  • Vickie Guerrero Reveals Her New Post-WWE Career

Vickie Guerrero, who just finished up her run with WWE a few weeks ago, posted the following on Twitter on Saturday, revealing what her new post-WWE job is:

  • Huge RAW *SPOILERS* For Monday — Hulk Hogan’s Return + Nation Of Domination!
  • Vickie Guerrero Ends Hall of Fame Career, General Manager Era

    vickie

On the June 23rd edition of Raw, Vickie Guerrero lost her pudding match against Stephanie McMahon and was fired as a result. This ended Vickie’s nine year carer with WWE. Vickie initially entered into WWE storylines with her husband, the late great Eddie Guerrero. After a successful run in WWE, Vickie is likely headed to a place in the company’s Hall of Fame right next to her late husband.

As a manager, Vickie Guerrero helped elevate up and coming stars. Dolph ZIggler’s best run as a heel began when he was managed by Guerrero. Ziggler’s promos have improved since then, but at the time Vickie’s talking helped bring heat to the Blondie from Ohio.

Speaking of heat, Vickie was a magnet when it came to the boos from the WWE Universe. There were often times when you couldn’t hear Vickie speaking because the boos were so loud. Whether it was with Ziggler, Edge or on her own as a general manager, Vickie was among the most hated heels in WWE. Her screechy voice screaming “Excuse Me!” certainly didn’t help.

    dailywrestlingnews.com

    dailywrestlingnews.com

These attributes and moments that Vickie gave to the WWE Universe along with her great relationship with Vince McMahon and the company will certainly pave the way for her rightful place in the Hall of Fame.

However, Vickie’s career is not the only thing that came to an end on June 23rd. The era of general managers in WWE is finally over now.

In 2002, WWE was split into two separate brands due to partial ownerships of Vince McMahon and WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair. McMahon was in charge of Smackdown, while Flair was the head of Raw. In the last twelve years, authority figures have come and gone. While at first it seemed that these people truly had power in WWE, the role eventually became less and less relevant.

    wwe.com

    wwe.com

Now that WWE has naturally and gradually got rid of the brand extension and Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are running the company on screen, the general managers were rarely seen anymore. Vickie was someone who spent time on and off as an authority figure in WWE, but it was never quite believable. Brad Maddox having control over the company was laughable.

Just like WWE did with the brand split, they gradually and naturally got rid of the general manager position. Maddox was fired weeks ago for letting The Shield be at ringside during a match and now Vickie is gone. The general manager position had a nice run, but let me speak for the entire WWE Universe when I wish the role the best in it’s future endeavors.

Vickie Guerrero Speaks On Her WWE Departure, “Excuse Me,” Eddie & More

The following are highlights of a new Bleacher Report interview with Vickie Guerrero:

Bleacher Report: That was quite a moment. Your final RAW. And, of course, it was no ordinary night. When did you know that it was going to involve a “mud” bath?

Vickie Guerrero: About an hour before doors (opened). (Laughs.) Of course everyone is deciding what kind of show we’re going to have that night, and the writers are still finishing the show. We find out around five o’clock. I’ve been in worse. Having a pudding match, it turns out, wasn’t that bad after all. (Laughs.)

B/R: You have to say this for the McMahon family—they aren’t going to ask the wrestlers to do anything they aren’t willing to do themselves. Stephanie was right in there with you!

Guerrero: Anything the McMahons had me do, they believed in me. I always gave them 100 percent. It meant a lot, and I was honored that Stephanie wanted to be involved in my last night.

For her to go into the pudding was an honor, and I’m happy she was involved in it. She’s always been my mentor, and I got to learn so much from her throughout the years. It was just the perfect way to end my career.

B/R: At the end of the segment you paid tribute to Eddie Guerrero. I’ll admit, it got a little misty in my house. Did you ever imagine, when you first married Eddie, that one day it would be you basking in the cheers and boos?

Guerrero: No. It was agreed between Eddie and I that I would stay home and take care of the kids while he was on the road. And I was OK with that. (Laughs.) But things progressed, and my girls are talented. For them to do some things with Eddie and to not be nervous, it was kind of scary. Eddie was like “Oh gosh, what have I started?”

I know he would have been proud for me to continue with WWE. Because when we did work together we always had a great time.

B/R: Was “excuse me” born as a catchphrase? Or was it something that happened organically? How did that become your signature phrase?

Guerrero: Excuse me was not planned at all. It was a night I was in the wheelchair, and I had this page-and-a-half promo that was written about an hour before I was supposed to go out there. And I wasn’t prepared at all and I felt overwhelmed.

Sure enough, in the middle of the promo I forgot what I was supposed to say. I kind of stood there like a deer in the headlights and the fans knew that something was wrong. I didn’t know what to do. I just started saying “Excuse me” to regroup and figure out where I was mentally in the promo.

When I did that, they just lashed out even louder at me. So I said it again. The hate that came, and just watching the facials of the people in the front row, I thought “At least that bought me some time.”

B/R: I don’t know exactly what to expect from your WWE Network special, but it’s been quite an amazing run. Some of my personal highlights were you arguing with Miss Piggy, getting Tombstoned by The Undertaker, LayCool, your NXT segments with Kaitlyn and your infamous “excuse me” panties. So many memories. What stands out for you?

Guerrero: I’m so blessed with all the fun things I’ve gotten to do. Just to have WWE have the confidence to send me out there—at first I was like “you’ve got to be kidding me?” But to sit back and look at everything that I’ve done, it’s been an amazing ride.

I thank God. This was a big plan he had for me, one we never expected. I’m blessed. Some of the things I got to do, with The Rock singing to me. He always manipulated me, bringing me out to the stage. And of course my character wants to flirt back with him because he’s gorgeous. For him to turn that switch and sing this horrible song.

RAW’s Final Segment: “Watched Raw from our LA hotel Monday at 6 pacific. Loved the last segment but thought the show was talk heavy. That seems like a trend on both WWE and Impact….talking segments that would be more effective if shorter…IMO.”

SummerSlam Poster Possibly Spoiling Money In The Bank Outcome: “This has to be frustrating for WWE….Summer Slam poster w/ Cena & Lesnar on it made public. Let the speculation begin re: MITB, etc.”

ROH’s Nashville PPV: “Why did ROH select Nashville to present their first PPV? Antiquated and not tech friendly. Disappointed that the show looked much like their weekly show. Please Sinclair….buy a lighting grid. Talent worked hard nonetheless.”

  • Vickie Guerrero Writes A Lengthy Farewell Letter To The WWE Universe

Vickie Guerrero has written a very lengthy farewell letter to her former co-workers and the WWE Universe, which you can read in its entirety at WWE.com. Here’s an excerpt:

“It has been an amazing 9-year career at WWE. I started at WWE as Eddie’s wife, and now I am leaving with my own identity. I loved performing in front of millions of people. Whether you hated or loved me, I appreciated every moment. I gained some amazing friendships that will always be kept in my heart. It is time to turn the page and start a new career in medical administration. I have so many other things to do in my life, and the most meaningful one is graduating from college in January. (Phil. 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”)

It is time to say “goodbye and thank you” to everyone from the WWE Universe, WWE Headquarters and everyone backstage.

My first “thank you” goes to my Lord Jesus Christ, for giving me a healthy mind and body to have been able to do the exciting things inside and out of the ring. He always kept me safe in my travels, and gave me the strength to improve myself emotionally and physically year after year.

To my beautiful daughters, Shaul and Sherilyn – Thank you for inspiring me to be better than yesterday. Your support was unconditional when I traveled. I still feel sad that I had to miss so many of your milestones. I love you girls with all of my heart.

Linda and Vince McMahon – I am grateful for the opportunities you gave me. Thank you for having my family feel accepted as a part of yours. I am thankful for the friendship we have built over the years. Vince, Eddie loved you like a dad! He had so much respect for you and it was always important to make you proud. Thank you for believing in me when I didn’t!

Stephanie – You are the true example of an independent, strong and successful woman. It has been an honor to work next to you. Thank you for being a part of my last night at WWE. I was honored! I wish happiness and love for Paul, you and the girls.

To all the agents – Thank you for all of your help, advice and guiding me to have my segments successful… Arn, Fit, Dean, Road Dogg, Scott, Joey, Mike, Kidman, Jamie and Johnny.”

Vickie Guerrero Comments On Her WWE Departure

After 9 long years with WWE, Vickie Guerrero is officially done with the company.

#ThankYouVickie was trending worldwide on Twitter last night during RAW – and rightfully so. For almost a decade, Vickie Guerrero was a memorable on-air character that the WWE Universe loved to hate. Her ability to rile up arenas across the world with two simple words, “Excuse Me,” was impressive to say the least. It was a great run.

Vickie Gurrero Leaving WWE, Backstage Reaction To Her RAW Angle, RAW Fallout

    – On RAW, we saw Vickie Gurrero involved in series of skits with The Authority that ultimately saw Stephanie McMahon vomiting all over Vickie. This is setting up Vickie being written off television. We reported exclusively around WrestleMania 30 that Vickie was finishing up with WWE to pursue a career in medical administration. While she extended her time with WWE by a few months, she is in fact leaving the company.

In related Vickie Gurrero news, there were a lot of people rolling their eyes last night at the nature of her skit with Stephanie. Aside from the skit being ‘classic’ Vince McMahon gross-out comedy, many felt the vomit angle was in bad taste, since’s Vickie’s daughter (former NXT Diva Shaul Marie Guerrero) took time off from WWE due to her suffering from an eating disorder.

    – Here’s this week’s RAW Fallout video, featuring a ‘”sick” Stephanie McMahon being escorted out of the building by her husband, Triple H:

  • The Directionless Divas Division

After AJ Lee cut her version of a “Pipebomb” promo last year on Raw, it seemed like the WWE would finally spend more time developing in-depth plotlines for its Divas division.

After all, the elements were there for an intriguing Divas division: a fresh batch of competitors, a champion who was miffed at not gaining exposure, and a highly successful reality television show documenting every move along the way.

AJ Lee has been champion for nearly a year. Is it time for another Diva to take the title?

AJ Lee has been champion for nearly a year. Is it time for another Diva to take the title?

Instead, it seems as if the division has been on autopilot in recent months. AJ Lee has held the championship longer than any Diva in the history of the company, but her run has seemed stale recently. This is taking nothing away from Lee as a champion though. I think she is great and is certainly a worth champion.

It is instead creative’s fault for not doing anything worthwhile with her as champion. They have instead chosen to simply plug in a new challenger each month without building any sort of rivalry, with the challenger usually gaining a title shot by winning a random number-one contender’s match instead of actually engaging in a feud with Lee.
