the Lucha Bros.

MLW recently announced the title match for their Philadelphia Fusion tapings which will also include Tom Lawlor challenging Low-Ki for the MLW World Championship. Pentagon and Teddy Hart are scheduled to go one-on-one on Fusion tomorrow night as well.

https://twitter.com/MLW/status/1080866628324208640?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Eembeddedtimeline%7Ctwterm%5Eprofile%3AMLW%7Ctwcon%5Etimelinechrome&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fmlw.com%2F2019%2F01%2F03%2F7815%2F

“This is a big match,” said MLW CEO Court Bauer. “Fénix and Penta have practically cleaned out the division while the Hart Foundation have not just dominated but straight up decimated everyone we’ve thrown at them. Philly is in for something special when these four throw down.”

The Hart Foundation In MLW

Teddy Hart, Davey Boy Smith Jr, and Brian Pillman Jr make up the new incarnation of the Hart Foundation.

MLW locked up Teddy Hart to a deal last month. “I love a good comeback story,” said Court Bauer when speaking of Hart’s signing. “Teddy has lived up to his end and has brought it in every match. He’s hands down one of the most talented wrestlers of his generation and his commitment to MLW has been exceptional so we’re committing to him.”

MLW also recently signed Davey Boy Smith Jr. to a multi-year deal. “He’s been a part of MLW dating back to when he was just 18 and I know I speak for fans and the league when I say we’re very excited to see what the big guy does in 2019 and beyond,” Bauer said regarding Smith.

MLW also recently filed to trademark the name “Hart Foundation”.

Davey Boy Smith Jr. Signs With MLW, “Hart Foundation” Trademark Filed

Second generation wrestler Davey Boy Smith Jr. has signed a multi-year deal with Major League Wrestling (MLW). The agreement allows for the Bulldog to continue working for New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he’s a 3-time IWGP Tag Team Champion.

In a press release, league CEO Court Bauer called Smith a special talent. “He’s been a part of MLW dating back to when he was just 18 and I know I speak for fans and the league when I say we’re very excited to see what the big guy does in 2019 and beyond.”

Over the past year, Smith has been aligned with Teddy Hart and Brian Pillman Jr. as part of the Hart Foundation faction. Both Hart and Pillman signed with MLW in recent months, an indication the Hart Foundation will be a force to reckon with in 2019.

The Hart Foundation

Speaking of the Hart Foundation, MLW filed a trademark on the name back on December 19th, 2018. That trademark was previously held by WWE, but was canceled in May of 1999, the week of Owen Hart’s tragic death.

There have been many incarnations of the Hart Foundation over the years. The name was first used by 2-time WWE tag team champions Bret Hart and the late Jim Neidhart. During the Attitude Era, the Hart Foundation was a faction comprised of Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart, Owen Hart, Davey Boy Smith Sr. and Brian Pillman Sr. Other wrestlers affiliated with other incarnations include Jack Evans, Natalya Neidhart and husband Tyson Kidd.

Back to MLW, Teddy Hart and Brian Pillman Jr. recently launched a new web series, H2tv. The first two episodes are at MLW’s YouTube channel. The third episode will be released tonight (1/3) at 8:15pm EST. You can catch the first two episodes below, each are about 2 minutes.

Davey Boy Smith Jr. signing with MLW bolsters their roster and is the latest development in the rapidly-evolving free-agent scene.

Teddy Hart On The Ripple Effects The Hart Family Suffered From The Montreal Screwjob

Independent wrestling star Teddy Hart was recently a guest on former WWE star Sean “X-Pac” Waltman’s podcast, XPac 12360. During the appearance, Hart discussed the ripple effects felt by The Hart Family after The Montreal Screwjob.

In 1997 Bret Hart was victim to the screwjob by Vince McMahon at the Survivor Series pay-per-view (PPV). Hart was told the match was ending in a disqualification. Instead, McMahon instructed referee Earl Hebner to call for the bell once Shawn Michaels locked Hart in the Sharpshooter.

Michaels was awarded the WWE Title and the submission victory despite Hart never tapping out. Hart was preparing to go to WCW later that year and McMahon wanted to ensure he wouldn’t leave with the title.

Teddy Hart described the ripple effect the screwjob had on his family:

“It affected the unity of our family plus the WWE family because Bret [Hart] and Shawn [Michaels] were good friends before that. And it put guys like you [Waltman] in an awkward spot.

“That whole rift thing in WCW, where some of your friends left and went there and Bret going after and hitting Vince [McMahon], I think was one of the worst things that ever happened in wrestling history. That situation caused Owen [Hart] to end up in that situation too.

“Like a ripple effect. Like Davey [Boy Smith] wasn’t in the right headspace after he tried to make his comeback and Jim [Neidhart] suffered definitely from not being in the WWE system because the structure in WWE compared to WCW at the time, you know WCW was pretty wild… the ripple effect of that Montreal screwjob f–ked everybody over.”

Arrest Warrant Issued For Teddy Hart For Sexual Assault Charges From Two Different Women

An arrest warrant has been issued for Teddy Hart (aka Edward Annis) in Strathcona County, Alberta after two women accused him of sexual assault.

The charges come from alleged incidents with a 24-year-old and a 30-year-old woman, both of whom claim sexual assault and unlawful confinement.

Police are under the impression that Hart is in the United States right now and intend to officially charge him upon his return to Canada.

The women involved claimed they waited until Hart left the country before coming forward.

“We got out of there while he was out of town,” the 24 year-old woman involved said. She also said she hopes that other women will come forward with similar claims against him.
