Velveteen Dream Telling Fans To Demand WWE Calls Him Up To Main Roster

Popular WWE NXT superstar Velveteen Dream has made one thing perfectly clear, which is the fact that he wants to be on the WWE main roster whether that means to be featured on Monday Night RAW or SmackDown Live.

During this week’s episode of RAW, he took to his official Twitter account to request WWE fans to demand that he be called up from NXT to the main roster. This comes fresh off the news that several NXT stars would be called up to the roster and the promises made during the opening segment of RAW involving the McMahon family (Triple H, Vince, Shane & Stephanie McMahon) in order to shake up the current product that is presented on a weekly bases.

Dream wrote in his social media posts that it’s not Vince’s call who gets called up to the main roster, it’s the fans. He is encouraging fans to “spam” WWEs Twitter accounts with the hashtag #CallDREAMUp.

According to him, it doesn’t matter if he gets called up to Raw or SmackDown. If you’re entertaining, you’re entertaining. “If UR entertaining ur entertaining,” he wrote. “I don’t need writers and I don’t need a lot of time. A superstar should bleed through ur TV. And not when someone’s producing it. Give Me The Red Light And It’s #DREAMOn Any Night.”

Status Update On Velveteen Dream

Despite having impressed Triple H and others within WWE’s upper echelons, the Velveteen Dream has still not been called up to the main roster. At one point, Dream brazenly wore tights decorated with “Call Me Up Vince” in an effort to stand out and get his point across.

Main roster ambitions aside, at this point in time there’s no word on when we can even expect the Dream back on NXT TV.

It’s been reported that he did not work the recent TV tapings from NXT’s home in Full Sail University. He did, however, return to in-ring competition for the black and yellow brand over the weekend for NXT’s live events in Florida. Dream picked up victories over Kona Reeves and Luke Menzies.

Having finessed and improved during his time in NXT, the Velveteen Dream has been unsuccessful in his recent efforts for NXT gold. It’s a testament to the Dream’s charisma and character that these losses haven’t impeded his popularity or continued success.

His last televised matchup took place at TakeOver: War Games II over Survivor Series weekend in a loss to current NXT champion, Tomasso Ciampa.

Could this imply bigger plans for the Velveteen Dream in the future? With the Royal Rumble around the corner, could we be on the cusp of a main roster debut?

Triple H Says Velveteen Dream Is ‘Unbelievable’

Velveteen Dream had a memorable match with Tommaso Ciampa at the NXT TakeOver: Wargames pay-per-view where he challenged Ciampa for his NXT Championship. Dream laid it all out there and it looked like he was going to win the title last night.

After the event, a TakeOver post-show interview was conducted where Triple H spoke to Cathy Kelley and gave opinions about the superstars performances’ at the show.

Speaking of Velveteen Dream, Triple H said that he is unbelievable and it is scary that he is at this level at just 23 years of age.

“Here is where I sit with Velveteen Dream. Unbelievable. Everything about him is not to be believed that how good he is and then I remember he is only 23 years old. 23 years old, to take the champion with as much experience as he has, Tommaso Ciampa, to take him to that limit.

To make a little mistake and to lose in what could have gone either way at 23 years old. To have the whole world thinking this is yours at 23, it is scary how good he will be.

It is scary to think how dominant on every level that he will be. If he is not there now in a few years, you know, it is crazy to think that.”

Velveteen Dream is an amazing performer and we can’t help but agree with Triple H that it is surprising to see how talented he is at his age and how crazy he will be in a few years.

NXT 9/5 Preview: Johnny Gargano vs Velveteen Dream

NXT is back with another episode from Full Sail University tonight. The main event will feature a match between Johnny Gargano and Velveteen Dream.

NXT 9/5 Preview

Johnny Gargano vs Velveteen Dream

Last week, Johnny Gargano admitted he’s made mistakes lately. It was Gargano’s interference that ultimately led to Tommaso Ciampa winning the NXT Championship. Gargano was also unable to take the title away from his rival at Takeover.

Velveteen Dream had a more successful night at Takeover when he defeated EC3. A win over Gargano would likely move the Dream one step closer to an NXT title shot. He’ll be wrestling on some EVOLVE shows coming up before that happens, however.

Kairi Sane In Single’s Action

The new NXT Women’s Champion will be in action tonight although her opponent has yet to be named.

Shayna Baszler is likely not finished with the champion and it’s certain she’ll be scouting this match closely. With the Mae Young Classic and the Evolution pay-per-view on the horizon, the NXT Women’s division is looking like it’ll get highly competitive in the near future.

The Forgotten Sons Makes Their NXT Debut

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bm6bsmQhJS_/?utm_source=ig_twitter_share&igshid=1tthl6ycq6et2

Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler have been working the NXT house show circuit under the name “The Forgotten Sons”. The stable has undergone some tweaking in 2018 but it seems they are now ready for the bright lights of Full Sail University.

Their opponents tonight have yet to be named.

Kassius Ohno vs Kona Reeves

Kassius Ohno has played something of a gate-keeper role throughout his latest NXT run. He’d prefer to be a title-contender, however. Ohno did pick up a win in his last match against Adrian Jaoude but he’s in for much tougher competition tonight.

Kona Reeves lost his last match out against EC3. Prior to that match, he had been on a 3-match winning streak, however. His victories were over Max Humberto, Raul Mendoza, and Patrick Scott. Not exactly household names. A win over Kassius Ohno tonight would be the biggest of his career.

EVOLVE Promoter Comments On Velveteen Dream Bookings

Longtime wrestling promoter, Gabe Sapolsky, has commented on NXT’s Velveteen Dream being booked for upcoming EVOLVE shows.

It was announced yesterday that Velveteen will wrestle on EVOLVE 112 and 113. The events will take place on September 7th and 8th respectively. His opponents for the shows have yet to be announced, however.

When asked on Twitter if Velveteen was sent to EVOLVE, Sapolsky was quick to deny this was the case.

https://twitter.com/BookItGabe/status/1035283442873843713?s=19

“Let’s just kill this narrative now,” Sapolsky Tweeted. “Dream was requested by us because of his history at the MCW Arena in Joppa, MD. We wanted a homecoming. He was then asked to do Queens, to give the fans something special at La Boom. Dream was not ‘sent’ by anyone, he agreed and wanted to.”

Velveteen Dream started his career in Maryland Championship Wrestling. EVOLVE 112 on September 7th takes place in Joppa, MD. The city was home to many of Velveteen’s early matches back in 2014 and 2015. WWE didn’t take long to sign him, however, and Dream was on the NXT house show circuit by 2016.

Velveteen Dream Evolve 112 and 113

Sapolsky then commented that Velveteen being sent to EVOLVE was WWE helping the independent scene.

“This is WWE helping the independent wrestling scene,” Sapolsky Tweeted.

Triple H On The Meaning Of Velveteen Dream’s “Call Me Up Vince” Tights

Last night’s WWE NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 event was truly amazing.

The card, from top to bottom, featured some extraordinary matches from the future stars of WWE. One such match was that between The Velveteen Dream and EC3. The pair put on an extremely physical performance that resulted in Dream leaving with the victory.

One hot topic of discussion in regards to the match was the message Dream had printed on his tights. During his entrance, fans could read the phrase “Call Me Up Vince” on Dream’s tights.

This is obviously a message to Vince McMahon to call the 23-year-old up to the WWE’s main roster. After the event, Triple H took part in a post-TakeOver media call to talk about the event’s success.

Triple H On The Meaning Of Velveteen Dream’s Tights

Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet asked Triple H about the message on Velveteen’s tights. “The Game” initially joked, after a long pause, that Dream was sending a message to a friend of his (also coincidentally named Vince) who lost his phone. He wanted his friend, Vince, to give him a call:

https://twitter.com/ryansatin/status/1031006255605678080

Triple H then said that if Dream was truly talking about Vince McMahon, there’s one of two calls he could get from “The Chairman Of The Board.” One he’ll like, and one that he won’t. You never know which one it will be:

NXT 8/15 Preview: Roderick Strong vs Tyler Bate

NXT is back tonight with the go-home show before Saturday’s Takeover event. 3 matches have been booked for tonight along with one segment meant to build anticipation for a key match on Saturday.

NXT 8/15 Preview

Roderick Strong vs Tyler Bate

The feud between the Undisputed Era and Moustache Mountain continues tonight as Roderick Strong takes on Tyler Bate.

Moustache Mountain and the Undisputed Era have each won the NXT tag-team titles from the other team once this summer. The rubber match between the two top teams in the division goes on Saturday but single’s action between Strong and Bate takes place tonight.

the Street Profits vs the Mighty

The Mighty defeated the Street Profits the last time the two teams met. The Street Profits caused a distraction last week which allowed Heavy Machinery to pick up the win over the Australian tag-team.

One of these two teams moves closer to the top of the tag division and one moves closer to the bottom. Which team is which will be decided tonight.

Kairi Sane vs Aliyah

Kairi Sane will have what is commonly referred to as a tune-up match tonight. Sane will take on NXT Women’s Champion, Shayna Baszler, Saturday at Takeover. Before then, however, she’ll take on Toronto’s Aliyah tonight.

These two met last September, with Sane coming out the victor.

Shayna Baszler will most likely be keeping an eye out on this match as she prepares to face Sane again.

Velveteen Dream Verbal Assault

EC3 threw the Velveteen Dream in a pool during a somewhat bizarre segment on last week’s show. This week, Velveteen Dream is said to have a verbal assault planned for his Takeover opponent.

NXT Airs at 8 PM tonight only on the WWE Network

NXT Preview 7/4/18: Johnny Gargano vs EC3

NXT is back tonight with a show from Full Sail University in Florida. The main event for the night is scheduled to be Johnny Wrestling taking on EC3.

Several other matches and segments have been confirmed for tonight’s show.

NXT Preview 7/4/18

Johnny Gargano vs ECIII

  • NXT General Manager, William Regal, has told Gargano he needs to move on from his rivalry with Tommaso Ciampa. This is why Regal has scheduled him in a match tonight with EC3. If Gargano can’t get his mind off what Ciampa did to him, he will be in tough against the top one percenter tonight.

Shayna Baszler Has Defeated All Challengers

  • Recently, NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler has defeated Dakota Kai, Nikki Cross, and most recently Toni Storm (at the UK tapings).
  • Bianca Belair and Candice LeRae are two members of the division who seem to be winning matches a lot lately. Either of them could potentially come out to challenge the champion tonight.

Heavy Machinery vs The Mighty

  • TM-61 are now known just as the Mighty and they use any under-handed techniques they can to defeat their opponents. They have already used such tactics once to defeat the powerhouse team of Heavy Machinery.
  • After their recent loss to the Mighty, Heavy Machinery indicated that playtime was over. They get a chance at revenge tonight.

Chris Dijak vs Velveteen Dream

  • After dropping a tough loss to Ricochet at Takeover, the Dream could use a win here.
  • The 31-year-old former ROH wrestler, Dijak, dropped his first match on NXT television in May to Ricochet.

Velveteen Dream Responds To Hulk Hogan’s Offer To Manage Him

At NXT Takeover: Chicago II on Saturday, Velveteen Dream had a very Hulk Hogan-esque look to him. This led the Hulkster to comment that he should play the role of Dream’s manager.

Unfortunately for Hogan, it appears Velveteen Dream is not going to be his ticket back to WWE.

https://twitter.com/VelveteenWWE/status/1009972953960853504

Hulk Hogan’s Possible Return to WWE

Speculation regarding Hogan’s possible return to the company increased earlier this year when Hogan attended the premiere for HBO’s documentary on Andre the Giant. Just before the screening, WWE made a public statement regarding Hogan. They said they had reached out to him in order to discuss how others could learn from mistakes he’s made. WWE insisted Hogan was not under contract, however.

In March, it was revealed by Mark Henry that there is a delegation of wrestlers who don’t believe Hogan is ready to return.

”The delegation is pretty much all of the more established African-American wrestlers in the country and in the world, for that matter. Every promotion… there’s not a wrestling promotion that doesn’t house someone from the delegation,” Henry explained.

”I believe that everybody should be given a second chance but I also believe that you have to own your issue, whatever that issue is. You gotta try to make closure on everybody else’s behalf, not just yours.”

Booker T on Hogan Returning to WWE

Booker T has also commented on Hogan’s possible return to the company. While both Henry and Booker agree that people should be given second chances, Booker is more forgiving of Hulk than Henry is.

He made the following statements on his Heated Conversations show:

“The only thing Hogan can do is apologize, atone for it, and we move forward,” Booker said. “Everyone deserves a second chance that’s just the way I am.”

Booker also explained that he believes Hogan was responsible for Harlem Heat receiving a push in WCW.

“I talk about Hulk Hogan being in my corner, back in the day and a lot of the boys they may look at me and say, ‘Why is Booker T talking to [Hogan]?’ Back in the day, if it wasn’t for Hulk Hogan, I don’t know if Booker T and Stevie Ray would have got the push that we got,” Booker said. “Back in the day, Sister Sherri was an intricate detail to Harlem Heat, and our success, and it was all because of Hulk Hogan. Saying ‘Hey man, those are the guys you need to put your money behind.'”

New Day Set For Singles Pushes, Hogan Pitches Velveteen Dream Manager Role

The New Day Set For Singles Pushes

The New Day have been dominating the tag team divisions of WWE for several years now, and it looks like WWE has decided to change things up a bit. Cageside Seats reports that The New Day is set to move out of the tag team division for a while to work as a stable of singles competitors.

Big E is expected to get the biggest push of the three.

Hulk Hogan Wants To Manage Velveteen Dream

Velveteen Dream had a lot of people talking on social media when everyone saw his NXT TakeOver: Chicago in-ring attire. It seemed to be a mixture of Hulk Hogan and Prince Puma of Lucha Underground.

Hogan took to Twitter himself and noted that he’d like to manage Dream, and pitched an “all the gold,HollyWood style” idea as well. Here’s what the WWE Hall Of Famer had to say:

JR Praises NXT Takeover Match, Plus Keith Lee Reacts to Appearance

WWE Hall of Famer and one of the greatest play by play commentators in the history of the game has some high praise for the bout between Ricochet and Velveteen Dream from last night’s NXT Takeover: Chicago event.

Jim Ross took to Twitter to express his love for the match between the two NXT Superstars, stating that It’s any announcers dream to broadcast a match the level of @KingRicochet & @VelveteenWWE at #NXTChicago.” Good Ol’ JR went on to give extra special mention to the potential of the Velveteen Dream, claiming that “Considering his lack of experience, Dream can be truly spectacular for years to come.

Opinion: There are persistent rumors that Velveteen Dream is due for a call up to the main roster of WWE in the near future. Dream’s stellar bouts in his short time for NXT has gained him some proponents in the company’s top brass and his bout against Ricochet will do him no harm at all.

‘Limitless’ Keith Lee appeared during last night’s NXT Takeover: Chicago broadcast and was seen in the crowd during the event. The former EVOLVE/PROGRESS star took to Twitter to offer some comments following his appearance, you can check these out below:

Colt Cabana On Funny Moment During WWE Trial, Velveteen Dream Takes Credit For NXT Call-Up

Colt Cabana On Funny Moment During WWE Trial

During the trial between CM Punk & Colt Cabana vs. WWE Dr. Chris Amann, a lot of information came to light. At one point in the trial, Tweets were read aloud that were directed towards Amann on Twitter.

WrestleZone recently reported that a hashtag of #FireDrAmann was Tweeted by a user who’s name was Mike Litoris. Many in the courtroom begun to chuckle at the joke. Now that the trial is over, and was ruled in favor of Punk and Cabana, Colt took to Twitter to comment on Mr. Litoris’ Tweet:

Velveteen Dream Takes Credit For NXT Call-Up

As we’ve noted, Lio Rush is expected to be making his 205 Live debut soon. Rush had some run-ins with Velveteen Dream in NXT previously, and now Dream believes that because he gave Rush the “rub from The Dream,” he’s responsible for the call-up.

He also teased his NXT TakeOver: Chicago opponent, Ricochet, that he can do the same for him too:

Ricochet Responds To Velveteen Dream

For the past few days, Velveteen Dream has been firing shots at his NXT TakeOver: Chicago opponent, Ricochet, on Twitter. Ricochet has finally responded, reminding Dream of his past appearance on Tough Enough when he was eliminated halfway through the show.

He then wrote “the result will be the same at Takeover: Chicago.”:

What Is The Secret Behind The Bar’s Success?; Velveteen Dream Takes Shot At Ricochet

What Is The Secret Behind The Bar’s Success?

Cesaro replied to a photo uploaded by Sheamus of himself on Twitter, revealing what the secret to The Bar’s success is:

Velveteen Dream Takes Shot At Ricochet

Velveteen Dream took a shot at Ricochet on how he used to get low pay after matches in the indies.

Ricochet vs Velveteen Dream

Ricochet and Velveteen Dream both failed to capture the NXT North American Championship to become the inaugural champions at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. On May 9 Dream confronted Ricochet which led to a match the next week which ended in a no contest as Lars Sullivan attacked them both. The two then teamed up to take on Sullivan in a handicap match a week later but Dream back-stabbed his partner Ricochet during the match and they lost. On last week’s episode of NXT Dream challenged Ricochet for a match at NXT TakeOver: Chicago which Ricochet accepted.

The two will face off each other at WWE NXT TakeOver: Chicago II which will take place on June 16 at the Allstate Arena in Chicago.

John Cena On Who Could Be “The One,” Batista Talks Who’s Being Misused In WWE, Vince McMahon

John Cena On Who Could Be “The One”

WWE Superstar John Cena recently made an appearance at the Orlando convention MegaCon this past weekend and took questions from fans. One such question was who The Leader Of The Cenation would rather face – Velveteen Dream, Adam Cole or Ricochet.

Cena picked Dream before using a Star Wars reference, suggesting Velveteen Dream could be “the one.” Check out the video here:

Batista On Who Is Being Misused By WWE

Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet recently posted a photo on Twitter comparing Dolph Ziggler to Owen Wilson in Zoolander. Former WWE Champion Batista took some time to respond to the Tweet.

In his response, he noted that he always believed that Ziggler was a ‘totally misused talent’ in his opinion and always enjoyed working with him:

John Cena Gives High Praise To WWE NXT Star

John Cena has given some praise to one WWE NXT star.

The former WWE champion recently took part in a Q&A session at MegaCon in Orlando where he talked about various topics. During this appearance, a fan asked Cena if he would rather face NXT stars Adam Cole, Velveteen Dream or Ricochet in a match.

Cena revealed that he would rather face Velveteen Dream and explained why while giving the exciting wrestling prospect some high praise. Here is what he had to say (transcript courtesy of IWNerd):

“I would rather face Velveteen Dream. You know how in the Star Wars movies the old Jedis can look at the rookie Jedis and be like, ‘I think that’s the one.’ I kinda have a weird, odd midichlorian feeling about Velveteen Dream. I think there’s something special there.”

As of this writing, the sports entertainment company is not advertising Cena for any upcoming events. He was last seen when he beat Triple H in the opening match on the main card of the Greatest Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in April.

What are your thoughts on Cena’s comments? Sound off in the comment section below.

Dalton Castle Discusses Parallels To Velveteen Dream Character

Ring Of Honor (ROH) World Champion Dalton Castle recently did an interview with Chris Van Vliet at ROH’s Bound By Honor event. Castle was asked if he think there are any similarities between his character and WWE NXT’s Velveteen Dream:

“I don’t see that. He’s kind of playing up a Prince thing, right? Is he coming out with Boys? Then alright, we’re cool.”

Castle then discussed the pressure he has felt since becoming ROH World Champion. Where it didn’t matter too much if he messed up before winning the title, now, it’s all very different:

“Before I was Champion, it didn’t matter if I messed up. I could go out there and if I pulled off a really great match, that was great, but if I didn’t that was fine too because there was no risk. Now that I’m the Champion, I feel like every time I’m out in the ring I have to prove to everybody that I belong there.

“There’s no room for error anymore. I have to be the best wrestler I can be every time I hit the ring because as long as that Championship is around my waist, people are going to be doubting me or looking at me or wondering why.”

He was then asked if he watches WWE, to which Castle admitted that he watches all of professional wrestling:

“I watch all wrestling, it doesn’t matter what company it is. I’m the World Champion of Ring of Honor and I love this place and I’m very, very proud to be a part of it but let’s not forget I love wrestling so if there’s wrestling to be seen, I’m going to watch it.”

The Bullet Club has had a huge impact on professional wrestling over in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). While he believes it’s mathematically impossible for all members of The Bullet Club to be cool, he says he’s extremely impressed with The Young Bucks’ rise to fame:

“It’s mathematically impossible for every member of the Bullet Club to be cool, but they’re all great wrestlers. I respect the hell out of all of them. The Young Bucks have taken all of us and wrestling in general to the next level. To see how they’ve elevated themselves on their own and as they’ve elevated, I feel like all wrestling around them has elevated and I feel like we all owe them a great gratitude for that.”

WWE Reportedly Debating Whether Or Not To Bring Up NXT Star

The WWE Superstar Shake-Up is days away, and that means that some fresh new faces could be coming to the main roster from NXT.

Just this past week on the RAW and SmackDown Live after WrestleMania; we’ve seen Authors Of Pain, No Way Jose, Ember Moon, and The Iconic Duo (Peyton Royce and Billie Kay) make their main roster debut.

WWE’s Superstar Shake-Up will kickoff on RAW this Monday and continue through Tuesday night on SmackDown Live. It’s expected that a few more names from NXT will get called up from the main roster.

Per a report from Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline, multiple sources note that WWE is debating whether or not to call up NXT star Velveteen Dream. Meltzer said that if it were to happen that it would be “imminently.” This has yet to be confirmed, however, as Meltzer also says there are several schools of thought from people backstage on bringing up Velveteen.

As for other rumored call-ups, WWE recently changed the NXT banner on their website. Now-former NXT Champion Andrade Almas and Drew McIntyre have been replaced on the banner by Tommaso Ciampa, Shayna Baszler, and Velveteen Dream.

This has sparked some speculation that Almas and McIntyre could be on their way up to the main roster. Meltzer also recently reported that there has been an interesting pitch going around to call up SANITY and have Bray Wyatt turn on Matt Hardy to become the group’s new leader.

There is currently no word on why he has been missing TV time, however, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that he is listed on booking sheets for the month.

Dream hasn’t been at the WWE Performance Center since November either. There was a brief mention of Dream being injured on NXT TV but no further details were given.

Tyler Breeze Gets Into A Deep Twitter War With A Fan

NXT star Velveteen Dream has been a hot topic of discussion as of late, and he has been drawing a lot of comparisons to SmackDown Live star Tyler Breeze. Breeze was a hot singles competitor coming into the main roster from NXT in late 2015, however, that hasn’t translated over after his call-up. He has seen great success with his tag team “Fashion Files” gimmick alongside Fandango. Fans are worried that if Velveteen Dream is called up to the main roster he’d “just be another Tyler Breeze.”

Breeze has seen these criticisms on social media, and responded to one fan in particular about them. This led to a huge back-and-forth between Breeze and the fan as they discussed the current state of the WWE. Both sides brought up some very good points. Check it out:

WWE Hall Of Famer Has High Praise For Velveteen Dream

On a recent episode of their podcast, E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness, WWE Hall Of Famer Edge and former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Christian reviewed Survivor Series weekend. One subject that the former Tag Team Champs touched on was NXT TakeOver: Houston, which featured a match between Aleister Black and Velveteen Dream. It turns out “The Rated-R Superstar” is a big fan of Velveteen, as he issued out some high praise for the NXT product:

“I hadn’t seen much of Velveteen Dream but I watched him and Aleister Black. That kid’s been working 3 years, for 3 years to be where he’s at is incredible. He’s found a character, he’s fully committed to it. It’s parts Rick Rude, it’s part Prince and it’s fun. I really enjoyed that. He’s going to be a player, it was really fun to watch. It was a fun match and I thought there were a lot of cool false finishes and like I said for 3 years in or whatever, he’s going to be a good one.”

The 22-year-old has only been wrestling since October of 2014. With years to go in his career as he’s learning under some of the greatest minds in the business in NXT, Dream has a chance to be something special when his time comes to be called up to the main roster.
