The Miz Discusses Not Getting Credit He Deserves, Underutilized WWE Stars

The Miz has expressed his feelings about not getting the credit he deserves for the accomplishments that he has achieved in the WWE. The former WWE Intercontinental Champion spoke with Complex to promote the SummerSlam pay-per-view event that takes place tonight (August 19, 2018) in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center on the WWE Network.

Credit He Deserves

“Go to Barclays [Center] today and look at the poster. Guess who’s not on it? [Points to himself.] This face! Daniel Bryan is on it, why isn’t The Miz? I don’t understand this. I don’t understand how I am not the face when I put butts in seats. I make people talk. When I talk, people listen. I get aggravated because no matter what I do, nobody ever gives me credit.”

Miz continued by stating that he learned the tools to become a WWE star while on the Real World TV series where he would later go to acting classes and studied the art of professional wrestling. He brought up how Daniel Bryan is the indie darling as everyone always says but he doesn’t need to brag about the indie life but rather he brags about his WWE life. He promised that Bryan would find out how big he is at SummerSlam.

Who’s Underutilized In WWE

The Miz also gave his opinion regarding who he thinks is not used properly in the WWE as he stated that whenever we see a new superstar come into WWE, people think they want to see more but it takes time to develop into a character as it took five years for him.

“Now, everyone wants to come in and say, ‘Well I was a superstar at NXT, so I should be a superstar here.; No, just because you were great in one place doesn’t mean you’re going to be the same caliber. You have to be able to adjust, you have to be able to evolve, you have to be able to withstand what it takes to be a WWE superstar.”

Miz continued to say that he looks at Zack Ryder as someone who WWE is not utilizing all of his talents because he tries hard and has the talent to become an upper tier talent. Thus, it makes him think that sometimes you just gotta wait for your opportunity, and once you have that opportunity don’t let it go.

Our staff has released their predictions for the SummerSlam show, which you can read here.

The Miz Posts Rare Photo From His Indy Days

The Miz has shared a rare photo from his days on the indy scene.

Before embarking on his professional wrestling career, Miz (real name Mike Mizanin) got his start as a reality TV star on MTV. He appeared on “The Real World” in 2001 and appeared on several seasons of the show’s spin-off, “Real World/Road Rules Challenge.”

In 2003 he began his pursuit of a career in professional wrestling. He trained and performed under the Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW) banner for a year. In 2004 WWE scooped The Miz up and signed him to a developmental deal. He has remained with the company ever since.

Currently on SmackDown Live, Miz is involved in a feud with former WWE World Champion Daniel Bryan. The pair will go on-on-one at SummerSlam later this month. Miz has been poking fun at Bryan’s indy background and urging him to return to the “bingo halls.”

He recently shared a rare picture of himself from his early indy days. Check it out here:

Titus O’Neil Is Writing A Book, MTV Star Teases Interest In WWE Career

Titus O’Neil Is Writing A Book

It appears as though WWE Superstar Titus O’Neil is writing a book. Before beginning his professional wrestling career, O’Neil was chasing a professional football career. He played high school football and earned a scholarship to do the same for The University Of Florida.

O’Neil played in the Arena Football League for four years. He played for teams such as the Utah Blaze, Tampa Bay Storm, Las Vegas Gladiators and Carolina Cobras. In 2009 WWE signed him to a developmental deal, thus sparking the beginning of his professional wrestling career.

A fan on Twitter asked O’Neil if he’d ever consider writing an autobiography about his journey. He revealed he’s actually in the process of doing that now and expects a Summer of 2019 release date:

MTV Star Teases Interest In WWE Career

Another MTV star could be considering a career in WWE. The professional wrestling juggernaut struck gold when they signed The Miz off his appearance in MTV’s Real World in 2004. He has gone on to main event WrestleMania, win the WWE Championship and capture both the Intercontinental and United States Titles several times.

Johnny Bananas, who is the most successful participant in the history of MTV’s The Challenge, could be looking to mimic The Miz’s transition from reality TV to professional wrestling. A fan Tweeted Bananas and mentioned he could have a great deal of success in WWE if given the opportunity.

Bananas responded by admitting the idea is a compelling one:

The Miz Calls Daniel Bryan’s WWE Return A Bust

The Miz thinks Daniel Bryan’s WWE return has been a “100 percent bust.”

Bryan once thought his in-ring career with WWE was over. After suffering several concussions and seizures throughout his career, he was medically suspended from ever competing for WWE again.

WWE retained Bryan on television by making him General Manager of SmackDown Live. Despite this, Bryan never gave up on his hopes of one day returning to the ring. That all finally paid off earlier this year.

Bryan was reinstated as an active WWE competitor just in time for WrestleMania 34. He passed several tests from WWE-recommended specialists that allowed him to be cleared. He teamed up with Shane McMahon to defeat Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 34.

Now that Bryan is back in the WWE fold, it allows him to seek vengeance upon The Miz. While being sidelined, Miz continuously tortured Bryan about his inability to wrestle anymore.

Miz vs. Bryan

When it was announced Bryan had been cleared to return to WWE action, fans knew a match with The Miz was inevitable. WWE seems to be heading in that direction right about now. Bryan has continuously challenged Miz to a match at SummerSlam later this month.

Miz, however, continues to deny Bryan of his challenge. The former Intercontinental Champion claims he’s above a match with Bryan at this point in his career. He points to the success of his film career and brand new reality TV show “Miz & Mrs.” on USA Network. Miz thinks he deserves a bigger match-up than Bryan at “The Biggest Party Of The Summer.”

The Miz Calls Daniel Bryan’s WWE Return A Bust

Miz and Maryse recently did an interview with E! News. WWE released a portion of the interview on their YouTube Channel. During the interview, The Miz calls Daniel Bryan’s WWE return a bust:

“Do you think Daniel Bryan’s return from injury has been amazing or has been a bust? A complete 100% bust. Everything that I say is the truth and nobody else seems to understand that and I don’t get it.”

The Miz Rejects Daniel Bryan’s Challenge For SummerSlam

According to the Miz, he will not face Daniel Bryan at this year’s SummerSlam. Bryan challenged Miz to a match at the biggest event of the summer but Miz told him this week on Smackdown that elite talent like him can’t just be goaded into a match.

Miz just recently responded conclusively that he will not face Bryan at SummerSlam. He posted the following to his Instagram:

https://www.instagram.com/p/BmEBUe0gwSC/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=embed_loading_state_control

The Miz vs Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam Not Happening

“I’ve heard his challenge, I’ve seen your questions, and my answer is no, no, no,” Miz said.

“I deserve better than a match with Daniel Bryan,” Miz continued. “So, the answer is no.”

Last week, Daniel Bryan also crashed the premiere party for Miz’s reality TV show “Miz and Mrs.” Bryan will likely have some response to the Miz next week on Smackdown.

The Miz On How Nobody Liked Him During His Early Days In WWE

The Miz is one of the few stars who proved that you can have a successful WWE career even when you don’t come from a pro wrestling background and you are not a favorite of the authorities.

During his recent interview with Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard section, the 8-time Intercontinental Champion talked about the early days of his WWE career among other things.

The Miz first discussed his new reality show Miz and Mrs. and how it’s a great opportunity to document the birth of his first child Monroe Sky.

Later in the interview, he also talked about his start in the company and claimed that despite the fact that no one liked him; he earned his spot by fighting:

“When I first got to WWE, No one liked me, no one wanted me there, whether it was the fans or the people backstage. I had to fight and fight and fight to earn my spot. Through hard work and dedication, I proved everyone wrong.”

Continuing on the topic, the former WWE Champion also recalled his early days as a part of MTV’s reality show The Real World and more. You can check out his full interview at this link.

What Happened After Extreme Rules, The Miz On Hulk Hogan’s Return

The Miz On Hulk Hogan’s Return

Hulk Hogan being reinstated into the WWE Hall Of Fame is probably the biggest news coming out of the wrestling world in the past few weeks or so.

However the Miz, who was taking part in the MLB celebrity softball game in Washington, DC was not aware of it, until Aaron Oster of the PressSlam podcast spoke to him.

After getting the news, The former Intercontinental Champion revealed that he was a fan of Hogan while growing up and his comments were posted by Aaron from his twitter account:

What Happened After Extreme Rules

For the surprise of many fans, The 30 Minute Iron Man Match between Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler ended up being the main event of Extreme Rules instead of the Roman Reigns vs Bobby Lashley bout.

The match where the Intercontinental Championship was on the line ended in a 4-4 Draw. After this, the Raw General Manager Kurt Angle announced sudden death overtime and Ziggler ended up retaining the title with help from Drew McIntyre.

After the show, the former Champion Rollins received a standing ovation from the crowd and people chanted ‘Thank You Rollins’ once the PPV went off air.

The former Intercontinental Champion recently spoke with the folks from The Wrap for an interview to promote his new USA Network reality show, Miz & Mrs. that is slated to premiere later this month after SmackDown Live goes off the air.

In this interview, The Miz broke down his plans as well as why he has been mentioning he and Maryse’s daughter, Monroe, on WWE television as of late. Obviously, the mass majority of promos on WWE TV is scripted but does have some influence from the WWE superstars including The Miz.

He stated that they wanted to weave their real lives into their WWE lives and what’s happening in their lives. Thus, they thought about what they can do that is the most annoying thing possible as a heel to make fans hate them.

The Miz continued, “Now, it’s truly wonderful to have a kid. It’s the best gift you could possibly get, but have you ever met those people who just talk about it all day long and it’s just annoying? That’s kind of what I started doing and I was like, ‘This will be fun. I’ll just start talking about it all the time. It’ll be endearing at first, but then it’ll get annoying.”

Daniel Bryan Comments On Possible WM 35 Match With The Miz

WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan was recently interviewed by Gorilla Position to talk about several professional wrestling topics. Bryan mainly discussed his rivalry with former WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz. Bryan explained why he and Miz work so well against each other:

“I would describe The Miz as somebody who doesn’t know when to shut his mouth, who doesn’t know when things get taken too far,” Bryan said. “I can be accused of the same thing as well if you look at that Talking [Smack] — I said some pretty derogatory things toward him. I was in the midst of this and I had two options, I was either gonna punch him in the face and honestly the reason he said those things is he knew I wanted to quit.

“He knew I wanted to leave and do the independents if they weren’t gonna clear me. I had said these things in interviews. He said ‘hey if you really believe these things then why don’t you go do it?’ The thing is I had asked for my release and they didn’t give it to me. There was this rage there and it was like, I’m gonna punch this guy in the face or I’m gonna walk off.”

Bryan said he is definitely up for a WrestleMania 35 match against The Miz. The only thing is he questions WWE’s ability to tell the story from now up until next April:

“I am definitely up for it. You ask me that question, I will answer with a question: do you trust WWE telling that story from now until WrestleMania 35? What in the last several years has shown to you that something like that is possible [in WWE]?” Bryan continued, “If something accidentally happens and they’ve got no control over it, it’s possible that it can happen.

“I think that would be awesome. I think it would be something the fans would be excited to see. Whether or not we can prolong because people wanna see me punch Miz in the face. I wanna punch Miz in the face. Whether we can prolong that on television for that period of time, I don’t know.”

As far as dream matches go, Bryan names a bout with Brock Lesnar as his ultimate goal, saying it’d be the ultimate David vs. Goliath story:

“If you’re talking one dream match it would be Brock Lesnar, WrestleMania 35 in Seattle Washington. Because that I think would be the ultimate David and Goliath underdog story in front of a hometown crowd that would be rabid for that. So that would be my dream match and even if it wasn’t WrestleMania, if it was just in Seattle it would be super cool.”

The Miz Explains Why He’ll Never Be A Locker Room Leader In The WWE

The Miz understands his role in the WWE

The former WWE Champion recently appeared on Bust Open Radio on Sirius XM to speak with Dave LaGreca and WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry about various topics.

During the interview, he was asked if he is a locker room leader. Here is what he had to say (transcript courtesy of Wrestling Inc).

“No. I don’t think I will ever be a locker room leader like The Undertaker or John Cena. That is just not my role. I am not someone that sits in the back watching the monitor and observing everyone. I have to get in the ring to feel exactly how you are. That is how I teach. I teach by example, instead of saying to them what they did wrong. I need to get in the ring with them and be able to feel what the are doing, so that is how I am able to teach.

I am not one of those people that people go to and people ask for my advice. I don’t know, it’s tough for me to give a person advice when I wasn’t in the ring with them. I don’t know what their mindset is. I don’t know why they did what they did and when they did it. I have to hear an audience, and feel an audience to know exactly why I am doing something.”

The Miz then shifted into how his confidence has grown over the years.

“It feels like now that I have been in WWE for over 12 years, I have developed this confidence where whatever situation I am in I know what to do. I don’t think I have had that type of confidence.

I think that it takes a lot of time; a lot of matches and a lot of years to develop that type of confidence where no matter what situation you are in, you know exactly what to do, get the crowd to wherever you want them and be so confident that even if you fail it is still a success.”

The Background

The Miz was drafted to the ECW brand in 2007 where he formed a partnership with John Morrison. Together, they won the WWE Tag Team Championship and World Tag Team Championship.

After being drafted to Raw in 2009, he won the United States Championship twice, tag team titles with John Cena, Damien Mizdow, and twice with Big Show, as well as the 2010 Raw Money in the Bank ladder match. He cashed in his briefcase to win the WWE Championship in November 2010 and went on to hold for six months. He is also the third longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history by combined days, behind only Don Muraco and Pedro Morales.

If you recall, the biggest match of The Miz’s career was when he defeated John Cena for the WWE Championship back at WrestleMania 27 in 2011 in the main event.

Lio Rush Joining 205 Live, Miz Wrestles Again After SmackDown

NXT Star Joining 205 Live

WWE announced during the latest episode of 205 Live that NXT Star Lio Rush will be making his main roster debut soon and joining the Cruiserweight Exclusive Show.

A vignette was aired announcing his impending arrival on 205 Live. In the video Rush talked about how he is planning the perfect attack on the brand and went on to claim that he is the best Cruiserweight in the World:

Lio Rush was signed by WWE back in July last year. He made his on screen debut for the company during the October 4rth episode of NXT and had been competing for the brand ever since.

Miz Wrestles Again After SmackDown

Unlike past several weeks, this week’s episode of SmackDown Live had only one dark main event, which took place after the show went off air.

The dark match saw Daniel Bryan teaming up with the current United States Champion Jeff Hardy to take on the team of the former Intercontinental Champion The Miz and Big Cass.

The match was won by the faces to send the crowd home happy. It’s worth mentioning here that this was the second match of the night for the Miz as he had competed in a 6 Men Tag match against the New Day earlier in the night.

The Miz Reveals His Big Plans Once WWE SmackDown Live Moves To Fox

The Miz has some big plans for when WWE moves SmackDown Live to Fox.

The former WWE Champion recently appeared on Bust Open Radio on Sirius XM to speak with Dave LaGreca and WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry about various topics.

During the interview, The Miz gave his take on WWE moving SmackDown Live to Fox in October of 2019.

“Let’s put it this way, I get traded from RAW to SmackDown and as soon as I get traded to SmackDown all of a sudden, FOX puts up a billion dollars,” Miz said (transcript courtesy of Wrestling Inc). “So I want to motivate and dedicate myself to where when we are ready to move from USA to FOX in 2019, I want to be the face of that show, of this show. And so that is my goal. I want to be in the middle of every poster. I want to have merch that literally everybody wants to buy, that everybody wants to see. Sometimes I look at my merch, well I haven’t had merch in literally a year and when I get merch I’m literally looking at it going, ‘I wouldn’t wear this.’ So I want merch that people look at and go, ‘I want to buy that, I want to wear that. That is something that is amazing and incredible.’

Miz continued by stating, “Like I want to basically be the superstar I believe I can be and I want my talents to be utilized in a way that I can succeed and I really am going to motivate myself and dedicate myself to be the face of the franchise when the FOX merger happens because moving to FOX, a network show, this show will be bigger. It’ll no longer the quote unquote the B show like everyone always says it is. It will be the A show and more people will watch it. So I’ll be interested to see what happens from a creative standpoint, from a marketing standpoint, [and] from a WWE superstar standpoint.”

What are your thoughts on The Miz’s comments? Sound off in the comment section below.

The Background

The biggest match of The Miz’s career was when defeated John Cena for the WWE Championship back at WrestleMania 27 in 2011 in the main event. This marked the only time that WWE had booked The Miz in the main event of the biggest event of the year for the sports entertainment company.

Since then, Miz has been booked as an upper mid card talent and primarily in the hunt for the Intercontinental Title.

It’s been well documented that WWE has agreed to make Fox the new home of the blue brand next year. NBC Universal declined to agree to the deal that WWE proposed to keep SmackDown Live on the USA Network.

It’s been reported that the TV network wants to keep WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night RAW, and are willing to pay them big money in order for that to happen.

The Miz On How Seth Rollins Is Doing As IC Champion

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz recently did an interview with SPORTbible to talk about several professional wrestling topics. Miz first talked about how fans make too big a deal out of WWE records:

“I feel like I have done so much in WWE that we just make up stuff now! It’s like, ‘I’ve had more combined days than every superstar besides one to be the Intercontinental champion!’ Is it cool? Sure. Do we make a bigger deal of it now, with social media? Absolutely.

“I wouldn’t even be able to tell you unless people tell me on the internet, ‘Hey, guess what – you have x amount of combined days until you are beating Pedro Morales for the longest-reigning Intercontinental champion, or, ‘You need one more reign to tie Chris Jericho!’ I think you guys care about it a little bit more than I do.”

Miz then offered his thoughts on how current Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins is doing as the strap’s holder:

“I think Seth is doing a fantastic job with the Intercontinental championship. He’s had it for maybe a month and has probably defended it more times than I have in the past year! He’s on a hot-streak right now.

“His song says ‘Burn it down!’ and every time he goes out there that’s exactly what he tries to do. He elevates superstars every time they are in the ring; I saw a match with Mojo Rawley and it was the best match I have ever seen Mojo in, in his entire career.

“That just shows you not only how good Mojo is, he was able to showcase, but how good Seth Rollins really is. I don’t think he can elevate it any more than I already have but I think he’ll keep it at that same level.”

The Miz Sends Motivational Speech to Champions League Finalists (Video), WrestleMania Being Considered for Free TV?

Former WWE and Intercontinental Champion The Miz recently sat down with the UK’s ‘Sporf’ online channel and he recorded a motivational speech for football team Liverpool ahead of their Champions League final against Real Madrid tonight.

You can check the clip via the tweet below:

https://twitter.com/Sporf/status/1000329317111533568

Wrestlingnewsco have reported that “at least 1 TV network is interested in bidding for WrestleMania rights” in the United States. This coincides with the news that WWE have recently signed a massive $1 Billion dollar deal with FOX to take the programme there in 2019.

The idea of taking WrestleMania to free television could potentially give the show a ‘Superbowl’ like feel, the biggest game in the NFL calendar makes more than $1 Billion in TV rights and even just a fraction of that potential sum would be leaps and bounds ahead of what WWE would generate via Network subscriptions and PPV providers. The interested party have not yet been revealed and it appears as though this scenario is nowhere near coming to fruition anytime soon.

Could you see WrestleMania heading to television? Let us know in the comments.

Premiere Date Officially Announced For “Miz & Mrs” TV Series

We now know when the reality show about the relationship of The Miz and Maryse will premiere.

As seen on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live in Worcester, MA at the DCU Center on the USA Network, Miz noted in the opening segment with The New Day that “Miz & Mrs.” would be premiering on the USA Network at 10 p.m. Eastern time on July 24th.

With such a date, it means that this show will go head-to-head with 205 Live right after SmackDown Live goes off the air.

The six-episode, half-hour series will feature the married pair, known for being larger than life both in and out of the ring as the Superstars, become parents for the first time.

The couple welcomed the birth of their daughter on March 27th.

“As the exclusive television home for WWE’s flagship programming, USA Network is excited to give this passionate fanbase even more of two of WWE’s most colorful Superstars, The Miz and Maryse,” said Heather Olander, SVP of Alternative Development and Production in a press release issued earlier this year. ““Miz & Mrs.” is an intimate, behind-the-scenes glimpse at this iconic couple as they face one of their most exciting challenges yet – becoming parents.”

“Miz & Mrs.” will undoubtedly be the most must-see show on television,” said Miz and Maryse. “We can’t wait to share this next chapter of our lives with our fans as we get ready to welcome our daughter into this world.”

The Miz Defends Roman Reigns Against Fan Criticism

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz was recently a guest on the Gorilla Position podcast to talk about several professional wrestling topics. During the appearance, The Miz discussed the fan criticism that Roman Reigns has been under in recent years. Interestingly enough, Miz defended his former foe against the naysayers.

Here’s what he had to say:

“He’s selling the most merch out of anybody. People are going to sit there and go ‘well, he should be here; he shouldn’t be doing this.’ Nobody knows. Nobody has a scientific formula to being the most ‘over’ superstar in all the WWE. The hardcore fans will sit there and go ‘oh well, you know, they’re shoving him down our throats.

“How dare you do that? Blah, blah, blah.’ But I guarantee there are kids out there that sit down and look at him — there are women out there that go ‘oh my God.’ Nobody likes the good ‘ol fashioned Superman, you know? Nobody wants that anymore. Everyone wants that blend of grey”

The Miz Takes Credit For WWE Getting Huge TV Deal, Reason Kairi Sane Was Backstage At RAW

– Former WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz decided to have some fun through the power of social media.

The big news thus far this week was the reports of WWE signing with Fox to bring SmackDown Live to Friday nights for the next five years for the total of a $1 billion price tag.

Miz, who was moved from WWE’s flagship show Monday Night RAW to SmackDown Live last month as part of the Superstar Shakeup, took to Twitter to take credit for the sports entertainment company getting the new huge TV deal.

– It was rumored that WWE Mae Young Classic Winner Kairi Sane was backstage at this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in Albany, NY at the Times Union Center NY on the USA Network. Those rumors turned out to be true.

It’s being reported that the real reason she was there was due to WWE needing her to film footage for upcoming episodes of the Edge & Christian show for WWE Network. She is still in NXT with no future plans of bringing her up to the main roster.

Daniel Bryan Reacts To The Miz’s Recent Shot At Him

It’s been well documented that there is history between The Miz and Daniel Bryan.

Now that Bryan has been cleared to return to in-ring action, it’s just a matter of time before the WWE books Miz and Bryan in a program on the blue brand. If you recall, Miz was Bryan’s coach on the very first season of the NXT reality series. They have wrestled some matches while on the main roster together.

The Miz spoke to Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard section last week. During that interview, he was asked about the potential feud with Bryan, which was when Miz started to make headlines.

“Daniel Bryan could have quit and went and did all his indies and did all the bingo hall things, but he wanted to fight for his dreams,” Miz said. “But that day, he didn’t fight for his dreams. He walked away like the coward he was calling me. Now you fast forward and everybody wants to see Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz, but the fact is Daniel Bryan isn’t at the caliber I am at. I am sick of people sitting there saying, ‘Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz.’ He doesn’t deserve to be in the ring with me. He’s not at the level that I am. I am showcasing top-level talent, and maybe in a year or maybe in two years, he’ll be at that level. But right now, he’s not at that level. He’s just going on the fame he had four years ago. Things changed. So when Daniel Bryan is ready, and I feel that he is ready, that’s when the match will happen. Until then, he’s not ready for me.”

Miz regularly appeared on Talking Smack while he was on the blue brand and had a famous segment with Bryan on the show. If you recall, this most memorable moment took place on the August 23rd, 2016 edition of Talking Smack. The Miz went off on Bryan after being called a coward for his wrestling style.

It was one of the most memorable promos of the past few years and fans were left wondering if it was scripted or not.

SPORTbible was able to speak with Bryan and get his response to The Miz’s comments.

“If you were to look at Miz’s matches since I’ve come back, he’s got a point,” Bryan admitted. “His match with [Seth] Rollins at Backlash, that was by far the best match on the pay-per-view. When I lost to Rusev, he wrestled Jeff Hardy – which was a fantastic match. The knock on Miz for years was that he was a great talker but so-so in the ring. This happened with [John] Cena too where people were like, ‘This guy can’t wrestle’ and while they are saying they can’t wrestle, they learn to wrestle and learn to be the best as far as in-ring stuff.”

“On the independents when I was with Ring of Honor, people thought I was the best wrestler in the world – fans would chant it and I think the fans would believe it because they want to believe that their guy is better than the WWE guys,” Bryan responded. “But never once have I considered myself the best – I look at AJ Styles and I look at Rollins right now. I say these matches with Miz were great but Rollins is in those matches – and I don’t know what is different but now he’s clicking on every level. It almost feels like it was for me in 2013 where he’s not the top guy on Raw but he’s starting to get those top guy reactions, more so than other people. You look at these people and think, ‘Ah, he’s better than me at this.’ So if Miz says I’m not on his level, I look at it like, ‘Maybe I’m not’ and that motivates me – how do I get on his level?”

The Miz Explains Why Daniel Bryan Is Not Ready To Face Him

While fans have been wanting to see a Daniel Bryan vs. the Miz feud for a long time now, it appears that the A-Lister is not very excited about a rivalry between him and the former SmackDown General Manager.

Miz recently had an interview with Sports Illustrated where he talked about the idea behind Red Nose Day, his highly praised Backlash match with the Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins and more.

When asked about possibly having a feud with Daniel, the newest SmackDown member explained why the former World Champion is not ready to face him yet:

“I am showcasing top-level talent, and maybe in a year or maybe in two years, he’ll be at that level. But right now, he’s not at that level. He’s just going on the fame he had four years ago. Things changed. So when Daniel Bryan is ready, and I feel that he is ready, that’s when the match will happen. Until then, he’s not ready for me.”

This explanation from the on-screen persona of the former IC Champion is another example why he is considered one of the best heels in the current roster.

It’s not confirmed when we’ll finally witness the culmination of this rivalry which has been going on for a couple of years now. But seeing Miz’s comments, it’s safe to say that their match, whenever it happens, will be an exploding one.

The Miz: ‘The WWE Championship Should Main Event Every PPV’

The Superstar Shake-Up sent The Miz to SmackDown Live without Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas, but he brought something far more important: a plan.

The 8-time Intercontinental Champion made it no secret that he wanted to elevate that title to its former glory. You’d be hard pressed to argue that he did anything but exactly that. He now plans to do the same for the WWE Championship. Despite being held by one of the top wrestlers in the world, the sport’s richest prize rarely headlines WWE pay-per-view events. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, The Miz declared,

“My goal is to make the WWE championship as relevant and prestigious as it should be.”

He was quick to clarify that he believes AJ Styles is doing a “terrific job” as WWE Champion. However, the WWE Championship match did not headline WrestleMania, Greatest Royal Rumble or Backlash. That fact bothers a lot of people – Miz included.

“That WWE championship should be in the main event of every single WWE pay per view,” said Miz. “It upsets me when I see that it is not.”

This past week on SmackDown Live, The Miz defeated United States Champion Jeff Hardy in a Money in the Bank qualifying match. He, along with Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, Rusev and 4 more opponents TBA, will battle at Money in the Bank (6/17) to earn the coveted MITB contract. The Miz sees this match as the perfect opportunity to advance his goal.

“My goal is to not only win the Money in the Bank contract, cash it in and become WWE champion,” he said. “I want to put that title back where it belongs: the main event.”

These comments from The Miz preview a full-feature article that’s set to publish at SI.com this Friday.

Do you think the perception of the WWE Championship is damaged by it now headlining pay-per-view events?
