Dana Warrior Comments On The 1-Year Anniversary Of Warrior’s Passing

Today marks one year since the untimely passing of WWE Hall of Famer The Ultimate Warrior. Warrior’s widow Dana has published a statement looking back on the past year, the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony and carrying on his legacy. RIP Warrior.

WARRIORS ARE REQUIRED NOT TO HIDE FROM PAINFUL ANNIVERSARIES…

Warriors my heart is crushed as I write this. At this time a year ago I still had him. At this time he was still walking and talking and breathing…I could reach out my hand and I could touch him. I could hear his breath, see the tiny hairs on his arms, feel the scruff of his stubble, hug him, kiss him, hold his hand and smile into his eyes as he brushed hair away from my face. A year later I do not have the privilege of any of those things. How can that be?

I’m going to tell you something I’m a little embarrassed to say. I have never unpacked my husband’s bags from last year’s Hall of Fame/ Wrestlemania weekend. They sit in a far nook of my house I walk by often. Every single time I see his red and black bags I tell myself I should pull off the bandaid and put his things away….but I cannot. If I unpack those bags he will never be here to repack them. He will never again choose the essentials to place in each case. His hands will never zip the zippers, his strong arms will never carry them to the car and he will really and finally be irrevocably gone.

Warriors, I know this is irrational but I will always tell you the truth and the truth is sometimes I think those suitcases will need to stay packed forever just so I don’t have to let him go…at least not all the way.

The single hardest thing I had to do this entire year might surprise you. WWE needed me to get his ring gear together for AXXESS which I am so glad that I did now and was entirely delighted to do when they asked..until I began the process. I would start out strong then end up in a puddle because the smell of him was in every fiber of those pieces along with his spirit. I cannot explain why I felt him most strongly digging into those boxes but the tears that dripped off my face and onto the his ring gear fabric were so much wetter and more painful than I could aptly describe. There was nothing that went with those monster tears, no sound, no hiccups, no sniffles, just the splash of rain puddle tears that felt as though they would never ever stop..but eventually, like every storm, they did. I touched the fabric, held his strings, ran my hand over his jackets and actually put my little feet into his giant boots. I cried thinking I could put my feet in these epic boots but I could never fill his shoes. There will ever only be one Warrior…and he was ULTIMATE!

You warriors out there give me so much credit for being strong but I fear that is not always true. This morning I do not feel strong. I feel sad and cheated. I wanted happily ever after with my husband…he was my guy and I loved him ferociously. I, of course, would not trade the beautiful years we had, even knowing the crushing pain that follows the loss. Still, perhaps I’m greedy, but today especially, I want more. We fought a lot of hard battles. We had a lot of tough things to face. I was looking forward to that time we slowed down just a stitch and soaked in the beauty of what we fought so hard to achieve. My goodness, I am so sad that will never be.

I will pick myself up and dust myself off and put on a brave face for my warrior girls today and we will celebrate his life today in a place he loved more than anyplace else but I’ll need your power and help. I never once spent a day lying in bed after we lost him because he would have abhorred that. My girls saw that and I think the proudest I’ve felt since our loss was when Indy mentioned that fact when she was being interviewed for the DVD. I had never thought of it but when she said something to the effect,”my mommy never once crawled into bed and gave up, she got up every day as positively as possible and carried our lives forward..” I sat taller knowing for all my mistakes I had done my job. For all the pain they felt. For all the sadness and uncertainty they were not afraid I would not steer the ship. For that I must thank Warrior for steeling my spine with twenty years of don’t be a cry baby training! I thank the grace of God, my dearest friends, my Auntie and Uncle, and ALL YOU WARRIORS who put on the face paint (metaphorically) and carried we three warrior girls on your mighty shoulders through this turbulent year.

I believe in observing anniversaries, even ugly, awful ones. I believe in facing hard days standing straight and upright not hiding in bed supine. I believe that we all have a choice when life hands you the worst case scenario and you’ll never regret making the choice to be brave. I believe we all have a divine plan and destiny and it is our job to show up, do the work and strive to realize what we are here to achieve….What I believe most, with everything I am is this..

This world was made better by a man brave enough to carry the name WARRIOR. This amazing and wonderfully generous man believed with every cell in his body that we are all uniquely created to be our OWN warriors and he would expect us to make that happen, each day, every day, especially today..and… ALWAYS!!

Rest in Peace beloved husband I will never let you down.

Dana Warrior Talks About Connor Michalek Being First Ever “Warrior Award” Recipient

The Ultimate Warrior’s widow, Dana Warrior, posted a new blog on her official Facebook page regarding Connor “The Crusher” Michalek being the first-ever recipient of the Warrior Award at the WWE Hall Of Fame induction ceremony later this month during WrestleMania 31 weekend.

Below is what Dana wrote about Connor and The Warrior Award:

“WARRIORS LOVE CRUSHERS!!!

The girls and I are truly overwhelmed and honored by WWE’s creation of THE WARRIOR AWARD. My heart bursts with technicolor joy that a warrior such as Connor will be the inaugural inductee. His passion and vibrancy in the way he tackled life is a testament to his warrior spirit. It is not how big the body nor how long the life is lived…it is all about the living of the days you are given and how those days touch others around you.

Connor was a glorious example of the impact a little warrior can have in this world. I have no doubt when Connor reached heaven my husband shook the ropes to welcome him home. I could not be more honored to help induct Connor the Crusher into the Class of 2015 Hall of Fame.

This is a moment I will treasure forever…these are the things that make me glad to be alive….This is why I believe…ALWAYS!!!!!

Dana Warrior Blogs About WWE’s Upcoming “Ultimate Warrior: Always Believe” Project

Dana Warrior, the widow of WWE Hall Of Famer Ultimate Warrior, recently posted the following blog on Facebook regarding WWE’s upcoming “Ultimate Warrior: Always Believe” DVD and Blu-ray, which is scheduled for an April 14th release.

WARRIORS BELIEVE IN RECORDING GREATNESS….

Warriors I am so happy to tell you I’ve seen the first cut of WWE’s home video production of Ultimate Warrior: ALWAYS BELIEVE, released April 14, 2015. It is a spectacular celebration of his life in and out of the ring. It is real and it is raw. It is heartbreaking but it is beautiful because that is life…and life has edges.

This was not an easy project to see through but one I knew I must. Not just for my husband but for all of YOU! The legion of Warriors who have adopted my husband’s creed and lived it as intensely as he did! You will see the story of his rise in the WWE told through the voices of the incredible roster of talent and WWE executives. You will see sustaining friendships and new ones. You will see truth. You will meet my girls and see what incredible young ladies they have grown into over these ten months since our loss. The edges of life have been particularly sharp to them at such a young age but they’ve been so graceful in the way they have carried on and conducted themselves daily as he would have required: the ultimate warrior girls through and through. I will share the man I knew and loved with you…the one behind the mask who was my husband, best friend, and father to our daughters. I am honest about the struggles and the pain but just as truthful about the joy we shared and the laughs we had because it is all woven into the fabric of our true story. This is indeed a celebration and a culmination of who he was in and out of the ring.

What I have come to realize about the edges I’ve faced is they have cut me out of my comfort zone and pushed me into an arena I never anticipated. What I always loved most was being a wife and mother and suddenly I had to carry the massive mantle of one I supported with absolute love and devotion. Maybe this edge brought me to my best self as I believe it does all of us…it is in the heat of trial and battle we reach deeply within to discover our OWN Ultimate Warriors. My husband did this in his life as you will clearly see on this dvd and by his example we must do it in ours! I was so lucky, like he was, to have all of YOU lift us up and carry on. This project was my thank you. THANK YOU WARRIORS!!!!

I believe in doing what is hard… I believe in the truth… I believe we are all required to turn the sharpest edges of our lives into our greatest sharpening tools…Always!

xo Dana

Special thanks to Steve Wilton who without his part none of this would be possible.

Thank you Victor Lorenzo for your love of this project and Matt Rogers for your care.

Thank you Michelle Greigo for her hair and make up magic and inappropriate HR department.

  • Top Five Biggest Stars In Wrestling Who Weren’t Good Workers

David Arquette is a former WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Being a World Champion normally means you’re a big star. Vince Russo was a former World Champion. The Great Khali is a former World Heavyweight Champion. Just so we understand each other, these guys, in my opinion, are not among the biggest stars in the history of pro wrestling.

    Do we understand the formula?

Today, we are going to look at five legends of the ring who were without a doubt top stars in their prime. At one point or another, each person on this list could be considered “the guy” in the business. All were top stars who reached Championship-level success at one time or another, however they all shared one key factor in common — they pretty much sucked in the ring.

A lot of people have different ideas of what a “good worker” really is. Generally speaking, if you’re in the business, a good worker is someone who can take the live crowd on an emotional journey. Most of the people on this list were able to do that, however if you’re a die-hard fan of the sport, you have a different opinion of what a “good worker” is. To those people, a good worker is someone who took the time to perfect the craft, the art and skill of what goes on inside the squared circle. Guys who have matches that are considered “match of the year” candidates. Guys who could have what die-hard fans call “five-star matches.”

That is who we are looking at today. Guys who by die-hard fan standards would be considered god-awful workers. Guys who couldn’t have a classic, five-star match to save their life, even if they’re able — usually due to star power and enthusiasm — to pop a crowd during a match.

With all of thr explanation out of the way, let’s take a look at who made the list of the top five biggest stars who weren’t good workers.

    #5. Hulk Hogan

The guy knows how to have a classic match. His WrestleMania VI clash with Ultimate Warrior, who we’ll be talking about later, surprised many. Still, if you examine the match with your “worker” glasses on you’ll notice that it wasn’t exactly a catch-as-catch-can classic by any means.

It was a great match though in the sense that the crowd was totally invested. A lot of that had to do with the promotional build-up to the match and the characters involved. The same can be said for Hogan vs. The Rock at WrestleMania X8.

A Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat classic it was not.

But the response from the fans was about as passionate as things get. Hogan can have great matches when everything falls into place, but you can’t put just anybody in the ring with him and expect a great match. As far as his star-power is concerned, Hogan is one of — if not the biggest — stars in the history of the sport.

Hulk Hogan comes in at number five.

    #4. Andre the Giant

Andre The Giant is one of the biggest and most recognizable stars in professional wrestling history. In his prime as a young wrestler he would come off of the top-rope, he could throw a pretty impressive dropkick and was a lot more agile than he became later in his career.

Most will remember the run Andre The Giant had in WWE in the 1980s, but prior to that he was actually a pretty solid in-ring worker. His most famous years, however, saw a number of rest-holds killing the majority of the time in his matches. It was almost a sure thing that there would be a few bear-hugs, nerve-grip holds and the ever-popular butt-smash in the corner spot.

So again, Andre wasn’t the best in-ring technician, but he was a huge star — literally — and could elicit a great reaction from the crowd from bell-to-bell when matched with the right guy.

Regardless, Andre comes in at number four.

    #3. Kevin Nash

Outside of a few matches with Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, better known to WWE-exclusive fans as “Diesel,” rarely had a match above a two-star rating. He was one of the first workers to be labeled as a guy with “five moves of doom,” long before that torch was passed to John Cena.

However, Nash was a big ingredient in the pro wrestling explosion of the late 1990s. His move to WCW, which led to the formation of the nWo, was arguably the jumping-off point of the Monday Night Wars, which ultimately led to WWE’s “Attitude Era.” WWE was forced to switch gears and change the way they do business, and Nash, along with Scott Hall, were two key players at the root of all of these changes.

Despite his importance level in the business, his work level earns him the bronze medal as one of the biggest stars who wasn’t a “good worker.”

  • Now THAT Is How You Get WWE Network Subscriptions

    $9.99 a month.

We’ve heard it to death, but what do we actually get for that ten bucks?

Thus far, we’ve had a couple of cool shows — The Monday Night War and WWE Rivalries series, a couple of decent shows — WWE Countdown and WrestleMania Rewind, the pay-per-view events and NXT programming, as well as access to a bunch of old crap we’ve seen — and for the most part, can still see — 1,000 times on YouTube.

It sounds like a decent amount of programming when you list it out like that, but let’s be honest, the WWE Network isn’t what it could be.

Perfect example, last night’s live broadcast of the “Steve Austin Show” podcast with special guest, WWE Chairman — Vince McMahon.

Now THAT is how you get WWE Network subscriptions.

That was one of the first true examples of “must-see” programming on the WWE Network. Going in, you couldn’t know that ahead of time, although many expected it to be compelling programming, and luckily in this case, that’s exactly what it turned out to be.

Personally speaking, I think WWE should take notice of the feedback to the show, which has been universally positive and enthusiastic in nature, and offer similar content on as a consistent basis as possible.

We hear a lot about production costs and things of that nature making it hard to churn out content on the WWE Network, but for shows like last night’s Austin-McMahon special and the recent “ECW Exposed” specials, all you need is a room, two human beings, a microphone, a camera and some lights.

    That can’t be that expensive.

I’m of the opinion that WWE should make the Austin-McMahon live podcast a regular staple on the WWE Network. Once every quarter, the WWE boss man checks in with “The Texas Rattlesnake” for somewhat of a “WWE State of the Union Address” type of deal, but produced and aired in similar fashion to last night’s special.

It’s inexpensive, basic and simple, but most importantly — effective.

If you offer that up every few months when there will no doubt be a plethora of items within the “WWE Universe” world to speak of, I believe fans will come in droves to tune in and make sure they’re watching it live, especially those who watched live — or even after the fact — last night.

Anyone who saw the Austin-McMahon live podcast had to of enjoyed at least some, if not all of it. I’m in the latter category, as I was glued to my monitor for the entire 70 minutes.

I was so into the program, in fact, that I’m not ashamed to admit I literally popped — out-loud — when Austin was telling McMahon that they were being wrapped up off-camera, only for McMahon to inform him that he owns this Network, and it’s going to continue for another ten or 15 minutes.

Anyone who is familiar with Austin’s weekly “Steve Austin Show” podcast at PodcastOne.com is aware of the fact that ole’ “Stone Cold” has some pretty superior skills in the interviewing department.

With that being said, I think it’s safe to assume that Austin doing a similar show to that in which we witnessed with McMahon last night, with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, would be just as intriguing and entertaining.

    It’s cheap, it’s simple, it’s effective.

    Key word — effective.

You can cut as many “for only $9.99 a month” promos you want. You can offer as many free months as you want. You can give us access to as much old crap you have laying around that you want, but stuff like last night is what is going to up your subscription count.

To date, I’d put last night’s Austin-McMahon show right up there with the Ultimate Warrior documentary as the single most compelling program to air on the WWE Network thus far. Unlike the Warrior documentary, there’s no reason why WWE can’t do something like last night on a consistent basis.

It’s times like last night that makes “the norm” so frustrating. Every once in a while, WWE will prove that “they still got it” (clap, clap, clap-clap-clap) only to turn around the next week and go back to the “same old sh*t” (same old sh*t! same old sh*t! same old sh*t!) and make me as a fan want to chant in their face “you f*cked up! you f*cked up! you f*cked up!”

It’s not rocket science, folks. Last night proved it. You want subscribers? You want the WWE Network to be a success? Start offering content that the people dig instead of lame, B-level “junk” that you have laying around.

“If you build it, they will come.”

Last night, WWE built a foundation and laid out a blueprint on how to make use out of this “over-the-top” digital service. And the fans came (I’ll spare the attempt at spinning that last line into a sexual-related, lame-ass joke).

Ryback wants to be “fed more,” and so do the WWE fans. Give them more stuff like last night’s show, and our collective appetites will be full.

THAT, for $9.99 a month? That’s a steal, my friends. I’ll gladly open up the billfold every 30 days for that type of programming.

Unfortunately, and I hate to be a glass-is-half-empty kind of guy on this one, but I’m afraid we’ll probably go back to our “regularly scheduled (lame) program” from here on out, and have to wait quite a while before we see something as cool as the live broadcast of the “Steve Austin Show” podcast on the WWE Network again.

But hey, that’s just one man’s opinion. What do you think? We’d like to know, and you can let us know by posting your feedback in the “Comments” section below. You can also follow me on social media for more news and views at Facebook.com/MattBooneWZR, and/or on Twitter @MBoone420.

Vader Talks Saving Sid Vicious’ Life, Ultimate Warrior Almost Getting His Gimmick, Promised WWF Title Reigns

Former WCW / IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Vader recently spoke to Raj Giri of WrestlingINC.com. You can get a video message from Vader and other wrestlers and celebrities at CelebVM.com.

Here are some highlights from the interview:

The Ultimate Warrior originally being groomed for the Big Van Vader gimmick in Japan:

Vader: Yeah! This is just my understanding, but I heard that Sid Vicious was also up for it. And [Antonio] Inoki had designed this thing and he was going to put this helmet on somebody and pay him a lot of money. They brought the Warrior over and—let’s face it…may he rest in peace and with all due respect—he looked fantastic, he had a lot of energy, he’s a Hall of Famer, but athletically, he was limited; in other words, he was a little stiff. In other words, I don’t think he could play a real good game of basketball. I’m not trying to be disrespectful but I believe the best wrestlers are also athletic in nature. Look at someone like Sting who is a tremendous athlete. Look at Undertaker, who is just a fabulous athlete. A guy like Shawn Michaels, who is a smaller athlete but…tremendous athleticism. I think Ultimate Warrior and Sid, although they looked fantastic, athletically I don’t think they’d have been given college scholarships to play football or basketball or something like that.

“This is my point: over in Japan, these guys were just very special athletes. They were raised in this. They were like gods and these guys were raised to do this from childhood. These guys started when they were 10, doing squats and pushups and they were handpicked. The best athletes moved on. There was never a case when I got in the ring in Japan and I wasn’t with a superior athlete. These guys were all fantastic athletes. They could do anything. A guy named Mitsuharu Misawa—he worked for a while and then started his own company, NOAH—he could do anything physically. He was just gifted. He got heavy and smoked towards the end and still could do 20 and 30 minute matches with me and just do anything—and hold, any move, anything off the top rope. All of them: Kobashi, Akiyama, Inoki—was probably the least athletic of them all—Gret Muta—God, you talk about a 6’3” athlete. So that’s just my opinion and they didn’t work out because Inoki saw that they could not go 20 minutes a night and work with these athletic, smaller guys. Especially Sid, because of his height. He’s 6′ 7” and you know, I was a lot taller than these guys and compared to Sid…Sid towers over me. I’m 6’4” and he’s 6’7”…6’8” with a boot on. But again, if you watch Sid in the ring, he’s kind of stiff. He kind of reminds me of Kane. Kane is stiff. He moves… that robotic kind of thing. Not real fluid. And you compare Kane to the Undertaker and I think that’d be a fair analogy. Kane gets up to the top rope and he comes off and it’s kind of difficult for him and it’s kind of awkward. The Undertaker walks up backward gracefully and comes of the top rope and there’s just a difference in athletic ability. Don’t get me wrong; Kane’s a Hall of Famer and he’s going to do great but I’m trying to make a point here.

The sid Vicious – Arn Anderson hotel fight in the U.K. in 1993:

“Me and Steve [Austin] are sitting there [in the hotel bar] and then all hell breaks loose. Neither one of us really saw what happened but next thing I know, man, Sid comes walking up to me because I was headed that way to see if I could help or, you know, just hold somebody because it was a violent fight. I mean there were chairs and bottles. And Sid, if memory serves, it was either just to the left of his belly button or just to the right of his belly button, he had a hole in him and I looked and he was doing the Frankenstein walk and he just said, ‘Leon, Leon,’ and I said ‘Oh sh–‘ and I looked and it about a nickel sized stream of blood squirted out every time his heart pumped. It came out about four inches before it fell down, it wasn’t trickling down his stomach, it was squirting out, and it came out about two to three inches and then it dropped and I thought to myself, ‘He’s not going to last long, he’ll bleed to death.’ I said ‘Sid, trust me,’ and I grabbed a chair and I sat down and said, ‘Sid, don’t move, you’re gonna die’ and I slowly eased my thumb into that hole and higher and he said, ‘You’re hurting me.’ and I said, ‘You gotta take it’ and I got it in there a little bit more and it slowed the bleeding enough and kept him alive until the ambulance came.

“That’s the true story. This was instinct on my part, I knew if I took a towel he’d bleed to death. I thought I had to plug it and somehow I got in there and I had stopped the bleeding partially because I got my thumb on the vein that had been cut and it slowed it down and, you know what? As far as I’m concerned, Anderson owes me a “Thank you” because I don’t care if you’re right or wrong, when someone gets killed, you’re in trouble. Someone dies. And as far as Sid, I probably saved his life and, you know what? Not probably, most definitely did, because I was there, I saw it and (laughs) neither one of them thanked me. No good deed goes unpunished, brother.

    Being promised the WWF title:

Vader: You know what, the title was promised to me two times. I was supposed to be a two-time heavyweight champion. If I did the job for Shawn at SummerSlam, and then something would happen and I’d get it then give it to somebody else, take it back and then give it back to Shawn in San Antonio. Instead, somehow that got changed around.

Anyway, Sid took that run and then I had a really great opportunity, Vince said to me, “You’re not just a good worker, you’re a great big man and there’s this guy coming in here called The Rock. Just take him under the arm about ninety days and just beat the hell out of him. I want you to teach him how to wrestle but be rough on him.” The Rock was just “Yes, sir, no, sir” to me and for ninety days, I beat him every night, but I made him listen. You know, “Hit me harder,” and “Do this,” and “This psychology and that psychology,” and the last night, he beat me and we shook hands and he went on and I think I did a pretty good job. He had a whole lot to work with. And then, for that, [Vince] said “We’re going to give you a run at the Intercontinental and then that never happened.

Vader also discussed another gimmick Vince McMahon had for him, getting his start in pro wrestling, his NFL career getting cut short, signing with WCW, Ron Simmons defeating him to become the first African American World Heavyweight Champion and what it meant to him, Eric Bischoff taking charge in WCW, his WCW departure, signing with WWE, WWE not pushing him properly and much more. • Paul Bearer’s Son Talks Inducting His Father Into WWE HOF, Ultimate Warrior & More

The following are highlights of a new Mike Roycroft Show interview with the late Paul Bearer’s son, D.J. Pringle:

On growing up with a backstage pass to the WWE during the Attitude Era: “Most of the time it was during the summer because dad would bring home an itinerary with (a map of) the United States on it and make us close our eyes and pick where we were going to go for that summer, and it would be a 4-6 day tour. We’d go and hang out with the boys and stay there all day, just meeting people and getting to know them. These people are friends of my dad, it’s not just employees and co-workers, it’s friends. Guys would take kids under their wing. I remember this very vividly: when Mr. Perfect was alive, Edge and Christian would take Joe (Hennig aka Curtis Axel) under their wing. Seeing guys like that….they’re on the road all the time knowing they’re hurt, they’re worn down and and they don’t want to go to the next city, but they’re still upbeat and wanting to do what they love. It’s the brotherhood between the guys.”

On inducting his father into the WWE Hall Of Fame on Wrestlemania weekend with his brother: “Busy, busy, busy weekend….we didn’t have time for ourselves at all. We were either in the hotel sleeping or we were at the arena or rehearsing or doing something. It was more walk-through than anything because with it being Wrestlemania 30, they want everything perfect so they’re going to go through it a million times and make sure everything’s right for tv. But what an emotional weekend….what an honor it was, what a weekend it was.”

On re-connecting with Ultimate Warrior during that weekend: “The thing about Warrior is, he would remember stuff that you would have no clue (about), that you don’t even think about. He would say, ‘Yeah, I remember you two boys running down the hallway yelling Taker, Taker…’, and I’m just thinking to myself, I was only 4 or 5 years old at the time. But he was giving his condolences to us about dad, talking about how friendly dad was, how great a guy he was in the locker room and with fans and with his on-screen character. That was a pretty cool experience. (Later) I get a text message saying that Warrior died, and I said, I just talked to him 2 days before he died, looked him in his face.”

  • Ultimate Warrior’s Widow Calls Out Hulk Hogan For Being A Phony

In response to some comments made by Hulk Hogan in a recent Grantland interview that we posted on the site a few days ago, the widow of the late Ultimate Warrior, Dana Warrior, posted the following statement via Facebook:

    Statement from Dana Warrior

I’ve been really quiet since the passing of my husband and the father of my girls. Someone sent me what Mr Bollea had to say in video interview with Grantland yesterday and I would just like to ask him to stop.

He is the only person in the WWE Universe who did not give a call or send a card. My girls asked why he didn’t check on us like everyone else and I explained simply there isn’t a camera at our mailbox or in the house when we receive our calls.

I would ask respectfully Mr Bollea, for you to understand my girls hurt and just let some time pass before you say anything more.

Backstage News Regarding Fan Interest For Sting In WWE

The belief within WWE is that there is a considerable amount of interest in Sting following the WWE 2K15 announcement, more so than when the announcement was made last year regarding Ultimate Warrior in WWE 2K14.

Because Sting is more current and there’s a feeling that he may actually wrestle a match for WWE, that seems to be the reason for the additional excitement.

  • Sting Signs Another WWE-Related Deal, WWE Hopeful Sting Signs By SummerSlam

While Sting has still yet to sign an official deal with WWE, he was able to appear the San Diego Comic Con recently with WWE involvement because of the fact that he signed a deal directly with Mattel.

It’s being said that the feeling regarding Sting’s momentum is that it is higher than that of The Ultimate Warrior, who re-entered the current WWE scene via a direct deal with 2K Sports for WWE video game promotion. Basically, because of the perception that Sting can actually still wrestle a match, whereas it was made clear in the case of Ultimate Warrior that he couldn’t, that he has more momentum going for him right now than Warrior did during similar circumstances last year.

One WWE source claims that the company is hopeful to secure an official deal with Sting by SummerSlam, since he will be coming to Los Angeles, California, the site of this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view, for the event, even though at this point he is not scheduled to participate in the show itself in any fashion.

  • Sting Says He Wants To Wrestle The Undertaker At WrestleMania 31

Wrestling legend Sting spoke to Mirror.co.uk this week to hype his involvement in the upcoming WWE 2K15 video game. Sting spoke about a variety of topics, including why he decided to finally work with WWE after all these years, if he’s interested in joining the WWE Hall of Fame, memories of his former tag team partner The Ultimate Warrior and his desire to wrestle The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31.

Here are the highlights of what Sting said about:

Finally Working With WWE: “Why now? It’s a now or never thing. I’ve done so many things in the wrestling business but the one thing I’d never done was wrestle or be a part of the WWE family I didn’t want too hang it all up and retire and disappear again without having done that in some capacity.”

Joining The WWE Hall Of Fame: “Obviously it would be a great honour to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. It’s nothing that I would say no to, that’s for sure.”

Memories Of The Ultimate Warrior: “Now I can look back and realise just how amazing it all was. It’s remarkable really that both of us ended up taking it all as far as we did.”

“It would seem like every three, four, five years or so we’d bump into each other. He called me twelve years ago, he needed some help with some stuff and of course I was there to help him out as much as I could. We never really kept in contact, but it was always friendly when we did. With his resurgence with WWE I was really looking forward to reconnecting with him again, and maybe even working with him in some capacity through WWE.”

Wanting To Wrestle The Undertaker: “I’ve made it clear I’d love to have one last hurrah, one last big match hopefully. And of course I’ve been outspoken about Undertaker being the opponent. I know what happened at Wrestlemania where Brock Lesnar broke his streak. I think, or at least I’m hoping, that Taker’s still going to come back and that he’s not done. If he’s not done, and he would consider doing it, I’d love to work with him one time.

“I’d love to wrestle him one time before I call it quits. Undertaker maintained a status in wrestling and the WWE that is second to none. He’s a phenomenon,”

“How about San Francisco, 2015, in April?”
