As previously reported, former WWE Superstar Batista will officially return to WWE on the January 20th edition of WWE RAW and will be hanging around at least through WrestleMania XXX.
Apparently the idea is that this is not a one-time WrestleMania return type deal for Batista, but rather a “final run” for him that could last as long as two years. His new deal reportedly calls for him to take some time off during the summer to promote a film project.
Regarding the specifics of his return, while his first televised appearance back with the company will be on the 1/20 episode of RAW, he will not be wrestling that night. His first official match is scheduled to take place in the 30-man match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

– Should the legendary Hulk Hogan be unable to compete alongside John Cena at WrestleMania XXX on April 6, 2014 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, one scenario being discussed for the WrestleMania 30 main event would be John Cena facing Bray Wyatt.
WWE chief Vince McMahon recently stated to the writers and producers that “Cena is the main event until his time is clearly up. That man feeds us!”
– It was announced at tonight’s WWE live event at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois that Raw will be held at the venue on Monday, March 3, 2014. A Ticketmaster.com pre-sale is underway now through January 2, 2014 with WWERAW as the password.
– The latest issue of WWE Magazine (cover-dated January 2014) features the 2013 WWE Magazine Awards and Goldust was honored with the “You Still Got It” Award for his extraordinary comeback at the age of 44.
“I’ve been busting my butt in the gym and staying focused, because that’s what it’s about,” he remarked. “I know that I can still go with the youngest and best Superstars on the roster right now. The Royal Rumble was very special. And nothing touched it until my brother and I became Tag Team Champions. I’ve been wrestling for 25 years and that might be the biggest moment of my career.”

– WWE’s long-running Authority storyline is currently scheduled to climax at WrestleMania XXX on April 6, 2014 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, with Triple H facing CM Punk in a singles match. However, there is also the possibility of Roman Reigns facing “The Game” at the pay-per-view event spectacular, as the 28-year-old is currently slated as a “back-up plan.” In recent weeks, WWE has teased a Reigns babyface turn.
– Though most of WWE’s business metrics have either gone down or remained almost identical in recent years, traffic to the official WWE website has greatly increased. Through November, WWE.com has averaged 15.1 million viewers per month. This is up 31.3% from the year before, which averaged 11.5 million visitors on a monthly basis.
Despite the great increase in web traffic, this has not accordingly translated to sales increases on WWEShop.com. Merchandise sales are only up 3.5%, from 903 in 2013 to 935 this year.
– Antonio Thomas, who appeared for WWE in 2005 and 2006, discusses his tenure with the company and career on the independent wrestling circuit in the latest edition of Colt Cabana’s Art Of Wrestling podcast. The podcast also features a happy holidays message from CM Punk. The synopsis for the show is as follows: “One half of WWEs Heartbreakers. With just a short run on TV, its interesting to see how a wrestler recovers and continues in the wrestling industry. Antonio is still a force on the independent scene. Plus Colt, Cliff and Punk wish everyone happy holidays.”

Here are some quick thoughts about this weeks edition of Christmas Raw. Did you watch it?
![The WWE Diva's are awesome to look at. Not so awesome to watch wrestle.]()
The WWE Diva’s are awesome to look at. Not so awesome to watch wrestle.
12-diva’s Jingle Bells Match: The tag team division has been completely turned around. At one point it seemed like there was barely a tag team division. AJ Lee is the best women’s wrestler on the roster, why aren’t we seeing her in great matches. I guess I know why, because of Total Diva’s. That doesn’t mean there can’t be great woman’s wrestling. NO!
![John Cena, CM Punk, and Big E. Langston victorious to end Christmas Raw]()
John Cena, CM Punk, and Big E. Langston victorious to end Christmas Raw
CM Punk John Cena & Big E Langston vs The Shield I enjoyed the match, Cena, Punk and Big E all out there. The end seemed silly though. Why would there suddenly be a disqualification, because the two illegal Shield members saved themselves from being pinned by Big E? It doesn’t make sense, but still the match was better than the Good Santa vs Bad Santa, which I thought for sure would close the show. Therefore it gets a YES!
The USOS vs The Prime Time Players: The match was fun to watch. Good tag team action YES!|
![The USO's and The Prime Time Players all celebrate after the match. Barf]()
The USO’s and The Prime Time Players all celebrate after the match. Barf
The USOS & Prime Time Players Curtain Call Before the match Darren Young mistakenly refer to Austin Texas as Houston, to get some sort of heel heat, I didn’t have a problem with this. I did have a problem with after the match, The USO’s and The Prime Time Players all doing the Millions of Dollars dance. Here’s why I have an issue with it. This is starting to become a thing, with Superstars hugging after the match, we saw it a few weeks ago with the Michael Strahan, Miz, Titus O’neil segment. We saw it with Big Show, Rey Mysterio and The Rhodes. Forget about ruthless aggression, these guys are all becoming wimps! It’s OKAY for two fan favorites to dislike each other, and not hug at the end. I’m not saying they need to attack each other after the match… but I’m hoping it’s just a lighthearted Christmas episode thing, and not a growing trend. Although with the recent article of WWE shopping their television shows to TV Network’s including Disney. We might see everyone hug at the end of matches in the future. NO!
!["Bad Santa' full of Christmas Cupcakes]()
“Bad Santa’ full of Christmas Cupcakes
Good Santa Vs Bad Santa: It is what it is I guess. Mark Henry playing the good Santa, Damien Sandow playing the bad Santa with produced backstage segments contrasting the two. The announcers played it up as you would have expected. The whole concept is silly. Bah Humbug! NO!
Live Announcing: I would say it was a good thing that Michael Cole and JBL announced the show live from Stanford CT. (They had pre-recorded cut-in’s from the arena, but voiced most of Raw Live) it gave it a fresh feel, JBL made some topical references as he eluded to on twitter. The Batista announcement which clearly wasn’t scheduled for the show originally was added in, and the live commentary allowed for reaction from JB and Cole. Did you miss Jerry “The King” Lawler? I did not. YES!
!["Santa Claus is an Illegal Immigrant" - Zeb Colter]()
“Santa Claus is an Illegal Immigrant” – Zeb Colter
The Real Americans vs Los Matadores: Another good tag team match on Raw. We saw the Antonio Cesaro swing, which if you haven’t’ seen live is an awesome thing to watch. With all the tag teams in the WWE, I think the WrestleMania pre-show match should involve all the tag-teams that one make it to the PPV. Perhaps the winner can face the champions. YES!
RAW OVERALL: NO! Call me scrooge if you will, but the over cheesy holiday wrestling show, should go on Smackdown! I think Raw looses it’s coolness by being lame. If Disney pony’s up the cash this could be what you see on RAW every week so get used to it! There was some good action on the show which I enjoyed, no real progression of WWE story lines but the big announcement of The Animal Batista, which was awesome to see.

In WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross’ latest column, he offers his thoughts on the possibility of broadcasting again for WWE, fan speculation over Sting facing The Undertaker at WrestleMania, and Jeff Hardy.
Whether he would consider broadcasting for WWE again: “Yes I’d consider broadcasting again and feel motivated to do so but it takes two to Tango and most companies aren’t looking to hire 61 year old guys with Bells palsy. I never let my facial paralysis define me but unfortunately some companies do along with the stigma that being a long time ‘pro wrestling guy’ has to some narrow minded, uncreative decision makers.”
Will he boycott WrestleMania?: “I’m sorry if I offend some who think that I’m boycotting WM30 because of my own, admitted, lofty ego, but any talent being a part of any event is largely up to the promotion. If a promotion extends an offer and the talent roadblocks it, then that’s another story. I’m not boycotting any offer to broadcast anything if it’s a win-win arrangement. At this stage of the game, it has to be fun and something where I can be myself behind the mic.”
Fan speculation of Sting facing The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30: “I get daily questions on whether a Sting vs. Undertaker match at WrestleMania is ever going to happen. I have no answer to that query but I can say that it’s seemingly fish or cut bait time as the window off opportunity is rapidly closing on an attraction that fans have been clamoring for years.”
Jeff Hardy: “Yep…I’m a wrestling fan and I enjoy sampling TNA occasionally. Really liked seeing Jeff Hardy last week. Jeff is still a top hand in anyone’s company.”
Much more is featured in his post, including thoughts on “Stone Cold” Steve Austin wrestling again, working alongside Paul Heyman, who he wants to see inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014, and Ring of Honor. To read his full post, click here.

The deal for Batista to return during WrestleMania XXX season is something he and Triple H have been working on for a few months. Batista is scheduled to work some television tapings, pay-per-views and even some of WWE’s non-televised live events. The deal calls for Batista to stick around for at least some time after WrestleMania XXX in April.
Before announcing his return on RAW on Monday night, the original plan called for Batista to return as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble. WWE had copy of the promotional materials that were scheduled to be sent to local arenas and apparently those were sent out prematurely without notice that Batista’s inclusion in them was to be held off until he officially debuted at the Rumble.
Apparently as a result of the information leaking early on official arena websites, among other places, WWE was quite upset. One source joked that it was a good thing Vnice McMahon was overseas visiting the U.S. Troops when the news leaked, or he may have killed someone.
One person who recently saw Batista this past weekend noted that he has put on a lot of size and muscle and appears to be more ripped than usual.

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross has once again updated the Q&A section of his website. The following are some new highlights:
On calling the legendary Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat matches: “It was a honor to call them back when play by play was in fashion. Working w/ Bob Caudle was a privilege. Flair & Steamboat were….legendary. I was at right place at right time.”
On if he feels Tito Santana is underrated: “Tito was a great in ring talent. I don’t know who has underrated him. He was a star.”
On whether or not Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania was the match of the year: “Thanks for your take. I have no dog in this hunt. There weren’t an overabundance of great matches in WWE in 2013 IMO ”
On Jeff Jarrett leaving TNA: “I’m not connected to TNA or Jarrett or to what their relationship together was or has been lately. I don’t know what his departure means to TNA. TNA has many fixable issues. I wish Jeff and his family well.”
On the overrun during WWE RAW on Monday’s: “Enhances the TV ratings minute by minute numbers.”
On a dream match at WrestleMania between Shawn Michaels and Sting: “At the right place at the right time it would have been terrific. A main event. The ship’s sailed on that one or so I think.”
On the possibility of the War Games concept being used by WWE: “Highly unlikely. I don’t see it happening. It wasn’t a WWE creation and the blood is a no-no.”
On Drew McIntyre’s future in WWE: “It’s all about the creative and the production and execution of such. Any one can be made to be relevant in the fictional world of pro wrestling.”
On the importance of Steve Austin during the Attitude Era: “In the Attitude Era, it was Stone Cold who was the straw that stirred the drink. But he was surrounded by some great talents as well.”
On the possibility of Brock Lesnar vs. Batista in 2014: “If both are around with enough TV availabilities I’d say it’s possible. It would be a nice attraction.”
On if the Hardy Boys would ever return to WWE: “I’d say never say never but I’d also guess it would likely be a long shot. Sometimes long shots come through.”

Former WWE official Wes Adams has posted a new blog talking about WWE WrestleMania being inconsistent over the last few years, providing his opinion on each WrestleMania event since WrestleMania XXIV. Here is an excerpt:
“I’m surprised they haven’t changed the name of WrestleMania to EntertainaMania. Whoops, maybe I shouldn’t have typed that because now someone up there will read it and will use it. But WrestleMania is and rightfully should be where the best WRESTLING of the year takes place. So whatever glimpses of awesome wrestling moments we’re going to get, should happen there. It’s only my opinion but the last few years of WrestleMania have been so inconsistent that it makes my head hurt! One year it’s great, the next year it sucks.”
“To me, it feels like it started with WrestleMania XXIV. The Ric Flair “Career Threatening Match” Angle that ended with him losing to Shawn Michaels to me was the best angle they had produced in years. The Big Show return and feud with Floyd Mayweather produced some mainstream publicity, some good television, and a decent match. Edge and Undertaker were awarded the main event slot after carrying the SmackDown brand (my team haha) to some exciting and awesome television moments for WWE in 2007-2008, a solid undercard that featured Finlay vs. JBL, Umaga vs. Batista Brand Supremacy match, Money in the Bank won by CM Punk, and Cena/HHH/Orton Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship (eh.) But overall, it was a solid WrestleMania.”

The following are highlights from yet another Q&A update from the official website of WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:
On the possibility of John Cena vs. CM Punk at WrestleMania: “I’d like to think that some day that match will occur at WrestleMania. Time will tell. Don’t see it this year though for some reason.”
On if he’d be willing to call one final match for WWE at WrestleMania XXX: “That isn’t a decision that is up to me. That’s 100% a WWE call.”
On opponents he’d like to of seen “Stone Cold” Steve Austin wrestle had his career not been cut short due to injury: “Punk, Bryan, HHH, Orton, etc. Lots of likely candidates.”
On why we don’t see Booker T in the ring anymore: “I don’t know but it’s likely a mutual decision or Book may have injury issues to address.”
On if CM Punk should be a babyface, heel or a ‘tweener’: “I’m not a big ‘tweener’ guy.”
On whether or not Paul Heyman’s recent tweet about Randy Orton is a tease for an Orton vs. Brock Lesnar match at WrestleMania XXX: “Heyman knows how to play the fanbase. Obviously, Lesnar will be back soon as WM30 approaches but in what role, I don’t know.”

JR noted, “I don’t think HBK is returning to the ring as a wrestler. If he did it would be at WrestleMania and I’d like to see him wrestle Daniel Bryan or CM Punk. Taker wouldn’t be offended whatsoever.”

According to reports, WWE is planning on putting the WWE Tag-Team Championships on Luke Harper and Erick Rowan at some point before the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in January.
Harper and Rowan were already expected to become the WWE Tag-Team Champions before the WrestleMania XXX event in April, however it appears now as though WWE has moved those plans up and will do the title change earlier than originally planned.

As previously reported, WWE is continuing to negotiate with Hulk Hogan for a return to the company for some involvement at WrestleMania XXX. In addition to Hogan, WWE is also thinking about bringing some other high-profile names from the past back into the fold for the biggest annual event.
WWE is apparently interested in bringing Batista back into the company for a role at WrestleMania, as there is talk right now of working him into the show should he want to make a comeback.
As far as Rob Van Dam is concerned, there are currently no plans involving him at WrestleMania, however that could change if Van Dam himself is interested in returning from hiatus to come back into the fold.

The latest in negotiations between Hulk Hogan and WWE is that while no official deal has been signed, both sides are still talking, and as far as WWE is concerned, they believe he will return to the company and have some kind of involvement at their WrestleMania XXX event in April.
As far as wrestling an actual match, WWE does not feel that Hogan will be able to, as the feeling is he will be unable to pass the required medical tests needed in order for him to be cleared to compete. This would rule out Hogan vs. John Cena, or even the rumored Hogan and Cena tag-team match.
As of right now, the feeling is Hogan will end up doing a run-in on a heel during the event and cut a promo of some kind.

On if he would consider the WrestleMania 25 match between Undertaker and Shawn Michaels as both of their best matches: “How does one quantify ‘best ever?’ I can’t. However, that match was spectacular.”
On if he feels there is anything that could be done to make NWA a viable brand again: “LOTS of cash….national TV outlet…new stars. So…not too likely.”
On the WWE Hall Of Fame voting process: “If it is an actual voting system, who are the people who get a vote? Used to be an informal committee making suggestions.”
On how weird it would be to see WWE RAW on TNT since WWE is pursuing a new TV deal: “Any thing can happen when rights fees are being negotiated for proven TV content.”

John Cena’s recent comments in the TMZ interview where he implied that Hulk Hogan was too old to be wrestling actual matches anymore is said to be a statement of significance and not an off-the-cuff remark.
The feeling is Cena wouldn’t publicly insult Hogan with comments like that unless it’s to tease something for business.
According to those close to Hogan, the feeling is that due to his current physical condition, he absolutely should not try to wrestle a match.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what he said about:
The Closing Segment Of Monday’s RAW: “Great closing segment that exposed what the fans in Seattle and elsewhere seemingly want to see plus it was a magnificent way to utilize all the former champs that were brought in for Slammy business. That’s strategic booking. Utilizing all of one’s assets at one’s disposal and not over exposing one’s perceived weaknesses. That’s still booking 101.”
“The final segment added some fuel to the fire for Sunday’s Unification match, the second in 12 years w/ Chris Jericho prevailing then, and hopefully the last. It also exposed some matchups that fans gravitated to immediately. HHH vs. Punk is money. Daniel Bryan vs. HBK is money even though I DON’T think that it will ever happen and it also put John Cena who stole the segment verbally and then built to a potentially unique situation at TLC as not only Orton’s mortal enemy but also an unlikely ally to the Authority. Or not.”
WWE Needing To Listen To Daniel Bryan fans: “WWE got some great market research Monday night from the live audience, who I realize had an emotional and biased investment in the local hero, Daniel Bryan, and through the voting by the fans on the Slammy Awards. Smart businesses should never do market research unless they are going to use it.”
Zack Ryder: “Somewhat annoyed that a question that I answered on Ask JR here on the site was positioned to have me painting Zack Ryder with a negative brush. I am a fan of Ryder’s and enjoy his serious work and his work ethic in general. He’s a great kid who loves being in WWE. I think that if Ryder was taken more seriously that he could contribute more to WWE. This has every thing to do with how Ryder is cast and then how the new casting is executed.”
Legends At WrestleMania 30: “Still seems as if WWE would be well served to have some alums in various roles to appear at WM30 and Brock Lesnar fits that description but more is needed IMO. I still think that Hulk Hogan makes an appearance just as I suggested many weeks ago. Goldberg in a match, if it made sense, would be fun.”
“The key to any marketable, former WWE star contributing at WM30 is the build on weekly RAW TV. These individuals need to have at least reoccurring roles to properly build the anticipation for the April event. I’m not endorsing over exposure but I need a taste of what I’m ordering for dinner with the healthy price that comes for the entree.”
