VIDEO: Logan Paul Trains At WWE Performance Center Ahead Of WrestleMania 38

Logan Paul has been prepping for his in-ring debut.

The YouTube sensation is set to team with The Miz on night one (April 2) of WrestleMania 38. The two will take on Rey and Dominik Mysterio inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Logan Paul Trains At WWE PC

WWE released footage of Paul having a training session a week prior to the “Grandest Stage of Them All.” In the clip, Shane Helms heaped praise on Paul’s fast progression.

“Training Logan Paul has been one of the easiest celebrity trainings I’ve ever done. He’s a natural athlete, natural charisma, natural personality. It’s just a matter of feeding him a little bit of information, he processes it and dude, it’s been super easy.”

The Miz also chimed in, saying Paul has been passing every test with flying color thus far.

“Logan Paul, I had a bar set. He has exceeded the bar every step of the way. This kid is on another level.”

John Cena Praises The Miz For WrestleMania 27 Match

John Cena main evented several WrestleManias during his decade-long stint as the face of WWE. One of them was against The Miz at WrestleMania 27.

The A-lister recently took on his Twitter to remind the Cenation leader of his victory on the Show of Shows 11 years ago. In response, the 16-time world champion praised his opponent for his work ethic.

John Cena replied positively while responding to the question of whether he remembers the match. He mentioned how The Miz did his best for the audience and claimed that his passion has not changed:

“I do. Vividly. You worked your a** off on the road to the event and at the event itself. Sacrificing your body during the event to do all you could to give the audience every ounce, even possibly at the expense of your own memory. Your passion and dedication hasn’t ever changed.”

The Miz walked into WrestleMania 27 as the WWE champion. He managed to win the match after The Rock interfered and delivered a Rock Bottom to John Cena.

The Miz is currently involved in a feud with The Mysterios. He is set to face Rey Mysterio on the WrestleMania go-home episode of Raw this Monday. John on the other hand, is not expected to be part of the big event in any way.

Spoiler On The Miz’s Mystery Partner For WWE WrestleMania Match

WWE is bringing in a celebrity for WrestleMania 38 who will be paired with The Miz. The former WWE Champion lost to Rey Mysterio on the Elimination Chamber Kickoff show thanks to outside inference from Dominik.

Later in the show, while doing a backstage interview, Miz stated that he would bring in a global superstar to be his partner against Rey and Dominik. Pwinsider.com reports Logan Paul is believed to be the person who will team up with The Miz with the match expected to take place at WrestleMania.

Fightful Select confirmed that they heard this pitch was made. It was added that WWE wants to go “all out” to sell out both nights of the show in addition to the expectation that this would be the case for two-night WrestleMania shows that happen moving forward.

Paul made his WWE television debut during the build to WrestleMania 37 where he was ringside for Kevin Owens‘ match against Sami Zayn. Following the bout, Owens laid Paul out with a stunner.

The YouTube star also made an appearance on Monday Night Raw last August. The card for Mania is starting to take shape.

The Miz Talks Recent Releases from WWE

WWE Superstar The Miz recently discussed the recent releases from the company over the past 6 months.

Several major names were let go, including Mike Mizanin’s tag team partner John Morrison.

Speaking to The Rich Eisen Show, The Miz talked about the releases from the company and seeing his colleagues being let go.

“It’s always tough when your friends and your colleagues get released,” The Miz began, discussing the releases.

“But you always wish for the best for them and you just, you do what you do. You just keep going, you know? Like my buddy John Morrison, he got released. He was my tag team partner for a very long time. When he got released, I was like, ‘ah man’, you know?” Miz continued.

“But I know John and I know the type of person he is and I know he’ll succeed in everything that he does, right? And so, you always wish the best for them.

“And, for me in WWE, like, when you go to Monday Night RAW, ‘alright. What am I doing? How do I make this something that the live audience who paid money for their seats can get something out of this? Can really sink their teeth into, you know, and have a memory?'” The former WWE Champion concluded.

It is expected that Morrison will be heading to IMPACT or AEW once his non-compete is over, although this has not as of yet been officially confirmed.

The Miz Says MJF is No Copycat: “He’s Doing a Great Job”

The Miz has some flattering things to say about AEW star Maxwell Jacob Friedman.

Cheap Heat’s Peter Rosenberg and Stat Guy Grey interviewed The Miz to promote this weekend’s Royal Rumble premium live event.

Rosenberg asked the Awesome One what he thinks about MJF. Miz praised the Island loudmouth and believes that he’s not an imitation of anybody.

“I don’t think he wants to be The Miz, to be honest,” said The Miz. “I don’t think any superstar, no matter what company you’re in, wants to be the next this person. You want to be an original,”

He also believes there are comparisons, but every wrestler strives to be an original.

“I don’t think he wants to be the next Miz, I think he wants to be the first him, and honestly, I say he’s doing a great job at it.”

The Miz also praised MJF for what he’s accomplished at just 25 years old.

Listen to The Miz on the latest episode of Cheap Heat:

What’s Next for MJF

MJF is currently in a feud with CM Punk. The rivalry started two months ago, but AEW hasn’t put them in a singles match against each other. However, last night on AEW Dynamite, the company finally booked them in a match for next week.

AEW’s next pay-per-view, Revolution, takes place on March 6th at the Additional Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida. This match seemed destined to be a PPV attraction, but Punk vs. MJF will go down on TBS in just a matter of days.

Bully Ray Shares How He Thinks Edge-Miz Feud Can Be More Interesting

Bully Ray has an idea on how the feud between Edge and The Miz can be more intriguing.

Edge and Miz have begun a program on WWE TV. To some, this has been disappointing as there were high hopes for the next Edge rivalry following his highly regarded Hell in a Cell match with Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel.

Bully Ray Adds Spice To Edge vs. The Miz

Bully Ray took to an episode of Busted Open Radio to throw out his suggestion on how to create more buzz around this program.

He explained why at the moment he isn’t invested and how things can change.

“Not really because I know what I’m gonna get. This is just a typical WWE storyline. I would like something different.

“I would like something other than typical — do I think I’m going to get a great match between The Miz and Edge? Absolutely. Am I gonna get great promos from The Miz and Edge? Absolutely.

“I know what I wanna see though. I wanna see them go beyond The Miz and Edge. I’d like to see The Miz have somebody standing next to him and her name would be Maryse Mizanin, and I wanna see Edge having somebody standing next to him and that woman’s name is Beth Phoenix.

“I want The Miz and Maryse vs. Edge and Beth moving forward because Edge and Miz — okay yeah, sure. Two WWE superstars, great promos, great matches been there done that but the intergender stuff with the wives, now we’re onto something.

“Especially if they have to have a dance-off cause if there’s a dance-off then you know all the sh*t hits the fan.”

The Miz and Maryse are no strangers to ruffling the feathers of fellow real-life couples. Things got physical during The Miz’s 2016 feud with Dean Ambrose, known as Jon Moxley outside of WWE.

Moxley’s wife, Renee Paquette slapped The Miz and Maryse returned the favor by slapping Renee. Miz and Maryse also had a feud with John Cena and Nikki Bella back in 2017.

Maryse Returns On WWE Raw, Edge Mentions CM Punk’s Reference About The Miz

WWE had a few returns during the top of the second hour of Monday’s episode of Raw as Edge came out for a promo, which marked his first appearance since Crown Jewel where he defeated Seth Rollins in a Hell in a Cell match.

The WWE Hall of Famer talked about all of the top stars on the roster such as Damian Priest, Big E, AJ Styles, and Finn Balor as potential opponents, but pointed out how he hadn’t mentioned one name. This led to The Miz, who has been gone while being on the latest season of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, and Maryse, his wife, coming out to the ring.

Miz had an issue with WWE giving so much attention to Edge’s return even though he’s only been away for a month. He brought up how he doesn’t get the same treatment as Edge. He declared his wife is officially back in WWE and knocked Edge. He thinks he has surpassed Edge a long time ago and Edge should have stayed home for good.

Edge stated that Miz lives rent-free in people’s heads and people on other shows mention his name just to get a cheap reaction, which was a reference to CM Punk calling MJF a less famous version of The Miz on last week’s AEW Dynamite.

Miz declined the offer to fight Edge and left the ring. It appears the match will take place at the Day 1 PPV event in January.

The Miz Explains Why He Stayed On TV Despite Torn MCL

The Miz has detailed why he was able to stay on WWE TV despite a torn MCL.

For years, WWE has relied on The Miz to play any role they wish for him to do. Whether it’s as WWE Champion or as a goofy midcarder, The Miz has been a team player since his arrival on the main roster back in 2006.

The Miz has also been able to stay relatively healthy throughout his career. In a Zombie lumberjack match of all things, he ended up tearing his MCL. While many expected him to miss a substantial amount of time, The Miz remained on WWE TV in a non-wrestling role.

During an appearance on Off The Vine, the former two-time WWE Champion explained how he managed to avoid time off.

“My first major injury was about twelve weeks ago when I tore my MCL. I didn’t have surgery. It was partially torn, but I had to sit out. It was the first time I had to actually take time off, but I didn’t. The doctor was like, ‘you can still be on the program, you can’t do much, you can have crutches or a wheelchair.’ I was like, ‘I will take a wheelchair and John [Morrison], my tag team partner will roll me around in it. I don’t want to have to do anything. Honestly, it created for great content.”

The Miz ended up turning his back on John Morrison but plans for the feud have been halted. That’s because The Miz is a currently contestant on Dancing With The Stars. He was able to survive the first round.

Damian Priest Credits The Miz For Helping Him Improve Promo Work

Damian Priest says The Miz is someone he’s been able to learn from as far as promo work is concerned.

Priest and The Miz have been feuding for months. During their time on TV, Priest has been able to grasp doing promos. Once WWE transitioned from the ThunderDome back to live crowds, Priest had to speak in front of large audiences.

During an appearance on After The Bell with Corey Graves, Priest admitted that while being on the mic is nerve-racking, The Miz was able to teach him a lot.

“I couldn’t ask for a better way to segue from NXT to Raw than working with The Miz. He just knows how to be important. He knows how to be front and center and be a star. Just being in the ring with him, I can feed off that stuff and learn. Watching him do things, I’m like, ‘Oh, I should probably do it that way.

“To me, the most uncomfortable thing is holding a microphone and speaking to the WWE Universe. With him, I see how his flow goes and how he breaks and how he makes sure that you understand every single word he says. Being in the ring on Miz TV, I’m listening to him speak and the way he delivers it. You can see when I start speaking and by the end, I’m more speaking how he does. I’m like, ‘This is why he’s so good.’ The way his speaking gear changes and he can deliver different types of emotions and levels.”

Damian Priest has been receiving a steady push on WWE television. He is the current United States Champion. He won the title from Sheamus at SummerSlam. At WrestleMania earlier this year, he teamed with Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny. The two defeated The Miz and John Morrison.

The Miz On Criticism Of Zombie Match At WrestleMania: Backlash

The Zombie lumberjack match at WrestleMania: Backlash between The Miz and Damien Priest received some harsh criticism from fans after the show.

The former WWE champion and his wife recently had an interview with ComicBook.com where they talked about a number of things including a potential return for Maryse and more.

The Miz was also asked about his initial reaction to the idea of a zombie match during the interview. Replying to the question, he explained that he is the type of person who gets his creative juices flowing with any such opportunity:

“So a lot of people would be like, “What is this? Oh, my God.” I’m the type of person that goes, this allows my creative juices to do whatever the hell we kind of want. So let’s make a movie out of it.

Let’s make a meal out of it. I mean, there was a part in that match where Damian and I worked together to beat up all the zombies.”

The Miz then discussed the fan reaction to the bout. The Raw star said that it’s very easy to go online and critique something:

“And some people give us flack for going outside the box.” said The Miz, “And the problem with, I feel like, today’s world is that it’s so easy to just literally go on the Internet and just critique and say, “This is terrible. This is horrible.”

The former champion gave the example of his storyline with Bad Bunny. He explained that nobody wanted to see it until it unfolded and said that nobody wants to let things develop and get fun.

Apart from this, The Miz discussed things such as starring as Johnny Cage in the next Mortal Kombat film and more. You can check out his full interview here.

The Miz Comments On Zombie Attack At WrestleMania Backlash

The Miz was the victim of a zombie attack at WrestleMania Backlash. His lumberjack match with Damian Priest on the show involved an interesting promotion for Netflix’s Army of the Dead movie starring Dave Bautista. The zombie involvement drew some criticism from fans.

Miz was recently interviewed by Forbes and spoke about the zombie involvement at WrestleMania Backlash.

“I had a blast with it,” said Miz about the match.

“I always enjoy whenever there’s something different and something out of the box, and whenever there’s something like that, I wanna be a part of it because you never know what’s going to happen. You never know if it’s gonna be a success or if it’s gonna be a failure. People were different, people were 50/50 ‘oh we can’t stand this match,’ or ‘oh my God this is a great match, it’s kind of funny, it’s kind of interesting,’ so I just look at it like ‘I’m gonna do the best I possibly can and give the match that hopefully everyone wants and deserves.”

The Army of the Dead movie currently holds a 69% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The plot involves Bautista’s character organizing a team to enter a quarantined and zombie-infected city of Las Vegas. Bautista also Tweeted about the zombie involvement at WrestleMania Backlash.

The Miz Talks John Morrison Deserving More Singles Main Event Chances

WWE Superstar The Miz is set to take some time away from the ring. It was reported that the former WWE Champion was injured the ‘zombie’ lumberjack match at the WrestleMania Backlash show. Although the severity has not been publicly revealed, he sustained an ACL tear.

With Miz now out for some period of time, that leaves his tag team partner John Morrison open to pursue a singles run on Monday Night RAW. Speaking to Forbes, The Miz recently said that WWE needs to have John Morrison near the top of the card as soon as possible.

The Miz on John Morrison

“I don’t see myself and John Morrison splitting up for a very long time. If ever,” The Miz revealed to Forbes. “I don’t see that happening. We’re too connected, we have too much chemistry and we still have more to go.”

“John pushes me more than anybody else in WWE” The Miz added. “Right now, he is just absolutely incredible, he is on a tear. I think if he’s not in the main event scene going for the WWE or Universal Championship in the next year? I think this is something we’re missing in WWE.”

The Miz On Potential Break Up With John Morrison

A lot of people believe that going their separate ways would be better for the careers of both John Morrison and The Miz but the latter believes that they will continue being partners for a long time.

He recently had an interview with Forbs. It was conducted before the former WWE champion suffered a nasty injury in his WrestleMania: Backlash match against Damian Priest.

During the talk, The Miz was asked about their team splitting up and he said that he doesn’t see it happening for a long time:

“I don’t see myself and John Morrison splitting up for a very long time, if ever, I don’t see that happening. We’re too connected, we have too much chemistry and we still have more to go. John pushes me more than anybody else in WWE.

Right now, he is just absolutely incredible,” said The Miz, “He is on a tear, and I think if he’s not in the main event scene going for the WWE or Universal Championship in the next year I think this is something we’re missing in WWE.”

These comments from the former champion are interesting in light of his recent injury. While not many details about his condition are known yet, reports suggest he could miss up to 9 months of action if he ends up requiring surgery.

The Miz staying out of action for that long would force WWE to make a decision about John Morrison. It’s very likely that he will be moved to singles competition instead of being taken off TV.

The Miz Injured At WWE WrestleMania Backlash

The Miz not only apparently got eaten by zombies, but also suffered an injury while working his latest match inside of a WWE ring.

The former WWE Champion worked a zombie lumberjack match against Damien Priest at Sunday’s (May 16, 2021) WWE WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view event in Tampa, Florida at Yuengling Center on Peacock.

Dave Meltzer noted in today’s daily update on F4Wonline.com that Miz suffered a knee injury in the match. As of this writing, there are no other details on the injury such as the exact damage that was done to the knee nor how long he will be out of action.

The match came under heavy criticism from fans and even Chris Jericho mocked it. The reason that WWE had zombies at ringside for the match was to promote “Army of the Dead” starring former WWE Champion Dave Bautista on Netflix starting this Friday or you can check it out in theaters now.

Bautista did the narration for the opening video package of the show and WWE heavily promoted the film throughout the show. The former WWE star did respond to a fan noting that he didn’t book the match.

The Miz On His WWE Championship Reign Ending In Two Weeks

The Miz won the WWE championship once again after 10 years earlier this year when he cashed in his Money In The Bank contract on Drew McIntyre at the Elimination Chamber event.

However, his title reign didn’t last for very long and the former champion only held the belt for a couple of weeks before dropping the title to Bobby Lashley during the March 1 episode of Raw.

During his recent interview with Fox Sports, The Miz explained that he didn’t feel bad at the championship being taken off him so soon, The Awesome one says the short title reign was just as meaningful as a longer run.

WWE Champion is “The Guy”

“I didn’t want to be a one-trick pony,” said The Miz. “I didn’t want to have one title reign, I think as a WWE Superstar you always want to be that guy. No matter how long you have it. Whether it’s a month, a week, a day, an hour, a minute, it doesn’t matter.”

He continued, “If you win the WWE Championship, you are that guy for that particular amount of time” explained the Miz, “And it is your job to showcase the prestige and honor that everyone before you did.”

Apart from this, the former WWE champion also talked about his WrestleMania match with Bad Bunny and how people were not happy with Bad Bunny’s involvement at first.

The Miz explained that after seeing all the negativity online, he had decided to prove people wrong. The negativity was gone when they presented the full story leading up to their WrestleMania match.

John Cena Calls The Miz The ‘Hardest Worker’ He Knows

(Former?) WWE Superstar John Cena recently reacted to the WWE 24 documentary that was recently released featuring The Miz. Cena had huge praise for the ‘Awesome’ Superstar, taking to social media to say how he is the ‘hardest worker’ that he knows.

“WATCH THIS NOW” Cena began on Twitter, discussing the recently released WWE 24 documentary on The Miz. “@mikethemiz IS the definition of both passion and perseverance.”

“Underrated only in the eyes of ignorance” Cena continued. “THE hardest worker I know. An inspiration to me and proof that REAL success takes earning every inch. Awesome does NOT do you justice. #Respect.”

John Cena on The Miz

John Cena and The Miz famously headlined WrestleMania 27, with the WWE Championship on the line in the main event. Sadly, that match is regarded as one of the worst in ‘Mania main event history.

The Miz suffered from a concussion during the contest, and fans were waiting for The Rock to appear pretty much throughout. Both of these issues caused the in-ring action to be lacklustre and the tension of the Championship match to be rendered null and void.

The Rock would of course attack Cena, leading Miz to get the win in his first WrestleMania main event. It was announced the night after that The Rock and John Cena would main event WrestleMania 28 in Miami. The Miz would end up in a 12-man tag team match.

The Miz Shows Off His ‘WrestleMania Bod’ In Striking Before & After Photos

When it comes to all-around improvement in the wrestling business, there aren’t many who have changed more positively in recent years than The Miz. He’s a wrestler who still has many critics, but there is no denying the passion that the man brings to everything he does.

The once again reality TV star was often ridiculed and marginalized when he first entered the squared circle. However, over the years his work ethic and dedication have seen him grow into one of the better wrestlers on the WWE roster. He has demonstrated his ability and been able to build a brand that extends beyond the ring.

While The Miz might not have the cleanest skills or the widest-ranging arsenal of moves, but he consistently delivers, and has nailed the heel persona perfectly. He is without question of the better active superstars when given the mic and a chance to rant. His shoot style altercation with Daniel Bryan on Talking Smack back in 2016 remains one of the most believable and compelling promos in recent memory.

The Miz: Consistent, Reliable Workhorse

With his mic skills on point, his in-ring ability consistently improving there was only one thing left for the superstar, and that was to up his physique.

In a recent social media post, The Miz took the time to show off his new chiseled physique. The former WWE Champion reveals that he went from 220 pounds in January to 206 pounds this week. It wasn’t easy, but the results speak for themselves.

The ‘Awesome’ one has proven once again that he deserves not only to be where he is, but to be considered one of the best in the business right now.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CNp7UhXh_-j/

The Miz has held a total of twenty championship reigns in WWE. He was the first two-time grand slam champion in company history. The man is a draw who knows how to market himself.

With his new physique, you can expect to see him dominating in the ring. While he is already 40, there is a lot of life in the character yet, so expect to see more accolades attached to what is undoubtedly a hall of fame career.

The Miz Praises Bad Bunny’s WrestleMania Performance

Bad Bunny’s performance at WrestleMania 37 has drawn positive reviews from fans, wrestlers, and others in the industry. The Miz recently spoke to TMZ and praised the work his WrestleMania opponent did.

“Not only did he earn my respect, I think he earned the WWE Universe’s respect,” The Miz said regarding Bad Bunny. “I think he earned backstage’s respect. I think he earned everybody’s respect in what some are calling ‘The Best Celebrity Match at WrestleMania in History!'”

Bad Bunny will be focussing on his music again for at least the foreseeable future. Miz is hopeful to see him back in a WWE ring sometime soon, however.

“Ya never know when he’ll come back! I think he had a great experience, I think everyone had a great experience with him.”

“This guy has a hundred dates of music concerts that he has coming up. I imagine he wants some time off, too! But, look … what he did out there at WrestleMania opens the door anytime he wants to come back at WWE. Maybe I’ll get a round 2!”

Recently, it was reported that Bad Bunny reported to the WWE Performance Center months ago to prepare for the match. Damian Priest is also said to have wrestled the match with a bad back, possibly leading to Bad Bunny taking a larger role in it.

Backstage News On The Miz Vs Bad Bunny Being Announced As A Singles Match

WWE has announced that Grammy award-winning rapper Bad Bunny will be taking on former WWE champion The Miz in a singles match on night 1 of the upcoming WrestleMania 37 event.

This announcement was surprising to some as people were expecting to see a tag match involving John Morrison and Damien Priest.

PWinsider has now provided some update on the situation and latest report from the site reveals why the company chose to go with a singles match between The Miz and Bad Bunny instead of a tag team bout.

According to the site, both Morrison and Priest are currently dealing with minor injuries and the company has announced a one on one match as a precaution.

The officials didn’t want to announce a tag team match and then be forced to change the bout in case the stars are not cleared to return to the ring by the time of the event so they went with the announced bout.

Though there is no word yet on when or how both these stars suffered their injuries and how long they are expected to stay out of action.

Since their injuries are not very serious, it’s possible that both the stars will be cleared before the Show Of Shows. In the case they are cleared, the company is expected to add them to the announced bout, making it a tag team match.

Bobby Lashley Wins WWE Title On Raw

The Miz made unsuccessful title defense as WWE Champion on Monday’s episode of Raw against Bobby Lashley.

WWE kept delaying the time of the match as originally it was supposed to be at the top of the second hour, but Miz claimed he was sick and got it delayed another hour, but Miz ran away when the bell rang and Lashley won by count-out. Finally, the match with a few minutes left in the show after it was rescheduled took place with some lumberjacks around the ring.

Miz tried to get DQ’d by hitting Lashley with the title, but Lashley blocked it. Lashley got a hold of him and hit the flatliner before locking in the Hurt Lock for the win.

WWE set up this contest after the opening segment of last week’s Raw when Lashley told Miz that he demanded Miz to give him a title shot because he laid out McIntyre ahead of Miz cashing in the MITB briefcase.

An hour later, Miz said that he need more time, which led to Braun Strowman coming out and demanding a title shot. Lashley beat Strowman in a singles match last week. The match had a stipulation of if Strowman had won then he would’ve been added to this title match and turn it into a three-way.

After last week’s match, The Miz attempted to attack Lashley, who saw it and laid out the WWE Champion with a spinebuster and spear, standing strong to close out the show.

Backstage News On Plans For The Miz At WrestleMania 37

The Miz surprised everyone when he successfully cashed in his Money In The Bank contract and became the WWE Champion once again after 10 years.

However, it appears that he will not be keeping the belt for long and reports from the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggest that the A-Lister will be dropping the championship soon.

According to the reports, despite his championship win, The Miz is still ‘earmarked’ for a tag team match with John Morrison against Bad Bunny and Damian Priest at WrestleMania 37.

If these reports are true, then it will mean that the current champion will not be keeping the belt for very long and he will be dropping the title before the event.

The Miz cashed in his Money In The Bank contract on Drew McIntyre after the main event of the Elimination Chamber PPV. He managed to win the world title from the Scottish psychopath with some help from Bobby Lashley.

He is now scheduled to defend his title against Lashley in a one on one match at next week’s episode of Raw. In light of the latest reports, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he ends up losing the championship to the all mighty on Monday.

The Miz On When He Found Out About His MITB Cash In

The Miz made history last Sunday when he cashed in his Money In The Bank contract to become not only the WWE Champion but the first ever 2-time grand slam champion in the history of the company.

The A-Lister appeared on Renee Young’s Oral Sessions podcast after his big win where the new champion talked about a number of things.

The Miz also discussed his cash in during the interview, and he revealed that he only found out about the plans for his title win on the day of the Elimination Chamber pay per view itself:

“I didn’t… I had no idea! I went in there, and no one was talking to me. Like, all of the creative, I was like, ‘Is anyone going to talk to me?’

And then, I went in and figured out what was going on,” said The Miz, “And I was like, ‘Ok, this is it.’ You don’t believe it’s going to happen until you hear the 1-2-3.”

Drew McIntyre defended his WWE Championship in the main event of the Elimination Chamber PPV and he won the match by last eliminating AJ Styles.

However,  Bobby Lashley attacked McIntyre after the bout. The Miz, taking advantage of the situation, cashed in his guaranteed title opportunity and became the WWE champion once again after 10 years.

The Miz Says He Doubted He’d Be WWE Champion Again

The Miz became WWE Champion during Sunday’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract against Drew McIntyre and entered into his second reign as champion. He also became the only 2-time Grand Slam Champion in the company by capturing the title.

His first reign a decade ago in 2010 wasn’t as significant though, as he appeared merely as a secondary character in the main story between John Cena and The Rock. After losing the title to Cena in 2011, Miz was moved from the main event scene to the midcard, where he slowly climbed up the ranks and was even lauded as a champion who bought importance and prestige to the Intercontinental Championship which was treated as a somewhat unimportant title with throwaway reigns.

Entering into the main event scene again and becoming the top champion seemed like a long shot for The Miz again, with even him admitting that he himself wasn’t sure a successful Money in the Bank cash-in against a strong competitor like Drew McIntyre was possible. In fact, it wasn’t until the day of the Elimination Chamber event that he found out that he could be cashing in his briefcase.

Speaking to the Bleacher Report, The Miz said: “To be completely honest with you, I thought, ‘I’m never going to cash in until these two get rid of the titles because they’re such strong champions. I can’t remember the last time we had such strong champions in WWE. To be able to go in there, beat Drew McIntyre, who has been on fire as of late, and win my second WWE Championship… I wasn’t sure it was ever going to happen.

“Ten years ago, I was WWE champion, and I’ve had opportunities here and there but sometimes you just wait and you see and you push and you make sure you’re always evolving, always getting better, always doing the right things,” The Miz said regarding his rise.

The Miz expressed confidence on his comeback to the top spot, stating earlier that he does not plan to be just a transitional champion. He is set to face Bobby Lashley on next week’s Monday Night Raw as part of the deal he stuck with The Hurt Business. Miz expressed confidence and said that his second reign will be better than the first because this time he’s ready.

“It feels better because I feel that I’m ready and I’m worthy,” The Miz said. “When I first won the WWE Championship, I was still gaining my confidence in WWE. I was pretty new to the main event scene.

“As a matter of fact, I think that was my first main event,” he continued. “I wasn’t in the main event picture. To be able to work with Randy Orton and John Cena, who literally took me from his lower-level midcard Superstar into a main eventer… This is how good they are, that when you’re in the ring with them, you have to elevate yourself and get to that level. If you don’t, they’ll swallow you up and spit you out, and so many Superstars have done that,” The Miz concluded.

The Miz: “Do Not Plan On Being Transitional Champion”

The Miz has said that he does not intend to be just a transitional champion.

The WWE Champion said that the idea of people thinking he can’t be a stable long-lasting champion only motivates him more.

“I do not plan on being a transitional champion,” Miz told Sports Illustrated. “That idea only fuels my fire, and hearing it is nothing new. That idea only fuels my fire, and hearing it is nothing new. It makes me think back to when I cashed in the Money in the Bank contract and won the belt in 2010. People thought I would lose, but I didn’t. Instead, I won the WWE Championship.

When I won, I heard I was only going to be a transitional champion, but I went on to main-event WrestleMania and I won, as a bad guy, in the main event, which never happens. Ten years later, I heard the same thing: I’d never win the title. So this is another opportunity for me to prove people wrong, which is what I plan on doing.”

The Miz also talked about how grateful he is when Vince McMahon trusted him to become WWE Champion when no one else would. He trusted him enough to let him go up against John Cena at WrestleMania 27 and Miz says this helped him learn a lot from the top stars.

“Vince trusted me when no one else did,” Miz said. “He trusted me to go up against John Cena at WrestleMania 27 and to be in that story with the Rock, who had just come back to WWE. I got lost in that story. They were made men by then, and I still needed to make myself. Working live shows with Cena and Randy Orton, that taught me what it takes to be a main-eventer. And I’ve never stopped listening or learning,” The Miz said.

The Miz also recalled facing AJ Styles when The Phenomenal One came to the WWE. For Miz, AJ’s wrestling style was very different than he was used to, and that’s when he knew he needed he had to elevate his work.

Miz also thanked his wife Maryse for giving him confidence that brought him to a new level. The Awesome One declared that he is ready to be the face of WWE with his title and carry it with the prestige and honor it deserves.

WWE Raw: Championship Match Set For Next Week

The Miz will have to defend his newly won WWE Championship next week on Monday Night Raw already as he’s set to face Bobby Lashley in a title match.

On this weeks’s episode of Raw, The Miz, with John Morrison celebrated his successful Money in the Bank cash-in on Drew McIntyre at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event on Sunday. However, the celebrations soon came to a halt as Bobby Lashley and MVP of The Hurt Business interrupted and reminded The Miz of the deal that they struck backstage prior to the cash-in. It was revealed that according to the deal, Lashley would get a title shot against Miz if the former assisted the latter by weakening McIntyre.

Miz said that he needed some more time to make the decision and Lashley gave him an hour to decide. However, he still couldn’t reach a decision and begged for more time. This led to Braun Strowman and Shane McMahon coming out. Strowman was not happy that he was left out of the Elimination Chamber match.

Shane McMahon set a matchup between Strowman and Lashley, with the stipulation that if Strowman won, he would be added to the Miz vs. Lashley title match. Lashley would go on to win the match, however, by kicking out of Strowman’s running powerslam and hitting him with a spear for a successful pinfall victory. After the match, Lashley put Strowman in the Hurt Lock and beat down the Miz with a spear.

Bobby Lashley then held up the WWE Championship as the show ended.
