Penta El Zero M Superkicks Tay Conti Into Oblivion (Video)

Tay Conti has learned that you don’t mess with Penta El Zero M.

AAA held its TripleMania: Monterrey event this past Saturday night (April 30). Tay was in action on the show. She teamed with Sammy Guevara to take on Los Vipers, Maravilla and Látigo, and Sexy Star II and Komander. The AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship was on the line.

In the end, Tay and Sammy won to capture the gold.

Tay didn’t walk away unscathed, however. At one point, she found herself on the wrong end of a superkick courtesy of Penta El Zero M.

AAA TripleMania Results: El Hijo Del Fantasma Unmasked

The biggest event of the year for AAA Lucha Libre took place last night. The promotion presented TripleMania XXVI from the Arena Ciudad in Mexico City, Mexico.

The main event featured a 4-way cage match which guaranteed one luchador would lose their mask. The rules were that 4 luchadors would start in the cage and once two had escaped, the remaining two would wrestle a single’s match. The loser of that match would be forced to unmask.

Below is the press release AAA issued to explain what went wrong:

Rey Mysterio Says His Health Is Incredible, Hypes TripleMania Match With Myzteziz

Former WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio was a guest on The LAW this past week to promote Sunday’s TripleMania PPV. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

His match against Myzteziz this Sunday:

“I definitely think this is something that not only we wanted but the fans demanded. I think it will define our legacy. We both have similarities in our styles, in our outfit… Over the years he has spoke highly about how he has admired my career for so long. I saw him wrestle in Mexico & many times on TV & he was the future of Mexican wrestling at the time. It’s definitely a dream match – without a doubt. I know we’re gonna go out there & put everything on the line & give the fans exactly what they deserve.”

His health:

“It’s incredible. I’ve had a lot of time to heal up & my body is actually thanking me now for getting that opportunity to rest – to strengthen up my quads from all the damage over the years on my left knee. My right knee – thank God, knock on wood – it’s in great condition. Now I’ve just gotta stay in shape & keep doing what I love but on my own terms – not like in the early 30’s.”

The LAW: Live Audio Wrestling can be heard every Sunday night at 11pm ET on TSN 1050 Toronto, TSN 1410 Vancouver, SiriusXM 167 and online at liveaudiowrestling.com.

Rey Mysterio Reveals Why He Left WWE

Rey Mysterio spoke to Channel Guide Magazine this week to promote AAA’s upcoming TripleMania 23 PPV on August 9th, where he’ll have his first-ever match against Myzteziz (the original Sin Cara in WWE).

Rey spoke about enjoying his freedom since leaving WWE earlier this year, which was a major factor in his decision to leave.

“I wanted my family time before anything else. Family to me comes first, especially now in this stage of my career. I knew that I wasn’t going to have a strong commitment to another company if I was going to sign with someone else. I wanted to do something on my own terms and call my own shots. That time came. I’m doing a couple of events for AAA and independent work. Not too much wresting, but signings and appearances. I think the second major factor in this is I have been on the grind doing this for 25 years. So my body needed to rest without a doubt.”

Regarding his upcoming ‘dream match’ with Myzteziz, Mysterio says fans have been wondering which of them is the top luchador in the world and it’s time to answer that question.

“I think there is a lot of similarities and comparisons to me and him,” Mysterio said. “There is a certain similarity with the style. Here is where the rumors take place with the contact lenses. There were rumors he had said I was copying it from him. At the end of the day he is a great performer. I admire him for his skills. I think once Mexico had stars taken away from AAA like Psicosis, Juventud Guerrera, Konnan and myself. We all took our careers into WCW and many in WWE.

“This new star was born. Now there is talk who is better. It’s a dream match. After all the gossip and rumors, this match is finally happening. It’s due to the fans that saw something in each of us. It’s time to show who is the best.”

There’s much more, including Rey’s thoughts on wrestling for AAA and his desire to branch out into acting and even comic books. To read the full interview, visit ChannelGuideMagBlog.com.

Since 1992, Triplemanía has been the stage for some of Lucha Libre’s most spectacular rivalries and matches and this year is no different. For the first-time ever, Rey Mysterio Jr. will wrestle Myzteziz in a dream match between two of the most gifted and iconic masked luchadores of this era.

In a match fueled by national pride, AAA Mega Champion Alberto El Patron defends the honor of Mexico against America’s Brian Cage in a hair match.

“We hope that all of our viewers will enjoy the high pace lucha that AAA has to offer. It is exciting times for Lucha in North American and AAA wants to give to the audience a new option in the wrestling industry,” AAA General Manager Joaquín Roldán said.

“AAA is one of the hottest Latin sports media brands with a growing global presence. Triplemanía XXIII on pay-per-view is a major step for AAA’s global strategy. The show is scheduled to air from 7-10pm EST. live on all of the major pay-per-view carriers, including In Demand, Dish Network, DirecTV, Bell Canada Satellite and Rogers.

Jeff Jarrett On Possibly Bringing AAA’s TripleMania To U.S. PPV

The following are highlights of a new Squared Circle Gazette interview with Jeff Jarrett:

On the possibility of bringing AAA’s TripleMania show to North American Pay-Per-View: “We have our contracts in place with the Pay-Per-View distributors…You mention TripleMania – I’m in discussions with multiple international partners to bring their products to the North American and now the global audience via the Flipps App. So yes, to answer your question, yes, we are in discussions on bringing in other international shows to Pay-Per-View other than New Japan”

On whether he feels that traditional Pay-Per-View is a dying business model: “When you try twelve a year, absolutely. And yes, everything is going online obviously. But you know, UFC…Floyd Mayweather…if you ask them if Pay-Per-View is a dying breed they would laugh at you. But you have to have that special event, if you try twelve a year then the returns are not there, especially when there’s so much programming out there. In this set of circumstances, you can’t watch New Japan on a two or three hour weekly show with the same matchups. You can only see Tanahashi and Okada (and this great card) on Pay-Per-View, and that makes it can’t miss”

On the current TV landscape and if there is resistance to a new product: “We are in multiple, multiple discussions with several networks, but the right deal has to be done. My attorneys tell me that sometimes your best deals are the ones you don’t do. A guy like me, that’s hard to absorb at times. But AXS has just picked up New Japan for a 13 week run. Lucha Underground has got a run. Brand exposure is the key. To create revenues in this business, and Vince McMahon is a genius with that – his deal is fantastic with NBC Universal, but that’s just a piece of his puzzle. He has international deals, touring business, merchandise, licensing, sponsorship, his online Network. Revenue streams are broad and deep, so TV is one component of a wrestling promotion.”
