The Usos On Taking A Break From WWE

The Usos were guests on this week’s WWE Backstage where they talked about a number of topics including their favorite moments in WWE to what they were up to over the past few months that they haven’t been on WWE.

For those who are unaware, Jimmy Uso got arrested for DUI in July, and the duo was off WWE programming since then, until their return to SmackDown on the January 3 episode.

“You all know how it is being on the road, it’s hectic. You almost get tunnel vision on the road,” Jimmy Uso opened up. “It becomes your baby, it becomes what do I need to do? How can I fix that crack? How can I get over with this? How can I talk this way? How can I look this way?”

“And you put so much energy into this, right? And I think that’s what we were doing. We didn’t slow down. You almost got to get away from it.”

“Detox,” Booker T added, to which Jimmy agreed. Booker also talked about understanding what one has and how quickly one can lose it.

“Like you said it could be gone in a quick moment,” Jey said. “When you in those moments, when you’re at your lowest, the only way you can come up; you see all the opportunities in front of you when you’re at your lowest. And that’s where we were headed to.”

The Usos stated that they had to “dip off” and get grounded by getting back with their family and their roots.

The Usos made their surprise return to Friday Night SmackDown on January 3, where they saved Roman Reigns from King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler’s attack.

During an interview backstage after the match, the duo said that they missed the WWE Universe and they had to come back. We got things right and got back on track, they said.

The Usos Comment On Their Return To SmackDown

Following their surprise return to Friday Night SmackDown last week, The Usos joined Roman Reigns backstage for an exclusive interview with WWE.com.

“We had to come back, man. We missed the WWE Universe just as much as they missed the Usos. A big night for us, man. [We] got to come out and help out cuz once again. I love it. We here now. We was away. Got things right, got on track.”

“We was at home, we saw them dumping dog food on our big cuz—it’s like ‘Oh no, this ain’t gonna happen again! We got you Uce!’ And what it do? We here. We here.”

The Usos And Reigns

Reigns reflected on the time they spent together as children, remembering how the Usos told on him for flipping the bird at them. He noted how he got “whooped” afterwards, but ever since that moment they’ve “been like brothers.”

“The road is tough out here. You’re so used to having a certain security blanket—having your family on the road, it can be tricky when you don’t have them. With the [brand] split, with you guys going away, with Truth being on the other side, I felt like I’ve been alone. But it felt really good to see you guys here, not only backstage but everything, man.”

The Usos ran to the ring during last Friday’s episode of SmackDown to save Reigns from an assault at the hands of Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin.

Update On The Usos’ Status With WWE

News on what WWE has in store for The Usos is out and it’s not positive.

Dave Meltzer reported on F4Wonline.com this afternoon that although The Usos and Naomi were backstage at a recent WWE television event, “there is right now no creative for them nor return date, nor a decision regarding which brand they will be with.”

The lack of creative plans for The Usos is the main reason they were not included in the 2019 WWE Draft.

This comes after Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio last month that The Usos were about to return to WWE TV. It’s been well documented that plans change all the time in WWE.

The brothers have been off TV and live events since late July. It started when Jimmy Uso was pulled over and charged with a DUI in Pensacola, Florida. As a result, this caused them to be pulled from SummerSlam weekend events.

It will be interesting to see which brand they are used on when they do make their returns to WWE television. They could be moved to Monday Night RAW or remain on SmackDown.

Jimmy and Jey Uso are one of the most successful tag teams in WWE history. They are four-time SmackDown Tag Team Champions, two-time WWE Tag Team Champions, and won the Slammy for tag team of the year in 2014 and 2015.

Former WWE Tag Team Champions Expected To Return Soon

More news of WWE stars making their returns continue.

Former WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos are slated to return soon. They join Drew McIntyre and Tamina Snuka as talents who have already returned or expected to do so shortly.

It was noted by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio that The Usos are about to return to WWE TV.

There’s no word yet on exactly when they will do so but it could come as soon as this week or perhaps WWE holds off until the draft next month after the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event.

Update On The Usos Return To WWE TV

The brothers have been off TV and live events since late July. It started when Jimmy Uso was pulled over and charged with a DUI in Pensacola, Florida. As a result, this caused them to be pulled from SummerSlam weekend events.

With Luke Harper making his return at Sunday’s Clash of Champions pay-per-view event to help Erick Rowan beat Roman Reigns, the belief is that a tag team match will happen at next month’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event.

As of this writing, there’s no word yet on who Reigns’ partner will be but there has been speculation that WWE could get The Usos involved in the program.

WWE Tag Teams Respond To Guerrillas Of Destiny’s Challenge

Tama Tonga and his brother, Tanga Loa—collectively, The Guerrillas Of Destiny (GOD)—made an interesting challenge during their post-Dominion match interview.

The pair would throw out a couple of key WWE team names, taunt them as they demanded “fresh blood” to challenge for their titles.

It appears as though those WWE teams heard GOD as The Usos and The Revival have responded to the request via Twitter.

The Usos wrote “DAMN. EVERYBODY WANT DIS WORK HUH??” whilst The Revival took a more direct approach, telling GOD “You know where we are. #FTR”

https://twitter.com/ScottDawsonWWE/status/1138476411977703424

“Don’t Let The Fences Over There Block You In”

Guerillas Of Destiny made the demands crystal clear during their backstage interview, with Tanga Loa saying, “Here’s what we want: some new f****** blood.”

It was at this point that Tama Tonga would call out their rival company’s teams.

“When we said this is an open invite, open challenge, an open invitation to anybody and everybody […] It’s open. You want some of us? Come. Usos? Come. FTR? Come get some. Don’t let the fences over there block you in. Come out to the open and play, boys. Come out to the open.”

GOD successfully defended their IWGP Tag Team titles against their Los Ingobernables de Japon opponents, EVIL and Sanada, during NJPW’s recent Dominion event.

They are also the current Ring Of Honor tag team champions. The brothers won both sets of belts during the ROH/NJPW co-promoted G1 Supercard on April 6th.

The Briscoe Brothers Issue Challenge To The Usos

Ring Of Honor (ROH) tag team, The Briscoe Brothers, have just called out another popular brother duo for a matchup. The only problem? That tag team are signed to WWE.

In a recent interview with Rebellious Noise, conducted backstage at Madison Square Garden, the team would discuss travelling internationally to wrestle, their next steps in ROH, and what it was like wrestling at MSG in New York. It was during this conversation that former ROH World Champion, Jay Briscoe, would lobby the challenge at WWE’s Jimmy and Jey Uso.

Jay would admit that, at this time in their career, they just want to have “big time matches.” With the Briscoes having dominated the ROH tag team division for years, they seem to be interested in looking outside of ROH’s remit for potential new opponents. But for those big time matches to happen, “[…] we need big time tag teams to wrestle against. So, uh, yo, Usos, what’s good? Have your people call my people, we can do this.”

His brother, Mark, would then add “We can make it work out, baby, we can work it out.”

The Briscoe Brothers have held numerous championships during their time with ROH. The pair are ten-time ROH World Tag Team Champions and have also held the IWGP Tag Team Championships in New Japan Pro Wrestling.

WWE Confirms Title Match For SmackDown Live

We have a title match official for tonight’s (Tues. April 9, 2019) episode of SmackDown Live. WWE has confirmed that tonight, SmackDown Live Tag Team Champions The Usos will be defending their titles against The Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff Hardy).

The Usos come off a successful title defense from Sunday’s WrestleMania 35 inside MetLife Stadium. The twins defeated The Bar, Ricochet & Aleister Black, and Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev in a Fatal Four-Way bout for the SDL Tag Team Titles. Not to mention the pair just re-signed with WWE on a brand new five-year deal recently.

It should be noted that the SmackDown Live Tag Team Titles are the only tag titles The Hardys have yet to win. Matt and Jeff captured the RAW Tag Team Championships when they returned to WWE two years ago at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando.

The Hardy Boyz have been challenging The Usos via social media for the past several weeks. It looks like they’ll finally get their wish tonight on the first SmackDown Live after WrestleMania.

What do you think about The Usos vs. The Hardy Boyz for the titles tonight?

The Usos Retain WWE SmackDown Tag Team Titles

The Usos are still the SmackDown Tag Team champions.

As seen at Sunday’s WrestleMania 35 pay-per-view event in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium on the WWE Network, the brothers successfully retained the SmackDown Tag Team Titles in a Fatal Four-Way match against Ricochet & Aleister Black, The Bar and Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev.

It was reported earlier this week that The Usos have reached an agreement to a new deal with the company. The deal was signed a few weeks ago.

The contracts of the current WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions were slated to expire at the end of April but they inked five-year deals.

Before the news about them inking new deals, there was some speculation that they could be headed to join AEW as the promotion has made it known that they plan to have a strong focus on tag team wrestling.

The champions beat Shane McMahon and The Miz at the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view event from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio to win the titles back.

The Hardy Boyz Continue To Challenge The Usos

It appears that WWE is looking to book a program between WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos and  The Hardy Boyz (Jeff & Matt).

This has led to a ton of speculation that a potential match at WrestleMania 35 could be in play. It all started when Jeff Hardy dropped a teaser about the match in a recent interview.

Since then, both teams have hinted at the contest. As of this writing, WWE has yet to confirm who The Usos will make their next title defense against at WrestleMania 35.

The latest development in this tease is when Matt Hardy’s personal YouTube channel released this video of the brothers talking about needing to prove themselves to The Usos after battles with other top tag teams in the business.

They made it known that they welcome the opportunity to visit The Uso Penitentiary and believe the match has to happen.

WWE presents the WrestleMania 35 pay-per-view event on Sunday, April 7, 2019 in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium that will air on the WWE Network. WWE will be announcing more matches for this show in the coming weeks.

WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair is expected to headline the show.

The Usos & Hardy Boyz Tease Title Match

The Usos and the Hardy Boyz appear likely to face each other soon. Matt Hardy noted on Twitter recently that he would be watching the Smackdown tag-team title match at Fastlane closely.

The Usos opened up the main PPV at Fastlane by successfully defending their title against former champions, the Miz and Shane McMahon. After the match, Hardy sent out the following on Twitter.

The Usos offered up the following response:

The Usos vs The Hardy Boyz

The Usos and the Hardy Boyz are two of the most decorated teams in WWE history. Jimmy & Jey Uso have won tag-team gold in WWE on 6 occasions. They are 4x WWE SMackdown tag-team champions, which is the most any team has won the most particular belts. The Usos have also been awarded 2 Slammy Awards for “Tag Team of the Year” in 2014 and 2015.

Matt & Jeff Hardy have won tag-team gold in WWE on 8 occasions. The brothers are 6x WWE/F tag-team champions, 1x Raw tag-team champions, and also won the WCW tag team titles during the WWE vs WCW Invasion angle.

The Hardy Boyz recently reunited on Smackdown. They defeated the Bar on the February 26th episode. The Usos most recently defeated Shane McMahon and the Miz to retain the Smackdown titles at Fastlane.

The Usos Retain WWE SmackDown Tag Team Titles At Fastlane, Heel Turn Takes Place

The Usos have retained the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships. The newly champions beat Shane McMahon and The Miz at the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view event from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

Following the match, McMahon turned on The Miz which marked his heel turn. This has been something that fans were speculating about since WWE decided to pair them up as a tag team.

Now, it appears that they will enter into a program that will eventually lead to a match at the biggest event of the year for the company. WrestleMania 35 is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 7, 2019 in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium.

McMahon and The Miz dropped the SmackDown Tag Team Titles to The Usos at the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

The unlikely pairing earned their first set of WWE gold as a tag team once they beat The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro) at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in Phoenix, Arizona at Chase Field on the WWE Network.

Roman Reigns Comments On Dean Ambrose & The Usos Possibly Leaving WWE

WWE held a press conference in Tampa Bay, FL on Thursday to announce WrestleMania 36 is coming to the city in April 2020. Afterwards, Roman Reigns took part in a media conference call to discuss WrestleMania and more. During the call, Reigns commented on the possibility of Dean Ambrose and The Usos leaving WWE soon.

Back in January, PWTorch.com broke the news that Dean Ambrose would be leaving WE when his contract expires in April. WWE issued an unprecedented statement confirming the report. The company has since incorporated Ambrose’s departure into television storylines, a which believe is a sign Ambrose changed his mind and will be sticking around after all.

There have also been reports that decorated SmackDown tag team are also considering taking their talents elsewhere.

So what does Roman Reigns think about his longtime friend and cousins possibly leaving, now that he’ll soon return to a full-time WWE schedule?

“I think I put a little bit more pressure on myself to be more than just a friend and a peer,” Reigns started. “The Usos… obviously they are my family. But Dean is the same way. A lot of these guys are. That’s what people don’t realize, it’s not just these names that you know, but I’m so close to so many of these guys.”

Talent Has To Do What’s Best For Them

Reigns explained that he assumes the role of one of the locker room leaders and gives advice to talent about various issues. However, at the end of the day, people have to do what’s best for them.

“That’s the hardest part for me. These situations where the business comes up and I’m always for giving advice, giving my perspective and what I might do in that situation, but when it comes down to it this is business and these men are businessmen and they’re going to have to take care of themselves and get the numbers and the years on the contracts that they want.”

He continued, “Regardless, I’m so close with this locker room, the majority of these guys are going to hear from me when I’m grey talking about the pops we used to get and the towns we used to make! That’s the most important thing for me, that we all achieve that happiness and we get that closure we need to move on.”

Reigns emphasized once again that people have to do what makes them and their families happiest. “The cool part is, when people go, some people are introduced. As some old faces leave, we have new faces and new relationships and new bonds and new chemistry.”

The Usos & Hardy Boyz Continue To Tease WrestleMania Match

The Usos (Jey & Jimmy) and The Hardy Boyz (Jeff & Matt) continue to drop hints at a potential showdown at WrestleMania 35.

It all started when Jeff Hardy dropped a teaser about the match in a recent interview. Since then, both teams have hinted at the contest but it won’t take place at the next pay-per-view event, Fastlane, as The Usos already have a match booked for this show.

They’ll defend the SmackDown Tag Team Titles against Shane McMahon and The Miz. As of this writing, Jeff and Matt do not have a match booked.

Rikishi Comments On The Usos Winning Smackdown Tag Team Titles

The Usos captured the Smackdown tag-team championships on Sunday for a record 4th time. They defeated Shane McMahon and the Miz, ending their reign after just 21 days. WWE Hall of Famer, and father of the Usos, Rikishi, took to Instagram to comment on his sons winning the titles yet again.

Rikishi on the Usos Winning The Smackdown Tag Team Titles

Rikishi quotes his son Jonathan Fatu (Jimmy Uso) in the post.

“You go out there day in and day out and you grind and you bust your ass. As soon as you slip one time you got the world against you, you know?” “It’s hard to go out like that with the mindset thinking everyone out there’s against you. Until you go out there and you show them what you’re really made of. “ – Jonathan Fatu

The Usos WWE Contract Situation

Jimmy and Jey Uso are only under contract to WWE until this April. It was noted on Wrestling Observer radio recently that the brothers had not signed new contracts as of one week ago. Things could have changed since then without it being public knowledge, however.

The Usos are 6x WWE tag-team champions, twice before the brand-split, and then 4x over as the Smackdown tag-team champions. They were awarded the Slammy for  WWE Tag Team of the Year in 2014 and 2015.

The Usos Set WWE Record, Fighting With My Family Box Office Results

The Usos Set WWE Record

Newly crowned WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos set a WWE record by beating Shane McMahon and The Miz to win the straps at the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event.

As a result of this win, they became the first team to win the SmackDown Tag Team Titles four times. They broke their tie with the New Day, who has three.

Fighting With My Family Box Office Results

The “Fighting with My Family” movie opened on four screens this past weekend, two in Los Angeles and two in New York City. The feature film based on the life of the Knight family including Saraya Knight aka Paige that is titled “Fighting With My Family.”

According to a report by The Wrap, the film brought in $131,625 for the limited release. This makes up to a solid per screen average of $32,906 with the total expected to grow to $163,000 with a per screen average of $40,750 after today’s Presidents’ Day holiday. Next up is having the film open elsewhere on Friday.

The film was produced in conjunction with WWE Studios and Film 4. Paige will not be playing herself but rather will be portrayed by actress Florence Pugh.

The Usos Win SmackDown Tag Team Titles At WWE Elimination Chamber

The Usos have won the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions. The newly crowned champions beat Shane McMahon and The Miz at the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. This comes during the same week that Jimmy was arrested.

The unlikely pairing has earned their first set of WWE gold as a tag team once they beat The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro) at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in Phoenix, Arizona at Chase Field on the WWE Network.

The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso) earned this title opportunity on the episode of SmackDown Live two nights after the Royal Rumble PPV when they defeated The Bar, The New Day (represented by Big E and Kofi Kingston), and Heavy Machinery (Otis Dozovic and Tucker Knight) in a four-corners tag team elimination match.

Time will tell whether WWE continues this feud or goes into a different direction heading into Fastlane pay-per-view event next month. WWE could book the rematch on an episode of SmackDown Live.

The Bar Vs The Usos With Title Implications Booked For Smackdown

WWE Smackdown tag team champions, the Bar, will take on the Usos Tuesday night on Smackdown. Should Jimmy and Jey defeat Cesaro and Sheamus, they will have earned a title match against the champions at a later date.

“In a high-stakes match, Jimmy & Jey will face off against Sheamus & Cesaroand,” a WWE press release for the match reads. “if The Usos can prevail, they will receive a future SmackDown Tag Team Title opportunity.”

Smackdown will take place in the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena this Tuesday from Jacksonville, Florida.

The Bar vs the Usos and the Smackdown Tag Team Division

The last time the Bar defended the Smackdown tag team championships, they won a triple threat match at TLC. The other teams involved in the match were New Day and the Usos.

The Usos were the lone surviving team in the tag-team traditional Survivor Series match in November. Meanwhile, the Bar lost to then-Raw tag team champions, AOP, later that night. Last time out, however, the Usos went to a no-contest with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows due to outside interference.

The last time the Usos and the Bar met on WWE programming, it was the Usos who picked up the victory. That match occurred on an episode of Smackdown from Minnesota on November 27th.

Undertaker And More Backstage For SmackDown, The Usos On Their Victory

Undertaker And More Backstage For SmackDown

A number of interesting names were backstage for this week’s episode of SmackDown Live from Austin, Texas including a couple of big-time legends.

According to WrestlingInc, both the Undertaker and Ric Flair were in the arena for this week’s episode of the Blue Branded Show. Not only them but Christian and Maryse were also backstage for the event.

Taker who lives in the area was apparently just visiting the arena while Maryse was there filming some stuff for the second season of Miz & Mrs. No word yet on what Christian and Flair were doing.

The Usos On Their Victory

This week’s episode of SmackDown Live saw Jay Uso defeating both Xavier Woods and Cesaro in a triple threat match ahead of their TLC bout.

After the show, the Usos were interviewed backstage where Mike Rome asked them how they would replicate this victory to grab a win at the upcoming TLC PPV.

Answering the question, the Usos said that they have been feeling this momentum from past few weeks and they have an itch which tells them they are winning that tag titles at TLC:

The Usos are scheduled to face The Bar and The New Day in a triple threat tag team match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships at the upcoming PPV next Sunday.

Speculation On Backstage Heat With The Usos

One of the most consistent tag teams that the WWE have to offer at the moment are the Usos. This became especially true once they adopted their Day One gimmick, leaving the face paint in the past.

However, much like other talented teams on the WWE roster (The Revival, for instance) the Usos just haven’t been able to break through in recent months. Even when they were champions, their latter reigns weren’t particularly memorable. Through no fault of their own, the initially stellar and then overextended feuds with the likes of The New Day became unintentionally stale.

Down Since Day One

Speaking on the ‘Oh, You Didn’t Know’ podcast, reporter Brad Shepard speculated on the Usos’ current position within the WWE.

He said that he had an “[…] interesting conversation with a source in WWE about the Usos” before proclaiming them to be his pick as the “the greatest tag team of this generation.”

When questioning his source about the Usos’ current placement on the roster and Network events, his source supposedly agreed with Shepard when asked: “Who the hell have the Usos pissed off?”

“[…] they still manage to be on the kickoff show so much, yet they’re having legitimate exceptional matches by today’s standards,” he said. “They do well, yet they always end up, it seems like, in every case, they end up on the kickoff show and I don’t understand that one at all.”

Xavier Woods: “Respect The Tag Team Divisions”

Team Smackdown defeated Team Raw in the tag-team Survivor Series match last night. The match took place on the pre-show, however, and so didn’t count towards the storyline of Raw sweeping Smackdown on the main PPV.

New Day’s Xavier Woods was not happy with the tag-team match not being included in the storyline Raw vs Smackdown score last night. He sent out the following on Twitter after the show ended:

The Usos, who were the sole survivors in the match, re-tweeted Woods’ comments.

WWE Tag Team Divisions

Only Heath Slater and Rhyno didn’t participate in the Survivor Series tag-team match last night. The Revival and the Usos were the two final teams remaining. The Usos are likely in line for a tag team title match after last night. They also defeated former champions the New Day to earn the team captaincy for Smackdown. Smackdown tag-team champions, the Bar, lost to the Raw Champions Authors of Pain on the main PPV.

Shane McMahon commented on Raw’s “clean sweep” over Smackdown last night. He is saying there will be changes to his brand as a result.

“Tomorrow is a new day, but something is going to have to change come Tuesday.”

Sounds as though Shane McMahon will have some comments Tuesday night.

Rusev vs Aiden English

While some fans were likely hoping they would settle their rivalry in Milwaukee, Aiden English and Rusev will clash tonight. This really could be just the start of this angle or the blow-off depending on how strongly WWE feels about it.

Fallout of Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch Altercation
