The Great Khali Claims He Made Big Show Cry In Real Life Altercation

The Great Khali has claimed that he made Big Show cry during a real-life altercation.

The former World Champion recently had a lengthy interview with Indian publication The Lallantop. He talked about things such as his political career, his social media posts, life after wrestling and more.

During the talk, Khali was also asked about his real-life altercation with Big Show. He mentioned that the fight happened after a six-man tag in Puerto Rico. Show was apparently mad at Khali for doing his move where the Giant chopped his opponent after shoving them into the ring corner:

“We had a match in Puerto Rico, we had a six-man tag. The reaction I got for my corner chop; he didn’t get it. So he thought that it was because I did his move. He started arguing with me when we got back into the locker room. I said let it go, it’s not what we’re after. People do each other’s moves every day.”

This fight has also been detailed in Chris Jericho’s Best In The World autobiography. Y2J corroborates most of the details given by Khali, although with a more neutral stance. He even mentions Khali withstanding the first punch thrown by Show that caught the Indian star right in the Jaw.

He Started Crying: The Great Khali

The details vary when it comes to the ending of this brawl, however. While Jericho says that Big Show tripped over a chair, Khali claims that he knocked the fellow Giant out and the loss got him crying:

“I started saying things back to him. I took off my shoe, and then he came to punch me. I leaned back. I got up and leaned again for the second punch. When I punched him, he got knocked down and I got on top of him.

After 2-3 punches, all the people in the locker room pulled us apart. Afterward, he started crying. He thought he could impress the young talent by taking me out, but it backfired on him.”

The true account of the backstage altercation will probably never be known as each person telling the story has his own biases. The different perspectives of any backstage incident makes it hard to come up with one coherent narrative that fits all accounts.

It’s still fascinating to know that among the many backstage altercations WWE locker room has witnessed over the years, there was one that included two of the biggest heavyweights the sport has ever seen.

The Great Khali Gives His Perspective On Debate Of Wrestling Being Fake Or Real

The Great Khali is not interested in engaging in debates of wrestling being fake or real and he believes that if you’re a fan you should ignore others and just enjoy the sport.

The Punjabi Playboy recently sat down with RJ Rohan for an interview. He discussed topics such as if he misses the life of WWE, his new restaurant in Punjab, and more.

When asked about the constant debate about wrestling being fake vs real, Khali said that it all depends on your own mindset. He explained that wrestlers have to train for years and they go through many hardships. If someone still calls it fake, you should ignore them and enjoy the sport:

“What do you think? I believe it is as you think it is. If you think it’s fake then it’s fake. It’s fake for you but for me it’s real. If you think it’s fake then I’m saying it’s fake. See you have to spend many years on this. You have to spend a lot of time; a lot of injuries happen. It’s the toughest game. I say it’s alright if people still think it’s fake, just enjoy it.”

I Can’t Change Your Perspective: The Great Khali

The former World Heavyweight Champion mentioned how it’s fruitless to try to convince someone that wrestling is real. He explained that wrestling is one of the most popular sports in the world watched by millions.

Even if you think it’s fake, you should leave the wrestlers who make their livelihood from it and fans who enjoy it alone. He also joked that anyone who is still not convinced can get into the ring with any of his CWE wrestlers and find out:

“If you think it’s fake then I can’t change your perspective. I have CWE. My wrestler will come and powerbomb you four times. He’ll give you a tombstone like Undertaker. If you still get up it’s fake, if you stay down then it’s real. It’s simple.”

Continental Wrestling Entertainment or CWE is a wrestling school and independent promotion in Punjab, India which was founded by the WWE alumnus in 2015 after he returned from America.

The former WWE star has also gotten into politics and acting since returning to his home country. He has starred in a number of Bollywood and regional movies since retiring from active competition.

The Great Khali Stars in Sci-Fi Sequel ‘Raduaa Returns’ This November

Dalip Singh, best known to wrestling fans as The Great Khali, is a time-traveling, sword-wielding warrior in the upcoming Indian sci-fi film, Raduaa Returns.

Scheduled for release on November 22, 2024, the highly anticipated sequel will see Khali taking on a significant role. Khali plays the character Mohd. Khan in the film, which is written and directed by Nav Bajwa.

A Blueprint for WWE Stars to Follow

The film marks another chapter in The Great Khali’s successful post-WWE career, further highlighting his popularity in the entertainment world. Since leaving WWE in 2014, Khali has built a strong fanbase in India, where he is widely recognized as a national icon.

According to his IMDB page, Khali has four other acting gigs in the works. As you can see, he’s such a recognizable figure that he portrays himself in several of these projects:

  • Awara Pagal Deewana 2: Role: Hawa | Status: Pre-production
  • Necromancer: Role: The Great Khali | Status: Pre-production
  • Zombie Rome: Role: Gladiator Giant Singh | Status: Pre-production

The former World Champion has been going viral in India recently for his involvement in the ongoing general elections and his collab with the world’s shortest woman Jyoti Amge.

One development fans may have not expected to see however is Khali getting a neck tattoo rivaling that of the current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

The former WWE star real name Dalip Singh Rana visited famous Delhi artist Karan for this tattoo of a tiger. This is a play on his real name Singh, which is a word describing the king of the jungle:

The neck tattoo wasn’t the only ink Khali got done on his visit to Karan. He also got a full right arm tattoo as a tribute to his mother.

The Great Khali’s Post WWE Career

The Great Khali has continued being a celebrity in India following his exit from WWE in 2014 after a successful run with the company.

The Giant opened his own wrestling school dubbed Continental Wrestling Entertainment in Punjab. Wrestlers such as Dilsher Shanky and Kavita Devi have been signed by WWE after beginning their careers with CWE.

The WWE Hall of Famer joined the current ruling party of India, BJP in 2022. He has been active in the ongoing general elections, making appearances to promote local candidates for BJP in the states of Punjab and Haryana.

He also recently went viral for his video with Jyoti Amge. Amge is the world’s shortest living woman according to the Guinness World Records and Great Khali was seen lifting the record holder in a video he shared on Instagram.

MVP Thinks It’s “Foolish” to Compare Omos to The Great Khali

Omos is a far different kind of WWE Superstar to The Great Khali, at least according to his manager MVP.

At over seven-foot-three and weighing over 400lbs, it’s hardly surprising that fans have compared Omos to Khali, who was also seven-foot-three and tipped the scales at 420lbs.

Fans have often been critical of Khali’s wrestling ability, and on Twitter, MVP made the clear distinction between Omos, Khali and Giant Gonzalez, who was also limited in the ring due to his size.

Omos So Far

In January 2019, Omos was signed to a contract and was part of a class of seven athletes to train at the Performance Center.

The former basketball player made his NXT debut at a July 2019 Live event, and would debut on the main roster in June 2020.

Aligning with AJ Styles in October that same year, the two would capture the Raw Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 37, in Omos’ first televised match and his seventh match ever.

After losing to Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania 38, Omos would enlist the services of MVP, who manages him to this day.

What’s next for Omos?

Despite a loss to Braun Strowman at WWE Crown Jewel, the future looks very bright for Omos.

At last year’s Survivor Series, the Nigerian Giant won The Rock 25th Anniversary Battle Royal, a celebration of the silver anniversary of the Brahma Bull’s WWE debut.

WWE higher-ups are said to be pleased with the improvements Omos has made since coming to the main roster, and it is believed that he is getting better the more matches he has.

The Great Khali Accused of Slapping Toll Worker

Former WWE talent Dalip Singh Rana (The Great Khali) is accused of slapping a toll worker in India.

Tribune India reports that the incident occurred on July 11 as Khali was traveling from Jalandhar in Punjab to Karnal, Haryana. The publication also has a video of the incident, but it doesn’t show that Khali attacked the toll worker.

However, the video does show Khali confronting two toll workers as they try to put a barricade in front of his car. Khali takes it upon himself to stop them so that he can leave.

Khali is accused of attacking the worker for asking him for his ID to pass the toll when asked by police. The former wrestler shared his side of the incident and accused the toll worker of blackmailing him for a selfie.

The report states that both Khali and the toll worker deny wrongdoing towards each other. Khali also shared his experience in an Instagram post and felt that people that mistreat celebrities should be punished.

Tribune India translated Khali’s Instagram post.

“…Yesterday, while going to Karnel, tax toll employee of Phillaur stopped my car and misbehaved for selfie. When I denied selfie, he ruthlessly passed racist comments and used bad words. That’s all I want to say,” said Khali.

What’s Next for The Great Khali?

It doesn’t seem like either side will move forward with the police about the incident.

The reports shared, “Ladhowal police station on Tuesday said no complaint was lodged by either of the two sides.”

The situation could change, and SEScoops will provide an update if it does. As of now, it doesn’t appear either Khali or the toll worker is interested in revisiting the situation.

The former wrestler is also looking to put his focus on helping the Bharatiya Janata Political Party. He joined the party earlier this year and expressed how he is impressed with the work India Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done.

Despite the accusation and the video, Khali hasn’t admitted that he assaulted the worker.

The Great Khali Explains How WWE “Failed” In India

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali was recently interviewed by The New Indian Express to talk about several professional wrestling topics. During the interview Khali discussed his time with WWE and expressed his frustration with the company’s success in his native India. Khali said the WWE failed in India and it’s a key reason he decided to leave before starting his own promotion, Continental Wrestling Entertainment (CWE):

“The WWE has failed in India. They thought they would use the Great Khali fully and then leave him. I [had] been trying hard for [a long time] to leave WWE, but they kept on offering me [a] contract. Finally in 2014, I decided I [would] leave once my contract [ended] and [would] not work with them ever again. Then I came back and opened CWE [Continental Wrestling Entertainment] in Punjab, which is doing well.”

As it pertains to the state of professional wrestling in India as a whole, Khali explained how he wanted to change the mentality of how professional wrestling training is done:

“The future of wrestling is very bright and it can be better, if handled in a better way, if a coach is provided or [a better foundation] is given. The mentality of the Indian sportsmen is very weak. Many of them depend upon drugs. They feel that the consumption of drugs will help in enhancing their performance and will help them in clinching a medal. They receive too much of love after winning a medal that they forget to concentrate on sports.”

Triple H On If The Great Khali Will Return To WWE Again

WWE COO Triple H recently spoke to News 18 to talk about several professional wrestling topics. “The Game” offered his thoughts on current WWE Champ Jinder Mahal’s reign as champion, as well as former WWE World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali’s one-night return to WWE at Battleground earlier this year. Here are the highlights:

His thoughts on WWE Champ Jinder Mahal’s reign as champion thus far:

“Jinder has been champion for 3 months here I think you know there’s different ways to look at it. If I’m going to answer that from a wrestler’s point or a WWE superstar standpoint, sometimes people are looking at Jinder and saying maybe he doesn’t deserve the championship, it’s too early for him. They fail to see that Jinder was here before and yes he did not succeed the first time he was here and he went away and he left but they don’t see the hard work they don’t see the dedication he’s put in he has worked really hard and if I can say one thing from my point of view, Jinder has earned my respect. As not only a WWE superstar but as a champion I think the jury is out.

“I think it takes time to establish yourself as a champion you know superstars like Stone Cold Steve Austin or Myself or The Rock or John Cena weren’t built overnight. They take time. It takes time to earn the respect of a fan base and I think that’s what Jinder will do if he continues to put on the performance he does. He will continue to earn their respect over time. If he doesn’t then he clearly won’t be champion for long.”

The Great Khali’s one-night WWE return at Battleground:

“Great Khali is a legend in the industry and he is always welcome to the WWE and we look forward to appearances by him in the future if that is something he wants to do. I know right now he is here in India and he is enjoying and kind of helping to train the next generation of superstars as well and being very successful at that. But you know, Great Khali is always going to be a legendary figure to the WWE and that means he is welcome at any time he wants to.”

Jinder Mahal Reveals If WWE Has Any Plans For The Great Khali

We noted before how The Great Khali’s appearance on Battleground PPV was seemingly a one off deal as the former World Champion was not advertised for any of the upcoming WWE Events.

However, many believed that WWE will not call him for just one appearance and they may have something more planned for the Indian Star.

During his recent interview with Sportskeeda’s Riju Dasgupta, Jinder Mahal was asked if the Giant will reappear on WWE Programming anytime soon.

Replying to it the Modern Day Maharaja said that he hopes to see Khali again, but he also revealed that currently, WWE has no plans to bring him back for another surprise appearance:

“I would definitely hope so, but for the mean time, we don’t have anything planned. No appearances. It was just for one night for the Punjabi Prison. I’m sure The Great Khali, we haven’t seen the last of him or us together. When it’s going to happen again, that’s going to be a surprise. Whenever it is, I’m looking forward to it.”

The Great Khali made his surprise return on WWE TV during the Battleground PPV last month. There, he helped Jinder Mahal in retaining the WWE Championship in a Punjabi Prison match against Randy Orton.

Update On Great Khali’s WWE Status, NXT Wrestler’s New Look

– It would appear that The Great Khali’s surprise appearance at WWE Battleground was a one-off.

Following his return, Khali’s profile was listed on WWE’s active roster on WWE.com but has since been removed. His profile is now listed in the Alumni section again.

It was also reported last week that Khali is not advertised for any upcoming live events.

At WWE Battleground, Khali returned as a heel to assist WWE Champion Jinder Mahal in his Punjabi Prison Match against Randy Orton. He prevented Orton from escaping the structure, allowing Mahal to escape and retain the WWE Championship.

– Sawyer Fulton has changed up his look again.

At last Saturday’s WWE NXT live event in Fort Pierce, Florida, the sparingly seen wrestler appeared in new attire in a match against Nick Miller.

Fulton appeared like this the week before.

At Saturday’s show, Miller pinned Fulton following a crossbody off the top rope.

Fulton was removed from SAnitY and NXT television last November due to injury. He returned to action in late April but has only competed on house shows.

What questions might The A-Lister have in store for Jordan? Will we learn of his true aspirations now that he has joined Team Red? One thing’s for sure, even though Jordan’s the son of the Raw GM, The Miz won’t be pulling any punches.

Former World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali recently spoke with Iamin and revealed that he expects to return to the WWE ring in the near future.

“I was busy establishing my wrestling institute in Jalandhar, Punjab,” Khali said of his WWE departure. “It’s a world class institute where more than 30 young wrestlers are being trained by trainers from USA currently. I have tried to provide best facilities there so that we can prepare world class wrestlers who can represent our country in the WWE world.”

Khali was also asked why it took nearly two years to work out a new deal with WWE.

“It’s not that I had no offers from the WWE,” he said. “I had voluntarily taken this break as I needed some time to establish the institute in Jalandhar. Now that the things are on track I decided to get back to the ring. I will be back soon with some more friends from U.S. who will help me on my project to prepare WWE wrestling in India. We have trainees from all across the country. Also there are four girls apart from 30 boys who are being trained there. Top Five Biggest Stars In Wrestling Who Weren’t Good Workers

David Arquette is a former WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Being a World Champion normally means you’re a big star. Vince Russo was a former World Champion. The Great Khali is a former World Heavyweight Champion. Just so we understand each other, these guys, in my opinion, are not among the biggest stars in the history of pro wrestling.

Do we understand the formula?

Today, we are going to look at five legends of the ring who were without a doubt top stars in their prime. At one point or another, each person on this list could be considered “the guy” in the business. All were top stars who reached Championship-level success at one time or another, however they all shared one key factor in common — they pretty much sucked in the ring.

A lot of people have different ideas of what a “good worker” really is. Generally speaking, if you’re in the business, a good worker is someone who can take the live crowd on an emotional journey. Most of the people on this list were able to do that, however if you’re a die-hard fan of the sport, you have a different opinion of what a “good worker” is. To those people, a good worker is someone who took the time to perfect the craft, the art and skill of what goes on inside the squared circle. Guys who have matches that are considered “match of the year” candidates. Guys who could have what die-hard fans call “five-star matches.”

That is who we are looking at today. Guys who by die-hard fan standards would be considered god-awful workers. Guys who couldn’t have a classic, five-star match to save their life, even if they’re able — usually due to star power and enthusiasm — to pop a crowd during a match.

With all of thr explanation out of the way, let’s take a look at who made the list of the top five biggest stars who weren’t good workers.

#5. Hulk Hogan

The guy knows how to have a classic match. His WrestleMania VI clash with Ultimate Warrior, who we’ll be talking about later, surprised many. Still, if you examine the match with your “worker” glasses on you’ll notice that it wasn’t exactly a catch-as-catch-can classic by any means.

It was a great match though in the sense that the crowd was totally invested. A lot of that had to do with the promotional build-up to the match and the characters involved. The same can be said for Hogan vs. The Rock at WrestleMania X8.

A Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat classic it was not.

But the response from the fans was about as passionate as things get. Hogan can have great matches when everything falls into place, but you can’t put just anybody in the ring with him and expect a great match. As far as his star-power is concerned, Hogan is one of — if not the biggest — stars in the history of the sport.

Hulk Hogan comes in at number five.

#4. Andre the Giant

Andre The Giant is one of the biggest and most recognizable stars in professional wrestling history. In his prime as a young wrestler he would come off of the top-rope, he could throw a pretty impressive dropkick and was a lot more agile than he became later in his career.

Most will remember the run Andre The Giant had in WWE in the 1980s, but prior to that he was actually a pretty solid in-ring worker. His most famous years, however, saw a number of rest-holds killing the majority of the time in his matches. It was almost a sure thing that there would be a few bear-hugs, nerve-grip holds and the ever-popular butt-smash in the corner spot.

So again, Andre wasn’t the best in-ring technician, but he was a huge star — literally — and could elicit a great reaction from the crowd from bell-to-bell when matched with the right guy.

Regardless, Andre comes in at number four.

#3. Kevin Nash

Outside of a few matches with Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, better known to WWE-exclusive fans as “Diesel,” rarely had a match above a two-star rating. He was one of the first workers to be labeled as a guy with “five moves of doom,” long before that torch was passed to John Cena.

However, Nash was a big ingredient in the pro wrestling explosion of the late 1990s. His move to WCW, which led to the formation of the nWo, was arguably the jumping-off point of the Monday Night Wars, which ultimately led to WWE’s “Attitude Era.” WWE was forced to switch gears and change the way they do business, and Nash, along with Scott Hall, were two key players at the root of all of these changes.

Despite his importance level in the business, his work level earns him the bronze medal as one of the biggest stars who wasn’t a “good worker.”

Once an occasional treat for the WWE Universe, the Hell in a Cell match has become a yearly event since the introduction of the eponymous pay-per-view in 2009. Since its inception, the company has yet to truly knock it out of the park with Hell in a Cell, although fans have witnessed some memorable moments.

This year, it will be either John Cena or Dean Ambrose headlining the event against Seth Rollins inside the most ominous structure in sports entertainment. As the company builds up its next pay-per-view, here is a look back at the first five Hell in a Cell events.

This event really didn’t have a pay-per-view feel to it. The undercard was primarily filled with forgettable matches that had little impact on future storylines. The main event was also lacking due to injury.

It was clear that the company had no idea what to do after John Cena went down to injury, leading to Ryback receiving a premature main event push. From top to bottom, this event was lacking and easily locks up the honor of being the worst Hell in a Cell pay-per-view to date.

Main Event: CM Punk vs. Ryback (Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE Championship)

Best Match: Big Show vs. Sheamus
