  • Update On Big Show vs. Triple H, RAW Script Changes, Vince McMahon’s Return

-As previously reported, the plan for the upcoming WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view is to book Randy Orton vs. Big Show for the WWE Championship. The reason it seemed like WWE was pushing a Big Show vs. Triple H match once again on Monday’s RAW is because the plan is for that match to headline the WWE TLC pay-per-view in December. Obviously plans could change as time goes on, but as of right now, that is what’s scheduled to happen.

-For those asking why Vince McMahon did not appear on RAW on Monday night, apparently there were two scripts for Monday’s show. One script had McMahon written into the show, while the other didn’t. WWE apparently went with the script that didn’t have McMahon appearing, despite the fact that he was heavily advertised locally. The plan is for McMahon to still return sometime in the near future, with Big Show planting the seeds for his return by referencing him in an around-about way in promos.

On the ESPN game on Thursday, when talking about Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, Rece Davis said, “to be the best, you gotta beat the best,” which was followed up with Jesse Palmer throwing in a “Woooo!” Also, during halftime of the Saturday game between Miami and USF, one of the announcers talked about a Miami player who was “playing dirty like Ric Flair out there,” which was also followed up by a passionate “Woooo!”

More On December’s TLC PPV Buyrate & CM Punk’s Drawing Power

WWE reported earlier this week that December’s Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view did around 170,000 buys, based on preliminary data. This number is a bit off from last year’s 179,000. What’s odd is the show is listed as doing 71,000 domestic buys and 99,000 foreign. This is a very low domestic number and possibly an error. Last year’s show did 98,000 domestic.

October’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, which featured Punk vs. Ryback in the main event (and no John Cena, due to injury) drew surpringly strong sales. The soft buyrate of TLC is actually somewhat of a good sign for WWE Champion CM Punk, who did not compete on the show due to injury.

CM Punk not wrestling on the show resulting in one of the worst buyrates of the year is another sign that Punk was a solid pay-per-view draw during his reign as champion and his matches are a big factor in whether fans will pay $40+ on a pay-per-view.

Jim Ross Blogs About Tonight’s WWE TLC Pay-Per-View

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog at JRsBarBQ.com with his thoughts on tonight’s WWE Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

CM Punk’s Status For The Show: “Will @WWE Champion @CMPunk’s presence at #TLC Sunday be significant? My assumption is yes but how is anyone’s guess. The WWE Title is the ultimate prize in WWE and it will be on display in some shape, form or fashion.”

Dolph Ziggler vs. John Cena: “@HeelZiggler slipping over @JohnCena in the Ladder match with the MITB contract at stake. Would it shock me to see Dolph Ziggler leave TLC as the new World Champion as well? Not totally. It also wouldn’t shock me to see Cena win. That’s one reason this match intrigues me.”

Ryback and Team Hell No vs The Shield: “6 man tag that is likely to be wild west like and I see the three newcomers coming out on top by hook or crook. Fresh match that will likely be well received. “

Which Match Will Close The Show: “Most likely much will be made of what bout will close the PPV and my opinion on that one is “Who cares?” As it relates to the order of events, the first bout of the night on PPV is also extremely important and should be one that is perceived that the live audience will engage in and invest. Frankly, more speculation should be devoted to what bout starts the show that what bout ends the event.”

WWE Superstars & Divas Give Their Predictions For Sunday’s TLC PPV

WWE.com has a feature up looking at Sunday’s Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view, with Superstars and Divas giving predictions for Sunday’s top matches

    Dolph Ziggler vs. John Cena

Zack Ryder: That’s a tough one. Ziggler’s worked his a** off to get this opportunity to wrestle a main event guy in Cena, and I don’t think there’s any way anybody’s going to stop Ziggler from holding on to that briefcase.

Tyson Kidd: Dolph has won over so many fans these last few years, and it sounds a little cliché, but in this one, it seems like it’s a different side of Cena we haven’t seen in a while, where he’s fighting more with his heart than his mind. That could cost him. I think this is Dolph’s chance to show he is where he really belongs, and I think Dolph comes away with the win this time.

Layla: This will be a tough, tough fight, but my money’s on Dolph. It’s his time, and he deserves it, too. He’s worked so, so hard. Love him or hate him, he really is a showoff, but he has a lot to show off about. I think that’s going to be a shocker, the jaw-dropper of the night, big time.

    Sheamus vs. Big Show

Titus O’Neil: Sheamus is definitely a Celtic Warrior, a hard worker and an extremely physical opponent, but I’ve just got a feeling that Big Show, being the largest athlete on the planet and possessing the strongest punch on the planet, is going to win.

Not everyone was on board with Big Show being the presumptive victor. Though the inclusion of metal folding chairs helped garner votes for The World’s Largest Athlete, at least one Superstar believes Sheamus’ anger toward Big Show will drive him toward his second World Heavyweight Title.

Tyson Kidd: First off, Sheamus and Big Show, and this isn’t really surprising, but they’ve been stepping it up to a much higher level lately, and I don’t think we’ve seen this intensity out of either guy, maybe ever. Show’s going in having dominated much of these last two matches, but I think that is maybe what Sheamus needed to relight some of that fire he had when he first jumped on the scene. This event is also where he won his first World Title, too, so I think Sheamus will get it done at WWE TLC.

Road Dogg: I definitely know Sheamus wants it, and Big Show knows he wants it, too. Thirty-one chair strikes, to be precise, say how bad he wants it. But I know if Big Show gets a metal folding chair in his hands and hits anybody — and I mean, anybody — with it, they’re done. Sheamus can want it all he wants. Any man goes down when the giant hits you with a chair.

Ryback, Kane and Daniel Bryan vs. Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose

Wade Barrett: Team Hell No & Ryback is a formidable team, [and] they’ve all got their individual strengths. Obviously, experience is on the side of Kane, Daniel Bryan’s an incredible technician, and you have the power of Ryback. And then you’ve got The Shield, who are kind of an unknown entity.

I really empathize with the position The Shield are in because I was in a similar position when I was leading Nexus in 2010 in the main event of SummerSlam, when we were taking on the WWE veterans. Unfortunately, on that occasion, it didn’t end well for us. I hope for the sake of The Shield they do a little better. I’m certainly pulling for The Shield, but if I’m honest, I think Team Hell No & Ryback got ’em beat.

Michael McGillicutty: I’ve got to go with The Shield. Those guys are a cohesive unit, and that’s what it takes to get victories here in WWE. Take a look at Team Hell No. Talk about a bunch of weirdoes, man. They don’t care about anything but themselves and who’s going to get the pinfall in a contest. Then you’ve got Ryback, and I still ain’t believing his hype. The win’s going to go to The Shield, bottom line.

Kofi Kingston Talks About Sunday’s TLC PPV & HIs Favorite Match

WWE Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston spoke to AM New York this week to promote Sunday’s Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view from Brooklyn. Here are some highlights of what Kofi said about:

How He’s Prepping For His Match Against Wade Barrett At TLC:

“What are you doing to get ready for your match on Sunday? It’s been more of a mental preparation. I’m a guy who alwaystries to play by the rules, and Wade Barrett is pretty much the opposite ofthat. So initially, he and I had a match on “Raw” a couple weeks ago and I wasn’t ready as far as knowing the lows that he would go to win a match. And kudos to him. But I know what I have to do now to compete and to win and retain my Intercontinental Championship.”

    His Favorite Match:

“Well, right now, the first one that comes to my head is whenI beat Sheamus for the United States Championship [last year at the ExtremeRules event], and we had a tables match. … Winning the United StatesChampionship was awesome. And even being able to put a guy like Sheamus througha table is no easy feat. When you see this guy, and you know that he’s abrawler, so I know it was going to be a fight, but that’s probably my bestmemory so far. Hopefully, this Sunday will be an even better memory when I beat Wade!”

Which TLC Match He Can’t Wait To See: “Well, to be honest, I’m excited about all of them. You’ve got so many here. Cena versus Dolph with the Money in the Bank contract at stake – this is awesome. You think that once you win Money in the Bank, you’re set. Pretty much 99% of the people who have cashed in that brief case have won.And for people who don’t know Money in the Bank, basically you have a contract to be able to challenge for [the] title at any time, and that’s a huge advantage. To put that on the line, it’s almost like another championship, so Ithink that’s going to be a great match. I know Dolph and Cena are two guys that definitely despise each other and that always makes for a great match. The Big Show and Sheamus – two brawlers who have been going at it for a couple of months and they have a chairs match. You put a chair in hands of a guy like Sheamus, it’s probably not good news, even if you are 7 feet, 500 pounds like the Big Show. Like I said, there’s a lot of great matches. You’ve got the Shield taking on Ryback and Team Hell No in a TLC match. It’s going to be a great pay-per-view all around. I can’t get excited enough to let people know. And being in the Barclays is going to be awesome, because obviously this is a brand new arena. I know a lot of people have been looking forward to being there. It’s going to be great all around.”

Why CM Punk Isn’t Competing At WWE’s TLC Pay-Per-View, The Rock To Chat With Fans On Sunday

    – After undergoing immediate knee surgery Tuesday and being released from the hospital late in the evening, WWE Champion CM Punk was telling people close to him that he felt excellent. Punk contacted WWE officials and informed them he would be able to compete against Ryback at TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs. Management, however, felt otherwise, stating it would be best if he did not compete at the pay-per-view event. They wanted him to bow out of the show and rest as to not jeopardize bigger, upcoming matches.

Punk will continue to appear on WWE programming while he heals.

    – Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be chatting with fans Sunday afternoon via Twitter.
