Sting vs. Triple H Rumored For WrestleMania, Update On The Rock & Undertaker

Following Sting’s WWE debut at Sunday’s Survivor Series pay-per-view, where he gave Triple H a Scorpion Death Drop and cost Team Authority their jobs, there’s already some buzz behind the scenes that the two legends will square off at WrestleMania 31.

Just a few weeks ago, The Rock and Triple H were teasing a WrestleMania match at the SmackDown 15th Anniversary special. With The Rock busy schedule shooting movies, it seems unlikely that he’ll be getting back in the ring next March. WWE kicking off a feud between Sting & Triple H seems to support the notion that Rock won’t be available during WrestleMania season.

While The Undertaker’s in-ring future is still unknown, Sting working with Triple H could be a sign that Taker has yet to commit to wrestling at WrestleMania 31.

5 Predictions Following Survivor Series

Last night’s Survivor Series was full of surprises. From title changes to a devastating Scorpion Death Drop, the event pretty much had it all. However, it left many questions regarding the future of the storyline, especially now that the Authority is no longer in power. Here are five paths I believe the company will take in the coming weeks.

5. Ryback Fades to the Midcard

ryback-ses-2

Let me start by saying that last night’s main event was impeccably booked. From Cena exiting early to Ziggler selling to hell out of his beating to Sting’s entertaining debut, they did pretty much everything right.

However, their one mistake was having Ryback eliminated minutes into the contest. He was the biggest story in the weeks leading up to the event, but played essentially no role in the actual match. Unfortunately for Ryback, it looks like he was simply being used as a crutch while the company waits for others to return. After Reigns, Lesnar, and Barrett return to television, the Big Guy will once again be an afterthought.

Sting finally made his WWE debut at Survivor Series, appearing at the end of the Team Authority vs. Team Cena main event.

With Dolph Ziggler and Seth Rollins the final two men remaining, WWE COO Triple H took matters into his own hands. The Game attacked Dolph Ziggler and delivered a pedigree. Just as it looked like the members of Team Cena were about to be unemployed, the lights dimmed and the sound of a crow could be heard.

Sting delivered a Scorpion Death Drop to Triple H, put Ziggler on top of Rollins as the refere counted the three for Team Cena.

  • Spoiler Update On New Stipulation For WWE Survivor Series Main Event

As we wrote earlier this week, Triple H announced at the WWE SmackDown television taping on Tuesday night that all of the members of “Team Cena” would be fired if they lost the traditional elimination match at this Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view..

As it turns out, the stipulation is actually one that will see all of the “Team Cena” members get fired — except for John Cena himself — if the team loses to “Team Authority” at this Sunday’s pay-per-view main event.

Apparently Triple H said that Cena is still valuable to WWE, while his team members, Ryback, Big Show, Dolph Ziggler and Erick Rowan, are replaceable.

  • Rey Mysterio Returning To WWE: Details On His In-Ring Future

Regarding Rey Mysterio’s backstage meeting with Vince McMahon and Triple H at the WWE RAW taping in Buffalo, New York a few weeks ago, it’s said that nothing definitive came out of it other than Vince wanting to get Mysterio back in a WWE ring.

While many assume Triple H is running things within WWE these days, it was said to be pretty clear that the Mysterio meeting was a Vince meeting and it was Vince running the show in that regard.

There is a belief within WWE that a compromise will be made soon that will see Mysterio make a return, working regularly between now and WrestleMania 31. His current contract is set to expire in late-April.

WWE officials have reportedly asked Mysterio to work more dates than most think he should.

  • If There Was Ever An Awful Time For A 10-Person PPV Main Event …

If there was ever an awful time for a ten-person pay-per-view main event … this is it.

Why WWE is choosing to run with a ten-person elimination match for the upcoming Survivor Series show is completely beyond me. At this point in time, the depth among WWE’s roster is at one of the lowest that I can ever recall.

With top stars such as Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns on the shelf, and guys like CM Punk leaving at the peak of their popularity and Brock Lesnar working infrequently, WWE is left with very little at the top of the card. The only positive is that it forces them to move guys up the ladder at a faster rate than they normally might do.

With that being said, and I’m well aware that it’s a tradition to have multi-person elimination matches at Survivor Series, but I just can’t fathom why WWE is running with that concept this year, considering the state of their roster.

There’s been plenty of times in the past where they abandoned the elimination match concept at Survivor Series, so it’s not like something they have to make work because they do it every single year.

Regardless, that’s the direction we’re headed this year.

Having said that, one has to wonder how Survivor Series will come off later this month. WWE has put on some pretty solid pay-per-view shows in recent months, but I’ve got my reservations as to how well this show will come off in two weeks.

With pretty much all of the top guys either injured or involved in the main event, what is the rest of the show going to look like? Outside of Bray Wyatt vs. Dean Ambrose, thus far there’s virtually nothing on the Survivor Series undercard that I’m looking forward to.

Sure, Adam Rose vs. The Bunny will no doubt be an instant ring classic, but I digress.

All kidding aside, what’s left for the Survivor Series undercard? How many people that matter that aren’t tied up in the main event are left? The answer — not many.

It will be interesting to watch as the card continues to take shape in the final week of television next week leading up to the event.

By the way, if the stipulation in the Survivor Series main event has The Authority losing power if “Team Authority” loses the ten-man elimination main event, why isn’t Triple H trading his suit in for a pair of tights?

    Beats me.

You would think with so much on the line, “The Game” would take matters into his own hands, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. Unless I’m missing something, however, I guess it’s still possible, as last I checked there is one spot yet to be filled on the heel team. One would assume Triple H will fill that spot, although I haven’t seen any hints aimed in that direction.

While the roster is badly in need of some more depth right now, it is refreshing to know that the talent pool in developmental is as deep — if not deeper — than the current main roster in terms of promising young talent.

I can’t wait for guys like KENTA (Hideo Itami), Kevin Steen (Kevin Owens), Prince Devitt (Finn Balor), Sami Zayn, Adrian Neville, Tyler Breeze and The Ascension to get their chance to make a splash on the main roster.

Look at some of the recent call-ups from NXT and how they are performing on the main roster. Guys like Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt and others are among WWE’s absolute top-tier performers these days. If WWE brings in guys like the names I just mentioned the way those guys were, as opposed to say, the way Adam Rose and Bo Dallas were brought up, the WWE main roster could be quite the group this time next year.

If and when that day comes, WWE can put on as many ten-man elimination matches as they’d like. For now, however, it just boggles my mind that they are choosing to do so with the roster in the state that it’s in.

*Spoilers* WWE SmackDown Taping Results For November 14, 2014

The following are complete spoiler results of the WWE SmackDown taping from Liverpool, England.

    – Chris Jericho opens up the WWE SmackDown taping for this week. He comes out to a huge pop from the Liverpool audience. It’s time for the “Highlight Reel” segment. Jericho’s guests, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, make their way out to the ring. The fans break out in a “Where’s Our Network?!” chant, much like at Monday’s RAW, which was also taped in Liverpool, England. Not a lot of details about what was said, just that this was apparently a really good segment.

    – Vince McMahon came out of nowhere and cut a promo at the top of the stage. He came out after some more “Where’s Our Network?!” chants broke out. He insulted the fans in attendance, saying that Liverpool sounds like a “skin disease.” This was apparently a dark segment that won’t air as part of the broadcast this Friday night. For a photo of Vince at the SmackDown taping in Liverpool, click here.

    – Bray Wyatt def. Sin Cara in what was basically a brief squash match. Wyatt dominated from bell-to-bell, picking up the win with his “Sister Abigail” finisher for the 1-2-3. After the match, Wyatt cut a promo, which prompted Dean Ambrose to come out. Wyatt fled the scene before Ambrose could get to him. The segment ended with Wyatt at the top of the stage laughing at Ambrose.

    – Goldust and Stardust def. Adam Rose and The Bunny in tag-team action. This was said to be a decent match, but mostly a comedy bout. They teased more issues between Rose and The Bunny.

  • Spoiler: WWE Teasing Huge Potential Main Event For WrestleMania 31

On this week’s edition of WWE SmackDown, there will be a backstage segment involving The Rock, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. The segment sees Rock and HHH going back-and-forth over who would win if they wrestled again, including each guy taking shots at the other.

Apparently this was a tease for a potential WrestleMania 31 main event between Rock and Hunter. A match between the two was actually discussed at one point for WrestleMania XXX, but obviously ended up not happening.

During the segment taped for Friday’s SmackDown, The Rock actually brought up the main event of WrestleMania 31 and WWE generally does not tease something that big if it’s not in the plans.

  • VIDEO: Triple H Talks About Fans Enjoying NXT More Than Main WWE Product

Triple H recently spoke to SIRIUS/XM host Sam Roberts and responded to the topic of fans seemingly enjoying the NXT product more so than the main WWE roster product.

“At the end of the day down here, I take the talent that I have and I try to write the best show,” Triple H said. “I try to write a show that I want to watch, and that’s all I do. People can say, ‘Oh, the difference in the shows.’ Listen, if I had to write a three-hour show ever week? You know, I don’t, I have to write a one hour show.”

HHH continued, “The pressure is a lot different. There’s a lot of masters that have to be served – Raw and Smackdown and all of those things. I’m flattered that people love the product. I think it’s great. I’m excited for these kids. At the end of the day, the goal is still to get them up to the main roster, but the bigger I can make the platform for them to jump off onto that main roster, the better it is.”

  • Ranking Every Hell in a Cell Pay-Per-View

Once an occasional treat for the WWE Universe, the Hell in a Cell match has become a yearly event since the introduction of the eponymous pay-per-view in 2009. Since its inception, the company has yet to truly knock it out of the park with Hell in a Cell, although fans have witnessed some memorable moments.

This year, it will be either John Cena or Dean Ambrose headlining the event against Seth Rollins inside the most ominous structure in sports entertainment. As the company builds up its next pay-per-view, here is a look back at the first five Hell in a Cell events.

    5. 2012

    20120920_hiac_ARTICLE

This event really didn’t have a pay-per-view feel to it. The undercard was primarily filled with forgettable matches that had little impact on future storylines. The main event was also lacking due to injury.

It was clear that the company had no idea what to do after John Cena went down to injury, leading to Ryback receiving a premature main event push. From top to bottom, this event was lacking and easily locks up the honor of being the worst Hell in a Cell pay-per-view to date.

Main Event: CM Punk vs. Ryback (Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE Championship)

Best Match: Big Show vs. Sheamus

Worst Match: Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara vs. The Prime Time Players

Two Top Matches Confirmed For Upcoming WWE Hell In A Cell PPV

As has been rumored for a while, WWE finally confirmed two of the top matches scheduled for the upcoming WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view.

At the end of Monday’s edition of RAW at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, it was announced by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon that at the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view, John Cena vs. Dean Ambrose will take place, with the winner earning the right to face Seth Rollins in an actual Hell In A Cell match later on in the pay-per-view.

  • 5 Potential Opponents for Steve Austin

Over the past few weeks, the WWE has gone all out in promoting Stone Cold Steve Austin. The company has promoted Austin’s podcast on a weekly basis, and reports indicate that the company is ramping up production on all Stone Cold merchandise.

When coupled with recent statements from Austin claiming he still has a final run left and reports alleging that he has been training for one final match, it seems like the Texas Rattlesnake will soon make his return to the squared circle. The only problem, however, would be choosing Austin’s opponent. Here are five potential opponents for Stone Cold Steve Austin if he decides to make his return.

    5. Brock Lesnar

    0b13cf9fb05ed647966a8b26ccc5f901

It appears that Lesnar is being saved for WrestleMania, where he will undoubtedly be fed to Roman Reigns. However, there is always a chance for a setback in Roman’s recovery. Most believe that it will be at least another month or two before Reigns returns, so the slightest setback could derail the company’s WrestleMania plans.

This could open the door for Austin to come in and challenge Lesnar. There is a decent story in place if the company decides to discuss Austin walking out in the early 2000s because he was not on board with putting Lesnar over. In all, this could be a blockbuster main event between two of the biggest stars in WWE history.

Bill DeMott On How HHH Challenges Developmental Staff, NXT, WWE 2K15 & More

The following are highlights of a new Sporting News interview with Bill DeMott:

On being the head trainer and working with NXT talent: “I love this company. This is fun. We get to come here and challenge ourselves every day with up to 70 men and women at any time and challenge each other to be better and to make a statement. There’s a sign over there: you’re not here to fill a spot, you’re here to take a spot. That’s fun when you’re challenging your own team for more. We challenge the main roster on a weekly basis. We’re letting John Cena know. We’re letting Randy (Orton) know. We’re letting Roman (Reigns) know … you came from here and we’re right behind you. I have a smile on my face because we let everyone know. Triple H challenges us to find the next one and how do we make it better and give everyone an opportunity. That’s a cool challenge. Not a job, it’s a challenge.”

On the WWE Performance Center being in the “My Career” mode in the WWE 2K15 game: “It’s unbelievable. It’s the red wall. You see our banners. You see the seven rings. You’re in the performance center with us, with me, and that’s an honor. I love the fact that the performance center is represented and I get to represent that. That side of what these superstars do to become NXT superstars and to WWE superstars and to WrestleMania.”
