Rey Mysterio Attacked & Titles On The Line After WWE Raw In Nashville

The February 10, edition of WWE Monday Night Raw saw the red brand take a huge step towards Elimination Chamber 2025, with two Superstars earning their spots in the PLE’s two chamber matches. Bayley defeated Lyra Valkyria to earn a spot in the Women’s Chamber while the main event of Raw saw Logan Paul defeat Rey Mysterio to punch his ticket to Toronto.

After Raw, the New Day attacked Mysterio, once again to a chorus of boos from the WWE Universe. Dragon Lee arrived to make the save and was able to hold off Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods for a period of time. Ultimately though, the numbers proved too much and Lee would also fall to the former Tag Team Champions.

The assault on Mysterio wasn’t the only notable moment after this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw went off the air. In a dark match after the show, Women’s Tag Team Champions Bianca Belair and Naomi put their titles on the line against Chelsea Green and Piper Niven. Despite the efforts of the challengers to make Green a double champion, Belair and Naomi retained their gold.

Belair has held the gold since WWE Bash In Berlin while Naomi has replaced Jade Cargill following the attack on the Storm in a parking lot. With another victory to their name, it may be a while before fans see the women’s tag team titles change hands.

Big E Breaks Silence On New Day Betrayal: I Don’t Recognize Them

On the December 2, episode of WWE Raw, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods turned on Big E, ending a friendship that fans had seen blossom over a decade. Since then, Kingston and Woods have had plenty to say about their former friend on TV and online, and now Big E himself has weighed in.

During the WWE Raw on Netflix Premiere Post-Show, Big E was asked for his take on his so-called ‘brothers.’

“These are not the two men that I stood side by side with for the last ten years. This version of those two, I don’t recognize.”

Big E doesn’t care for this “current direction” for Woods and Kingston, which he said is nothing more than “whining, complaining, b*tching, and moaning.” Nevertheless, the former WWE Champion is intrigued to see where the New Day goes from here.

“Clearly, we’ve moved in different directions. I’m excited or interested to see what they do with their careers because right now it’s just kind of spinning.”

Big E is unfortunately still not cleared to compete, though fans remain hopeful to see him back in the ring and get payback on his treacherous former allies. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Big E in this post-New Day chapter of his career.

WWE Superstars Reveal Their Wrestling Goals For 2025

2025 is upon us and for many, this is a time to set resolutions and goals for the new year. With 12 months ahead, the Superstars of WWE have revealed what goals they have in mind, both in and out of the ring, for the new year.

Liv Morgan, fresh off a stellar 2024, has set her sights high. The Judgment Day star plans to solidify her legacy as “the greatest Women’s World Champion of all time” and aims to capture the Women’s Tag Team Titles alongside Raquel Rodriguez. On a personal note, Morgan shared her intention to “flourish my perfect relationship with Daddy Dom.”

CM Punk is determined to prove why he’s known as the “Best in the World” by winning the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble and securing “all the titles.” Outside the ring, Punk promises to ensure The New Day continues using the janitor’s closet as their dressing room. He also declared his intent to shave Dominik Mysterio’s mustache.

Dominik Mysterio has a different kind of aspiration: to be less “misunderstood and hated.” According to Mysterio, he sees himself as a “cool guy,” and hopes 2025 will be the year fans start to agree.

For The New Day, 2025 represents a chance to reclaim their glory as champions and plan on holding gold once more now they’ve ditched Big E. The group hasn’t held tag titles since April 2021 and looks to end that drought in the coming months.

Kevin Owens‘ 2025 goal is to remind fans that he is the “true, rightful WWE Champion.” Owens plans to hold onto the title for the next decade and will have the chance to prove he’s worthy to be champion at next month’s Royal Rumble.

Six-Man-Tag Action Takes Place After Final WWE Raw On TV

The excitement didn’t end after this week’s Raw, as a thrilling six-man tag team street fight sent the Houston crowd home happy. This week’s episode marked the final Raw of the year and the last televised installment ahead of the much-anticipated move to Netflix on January 6.

After WWE Raw (December 30)

After the show went off the air, fans were treated to an electrifying street fight as The New Day joined forces with Santos Escobar to battle Rey Mysterio, Jey Uso, and LA Knight. The trio of fan-favorite babyfaces secured the victory, much to the delight of the energetic Houston audience.

The New Day has been at odds with Mysterio as of late, with Rey making clear to their pair that they are no longer welcome in the locker room. Last week, Mysterio offered an olive branch, saying an apology for betraying Big E would go a long way into the pair being welcomed back but Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods refused to share any remorse.

Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest from WWE Monday Night Raw, as the company prepares to embark on a new era for the red brand on Netflix.

Kofi Kingston’s Mother Issues Continue After WWE Raw Rejection

Kofi Kingston has shown no signs of making amends with his mother over the holidays after what transpired between the two on WWE Raw. During this week’s episode, Kingston mother disapproved of her son and Xavier Woods turning on Big E and walked out when Kofi requested a hug.

On X, Kingston made clear that the issues with his mother are far from over. The former WWE Champion uploaded photos of himself alongside his wife and children as well as his father, celebrating the Christmas season. While Kofi’s mother was present, she was scrubbed out of a photo, making it clear he no longer considers her a part of his family.

Kingston’s issues with his mother are just the latest example of people turning on the New Day given what transpired with Big E. On Raw, Kingston and Woods attempted to align with Dominik Mysterio, a figure notorious for his own betrayal of his father, Rey Mysterio. Despite admitting his disdain for Big E, Dominik criticized The New Day, claiming their actions went too far even for him.

Kofi Kingston Lashes Out At Fans Over Mom’s Rejection On WWE Raw

Rey Mysterio also met with the pair, and offered them a place back in the WWE locker room if they apologized for what they’d done. However, Kingston and Woods dismissed the idea, prompting Rey to warn them that “New Day Sucks” chants is something the pair should get used to hearing.

Kofi Kingston Lashes Out At Fans Over Mom’s Rejection On WWE Raw

Kofi Kingston has blamed the fans after his own mother rejected his attempt at a hug during this week’s WWE Raw from Boston’s TD Garden. During the show, Kingston and Xavier Woods faced heavy boos as they attempted to justify their betrayal of Big E earlier this month during the ten-year celebration of The New Day’s legacy in WWE.

Kingston noticed his mother at ringside and publicly criticized the crowd for their hostile reaction, particularly in front of his family. However, when the former WWE Champion sought a hug, his mother rebuked him and walked away, leaving Kingston visibly stunned.

Kingston took to X to express his frustration. Rather than reflect on his actions, he doubled down on blaming the fans for the night’s events, declaring that he would “never forgive” them for the incident.

The family drama was only part of The New Day’s turbulent night. Later, Kingston and Woods attempted to align with Dominik Mysterio, a figure notorious for his own betrayal of his father, Rey Mysterio. Despite admitting his disdain for Big E, Dominik criticized The New Day, claiming their actions went too far even for him.

The pair also ran into Rey Mysterio, who last week kicked The New Day out of the locker room. Rey extended an olive branch, suggesting that a sincere apology could help restore their standing among their peers. However, Kingston and Woods dismissed the idea, prompting Rey to warn them that “New Day Sucks” chants might be their new reality.

Kofi Kingston Teases What’s Next for The New Day After Split From Big E

The New Day’s split during the December 2, 2024, episode of WWE Raw shocked fans, and marked the end of one of wrestling’s most popular factions as it was known for years. The ten-year celebration of the group saw Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods betray Big E, claiming they wanted nothing to do with him and claimed he’d never be cleared to wrestle.

During an appearance on The Battleground Podcast, Kofi addressed the aftermath of the split while refusing to disclose the group’s future plans.

“None of those details are ones I’m willing to share with you, you know what I’m saying? Every Monday night—find out.”

Every interview since Raw that Kingston has been a part of, he’s been asked about the breakup, a fact Kingston called a “good thing.” While Kofi avoided specifics, the former WWE World Champion expressed excitement about what lies ahead for the group.

“[Our future is] littered with uncertainty—in the best way possible. I think the opportunities for us are going to start ringing in.”

While Kofi’s comments keep fans guessing, one thing is certain: The New Day is ready to make an impact, now as heels. Stay tuned to SEScoops to see if the teased opportunities do indeed ‘ring in’ for Kingston and Woods, now that they’ve left Big E behind.

Triple H on New Day Split: “It’s Why We Do What We Do”

WWE CCO Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque couldn’t have been happier with the New Day’s split on Raw as it highlighted the emotional investment from fans. Speaking at WWE’s recent media event with Netflix. Levesque said he was “so happy for those guys” and addressed the raw emotion behind the segment.

“It’s those moments. It’s why we do what we do. Rock says it all the time, it’s that electricity, that connection with the people. There’s no greater feeling than that.”

The segment saw Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods turn on Big E, declaring that they wanted nothing to do with their now-former ally. The emotional segment instantly went viral, with The New Day and Big E both trending shortly after the segment aired on Monday.

Wrestling World Reacts As The New Day Betrays Big E On WWE Raw

It wasn’t just online where fans shared their shock over what happened. During the segment, WWE’s camera crew cut to the crowd several times, including a viral shot of a distraught fan in the crowd.

“We couldn’t have comically asked for a better shot of somebody selling that storyline for us.”

Kingston and Woods have now been listed as heels on WWE’s internal roster, PW Insider has reported. With emotions among fans still running high, fans are eager to see what’s next from Kingston and Woods, and whether Big E, who has been out of action since March 2022, will be able to get payback on the two men he’s considered brothers for the past decade.

Wrestling World Reacts As The New Day Betrays Big E On WWE Raw

During the December 2, 2024, edition of WWE Raw, The New Day as fans knew it came to an end, with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods betraying Big E. The duo argued that if Big E cared about them, he would have been back already from his broken neck injury. Woods claimed that Big E will never be medically cleared and continued to berate his ‘brother’ alongside Kofi Kingston.

This heartwrenching scene instantly went viral on social media, with several wrestlers sharing their thoughts on the matter. Michin, whose sister Kris is dating Big E, is ready to jump Woods and Kingston with her sister after what was said.

Kris Yim also shared her anger over what happened. During the segment, Woods claimed that Big E didn’t care about the New Day, but was focusing on his new projects, new desk job, and his new girlfriend.

Kris also had some choice words for Woods with a nod to his time as the 2021 King of the Ring.

The Final Testament’s Karrion Kross on the other hand, has been waiting for this heel turn for a very long time.

Shane ‘Hurricane’ Helms, who now works behind the scenes in WWE, shared his own experience with dealing with a broken neck after the segment aired.

The impact of this heel turn hasn’t just been felt in WWE. AEW’s Anthony Bowens wanted to see how everyone’s days were going, but now realizes it wasn’t the right time to ask.

And Pretty Deadly’s Kit Wilson couldn’t help but take a sense of pleasure in seeing what happened to Big E this week.

Now, The New Day as fans knew it has ended, leaving questions as to what the future for all three Superstars look like. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Woods, Kingston, and Big E after the shocking betrayal on Raw.

Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods Turn On Big E During Anniversary Segment

Monday’s WWE Raw took fans on an emotional rollercoaster as Raw GM Adam Pearce welcomed Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods to the ring. The segment, filled with props and nostalgic moments, celebrated a decade of The New Day’s success.

Woods expressed gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support over the years, while Kofi reflected on their incredible journey, emphasizing how they couldn’t have achieved their success without the WWE Universe. But the mood shifted as Woods began to hint at unresolved tensions, assuring the fans that their love and appreciation weren’t to blame for what was coming next.

Before they could continue, Big E made his surprise return, receiving a thunderous ovation. He thanked the fans for their support during his recovery, but his tone grew serious as he addressed the discord between Kofi and Woods.

Big E reminded his teammates of their humble beginnings, recalling how their group was born out of desperation—when Kofi considered retirement and he and Woods were on the verge of being released. Big E recounted their unbreakable bond, from comforting him during his neck injury to supporting each other through life’s toughest moments.

With heartfelt words, Big E revealed his plans to serve as their manager until he is medically cleared to return to the ring. However, his declaration was met with skepticism and frustration from his longtime partners.

Woods questioned Big E’s timing, accusing him of abandoning them during their struggles. Kofi joined in, pointing out that other wrestlers like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, and Edge returned after similar injuries, while Big E seemingly chose new opportunities over reuniting with them.

Big E defended his absence, reminding them of the severity of his neck injury, but his words fell on deaf ears. Woods and Kofi expressed their anger and disappointment, with Woods calling Big E a burden and Kofi accusing him of prioritizing himself over the team.

The segment ended on a somber note as Big E sought reconciliation, asking for a hug. Kofi refused, and Big E walked away, leaving the ring. In his absence, Woods and Kofi embraced, vowing to stick together despite the cracks in their friendship.

This emotionally charged reunion left fans wondering if The New Day can ever truly mend their bond or if this marks the end of their storied partnership.

The New Day: Inside Their Decade of Greatness in WWE

The New Day stands as WWE’s longest-reigning tag team champions, a remarkable achievement that only scratches the surface of their revolutionary impact on professional wrestling. What began as a struggling three-man team in 2014 evolved into one of wrestling’s most successful factions, with Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E transforming themselves from audience punching bags into record-breaking champions and cultural phenomena.

Their decade-long journey represents one of wrestling’s most compelling reinvention stories. After facing brutal rejection from fans during their initial run as positive-minded babyfaces, The New Day made a pivotal decision that would alter their trajectory forever: they embraced the negativity and transformed it into their greatest strength.

The group’s initial struggles in late 2014 quickly gave way to innovation when they turned heel in April 2015. Fans’ mocking chants of “New Day Sucks” became part of their identity, and within months, they captured their first WWE Tag Team Championship from Tyson Kidd and Cesaro at Extreme Rules. This victory marked the beginning of an unprecedented run of success.

Their mastery of entertainment reached new heights during their second championship reign, which began at SummerSlam 2015. The 483-day reign set a WWE record and introduced iconic elements like Francesca the trombone and Booty-O’s cereal, transforming what could have been simple comedy props into memorable pieces of wrestling history.

The faction’s influence extended beyond tag team competition. In 2019, Kofi Kingston’s WWE Championship victory at WrestleMania 35 marked a historic moment, while 2021 saw Big E claim his own WWE Championship and Xavier Woods win the King of the Ring tournament. These individual achievements demonstrated the group’s ability to succeed both collectively and separately.

Despite facing challenges and brand splits threatening their unity, The New Day’s bond has remained unbreakable. However, tragedy struck in March 2022 when Big E suffered a career-threatening broken neck during a match on SmackDown. The horrific injury occurred when a belly-to-belly suplex went wrong, fracturing his C1 and C6 vertebrae. While Big E has maintained his characteristically positive outlook throughout his recovery, his in-ring future remains uncertain, marking one of the darkest moments in the group’s decade-long journey.

Big E Remains Hopeful He Will Wrestle Again

Their resilience continues to show through recent storylines, with Kingston and Woods engaging in a compelling program with The Final Testament, proving their ability to remain relevant and evolve after a decade of competition.

The numbers tell an impressive story: 12 WWE-branded tag team championships and numerous individual accolades. However, The New Day’s true legacy lies in their ability to consistently reinvent themselves while maintaining their core identity. From embracing fan negativity to pioneering new forms of wrestling entertainment, they’ve created a blueprint for longevity in modern professional wrestling.

Here’s to 10 more years of The New Day.

Xavier Woods Was Warned To Stay Away From Kofi Kingston in WWE

The New Day’s decade of dominance in WWE may never have happened had Xavier Woods followed backstage advice to avoid Kofi Kingston. Today marks ten years since the New Day’s first match with WWE which saw them win a six-man-tag on SmackDown.

On WWE’s YouTube channel, Woods, Kofi, and Big E reflected on their time together and how The New Day got started. Despite becoming one of the most popular groups, Woods shared that he was warned to keep his distance from Kofi Kingston.

“My entire WWE career, I’d been told to stay away from Kofi. Not because he’s bad, but because we’re very similar.

“in wrestling, you’ve got to carve out your own spot and they say, ‘If Kofi’s doing this and we automatically see you and imagine that you’re kinda a secondary Kofi, that’s not going to be good for you.’ And so I always stayed away from him.”

Woods shared that he doesn’t see himself and Kofi as similar and that it was a choice by he and Big E to bring Kingston into the New Day. The decision clearly worked as the group has become a staple of WWE TV, with Kingston and Big E both holding the WWE Championship.

A ten-year celebration of The New Day will take place on Raw, though comes amid growing tensions between Kingston and Woods. The pair have been unable to get on the same page for months now, leaving fans to speculate that tensions will boil over in a matter of days.

Fans are hopeful that Big E, who remains out of action due to his neck injury, will be able to smooth things over during the coming celebration. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on The New Day and whether the group can get back on the same page, or if the damage to the friendship between Kofi and Woods proves to be irreparable.

Xavier Woods And Kofi Kingston Trade Personal Shots In Intense Segment Ahead of New Day Anniversary

Tensions have reached an all-time high between New Day teammates Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston before the anniversary of the group’s in-ring debut.

The duo fought The Alpha Academy on the November 25 Raw. Kingston was in the ring to begin the action at the start, but Woods tagged himself in.

Otis imminently levelled both the New Day stars and he then took out Kingston with The Caterpillar. Tozawa tagged in and delivered a senton to Woods for the win.

Woods was very frustrated with the loss and he started chewing out Kingston after the match. The two continued arguing all the way to the back.

Their relationship reached an all-time low as both stars started taking personal shots at each other. Woods claimed that Kofi only got the world title opportunity because of him and that he ‘pissed it all away’ in 6 seconds in the loss against Brock Lesnar.

Kingston wasn’t behind in the war of words. He said Xavier wasn’t good enough to be a world champion like him and Big E. He reminded the 38-year-old that it was Woods who extended the offer to form a group and not the other way around.

This segment comes before the announced 10-year anniversary celebration for the 12-time Tag Team Champions which WWE has set for the December 2 episode of Raw. The tag team made their official in-ring debut on November 28, 2014.

The storyline seems to be building toward the TV return of Big E. The big question is what role the former NXT Champion will play when he finally returns to the company.

New Day 10-Year Anniversary Set for Dec. 2 WWE Raw

WWE will go all out to celebrate ten years of The New Day during the December 2, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw from the Winds Arena in Everett, WA. The show will feature a live tribute to the trio of Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods, who are WWE’s longest-running continuous stable.

In addition to the live show, fans will be able to reminisce on 10 years of The New Day with exclusive content available across WWE platforms (from Advanced Television)

  • Exclusive Sit-Down Interview: Hear directly via YouTube from Kofi, Xavier, and Big E as they reflect on stories from their legendary experience.

WWE RAW Schedule: Upcoming Dates and Venues

The trio’s in-ring debut as a group came on the November 28, 2014, episode of SmackDown, where they defeated Curtis Axel, Heath Slater, and Titus O’Neil. Since then, the group have seen massive success as a tag team, including a 483-day reign as Tag Team Champions. Kingston and Big E have both won the WWE Championship while Woods won the King of the Ring crown in 2021.

The New Day has shown signs of dissension this year, and with Big E still out of action, it remains to be seen what kind of tribute episode is in store for the popular faction. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on The New Day and whether Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods can finally get back on the same page.

The New Day’s Secret To A Decade Of WWE Tag Team Dominance

For nearly a decade, The New Day has been one of the most beloved and enduring teams in all of professional wrestling. From hosting WrestleMania 33 (2017) to their very own Booty O’s cereal brand, the group has done it all. What is the secret to their longevity?

Speaking to the New York Post, Kofi Kingston said that the group has stayed strong since 2014 because their friendship is real.

“a lot of tag teams get thrown together… All of us, we really strive to push our brothers, to lift our brothers up. That’s what The New Day is all about. It’s all about brotherhood. And we really believe that to our core.”

In addition to their accolades as a trio and in tag team combinations, each New Day member has achieved success independently. Kofi and Big E each won the WWE Championship (in 2019 and 2021, respectively). While Xavier Woods has yet to hold singles gold, he won King of the Ring in 2021, a concept Woods himself advocated to return.

Kingston acknowledged that he and Woods haven’t exactly been seeing eye-to-eye as of late, but said such issues are ‘typical’ with sibling relationships, as he considers the New Day to be a brotherhood.

Latest On Big E

Since March 2022, the New Day has been down a member, as Big E has been out of action with a broken neck. Kingston explained that Big E literally came within an inch of his life, as even the slightest of changes could’ve made his situation so much worse.

“If his neck had broken one way, a degree, he would have had a stroke. If he would have broken it a degree, the other way, he would have been paralyzed a degree.”

It has been “motivating and inspiring” to see Big E get to where he is mentally, as the powerhouse has routinely displayed the New Day’s signature optimism since the unfortunate accident. Kingston even said that its easy to forget Big E was ever injured in the first place, such is the positivity of his fellow ex-WWE Champion.

The Odyssey Jones Exit

Earlier this year, WWE attempted to bring Odyssey Jones into the fold, seemingly as a Big E replacement, though that didn’t work out. Jones was removed over domestic violence allegations, an act that left Kingston and Xavier Woods having to adapt.

“Once Odyssey was out of the mix, we just had to figure out a way to pivot and keep the story going and keep on moving forward, because, as they say, the show must go on.”

WWE has a special New Day episode of Raw planned to celebrate the group’s 10 years, in spite of the issues between Kingston and Woods on TV.

Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on The New Day as they prepare to mark a decade of dominance in WWE’s tag team division.

The New Day Hated Their Debut Gear

The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E) recently reunited for a segment where they revealed that they were not a fan of their attire which they donned during their debut in 2014.

On WWE’s official Instagram page, Big E, Xavier Woods, and Kofi Kingston recalled one of their old entrances. The popular trio has donned several iconic outfits over the years but they hated their original ring gear, which was light blue in color, having The New Day logo design pattern.

Big E said that all three members had a major dislike for their original ring gear, and it was the only outfit that was not designed by their long-time costume designer and friend, Jonathan Davenport. He said:

“This was our original gear, we don’t care for it, we do not hold up very well. This was our only set of gear that was not designed by the myth, the legend, Jonathan Davenport, our dear dear friend.”

Kofi Kingston said that it was an “awful set of gear”, while Xavier Woods agreed with them. The New Day member added:

“This is true. This is strategic, right? We did this on purpose. It was a very easy choice. Well, we had to pick between one and two things to either put it in the garbage or in the trash.”

The New Day made their debut back in 2014. The faction has won WWE Tag Team title several times and they are regarded as one of the greatest tag teams in the company. However, things haven’t been quite amicable between them. Big E is currently sidelined for years since suffering a career-threatening neck injury.

On the other hand, tension has been building between Kingston and Woods for weeks but they are still teaming. There also have been rumors about their split. Amid the speculation, WWE Raw GM Adam Pearce recently announced that there will be a special edition of WWE Raw dedicated to The New Day for their 10-year anniversary since their debut.

WWE to Celebrate 10 Years of The New Day with Special Raw Episode

A future episode of Monday Night Raw will be dedicated to The New Day, despite the ongoing tensions prominent in the faction. In a WWE Raw Exclusive, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce told Kofi Kingston that the upcoming show will celebrate ten years of The New Day.

“This year, ten years as New Day. It’s time to celebrate, man. You guys are one of the most decorated tag teams in WWE history. Because of that, if it’s cool with guys, I actually wanted to dedicate a special episode of Raw to celebrating you. An entire episode, if it’s cool with you guys.”

Kingston said it was a great idea, but admitted that he and Xavier Woods are going through a rough patch right now. Nevertheless, the former WWE Champion remained confident that everything would be alright when the anniversary comes around.

It was in November 2014 that WWE began airing vignettes for Kingston, Woods, and Big E, which is when they officially debuted their ‘The New Day’ moniker. The trio had their in-ring debut as a group during the November 28, 2014, episode of SmackDown, where they defeated Curtis Axel, Heath Slater, and Titus O’Neil. If Pearce plans to host the New-Day dedicated show close to the anniversary, the options are either Monday, November 25, or Monday, December 2.

Kofi Kingston Reflects On New Day’s Promo Battle With The Rock

Kofi Kingston was a big fan of The Rock growing up and so getting to have a promo battle with The Great One was like a dream come true for him.

The New Day star recently had an interview with DraftKings. He discussed things such as his WWE title reign, his feud with Randy Orton and more.

During the interview he was asked about the best insult he has received on the mic. Kingston recalled the time the trio went toe to toe with The Rock and said that it was a really cool moment for them:

“We actually got to go toe to toe with the Rock. For me getting insulted by The Rock was really cool because in college before I went to bed every night, I would look at my Rock poster. I would jump and do a jumping elbow into my dormitory bed and pull my sheets up. That’s how I went to bed.

We brought our A game he brought his A game and he’s insulting us. We had these unicorn horns on our heads and they light up. He said that they were llama penises. You get a Rock promo cut on you, as a kid who grew up watching the Rock cut these Rock promos on other people. I’m like ‘Wait now it’s happening to me. Ooh I should be mad but this is really cool.'”

Don’t Take Yourself Too Seriously

Kofi Kingston was also inquired about any notable backstage interaction with The People’s Champion. The former champion recalled the advice he received from the Rock that he understood later in his career:

“We had done some media together. I remember like being backstage I just asked him. I said ‘Hey you have any advice or whatever’ and he’s like ‘yeah just don’t take yourself too seriously’ He said ‘Don’t worry about like oh you gotta go out there and look strong.’ At the time I had no idea what he was talking about.

I think a lot of people want to be the big tough guy all the time to the point where you’re like ‘Oh well I can’t have someone say something about me and look stupid out there because oh I’m too tough’ versus ‘Hey let this person say something to me so that I can say something to them so that the crowd and the people can be entertained’

We’re all trying to work together to tell a story. So I didn’t really understand that. Then you fast forward to the New Day and here we are again going out as grown men twerking and shaking our hips and gyrating and wearing these like crazy flamboyant colors.”

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have recently been involved in a rivalry with Karrion Kross. They are currently not booked for the SummerSlam PPV.

Xavier Woods’ 10-Year Streak Ends With 7/22 WWE RAW Tag Team Match

A decade-long record held by Xavier Woods was shattered on the latest episode of Raw when the former King of the Ring was in six-man action. During the July 22, show, Woods teamed with Akira Tozawa and Otis but came up short against The Final Testament.

This was Woods’ first tag-team match in over a decade in which the former King of the Ring did not team with at least one member of the New Day. The last instance of this came during the July 1, 2014, taping of WWE Main Event where Woods and R-Truth lost to Erick Rowan and Luke Harper.

The Future of the New Day

In recent weeks, The Final Testament has sought to split Woods from Kofi Kingston, an act that’d end the New Day as we know it in the process. Karrion Kross told Woods in May that “there’s always time left on the table” for him to join and leave the New Day behind. On a recent edition of the Getting Over podcast, Big E said that the faction is “at a crossroads” and that it’s an “interesting time” for the faction as a split continues to be teased.

Kofi Kingston said last year that the faction will never break up, though that’s exactly what happened in 2021 when Big E was drafted to Raw without Kofi and Woods. It was reported in March 2023 that Vince McMahon had several pitches that’d see the group split but the three members were adamantly against any on-screen fractures.

The Prizefighter once again wore a shirt based that referred to how many WrestleManias he’s competed at, which declared that the show was KO-Mania 8. Given that the show was in Philadelphia, it was fitting that Owens wore ECW-themed trunks for the match.

Owens didn’t just represent ECW with his ring attire. The Prizefighter’s entrance also served as a nod to the extreme promotion that went under in 2001.

Bayley walked into her Women’s Championship match with IYO SKY with an Egyptian-themed attire and entrance. As Corey Graves explained on commentary, Rosicrucian Park in Bayley’s native San Jose hosts an Egyptian museum.

Current Champion in WWE NXT Not Medically Cleared to Compete

It may be some time before fans see the New Day defend their WWE NXT Tag Team Championships as Xavier Woods is reportedly injured.

Woods, alongside Kofi Kingston, won the titles at WWE NXT Deadline, dethroning Pretty Deadly and ending their reign at 97 days.

With their victory, the New Day becomes the third team to capture the WWE Tag Team triple-crown, after The Revival in 2019 and the Street Profits in 2020.

Injured

Since winning the titles, the New Day has had just two matches: a title defense on the December 14, 2022 episode of NXT, and a six-person tag-team match at the December 27, WWE live event.

PW Insider reports that Woods is “banged up” and “not yet 100% cleared,” which is why New Day hasn’t been seen more inside the ring.

Details of his injury remain unclear, but he is not expected to miss much more time in the ring.

The expectation within WWE is that the UpUpDownDown host should be good to go by this month’s Royal Rumble, if not sooner.

While he has not been wrestling, Woods has continued to appear at WWE events, and was in Kofi’s corner for a house show in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Rumble

If the backstage talk is right, Woods will be healed in time for the Rumble, and would likely be a member of the Men’s Royal Rumble match.

The Men’s match is coming together, with Kingston, Ricochet, and Santos Escobar coming from SmackDown.

On last night’s Raw, it was confirmed that Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, and WWE United States Champion Austin Theory will also be in the Men’s Rumble match.

Sasha Banks, Naomi, New Day & Jimmy Uso Attend ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Premiere

Sasha Banks and Naomi have not appeared in WWE since the May 16th edition of RAW.

They were the Women’s Tag Team Champions at the time but creative called for them to enter singles programs ahead of the Hell in a Cell PLE. Sasha and Naomi were scheduled to compete against each other in a Six-Pack Challenge but that never happened.

The Women’s Tag Team Champions walked into former EVP of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis’ desk, left the titles behind, and walked out of the arena. There have been rumors of their return to the company but nothing has come to fruition yet.

The former Women’s Tag Team Champions recently walked the runway at a fashion show in NYC with Bayley in attendance.

Sasha, Naomi, Jimmy Uso, and New Day Attend Movie Premiere Today In Los Angeles

Sasha Banks, Naomi, Jimmy Uso, Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods attended Wednesday’s premiere for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ today in Los Angeles. The crew arrived together and danced on the purple carpet.

The stars walked the purple carpet during the premiere for the Marvel Studios film. Xavier Woods and Naomi posted photos from the event on social media.

Former WWE Champion Big E posted a slow-motion video of the New Day walking the purple carpet. Big E has been out of action since March after suffering a neck injury. He is scheduled to be reevaluated next March to see if he can return to the squared circle.

Several fans have posted videos and photos of the stars at tonight’s movie premiere and you can check them out below.

The New Day Reunites for ‘Action Human’ Comedy Sketch

Legendary wrestling faction The New Day recently reunited, but it wasn’t for WWE. Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E got together to film a comedy sketch for G4’s Attack of the Show Youtube channel.

The beloved trio teamed up with comedians Will Neff and Case Blackwell for a parody television commercial promoting Action Human, a fully opposable life-sized version of wrestling action figures. The sketch involved two friends are playing with wrestling action figures, but they were upset because the “barely-opposable” action figures don’t properly capture the intensity of a real wrestling match. A fireball erupts and the New Day emerge to save the day. The Superstars transformed one of the guys into a “Fully Opposable Action Human” and well, hilarity ensues.

Xavier Woods has been an on-air host for the G4 television network ever since the gaming channel was relaunched in 2020.

Big E has been off WWE television since he suffered a broken neck on the March 11, 2022 edition of SmackDown on FOX. He provided an update on his condition last month. At the time, he was 5 months removed from breaking his neck and said he was feeling great. He still doesn’t know if he will be able to wrestle again, but he’s living a normal life with virtually no pain from in the incident, which is nothing short of a miracle.

Former WWE Employee: ‘Meetings There Are Straight Out Of A Dumb Comedy’

Dan Ryckert, who worked for WWE, on podcasts and other projects recently left the company. Since his departure, he has been vocal about several things in regard to the backstage environment.

Ryckert spoke about a specific corporate meeting that he took part in while with WWE during an interview with MinnMax including the start of The New Day podcast.

He recalled what the meetings were like, which reminded him of a dumb comedy movie.

“But it’s more like running from meeting to meeting and kinda dealing with more of the corporate crap. These meetings and stuff, they feel like they’re straight out of a dumb comedy or something where like nobody could ever be this way. I remember for instance, so we had this business partner when I first started, before the pandemic. They would fly in these experts, these podcast marketing experts from Beverly Hills. It was always a big deal where it’s like, okay, we’re gonna have a three or four hour meeting with this company. I got pulled into this room and there’s this whole PowerPoint thing and they’re trying to think of ways to do a podcast with the New Day. The New Day, as a wrestling fan and a friend of those guys, the answer is let them talk because they are hilarious. Don’t screw with the rapport, we don’t have to overproduce this thing and put all of these segments [together] and stuff.

Ryckert continued on to detail some of the ideas that the partnering company had like using words such as “epic.” He noted that the people pitched working with Color Run for a podcast, which would’ve seen New Day doing a podcast while running in traffic. There was another pitch where New Day would play video games while doing a podcast and call it ‘Ya Boys Are Twitchin?’

Ryckert did recently admit how WWE has a culture of fear behind the scenes.

What Vince McMahon Originally Had In Mind For The New Day

The New Day has been the most successful faction in WWE for years but the original pitch wasn’t exactly hitting home with the group’s members.

Together, Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods have had great success in WWE. They have won tag team gold 11 times. In singles action, Big E and Kofi have both had WWE Championship reigns, while Woods won the 2021 King of the Ring.

The initial pitch for The New Day didn’t exactly give E, Kofi, or Woods the chills but they knew they could knock it out of the part.

Vince McMahon’s Initial Plan For The New Day

Kofi Kingston was a guest on Out of Character with Ryan Satin. During his appearance, Kofi said that Vince McMahon had serious gospel vibes with The New Day when he first pitched the idea (h/t 411Mania.com).

“When we were given the gimmick of positivity preaching preachers, I’ll never forget it. We had been going back and forth with Vince about what we wanted to be. We wanted to be some guys who were not pleased with our positions in the company.

“He’s like, ‘Okay, well, how about you guys be preachers and you guys come out here and there’s gospel music.’ We’re just sitting there and we know that the people are going to reject this idea because nobody comes to WWE to go to church.

“But this is what he wanted us to do. We told him, ‘Whatever you give us, we’ll make it succeed because of our chemistry. We believe in it.’ He’s like, ‘Alright, I’m going to put that to the test. You guys are going be positivity preaching preachers. Go get it over.’

“We’re just like, alright, this is our chance, and we supported each other. There were a lot of people who took a big dump on our aspirations. They didn’t believe in us. They made fun of us when we were just trying to get over.

“But now you fast forward, and those same people have come back around, and they admitted that they were wrong. Not that we do it to prove people wrong, but we proved them wrong.”

Kofi certainly isn’t playing revisionist history. He’s absolutely right when he says people panned The New Day gimmick at first and didn’t think it was going to work. The faction quickly turned things around and has become one of the hottest acts in WWE.

Unfortunately, The New Day is currently down a member. On the March 11 episode of SmackDown, Big E suffered a broken neck after landing awkwardly off an overhead belly-to-belly suplex from Ridge Holland.

E recently gave an update revealing that his recovery has hit a snag due to his C1 not healing the way he had hoped. He’s keeping his neck in a brace for the next month or so in an attempt to avoid fusion surgery.
