Roman Reigns Interview: Training For WrestleMania, Most Painful Moment In The Ring

Roman Reigns spoke to our friend Chris Illuminati from BroBible.com this week to hype his match against Brock Lesnar at Sunday’s WrestleMania 31 pay-per-view. Here are some highlights of what Reigns said about:

If He’s “Nervous Excited” or “Excited Excited” For WrestleMania:

“That’s a good way of asking that question. I’m excited excited right now. I think the nervous-excited won’t kick in until we get closer to Sunday.”

What His Average Day Looks Like:

“My average match is 20-25 minutes. That’s probably the easiest part of my day. There’s a full day of training involved before I even hit the ring. I usually do 30-40 minutes of cardio before I even hit the ring. Eating right is tough. I have to be concerned about my meal, and while I’m eating, I have to think about my next meal. Sometimes you see guys lugging around 3-4 meals just in case. My body just expects it.”

His Most Painful Moment In The Ring:

“The most recent was my match against Daniel Bryan at Fastlane. He kicked my scar from my recent hernia surgery. That was painful. I needed to take a step back from training that next day!”

Head on over to BroBible.com for the full interview.

Dean Ambrose On Reigns vs. Lesnar, IC Title Ladder Match & More

Dean Ambrose recently spoke with Mike Jones of DC 101 to promote WrestleMania 31. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

The IC Title Ladder Match At WrestleMania: “When you add in the guys that are in the match, and the stage that it’s on, WrestleMania, and it’s a lot of guys with a lot of chips on their shoulder this year that have worked hard for this moment. We’re all going to do our best to shine and steal the show, and when you get into a ladder match, that’s a lot of tools to work with.”

Bringing Prestige Back To The IC Title: “To me, I think it’s very easy to remedy. If I’m the Intercontinental Champion, or Dolph Ziggler, or Daniel Bryan is the Intercontinental Champion. To me it’s like, any one of those three are the best wrestlers on the planet and can main event any show in the world with the Intercontinental Championship match.”

The Dangers Of Ladder Matches: “The adrenaline in front of 70,000 people is pretty indescribable, you pretty much do anything. I’ve done some of the worst, most abusive things to my body and taken the biggest risks you can possibly imagine for almost no money on very small stages for no other reason than just because.”

If Roman Reigns Can Handle Being In The Main Event Of WrestleMania: “There’s no way to prepare for a situation like that other than experience and the only way you get experience is by experiencing stuff. I think he’ll be fine. That’s a hell of a position to be put in, main event of WrestleMania, considering he’s only been wrestling since 2010 or 11, that’s the first time he stepped in the ring. So if you consider the learning curve that he’s had to deal with it’s amazing that’s he at this point. Only way you find out if you’re ready to do anything is just to do it!”

The Rock To Face Brock Lesnar At WrestleMania 32?, Latest JBL & Renee Show, Larry Zbyszko

– During a taped interview on Raw offering his thoughts on Roman Reigns, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar mentioned beating The Rock as a rookie—at the 2002 SummerSlam to capture the WWE Championship—and sending him to Hollywood. It was stated in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that this line was scripted to push a match between both wrestlers as a possibility for next year’s WrestleMania.

WrestleMania 32 is scheduled to take place on April 3, 2016, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

– After realizing Renee Young is his perfect co-host on The JBL & Renee Show, JBL celebrates by singing with other WWE Superstars on this week’s episode.

– It was announced on Monday that Larry Zbyszko will become enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame the night before WrestleMania 31. To celebrate the induction, five clips of “classic moments” from his career have been added to the WWE Hall of Fame section on the WWE Network.

Mark Henry Talks About Roman Reigns’ Rise To The Top Of WWE

Mark Henry recently spoke with Doug Mortman and Dave Lagreca on Busted Open to promote WrestleMania 31. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

His Favorite WrestleMania Moment:

“My match with Undertaker at WrestleMania 22 changed me. It made me believe that I belonged and boosted my confidence. That match propelled me to where I am today. When Roman Reigns has that moment of belonging that is when he’ll be great. However, you need time to pass for that to happen. It took me 18 years. It takes faster for some people and I believe Roman is ahead of the curve in that regard.”

Roman Reigns’ Push & Fans Not Fully Accepting Him:

“If Roman attacks Brock the way he attacked Daniel Bryan at FastLane, then he can do big things. People always run off at the mouth on what people should do. I believe people should sit back and enjoy and if they don’t like what they’re seeing, tune them out. Fans have to realize that as big of an impact that they have on the industry, they’re not calling the shots. They should just sit back and enjoy the show. When fans go to football games, they’re not the ones calling the plays. There’s a different mentality with the fan base nowadays where the fans are reacting before storylines even have a chance to play out. People are commenting before stuff even happens. There used to be a time where the anticipation grew so much and that anticipation superseded everything else. However, that anticipation has lessened in today’s day and age because of all the information and media surrounding the company. Roman Reigns can definitely be the next top guy in WWE but he has to have a thicker skin and not worry so much about what the critics are saying.”

Potential Spoilers: Update On WrestleMania Plans For The IC Title Ladder Match

Earlier this week, WWE insider ‘MetsFan4Ever’ made a post on Reddit revealing some major developments in WWE’s booking plans for WrestleMania. With Brock Lesnar close to signing a new deal with WWE, Triple H has reportedly been pushing for Brock Lesnar to retain the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, John Cena and Daniel Bryan to win the US & IC titles and for those secondary belts to be elevated to compensate for Lesnar’s limited schedule.

To update the situation, MetsFan4Ever says that another idea being discussed for the IC title ladder match is for Sheamus to return as a surprise entrant in the match, cost Bryan the win and capture the gold himself. This would lead to Sheamus and Bryan feuding over the title in the coming weeks & months.

He clarified that Sheamus winning the IC title and feuding with Bryan is only a rumor at this point and less likely than the original scenario of Bryan and Cena coming out of Mania as champions.

With WrestleMania only 9 days away, WWE will be finalizing booking plans very soon and we’ll see how it all goes down next weekend.

Stardust’s Post-SmackDown Interview, Alex Riley Talks About Wrestling Again

– Alex Roley spoke to WWE.com about getting back in the ring with NXT after two years on the sidelines as a commentator.

When asked if he was at peace with never wrestling again before his recent return, Riley said:

“It was never over in my mind. Although I had people in WWE and in very high-powered, prominent positions telling me I was never going to wrestle again. I heard things like, “if you have anything in common with Alex Riley, you should be worried.” Honestly, hearing those things was more painful than I can put into words. But in my mind, I lived everyday like I was hours away from WrestleMania. That’s how you know you love something. It’s when there is zero chance of you ever getting to see it, touch it, do it again and you go on faith and never stop pursuing it.”

– The latest SmackDown Fallout video features the big post-SmackDown interview with Stardust that he’s been hyping on social media. Stardust spoke to Tom Phillips about the WWE Intercontinental Title Ladder Match at WrestleMania:

Roman Reigns: “When I’m Talkin’, Shut The Hell Up And Let Me Talk”

WrestleMania 31 main event challenger Roman Reigns spoke to Rolling Stone today to discuss last night’s RAW, his character’s evolution, being underestimated and much more. It’s a lengthy interview and we highly recommend you check it out.

Since winning the Royal Rumble, Reigns has had to battle throw intense negative backlash and is still getting mixed reactions with less than two weeks until WWE’s biggest show of the year. During his promo last night on RAW, Reigns improvised when the crowd began chanting for the man he defeated at Fastlane to solidify his title shot, Daniel Bryan. Reigns doubled down on his position from after the Rumble, stating that if fans want to cheer for Daniel Bryan, he’s “all for that.” But Reigns sounds like he’s getting fed up with fans not buying in to his promos:

“That’s just an instinct thing. That’s not something you learn in a warehouse or people can tell you. If you’re a Daniel Bryan fan, I’m all for that. The more people Daniel Bryan will bring into arenas, the better. The more people I bring in, the better. But when I’mherzog talkin’, shut the hell up and let me talk.”

When asked if winning the WWE World Heavyweight championship is his ultimate goal at WrestleMania, Reigns told Rolling Stone’s Kenny Herzog:

I just want to go out there and do my thing, and a lot of that is winning the WWE Championship. I can’t stress enough how that title is everything for us. But for me, I would like to wake up and know, “Yeah, that was a five-star, you-can’t-touch-that match.” I’d like to be able to walk to the back thinking, “Can’t one of y’all do that.”

He added that he’s enjoying ‘learning on the fly’ and is “absolutely” saving his best for Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania.

Hulk Hogan Talks About His Favorite WrestleMania Memories, Relationship With Randy Savage

WWE Hall Of Famer Hulk Hogan spoke about his fondest WrestleMania memories and his relationship with “Macho Man” Randy Savage in the new WWE “Legends of WrestleMania” magazine. Below are some highlights.

On his favorite memories of WrestleMania: “You know, you can’t take anything away from that Andre match, brother. That’s a WrestleMania moment—93,000 people and Andre passing the torch to me. That match with The Rock, where I had been working for a different company, actually competing against this company, and came back here. The crowd showed their loyalty, that was huge. But if I really, really had to go with consistency, friendship and always being there for me, Randy [Savage] is the favorite guy.”

On his relationship with “Macho Man” Randy Savage: “Well, first off, when you work with Randy, it’s intense. The only other person that I could call at three or four o’clock in the morning to talk about wrestling and would even answer their phone is Vince McMahon. And that’s how Randy was. Except Randy called me! ‘Hey brother. Got an idea.’ So when you got in bed with Randy, you were in it for the long haul. Good or bad, brother. He’s going to drag you through the mud, whether you like it or not. And it was intense, because Randy was such a passionate person.”

Shawn Michaels On His Last Match At WrestleMania, Being Proud Of Daniel Bryan & More

WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels recently spoke with The Phoenix Suns website to promote his new autobiography, “Wrestling For My Life.” Below are highlights from the interview.

On how he felt after his last match at WrestleMania 26: “Going in, it was a good feeling because my family was there. But there was a little anxiety, because it’s still WrestleMania and it was the last one. You know people expected it to be really good. Because it was the Undertaker again, there were going to be a lot of comparisons to the last one (2009). So for all the upside you get out of just enjoying the moment that is WrestleMania, there was a little anxiety and a little stress wanting to just deliver a really good match.

But afterwards, it was just complete joy and then also, I think a lot of mental and physical and even spiritual exhaustion. “It’s over.” And again, that’s when it settled in. That’s when it got real. And it was almost as if everything under God’s green earth had been lifted off my shoulders and it was a nice feeling. It was a bit surreal, but I would have to say it was really the next day when everything settled in. Honestly, getting to make that speech on RAW, I felt like the luckiest guy in the world honestly. I couldn’t think of a better way for it to go, for it to end, and to have the opportunity and the time to express all of that on RAW was wonderful. That’s when it’s all allowed to be real and you’re allowed to talk about the wrestling business and your life in the WWE, in a very real sense. And it was a joy to be able to do that well.”

On NBA players who would succeed in WWE: “Well, you know what… every once in a blue moon, I think about Kevin Garnett maybe. But I honestly don’t know. I think those guys who did it, they found out really quick… if you ask any one of them, they’ll tell you, “My goodness, I don’t know how those guys do that on a regular basis.” I think that’s the thing that every athlete who tries to do what we do, very quickly comes to have a great deal of respect for us. They see what they’re putting their bodies through on that one night and then they sort of grasp that we do that 250-300 times a year and don’t have an offseason, and that’s when they say, ‘Not for me.'”

On how proud he is of Daniel Bryan: “Oh, very! Very! But at the same time, not surprised. He was a talented young man, he was always a hard worker and that’s a combination that is hard to deny. The only thing you have to have is patience and an attitude that you aren’t ever going to give up. He had that as well. As proud as I am of him, I’m not surprised by it and I don’t think other people should be. That’s one of the things that I think is funny, people have a hard time grasping; people like him and people like me didn’t get into the wrestling business just to do it, just to be average. We got into it to excel and to be really good at it, and hopefully make an impact that lasts a long time, and he’s no different.”

On not returning to the ring: “Well, I appreciate it. Everybody always asks me, “Gosh, do you have one more in you?” and I tell them, “No, I’ve got about 15 more in me.” But I always felt like that was the point. I mean, I just think it’s a bad idea if you shoot your last bullet and you’ve got none left. That just makes you vulnerable for Heaven’s sake. The whole point of leaving on top is to leave on top.”

On what he wants to be known as today after being Mr. WrestleMania, The Showstopper and The Heartbreak Kid: “You know what? As far as out there in the world, it doesn’t really matter to me. I want my wife to see me as a loving, Godly husband, and I want my kids to see me as a loving, Godly father. That’s about the extent of it. And I don’t mean that disrespectfully towards fans, but those three are the only people I’m really concerned about right now. I think over time, people’s reputations, the history, all of that kind of stuff changes. It all depends on who’s writing it, who’s spinning it. So I don’t put a lot of stock in all of that stuff. I just want to be a good dad and a good husband, and whatever else is out there about me professionally, I’ll leave that to the rest of the world to determine.”

Dolph Ziggler Interview: IC Championship, Daniel Bryan & More

Dolph Ziggler recently spoke with Ring Rust Radio about the Intercontinental Title Match at WrestleMania 31, Daniel Bryan and more. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Restoring Prestige to the Intercontinental Championship:

“Well to restore prestige, you’d have to do something similar to what I did a couple of months ago. I finally beat Miz for the title, and then constantly, The Authority wanted to take it off me. So it became that much more exciting because every Monday, every Thursday, every weekend, every pay-per-view I was defending that title. They were trying to stick it to me, and you didn’t know if I was going to win it or if I was going to lose it because the odds were stacked against me. Or you thought that whether they are trying to take it off him or not, it’s constantly being defended, and I think that was the right track in starting it to get seen as the workhorse title that gets put on the line all the time.

Brock Lesnar is not always around, this could be the up-and-coming title, and for a couple of months I defended that thing 20 times and that’s the absolute way to get that title more prestigious. It’s obviously on the back burner right now; there’s other stories going on, it’s not the top story right now, and I’m not going to pretend it is. My goal is when I’m given an inch I try to take a mile. So when I had that title, I was always wanting to defend it, tell Triple H to call whoever he wants, have him at ringside, because the more I defended it, it slowly began to gain prestige as a title that wasn’t just a workhorse title, but a title that was going to be defended sometimes, and that’s what needs to happen.”

The IC Title Ladder Match at WrestleMania:

“Here’s the deal, ladder matches are crazy; the Intercontinental title is starting to barely mean something again, not just to me, but the fans. I’ll say what I always say going into WrestleMania: You’re going to see Sting, you’re going to see Brock Lesnar, you’re going to see John Cena, so my goal and the chip on my shoulder’s goal is to have you talking about my match the next day. I promise you, there are so many hungry guys in there who want to prove to everyone just how damn good they really are. It’s going to be hard for me to keep up, but trust me I will.

Campaigning On Twitter For A WrestleMania Match With Daniel Bryan:

“I randomly suggested it. I was pissed at my Royal Rumble match, I was pissed. I felt bad about Daniel Bryan with the entire world behind him and getting shot out after a couple of minutes. So I thought I have this chip on my shoulder, he’s got a chip on his shoulder, why the hell don’t we show people who the real main event match should be? If you want to pretend that there is no story, what are you kidding me? This guy went from nothing to being the biggest chanted name in this business; he changed history in the main event of WrestleMania that he was not supposed to be in.

I, on the other hand, on a slightly smaller scale, was told that I would never be champion. I would never be Money in the Bank winner, I would never have the chance to be on top here, and damn it I earned it. I said, You know what? Daniel without these people behind you, I don’t know what type of situation you would be in right now, maybe mine, but if you want to prove who is better, this isn’t about who can steal the show—this is about who the real main event is in this business should be.

I sure as hell wasn’t going out there to shake his hand and shake his hand after. I was out there to kick his ass and prove that I’m the best. It’s unfortunate it didn’t happen because there was a little buzz all based on me suggesting to him let’s show the WWE Universe what a main event should be, and I dare someone to try to follow that. It didn’t happen, but I don’t quit. I come up with my own stuff on my own time before, that almost turned into something, so that means maybe next time it will turn into something.”

– SummerSlam travel packages for Brooklyn, NY are now available at WWE.com.

WWE RAW the night after SummerSlam (Monday, August 24th) will also take place from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

– Dolph Ziggler has been added to “WWE Night” at the Phoenix Suns NBA game tonight. He’ll be joined by Daniel Bryan, The Bella Twins and Lilian Garcia.

– NXT star Finn Balor recently spoke to the Miami Herald. In response to his critics, Balor said, “If you believe the good, you’ll believe the bad.

– WWE has released a new video hyping WrestleMania 31:

Update On The Undertaker & Sheamus’ WWE Returns

– On Monday’s RAW, The Undertaker accepted Bray Wyatt’s challenge to a match at WrestleMania with a recorded audio message (and a lightning bolt that set Bray Wyatt’s rocking char on fire). There have been conflicting reports regarding when the Dead Man will be back on television. As of this week, the plan is still for the Undertaker to be kept off television until he makes his grand entrance at WrestleMania. As we reported earlier this week, he might be using a new entrance theme at the show.

– Another returning Superstar we won’t see until WrestleMania is Sheamus. In recent weeks we’ve seen vignettes hyping his return and he’s rumored to be working either the Intercontinental Title Ladder Match or the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Spoilers – Daniel Bryan’s WrestleMania Match, Former World Heavyweight Champion Returns

At Tuesday night’s SmackDown tapings, Daniel Bryan opened the show and announced he is entering himself in the Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match at WrestleMania. That brings the total number of participants to 7. With all the Sheamus promos that have been airing in recent weeks, he could also be added to the match.

Mark Henry also made a surprise return at the tapings and interrupted an in ring promo with Roman Reigns. Henry told Reigns that he still needs to earn the respect of fans and the wrestlers backstage, leading Reigns to lay him out with a spear and a Superman punch. It appeared they were setting up a match between the two of them on RAW.

Henry has been off television since the November 24th episode of RAW, when he lost to Ryback. He’s lost a lot of weight since his last WWE TV appearance and has been rumored for the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania.

Spoilers – WWE SmackDown Results (3/12)

Stardust Added To IC Title Ladder Match At WrestleMania

WWE has announced that Stardust has officially been added to the Intercontinental Championship Ladder match at WrestleMania 31. In addition to Stardust, IC Champion Bad News Barrett will also have to contend with Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler, Luke Harper and R-Truth.

WWE is no longer teasing whether more superstars will be added to the match, so it appears the lineup is set with 6 competitors, apparently leaving Daniel Bryan out of the mix. Bryan will most likely be facing Sheamus, a match WWE had planned for last year’s show before the Yes! movement catapulted him into the WWE Championship picture.

WWE’s article announcing Stardust’s inclusion acknowledges Bad News Barrett’s ridiculous 1-9 record in non-title matches:

“The controversy around the title has also seemingly contributed to [Barrett’s] recent lackluster record in non-title competition against his WrestleMania challengers.”

To quote the one and only Solomonster,

What Happened After RAW, Lilian Reacts To Botch On RAW

– After WWE RAW went off the air, trainers checked on Seth Rollins after Randy Orton put him through the announcers table. They put a neck brace on Rollins and loaded him on to a stretcher as Orton walked to the back. Rollins was then stretchered out of the arena.

Backstage, John Cena spoke to Byron Saxton. Cena said Stephanie McMahon made a valid point that performing at WrestleMania is a privilege. He said it will be satisfying to hand Rusev his first defeat at WrestleMania and bring the United States championship back to the United States.

– Last night on RAW, Lilian Garcia botched the announcement of Big Show’s entrance, stating that he’s 4 feet tall. A fan asked about it on Twitter and she joked:

John Cena vs. Rusev Added To WrestleMania

John Cena will challenge Rusev for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 31 on Sunday, March 29th. The match was made after John Cena applied to the STF to Rusev twice, with Lana pleading with Cena to release the hold and offering the match in exchange for mercy on Rusev.

With that match set, here’s the updated card for WWE WrestleMania 31:

– WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns

– Triple H vs Sting

– The Undertaker vs. Bray Wyatt

– John Cena vs. Rusev

– IC Title Ladder Match: Bad News Barrett vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Luke Harper vs. R-Truth, more TBA

– The Bella Twins vs. AJ Lee and Paige

– Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Divas Tag Match Announced For WWE WrestleMania

WWE has announced that Divas Champion Nikki Bella and her sister Brie will square off against Paige and AJ Lee at WrestleMania 31.

The announcement comes just a week after AJ Lee returned to WWE television and aligned herself with her former rival against the Bellas.

WWE’s official announcement reads:

“As the #GiveDivasAChance movement continues picking up steam, will AJ & Paige be successful in their effort to supplant the dangerous and sly Bella Twins, or will Nikki & Brie just further demonstrate why they are WWE’s most dominant Divas? Perhaps more importantly: Will the WWE Universe witness a paradigm shift in the Divas division at The Showcase of the Immortals?”

Update On WWE Licensing Ring Of Honor Footage For New Daniel Bryan DVD/Blu-ray

WWE recently licensed some footage of Daniel Bryan in Ring Of Honor for a future DVD release, specifically the upcoming “Daniel Bryan: Just Say Yes! Yes! Yes!” DVD and Blu-ray that is scheduled to come out on June 15th.

The footage that is being used is said to be the same clips we’ve seen on past WWE Network specials, not a full ROH match on the DVD. However, there is one dark match from 2000 that is scheduled to be included, which appears to be a WWE tryout match that Bryan worked.

Below is the new synopsis for the Daniel Bryan DVD/Blu-ray:

“Relive Daniel Bryan’s historic Journey to WrestleMania as he prepares for the biggest night of his career. Now with an extended cut, follow the leader of the Yes Movement into New Orleans for the biggest show of the year, WrestleMania 30. Witness the rise of one of the most popular WWE Superstars of all time from his humble beginnings into WWE Champion. Also includes an all-new interview with Daniel Bryan discussing some of the most important matches of his career as well as some exclusive matches in their entirety.”

2 More Participants Added To WrestleMania IC Title Ladder Match

WWE has announced that Dean Ambrose and Luke Harper have been added to the Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania. They join Bad News Barrett and R-Truth as the first 4 confirmed participants.

WWE.com is teasing, “The ultimate number of participants and identity of all the challengers will be revealed in coming weeks, but three contenders have already been named.”

Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler and Stardust are also expected to be added soon.
