Big Name Not Scheduled For WWE WrestleMania 36, Latest Card

The card for WrestleMania 36 is starting to take shape but this year’s show will not feature one future WWE Hall of Famer.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Triple H is not scheduled for the show. If he doesn’t work then it will be the first time since WrestleMania 23 that Triple H has not wrestled at the event.

As previously reported, Ronda Rousey and WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg are currently not scheduled for WrestleMania 36. It was also noted that there are plans for six different women’s matches to be featured on the card.

Female matches on the card include Shayna Baszler vs. RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, Naomi vs. SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley, the 3rd annual WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal, a tag team match with WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Asuka and Kairi Sane, and another match to be named.

The 7th annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal is also set to take place this year. There’s also no word on what Sheamus and Daniel Bryan will be doing. The belief is that there will be a blow-off to the feud with Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins.

WWE presents the WrestleMania 36 pay-per-view event on Sunday, April 5, 2020 in Tampa, Florida at the Raymond James Stadium that will air on the WWE Network. Here is the updated confirmed card:

  • WWE Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Drew McIntyre
  • WWE NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair

Potential Title Match For WrestleMania 36

A new match has been revealed for the upcoming WWE WrestleMania 36 PPV.

It was noted by Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live that the current plan is for SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley to defend the title against Naomi at the biggest event of the year for WWE.

WWE has already announced Carmella vs. Naomi for Friday’s episode of SmackDown on FOX. The winner of this contest will then challenge Bayley for the strap at the Super ShowDown show in Saudi Arabia on February 27.

As of this writing, there’s no word yet on whether this currently planned match at WrestleMania will have an impact on Bayley’s title defense at Super ShowDown.

There’s no word yet on if they plan to do Carmella vs. Bayley in Saudi Arabia, and then Naomi vs. Bayley at WrestleMania.

Becky Lynch’s WrestleMania Opponent To Be Determined At Elimination Chamber

On Monday, WWE confirmed that a Women’s Elimination Chamber match will take place. It will feature WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Asuka, Shayna Baszler, Ruby Riott, Sarah Logan, Liv Morgan, and Natalya.

The winner of the contest will become the new #1 contender to RAW Women’s Championship and challenge Lynch for the strap at WrestleMania 36 the following month.

As noted, Baszler vs. Lynch has been rumored for WrestleMania 36. The feud kicked off last week when Baszler attacked Lynch, who made her latest title defense as RAW Women’s Champion against Asuka. The segment ended when Baszler bit the back of the neck of Lynch

WWE presents the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that will air on the WWE Network.

The Undertaker’s Opponent At WrestleMania 36 Revealed

The Undertaker is slated to be in action at this year’s WWE WrestleMania 36 event as his opponent has been revealed.

Dave Meltzer was able to confirm that The Undertaker vs. AJ Styles is currently on the schedule for the WrestleMania card. The news was first reported by WrestleZone.

Taker missed WrestleMania 35 last year, which broke his streak of wrestling at the biggest event of the year for the company, which is also where he had the winning streak of never losing at the show until it was snapped by Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30 in 2014.

The Undertaker In 2019

In 2019, Taker was in action twice – once by defeating Goldberg at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia in June and then again by teaming with Roman Reigns to defeat Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre at Extreme Rules in July.

Styles had been sidelined with a separated shoulder since last month’s Royal Rumble show but WWE announced earlier this month that Styles was “recovering way ahead of doctor’s projections.”

In fact, the company has already announced that he would compete for the Tuwaiq Trophy gauntlet match at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, February 27.

Rhea Ripley Appears On WWE RAW To Tease WrestleMania 36 Match

A new match has been teased for the upcoming WWE WrestleMania 36 PPV.

During Monday’s episode of RAW, Charlotte Flair came out for the second straight week to reveal who she would be challenging at WrestleMania 36.

Before Flair could make her announcement, NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley interrupted by walking out to the ring. Ripley cut a promo about how Flair has beaten many top stars but never defeated her. In fact, Ripley brought up how she holds a win over Flair.

Instead of Flair accepting the challenge, she walked out of the ring. Thus, WWE is stretching out this match announcement for at least another week. It’s been reported that this is a match that is planned to take place at the biggest event of the year for the company.

Flair won the 30-Woman Royal Rumble Match at the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in Houston, Texas at the Minute Maid Park.

As a result, she can challenge for any title in WWE such as the RAW, SmackDown, and NXT Women’s Championship.

NXT Reportedly Set To Be Involved At WrestleMania 36

Brock Lesnar vs. Drew McIntyre Confirmed For WrestleMania 36

As expected, Brock Lesnar vs. Drew McIntyre has been confirmed for WrestleMania 36.

This comes after McIntyre won the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble Match at the pay-per-view event on Sunday night in Houston, Texas. In fact, with the help of Ricochet, McIntyre eliminated “The Beast” from the contest.

Now, he’ll be facing off with Lesnar for the WWE Title at the biggest event of the year for WWE.

As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in San Antonio, TX at the AT&T Center on the USA Network, McIntyre opened the show where he revealed which title he would be going after at Mania.

This led to him beating Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson in a Handicap Match. After the contest, he was attacked by Lesnar with an F5.

This contest was expected to be confirmed and also marks the first match announced thus far for WrestleMania 36.

Backstage News On Original Planned Winners For Royal Rumble

Update On Planned WrestleMania Matches After Royal Rumble

Royal Rumble 2020 is being praised by the fans as one of the best PPVs the company has put on in recent times and it officially marks the beginning of WrestleMania season.

Dave Meltzer talked about the event on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio and he also revealed some of the matches the company has planned for the Show Of Shows.

The main event of Royal Rumble saw Drew McIntyre winning the men’s Battle Royal to earn the opportunity to challenge the champion of his choice at the Grandest Stage of Them All.

Not very surprisingly, the report states that the Scottish Superstar will be picking the WWE Champion Brock Lesnar as his opponent for WrestleMania.

On the other hand, Roman Reigns will challenge ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt for the Universal title after Wyatt defeated Daniel Bryan in a strap match at the Royal Rumble last night.

The event on Sunday night also saw the return of Edge who entered the Royal Rumble at #21 and lasted till the final 3 before being eliminated by Reigns.

Edge also formed a temporary alliance with his former tag team partner Randy Orton during the bout but he ended up eliminating Orton from the match.

After this, it’s being reported that Edge will be facing the Viper at the upcoming PPV which will likely be his first singles match after his comeback.

Though while these are the current planned bouts for WrestleMania, reports reveal that the original winners for Royal Rumble were different. You can check out the names who were originally supposed to win on Sunday night here.

NXT Reportedly Set To Be Involved At WrestleMania 36

NXT has now been established as a separate third brand of its own, rather than a training ground for new wrestlers. The black and gold brand was present at Survivor Series when it beat both the two main brands – Raw and SmackDown. While the three brands are now back to their own business, it looks like NXT will have another opportunity to be involved with the main roster – that is on WrestleMania 36.

According to the Twitter account WrestleVotes, which has broken multiple stories in the past, NXT is set to be involved in WrestleMania 36 on the main card in April next year.

The TakeOver event before WrestleMania 36 will still take place, as Triple H unveiled the logo and teased the coming of NXT TakeOver: Tampa. You can check out his tweet below:

WWE is also reportedly making plans for the 2020 Royal Rumble matches, and NXT wrestlers will be participating in the battle royale matches for both the men’s and women’s division, according to a report by Wrestling Observer Live.

While there will be no Takeover event accompanying Royal Rumble this year, WWE has announced a Worlds Collide event which will see stars from NXT and NXT UK competing against each other the night before the PPV. As for the Royal Rumble, WWE is considering adding 10 NXT stars into the battle royale matches.

It would be interesting to see how WWE handles the brand from here on, and if we’ll get to see the third brand incorporated more in the major PPV events.

WWE Lists WrestleMania 36 Dream Matches

WrestleMania 35 may still be fresh in the minds of the WWE Universe, but it hasn’t stopped the company from beginning to tease and hint towards next year’s event.

The promotion’s YouTube channel has uploaded an episode of their “List This!” show, hosted by Vic Joseph. In this particular episode, Joseph lists 5 “suggestions” they want to take place on the “Grandest Stage Of Them All” next year in Tampa, Florida.

His list included:

  • Roman Reigns vs The Rock
  • John Cena vs WWE NXT North American Champion, The Velveteen Dream
  • Matt Riddle vs Brock Lesnar
  • Horsewomen vs Horsewomen in an 8-women tag team matchup
  • Finn Balor in a WWE Universal Title match

The majority of these matches, bar the Cena/Dream match, are already seemingly rooted in previous encounters or real-life situations—as with Riddle’s vocal wishes to face Brock Lesnar.

Some, like the Horsewomen vs Horsewomen affair, have been long hinted at, with a feud between the two factions speculated about for numerous months.

WrestleMania 36 takes place on April 5th 2020. It will go down in the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

What do you think of their list? What would you like to see take place in a year’s time at WrestleMania 36?

Latest On Rumored WrestleMania 36 Location

Speculation about the location for WrestleMania 36 is intensifying as it does on the road to WrestleMania every year.

The latest update on the location for next year’s event comes from PWInsider. According to the report, the word that has been making the rounds behind the scenes is that the show will be held in Tampa, Florida at Raymond James Stadium. This is the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

As of this writing, WWE has yet to confirm this location for the biggest event of the year for the company. In previous years, WrestleMania’s location is usually announced a year in advance. Thus, we should get an official announcement in the next month. It should be noted that Tampa has the primary location that has been mentioned of late at WWE events.

If this is the location for WrestleMania in 2020 then it would fourth time in 12 years that the state of Florida hosts Mania.

WrestleMania 24 took place in 2008 at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, which featured the final match for WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair under the WWE banner. WrestleMania 28 took place in 2012 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami that saw the first battle between The Rock and John Cena.

Finally, WrestleMania 33 took place in 2017 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando and featured the return of The Hardy Boyz.
