Tucker On Why Triple H Didn’t Like The Heavy Machinery Name

Otis and Tucker collectively known as Heavy Machinery were a fairly popular tag team during their time in WWE. Their names were also liked by everybody except apparently Triple H. Tucker recently had an interview with Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling. He talked about things such as his WWE release, losing weight after his firing, and more.

During the interview, the former WWE star also revealed that Triple H didn’t like the Heavy Machinery name. According to him, the game thought it was too gimmicky:

“Everybody loved the name Heavy Machinery except Triple H. From what I understand, he was not a fan of that name. He thought it was too gimmicky, I guess. I guess thinking like fat men in construction hats, but we explained that we are Heavy Machinery. It’s not a gimmick.”

‘Tank And Dozer’

Tucker continued talking about their names and revealed that the duo originally wanted to be called Tank and Dozer. However, the WWE legal team shot down the idea because they couldn’t get it trademarked:

“I wanted to be called Tank and he wanted to be called Dozer, Tank and Dozer, Heavy Machinery. That was our initial pitch, but we were told that ‘We can’t get those names. We’re not going to be able to register those names, so we can’t do it.”

Tucker and Otis formed Heavy Machinery during their NXT days back in 2016. The team split up during the WWE drafts in 2020 and Tucker was released from the company in April earlier this year.

Tucker On Vince McMahon Not Seeing Money In Tag Team Wrestling

Recently released WWE star Tucker made an appearance on the OTR Show where he discussed things such as a nixed gimmick for Heavy Machinery they had discussed and more.

There was a time in WWE when Otis won the Money In Bank briefcase. It started the speculations that he could cash it in to get a tag team title shot for The Heavy Machinery but it didn’t turn out to be the case.

When asked if this was the original plan with the MITB, Tucker replied negatively. He discussed how the boss Vince McMahon does not feel that the tag team division can draw money:

“I don’t think so, no, I’d have no idea. Just based on my thought, to me I feel like Vince doesn’t feel like the tag division can really draw money. At least that seems to be the way that they’re booked.

Even when they have a super emotional story, they might get twenty minutes at the most. They’re never getting forty minutes, they’re never going on last.”

Tucker On The Importance Of Money In The Bank

Tucker expanded on his comments mentioning how Money In The Bank is one of the biggest prop gimmicks in the company. There are very few people who have been unsuccessful with it:

“The Money in the Bank is like one of the biggest things in the company, it’s one of the biggest prop gimmicks that there is. It’s a ticket to a world title, there’s very few people that have unsuccessfully cash it.

It’s like the thing they used to catapult someone, essentially. It would be nice to think they’d use it for us to win the tag team championships, but I don’t think it was the plan. And if it was, it never got there.”

Otis won the Money In The Bank briefcase during the event of the same name in May 2020. He kept the briefcase for several months before dropping it to The Miz during the Hell In A Cell PPV in October 2020.

Tucker was signed to WWE back in 2013 and he formed a tag team with Otis in 2016. Their team broke up when they were drafted to separate brands during the 2020 drafts. Tucker was then released from his WWE contract in April 2021.

Tucker Takes a Shot at WWE’s Creative Booking of Otis and Mandy Rose

Former WWE Superstar Tucker has been vocal with his dislike of WWE’s creative booking ever since he was released from the company just over a week ago.

“IMO and obviously I have a bad taste in my mouth; but there is very little opportunity for talent to have any sense of agency over who they are and what happens on tv” Tucker said on Twitter.

“To me it’s this part of the creative process that is hurting the product the most currently;” the former member of the Heavy Machinery tag team mentioned.

Jon Alba, who also worked for WWE previously, asked Tucker if he felt this was just an issue with booking on RAW. Fans have been critical of the red brand but SmackDown and NXT have been largely favoured over the past few months.

Tucker on WWE Creative

“Personally no I didn’t find it to be any different most days” Tucker replied. “I will say there a general sense of less stress on the 2 hour show but creatively I didn’t find a difference.”

Tucker finished by naming the Otis and Mandy Rose storyline specifically. Tucker was of course part of that angle, which was a huge part of WWE programming before WrestleMania 36.

WWE would end up dropping the angle without any real conclusion, beside ‘Tucky’ turning heel and Mandy changing brands.

“Yeah or doing a story like Mandy and Otis for months with zero payoff” Tucker emphatically finished, showing his disgust at how his former tag partner was treated.

Otis on Cashing in Money In The Bank – “Sooner, The Better”

WWE Superstar Otis recently appeared on WWE’s The Bump. Mr Money In The Bank appeared on the WWE Network show to discuss a number of topics from his career. One point raised was when and how Otis plans on cashing in his MITB briefcase.

With Otis winning the contract just over a week ago, he has the opportunity to challenge for any World Championship in WWE at any time. There has been speculation that the Heavy Machinery member may be considering gifting the briefcase to Mandy Rose or even going for the Tag Team Championships with his partner Tucker.

Mr Money In The Bank Otis

“There won’t be much basking baby” Otis began the interview after being asked if he wants to enjoy the moment of having the briefcase before cashing in. “It’s a matter of my personality: sooner, the better.”

“I don’t know when but soon but sooner rather than later this bad boys getting cashed in” Otis would continue. “I don’t care if my opponent sees me coming, or sees it from the side or sees me coming from behind, which I usually never do. I’m going to keep on coming to get this.”

Elevating Careers

Otis, in his own special way, would then discuss how winning the briefcase could elevate his career massively. “Because this is what makes life better, for your situation your career. I cash this in. I don’t know what title yet, I’ve haven’t decided…my brain just does this (mimes swirling motion). you know?”

Otis would finish by re-iterating that he wants to go for a Championship as quickly as possible. “I’m going to say sooner than later, OOH YEAH, I ain’t waiting. I’ve never been a patient man I just keep going BABY.”
