WWE legend and Hollywood megastar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is on the cover of the July 2016 edition of GQ British magazine. In a story written by Paul Henderson, The Rock spoke about his thriving movie career, dealing with depression earlier in life, his criminal past and what it’s like being The Rock.
“The Rock was – still is in fact - the best role I will ever get to play,” he said. “I was being me, but me turned all the way up to ten. I could say anything, do anything and I would wink and everyone was in on the joke. They got it, I was connecting, it was perfect. But I couldn’t help feeling like I had achieved everything I had wanted to in wrestling. By the end of 1998 I was the youngest world champion and making a lot of money, but I wanted to know what was next.”
The Rock has stated a few times over the years that he could very well follow in the footsteps of WWE Hall of Famer Jesse Ventura and cross over into politics. With the 2016 US Presidential election season kicking into high gear, The Rock says he’s still open to the prospect of being President.
“I’ll be honest, I haven’t ruled politics out. I’m not being coy when I say that, but at the moment I am not sure. I can’t deny that the thought of being governor, the thought of being president, is alluring. And beyond that, it would be an opportunity to make a real impact on people’s lives on a global scale. But there are a lot of other things I want to do first.”

The Rock announced on Monday that he’s signed on to portray the superhero Doc Savage (“Man Of Bronze”) on the big screen. Man Of Bronze is known as the ‘world’s first superhero’ and the inspiration for the Superman character. The Rock commented on the new project:
“Doc was physically and mentally trained from birth by his father and a team of scientists to become the perfect human specimen with a genius level intellect. His heightened senses are beyond comprehension. He can even identify a women’s perfume from half a mile away. He is literally the master of everything.
But here’s the #1 reason I’m excited to become Doc Savage.. HE’S A F*CKING HILARIOUS WEIRDO!
Confidently, yet innocently he has zero social graces whatsoever due to his upbringing so every interaction he has with someone is direct, odd, often uncomfortable and amazingly hilarious.
After speaking for hours w/ Shane Black I can see why the creator of Superman took only the best parts of Doc Savage and leaving the “weirdo” part behind. But to us, it’s that “weirdo” part that makes Clark “Doc” Savage dope! Can’t wait to sink my teeth into this one of a kind character.”
John Cena is on the cover of Men’s Health magazine this month (June 2016 issue) and made several surprising revelations. Cena, who returns to WWE RAW next week, revealed that he originally got into weight lifting as a result of being bullied as a child.
Cena’s career outside of WWE is flourishing. He’s had successful roles in comedy films Trainwreck and Sisters. He’s made several guest appearances co-hosting NBC’s “Today” morning show. He hosts the military-themed reality competition American Grit on FOX and will host ESPN’s ESPY Awards this summer. Naturally, there are some comparisons being made to another wrestling great who went on to big things in the entertainment world, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Despite his own success, Cena is quick to distance himself from The Rock, who he says is in a league of his own.
“I’m not even close,” Cena said. “That’s a testament to Dwayne. … He’s truly re-defined what it means to be a multi-skilled entertainer on so many platforms. I would love to one day be grouped in a conversation with Dwayne Johnson, but that day is not today.”
During a rapid-fire Q&A portion of the interview, Cena was asked which board game best describes his nature. “Chess,” Cena said. “I’m a sucker for strategy. You’re trying to see things before they happen.”
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be starring in, and executive producing with his Seven Bucks Productions, The Janson Directive, based on the late Robert Ludlum’s best-selling thriller.
This could be another big hit for Rock as Universal is looking at the movie with the idea of turning it into a multi-film franchise.
“‘The Janson Directive’ is classic Robert Ludlum. Sharp, edgy and layered storylines. The character is complex, conflicted, bad ass and lethal–I can’t wait to sink my teeth into this and bring him to life.”
Rock will be starring as a former clandestine operative, who is now the best private security consultant in the world, but framed for a crime. He must join forces with a protegee sent to kill him in order to stay alive.
– Mick Foley recently took to Facebook to comment on this Sunday’s Extreme Rules PPV. The WWE Hall of Famer wrote about the “Asylum” match between Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho, saying it may be a “big break” for Ambrose.
Could this AsylumMatch at ExtremeRules be exactly what Dean Ambrose needs? Experience has taught me that a big break is often a series of smaller breaks – like a ball peen hammer tapping away at that glass ceiling everyone talks about…until finally, it shatters. Could this match it be another breakthrough for Ambrose? Couldn’t potential he steal the show – a tall task given the chemistry between AJ Styles, and Roman Reigns in their last outing.
– The Extreme Rules pre-show starts at 7:00 PM ET this Sunday, and the actual pay-per-view will begin at 8:00. Join us for live play-by-play results from the event at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Sunday evening.

“The only movie to take more money than that in one day was Hulk Hogan’s sex tape,” Hart said. “He hit her with the Hulkamania from the back!”
“He put that 24-inch python to work,” Johnson added.
As noted earlier, there were several wrestling mentions on the award show when Chris Pratt won ‘Best Action Performance’ and thanked Jesse Ventura and Roddy Piper among others.
