Miz Talks About WWE Unifying Titles, Tough Enough, Michael Cole

WWE Champion The Miz was recently interviewed by video game website IGN.com. Here are some highlights of what Miz said about:

Unifying The WWE Title & The World Heavyweight Title: ” I would love to take on the World Champion, Edge at WrestleMania and combine the titles. I don’t know what they’re going to do. You never know. That’s the best part about WWE. They’re all about shock value. You never know what’s going to happen next.”

Tough Enough Returning: “It’s great, right? I mean, I’m the first, official Tough Enough Champion. It’s nice to see that they’re bringing back that whole thing because that’s what I came from. That’s the show that got me my WWE contract. So, you never know. We might find another future WWE Champion.”

Michael Cole’s Major Push: “Love it! I think Michael Cole gets to be himself now. Before he was too worried about pleasing everybody else. Now he’s all about pleasing himself. Which is great. I think Michael Cole is doing a tremendous job. And it’s about time that an announcer actually puts me over and says I’m great for once rather than people telling me that I’m crap, I shouldn’t be here, I don’t belong yada yada yada. Because that’s all I used to hear every time I was on Smackdown. So it’s good to have someone behind me.”

JR Blog: Kong WWE Rumors, Miz vs. Morrison, Sheamus-Barrett

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

Miz vs. Morrison’s Match From Monday’s RAW:

“Great start to Raw with Miz vs. Morrison. These are two of the individuals that WWE is counting on to be big time players in the future. They both put forth great effort in the falls count anywhere match for the WWE Title. I enjoyed their hard work and the overall physicality of the contest. Both men likely want to be known not only as successful, main eventers, first and foremost, but also tough, physical wrestlers, as well. Each took positive steps forward on that goal.”

“Miz is establishing that he is a talented, charismatic WWE Champion who can be beaten on any given night. That combo has worked for ages.”

“Morrison can wow any discerning fan with his athleticism and his physicality is becoming more prominent in his matches and I like that trait with any wrestler.”

The Elevation Of Wade Barrett & Sheamus:

“Some of the exchanges between Wade Barrett and Sheamus were physical and both men showed intensity and a gear change. Both Barrett and Sheamus have definitive up sides and both fit into the same category with Morrison and Miz as men that WWE needs to get to the next level and to stay there. Again, this is no simple feat and the ascension is a process that takes varying amounts of time depending on the individual along with being at the right place at the right time with all the stars surrounding the process being aligned properly.”

Reports That Awesome Kong Has Signed With WWE:

“I don’t know if WWE has signed female star Awesome Kong or not but if they have then I think it is a smart hire. After meeting her at the Cauliflower Alley Club (CAC) function a year or so ago in Las Vegas, I wrote that I thought she would be a nice fit in WWE because Kong is so unique. If she does sign, I’d bet a case of BBQ sauce that her name changes. If the Kong rumor is true, and this is just my two cents, I hope that Kong NEVER wrestles a man in WWE.”

WrestleMania Plans For Cena, Punk, Orton, Miz, Barrett & More

As we’ve been reporting, WWE creative is currently planning out what the top matches will be for WrestleMania 27 in April. As of late last week, WWE had a tentative WrestleMania line-up that included WWE Champion The Miz defending against John Cena and Randy Orton vs. CM Punk. We’ve had also heard that the new John Cena vs. CM Punk feud would result in a match at WrestleMania, so the company is currently discussing a few scenarios.

WWE had a major scare this week with John Cena suffering a leg injury at Tuesday night’s live event from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. While he is in a lot of pain and his condition is being monitored on a day-to-day basis, there has been no definitive word yet on whether he’ll be out of action for any significant amount of time.

There is still talk of having Wade Barrett vs. The Undertaker at WrestleMania 27, if the Undertaker is healthy enough to return for a singles match. Based on what we saw on Monday’s RAW, it looks like Wade Barrett could be on his way out of Nexus, but there’s been no confirmation on his status. It’s possible he may end up on SmackDown. A babyface turn for Barrett has also been rumored, but that would likely take place after WrestleMania.

Miz Talks About JBL Hazing Him, Working With Daniel Bryan

WWE Champion The Miz was interviewed this week by Kevin Eck of the Baltimore Sun. Here are some highlights of what The Miz said about:

Reports That JBL Hazed Him Backstage When He First Joined WWE:

“It’s funny with JBL,” Miz said. “In front of all the boys back in the day he would always be making fun of me or saying [imitating JBL’s voice], ‘Miz, I look forward to your amazing work. You’re a gift from God.’ But whenever no one was around, he would come up to me and say, ‘You’re doing a good job.’

“He’d always give me a little pat on the back. Most people think he was really, really bad to me and this kind of stuff – and, granted, there were times – but there were also times when he sat me down and said, ‘Listen, you’re doing a good job. This is what you’re doing wrong. This is what you have to do to get to the next level.’ So he has helped me as well.”

Whether He’s Had His “Austin 3:16” Career Defining Moment Yet:

“I think there are defining moments in everything. If you asked me a year ago, I could find a defining moment. But as of right now my defining moment was Money in the Bank. It kind of set the tone that I’m the next main-eventer, I’m the next “future of this business,” and it set the tone for me winning the WWE championship, which then became the next defining moment in my life. Not many people get to say “I’m a WWE champion.” It’s pretty incredible just to hear those words coming out of my mouth. But as for what happens next, there are going to be so many defining moments in my career. My career is just getting started.”

His Time Working As Daniel Bryan’s NXT Coach:

“We were very cordial with each other, but you could tell on the inside that we were both trying to one-up one another because I thought I was better than him and he thought he was better than me,” said Miz. He also went on to say, “I thought I was better than him just because I’ve been in WWE for four years now and how long had he been in WWE? Zero time. He basically performed in front of 25 people at a bingo hall and was called the best in the world…”

No More Raw Guest Stars, Phoenix Comments On Being Sidelined

— After over a year and a half, the WWE Raw Guest Star concept has apparently come to an end. WWE.com has removed the Raw Guest Star section from its Raw section.

— In May, Beth Phoenix suffered a devastating ACL tear during a WWE Superstars match against Rosa Mendes. She subsequently dropped the Women’s Championship to Layla and sat on the sidelines for six months to recover. “The Glamazon” spoke to WWE.com regarding her road to recovery and revealed that she initially feared that she would not be able to return to the ring.

JR Blog: Lesnar Leaving UFC, Hardy Pleading Guilty, Punk-Nexus

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with another blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

Rumors Of Brock Lesnar Leaving UFC: “Lots of crazy rumors floating around the MMA message boards about Brock Lesnar these days. Some fans feel that Lesnar is looking to leave UFC and return to WWE. That decision would floor me. It doesn’t seem to make sense at this time for Lesnar to leave UFC as there is too much Octagon money on the table for Brock to walk away at this time. I just can’t see the athletic freak going back on the WWE road for any significant length of time especially with young children at home and Brock being most comfortable when he is in the Minnesota woods enjoying family life and hunting. Don’t get me wrong, as a fan I would embrace a Lesnar return to WWE and it ‘might’ happen on a sporadic basis some day but not any time soon.”

CM Punk Joining Nexus: “The CM Punk/Nexus affiliation is intriguing. More questions than answers which is good. There is strength in numbers and it certainly puts the ‘hero,’ John Cena, in an uphill struggle. Punk is excellent both in the ring and on the mic and I look forward to seeing how the Cena-Punk scenario plays out over time. If they don’t get it on until the Royal Rumble match, I wouldn’t be offended. Sounds like Cena-Punk could theoretically be a solid WM27 attraction. Time will tell.”

Jeff Hardy Pleading Guilty To Drug Charges: “An emailer asked me what I thought about former WWE star Jeff Hardy’s ‘plea agreement’ to a variety of charges filed against him in North Carolina. I know only what I occasionally read on line about this unfortunate matter but if a plea agreement can bring this issue to an end and Jeff can move on with his life then it might be a good idea. Those types of decisions are better made by lawyers and the individuals involved and not by folks, like me, who are on the outside looking in.”

Royal Rumble News: Rumored Title Matches & Rumble Winner

Following John Morrison’s win over Sheamus in the #1 Contender’s match at Sunday’s Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view, the main event of January’s Royal Rumble event is expected to be Morrison challenging The Miz for the WWE Championship.

Many within WWE saw his match against Sheamus at TLC as a star-making breakout performance. Some compared it to the TLC match that put the Hardy Boyz, Edge and Christian “on the map” as top-tier performers. Despite his impressive performance, it really does come down to how WWE management pushes him and it’s not a sure thing that he will be treated as a main eventer in the long term.

On Tuesday’s special live edition of SmackDown, we saw a continuation of the Edge vs. Kane feud, so it appears that will be the likely World Heavyweight title match at the Rumble.

WWE has yet to announce anything for the Rumble on January 30th. However, they have added a basic preview for the 30-Man Royal Rumble match on the company website.

Miz Talks About Meeting Miz Girl, Being WWE Champion & More

WWE Champion The Miz was interviewed by IGN.com this week to hype Saturday’s Tribute To The Troops special on NBC. Here are some highlights of what Miz said about:

What It’s Been Like Since Winning The WWE Championship & The Mainstream Media Attention He’s Received From The Accomplishment:

“I don’t think anyone expected it. I certainly didn’t expect it at all. Usually, when titles change there isn’t that much media, so I wasn’t expecting anything. But as soon as I got home, suddenly 50 people that I didn’t realize I knew, and didn’t know had my number, and didn’t know watched WWE, texted and called me. I had voice mails for days. And then all the outlets. Like MTV.com got a hold of it. They didn’t even say anything when I got signed to WWE. US Weekly, who never covers WWE, covered us.”

“TMZ asked me to host their show. I’m going on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. It just makes me so happy because that’s the goal that I want. I want people that normally don’t talk to us and normally don’t say anything to us to come in and say “You know, this kid has something. We want to talk to him. And he’s got a good story so we want to learn more.” And it legit is. It’s a real life story. It’s like a movie and I’m living it. It’s like a dream come true.”

How Much He’s Evolved As A Performer Since Coming To WWE:

“I am ever evolving. If you look at me today and you look back at me when I was 20 on The Real World, nine years ago, I was a completely different person. I am very different from who I was back then. I’ve lived and I’ve learned. As far as being on The Real World, I had so much fun doing it. How many times in your life do you get to live in a house with seven strangers you’ve never met. Oh, and you’re someone who also has never been outside of Ohio and you get to move to a melting pot like New York City and get overwhelmed by how big it all is. You just learn a lot by meeting different people who come from various backgrounds and cultures. I had never been exposed to that. It just made me want to absorb more and want more. So after I got done with The Real World I had to move to LA because I didn’t want to be in Cleveland anymore. Because Cleveland is small. I don’t want to say it’s all small-minded, but where I lived it was very much like that. You go to high school and then you go to college and then you have a family and there was this one way of doing things. I wanted more out of life, so I moved to LA and started my wrestling school. My parents did not want me to do it.”

What Was It Like Meeting “Miz Girl” Cayley On Monday’s Slammy RAW:

“[Laughs] Yes yes. The angry Miz girl! Aw, man that was arguably one of my favorite moments. That little girl literally made my WWE Championship win. When I got backstage, the only thing anyone could talk about was that little girl’s scowling face, being so mad at me. And as soon as I saw it I thought “that’s the exact fan reaction I wanted out of the crowd.” And sometimes you don’t get that. Sometimes fans see the camera and go “Oh, hey. I’m on camera.” She didn’t see it. You could see the passion that she had for Randy Orton and how mad she was that he lost. It made my day. I guess the dad actually called, because the next week, in my address, I talked about the fan reaction being one of shock and anger and I showed her picture again. So her dad called up and said that she was more than willing to come back if we ever needed her. So, of course, being WWE like we are, we totally leapt at he opportunity and took the reins.”

“And just going out there and getting on one knee…I mean, how do you talk to a little girl and then take something from a kid? You have to be so nice to them so that they trust you, and then you take it from them. And then they get really really mad. It was so great. And backstage, she was the shyest little girl. It was so cute to see her back there and everyone told me that when Randy came up to her she gave him a big hug and she was so shy and nervous that she couldn’t talk. And then to watch her go out there and start thanking her dad and her mom and her family. And then me, being the big bully that I am, taking the Slammy away from her. [laughs]”

Recap Of The Miz On NBC’s Jimmy Fallon Show (Video)

Miz told a story about a former Real World cast member calling him after he made it big in WWE and contradicting him for making his dream a reality.

JR Blog: Miz Hosting TMZ TV, Mysterio’s Popularity, Goldust

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

The Miz Hosting TMZ TV: “WWE Champ The Miz gets a shot on TMZ later today (Wednesday) which he will no doubt knock it out of the park. Miz was tremendous on the Food Network cooking show, ‘Dinner Impossible,’ that we did a year ago at Summer Slam. He stole that show with ease and will like do the same on TMZ TV later today. Miz is a work in progress and it should be encouraging for WWE fans of just how good Miz can become in time if he stays healthy and focused on becoming the best antagonist in the biz.”

Goldust’s Injury: “Sorry to hear of Goldust’s rotator cuff injury that will apparently require surgery. This is usually a 5-6 month recovery period. Don’t forget about Goldust’s biography that would make a good stocking stuffer and should be interesting reading. He’s had a helluva life for such a young man. Hate to see anyone hurt, especially someone who has worked so hard to become relevant again. Last time I saw Goldust he was in, without question, the best physical shape of his life. Some day Goldust will likely be a great coach/teacher of the biz.”

Rey Mysterio’s Popularity: “An emailer asked me why Rey Mysterio has become so popular while many of his fellow Lucha Libra stars did not become bigger in the USA. Firstly, Rey has ‘it’ and ‘it’ can’t be manufactured. Rey also throughly understands all the ins and outs of the biz after starting in it when he was 14 or 15 years old. Rey also understands that ‘less is more’ and that doing 2-3 spectacular maneuvers in a match or a sequence is always better than doing a half dozen or more of them in such quick fashion that the majority of the eye opening maneuvers can’t be processed or remembered minutes after they are completed.”

Diva Expected To Turn Heel, Creative Writes Plans For Top Stars

— Current creative plans call for Melina to turn heel and feud with Divas Champion Natalya. It’s expected to be a slow turn. The idea was first conceived a few weeks ago and it said that Melina garnered heat because she was negative about going bad.

Meanwhile, a renewed on-screen relationship with John Morrison which was recently teased on Monday Night Raw is considered a dead idea.

— Creative has devised long-term storyline plans for Randy Orton, The Miz, Sheamus, Edge, John Cena and The Nexus through February.

— The pre-sale code for the Jan. 31 Monday Night Raw taping at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island is ORTON. Tickets for the pre-sale are on sale now through Friday morning via Ticketmaster.com.

Lawler & Cole Pushing For Ross Return, WWE Pleased With Media

— It’s said to be no secret that Jim Ross wants to return to the announce booth. His appearance on Raw two weeks ago resulted in overwhelming sentiment that he should return, but his fate lies in the hands of Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn, who prefer youth—though Jerry Lawler is three years older than Ross.

Furthermore, Lawler and Cole have pushed for Ross to replace Matt Striker as the third man for pay-per-view broadcasts, whom they dislike. McMahon, however, feels the pay-per-view broadcast team should be limited to those who work television.

JR Blog: Miz Wins WWE Title, Cena’s RAW Promo, Pun

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

The Miz Winning the WWE Championship: “I’ve been touting Miz for months on this site as a future big time player and one that I felt several months ago would be in the main event mix at Wrestlemania in Atlanta. Looks like that may well happen now. As for Miz being WWE Champion and specifically for all the naysayers, I suggest that you allow this matter to evolve more than just a few hours before damning it. Antagonist champions who are physically beatable on any given night and who have talented albeit annoying verbal skills are a nice persona traits for a successful champion to have.”

John Cena’s RAW Promo: “John Cena arguably delivered his best ever promo Monday night on Raw as it felt naturally organic and truly reality based. The buzz on Cena’s ‘firing’ by Wade Barrett is a hot topic on this site and one that will likely be addressed in more detail next Monday on Raw on yet another three hour special on the USA Network.”

C.M. Punk Joins The RAW Announce Team: “Three man booths take time to develop a synergy and timing amongst the three talkers. Punk is a bright guy who is extremely talented in the ring because he worked so diligently to achieve becoming a main eventer and he should be able to accomplish the same thing at the announce table if he works at announcing the same way he worked at becoming an wrestler. It won’t happen over night but I wish CM Punk all the success in the world and enjoy his quick wit.”

VIDEO: The Miz Wins The WWE Championship On Raw

The Miz is the new WWE Champion after cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase and dethroning Randy Orton for the title.

Moments before The Miz cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase, Orton successfully defended the WWE Title against Wade Barrett after John Cena ran into the ring to prevent Barrett from scoring a three count on “The Viper.”

Prior to the main event, The Nexus jumped Orton and injured his knee. Miz then took advantage of Orton retaining despite the storyline injury by immediately cashing in his briefcase.

The near three minute long bout concluded with The Miz countering the RKO into the Skullcrushing Finale for the pinfall victory.

Check out this exclusive video of The Miz’ WWE title win from RAW:

Update On WWE’s Plans For The Miz & The MITB Briefcase

There has been much talk amongst creative regarding The Miz and the Money in the Bank briefcase he won at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

Commentators have been informed to not push his title too hard because when he ultimately cashes it, they want it to come as a surprise to fans.

One idea tossed around was for the The Miz to be the first Superstar to lose after cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase, but then to be quickly elevated with a huge follow-up victory.

It’s been noted that all of this doesn’t have to occur until WrestleMania, since the stipulation was that he had one year to cash it in and he won it in July.

Meanwhile, there has been discussion of holding a Money in the Bank Match at WrestleMania despite Money in the Bank being scheduled as stand-alone pay-per-view event in July.
