The Miz Talks About Being A Babyface, CM Punk Named “Dude Of The Week”

– The Miz was recently interviewed by Denver’s Westword.com blog and had this to say about getting to travel the world as a WWE superstar and his character now being a babyface:

“I love the fact that I get to travel all over the world — I’ve gone everywhere all over America. I’ve been to China, Mexico, Europe and Australia. I’ve gotten to see the world through the WWE. Not only that, when I come out onto the stage, I get to hear the reaction of the crowd. Let me tell you something: You might not know this, but a few months ago, people were booing me. They were telling me I sucked and they hated me. But now, they’re embracing me. It’s a whole newfound glory and I’m loving every second of it.”

– The New York Daily News has named WWE superstar CM Punk as their “Dude of the Week” for recently meeting with shooting victim Thomas Dotterer in a Syracuse, NY hospital. The paper wrote:

“For paying a surprise visit. The WWE star invited Tom Dotterer to a wrestling show Sunday, but the 77-year-old was admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery related to a gunshot wound to the eye he suffered in January during a robbery at his liquor store. Dotterer couldn’t make it to the WWE event so Punk (showing he’s hardly one) came to the hospital before the show for some spirit lifting. A letter Dotterer wrote, read by his son during a fund-raiser, showed he was thinking of Punk. Dotterer asked to be forgiven by those he “sarcastically ripped apart or had opinionated exchanges with.”

Jim Ross Reacts To The Passing Of Paul Bearer, Snitsky To Play “The Undertaker” In Upcoming Movie, The Miz

– WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has posted an article in remembrance of memorable wrestling manager William “Paul Bearer” Moody, who passed away Tuesday at the age of 58-years-old after being diagnosed with a blood clot over the weekend.

“As great as Taker’s run has been in WWE, arguably the most marvelous, long term run in WWE history, it would have not been the same without Paul Bearer being added to the presentation in the Phenom’s formative years,” wrote Ross, who he personally referred to as Percy. “They went together like BBQ sauce on a great rack of ribs and created a presentation that including the perfect music, with perfect lighting and special effects to go along with the amazing package of the Dead Man and his scary, unmistakable figure of a manager.”

He continues, “Percy was so proud of his sons and loved his family deeply. His southern roots ran deep as he never moved, for long any way, from Alabama. During the football season we would exchange messages or talk about his Crimson Tide and my Sooners hoping that they would meet for the national title in our life time. If I got a ‘Roll Tide’ message on my phone or on Twitter I did not have to think twice about who sent it.”

– Former WWE wrestler Gene Snitsky has been cast in the film adaptation of Bill Bean’s book Dark Force. He will play “the central supernatural entity in the film,” with the character billed as “The Undertaker.” Additional information on the film is available here.

The Miz Talks About Balancing Wrestling & Acting, Haters, WM27 Concussion

WWE superstar The Miz spoke to ESPN.com this week to promote the release of his new WWE Studios DVD, “The Marine 3: Homefront.” Here are some highlights of what The Miz said about:

Advice From The Rock Balancing Wrestling & Acting: I texted The Rock, because let’s face it, The Rock is the biggest action hero right now in movies, so I was like, listen, Rock, what’s your best advice, and he told me to just be natural. He said that too many times guys try and be this big guy, but it ends up looking robotic. He told me to act natural, have fun, and enjoy the scenes, enjoy yourself. It sounds so simple, but when you get in there and there are all these cameras and you have different takes and different feelings, being natural is great advice, and it actually helped out a lot.

Why He Attracts Haters: Haters love me. [laughs] That’s why I’ve got the T-shirt. It’s a little bit of everything. I think when you come from a reality show, nobody really respects you from the movie industry or from the WWE industry. Our WWE fans are very critical. It’s like a fraternity, and if you’re not a part of that fraternity, guess what, you’re hated. And for a very, very long time, I had to earn the respect of all the WWE Universe, and I’m glad I’ve had the opportunity to do that. I think, finally, after seven years of working hard and dedicating myself, I’ve finally turned the fans, and you’ll actually hear them cheering nowadays. That’s what I hope to do with the movie industry. I hope the movie industry looks at “The Marine 3: Homefront” and goes, wow, not only has this guy been on a reality show and in WWE, but this guy can really act and did an incredible job.

Getting A Concussion In The Main Event of WrestleMania 27: I watch it back and I don’t remember a thing. There are bits and pieces that come back, but most of it is just one big blur. It’s funny, because when we went backstage, my parents got to go backstage to see if I was OK, and the next day, my dad comes up to me and starts showing me all these pictures he took backstage. He was like, “Oh my God, I got The Rock, I got John Cena, I got Rock’s mom, this is incredible.” So I was like, “Wait a minute, Dad, when did you get these?” And he said, “You were concussed and you kept asking the same questions and it got annoying so I just went out and started taking pictures with everybody.” I was like, “Thanks, Dad, I appreciate that!”

The Miz Talks WrestleMania 29, The Marine 3, Being An Ambassador For WWE

The superstar The Miz recently spoke to LocalBozo.com to promote his new WWE Studios release “The Marine 3: Homefront” and the upcoming WrestleMania 29 pay-per-view. Here are some highlights of what The Miz said, followed by audio of the full interview:

Getting Cast In The Marine & How It Compared To Performing Live In Front Of WWE Crowds:

Well you know, coming into The Marine 3: Homefront, I wanted to really show everyone- I didn’t want people to look at the movie and go “Oh that’s The Miz” or “Oh that’s Mike from ‘The Real World’” or “That’s a WWE Superstar.” I wanted them to go “Oh wait, this is something new, this is something different.” So to get ready for this role, I kind of looked at some old school action stars like “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” with Clint Eastwood and “Dirty Harry.” Watching him perform in these kinds of roles, he didn’t say much, but when he did, you were intrigued and he was a show stealer just when he walked in here- just his aura. And then also, I looked to Paul Newman in “Cool Hand Luke,” and how just cool and natural and relaxed he was. And then watching the “Die Hards” with John McClain and the action and the real kind of setting- he’s just like an every guy. And so I wanted to bring that to “The Marine 3: Homefront.” I wanted people to go ‘Wow this is real. It’s gritty. It’s dark.” And hopefully with the success of 1 and 2, I’m hoping to continue it and hopefully exceed it.

The Responsibility Of Being A WWE Ambassador:

Yeah, you know, any time someone wants me to talk about the company that I work for- whether it be MTV, Bunim-Murray, WWE or WWE Studios or Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, I always want to talk about it or brag about it if you will because I’m proud of it. There is nothing wrong with being proud of what you do for a living and if people want to be negative about it, that’s going to happen. It happens all the time- no matter what you do or where you’re from there’s always going to be someone that hates on it. And that’s fine because that’s their freedom of speech and everyone’s going to have an opinion but it’s my job to have thick skin and to say you know what? That’s fine, but I love WWE. I’ve loved every opportunity that they’ve given me. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a little kid to do it. And not only that, but MTV and Bunim-Murray have given me the opportunity to- actually open my eyes with The Real World and allow me to realize that I could pursue my dream because I do really believe that I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for The Real World. So I embrace- you know people sometimes say “Oh you gotta forget about the reality in order to be successful in WWE and in movies,” but I say no. I’m gonna embrace every life thing that’s happened to me because without that, I wouldn’t be where I am today and today I am a happy person.

Where He Fits In At WrestleMania:

You know MetLife Stadium, basically our Super Bowl, our NBA Finals, our World Series- only bigger- and I am ecstatic about it. Right now, I’m not sure exactly where I’m standing in the Wrestlemania [card]. I know I’ll be a part of it, but I don’t have a match yet. So I’m looking for anyone who wants to battle this guy because what I plan on doing is- even though the main event is John Cena versus The Rock for the WWE Championship- I feel like what people are going to be talking about after Wrestlemania will be what The Miz did.

The Miz Talks About Who He Wants To Work With In WWE, New WWE Belt & More

WWE superstar The Miz spoke to The Film Yap this week to promote his new movie, The Marine 3: Homefront. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Which WWE Superstar He Wants To Work With

“I’d like to work The Rock. He was basically the person I looked at and said ‘I want to be a WWE Superstar.’ Just to watch him during the Attitude Era and to watch his matches. Not only to go up against him, but to exceed him. That’s what every WWE Superstar wants to do, whether it’s CM Punk, John Cena, you want to take it to the next level. I’ve already had that huge program with John Cena that took me to the next level, which taught me so much about the WWE, and there’s always CM Punk who is doing such a great job. He was WWE Champion for 400-plus days and is still on a roll. Those are great superstars who you want to get. You always want to be at the top.”

Continuing To Act:

“Not only do I want to continue it, I am continuing it with “The Christmas Bounty.” I start filming that in April and it comes out at Christmas.”

The New WWE Championship Belt:

“I really like it. When I was WWE champion, I changed the belt too, changing the WWE logo to an “M” and stopping it from spinning. I agree with the Rock. A championship should not spin and should not be looked at as a toy. It should be looked upon with prestige and I think this new title reflects that. When people win World Series or NBA Finals or Super Bowls, I think they’ll be wearing this around their waists because it embodies what a title should look like.”

The Miz Talks Marine 3, WrestleMania 29, Working With Flair, New WWE Championship Belt Design

Hosted by Lindsey Ward & Sir Rockin
Sponsored by PWMania.com
Listen Live on Thursday Nights 11pm ET on Wildtalkradio.com

Listen Here: The Miz Interviewed on The Rack (.MP3)

Former WWE Champion/Intercontinental Champion/multi-time Tag Team Champion and star of “The Marine 3: Homefront” Mike “The Miz” Mizanin joined “2012 Award Winning Best New Show” the Rack Thursday Night. In a nearly 15 minute interview, he discussed his upcoming film ‘The Marine 3: Homefront’ and what it was like working with co-stars Neal McDonough and Ashley Bell, his own personal expectations in life, the WrestleMania experience, working with Ric Flair and people comparing him to be ‘the next Ric Flair’, he thoughts on the new WWE Title design, being well-dressed in the WWE locker room, the special nature of his ring jackets and more.

On the Marine 3 “Homefront” and working with the likes of Neal McDonough and Ashley Bell: “We spent about a month up in Vancouver shooting this and it was my first real movie that I’ve actually been able to do and had so much fun; I mean, whenever you get to work with stars like Neal McDonough, who’s done it all in the business, has been in the business for so long and has done such incredible work and I get to have the opportunity to go opposite of him and be the good guy while he’s the villain, which normally I’m used to being the villain, let me tell you something. I’m used to being the bad guy, the person people boo and tell that they suck and that kind of stuff, so it’s definitely interesting to be the hero for once.

I think there are challenges for everything but I’m always open to all challenges, like I love new things and experiencing new experiences. I mean, when I did ‘The Real World’ back in New York about 12 years ago on MTV, that was a completely new experience and from that day forward, I said ‘You know what? I’m going to do everything I’ve ever wanted to in my life” And that’s when I set out to become a WWE Superstar and when doing the WWE, they offered me ‘The Marine 3: Homefront’ and I couldn’t be more excited because the franchise started with John Cena, and the second was with Ted DiBiase, Jr. and I now get to do the third installment and both of those were highly successful and I’m hoping to keep that success going with ‘The Marine 3: Homefront’, if not exceeding all expectations and that’s basically what I’ve always wanted to do with everything that I’ve done in WWE as well as movies, as well as my life; is just not only get to my dreams, but exceed them and I think I’m doing a pretty good job of it so far.

Ashley Bell was great; she plays my little sister, who actually gets kidnapped by a terrorist, radical, militia group and that’s basically where the marine has to come in and save the day or at least try to save the day, we’ll see what happens when you see the movie. But working with her was fantastic; she’s a great actress, watching her in ‘The Last Exorcism’ as well as the new one, her new movie ‘The Last Exorcism 2” is coming out as well, so she’s been doing a great job in there and going opposite of her was fantastic as well. So, I cannot say enough great things about Neal McDonough as well as Ashley Bell, as well as all the other cast of people in ‘The Marine 3: Homefront’, that made this movie so great for me to just walk in there and really do my thing and feel so comfortable. Afterwards, when we were done, it was like we were one big family, you know?”

The Upcoming WrestleMania: “Oh my god, are you kidding me? I mean, WrestleMania 29 at Met Life Stadium and New York City, where it all started; that’s what it’s all about. This is like our Super Bowl, our NBA Finals, our World Series; WrestleMania, I like to think, is bigger than them all because this is what we lead up to. Every Superstar wants to be in that Main Event-caliber match; now, granted, I don’t believe I’ll be in it this year because, you know, The Rock is the WWE Champion and he gets to face either CM Punk or John Cena, whoever wins on Monday Night RAW this Monday night, basically he’ll be going against them in the main event. So, it saddens me that I won’t be in the main event but I cannot be more excited to be going to Met Life Stadium and having a match; whoever it is, is going to lose because, let’s face it: I’m undefeated at WrestleMania, I’m 3-0. I’ve main evented WrestleMania before and I’ll do it again; it may not be this year, it could be next year in New Orleans, where WrestleMania 30 will be taking place. But, we are gearing up for WrestleMania 29 and it’s going to be spectacular, so if you don’t have tickets or if you’re thinking about getting the Pay-Per-View, this is your sell to say basically, ’Hey, go get it, because you’ll have a memory to last a lifetime.”

Working with Ric Flair: “What an honor; I host a show on RAW called MizTV and my guest at that time was Ric Flair and , you know, not only did I get to do a “Woo” off with Ric Flair, going “Woo” “WOO”, you know; that was a childhood dream. Not only that, but Antonio Cesaro, a person I was feuding up against, basically told Ric Flair that he was a has-been and a never-was, ‘yadda, yadda, yadda’. Ric Flair and I took Antonio apart; as I told Ric Flair to give him the figure-four, what everyone wanted to see, Ric Flair gave me the honor of slapping on the figure-four to Antonio Cesaro. So, to keep that honor, that tradition going, I’m going to keep using the figure-four leglock, and hopefully make Ric Flair proud because as a kid growing up, I was putting the figure-four on all my friends, so it’s very, very cool to do that.”

On people comparing him to be ‘The next Ric Flair’: “I will take that and I will run with it, thank you very much. You know, that’s a compliment and a half because Ric Flair has done everything there is to do in the WWE; he is a living legend and has touched so many people through the years upon years, decades I guess you could say, of the work he’s done for this business and where he has come and where he has brought it is just incredible. I mean, he is ‘the man’, and will always be ‘the man’. So, if can style and profile like Ric Flair, then I will do the best I possibly can; if people want to say it, perfect. ”

His thought on the new WWE Title and it’s design: “You know what, I actually changed the title when I was WWE champion as well; I changed the “W” into an “M”, and it no longer spun because I kind of agree with The Rock; at a time, there was a time and place for that WWE Championship, but this isn’t the time or place anymore. A WWE Championship, I don’t think, should be looked at as a toy, it shouldn’t spin. It should be something people celebrate and that people look at and go ‘you know what, I want to wear one of those. That’s the thing I want to grow up to have.’ And I think this title embodies exactly what a WWE Championship should look like.”

The Miz’s Affiliation With Ric Flair, Great News For WWE’s TV Ratings

– While The Miz is still using the Figure Four leg lock as one of his finishing moves, f4wonline.com reports that the storyline of him being Flair’s new protege is probably done.

– In a move that will eventually have a big positive impact on WWE’s television ratings, the Hollywood Reporter reports that starting in September, Nielsen Media Research will begin accounting for viewership from streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu, as well as viewership from iPads and other mobile devices. Considering WWE’s partnership with Hulu Plus and the amount of people that watch clips of WWE television content on Youtube, WWE should see a substantial increase in their Nielsen ratings, which will in turn increase the amount of revenue they can command from advertisers.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Nielsen is partnering with Twitter to incorporate social media activity into the weekly Nielsen ratings as well. Between video streaming and social media activity being factored in, WWE’s strong embrace of emerging technologies and social media is about to pay off big time.

“Even with Miz stooping to new lows and resorting to cheap shots, I am still YOUR #USChampion #WWEChamber”

“Now that is what a DQ looks like RT @SinCaraN1Fan: @MikeTheMiz Kicking @AntonioCesaro in the ___ #Revenge #WWEChamber”

WrestleMania 30 Location Update, Miz Talks About Being A Babyface

– WWE superstar The Miz spoke to New Orleans’ Times-Picayune newspaper this week to promote Sunday’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. When asked what’s it’s like to play a babyface in WWE after spending years as a villain, The Miz said:

“The funny thing is that I never changed. To me, I’ve never been bad or good. I’ve always been The Miz. I’m used to people booing me and telling me I suck. Now, they’re chanting I’m awesome, but I’ll take it.”

To read the full interview, head over to NOLA.com.

– Speaking of New Orlens, NFL New Orleans Saints Quarterback Drew Brees tweeted the following Friday:

This is the latest bit of speculation that WrestleMania 30 will be held from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana next year. With Sunday’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view taking place from the city, it’s expected that WWE will make an official announcement regarding the WM30 location over the next few days.

– The latest issue of WWE Magazine features the following movie poster for the WWE Studios film “The Marine 3: Homefront” starring The Miz:

Heat On The Miz For CM Punk’s Injury Scare? RAW DVR Issue for Tonight

– Several readers have sent in word that their cable providers’ TV guides are listing tonight’s RAW as 3 separate shows (each hour being displayed individually, instead of one 3-hour block). This will cause issues with fans attempting to DVR tonight’s show. So far, we’ve heard Comcast, RCN and Charter are experiencing the issue.

** If you DVR RAW, double check that you have the whole show set to record!

– According to WWE sources, CM Punk was definitely banged up at Saturday night’s WWE live event from Springfield, Missouri when The Miz botched a suplex and nearly dropped Punk directly on his head. It’s not believed that Punk suffered a concussion, but it was a nasty bump that could have aggravated some other issues Punk has been dealing with. He’s expected to work tonight’s RAW and for those wondering, there does not appear to be any heat on The Miz following the incident.

Pictures Of The Miz Dumping CM Punk On His Head

As noted earlier, CM Punk had an injury scare at Saturday night’s WWE RAW live event from Springfield, Missouri after The Miz botched a stalled suplex and nearly dropped Punk directly on his head. Punk rolled out of the ring where he was checked out by WWE officials for several minutes before finishing the match.

According to a live correspondent who was at Sunday night’s WWE RAW live event from Cape Girardeau, CM Punk wrestled in the tag team main event, showed no signs of injury and even took hard bumps during the match. Thankfully, this looks like Saturday night’s incident was simply a close call for Punk and nothing more.

Here are pictures of the spot that could have gone terribly wrong:

The Miz Talks About Working With Ric Flair, Winning The Royal Rumble & More

WWE superstar The Miz recently spoke with Comcast to hype Sunday’s WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Here are highlights of what he said about:

His theme song:

“I will say I have one of the best entrance themes in all of WWE. I won’t say the best of all time because my favorite is The Brood. They didn’t even have words, and they didn’t need words. They had the best entrance as well coming up through the fire was just awesome.”

Winning The Royal Rumble:

“When I win the Royal Rumble I will have the choice between the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship. So, you look at it and you go, CM Punk vs. the Rock. CM Punk has held the title for 400-something days. He’s a proven champion and he’ll do whatever it takes to win that title at all costs. Then you have the Rock coming back, hasn’t been in the ring in almost a year now. CM Punk has been defending the championship for the past year. He’s crisp, he’s in his prime. The Rock might have a little ring rust. But, I want the Rock to win. The Rock is the reason I wanted to become a WWE Superstar. I would like to face the Rock in the main event of Wrestlemania, beat him, then solidify myself as the most must-see WWE Superstar of all time.”

Having a Woo-Off with Ric Flair:

“(Laughs) You know, you really can’t beat having a ‘Woo’ off with the legend Ric Flair. Not only that, but to have Ric Flair allow me to apply the figure four, it’s almost like… I hate to say a passing of a torch, but I felt so honored. To sit there and talk to Ric Flair on Miz TV and not only strut like Ric and ‘Woo’ like Ric, but to have the honor of putting on the figure four and now using the figure four is just an incredible feat.”

Ric Flair & Rey Mysterio Not At Monday’s RAW, Talk Of Miz Getting YouTube Show

– With Zack Ryder and Dolph Ziggler’s YouTube shows recently ending and WWE making some changes to their YouTube content offerings, there has been talk of The Miz getting his own YouTube show.

– Speaking of The Miz, his new mentor, Ric Flair, was not at Monday’s RAW from San Jose, California as expected. As of last week, Flair was booked for the show, however the only sign of Flair on RAW was during a video package recapping Flair’s appearance on Miz TV last week. It’s possible that WWE kept Flair off the show because The Miz was booked to lose to Dolph Ziggler in a Beat the Clock match, but that’s just speculation on our part.

Flair was also scheduled to work tonight’s WWE SmackDown tapings from Sacramento before heading to Japan to wrestle for All Japan Pro Wrestling later this week, but it remains to be seen if he’ll appear tonight.

– Rey Mysterio was also not at Monday’s RAW from San Jose. He tweeted the last night that he was headed home to watch RAW with his kids after taking a yoga class. Mysterio worked Friday night’s WWE live event, but is still not considered to be back with WWE full time. His status for the Royal Rumble remains up in the air, despite previous reports that he and Sin Cara would be at the PPV.

The Latest On Ric Flair’s WWE Status & Why He’s Working With The Miz

Following his appearance on Monday’s 20th Anniversary RAW, Ric Flair is still working for WWE without a contract in place. WWE is interested in signing him and it’s possible we’ll see a deal made in the coming weeks. TNA has also sent out feelers to Ric Flair about a possible return, but he’ll will be appearing for WWE over the next few months.

Flair is currently booked next week’s WWE RAW from San Jose, California and the following night’s SmackDown tapings from Sacramento. After that, he heads overseas to Japan for his coming match for All Japan Pro Wrestling.

As for Flair’s appearance on Miz TV, it was done to solidify The Miz a babyface and for Flair to “give” The Miz his Figure Four leg lock as a new finishing move. Flair reportedly joked to The Miz backstage, “I hope they let you beat people with it because I never did.”

A WWE source says we haven’t seen the last of Flair and Miz appearing on television together.
