The Rock Schools Comedian Who Says “Wrestling Isn’t Real”

Don’t tell The Rock that wrestling isn’t real.

Sunday night marked Kurt Angle’s return to the ring after an 11 year hiatus. In an interesting bit of trivia, Kurt Angle defeated The Rock to win his first WWE Championship back on October 22, 2000 – with Sunday’s TLC marking the 17 year anniversary of that occasion.

Ahead of Angle’s return to action, The Rock tweeted congratulations to Angle and told him to have fun in the ring.

Australian comedian Ben Pobjie replied to The Rock that “wrestling isn’t real” and it’s time he knew that. Rock let him have it:

Ric Flair On How He Influenced The Rock’s Persona

WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair recently did an interview with NBC Sports Radio to talk about a variety of professional wrestling topics. “The Nature Boy” talked about his promo skills and the late-great Dusty Rhodes being the first to give him some competition, how he influenced the personas of The Rock and many other WWE Superstars, and who deserves credit for the idea of The Four Horsemen. Here are the highlights:

His promo skills and Dusty Rhodes giving him some competition:

“That all came off the top of my head. We’d be out in Atlanta [Georgia] all night long, back at the hotel around 5 a.m., change clothes, and go to the studio and start taping at 9 o’clock. That’s just a lot of coffee and a lot of liking what I was doing for a living, being surrounded by guys like Dusty and Arn [Anderson] and guys that had so much influence on me. And we went out there and we competed with each other. Does that make sense? If Dusty was out there first, I knew I had to follow that. If I was on first and Dusty had to follow me. It was very competitive.”

How he influenced The Rock’s persona and many other WWE Superstars:

“I think he’ll admit that a lot of me was him,” Flair said. “I don’t know how many Rolex watches I’ve sold for Rolex from guys buying their first Rolex. I can remember Randy Orton got his first big check with Evolution. The first thing he bought was a new tricked out diamond encrusted Rolex, so I know that I’ve done some damage. I think a lot of guys have become more wardrobe-conscious. Does that make sense? Looking the part all of the time as opposed to when you’re in the gym. Every time you walk into a door, you want everybody in the joint to look at you. That’s just what it is.”

Arn Anderson deserving all the credit for the Four Horsemen idea:

“Actually, the idea for The Four Horsemen came from Arn, just something he said one day about The Four Horsemen. I can’t remember the terminology, but he put up [the] four [hand gesture] and Arn did it and we started doing it each week and within a month it caught on and it was bigger than ever. It was huge, so I give all that to Arn. He took the ball and he ran with it.”

The Rock Responds To Sting On Twitter, NFL Star Uses “The People’s Elbow” As Touchdown Celebration

– Prior to attending the WWE 2K18 launch party in Emirates, Dubai, WWE Hall Of Famer Sting sent out a video message on Twitter asking fans to name their favorite era of his career:

The Rock responded to Sting with the years 1988 and 1989 when he was referred to as “Every Man’s Nightmare”:

– Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate used The Rock’s “People’s Elbow” finisher as a touchdown celebration and the WWE posted an article on it. The Rock saw the celebration on social media and reacted to it:

The Rock Talks WWE 2K18 Soundtrack, The Miz Has A Question For You

– WWE recently posted a video of the Miz where he is seen backstage with Curtis Axel, cutting a promo on the Shield. In the video as seen below the Intercontinental Champion asks who would you rather cheer for – a man who elevates careers or the Shield:

“I’m curious Who are you going to cheer for? A man who elevates careers, like Curtis Axel, elevates people into the main event, like Braun Strowman, Cesaro, and Sheamus, or are you going to cheer for…The Shield? It’s your choice.”

The Miz will team up with The Bar and Braun Strowman to face the Shield at the upcoming TLC PPV.

– The Rock has an interesting role in the making of WWE 2K18 – being the Executive Soundtrack Producer of the game. Below is a video of him promoting songs he personally curated for it:

Roman Reigns Wants To Wrestle The Rock At WrestleMania, Reflects On His Feud With John Cena

Former WWE Champion Roman Reigns recently spoke with UK Mirror to talk about various topics. Here are the highlights:

Beating Cena at No Mercy:

“It was a huge honour. You don’t really get to face people like John Cena often. He’s definitely a rare breed, we had a lot of heavy things to say to each other building into the match, but I think at the end of the day we both came out of it with a lot of respect for each other, not only for what we do in the ring, but what we do for the company and all the various responsibilities that come with this role. I’m proud to say that I was able to beat an athlete and a competitor, a superstar and a role model like John Cena, especially in hindsight, someone who has been on top of the mountain for 15 years. He said it, it’s not just like he was wrestling at a certain level, he was at the elite level. I don’t think anybody else is going to have a career like John Cena, to be able to hold the fort down for 15 years, it seems superhuman. I’m just really glad I was able to display my skill and my talent in the ring and we had a really great match and I’m very proud of it.”

Learning from Cena:

“I think I learned that I’m up for any challenge. That was one of the biggest challenges for me and that’s what great competitors do. If I had to lower myself to compete with John Cena, then there’s no point in competing with John Cena. But what he did, like any great competitor, any great superstar, he forced me to step up. As he said, ‘you either step up or you step aside’. I’m very proud to show that I’m able to do these different things. For a long time my strength has always been in the ring and I haven’t had these barn burner promos that everybody talks about the next day. But, I know inside that I’m able to step up. I know what I have ability wise and talent wise and I think that’s all that John was trying to do, he wanted to bring out the best in me and I think he did that and I’m very grateful for that. I think that’s my job, that’s the most important thing about being the top guy, that you lift everybody up, that you bring everybody up to that standard. It can’t be the other way around because if that’s the case, then the whole structure is off. I think he did a great job of lighting a fire under my ass and I think I did a great job of stepping up to the occasion and we made great TV for it.”

His WrestleMania dream matches:

“Yeah I mean, when I first heard about the match with Cena, I immediately was thinking ‘man, let’s save this, let’s do this at WrestleMania’. But when the time is right, the time is right. But in the same light, I can only see me and Rock going at WrestleMania. Not only because of his schedule, but just the level of that match and the level of superstar that he is and you know, where I’m trying to get. But we also have a deep family tie. We represent the same family tree and having the opportunity to represent our culture, there would obviously have to be a sit down and we would have to express how we feel and the light we want to do this in… because there’s a lot of people we represent watching. The last thing I want to do is make it confusing or anything like that. But at the end of the day, I know it’s a money match. And I’m the guy who is still in the ring, so if someone who isn’t in the ring every single night wants to come back in the ring, we now call it my yard, so he is going to have to come to me and then we’ll go from there. It won’t go down anywhere other than a WWE ring, that’s all I’m saying. If he wants to get it, then I’m not stepping back for anybody.”

The Rock Announces ‘Hobbs’ Release Date, Beef With Fast & Furious Co-Star

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has confirmed that his new movie Hobbs will be released on July 26th, 2019. The film is a spin-off of the Fast and Furious franchise based around The Rock’s character.

The Rock has come under fire in recent days from his Fast and Furious co-star Tyrese Gibson, who isn’t happy that The Rock, who he called a clown, is interrupting the filming of the next Fast movie to work on a spin-off.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BZ4Yd2rneFG/

The Rock responded to Tyrese’s rant over the weekend:

Here’s the official Hobbs announcement from The Rock’s Instagram page:

“Daddy’s gotta go back to work ~ Hobbs.

Pumped to expand and build out the FAST & FURIOUS universe in a cool, exciting way with our @sevenbucksprod, writer/producer Chris Morgan, producer Hiram Garcia and lead producer and my bigger twin, Neil Moritz.

Thank you UNIVERSAL STUDIOS for being tremendous partners who see the big picture and for coming to us years ago with this spinoff idea. Huge shout to my brother, Jason Statham for the trust and wanting to create and deliver something fresh and bad ass for the fans.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for this franchise that I’ve enjoyed droppin’ blood and sweat in over the years and my vision is to create greater opportunities for not only my fellow FF cast mates, but for other amazing actors as well who want to be a part of something new and cool.

I want to use my spinoff platform to create new characters that fans will ultimately love to have fun with in multiple chapters and platforms. Film, TV, Digital, Virtual Reality etc.. the more opportunities we can create the better for the fans.

Smart business.

Let’s have some FUN and to quote, Hobbs the boss, if you don’t like it, we’re happy to beat that ass like a Cherokee drum.

Triple H Interested In One More WrestleMania Moment With The Rock

WWE COO Triple H was in Mumbai, India last week to announce WWE’s upcoming live events from the country, scheduled for December.

While there, he stopped by Facebook’s office in Mumbai and took part in a Facebook Live interview. You can check out the full Q&A session here:

Among the most interesting topics discussed was Triple H’s interest in having another ‘WrestleMania moment’ with The Rock. Making no bones about it, Triple H declared,

“I’ll dance one more time with The Great One.”

While both men’s days as active competitors on the WWE roster have long passed, a WrestleMania moment with The Rock is something that would be too good for him to pass up. Triple H mentioned that the idea of one more match with The Rock stems from a backstage interaction they had on SmackDown back in 2014:

Opinion: I don’t think we’ll see Triple H in the ring with The Rock for the next WrestleMania, however I believe we should keep an eye on Kevin Owens…

Jim Ross On His WWE Debut At WrestleMania 9, Bringing The Rock And Steve Austin Into WWE

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross spoke to ESPN to promote his book Slobberknocker: My Life in Wrestling. Here are some of the highlights:

Bringing The Rock and Steve Austin into WWE:

“They are two of my signees. They’re two guys I had a very strong personal relationship with. And you know I just thought the world of both those guys. They were what we needed to revitalize the talent relations department. They were components of what we needed to re-jump-start the competitive feeling you get often times when you have a locker room that’s dotted with overachievers and ex-mainstream athletes. It’s all because of that group of guys and gals that we assembled, that we put in that team environment, that had great skills and we were able to, maybe not 100 percent of the time, but more often than not, give them the opportunity to fully express their creative abilities. And those are still being felt. Randy Orton’s still a key member, John Cena, those guys are two of my last guys.”

Making his WWE debut at WrestleMania 9 in 1993:

“That’s not the greatest feeling to have when you’re getting ready to do your first assignment. It’s only going to be a live show with no net, and the biggest event of the year. So, that was a little unsettling, but you persevere, man, you work through it. Poor me. I’m going to broadcast WrestleMania IX. I’m a wrestling fan. It’s taken me 19 years to get here. And I’m going to b—h and moan that I didn’t get the Chamber of Commerce welcome wagon welcome? You kidding? The first night was an adventure, commentating alongside “Macho Man” Randy Savage and Bobby Heenan, but Ross pushed forward and did his job as well as he could do it, toga and all. Things could have gone sideways in a hurry if the iciness from the rest of the boys continued, but Ross found a pair of key allies in one of the most recognizable commentary teams in wrestling history.”

Ahmed Johnson On His Backstage Scuffle With The Rock, The New Day Being Clowns, Vince

Former Attitude Era WWE Superstar Ahmed Johnson was a recent guest on The Unsanctioned Podcast. Ahmed spoke about a backstage scuffle had with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, why he thinks The New Day are a bunch of clowns and whether or not he’d like to bury the hatchet with WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.

Here are some highlights of what the big man from Pearl River, Mississippi said about:

A backstage scuffle he had with The Rock: “What happened was, he was back in the locker room and I was already back there on the other side of the lockers, so, he couldn’t see me. And he walked in there with Triple H and Shawn, and they were all talking and they were making black jokes, and they didn’t know I was there. When Triple H said, ‘Man, we were joking Rocky, we were joking,’ and Rock said, ‘That’s okay, people look at me and think I’m black. I’m not black, man. My dad had an affair on my dad with a white man. That’s my dad. The white guy is my dad.’

“He was serious as a heart attack. So I stepped from around the locker and said, ‘What you just say?’ He said, ‘Aw, aw, nothing, man, you know just here bulls–tting,’ and I said, ‘Yeah, I heard you over there selling that bulls–t, man. What did you say about your dad? You mean to tell me this man bust his ass for us to be in this federation, and you’re denying him?’ Then he got cocky and said, ‘Man, this ain’t none of your business’ Once he said that, we went for blows. After that, Ron Simmons and Papa Shango broke it up.”

The New Day: “Now come on, don’t one of them got a doctorate degree or something? Come on, man. But he [Vince] got you acting like a clown on a clown car. I think it is shucking and jiving for him. I just think that especially homeboy with that degree [Xavier Woods], they can find something better for him. He could be like a Clarence Mason, like a black wrestling Clarence Mason.”

Whether or not he would welcome “closure” with Vince McMahon: “As a man, I would want closure with any man. If could make closure with any man, I would want that. As a man and as a Christian, I would want that. But as far as me kissing your behind, forget it. Naw. That ain’t even gonna happen.”

Garcia added, “I haven’t really wrapped my head around it just yet. When the time comes, if that comes, I’ll get ready.”

The Rock hyped the interview on Instagram, writing:

Expansion, build out and growth for our co-owned Seven Bucks Companies.
Good to get some hang time in with @adage Magazine for their cover story on my co-CEO and enterprise builder @danygarciaco and myself.

Just because there was no blueprint for a guy like me in Hollywood, didn’t mean it couldn’t be done. It just meant it was time to create a new blueprint. Our Seven Bucks’ never wants to just play in the game.. we want to change the way the game is played.

Tyrese Calls Out The Rock Over ‘Fast And Furious’ Spinoff Movie

Now, The Rock seems to not be getting along with another co-star. This time it is Tyrese Gibson who has an issue with The Rock. Tyrese took to Instagram begging for The Rock to text him back. Tyrese got pissed off about the following Instagram post by The Rock four days ago:

https://www.instagram.com/p/BY12mfHFOP1/

Tyrese got upset because he wants The Rock to wait until Fast 9 wraps up filming before he starts production on a spinoff film featuring his character Hobbs from the franchise. Tyrese went on a rant and has since deleted a couple of the posts.

Boy Saves His Brother From Drowning After Learning How From The Rock In ‘San Andreas’

A 10-year-old boy saved his 2-year-old brother recently in Detroit. Jacob O’Conner noticed that his little brother Dylan had gone missing. Jacob found Dylan drowning in his grandmother’s pool. Dylan had been underwater for more than a minute before Jacob found him. Jacob removed his brother from the water and started doing compressions after seeing The Rock do it in his favorite film ‘San Andreas’.

In the film, The Rock’s character rescues his daughter from drowning and performs CPR until she finally spits up water.

Jacob told The Washington Post “The movie just popped in my head and I started thinking about that scene. And that’s when I started doing compressions”.

The Rock posted the following on Instagram about the story:

This story grabbed my heart. 10yr Jacob O’Connor found his little 2yr old brother, Dylan laying facedown in their pool.
He pulled his little brother out and started CPR & chest compressions. He saved little Dylan’s life. Jacob said he learned how to do this by watching me in his favorite movie, SAN ANDREAS.
I’m so amazed and impressed by this little 10yr old boy’s heroic actions and calm instincts in the middle of that kind of emergency distress.
I now need to shake young Jacob’s hand…

The Rock Reveals His New Tattoo (Photo)

The Rock finishes Brahma Bull tattoo

The Rock posted on Instagram about the evolution of his trademark Brahma Bull tattoo. His new tattoo is complete after 3 sessions and 22 hours of tattooing by Nikki Hurtado.

Evolution of the bull.

After 3 sessions and 22hrs of tattooing with world renowned @NikkoHurtado, the story’s almost done.. Every detail is a reflection of my own personal history.

From the cracks and heavy damage in the bone representing life’s hard lessons I’ve learned over the years. Just like scars and wrinkles – I’m so grateful to have ’em because they’re earned.

To the horns, not pointing up or out to the side, but pointing straight ahead representing relentless energy and forward progress.

The core and anchor of this image is in the eye. Look closely and you’ll find the life, energy, power and you’ll feel the MANA (spirit). The eye tells the story of a disruptive positive energy always ready to dent the universe.

Depending on the light and angle, sometimes the energy’s subtle and sometimes it’s glaring. But it’s always alive and ready to disrupt the universe and love and protect my family and all things I love with intense passion and gratitude.

Cheers to living, learning, evolving and growing. And to the positive disrupters ready to dent the universe.

The Rock Reveals The Reason He’d Always Over-Sell The Stone Cold Stunner

The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin put on one of the most storied rivalries in the WWE’s Attitude Era. One of the most entertaining aspects of Rock and Austin’s rivalry was how much “The Brahma Bull” would over-sell the Stone Cold Stunner. There are plenty of compilation videos online showing all the various over-sells Rock did while being stunned, often flipping and bouncing off the ropes, nearly doing a cartwheel, and wiggling around on the mat like a fish out of water.

Recently, Hannibal Buress took to his podcast to talk about how much The Rock would over-sell when being stunned with his friend Tony Trimm. You can check that clip out here:

Rock took to Twitter to respond to Hannibal, revealing that he and Austin would actually bet cases of beer to see how crazy he could get while selling the stunner:

The Rock Teams Up With Apple For ‘Siri’ Short Film (Video)

The Rock has partnered with Apple for a short film entitled “The Rock x Siri Dominate The Day.” Since the video was released, it has already reached 2.6 million views on YouTube.

The premise of the advertisement is that The Rock is the hardest working man in show business and is constantly doing something. The Rock turns on an entertainment news show and the host says “with so many projects in the works, it seems like Dwayne Johnson can’t take on anymore”. The Rock then dropped everything that he was doing and asked Siri to show him his life goals list on his iPhone.

The Rock then asks Siri to get him a Lyft ride and The Rock winds up making the driver move to the backseat as The Rock wanted to drive the car. The Rock then proceeded to fly a plane to Rome, launch a fashion line, learn how to cook, perform on a guzheng in front of a live audience, take a selfie in outer space and film an action scene for a movie all in one day. The Rock then asked Siri to create another list of new life goals as the commercial ended.
