  • Stratus Says Chyna Should Go In HOF, Calls Natalya “Untapped”

IGN.com features an interview with multi-time WWE Women’s Champion Trish Stratus promoting the USA Network’s revival of Tough Enough, who appears as a trainer on the show. She notes that many of the contestants have previous wrestling experience.

“A lot of the contestants have a background,” Stratus said. “They come from wrestling backgrounds. They’ve been doing it for a few years, but it’s an entirely different thing to be doing it on the big stage and to do it professionally and to do it with the grind of the big WWE machine.”

Stratus said of current WWE talent, Natalya is “untapped.”

In light of Sunny’s induction into this year’s WWE Hall of Fame class, Stratus suggested that Chyna be enshrined next.

“I think Chyna should be next in because she did a lot of stuff to bring attention to the women’s division itself and just presented women as a different thing,” Stratus said. “I think fans were conditioned to see women as eye candy for a long, long time and she really broke the mold with that.”

Stratus also discusses her favorite opponent, her favorite WrestleMania match, incorporating yoga into the Tough Enough contestants’ warming up regimen, as well as the program. The article can be read here.

  • JR Responds To ‘Mania Rumors, Tough Enough Drama

    — Jim Ross has responded to yesterday’s report that current creative plans call for him to announce at least two matches at WrestleMania XXVII.

“I find it interesting that so many websites know my wm27 role, allegedly, and I don’t. ‘Net rumors= news items. Irresponsible ‘reporting’,” he wrote on Twitter. “My role at WM27 is to appear @ Axxess. NOTHING else has been confirmed. ‘Net sites should tell me the outcome of my Drs visit later 2day.”

Tough Enough contestants Christina Crawford and Andy Leavine were under contract to WWE when they were tapped for the USA Network reality show last month. There has been some grumbling on the set of the two being ‘ringers’ (ie. somebody with experience being placed in a situation with amateurs) due to their recent association with WWE’s developmental system.

    — According to sources within WWE, the revival of Tough Enough is being labeled as a reality television show about individuals who want to become WWE Superstars rather than a reality show about professional wrestling. • Latest On Benjamin To WWE, FCW Diva On “Tough Enough”?

    — Shelton Benjamin worked a dark match prior to this week’s SmackDown taping in Houston, Texas, beating SmackDown Superstar Curt Hawkins. The feeling is that based on how well he performed and the solid reaction he received from the hometown crowd, he will receive an offer to return to the organization after WrestleMania XXVII.

Follow the match, Benjamin said on Twitter that he ‘may or may not be returning to WWE’.

    — A joke going around WWE regarding Vince McMahon’s doctrine that The Undertaker’s match with Triple H at WrestleMania X-Seven never happened, is that the SmackDown star’s undefeated streak should be 17-0.

    — According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE developmental wrestler Su Yung (a/k/a Sonia) is among the cast of Tough Enough. However, her profile remains on the official website Florida Championship Wrestling, which would indicate that she is not.
