Tye Dillinger Defends His Tweets About Wrestle Kingdom 12

The talk of the professional wrestling world early this morning was New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 12, which featured a highly-anticipated bout for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Title between Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho. Wrestling fans from around the world stayed up until the late hours of the night yesterday to witness the spectacular event, and one of those fans was none other than WWE Superstar Tye Dillinger.

Dillinger took to Twitter to comment on former NXT star Liger being at the event, and a fan responded to him by telling him his Tweets of another company’s product will push him further down the card on SmackDown Live. You can check out Dillinger’s response, followed by a few more Tweets on the matter, here below:

Matt Hardy Back To Using Hardy Boyz Theme (Video), Tye Dillinger Continues Heel Work At Live Events

– Last week Matt Hardy was using Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata at a live event to make his entrance for his match with Bray Wyatt. Fans believed that this would be Hardy’s new theme song for his “Woken” character on WWE TV. Plans may have changed, however, as Hardy went back to using the Hardy Boyz them at Friday’s live event in Albany. Check it out:

– We’ve noted that WWE has been teasing a Tye Dillinger heel turn soon as he has been working live events as a heel against Kalisto. At a recent live event in Hershey Dillinger was telling fans that they can’t chant “10” because none of them are perfect 10’s except himself.

SDL Star Preparing To Turn Heel Soon?, Jonathan Coachman At WWE Event (Video)

– It looks like WWE is experimenting with the possibility of turning Tye Dillinger heel soon. Several reports note that Dillinger has been working heel at this week’s WWE live events for the annual holiday tour, losing to Sin Cara. Fans said that Dillinger was playing the heel role down a bit.

– Former WWE personality Jonathan Coachman and his kids were at last night’s WWE live event in Hartford, Connecticut. WWE posted the following video:

Land of Opportunity? 3 Smackdown Live Stars Who Have Languished in 2017

Remember back to the heady days of the brand split when Daniel Bryan & Shane McMahon claimed that Smackdown Live would be the land of opportunity? While the focus of the SD main event scene places the GM and Commissioner on our screens consistently it’s fair to say that several superstars have been languishing this year…and I’m going to take a look at three of those stars now:

Dolph Ziggler

dolph ziggler

Dolph Ziggler

I feel like Dolph Ziggler encapsulates these types of lists. This naturally gifted superstar has all of the physical attributes, has a charisma on the microphone and he has main event level experience…yet he still seems to be languishing.

Dolph himself recently spoke on the Edge & Christian podcast on how he is more than aware of his ‘NXT gatekeeper’ role on Smackdown. This isn’t the worst position in the world to have, it is a clear indication that the company know you’re a ‘good hand’ and can help transition talent from NXT into the main roster smoothly, much like Chris Jericho before him. The real issue for Dolph is that he will forever be tarred with the moniker of ‘bridesmaid never the bride.’ Ziggler’s career heights such as cashing in MITB after Wrestlemania 29, beating John Cena in a ladder match and essentially ‘eliminating’ the Authority are not era defining and are sparsely remembered by most aside from the most ardent fans of the ‘show stealer.’ It’s a shame because if you look at where Cody Rhodes is right now couldn’t that just as easily be Dolph? Maybe it is time to take the independent route.

Becky Lynch

becky lynch

Becky Lynch

‘The Four Horsewoman Who Never Won The NXT Title’ could almost be trademarked at this point. When Becky made her way to Smackdown Live it was the perfect opportunity to make her the number one babyface and build around someone who is more than capable in the ring.

The biggest indication of her being brushed aside? Her tenure as the captain of Team Smackdown seemed like it could be a minor resurgence right up until she was eliminated first in the Survivor Series elimination match…not good. The Women’s division on Smackdown Live has not been stellar this year as a whole, even with the trade of Charlotte Flair to the Blue brand the featured Women’s bouts have not been as prominent as those over on RAW..saying that even the flagship show has it’s problems with the booking of their division.

Maybe Becky will get her run next year? She just seems to be stuck in this position of fiery babyface who gets cheered but no one truly gets behind.

Tye Dillinger

Tye Dillinger 1

I honestly had to check if Tye Dillinger was on Smackdown Live before I added his name to the list. I feel that it is unfair to lump Dillinger in the ‘catchphrase over, performer isn’t’ category because he is a talented performer and truly more than just the ’10’ gesture dictates.

The groundswell of support that Tye garnered as part of the NXT roster was truly staggering, it more than helped that he appeared in the Royal Rumble and was subsequently beloved by the Wrestlemania weekend crowd but all mentions of the ‘Perfect 10’ seem to have faded away near the end of 2017, incidentally he has not appeared on television since October 8th.

I think that this is not just an issue for Tye, but moreover an issue with WWE’s policy with bringing up NXT talent in general. There are times that it works, Asuka appears to be garnering a really strong following on the RAW brand but there doesn’t appear to be any sort of logic or reasoning to the call ups and it is brushed off on television as behind the scenes contract signings, wouldn’t it be interesting to see a change of tactic and see the heads of both brands ‘courting’ certain talents and have a twice yearly draft for the more high profile NXT stars? Just a thought.

Who do you think that WWE has dropped the ball on this year? Let us know in the comments.

Mojo Rawley Turns On Zack Ryder (Video), Tye Dillinger Wins Dark Match, Kalisto – WWE 205 Live

– After months of teasing a break-up, The Hype Bros are officially no more. Tonight’s WWE SmackDown saw Rowan and Harper quickly defeat Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder in a rematch from last week. As seen in the video below, Mojo attacked Ryder after the match and laid him out.

– The dark match before tonight’s SmackDown in Lexington, KY saw Tye Dillinger defeat Mike Kanellis in singles action.

– It looks like Kalisto will be making his return to WWE 205 Live on tonight’s show after being away last week. He tweeted the following today:

SmackDown Star Makes Surprise Return To NXT

The ‘Perfect Ten’ Tye Dillinger made his surprise return to NXT last night during a Live Event from Rochester, New York as noted by WrestlingInc. Below is the video of his entrance on the show:

The SmackDown Star reportedly worked in the opening match of the night where he faced and defeated Kona Reeves. It was noted that Dillinger received huge pop upon his entrance and he was very over with the crowd.

Currently, it’s not known whether Tye’s appearance was a one-off deal or if the SmackDown Live star will be making more appearances for the Development Territory of WWE in upcoming time.

What’s interesting to note here is that prior to SummerSlam, Dave Meltzer had stated that the company may send some Main Roster talents back to NXT which are not being used after the PPV.

If the company does plan to send some talents back to the Yellow brand then Tye Dillinger looks to be a perfect candidate for it as he hasn’t done much on Main Roster since being called up back in April this year.

Though on the other hand, AJ Styles has announced that the Perfect Ten will receive a shot at his US title next week on SmackDown Live, so we should wait and watch what the company has in store for him.

However, while The Perfect 10 has proven that he can handl

Backlash will be held in Rosemont, Ill, a suburb of Chicago, which is Aiden English’s hometown.

Tye Dillinger vs. Aiden English

Tye Dilinger is a new edition to the Smackdown Live roster. The 35-year old was originally signed to WWE in 2006, and briefly managed to crack the ECW brand’s roster in 2008-09 as Gavin Spears before he was released from the company.

In 2. He has been wrestling in NXT since 2013, until finally cracking the main roster again earlier this year.

29 year old Aiden English signed with WWE not long after graduation college in 2011. He started in WWE developmental in 2012.

Tye Dillinger On His Journey To WWE, Who He Wants To Face On SmackDown

Tye Dillinger made his SmackDown debut after WWE’s Superstar Shake-Up. It was a long road to WWE for Dillinger. Rolling Stone has a new interview with Dillinger and he discusses his time in WWE developmental and who he would like to face in a match on the SmackDown roster. Here are some highlights from the interview:

His journey through WWE developmental:

“In the beginning, there was a great deal of frustration. Developmental was so different at the time. Now, I don’t even consider NXT a developmental system. It’s its own brand. So many guys were able to develop a following while in NXT. Look at guys like Finn Balor, or Kevin Owens, or even Seth Rollins in the early days. Look at the Royal Rumble. I came out at the  number 10 spot, and there was a great reaction. That’s just a testament to how far NXT has come in a very short amount of time.

My first time around in WWE, there wasn’t the WWE Network. We weren’t as big. It was much harder to crack through and get to the audience. There was much more of a competitive nature. It was just really hard to break through that glass ceiling. Now, we’re worldwide. NXT is worldwide. It’s still competitive to get to the WWE of course, but with that following, we want to put on a great product no matter where we are. There’s such a big difference between then and now. I wake up and thank myself every day that I was given a second opportunity.”

What he wants to accomplish on SmackDown Live:

“I’ve been around long enough to know that the work never stops. If you’re fortunate enough to get on the main roster, the work starts all over. I spent a lot of time on NXT with the Perfect Ten character and getting him to where he is now. Now that I’m on Smackdown Live, we have a broader audience. We have, perhaps, a new audience. The work starts all over for me. I fully intend on starting from the bottom up. But, at the same time, I want to make some waves, and I want to make some waves quick.

There are a lot of talented guy that I want to mix it up with that I’ve never had the opportunity with. Hopefully the broader audience will get a kick out of some of the things that I do, and will become just as loyal as the NXT audience who has been following me for the past years. The goal stays the same, and that’s just to get all the way to the very top. That has never changed, and I’m ready.”

Who he would like to face on the SmackDown roster:

“I’ve been thinking about this, and I have a top four, in no particular order. One guy I had on the list actually just got shipped over to Raw, and he was at the top of my list, and that’s The Miz. Miz is one guy I’d like to work with, because I think we could do some pretty incredible things. At the moment though, on Smackdown, in no particular order: Tyler Breeze, Dolph Ziggler, Randy Orton and AJ Styles. Ziggler I’ve known for years. We used to work together way way back in the FCW days.

Tyler Breeze is an incredible talent. I worked with him a little bit in NXT, but not to the level where I had hoped. That guy is severely underrated as a talent. AJ Styles and Randy Orton, I’ve never worked with them before. I don’t need to give you any of their accolades, the world knows them already. Those two right now are the best at what we do in this industry. They’re the top of the top.”

Bobby Roode and Hideo Itami Segment

Roode’s promo was directed at people who had been saying nice things about Nakamura following his departure from NXT. Roode reminds fans that Nakamura left because he beat him so badly. This brought out the returning Hideo Itami, who eventually gave Roode the GTS and knocked him out.

Jack Gallagher and Tyler Bate Segment

We get a short segment promoting next weekend’s UK championship match between 205 Live’s Jack Gallagher and the UK tournament champion, Tyler Bate. Things were kept on a sportsmanship level between the two later in the show when they were both interviewed backstage.

Andrade Almas and Drew McIntyre Segment

We see captured video of Drew McIntyre working out with Heavy Machinery when Almas enters the gym and gets in McIntyre’s face. The two will face each other in single’s action next week.

1. Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Danny Burch

This was a showcase match for Almas, who won with his modified DDT. Almas is gaining steam as a heel, though his loss to Aleister Black at Takeover: Orlando set him back a peg.
He faces Drew McIntyre next week on NXT.
Winner: Andrade Almas

2. Liv Morgan and Aliya vs. the Iconic Duo (Billy Kay and Peyton Royce)

The babyfaces pull off an upset here, as Aliyah manages to score the sunset flip pin on Peyton Royce. After the match the Australian heels threw a tantrum in the ring.
Winners: Morgan and Aliyah (Aliyah pinned Royce)

3. Steel Cage Match
Tye Dillinger vs. Eric Young

Dillinger becomes one of the rare few to leave NXT on a winning note, as he defeated Eric Young in an exciting steel cage match in last night’s main event. Young seemed to get busted up hard-way, but no effort was made to clean up the blood.
Members of Sanity all rushed the cage, but the rest of the mid card babyfaces (Ohno, Strong, Ruby Riot) came out to even the odds.
Young hit an elbow drop from the top of the cage at one point. Dillinger also went off the cage and hit Young and another member of Sanity with a cross body. Finish of the match was Dillinger escaping through the cage door and locking the rest of the members of Sanity inside.
Winner: Tye Dillinger

Tye Dillinger has been a mainstay at WWE developmental for the better part of a decade, joining Ohio Valley Wrestling back in 2006 before wrestling in WWE’s reboot of ECW from 2008-2009. He worked on the independent scene for several years before rejoining WWE in 2013, wrestling for NXT ever since.
