The Worst-Rated WWE Video Game Characters You Could Never Win As

With WWE 2K24 around the corner, excitement for the new game is at a fever pitch, with top stars like Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins all confirmed.

While these three will have some of the highest ratings in the game, not everyone can have great stats, and there’ll always be somebody with the outright worst ranking in the game. In this feature, we look at some of the worst-ranked playable characters in WWE video games.

Eric Bischoff – 52 – SmackDown: Here Comes The Pain

Perhaps it was a battle for brand supremacy that led to then-Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff having the lowest ranking in SmackDown: Here Comes The Pain. Bischoff’s martial arts prowess and all-black gi helped little whenever you played as him in the game.

Ribbie – 60 – WWE 2K20

WWE 2K20 was a disaster of a game but it did give fans their first-ever playable anthropomorphic rack of ribs. Ribbie is the mascot of the Memphis Sliders, a minor baseball team, according to Byron Saxton, and with his BBQ sauce haircut, we imagine wrestlers weren’t eager to face him.

Curt Hawkins – 64 – WWE 2K19

The master of the losing streak, Curt Hawkins’ unfortunate record was replicated with his woeful score in WWE 2K19. Nowadays, Hawkins is faring much better in TNA Wrestling as Brian Myers.

Jimmy Hart – 67 – SmackDown Vs. Raw 2008

It makes sense that the Mouth of the South’s rating would be so low, given he very rarely wrestled. This ranking shows that in SVR ’08, Jimmy was best being kept at ringside.

Bo Dallas – 67- WWE 2K17

All the Bo-lieving in the world couldn’t save Bo Dallas from this dreadful score in WWE 2K17. Good luck winning any titles as the third-generation wrestler! His brother Bray would be well ahead of Bo in the game with a score of 87.

Sawyer Fulton – 69 – WWE 2K18

The forgotten member of Sanity, Sawyer Fulton’s 69 is the worst in the entire WWE 2K18 game. What makes this worse is that this would mark Fulton’s first and only time in a video game.

Eric Bischoff (again) – 69 – WWE 2K22

Things clearly picked up for Easy-E between Here Comes The Pain and WWE 2K22, but that wasn’t enough to save him from having the worst rating once again. Sorry Eric!

Michael Cole & Jim Ross – 71 – WWE ’12

These WWE commentators shared the same woeful rating in WWE ’12, so it’s only fair we lump them together. Frankly though, why anyone would play as either man, especially Cole, is anyone’s guess.

WWE 2K19 and WWE 2K20 Servers to be Shut Down

The servers for WWE 2K19 and WWE 2K20 are to be shut down next month.

In a statement on the official WWE Games Twitter account, it was noted that the servers will be taken offline on June 30 with all online functions being terminated.

This includes online matches and Community Creations, where fans are able to upload their own custom Superstars, titles, and arenas for others to use.

The decision to take these servers offline was so that those involved can turn their “full focus toward supporting WWE 2K22.”

The long road to WWE 2K22

After the dismal launch of WWE 2K20 in late 2019, WWE and 2K Games took a year longer with their next installment, effectively canceling the WWE 2K21 game.

WWE 2K22 was meant to launch in late 2021 but was delayed by the developers who had to update the game to reflect WWE’s roster cuts.

It was reported that the relationship between WWE and 2K had grown strained with WWE 2K22 being seen as a ‘make or break’ game for both parties.

It was reported in March that WWE had been speaking to EA Games about a possible new partner if WWE 2K22 was poorly received.

WWE 2K22 has been met with positive reviews from both fans and critics and earned a 7/10 by SEScoops‘ own Tyriece Simon.

Former Video Game Writer Speaks Out Regarding WWE 2K20 Problems

A writer who worked on the Smackdown vs RAW games from 2009-2011 has been releasing a series of videos on YouTube regarding the WWE 2K franchise. Justin Leeper says that many developers have already left the game and the budget for next year’s version will likely be slashed.

“I don’t want it to seem like I’m attacking the design crew, or the developers of WWE 2K20, nobody gets out of this with their hands clean but those guys were working hard, they were given a difficult task, they could not accomplish the task and then the people above them said ‘Well, we’re going to ship it anyway.'”

Leeper mentioned he’s heard many developers have quit because they don’t want to be associated with the game anymore.

“I’ve actually heard about double-digit people on the team who have quit and they haven’t left for other stuff, they just quit,” Leeper says in the video.

“I made Road to WrestleMania 2009, 2010, 2011, they were pretty good games, pretty good modes, and they got a pretty good reception,” Leeper continued. He would continue to talk about how the mode had its budget cut in 2012.

It has gotten to the point that PlayStation is offering refunds to fans who want their money back after buying the game.

When the game was released, fans started the “#FixWWE2K20” hashtag on social media, which has been trending for days, where fans vented about the issues with the game.

These issues also include missing features and fans not physically receiving all of the advertised items with their Collector’s Editions.

It should be noted that there was no early access for collectors or deluxe versions this year. It’s available for fans to play on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

2K Splits With Veteran WWE Studio In Favor Of Visual Concepts

2K has decided to split with Yuke’s, which is a veteran studio that has produced WWE video games, in favor of Visual Concepts.

The change will start with the upcoming WWE 2K20 video game, according to VideoGameChronicle. 2K confirmed the news in a statement to the media outlet.

It should be noted that Yuke’s confirmed the split but also noted that they will continue providing support to 2K with regard to the game engine. 2K provided the following statement to VGC:

“WWE 2K20 will be developed by Visual Concepts, who have worked with Yuke’s on the development of the series since WWE 2K14.

“As we’ve continued to invest in the WWE 2K franchise, we’ve seen the Visual Concepts team display incredible passion, talent and commitment to the future of the series. We thank Yuke’s for their years of partnership and are excited to see what the Visual Concepts team brings to the franchise moving forward.”

This is a significant change as Yuke’s has worked to produce WWE video games since 1999 and released WWE SmackDown on the PS1. Up until 2013, they were the sole developer of the game under THQ.

That all changed when 2K acquired the rights to WWE’s games in 2013 from THQ and brought the Visual Concepts team to help work on the game

Just back in May, Yuke’s announced their plans to produce a wrestling-related video game to compete with the WWE 2K franchise. The idea was to increase creativity amongst its developers through internal competition.

WWE 2K20 will be released on October 22nd, 2019 with no early access for collectors or deluxe versions this year. It will be made available for fans to play on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

WWE 2K20 released the first official game play trailer for the new game today. New details regarding the edition will be released tomorrow, August 5th, including the reveal of the cover and which Superstar(s) will be on it.

Actual gameplay footage begins at about the 40 second mark of the below trailer:

WWE 2K20 News and Rumors

Will Becky Lynch Be On The Cover?

The WWE 2K20 cover art will be revealed tomorrow but there has been much speculation that Becky Lynch could be the featured Superstar this year. She spoke to ComicBook.com about the possibility:

“It’s just a matter of being the top player, the biggest face of this company,” Lynch said. “To make your name in this business, that’s what I want. That’s what I’m shooting for, and the video game cover would be a nice little stepping stone.”

Sasha Banks is also reported to have been in Orlando earlier this summer filming content for the game.

Yuke’s Developing Rival Wrestling Game?

One of the studios behind the WWE 2K series, Yuke’s, has decided to split up their development team and create another wrestling game to rival their own series. The idea being that much like in the wrestling industry, competition in the video game field creates a better product.
