The Rock Owns Moviegoer Who Takes Issue With Jumanji Plot Point

Here’s a lesson – if you’re addressing The Rock, drop the attitude. If you talk trash to The Rock, prepare to get owned.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is The Rock’s latest runaway hit. It’s been the #1 box office draw since it premiered 5 weeks ago and has already grossed over $315 million worldwide. Minor spoilers ahead, per the official synopsis from Sony:

“In a brand new Jumanji adventure, four high school kids discover an old video game console and are drawn into the game’s jungle setting, literally becoming the adult avatars they chose. What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji – you must survive it.

To beat the game and return to the real world, they’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, discover what Alan Parrish left 20 years ago, and change the way they think about themselves – or they’ll be stuck in the game forever, to be played by others without break.”

I saw Jumanji and really enjoyed it. Critics and moviegoers agree, with Rotten Tomatoes scoring it 76% and 90%, respectively. In the movie, the characters inside the video game are given 3 “lives” and must complete the mission or risk being trapped in the game forever. When your character loses a life, you re-spawn in the same place.

One moviegoer took issue with an aspect of the re-spawning and got a response from The Rock himself within minutes:

Update On Kevin Owens’ Injury, The Rock Reacts To Triple H & Stephanie McMahon On Jimmy Fallon

– Former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens hasn’t wrestled since January 9th’s episode of SmackDown Live when he and Sami Zayn suffered a loss to the team of Shinsuke Nakamura, WWE Champion AJ Styles, and Randy Orton in a handicap match. PWInsider is reporting that Owens is dealing with a back injury and he also missed this past weekend’s SmackDown live events. He is still expected to team with Sami Zayn against AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.

– Late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon is set to appear at tonight’s RAW 25 after losing a Lip Sync Battle to Stephanie McMahon and Triple H last week. Fallon teamed up with The New Day and sung Boyz II Men’s “Motownphilly.” McMahon and HHH performed Disney’s Moana’s “How Far I’ll Go.” The Rock was one of the stars in “Moana” and reacted to McMahon and HHH’s performance of the song on Twitter:

The Rock & Hulk Hogan’s Status For RAW 25

The 25th Anniversary special of Monday Night RAW is a week away and WWE is trying to make it as big as possible. Names such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, X-Pac, and many more have already been named. Two big names that haven’t been named yet, however, are former WWE Champions The Rock and Hulk Hogan.

PWInsider is reporting that if The Rock’s schedule is open then he will be at the show. Oftentimes, however, it’s hard for The Rock to leave the set of a movie or television to go and make an appearance for WWE. As for Hulk Hogan it’s still up in the air what kind of relationship he has with the company after his sex tape and leaked racial comments became public.

It has been rumored for a long time that the company wants to bring Hogan back but WWE officials are concerned with how sponsors would react to the move. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more…..

What The Rock Told Paige At WrestleMania 30

As we’ve previously noted, WWE Superstar Paige was recently a guest on former ring announcer Lilian Garcia’s podcast, Chasing Glory, to talk about a number of topics. During the interview, Paige actually shared a story about meeting The Rock backstage at WrestleMania 30 and how he broke the news to her that she’d be debuting on the main roster the following night on RAW.

Paige did, in fact, debut the following night and defeated AJ Lee for the Divas Championship:

“I remember being at WrestleMania the day before I debuted. I got told by Dwayne to come in and was talking to him. And he…spilled the beans to me saying ‘You’re going to debut tomorrow’ and I was like ‘what?’”

But that wasn’t the only bombshell “The Great One” dropped on Paige:

“And he was like ‘I got some more news for you’. And I was like ‘What more could you possibly tell me?’”

The Rock then revealed his plans to her to spin her family story into a major motion picture. Now Fighting With My Family is et to release in 2018 with actors such as Vince Vaughn, Lena Headey, and Nick Frost:

“He took that idea and turned it into this global phenomenon. It blows my mind.”

The Rock’s Presidential Run Update

The Rock is serious about making a Presidential run. According to his recent comments, however, running for election in 2020 does not look to be a possibility anymore.

The Rock recently took part in an interview with Variety, where the topic of his potential Presidential run came up.

Rock Comments on Presidential Run on 2024

On “the people” urging him to run:

“It was never something that I trumpeted and beat my chest and ever said publicly, ‘This is what I’m going to do,’ but as that story picked up, Americans picked it up and there was this sentiment of, ‘We’re not joking, and we would really love the idea if you would run,’”

On not being able to run in 2020:

“Realistically, as we go into 2018, when you look at my slate as we’re developing and shooting into 2019 and 2020, the slate goes deep into 2021, so it feels like the realistic consideration would be 2024.”

On his motivations to run:

“In that, I knew I had to listen to the people and really, really think about it,” he continued. “That’s where I’m at right now — I’m well aware politics is not the business I’m in, so the best thing I can do is continuing to listen and learn as much as I can. I’m continuing to watch our presidency and watch how every new development is handled. I continue to watch our leaders in government, and like all Americans, I continue to be hopeful that our leaders exhibit poise, perspective and the ability to bring our country together during these tough times — which I don’t feel our presidency is currently doing — so that’s where I’m at.”

“I care deeply about our country, and I care deeply about our people – especially now,” he says. “Decency matters and being a decent human being matters, and character matters, and leadership matters.”

“My thoughts are the age-old adage that is WWE: Never say never,” Cena said.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Getting Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Arguably pro wrestling’s biggest ever mainstream attraction is now being immortalised on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

That’s right, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will be receiving his star next week (December 13th) in a ceremony as part of the ‘motion pictures’ category. Walk of Fame ceremonies producer Ana Martinez made the following statement regarding the WWE superstar:

“Not only does Dwayne have a great personality and talent, but he also does a great amount of philanthropic work which is part of the criteria for earning an immortal spot on the Walk of Fame. We envision scores of photos being taken at his star by his fans.”

The Rock and Vince McMahon are the only two WWE stars currently on the famous ‘Walk,’ do you see anyone joining them in the coming years? John Cena possibly?

Hulk Hogan Teases WrestleMania Rematch With The Rock

Earlier this weekend WWE Hall Of Famer Hulk Hogan teased a WrestleMania rematch with The Rock on Twitter. The pair initially went head-to-head in one of the featured matches of WrestleMania 18 back in March of 2002, which “The Great One” came out of with the win.

The Rock told a story earlier this week about catching one of Hulk Hogan’s headbands as a kid back in the 80s at an event in Madison Square Garden. Hogan responded to the Tweet by saying he’d give the former WWE Champ another headband if he gives him his WrestleMania rematch:

The Rock Responds To Vince McMahon On Twitter, NXT To Air On USA Network?

– We noted yesterday that The Rock made the cover of Entertainment Weekly with his “Dwanta Claus” alter ego. Vince McMahon took to Twitter to congratulate his former WWE Champion on the accomplishment, and “The Great One” responded with a great little anecdote about meeting “The Chairman Of The Board” at age 11 before being offered a contract at 25:

– USA Network is advertising a one-hour show entitled “WWE NXT” on Wednesday, December 13th at 7:00 PM ET. Here’s the description:

“WWE’s next generation of superstars battle to make an impact on their rise to fame.”

It’s very possible that the lineup could simply be a mistake, however, “WWE Week” has been a tradition on USA Network and NXT could be a part of that this year. The listing was pickup up by Comcast, Verizon, and DirecTV:

– Speaking of Christmas, WWE announced that Titus O’Neil will be hosting his 8th annual Joy of Giving event on Saturday, December 23rd in Tampa, Florida. All benefits will go to those who are struggling financially during the holiday season, and the free event will take place at Raymond James Stadium:

Titus O’Neil to join Tampa’s Joy of Giving

Titus O’Neil will help bring joy to the Tampa, Fla., area this holiday season when he hosts the eighth annual Joy of Giving on Saturday, Dec. 23. Those who are struggling financially this holiday season are invited to the free event at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to receive Christmas toys while enjoying food, games, entertainment and more.

“I’m excited to see how this day not only impacts the families involved, but also demonstrates the power and love that reside in our Tampa Bay community,” said O’Neil.

The Joy of Giving aims to create an experience that provides lasting impact for all attendees beyond the immediate happiness associated with receiving a Christmas present. Connection to vital community resources and information will be available to uplift and enrich the lives of those in the Tampa Bay area.

“Joy of Giving always proves to be a fantastic addition to our very charitable community,” said Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn. “At a time when so many are less fortunate, we look to organizations like this one to spread holiday cheer to Tampa’s youth. I look forward to seeing this city come together to give back this holiday season.”

In addition to lead sponsor Elder Automotive Group, a multitude of corporations, public servants, first responders, nonprofits and local churches have joined together to celebrate the power of how caring for one another can unite a community.

Each child who registers is given an opportunity to choose a new, unwrapped gift for the holidays. For many, it is the only gift they will receive.

The Rock Explains Why He Once Shed ‘Nerd Tears’ Over Hulk Hogan

When The Rock was about 11-12 years old in the 80s, Hulkamania was very much running wild throughout the world of professional wrestling. During a recent interview to promote his new movie in Hawaii, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, “The Great One” shared an awesome story about his Hulkamania experience. Rock said he caught one of Hulk Hogan’s headbands during a live event and joked about crying ‘nerd tears’ out of joy. Here’s the story:

“When Hulk Hogan came into the WWF in 1983 or ’84, I can’t remember … And this was when getting ready to blow up. Vince McMahon said, ‘You’re going to be my guy, I’m giving you the ball. I’m giving you the baton, and I want you to go.’ Hulkamania running wild, right?

“Right there, right when he came in … he was wrestling at Madison Square Garden, and he had a white headband that said ‘HULKSTER.’ Do you remember that? He came in the ring, and I was at Madison Square Garden. I was sitting there front row with my mom, I was watching the matches. And he came out. And I’ll never forget, he was wrestling Paul Orndorff, Mr. Wonderful. And he takes the thing off, and he throws it to the crowd. And I caught it. And it was a big nerd-out moment. … It was amazing.

“My dad was wrestling on the card that night … I was so happy that I caught this thing from Hulk Hogan. I go in the back of the dressing room when the matches were over. I go to my dad and I said, ‘Look. I caught Hulk Hogan’s headband.’ And he was like, ‘Oh, that’s cool. That’s awesome,’ you know”
‘Take it home.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay.’

“But then Hulk Hogan was right over there taking off his wrestling boots, getting ready to shower. And I’m like damn, I want to go over and just say hello to him. So I went over to him, and I was like, ‘Mr. Hogan … I caught your headband.’ And he goes, ‘Oh man! That was my last one! I didn’t want to throw it out! Thank you so much! … Thanks man!’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, okay. You’re welcome, Hulk.’ …

“He did [take it back], but he didn’t know how bad I wanted it. But here’s how cool Hulk Hogan was. Two or three weeks later, he had thousands [of headbands] made. Went to my dad, he goes, ‘Hey, I signed this for your son. He gave me my only one back, and I needed that one, as one to make a thousand other copies. Give this back. Give this to him.’

“And I have one of those. Isn’t that the coolest thing. So Hogan, if you’re watching, I appreciate it, brother. I still have it.”

The Rock On What He Wants His Legacy To Be

The Rock is on the cover of Ebony‘s December 2017 edition and he also took part in the featured interview for the Magazine. Below are some of the highlights from his interview:

Avoiding stereotypes of Hollywood:

“It was the desire to make it. I never wanted to be evicted again. Making it means I could buy my mom and dad, God willing, a house because they had never lived in a house before. When you are trying to make it and you are trying to figure life out —work/life balances and what you want to become—a lot of times, we can fall into a mindset of, this was done before me like this; therefore, this is the model I have to follow. The same thing happened to me when I came to Hollywood. At that time, there was no blueprint for someone like me. There was no blueprint for a half-Black, half-Samoan pro wrestler who was a big boy. At that time, the guys who had the careers I wanted to have were Tom Cruise, George Clooney and Will Smith. They were the biggest stars on the planet. I was told, “You have to be in this box.” That box would be, “You can’t talk about wrestling anymore. Let’s transition from the moniker ‘The Rock’ to Dwayne Johnson. Let’s not go to the gym as much, even though you love it and it’s your daily anchor. Let’s make sure you are not in tank tops when doing photo shoots.”

How he would define power:

“When I was a kid, I used to measure power by money. In my head, I always interpreted power as money. If I had money then, I could become powerful… These days, as I’ve gotten to my fourth level of life and as I experience life, divorce, death, ups and downs, I define power in two ways: the bond I have with my family and the love I have with my family. I’ve achieved this greater level of love, of what I call to powerfully love somebody. I heard that years ago, and I didn’t know what it meant. My interpretation of what it means to powerfully love somebody is to be able to love somebody with restriction, to not be fearful of being vulnerable, to accept people with everything that they are. Their good. Their bad. Their warts. Everything they come with. Accept it. Embrace it. That’s that real powerful loving place. I didn’t know what that meant until a little later in life, but I understand what that means now. The other way I would define power is by influence. You don’t have to be famous. You don’t have to be rich. Just have the ability to influence someone in a positive way.”

What he wants his legacy to be:

“I think when it’s all said and done, the dust is settled and you are looking at the sunset as you’re riding off, [it’s] in the spirit of, I was able to use my influence in a positive way and make a real impact and help people make a real impact. That’s the responsibility I feel I have.”

The Rock On His WWE Debut, Unseen Footage Of Raw Invasion

-Yesterday was the 21st anniversary of the Rock’s WWE debut. Sports Illustrated posted an article on the occasion and The Great One responded to their story via the following tweet, revealing what was his first goal and when he achieved it:

https://twitter.com/sinow/status/931575936323026944

– WWE posted a new slow motion video of this week’s Raw Invasion angle on their Youtube channel dubbed as ‘unseen footage of Raw’s raid of SmackDown Live’. The video as seen below features some alternate angles of the segment:

The Rock’s Daughter Wants To Pursue Wrestling Career

16-year-old Simone Garcia Johnson will be serving as Hollywood Reporter’s “Golden Globes Ambassador” for the next year. Despite the inroads her father can provide for her in Hollywood, that is not where the teenager’s passion is.

“As much as I love and admire the film industry, I don’t see myself pursuing a career in it at the moment. I plan to study business in college — NYU, hopefully — and after graduating, I want to pursue wrestling and eventually transition into talent management.” She told the Hollywood Reporter.

So basically she wants to be her Dad in wrestling and then be her Dad on the show “Ballers”.

Johnson/Fatu/Anoa’ii Family Lineage

If Simone is able to make her dream a reality, she would be a 4th generation wrestler. The Rock, Rocky Johnson and Peter Maivia are the generations ahead of her.

The Maivia’s are considered “blood brothers” of the Anoai’i family. Technically they do not share the same DNA, however. Under the blood brother relation, she would be considered cousins of the Usos and Samu and Manu.

The Rock Suffering From Injury?, AJ Styles Sends Message To Brock Lesnar

– After competing at last night’s WWE Live Event from Milan, WWE Champion AJ Styles posted a video on his Instagram account, sending a message to Brock Lesnar. In the video, as seen below, AJ said that he is going to ‘slingshot himself’ into victory in his match against the Beast:

“Now I am the WWE Champion once again, and now I have the opportunity at Survivor Series to face Brock Lesnar, I know what you’re thinking, ‘AJ, you can’t beat him! He’s a beast! He’s a giant!’ Well, you know there was this one guy, who had a slingshot and a stone. And I have a ring that I’m going to slingshot myself into victory, when I take it to Brock Lesnar! And that’s how the story will end.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/BbVR_y6g81C/

– It appears that the Rock is dealing with a shoulder injury. A fan recently challenged him for an arm wrestling match on Twitter but the Great One responded by saying that he has torn labrum in his shoulder:

https://twitter.com/JTas1900/status/929145106929561600?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

Currently, it’s not known when or where the Rock suffered this injury but he recently finished filming for SkyScraper and it’s likely that he suffered the damage during the shooting of it.

The Rock Names 3 WWE Superstars He Wants To Work With

WWE legend and Hollywood megastar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is keeping the door open for another match. During a recent Q&A session (video below), The Rock was asked which three current WWE Superstars he’d like to face if he does get back in the ring.

The Rock named Triple H, Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns.

All 3 men have been rumored as possible WrestleMania opponents for The Rock in recent years. Preliminary plans were eventually scrapped due to scheduling conflicts and film producers being hesitant to him wrestling again, as the risk of injury would delay production of his various projects.

Discussion: Do you think The Rock will ever wrestle again?

You can watch The Rock’s comments about Triple H, Lesnar and Reigns here:

Vince McMahon Considering Two Huge Names For Survivor Series Guest Referee Role

As we’ve previously reported, WWE wants to add a Special Guest Referee to WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and WWE Champion Jinder Mahal’s singles match at Survivor Series next month. Original rumors had John Cena leading the line of contenders for the position, setting up a possible Cena vs. Mahal match down the road. According to a recent report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, however, two much bigger names could be in the running as well.

Vince McMahon is reportedly also considering WWE Hall Of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock for the Guest Referee role. There are currently no updates on the conversations between WWE and The Rock or Austin. The issue with The Rock, of course, would be his schedule given how busy he is with various projects, as well as how much he’d have to be paid.

If either Rock or Austin take the job it’s very unlikely a program with Lesnar comes out of the match, however, the Observer notes that there is great intrigue in a possible Lesnar vs. Austin feud. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more…
