WrestleMania 35 May End Up Becoming Longest Show In WWE History

WrestleMania 35 is quickly approaching and the card is shaping up. With that being said, fans should expect several more matches to be added to the lineup. In fact, there are currently 17 matches in total that are rumored to take place.

Forbes published a new report by Alfred Konuwa looking at the confirmed and rumored matches for this year’s WrestleMania. In this report, he brought up how with so many matches, the event has the chance to become the longest event in WWE history.

WrestleMania 34 holds the spot with 14 matches total and a total runtime of 314 minutes (over 5 hours). The runtime for the year before (Wrestlemania 33) was 305 minutes. In 2016 for WrestleMania 32, the runtime was 286 minutes.

Demon Balor Featured On WrestleMania 35 Artwork

It’s been a while since we last saw the Demon persona of Finn Balor on WWE Programming but it appears that the former Champion maybe bringing in his alter ego for WrestleMania 35.

WWE recently updated their WWE Network page of WWE.com with graphics to promote the upcoming WrestleMania 35 event and it features some top stars of the company.

What’s interesting to note here is that alongside stars like Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, we see Finn Balor being featured on the graphic in his Demon persona:

Demon-Balor-WrestleMania

While not confirmed, many are taking this as an indication that Balor will be bringing in his alter ego to the upcoming show instead of appearing as himself.

Demon Balor was last seen during his SummerSlam match with Baron Corbin last year, though it was an unadvertised appearance for him where Balor ended up picking up a squash win over Corbin.

There is no word yet on who Finn Balor will be facing at the upcoming event. At one point it was rumored that he will be part of a multi-person Intercontinental Championship match.

However, the former NXT Star lost the belt at this week’s episode of Raw. Now, this hint about Demon Balor is being considered as a sign that the company might have something more significant planned for him after all.

Jim Ross: Kurt Angle Deserves A WrestleMania Moment

If Jim Ross had a say, Kurt Angle’s last match would be a memorable WrestleMania moment.

On this week’s Jim Ross Report podcast, JR says that Angle’s legacy is deserving of a featured presentation on WWE’s biggest stage. “I believe in my heart that Kurt Angle needs to go out as a hero, as a superstar, as a Hall of Famer,” says Ross. “He should have his moment at WrestleMania.”

On the surface, you could take that to mean that Ross is advocating for Kurt to win his retirement match. Not so, says Ross. Rather, he says that a good match is more important than the outcome.

“That means he should have his moment, with the right opponent, that Kurt Angle can go out and have as good a match as he possibly can at this stage of his career,” Ross says.
“He deserves it.”

Kurt Angle’s WrestleMania Moment

As to potential opponents for Angle, JR believes that the gold medalist deserves to face a top star.

“There’s a lot of guys that are big time stars that don’t have matches,” says Ross. “I don’t know who Samoa Joe is going to wrestle, I don’t know who Roman Reigns is going to wrestle I don’t know who John Cena is going to wrestle.”

No matter who Angle faces, Ross is just hoping that Kurt gets the sendoff he thinks he has earned.

“Kurt Angle’s legacy should not be taken for granted.”

Do you think Angle will get a WrestleMania moment?

Vince McMahon Allegedly Still Undecided On WrestleMania 35 Main Event

It’s been widely believed that WrestleMania 35 would feature the RAW Women’s Championship match in the main event. This would be a history making first for the promotion.

In case you have somehow missed it, one of the biggest storylines this year revolves around the feud between Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch. The long-standing belief being that these women would close out the show come April 7th.

This may not be the case, according to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet.

Satin shared that, apparently, Vince McMahon has yet to finalise his decision over which matchup will main event WrestleMania 35.

The WWE Universe is heavily invested in the feud for the WWE RAW Women’s Championship. Equally so for the women involved. WWE has placed themselves into a position where they could still headline, if Vince McMahon decided.

Kofi-Mania

For what it’s worth, SmackDown Live announcer, Tom Philips, has shared his thoughts on what should main event WrestleMania this year. He admitted that being a SmackDown guy, he “selfishly” would love to see Daniel Bryan vs Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship close the show.

If WWE wanted to finally give Kofi an opportunity with the championship, ending the show with a feel-good moment like that would be an amazing way to do it — one that juxtaposes nicely with Daniel Bryan’s own victory at WrestleMania 30.

Which match would you close the show with? Does the Bryan/Kofi feud have enough momentum to justify main eventing at ‘Mania?

New Match Set For WWE WrestleMania 35, Updated Card

A new match has been announced for WWE WrestleMania 35. On Thursday, WWE confirmed that AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton would take place at the biggest event of the year for the company.

This has been a match that had been teased by WWE for a few weeks now on SmackDown Live through backstage segments. The two former World Champions have also been working dark main events the last two weeks.

WWE presents the WrestleMania 35 pay-per-view event on Sunday, April 7, 2019 in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium that will air on the WWE Network. WWE will be announcing more matches for this show in the coming weeks.

WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair is expected to headline the show. Here is the updated card:

Dash Wilder Reveals The Revival’s Dream Match At WrestleMania 35

Last month, The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) defeated Bobby Roode and Chad Gable to become the WWE RAW Tag Team Champions. At Fastlane this past weekend, the pair successfully defended their titles against Roode and Gable, and Aleister Black and Ricochet. Now, it remains to be seen who the duo will defend their titles against at WrestleMania 35.

Speaking to Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, Wilder was asked about his dream match for The Revival at this year’s WrestleMania. Wilder responded by naming a two-out-of-three falls match against Roode and Gable for the RAW Tag Team Titles:

“Personally this year – I don’t know it’s possible or within reach but we’re going to do everything in our power make it – would be a match with Roode and Gable, two-out-of-three falls, for the tag team titles.

“I feel like those guys have so much to offer as a tag team and they’ve only scratched the surface – especially on TV – compared to what they can do. I know what each guy is capable of individually and what they’re capable of as a team because we’ve wrestled them on live events all across the world at this point.

“We’ve had 40-minute matches, two-out-of-three falls matches, straight-up matches and I can’t say enough how much more they have to offer to this division and how great both guys are – as much as I love that we’ve beaten them [laughs]. I’d love to have a two-out-of-three falls match with them because the four of us will go out there, work harder than anybody else is going to work and we’ll give fans something to remember.

“That’s something we’re going to pitch for until the day is over. I don’t know if it’s going to happen, what’s going to go on but up until WrestleMania goes off the air we’ll be pitching that!”

WrestleMania 35 goes down from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7, 2019. Only a few matches have been confirmed for the card thus far. None of them include WWE’s plans for The Revival and their RAW Tag Team Titles. Check out the updated WrestleMania card here:

  • WWE Universal Championship: (C) Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins
  • Triple Threat Match for the WWE RAW Women’s Championship: (C) Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch
  • WWE Cruiserweight Championship: (C) Buddy Murphy vs. (Tournament Winner TBD)
  • No Holds Barred: Triple H vs. Batista
  • Kurt Angle vs. TBD
  • Shane McMahon vs. The Miz

Roman Reigns Eyeing Another WrestleMania Main Event, WM35 Tailgate Party

Earlier this week, Roman Reigns took part in WWE’s big WrestleMania 36 press conference from Tampa Bay, Florida. In a video posted on Twitter, Reigns spoke about battling back from leukemia and promising to be part of WrestleMania 36, competing on the card. He also said he hopes to be part of the show’s main event.

“To be able to reveal the news we are here in Raymond James Stadium right now and to be able to say that WrestleMania is going to be here in Tampa and I’m going to be a part of it….hopefully the main event, but no doubt a part of it.

“Present. On the show. Holding it down. Doing my thing. It’s been a crazy couple of weeks, a crazy few months, but it feels like things are starting to get back to normal now and that feels really good.”

You can see that video here:

WrestleMania Tailgate Party

TailgateJoe, the largest game-day fan club and tailgate party at Metlife Stadium since 2009 and one of the largest in the NFL is going to be grilling up the good stuff at Metlife for Wrestlemania 35.

If you’re attending WrestleMania 35, this tailgate party is a great way to get the day kicked off in a big way. The tailgating kicks off Sunday, April 7th at 12 noon in the MetLife Stadium Lot E15. Food on hand includes the famous Joe Mac Burger, hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, chicken tacos and much more.

Rumored Matchup For John Cena At WrestleMania 35

John Cena is scheduled for a book signing in New York City on April 5th. This happens to be over WrestleMania weekend.

It has been speculated that this might not be mere coincidence, and that Cena will be appearing at WrestleMania in order to compete.

His rumored opponent? The new United States Champion, Samoa Joe.

R-Truth held another US Open Challenge on SmackDown Live this week in honor of his hero, wanting to make him proud. Samoa Joe, however, would emerge victorious this past Tuesday during what became a Fatal Four Way matchup.

“I Sure As Hell Ain’t A Man Who Loves John Cena”

After his win, Samoa Joe would be interviewed backstage by Kayla Braxton. His words teased a future confrontation with John Cena.

When Braxton brought up that his fellow WWE Superstars “accused” Joe of being unable to win “the big one,” Joe would interrupt her.

“Accusations? No gentlemen, they were not making accusations. They were merely unanswered prayers. Because every SmackDown Superstar, they know the lengths I’ll go to win gold and they fear what I’ll do to keep it.

“You see, gentlemen, it’s quite simple — the champ is not one to come out here and do dance breaks. I don’t pander to the masses of the unexceptional, and I sure as hell ain’t a man who loves John Cena,” Joe claimed.

“Hustle, loyalty and respect? No, no, no. All my opponents will find is disrespect for any man who has the audacity to come for the king and his crown. And to all you SmackDown Superstars who wanna lie awake at night, every night, having nightmares about the day you might step in the ring against me…rest assured boys, I’ll be along soon enough to make you all go night-night.”

Despite being off WWE television, John Cena’s name and legacy has been mentioned a number of times, particularly around the United States Championship and R-Truth’s short run of US Open Challenges.

With all this name dropping, it seems apparent that WWE is prepping the WWE Universe for the return of John Cena. But could it be against Joe for the US Championship at WrestleMania 35?

News On Reasoning For WWE Booking Triple Threat Main Event For WrestleMania

As the Road To Wrestlemania continues, it’s looking more and more like a Triple Threat match will, in fact, determine who will be the RAW Women’s Champion. Most fans preferred to see a singles contest between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch. However, WWE has decided to insert Charlotte Flair into the mix.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reports that injury risk played a factor in WWE’s decision. These days, WWE stars are getting hurt a lot more frequently. One reason WWE was motivated to book a Triple Threat was because, if one woman became injured, they could still make a singles match. The report notes that this is not a major reason for the decision, but it was one reason.

Currently, the match only officially includes Rousey and Flair at WrestleMania. However, on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, WWE set the scene for how Lynch will be added to the match. If she defeats Flair in singles competition at Fastlane this weekend (Sun. March 10, 2019), “The Irish Lass Kicker” will be WrestleMania-bound. Lynch has been dealing with a storyline injury for the past few weeks on WWE TV.

RAW ended with the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble winner taking a vicious beating from the RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. Her condition will likely be worsened for her match with Flair, so that should be a key storyline Sunday night. The Triple Threat match between Flair, Rousey, and Lynch is expected to be the first-ever women’s match to headline a WrestleMania card.

What do you think about the Triple Threat match between Lynch, Rousey, and Flair?

Seth Rollins In-Ring Status Forced RAW Changes This Week

It looks like 2019 Royal Rumble winner Seth Rollins was the cause of a few changes to this week’s Monday Night RAW. Rollins was expected to get physical on RAW this week but was not cleared to compete, per Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer. As a result, some re-writes to the show were made.

Rollins was initially to be heavily featured on Monday night. Instead, he did an interview segment with Charly Caruso backstage. RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey had been penciled in for a squash match with Alexa Bliss. She instead headlined the program opposite Ruby Riott in a more long-form contest. Re-writes reportedly began around 1 or 2 P.M. local time when Vince McMahon arrived at the arena.

The actual script wasn’t complete until 30 minutes after RAW had already begun. Changes were still being made an hour and a half into the program.

Rollins’ Injury

Rollins has been dealing with back issues for some time now. The injury does not require surgery, only rest, and, likely, stems. “The Architect” is close to being cleared to return to action, but was unable to do so for this week’s show. He’s still scheduled for all RAW TVs until WrestleMania, but is not being advertised for house shows. Rollins hasn’t wrestled a match since facing Dean Ambrose on the post-Royal Rumble episode of RAW.

What do you think about Rollins not being cleared forcing changes to RAW?

Report: Daniel Bryan Facing Kevin Owens At WrestleMania

For those of you hoping Daniel Bryan will defend his WWE Title against Kofi Kingston at WrestleMania 35, we have some bad news. Bleacher Report’s Jeremy Botter reports that, as of yesterday (Tues. February 19, 2019) the plan is for Bryan to face the returning Kevin Owens in New Jersey:

https://twitter.com/jeremybotter/status/1097991241990590464

This makes sense considering a previous report from Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer, who suggests Owens will be returning as a babyface. Owens has been out-of-action for the past several months due to injury. WWE has been teasing his return with selfie promos in recent weeks.

On last night’s episode of SmackDown Live, Shane McMahon confirmed Bryan vs. Kingston for Fastlane. The New Day member has risen tremendously in popularity as of late. He was one of the final two, along with Bryan, in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match this past weekend.

Unfortunately, Kingston came up just short of his first-ever World Title in WWE. However, he’ll get a one-on-one shot at Fastlane from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio on March 10, 2019. As always, plans change frequently in WWE all the time. With that being said, perhaps there’s still hope Kingston will get his WrestleMania moment after all.

What do you think about a possible WrestleMania match between Bryan and Owens?

Seth Rollins On His WrestleMania 31 Shocker, Facing Brock Lesnar At WM35

Seth Rollins booked his ticket to WrestleMania 35 after winning this year’s Royal Rumble matchup. This victory will see him go up against “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship.

It’s not the first time, however, that Rollins will be sharing the WrestleMania stage with Lesnar. Back at WrestleMania 31 in 2015, Seth would cash in the Money In The Bank contract, inserting himself into the main event of Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar. This cash in would see him leaving California the new WWE Champion.

Speaking with Edge and Christian on their podcast, E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness, Seth Rollins reflected on that momentous cash in and discussed his upcoming match-up against Brock Lesnar in April.

He recalled that he won the Money In The Bank briefcase after turning heel against his then-stablemates in The Shield. WWE had no immediate plans for him using his opportunity, so he decided to come up with one himself: the WrestleMania 35 cash in.

“Why The Hell Not”

His mindset regarding the pitch was “why the hell not” justifying it by explaining that it had “never been done, and strangely, I had a little bit of foresight in the sense that I saw how the momentum with Roman [Reigns] was shifting toward going into that WrestleMania.”

Seth foresaw the WWE Universe turning against Roman, especially after he won that year’s Rumble. His prediction would quickly come true.

“[…] I remember the next day, again, having the conversation with Hunter for the second time because I had pitched the idea a little bit at the end of the year before, and I just wanted to remind him that I have this idea on the table. I think it’s a pretty good one and even if it’s not the idea, it could easily be a contingency plan if the main event at WrestleMania doesn’t come together how you see it. Just, keep it in the back of your head, ya know? Yeah, I pitched the idea and I strongly felt like it was a good one. I felt like I was the guy. Again, I went to him and said, ‘I want the ball.’”

“This Is The One I Want”

Looking to the future, Rollins admits he “can’t wait” for his scheduled clash against Lesnar at WrestleMania 35.

“This is the one that I wanted,” he stated. “And whether or not we’re the main event or Ronda [Rousey] and Becky [Lynch] is the main event, to me, this is the one I wanted. When I was fourteen years old and I said, ‘I’m going to main event WrestleMania,’ this is the one.”

Rollins continued, “I’m almost thirty-three, so to be able to have that, and to be able to go in to the next couple months to build to that moment, and to have the audience on my side, have them really just want me to take that title off of Lesnar, it’s really an exciting time and I’m looking forward to making some magic with him. He’s one of the people, love him or hate him, he’s one of the best performers in the WWE.”

Original Plans For Becky Lynch At WrestleMania, Details On Stephanie Feud

With the Royal Rumble out the way and the women’s victor, Becky Lynch, established, it appears WWE is full steam ahead for WrestleMania 35. Despite the WWE Universe wanting “The Man” Becky Lynch to face off against “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey one-on-one, rumors still persist revolving around Charlotte Flair’s inclusion in the match.

This week on Monday Night Raw, Lynch was involved in a storyline featuring Stephanie McMahon. “The Man” would find herself suspended after refusing Stephanie’s demands to see a doctor regarding her knee. This prompted her to then attack WWE’s Chief Brand Officer on live television.

According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, there could be plans of a feud between the two women on the way to WrestleMania:

“The idea very much is, when this gets going, that Stephanie is a heel and they are doing — it is the beginning of kind of a Stephanie in a heel thing trying to hold down Becky because they only know one way to do this.”

Regarding Lynch’s hotly debated WrestleMania 35 matchup in April, Meltzer said that the “original [plan was] Becky Lynch beating Ronda Rousey. I assume Becky Lynch is still beating Ronda Rousey in the match. Perhaps they do something where she beats Charlotte Flair and they could come back with Becky Lynch vs Ronda Rousey in a singles [match] and Ronda will stay for an extra month. That’s certainly possible, that’s maybe even the way to do it.”

Current Plans For Shane McMahon’s WrestleMania Opponent

Shane McMahon has been part of some very exciting WrestleMania matches since his return, and with WrestleMania 35 approaching, people have been wondering who he would face at the Show Of Shows this time.

McMahon has been considered for a number of matches in the past, but with a latest update from Sports Illustrated, we might finally know who he will face at the show.

According to the site, WWE is planning a one on one bout for the former SmackDown Live Commissioner and his opponent would be none other than his partner and the other half of the SmackDown Tag Team Champions the Miz.

The Miz and Shane have been engaged in a storyline since last year so it makes sense for this angle to culminate at the upcoming PPV with a match on the Grandest Stage Of Them All.

However, these two haven’t exactly been feuding. So it will be interesting to see how the company plans to put these partners against each other and which one of them turns heel for this rivalry.

It’s worth mentioning here that there were reports of Shane McMahon turning heel late last year after Raw’s clean sweep over SmackDown during Survivor Series.

Now the question is if we can expect to see that heel turn now with the company planning a feud between the two?

Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar Set For WrestleMania 35

Last night (Sun. January 28, 2019) Seth Rollins won the 2019 Royal Rumble match. With the victory, “The Architect” earned the right to challenge a World Champion of his choosing at WrestleMania 35. He had the choice of either WWE Champion Daniel Bryan of SmackDown Live, or Universal Champion Brock Lesnar of Monday Night RAW.

Rollins opened up tonight’s Monday Night RAW discussing his victory. He said he has a difficult decision on his hands, and will take his time to decide. However, Triple H came out to interrupt. Although he was happy for Rollins and his dream coming true, he said the WWE needed Rollins’ decision by tonight. In the closing segment of RAW, things became very clear.

Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman came out to the ring, refusing to wait on Rollins. In the middle of Heyman’s promo, Rollins came out to interrupt. He starred down Lesnar before attacking “The Beast.” However, Lesnar regained the upper hand and hit Rollins with six F5s as the show went off-air:

No official announcement was made on the program about Rollins challenging Lesnar at WrestleMania. However, the WWE website confirmed after the program that their match is now official. Rollins will challenge Lesnar at WrestleMania 35 for the Universal Championship.

WrestleMania 35 goes down from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7, 2019.

Ronda Rousey Fires Back at Report That She’s Leaving WWE Soon

Ronda Rousey is keeping her private life private and that includes any plans she might have for starting a family with her husband Travis Browne.

The reigning WWE RAW women’s champion fired back at a report that surfaced earlier this week from the Wrestling Observer that suggested Rousey could be leaving WWE after a year with the company with plans to start a family in the very near future.

Additional reports stated that Rousey could stick around WWE after WrestleMania but work a drastically reduced schedule similar to other part-time superstars like The Undertaker or John Cena.

It’s no secret that Rousey has said numerous times in the past that she wanted to have children with her husband but she’s not going to talk to anybody about the timing of when that will happen.

Rousey fired back at that report with a statement released through ESPN reporter Ramona Shelburne, who is a regular collaborator with the former UFC women’s champion.

“I honestly don’t know why [anyone] feels like [they’re] an authority to speak on the plans for my uterus,” Rousey said. “If I responded every single time the world speculated what I was doing with my womb I would not have a free moment in the day.

“I really don’t feel like I should have to respond to that kind of thing. It’s my vagina, my life, keep the speculations to yourself. Leave me and my reproductive organs alone.”

Obviously Rousey didn’t flat out deny that she might be leaving WWE or possibly working a reduced scheduled after WrestleMania but she certainly isn’t going to justify rumors based around her private life.

It’s worth noting that Rousey has spoken (extensively) about her plans to start a family. Back in 2015, she told Fox Sports, “I’m an ovarian goldmine. I can’t waste these genes.” Last year, she told ESPN, “[Husband Travis Browne and I] had a set timeline set, and now we aren’t so sure about it because I love [WWE] so much,” she said. “I guess that’s the best thing that could’ve happened, that I would love it so much it would be so hard to stop.”

Rousey is scheduled to defend her RAW women’s title this Sunday at the Royal Rumble where she takes on Sasha Banks in one of the featured bouts on the card.

There are high expectations for Rousey to take part in one of the main matches at WrestleMania 35 including a potential and long awaited showdown with Smackdown women’s superstar Becky Lynch.

What Rousey’s plans are after WrestleMania remain a mystery but if she’s taking time off to start a family, she made it clear that she’ll be the one to make that announcement and no one else.

“I’ve not kept it a secret that I would definitely want to start a family,” Rousey said. “But how do you go about doing that? I love this way more than I thought that I would. So do you just keep going until you just happen to get pregnant? Or should you stop and go try and get pregnant? Or is going and trying to get pregnant putting yourself on the spot and then you’re less likely to get pregnant? I’ve never had a baby before, I don’t know these kinds of things.

“It would be kind of cool to just keep acting and then one day, ‘Hey, surprise twist, I’m pregnant.’ That would be fun. There’s a lot of things up in the air. A lot of decisions that we’ve gotta make as a family. I’m trying to figure it out as I go along.”

Sean Waltman Predicts WrestleMania 35 Main Event

Sean Waltman believes that women’s wrestling is about to reach another milestone.

On this week’s X-Pac 12360, Waltman spoke about the upcoming women’s Royal Rumble match, and what is on the line.

“The stakes are really high for the women’s Rumble winner,” said Waltman. “I think the women’s Rumble winner is going to be in the main event at WrestleMania.”

The long-rumored main event for that show has been Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey taking on “The Man” Becky Lynch. Whether or not that match actually goes on last that night, though has been up for debate.

In Waltman’s mind, that debate is settled.

“Ronda will be in the main event at WrestleMania,” Waltman said.

As to whether Rousey will face Lynch as expected, or faces Charlotte Flair instead, or those three face off in a triple threat match, Waltman is not certain.

“I don’t know which way they want to go with it,” Waltman said. “As long as they do a good job building it up, I would be fine with either Charlotte or Becky if it’s just a singles match.”

Waltman also believes that the fact that Rousey is on Raw, while Flair and Lynch are on Smackdown, is not a serious obstacle.

“They could do title for title,” said Waltman.

Ultimately, Waltman says that he has high hopes for the Rumble match, regardless of where the storyline leads.

“The women might outdo the men, as far as quality of the Rumble.”

You can hear Waltman’s full comments below.

Charlotte Flair Believes It’s Her Destiny To Main Event WrestleMania

WWE recently launched their brand new Performance Center in the UK. During the launch, former SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair did an interview with “Inside The Ropes.” “The Queen” discussed her WWE career and all that she has been able to accomplish in such a short time. Flair is a former WWE Divas Champion, a four-time RAW Women’s Champion, and a two-time SDL Women’s Champion.

She has been a huge piece of WWE’s Women’s Evolution in the past several years. However, due to Charlotte being the daughter of two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair, many attribute her success to her bloodline. Flair admitted that this notion used to make her feel bad. It wasn’t until around December when Flair stopped apologizing for being “that good.” She also said it’s her destiny to main event a WrestleMania:

“For so long, I’ve felt like I couldn’t brag or be proud of my accomplishments, that so many people were like, ‘Well why is Charlotte flair this many times champion, why is she always in the title picture, why has she main evented RAW and SmackDown?’ And when people kept saying that, it made me feel bad,” Flair said.

“I actually felt bad for everything I had accomplished. And certain individuals made me feel bad instead of saying like, ‘Why can’t you just be proud of me knowing that, whoever talent I face is on the journey with me?’

“And I think once December rolled around, I had just had enough of where I can’t apologize for being good. I am that good. And I am going to continue to prove to people that I am the baddest woman on the planet, and nothing’s gonna stop me, and it is my destiny to main event WrestleMania.”

Becky Lynch was scheduled to face RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey at WWE’s Survivor Series pay-per-view (PPV) in November. Unfortunately, Lynch suffered a broken nose and concussion during an angle on RAW. Flair took Lynch’s place in the match, sparking a rivalry between “The Queen” and the former UFC champion. Recent reports suggest the first-ever women’s match to main event a WrestleMania will be Lynch vs. Rousey.

However, it’s possible Flair finds her way into the match once WrestleMania rolls around:

“I don’t care what woman is standing in front of me,” Flair said. “WrestleMania is my goal because I am the main event.”

Current Plans For John Cena’s WrestleMania 35 Opponent

It looks like a very interesting match-up could be in the works for John Cena at WrestleMania 35. Courtesy of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, chatter behind-the-scenes hinted at a bout between Cena and NXT call-up Lars Sullivan. Sullivan was scheduled to make his main roster debut on the January 7th RAW from Orlando.

The Observer notes that Sullivan didn’t show up at the arena, or he did and wound up leaving shortly after, because of an anxiety attack. It was noted that WWE’s front office is a lot more understanding of mental health issues after their experiences with Mauro Ranallo. Sullivan was spoken to and things were able to be smoothed over.

Sullivan was then set for a dark match at the January 8th SmackDown Live tapings. However, instead of going to Jacksonville, Sullivan ended up flying back home to Colorado. Not much else is known about the situation other than that. Initially, Sullivan was scheduled to receive a monster push on the main roster. The Cena match was confirmed, and with Cena working a part-time schedule, and Sullivan getting such a big push, logically, one could assume Sullivan were to win the bout.

Meltzer noted that, while the match was confirmed, no talk of the bout’s finish had begun this early into the process. All signs indicate that the program would’ve started at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view (PPV) this month. Whether or not WWE follows through with the Cena vs. Sullivan program could depend on what happens in Phoenix.

What do you think about a possible match between Cena and Sullivan?

Bobby Roode Shares His Wrestlemania 35 Dream Match

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, one-half of the current Raw tag team champions, Bobby Roode, disclosed what his Wrestlemania 35 dream match would be.

For the “Glorious” One, he would love to face off against the team of The Revival (Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson).

“I would love to have that opportunity to walk down that aisle at WrestleMania in a match for the Raw tag team championships,” he admitted.

“In recent weeks we’ve had some really good matches against The Revival. I’d hate to give them another reason to make them think they’re better than they are, but they are a tremendous tag team. With the chemistry that we have together, with the right circumstances at WrestleMania I think we could blow the doors off that place.”

But it doesn’t stop there. If Roode got his way, he and his partner, Chad Gable, would be able to wrestle this match under a specific stipulation — though he’s undecided as to which he would prefer.

“A two-out-of-three falls match or a tag team, iron man match,” he said. “That would be amazing.”

With Wrestlemania 35 taking place on April 7th, WWE still has time to be able to build a feud between the two teams that could see them settle things in a final confrontation on “grandest stage of them all.”

Is this a feud you’d like to see? Out of the two Roode mentioned, what would you prefer to see — two out of three falls, or an iron man tag team match?

Update On WWE’s Plans For WrestleMania Main Event

During Monday’s edition of WWE Raw from Orlando, Florida, Sasha Banks earned the right to challenge Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey at the Royal Rumble. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, this was not the original plan for the match. Before WWE settled on Sasha Banks as Rousey’s Rumble opponent, the original plan was for Rousey to defend against Charlotte Flair.

Had Rousey faced Flair at Royal Rumble, the belief is that her next major feud would have been against Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania 35. There is still the possibility that we see Ronda vs Flair at Elimination Chamber in February.

Since this switch, Meltzer has speculated that WWE could be building towards a triple-threat matchup. The match would see Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey compete for the championship.

“It’s not official that it’s gonna be a three-way at Wrestlemania,” Meltzer said. “It sure seems that way, yes. I was told it’s not official, it’s under consideration and because it’s under consideration the decision was made to pull the match from the Royal Rumble, which means they’re leaning toward it.”

Ronda’s actions at the end of December’s TLC event, costing both Lynch and Flair during their triple-threat match against Asuka, definitely sets up a natural series of matches. But with Rousey already holding a victory over Charlotte at Survivor Series last year, it will be interesting to see how WWE bring the three women together as we approach Wrestlemania.

What do you think? Are you happy with a triple-threat at Wrestlemania 35 or would you have preferred Becky Lynch vs Ronda Rousey?

Update On WWE Plans For WrestleMania 35 Main Event

The latest on the current plans for the top match at WrestleMania 35 has surfaced online. According to Dave Meltzer, he reported in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey is slated to take on Becky Lynch.

This is the plan as of this week and a decision regarding if it will serve as the main event won’t likely be decided until the show gets closer. There’s always a chance that this will be turned into a Triple Threat match to include Charlotte Flair.

Also, the original plan was not for Rousey to be in the main event but rather was saved for Roman Reigns who was going to get the headliner role on the show but that changed when he got his leukemia diagnosis. The belief is that his opponent at Mania would have been Dean Ambrose. Also, having Ambrose turn heel would have probably been on Reigns and not Seth Rollins.

The opponent for Rousey at this show has gone through some changes over the last few months. At one point, Natalya was supposed to face Rousey at Mania but that got scrapped once Jim Neidhart died and Vince didn’t want to turn Natalya heel on Rousey any time soon.

Then it was switched to Flair vs. Rousey for the RAW Women’s Championship as the headliner but those plans changed once Lynch got mega over with the fans.

Moving along, WWE had to nix plans for Lynch to face Rousey at this year’s Survivor Series pay-per-view event in Los Angeles, California once Lynch suffered a broken nose and concussion during the RAW invasion angle. Instead, Rousey faced Flair at the show. Thus, the reason they want Rousey vs. Lynch at Mania.

WrestleMania 35 is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 7, 2019, in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium. This event airs on pay-per-view (PPV) and WWE Network.

NXT TakeOver Moved To Friday Night Of WrestleMania 35 Weekend

WWE has announced a change to WrestleMania 35 weekend. NXT TakeOver will now take place on Friday night that weekend as opposed to Saturday. The Hall of Fame ceremony will now take place on Saturday night instead.

“WWE will be going back to its previous WrestleMania Week schedule with NXT TakeOver on Friday, April 5 and the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday, April 6. We believe this better serves our fans,” WWE stated to Pro Wrestling Sheet.

The change in schedule also means WWE avoids going head-to-head with ROH/NJPW. The G1 Supercard is scheduled for April 6th, 2019 from Madison Square Garden.

WrestleMania 35 Weekend

WrestleMania 35 takes place Sunday, April 7th, 2019 from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. As has become custom in recent years, however, a weeklong celebration will be held in the area.

“WrestleMania is more than just a one-day event,” a WWE press release reads. “It is a week-long celebration. In addition to WrestleMania, other events include: WrestleMania Axxess®, WWE’s interactive fan festival, and four spectacular live events taking place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, including the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony; NXT® TakeOver®, Monday Night Raw® and SmackDown® Live.”

“WWE will also host activities designed to give back to the local community during WrestleMania Week including Be a STAR® bullying prevention rallies, hospital visits and Make-A-Wish events. “
