Nic Nemeth to Challenge for the TNA World Title Next Month

Popular free agent Nic Nemeth has quickly made an impact in TNA Wrestling. He made his shocking debut at TNA Hard To Kill on January 13 and put the roster on notice. Two months later, the company granted him the opportunity to challenge for the TNA World Championship at their next premium live event.

On the March 14 episode of TNA Wrestling, Nemeth was involved in a tag team match alongside Speedball Mountain (‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey & Trent Seven) against The Rascalz (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz) and Steve Maclin. After Nemeth won the match, TNA World Champion Moose, Eddie Edwards, and Brian Myers attacked the ‘Babyfaces.’

Moose made sure to hit the former WWE talent with his title and celebrated as the show went off the air. After the episode ended, TNA announced on Twitter that Moose would defend the TNA World Championship against Nemeth at TNA Rebellion on April 20.

The upcoming title opportunity will be Nemeth’s second since leaving WWE. On February 23, he defeated David Finlay at New Japan Pro Wrestling The New Beginning in Sapporo to win the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship. A win over Moose would be impressive, as he would win two titles from TNA and NJPW in less than two months.

That said, Moose is still early in his reign, and TNA may not have him lose it this quickly. Nemeth is also not signed exclusively to the company, which may hurt his chances of winning the TNA World Championship. Regardless, the match has the potential to be exciting, and fans will be interested if Nemeth wins.

More Matches Announced For TNA Rebellion

Although TNA announced Moose’s next championship defense, they had another match to make official. On Twitter, TNA shared that Edwards and Myers would defend the TNA World Tag Team Championship against Speedball Mountain at the next PLE.

Speedball Mountain has been building momentum as a team, so it seemed like a matter of time before they earned a title opportunity. Edwards and Myers won their championship at TNA Sacrifice on March 8 by defeating ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey). It may be early for another title change, but Speedball Mountain will present an exciting challenge at TNA Rebellion.

The upcoming PLE looks like an interesting show that fans may not want to miss. Nemeth will have a chance to make history by winning his first TNA World Championship.

(Spoiler) Former WWE NXT Tag Team Champion Debuts for AEW

Note: This article contains SPOILERS for this week’s AEW Rampage! If you want to go in completely blind, we suggest clicking on one of our other articles.

A former WWE NXT Tag Team Champion is set to make their debut this week for AEW as part of Rampage.

After this week’s AEW Dynamite went off the air, the promotion filmed its Rampage tapings, which saw the debut of Trent Seven.

Seven made his AEW debut by challenging AEW All-Atlantic Champion Orange Cassidy, and was hand-picked by Kip Sabian.

Unfortunately for Seven, he was unsuccessful in dethroning Freshly Squeezed, and there has been no word on whether there are plans for future appearances.

This match marked Cassidy’s seventh title defense since becoming champion on the October 12, 2022 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Trent Seven in WWE

After establishing himself on the independents, Seven signed with WWE in 2016, and was considered a favorite of many to win the tournament to crown the inaugural WWE United Kingdom Champion.

Seven was eliminated in the quarter-finals, but would often find himself challenging for the title, but never won.

In June 2018, Seven and Tyler Bate won the NXT Tag Team Championships from the Undisputed Era, but lost the titles back to the faction days later.

In December of last year, the two would capture the NXT UK Tag Titles and would hold the gold until June 2022, losing to Ashton Smith and Oliver Carter.

Seven would turn heel on Bate not long after, but would be released on August 18, 2022.

Trent Seven Talks RAW, SmackDown and Wanting WrestleMania Match

NXT UK and former PROGRESS, Fight Club:PRO Superstar Trent Seven recently appeared on the Gorilla Position podcast. The WWE Superstar discussed a number of topics during his time on the show; including his Moustache Mountain partner Tyler Bate, the BT Sport studio and possibly moving to RAW or SmackDown.

Trent Seven on WWE & WrestleMania

“I suppose I can try and spin as many plates as I can” Trent Seven began on the show, after being asked if he wants to appear on RAW and SmackDown and represent the British style of wrestling.

“Also by focusing on making sure British wrestling is represented at the highest level” Seven would continue. “That may mean going to NXT in America, that may mean going to SmackDown, it may mean going to RAW. Obviously those kind of opportunities you can’t turn down.”

Trent Seven would then describe how the opportunity to appear at WrestleMania is one of his major goals in WWE. “I feel like if you’re a professional wrestler, especially within the WWE? If your goal is not to be on a WrestleMania card at some point in your career? I find it hard to relate to anyone who wouldn’t want that. Very rarely do I meet those people.”

British Wrestling Legends

Seven would finish by saying how he wants to be remembered as a legend of the British wrestling scene. “The one thing that I always keep in mind is now look back, 20-30 years ago? We look back at the people, the incredible names that have come from British wrestling. Davey Boy Smith, William Regal, Rollerball Rocco, Johnny Saint etc, the list goes on and on and on.”

“The thing that really is motivating to me at the moment? That in 20-30 years time from now, who are the British legends going to be?” Seven would continue. “Now I need them to be me. I want them to be Tyler Bate and I want them to be Pete Dunne. Obviously there’s a plethora of other guys, but I’m focusing on myself at the moment.”

“At the minute there’s no Moustache Mountain (Seven’s tag team with Tyler Bate) right now, and no British Strong Style (Seven’s stable with Bate and Pete Dunne). That’s something that’s been a major driving force for me [being remembered as a British legend].”

NXT UK Star Says BT Sport Studios Will Have ‘Indie Hotbed’ Feel When Fans Return

Trent Seven on BT Sport Studios and NXT UK

“It’s been a very, very bizarre last few months” Trent Seven would begin on the show. “But I just wanted to, on that note…the work that has been put in? Between the staff at NXT UK, WWE and BT Sport? It has been second to none.”

NXT UK moved to BT Sport Studios for the ‘relaunch’ of the weekly show. The COVID-19 pandemic initially meant that there were months without new content for NXT UK, however WWE’s ‘new’ UK television partner BT Sport would offer their in-house studio to host the weekly program.

The show now also has screens featuring WWE fans watching from home. This gives the effect of WWE’s ThunderDome, but at a much smaller scale.

“That studio is, oh it’s absolutely incredible” Trent Seven would continue. “And I for one just can’t wait to see the day when there’s fans in there. Because it’s going to be an absolute…it’s going to be a real kind of independent vibe, kind of a hotbed, but with the production value of WWE. [It’ll have] a world class studio level, so very exciting times on the horizon, I think.”

The UK wrestling scene hit a boom period during the last decade. The likes of Seven, Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne were a huge part of the scene, headlining events for the likes of the aforementioned PROGRESS, FCP and RIPTIDE Wrestling.

Trent Seven Explains Why WWE Is “The Complete Package”

NXT UK Superstar Trent Seven has spoken about WWE’s entertainment diversity in a recent interview with The Mirror. During the interview, Seven shared his belief that WWE offers “the complete package.”

Seven explained how everyone approaches wrestling from a different angle, depending on what you grew up with. He noted how if you grew up watching wrestlers like Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks, “you might see it [WWE’s current product] as the most amazing thing the you have ever watched.”

He juxtaposed this with fans who may be more traditional, preferring the more competitive shoot-style matches. For Seven, however, WWE can offer something for everyone:

“I believe that now, the product that we offer, from WWE to NXT UK, there’s such a complete range of entertainment that I don’t think it can be pigeonholed,” Seven explained. “WWE is the complete package as far as entertainment goes.”

Trent Seven Compares WWE To John Wick

During the interview, Seven was asked about those who point that wrestling is scripted. The NXT UK Superstar compared the wrestling industry to Hollywood, noting how he watches movies as a “form of entertainment.”

“I don’t go into a movie like John Wick pretending that it’s real, and that’s the whole point. I go into it as a form of entertainment. I believe as far as professional wrestling goes, there isn’t a more complete form of entertainment.”

Trent Seven recently appeared on an episode of WWE’s black-and-gold brand, NXT. He competed in a losing effort to Finn Balor.

Trent Seven Reflects On Taking Pride In NXT UK, Kyle O’Reilly Helping Him Broaden His Wrestling Horizons

Trent Seven was a recent guest on the popular podcast, E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness.

During his discussion with hosts, Edge and Christian, Seven addressed taking pride in performing for NXT UK. He also spoke about which wrestler helped him when it came to understanding wrestling on a deeper level.

When asked how he felt about NXT UK being WWE’s first international brand, Seven responded that there is a “massive amount of pride.”

“You can feel it through the product as well, especially in the in-ring performances you see on the Network,” he siad. “There’s a lot of pride. It kind of feels sometimes when you look back that it’s almost like your life’s work.”

“Just being the first-ever extension of the North American arm of it as well… It all came around very sharp, and there was a bit of a detour as people were working out the logistics and how it was gonna work. Hats off to Tyler and Pete for putting on the caliber of matches and claiming that title the way they did. It’s a very proud thing to look back on and obviously to carry on with.”

Broadening Horizons

When it comes to pushing himself in the ring, Seven credits Undisputed Era’s Kyle O’Reilly as the man to help him broaden his horizons.

“The first person that comes to mind is Kyle O’Reilly. This was about 2011, I think he’d been wrestling for about a year at that time. He came over as a recommendation from Davey Richards. At that time, I was living and working as a manager of a pub. He was the first international or ‘real’ wrestler I’ve ever wrestled.”

Trent recalled a tumultuous time having to find a new venue for a show he was putting on after the previous site canceled 24 hours previously. After having miraculously secured a new place, his match with O’Reilly would be the first time he ever called a bout in the ring.

“I’ve always heard of these veterans saying ‘we’ll call it out in the ring’ and I was like ‘you’re full of it, no one’s ever done that.’ We went out there and he just battered me for about 25 minutes, and somehow, someway, it just kind of clicked for me. ‘Oh, this is actually wrestling.'”

Trent Seven is currently involved in a feud with WALTER and his stable, Imperium. He recently challenged WALTER to a matchup, claiming that he didn’t care whether the WWE United Kingdom Championship was on the line or not.

NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff will take place on August 31st from the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff in Cardiff, Wales.

PROGRESS Confirms Champion vs Champion Match for Super Strong Style 16

PROGRESS Wrestling has announced a huge Champion vs Champion bout for Super Strong Style 16. NXT UK Superstars Trent Seven and WALTER will be colliding on Day 2 of the weekender on May 5th. The 3 day event takes place on May 4th, 5th and 6th from Alexandra Palace in London, England.

The match was teased as part of the recent Chapter event but is now officially confirmed. Trent Seven won his ATLAS Championship as part of last year’s Wembley Arena show.

Seven defeated Doug Williams to retire the UK legend and become the new Champion. WALTER also won his PROGRESS World Championship last year against Travis Banks.

The Austrian Powerhouse also retained his belt against Seven’s British Strong Style stablemate Tyler Bate at the Wembley Arena show last year.

With both men playing a heavy part in the NXT UK brand it will interesting to see who walks away with the two belts. There is a very good chance that WALTER comes out victorious as British Strong Style are being rumored for a call up to the NXT brand in the United States. Pete Dunne, Trent Seven and Tyler Bate are arguably the biggest stars on NXT UK and are a big hit when they venture West to perform on cards in the USA.

First Ever NXT UK Tag Team Champions Crowned

NXT UK’s first ever Takeover event is currently underway. The first bout of the night saw the crowning of the first ever NXT United Kingdom Tag Team Champions. Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate and Trent Seven) faced the Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) to determine the inaugural Champions.

The rampant crowd in Blackpool were firmly behind Bate and Seven. The Grizzled Young Veterans (Gibson especially) are the most hated Superstars on the UK scene right now and it made for an electric match.

The Grizzled Young Veterans took the win after hitting their tandem Ticket To Mayhem move on Trent Seven. This came after Drake hit a huge middle rope suicide dive to Bate who was on Gibson’s shoulders. Seven attempted his own suicide dive but Drake cut him off with a dropkick in mid air.

Backstage after the win, Triple H congratulated Drake and Gibson on making history.

Check out this video of Zack Gibson and James Drake reacting to their big win:

British Strong Style Confirms WWE NXT UK Performance Center (Video)

With their ultimate intent being to create developmental systems worldwide that can then feed into their main roster programming, WWE have continued their global expansion efforts, launching new iterations of their NXT brand globally. The first of these was WWE NXT UK.

One thing these international versions lacked compared to Florida, however, was an equivalent to their beautiful state-of-the-art Performance Center.

This morning on British morning television, the WWE NXT UK team of British Strong Style (NXT UK Champion, Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Trent Seven) appeared on the show, Good Morning Britain, and officially announced that the UK now has one to call their own.

The trio was there in order to speak about this Saturday’s upcoming NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool event.
When speaking on the upcoming show, one of GMB’s hosts likened WWE’s UK effort as a set-up “training camp” for the UK. Seven then divulged that NXT UK now has their own PC, stating, “[…] we’re going to be able to go straight from here to our secret location, our new NXT UK Performance Center just after this.”

“The fact that we get to go back, the fact that we’ve had this investment, […] it’s pretty exciting,” Seven said.

You can watch the video in the tweet below, which has already been re-tweeted by Triple H.

Seven is the ATLAS Champion in PROGRESS. The ATLAS title was designed as a belt for the over 205 pound stars in PROGRESS. Trent Seven won the title at PROGRESS’ Wembley Arena show in September against Doug Williams. The British legend Williams was forced to retire per the stipulation of the match after Seven pinned him with a cross-body.

Zack Gibson was the challenger for the belt in Brighton. Seven took the win and successfully defended the Championship. Trent is due to defend his title today in PROGRESS’ Chapter 78 event ’24 Hour PROGRESS People’ at the O2 Ritz in Manchester.

PROGRESS Wrestling has also announced a top international bout for Chapter 78.

wXw Unified Champion Ilja Dragunov will be heading to the O2 Ritz on November 11th to take on ‘The Product’ David Starr.

This will be Dragunov’s second bout for the UK promotion. Former promoter of Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) Christian Michael Jakobi appeared during PROGRESS Wrestling’s Super Strong Style 16 event earlier this year and challenged the reigning WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne to a bout against the wXw World United Heavyweight Champion. This match took place at Wembley Arena and Dunne was victorious via submission.

PROGRESS Announce NXT UK Superstar for Chapter 77

PROGRESS has announced the second title bout for Chapter 77. The show will be taking place on Sunday October 28th from the Electric Ballroom in Camden, London.

ATLAS Champion Trent Seven will be appearing in an ‘open challenge’ segment. This will be Trent’s first defence of the belt since he won it at Wembley Arena. Seven defeated Doug Williams with the stipulation that Williams must retire from proffessional wrestling.

PROGRESS also recently announced the main event for their Chapter 77 event ‘Pumpkin Spice Progress.’

PROGRESS World Champion WALTER will defend his title against New Japan’s Zack Sabre Jr. ZSJ won the Super Strong Style 16 tournament earlier this year. When Zack took the coveted tournament trophy he opted to main event last weekend’s Wembley Arena event. Unfortunately New Japan had an unannounced show in Los Angeles (Fighting Spirit Unleashed) which meant that both he and Will Ospreay could not compete at Wembley. Now that Zack is free to challenge he is taking the first opportunity to do so in October.

WALTER defended his PROGRESS World Championship against Tyler Bate recently at Wembley Arena. The Ringkampf stable member put on an instant classic with Bate that earned it’s place amongst some of the greatest matches in PROGRESS history. When the former wXw Unified World Champion faces ZSJ at the Electric Ballroom in Camden he’ll hope to find more of that magic.

Tyler Bate Likes To Think He Is WWE’s Strongest Man

NXT’s Mustache Mountain, Tyler Bate and Trent Seven, recently spoke to The Mirror. Bate has shown amazing feats of strength inside the ring at times. He says he likes to think he is WWE’s strongest man:

“I like to think I’m the strongest man in WWE. It’s why I call myself the Big Strong Boi.”

Recently, WWE introduced an NXT UK Women’s Championship. Spoilers on that here. Bate said he thinks it’s a great opportunity for the women of NXT UK to show what they got:

“It’s a great opportunity for all of the women in the company to show the world what they’re made of and show everybody how good they are. I’m looking forward to everybody else getting to watch them perform and I’m sure they will do a great job.”

Quite The Comparison

At NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 Mustache Mountain failed to capture the NXT Tag Team Titles. The Undisputed Era defeated them to retain their titles. On the TakeOver panel, Pat McAfee compared Mustache Mountain to the British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid).

Trent Seven said it was very complimentary to receive such a comparison:

“Yeah, well he was very complimentary. It does make you think about just what kind of impact we can have as regards being UK and British wrestlers, having the chance to travel abroad and overseas, being able to wrestle on that stage, it’s a burden I’m more than happy to have.”

Bate sympathized with his partner’s sentiment, and believes they can live up to the pressure of such a comparison:

“Yeah it’s a lot of pressure to be compared to teams like the Bulldogs and I think Mustache Mountain can really live up to that pressure.”

Seven agreed, saying he believes it’s that kind of pressure that pushes talents to the next level:

“I agree, I think it’s that kind of pressure that really pushes people on to the next level. Our goal is to continue climbing the ladder of WWE and eventually get on the main roster but for now, let’s just keep building the brand of NXT UK.”

Trent Seven Discusses Goal Of WWE NXT UK Brand

Trent Seven discussed the current goal of the WWE NXT UK brand. The star of the brand spoke about the topic in a recent interview with The Sun in the United Kingdom.

He started out by talking about the NXT Tag Titles are still firmly in his and Tyler Bate’s sights after holding them and winning the titles at the Royal Albert Hall earlier this year from The Undisputed Era. He added that’s it’s a moment that they’ll never forget and that they will continue to try and chase it.

“We’ve got a taste for the gold now and we’ll definitely continue to try and chase it. We’re big strong boys and we’ll come back. Performing in Brooklyn has only ignited the fire.”

Seven continued by stating that they have a lot on their plates with building the NXT UK brand but the goal is to make this as big as they can.

“At the moment we have a real intimate relationship with the product as far as the size of the crowds goes, but as that builds hopefully one day we can look to do stadiums and much bigger venues.”

Seven continued by stating that he can definitely foresee a major WWE event coming to the British Isles in the very near future and believes that as long as they continue to keep working hard and impressing, they can play a part in that as it would be incredible.

What are your thoughts on Seven’s comments? Sound off in the comment section.

WWE United Kingdom Champion Announced for PROGRESS Chapter 73

PROGRESS has announced that WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne will be taking part in the company’s 73rd Chapter event ‘Fourth Shade of Green’ on Sunday 15th July from the O2 Academy in Birmingham, England.

Dunne will be teaming with his British Strong Style stablemate and fellow NXT UK roster member Trent Seven to take on the Kings of The North. This will be the first bout for the KOTN in PROGRESS in 18 months and they have one hell of a test on their return.

The third member of British Strong Style Tyler Bate will also be in action at Fourth Shade of Green. The inaugural WWE United Kingdom Champion will be challenging Travis Banks for the PROGRESS Wrestling World Championship in the main event.

All three BSS Superstars will be on hand for the upcoming NXT UK tapings which start in Cambridge later this month on July 28th.

Big Title Change At WWE NXT UK Taping From London

A big title change occurred at Tuesday’s WWE NXT UK Title Tournament taping.

The sports entertainment company held day two of the tapings at Royal Albert Hall in London, England this afternoon. This event will air on the WWE’s streaming service, WWE Network, on June 26th.

At the tapings, Tyler Bate & Trent Seven, known as Moustache Mountain, beat Undisputed ERA’s Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly to win the NXT Tag Team Titles. The win marks Bate & Seven’s first reign with the titles. WWE.com has since published a story announcing the news.

The Undisputed ERA held the titles up to this point for over 200 days as they won the straps from Sanity (Alexander Wolfe and Eric Young) back in November of 2017 during an episode of NXT on the WWE Network.

We will have full spoilers from this taping later this afternoon.

WWE United Kingdom Superstar Challenging for Gender Neutral Title

WWE United Kingdom roster member and former PROGRESS Wrestling Tag Team Champion Trent Seven will be challenging for the Over The Top (OTT) Wrestling Gender Neutral Championship this June.

The Moustache Mountain and British Strong Style stable member will be heading to Ireland’s Tivoli Theatre on June 2nd to face current reigning Champion LJ Cleary as well as Pro Wrestling: EVE’s Kris Wolf.

Seven is not the first WWE UK contracted performer to be linked to the newly established title…WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne was also locked in to challenge for the belt against then Champion ‘Session Moth’ Martina before a snowstorm across the UK cancelled OTT’s event that evening.

Whilst Seven is the veteran of this bout and the most well established internationally it is unlikely that the company will be taking the title off of LJ Cleary right now, his win against ‘Session Moth’ before her move to Japan’s Stardom promotion appeared to be the catalyst for a big run for the young star and looks set to continue over the next few months.

WWE UK/NXT Superstars and Championship Bout Announced for Fight Club: Pro ‘Return of The Sendai’

UK based promotion Fight Club: Pro has made two major announcements for their upcoming ‘Return of The Sendai’ event which takes place Friday May 4th from Wolverhampton, England.

WWE United Kingdom and NXT Superstars Tyler Bate and Trent Seven will be making their return to FCP after becoming the company’s first ever Tag Team champions. ‘Moustache Mountain’ became the inaugural Tag Team title holders after competing in a 70 minute plus bout during the Dream Tag Team Invitational, their opponents for ‘Return of the Sendai’ have yet to be confirmed.

Reigning Fight Club: Pro singles Champion Meiko Satomura will be making her way to Wolverhampton to defend her belt against the man she defeated for the crown. CCK leader Chris Brookes will be looking to reclaim the title after losing to the Japanese legend in one of the featured bouts from FCP’s Dream Tag Invitational. Satomura also successfully defended the belt during WrestleMania weekend at the ‘Pancakes and Piledrivers’ show co-hosted by AAW/Revolver Wrestling and Fight Club; Satomura defeated both Jessicka Havok and Kimber Lee to keep hold of the Championship.

Satomura is the co-founder of the famed Sendai Girls promotion, she has performed across the globe for the likes of Gaea Japan, WCW and Chikara.

Trent Seven & Tyler Bate Take Part in a 71 Minute Match and Break Record

This past weekend saw UK promotion Fight Club: Pro hold their biggest ever events. The 3 day Dream Tag Team Invitational (DTTI) took place in Manchester, Wolverhampton and Birmingham’s NEC arena to a huge attendance on each night.

The second night of the weekender took place at Manchester’s Academy One venue and featured a DTTI bout between Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate) and Gentleman’s Club (Chuck Taylor & Orange Cassidy) which clocked in at 71 minutes and 25 seconds making it the longest ‘traditional’ tag team match in recorded history. There are several tag matches that exceed this time however they are all 8 or 16 man bouts.

The two teams agreed to make the match a ‘Falls Count Anywhere’ contest and began to fight outside of the arena and into Manchester itself…they returned around intermission and sold merchandise briefly before again continuing the match. One of the Gentleman’s Club members ‘Swamp Monster’ appeared to help the team but this turned out to be WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne who proceeded to beat down the GC and help his British Strong Style stablemates get the win and advance in the tournament.

You can see just a small portion of the chaos that Moustache Mountain and GC caused below:
