    Sasha Banks Retained

Sasha Banks defended her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Nia Jax in the first match of the night. Before the match, Bianca Belair told Sasha that accepting this match was a mistake and that Reginald was still in her head. Beliar added that she will not come out to save Sasha tonight and Banks told her she didn’t ask her to.

Banks and Belair will face Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler for the Women’s Tag Team Championships this Sunday night at WWE Fastlane. Shayna Baszler accompanied Nia Jax to the ring for the title match tonight. Reginald was not in attendance because Nia Jax gave him a “spa day” to prepare for their victory celebration tonight.

Sasha controlled the action early and drove Nia’s face into the middle turnbuckle. Banks stomped away on Nia in the corner before connecting with Double Knees. Sasha went for the Bank Statement but Nia broke free and dropped the SmackDown Women’s Champion with an elbow to the face.

Jax showed off her power and lifted Banks above her head before dropping her to the canvas for a two count. Nia connected with another elbow to the midsection for a near fall. Jax connected with the Samoan Drop and went for the cover but Sasha was able to kick out at the last moment.

Bianca Belair’s music hit and she marched down the entrance ramp. Sasha rolled out of the ring as SmackDown went to a commercial break. Nia Jax was still in control when SmackDown returned and hit a Side Slam for another near fall. Jax applied the Stretch Muffler submission and then smashed Banks’ head off the turnbuckle for a two count.

Nia applied a Headlock in the middle of the ring. Jax went back to the Stretch Muffler submission but Sasha escaped. Nia went for a Senton but Banks dodged it and hit a Meteora for two count. Sasha planted Jax with a DDT and immediately locked in the Bank Statement. Shayna got into the ring and accidentally hit Nia as the referee was distracted. Sasha capitalized with a roll-up for the pinfall victory. Sasha Banks is still the SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Jax said that if Shayna costs them the titles at Fastlane she is coming after her. Baszler apologized and said she was going to get match with Belair and give her the nastiEST beating of her life.

    Shinsuke Nakamura Interrupted Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins made his way to the ring as SmackDown went to a commercial break. Rollins noted that the superstars in the locker room greeted him upon his return because they respected him. Seth added that he respected their decision to be idiots and turn their backs on him.

Rollins claimed Cesaro took things too far and embarrassed him. Seth said that Cesaro is simply jealous of him because he is successful and is a WrestleMania main event while Cesaro is a failure. Rollins referred to himself as a fighter and the same cannot be said bout Cesaro.

Footage of Rollins’ attack on Cesaro last week was then shown. Rollins laughed in the ring and mimicked Cesaro stumbling around after the attack. Seth cracked himself up with a couple of jokes before staring into the camera. Rollins stated that Cesaro swung him around 22 times and he will never embarrass him like that again. Seth added that Cesaro is the biggest waste of potential in the history of WWE.

Shinsuke Nakamura interrupted and made his way to the ring. Rollins told Shinsuke to not disrespect him and that Nakamura is more of a man than Cesaro will ever be. Shinsuke grabbed the microphone away from Rollins and told him to shut up. Nakamura booted Rollins in the face and went for the Kinshasa but Seth retreated out of the ring. Rollins got back into the ring and Nakamura leveled him with the Kinshasa. It was later announced that Seth Rollins will face Shinsuka Nakamura this Sunday at Fastlane.

Rey & Dominik def. Street Profits

Street Profits faced Rey and Dominik Mysterio tonight. SmackDown Tag Team Champions Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler joined commentary for the match. Michael Cole referred to them as the “Top Dawgs” and Ziggler corrected him that they are called the “Dirty Dawgs”.

Dominik and Montez Ford started off the action. Dominik tripped up Montez and then both superstars traded Arm Drags. Ford booted Dominik in the midsection after shaking his hand. Rey tagged in and leveled Montez with a Dropkick. Ford hit Rey with a shoulder tackle and Dawkins tagged in.

Angelo hit Rey with a Splash in the corner of the ring and quickly tagged Ford in. Dawkins missed with another Splash attempt and Rey sent Ford to the ropes. Dominik tagged in and hit Dawkins with a Hurricanrana but turned around into a massive Clothesline from Ford for a two count. Dawkins tagged back in and lifted Dominik up in the Electric Chair. Rey knocked Ford off the top rope and Dominik rolled up Angelo for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Otis and Chad Gable made their way to the ring. Gable told the Mysterio’s that their victory doesn’t put them in line for a title shot because they already embarrassed them. Alpha Academy got distracted by the Street Profits and Rey and Dominik hit Gable & Otis from behind with a couple Dropkicks as SmackDown went to a break.

Alpha Academy def. Rey & Dominik

Alpha Academy battled Rey and Dominik when SmackDown returned. Rey hit Gable with a Senton and sent him to the ropes. Mysterio connected with a 619 and climbed to the top rope. Otis crotched him on the top turnbuckle and tagged in. Otis hit Rey with a headbutt and followed it up with a Body Slam.

Mysterio broke the hold by biting Otis in the face but the big man connected with a powerful Body Slam. Otis went for a Splash but Rey got out of the way.

Mysterio hit Otis with a Dropkick and tagged in Dominik. Gable tagged in and walked into a Hurricanrana from Dominik. Gable hit Dominik with a German Suplex and Otis followed it up with a big Splash off the middle turnbuckle for the pinfall victory.

Daniel Bryan Vowed To Tap Out Roman Reigns

Daniel Bryan came down to the ring to begin the 2nd hour of SmackDown. Bryan said tonight’s main event is Edge versus Jey Uso and it is Edge’s first match on SmackDown in over ten years. Bryan noted that the winner of the match will be the special guest enforcer for his Universal Championship match at Fastlane.

Bryan said that we know what will happen if Jey wins and Roman Reigns isn’t the champion he thinks he is because he needs Jey’s help. Daniel said that he knows that Edge wants nothing more than to face Roman Reigns one on one at WrestleMania.

Daniel suggested that Edge doesn’t want to face Bryan at WrestleMania because the believes he can defeat Roman Reigns. Bryan stated that he knows he can beat Roman Reigns and vowed to tap him out this Sunday at WWE Fastlane. Universal Champion Roman Reigns interrupted and came to the entrance ramp with Paul Heyman.

Reigns laughed at the idea that Bryan is going to tap him out Fastlane and told Daniel that he doesn’t have a chance this Sunday. Reigns joked that Bryan has a better chance of shooting lightning out of his ass than tapping him out this Sunday. Roman said that nobody has ever tapped him out and would rather die in the ring than tap out to someone like Daniel Bryan.

Bryan told Reigns that being the “Head of the Table” is a lie and everyone thinks they are unbeatable until they lose. Daniel said he is not just going to make Reigns quit, he is going to break him of his beliefs and hopes he doesn’t die. Daniel added that whether or not Reigns taps out, he is beating him this Sunday at Fastlane.

    Sami Zayn Attacked Kevin Owens

Sami Zayn squared off against King Corbin tonight on SmackDown. Before the match, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens had a conversation backstage. Owens suggested that Zayn is going crazy and using fake conspiracies to make up for things not going his way. Sami asked Owens to be ringside for the match and that he will drop his conspiracy documentary if nothing fishy happens. Before the match, WWE aired a video package calling this a match that nobody wants to see.

Owens joined commentary as King Corbin dominated the match early. Owens said Sami is obviously going through something and he has never seen him like this. Corbin leveled Sami with a Clothesline as Graves complained about video promo that aired before the match and suggested it was part of the conspiracy.

Corbin ran at Zayn but he leaped out of the way and Corbin crashed into the ring post. Sami rolled up Corbin for a two count and complained that the referee wasn’t counting fast enough. Zayn started taking off the ring pad and Corbin just planted him with End of Days for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Kevin Owens told Michael Cole that he didn’t see anything fishy and the referee did a good job. Owens told Sami that sometimes things will not go his way and he needs to let go of this. Sami then leveled Owens with a Helluva Kick and shouted that he thought Kevin was smarter than this.

Opinion: I’m always down for a Sami Zayn versus Kevin Owens match and that sounds great for WrestleMania. The conspiracy angle is goofy as hell but everyone knows Owens and Zayn will deliver.

Big E Sent A Message To Apollo Crews

Intercontinental Champion Big E and Apollo Crews were interviewed tonight. Big E will defend his title against Crews this Sunday at WWE Fastlane. Michael Cole asked if Big E and Crews if there is a chance that they will ever settle their differences. Big E said that is over and he wants vengeance on Apollo Crews. Big E vowed to retain the Intercontinental Championship and Apollo is going to get everything he deserves. Crews told Big E that he is treading very dangerous ground speaking to Nigerian royalty like this. Apollo recited a Nigerian proverb “you fill your mouth with a razor and you will spit blood”. Crews said he was going to crack Big E’s face and stand over his mangled body as the new Intercontinental Champion.

Big E ripped off his microphone and stated he is not waiting until Sunday night. Big E hopped in a golf cart in Tropicana Field and started driving around looking for Crews. Bianca planted Shayna with a Spinebuster and went for the cover but Tamina and Natalya rushed the ring. Tamina and Natalya beat Belair and Jax down to end the match in a DQ.

Jey took a little time making the cover and it cost him.

Edge hit a Spear out of nowhere for the pinfall victory. Edge is the special ringside enforcer for the Universal Championship match between Reigns and Bryan at Fastlane. After the match, Reigns leveled Edge with a Spear and dared Bryan to get into the ring. Jey attacked Bryan from behind and Reigns hit him with a Spear. Top Matches Set For WWE Fastlane, Updated Card

New matches have been announced for the WWE Fastlane PPV.

On Monday night, the company confirmed that Drew McIntyre would face Sheamus in a singles match at this show. Shane McMahon vs. Braun Strowman has also been booked.

McIntyre and Sheamus have been at odds since dating back to early February.  It was originally reported WWE had plans for them to work a Last Man Standing Match at this show with the winner becoming the new #1 contender for the WWE Title and face Bobby Lashley for it at WrestleMania 37. However, WWE had other plans as they announced at the top of the Raw broadcast that McIntyre vs. Lashley would take place at Mania.

After a weird promo segment last week, WWE followed it up with them wrestling on Raw that ended with McMahon hitting an elbow drop off the top rope to send Strowman through a table. He then poured slim on Strowman to end the segment.

Intercontinental Title Match Set For WWE Fastlane

WWE has announced an Intercontinental title match for Fastlane, the final pay-per-view event on the road to WrestleMania 37.

WWE Intercontinental Champion Big E will defend his title against recently turned-heel Apollo Crews on WWE Fastlane. On this week’s SmackDown, we saw Big E return to the show after he was stretchered out after a brutal attack by Crews a few weeks ago. Crews had used steel steps as his weapon, launching them into the air so that they could fall down on Big E. The returning champion had much to say about what transpired over the past few weeks on this week’s episode.

Big E came down to the ring with braces and bandages on, only to remove them and show how fit he is. Big E said that he was in a medical facility because of Apollo Crews and there’s no coming back from that for Crews. Big E demanded that Crews show up, but he didn’t come out. Big E said that he’s not surprised, but he got all dressed up to defend his Intercontinental title tonight and he issued an open challenge to anyone who wants a shot at the belt from the locker room.

King Corbin came out and told Big E to calm down because he was looking crazy. Sami Zayn also joined the discussion and said that he’s ready to fight. Zayn said that it would be the perfect ending for his documentary and that since Corbin never actually accepted his challenge, he’s good to go. Big E said that whoever gets in the ring first gets the match, and Zayn ran in first to meet with punches and a Big Ending sending him out of the ring. The bell rang and Big E was able to successfully defend his title.

Big E’s celebrations were put to a halt as Apollo Crews’ music started playing and Crews launched a surprise attack from behind on him, hitting him with a suplex. He picked up the steel steps again and hit Big E’s arm and wrist with them.

Apollo Crews was asked backstage why he attacked Big E when he could have just accepted his Open Challenge instead. Crews said that he’s a descendant of Nigerian royalty and he answers to no one. People like Big He cater to him instead, he said. He then said he’d gladly accept his challenge for the Intercontinental Championship, at WWE Fastlane, that is.

  • Last Man Standing Match Planned For WWE Fastlane

Last Man Standing Match Planned For WWE Fastlane

WWE is just a few weeks away from the Fastlane pay-per-view event and just like with Elimination Chamber last month, not much has been announced in advance for the show.

This past Monday’s episode of Raw featured Sheamus and Drew McIntyre wrestling each other for the second straight week that saw them go to a no contest in a No DQ Match after both men were unable to get back up to their feet. The previous week saw them work a singles match with McIntyre going over.

The finish was done to set up a third match, which was expected as it is slated to take place at Fastlane in less than two weeks. Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live that the plan is for them to wrestle each other in a Last Man Standing match.

There is speculation that WWE will announce the winner of this match will earn the right to challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 37.

As it stands right now, WWE has only announced two matches for Fastlane – Roman Reigns defending the WWE Universal Title against Daniel Bryan and Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler defending the Women’s Tag Team Titles against Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair. More matches are expected to be announced in the coming days.

Here are the takeaways from this week’s show:

    Roman Reigns Interrupted Daniel Bryan

Michael Cole kicked off SmackDown and introduced Daniel Bryan. Cole noted that Bryan will face Jey Uso in a Steel Cage match tonight and will earn a Universal Championship match at Fastlane. Cole said that they were going to have a tag team match at Fastlane with Bryan teaming with Edge against Jey and Reigns.

Bryan stated that nobody ever asked him if he wanted to take part in the tag team match because everybody believes he will do what is asked of him. Daniel knows Edge versus Reigns is a dream match but is going to do his best to make sure that it does not happen. Bryan then told Cole he can take it from here and rolled a video package from Elimination Chamber.

Daniel said he has lost and gotten beat up a lot in his career but felt like such a failure when Edge Speared Reigns and pointed at the WrestleMania sign. Bryan claimed he doesn’t have a lot of ambition because he got one of the lowest scores on a WWE personality test. He stated that for the last year he has had it in his mind that he was going to become a full-time dad in the future.

Bryan added that he put himself on the back burner for the past year and realized he has a lot more ambition than he thought. Daniel shouted that he deserves to be in the main event and has wrestled more matches in the past three weeks than Edge & Reigns have in the past three months. Daniel said that this could be his last chance to main event WrestleMania so he has to beat Jey tonight and then defeat Reigns at Fastlane.

Universal Champion Roman Reigns interrupted with Jey Uso and Paul Heyman. Reigns raised the Universal Championship as SmackDown went to a commercial break. When SmackDown returned, Reigns was in the ring with Bryan. Roman told Bryan that he doesn’t sound like the same guy and is confusing their audience.

Reigns told Bryan that he is an underdog, a little guy, a lotto winner, a guy who waits on an opportunity and sometimes it works out. Roman added that Bryan doesn’t love wrestling, he needs it because he has nothing else. Reigns said he loves this business and does it because everybody needs him, including Bryan. Roman claimed that Bryan will know in his heart that he needs him and will acknowledge him after Jey whoops his ass tonight.

Jey ripped the microphone away from Bryan and said that this as close as Daniel will get to the Universal Championship. Uso added that Bryan’s Road to WrestleMania ends tonight and went for a cheap shot but Daniel was ready. Daniel sent Jey out of the ring to end the segment.

King Corbin Didn’t Want To Team With Sami Zayn

Street Profits came to the ring as SmackDown went to a commercial break. When SmackDown returned, Sami Zayn said their victory over himself and Corbin was a fluke and they will prove it tonight. King Corbin interrupted and said he doesn’t like Sami and wants a singles match. Ford then faced Corbin and Dawkins battled Sami after.

Montez Ford hit King Corbin with a Dropkick but he shrugged it off and connected with a Spinebuster for a two count. Ford applied a Sleeper Hold but Corbin broke free. Montez sent Corbin to the corner and connected with a Splash. Ford followed it up with a DDT and then a Standing Moonsault for a two count. Ford got distracted by Zayn and Corbin capitalized with the End of Days for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Sami told Corbin that he helped him and asked him to return the favor. Dawkins knocked Zayn off the apron and onto Corbin. The two superstars started arguing again and Corbin made his way backstage as SmackDown went to a break.

When SmackDown returned, Dawkins was in control and leveled Sami with a shoulder tackle. Angelo followed it up with a Dropkick and went for the cover but Sami was able to kick out at two. Zayn connected with a Clothesline but Dawkins kicked out at two.

Sami started complaining about the how long it took the referee and Dawkins capitalized with a Neckbreaker for a tow count. Sami went for the Blue Thunder Bomb but Dawkins escaped. Sami slammed Dawkins against the turnbuckle with an Exploder Suplex and set up for the Helluva Kick.

Montez distracted Sami and Dawkins rolled him up for the pinfall victory. After the match, Sami Zayn claimed one of the documentary filmmakers was in on it and beat him down against the barricade.

    Dominik def. Chad Gable

Dominik faced Chad Gable tonight on SmackDown. Rey Mysterio and Chad Gable were ringside for the match. Dominik sent Gable out of the ring to start off the action and then planted him with an Arm Drag. Gable battled back and slammed Dominik’s knee into the canvas.

Dominik went for a Tornado DDT but Gable blocked it. Gable connected with a Tiger Suplex and bridged into the cover but Dominik kicked out at two. Dominik then rolled up Gable for the pinfall victory.

    Seth Rollins Rejected Murphy’s Offer

Kayla Braxton interviewed Seth Rollins backstage tonight. Kayla pointed out that it seemed like Cesaro had Rollins in the Swing forever last week. Rollins agreed and said that Cesaro wanted to humiliate him. Seth vowed to never forget that and then Buddy Murphy showed up. Murphy said that he can assist Rollins with the Cesaro situation but Seth told him to get out of his sight.

    Bianca Belair def. Shayna Baszler

Shayna Baszler faced Bianca Belair tonight. Sasha Banks and Nia Jax were ringside for the match. Jax and Baszler will defend their Women’s Tag Team Championships against Belair and Banks at WWE Fastlane. Carmella fired Reginald tonight because she thought he was obsessed with Sasha Banks. Reginald then followed Sasha to the ring tonight.

Baszler dominated the action early and connected with a kick to Belair’s shoulder. Shayna followed it up with a running knee to the injured arm for a two count. Belair battled back and connected with a Body Slam before sending Shayna to the corner.

Bianca followed it up with a Suplex and a Back Body Drop. Shayna sent Bianca out of the ring and towards Reginald. Belair shoved Reginald to the floor and ran into a kick from Baszler in the ring. Nia tried to Clothesline Reginald but he ducked and she hit Banks with a Clothesline. Shayna went for the Kirifuda Clutch but Belair escaped and hit the KOD for the pinfall victory. Sasha slapped Reginald and told him to stay out of her business. Reginald later tried to talk to Sasha Banks but she shut the door in his face. Nia Jax then showed up and said that Reginald was kind of cute.

    Cesaro def. Murphy

Cesaro squared off against Murphy tonight. Seth Rollins joined commentary for the match. Cesaro hit a Backbreaker for a near fall as Rollins argued with Cole. Murphy sent Cesaro out of the ring and flipped onto him. Murphy connected with a Meteora for a two count. Cesaro got Murphy in the Swing and applied the Sharpshooter for the submission victory.

    Apollo Crews Demanded A Rematch

Apollo Crews came down to the ring with the “Nigerian Elite Guard” and said they have protected his family for generations. Crews said his dad would tell him stories of fearless Nigerian warriors and now history is repeating itself. Apollo added that when Big E tried to humble him he heard his ancestors telling him to stand up for himself. Crews said he wanted a rematch against Big E for the Intercontinental Championship.

Daniel Bryan Earned A Universal Championship Match At Fastlane

Corey Graves explained the rules of a Steel Cage match to fill time before the main event. Daniel Bryan then faced Jey Uso inside the cage. If Bryan won the match, he would earn a shot at the Universal Championship at Fastlane. Universal Champion Roman Reigns told Jey not to embarass the family and took a seat ringside before the match.

Jey Uso dominated the match early and tried to leave the cage through the door but Bryan stopped him. Bryan hit a Dropkick and launched Jey into the steel cage. Bryan went to work on Jey’s left arm and drove it into the steel again. Bryan tried to escape the cage but Jey tripped him up on the turnbuckle. Uso stomped away on Bryan’s injured knee and climbed to the top of the cage. Daniel caught up to him but Jey hit a Samoan Drop off the top rope as SmackDown went to a break.

When SmackDown returned, Bryan and Jey were battling on the top of the cage again. Bryan booted Jey in the chest several times but Uso responded with a Superkick. Bryan fell to the canvas and Jey connected with a Splash for a near fall.

Jey tried to crawl out of the cage but Bryan stopped him. Jey connected with an Enziguri and followed it up with a Superkick for a two count. Uso tried to climb out of the cage but Bryan stopped him and connected with a few headbutts. Bryan brought Jey down to the canvas and applied the Yes Lock. Jey grabbed the ropes but there is no rope break in a Cage match. Jey tapped out and Bryan earned a Universal Championship match against Reigns at Fastlane.

Daniel Bryan will challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Title at the upcoming Fastlane pay-per-view event.

Last week’s episode of SmackDown saw Bryan do an opening segment with Reigns, which led to Bryan wanting a rematch against Reigns. However, a singles match between Bryan and Jey Uso was booked later in the night with both of them getting counted out.

John Cena Congratulates AJ Styles After WWE Fastlane, AJ Styles Warns Shinsuke Nakamura (Videos)

AJ Styles defended his WWE Championship at Fastlane in a Six-Pack Challenge against John Cena, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin. On this past Monday’s episode of RAW, Cena claimed that he was going to win the title and dared AJ Styles to invoke his rematch clause and make it a Triple Threat match at WrestleMania between Cena, Styles and Nakamura.

Cena stated that this was his last chance at making it to WrestleMania. He admitted that he failed at Elimination Chamber, but vowed to capture the WWE Championship at Fastlane. However, Cena once again came up short at WWE Fastlane 2018 and AJ Styles retained his WWE Championship. After the match, Cena raised AJ Styles’ hand and then clapped for him on the entrance ramp.

After his victory, WWE Champion AJ Styles was interviewed backstage by Cathy Kelley. AJ was asked about overcoming the odds and walking out of WWE Fastlane as the WWE Champion. Styles immediately brought up Shinsuke Nakamura and the dream match that is now official for WrestleMania 34. AJ said that now that the match is official, he is going to kick Shinsuke Nakamura’s ass at WrestleMania.

AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura posted the following tweets after WWE Fastlane:

  • Shane McMahon On Costing Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn The WWE Championship At Fastlane

Shane McMahon On Costing Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn The WWE Championship At Fastlane

AJ Styles defended his WWE Championship tonight at WWE Fastlane in a Six-Pack Challenge against Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin and John Cena. SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon was ringside for the match and wound up playing a pivotal role in the decision. Both Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens had the match won, but Shane decided to intervene during both pinfalls. After WWE Fastlane 2018 went off the air, the SmackDown Commissioner joined Renee Young and Sam Roberts on Talking Smack.

Shane claimed that he was totally provoked tonight. Renee Young stated that Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan seem to constantly let their emotions get in the way of their job. Shane admitted that his emotions got the best of him tonight due to Kevin Owens accidentally Superkicking him in the face.

Renee asked where Shane draws the line on letting his emotions control his decisions. Shane McMahon stated that Daniel Bryan was correct in his assessment that he has let his emotions get in the way. Sam Roberts asked if Shane regretted his actions tonight and Shane quickly said he doesn’t know. Shane added that his adrenaline is still pumping and that he is not pleased with what happened tonight and once again brought up being kicked in the face.

Sam Roberts brought up that Kevin Owens was trying to kick Sami Zayn in the face tonight and Sami ducked, which led to Shane getting kicked in the face. Shane simply said “okay”. Roberts asked why Shane was even ringside for the match tonight but was quickly cut off by Renee Young. Renee brought up Owens attacking Vince McMahon last year and added that must have left a mark on Shane McMahon. Shane agreed that is where it all started and noted that he and Owens never liked each other. Shane said that he respected Owens’ talent but doesn’t care for him at all as a person.

Shane noted that he will never forget what Owens did to his father and that he has had this coming to him for a very long time. Shane complained about Sami Zayn interfering in the Hell in a Cell match against Kevin Owens last year, just as he was about to get his revenge on Owens. Sam Roberts asked Shane if it was time to let Daniel Bryan have more control as Shane works through these issues and Shane said that they have already tried that. Shane added that he and Daniel have a great relationship, but they don’t always see eye-to-eye. Shane once again claimed that Daniel Bryan is living vicariously through Owens and Zayn.

Shane admitted that he was happy to see neither Owens and Zayn walk away with the WWE Championship tonight. Shane claimed that he stayed out of the way tonight until he got booted in the face. Renee Young disagreed and pointed out that Shane McMahon deliberately cost both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn the chance to become WWE Champion on back to back occasions tonight. Shane once again admitted that his emotions got the better of him but claimed that he didn’t regret it at the moment. He continued to say that he might regret it later after he gets a chance to chill out and calm down.

Baron beats down Ziggler until Ziggler comes back with a superkick, and both men are down.

Owens and Cena fight up onto the announce table, but Owens escapes. AJ runs up, but Cena catches him and AA’s him through the adjacent table. Owens drops Cena now, then gets in the ring and comes face to face with Sami. Sami lays down like he’s going to let Owens pin him, but then he grabs Owens and rolls him up in a small package for a two count. Owens and Sami start throwing right hands in the ring now, then they fight out to ringside where Owens whips Sami into the barricade. Owens looks for a powerbomb, but Sami escapes. They go up to the apron where Owens looks for the powerbomb again, but Sami revereses into a back drop on Owens on the apron. Sami gets in Shane’s face now at ringside, and Shane stands up. Owens goes to superkick Sami but Sami ducks and he superkicks Shane instead. Shane is down, and Sami hits a tornado DDT on Owens.

Back in the ring, Ziggler drops Sami, then Owens hits the pop up poweerbomb on Ziggler. Owens pins but Shane breaks up the pin. Sami boots Owens and pins but Shane breaks up that pin too.

Sami gets in Shane’s face, but Sami has to go back in the ring to break up a pin attempt. Corbin and Cena now go at it at ringside, and Corbin drops Cena with the ring steps. Rusev Day Runs Wild In ROH, WWE Fastlane 2016 Full Match (Video)

It’s Rusev Day In Ring Of Honor

There’s no doubt that Rusev is enjoying success outside of the stereotypical foreign heel. Since aligning himself with Aiden English, fans have taken note of Rusev’s more personable character. It also helps that he has a new catchphrase.

“Rusev Day” has not only taken over crowds, but also WWE’s merchandising. The company recently stocked up on more Rusev Day calendars after the first batch sold out quicker than expected. Despite the success, Rusev hasn’t exactly been booked to thrive on SmackDown Live. Some weeks he doesn’t even make an appearance and the Bulgarian hasn’t been shy to take issue with it.

At a recent ROH event, fans were seen chanting Rusev Day. The current WWE superstar had an intriguing response:

Road Dogg On Jeff Jarrett’s Influence

Road Dogg hasn’t forgotten his early days in WWE as The Roadie.

Back in the mid 90s, Road Dogg aligned himself with Jeff Jarrett. He played the role of Jarrett’s assistant. At the time, Jarrett’s character was one who had delusions of his musical talents. He viewed himself as a country music star who wanted to share his “expertise” with WWE fans.

In a recent interview posted on WWE’s official YouTube channel, Road Dogg talked about how Jarrett helped influence his career:

“I couldn’t be happier for Jeff. Jeff and I kind of came up together, second generation southern superstars. So I couldn’t be happier for Jeff and I’ve really enjoyed the resurgence of the “With My Baby Tonight” song. My daughter actually played it for me through the car on her cell phone … I really had a good time with Jeff growing up. He taught me a lot not only about sports entertainment, but about being a businessman. I think people forget that that’s what sports entertainers are.”

WWE Fastlane 2017 Recap & Reaction

    Kickoff Show

Rich Swann & Akira Tozawa defeated Brian Kendrick & Noam Dar.

    Main Card

    Samoa Joe vs Sami Zayn

The “ole’” chants began right when the match started. Joe connected with a kick of the knee of Zayn and Sami retreated to the corner. Zayn applied a Chinlock but Joe shot Zayn to the ropes and landed a kick to Zayn’s head that sent him to the mat. Joe then applied a Knee Bar but Sami quickly grabbed the ropes and the hold was broken. Joe connected with a couple of jabs but Zayn fought back with a few right hands of his own. Both Superstars were tangled in the corner and the referee broke them up. Joe used this to his advantage and punched Zayn right to the face. Joe caught Zayn with another kick to the head and Sami once again was knocked to the mat.

Joe continued the assault and connected with a chop to the chest of Zayn. Joe followed it up with a couple of jabs and another chop that knocked Zayn down. Sami fought back but Joe hit him with a chop block and Zayn once again fell to the mat. The crowd stated to get behind Sami as he powered to his feet. Sami leveled Joe with a Clothesline and hit a Blue Thunder Bomb for a two count. Sami climbed to the top turnbuckle but Joe joined him and punched him in the face. Zayn knocked Joe to the mat and tried to dive onto him but Joe moved out of the way. Joe then planted Zayn and hit a Senton for a two count. Joe then hit a Powerslam but Sami once again kicked out at two.

Joe then hit Zayn with several jabs to the face and Zayn fell to the mat. Sami tried to roll up Joe but Joe quickly kicked out. Sami then leveled Joe with a kick and once again climbed to the top turnbuckle. Joe once again caught him with a kick to the head and Zayn was perched on the top turnbuckle. Joe went for a Superplex but Zayn blocked it with a frenzy of punches. Zayn tried to Powerbomb Joe off the turnbuckle but Joe blocked it. Joe then applied the Coquina Clutch for the submission victory.

    Winner: Samoa Joe

Reaction: This match was solid. Samoa Joe completely dominated the entire match. I thought Zayn would have put up more of a fight but that was not the case tonight. Zayn barely got in any offense and whenever he did it was short lived. Samoa Joe has been awesome since joining the main roster and I’m looking forward to seeing what his role will be at this year’s Wrestlemania.

Bayley was interviewed backstage and she challenged Charlotte to leave Dana Brooke in the locker room. Nia Jax interrupted and stated that she was going to destroy Sasha Banks tonight. Nia then said that if Bayley somehow retains her title tonight, Nia Jax will be the one who takes it from her.

Raw Tag Team Championship Match: Gallows & Anderson (c) vs Enzo & Cass

Enzo and Cass controlled the first few minutes of the match and beat the hell out of Karl Anderson. Gallows finally had enough and charged into the ring but Cass Clotheslined him out of the ring. Cass then launched Enzo onto Gallows and Anderson outside the ring. Back in the ring, Anderson kicked Enzo in the face and connected with a few punches. Anderson posed for the crowd and then tagged in Gallows. Enzo was isolated in the corner for the next couple of minutes as Gallows knocked him around.

Anderson got back into the match and slammed Enzo to the mat. Anderson applied a Chinlock to Enzo in the middle of the ring as Cass tried to get the crowd pumped up. Enzo tried to tag in Big Cass but Anderson hit a Dropkick to prevent it. Gallows was then tagged in and he landed a right hand that sent Enzo to the mat. Gallows went for an Elbow Drop but Enzo got out of the way. Gallows tagged in Anderson and Enzo retreated to the corner. Anderson charged at Enzo but Enzo got out of the way.

Big Cass was finally tagged in and he immediately attacked Anderson. Cass hit the Empire Elbow and then hit a big boot to Gallows on the ring apron. Gallows then hit a boot to the face of Anderson and tagged Enzo. Enzo and Cass hit the Bada Boom Shacka Lacka on Anderson but Gallows broke up the pinfall. Everything broke down and Enzo launched onto Gallows outside the ring. Enzo tried to get back into the ring but Anderson hit a Dropkick on Enzo as he was in between the rope Anderson then pinned Enzo but Enzo got his foot on the rope. Gallows then shoved Enzo’s foot off the rope and the referee didn’t notice.

Winners & Still Tag Team Champions: Gallows & Anderson

Reaction: The lack of a build up really hurt this match. It was still a decent tag match but it felt rather unimportant. I thought Enzo and Cass would walk out of Fastlane with the titles but it was not meant to be. The match had a screwy finish so I wouldn’t be surprised if Enzo and Cass get a rematch soon.

Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon had a conversation on the phone backstage. Stephanie McMahon was having some problems with her flight and stated that she didn’t think she was going to make it to Fastlane tonight. Stephanie demanded that Foley make sure that the Raw Women’s Championship match and the Universal Championship match go down without any issues. Foley then said that Samoa Joe shouldn’t be ringside for the Universal Championship match and then disconnected the phone in the middle of the conversation.

    Sasha Banks vs Nia Jax

Nia dominated the first few minutes of the match. Nia was laughing the entire time and even at one point commented on how easy it was. Sasha connected with a kick but it didn’t phase Nia at all. Nia launched Sasha across the ring and taunted her. Nia slammed Banks to the mat and taunted the crowd. Nia then locked in a Torture Rack and proceeded to do squats with Sasha Banks draped across her shoulders. Sasha countered into a submission hold but Nia fought her way out of it. Sasha then applied a Sleeper Hold but Nia threw her off. Sasha hit a DDT and applied the Bank Statement to Nia in the middle of the ring. Nia quickly got to her feet and planted Sasha on the mat. Nia then hit a Leg Drop to the back of Sasha. Nia then lifted Sasha by the hair and swung her around the ring. Nia went for the Samoan Drop but Sasha countered it into a roll up for the pinfall victory.

    Winner: Sasha Banks

Rusev and Jinder Mahal are no longer a team and they both demanded singles competition tonight. Mick Foley told them both to go down to there ring. Jinder and Rusev started brawling. Jinder knocked Rusev over the barricade and returned to the ring. Cesaro then came down to the ring.

    Cesaro vs Jinder Mahal

Cesaro controlled the match early and planted Jinder with a Gutwrench Suplex. Cesaro then caught Jinder in mid air and connected with a Backbreaker. Cesaro tweaked his lower back during this move and Mahal took advantage. Jinder landed a Dropkick to Cesaro’s back and connected with several knees to the chest of Cesaro. Cesaro once again went for a Suplex but his back gave out. Jinder then hit a running knee to the face of Cesaro. Mahal launched Cesaro into the turnbuckle as the crowd became restless and a few started a “boring” chant. Cesaro was finally able to hit a Suplex but Mahal was the first Superstar to his feet. Cesaro hit a bunch of uppercuts on Mahal in the corner. Cesaro connected with a  619 and climbed to the top turnbuckle. Cesaro hit a Crossboday for a two count. Jinder connected with a kick to the face of Cesaro but was distracted by Rusev outside the ring. Cesaro then hit a massive uppercut for the victory. After the match, Rusev attacked Mahal and stomped him in the corner. Rusev then kicked Mahal in the face and knocked Jinder out of the ring.

    Winner: Cesaro

    Rusev vs Big Show

Big Show immediately knocked Rusev to the mat as “USA!” chants echoed throughout the crowd. Big Show connected with a chop to Rusev in the corner and Rusev rolled out of the ring. Big Show followed him and shoved Rusev in the barricade. Back in the ring, Big Show continued to dominate. Rusev fought back and launched his shoulder into the knee of Big Show. Rusev then connected with a series of kicks and punches to the head of Big Show. Rusev then hit three kicks to Big Show’s face but Big Show kicked out at two. Big Show then hit three Chokeslams in a row to Rusev and placed Rusev against the bottom rope. Big Show then hit the Knockout Punch for the victory.

    Winner: Big Show

Reaction: These two matches were random and were simply meant to kill some time on the show. This segment went on for around twenty minutes and there was only a moment where the crowd became restless. These matches were ultimately pointless and that reflects poorly on the booking of the show. I would have preferred to have Sami Zayn and Samoa Joe have a longer match and had the length of this segment cut in half. However, credit to Big Show, Rusev, Cesaro and Jinder Mahal for busting their ass to try and make something out of nothing. I have no idea why Rusev is being booked as a jobber. I thought he was going to be a major star in the WWE.

Cruiserweight Championship Match: Neville (c) vs Jack Gallagher

Neville controlled the first few minutes of the match. Gallagher fought back and connected with a couple of Dropkicks that sent Neville out of the ring. Gallagher launched onto Neville outside the ring. Gallagher brought Neville back into the ring but Neville caught him with a kick. Gallagher then picked up Neville and perched him on the top turnbuckle. Gallagher connected with a German Suplex off the top rope for a two count. Neville Suplexed Gallagher into the ropes and Gallagher bounced around until he fell to the mat. Neville launched Gallagher into the ropes and hit a German Suplex. Neville then climbed to the second rope and hit a Phoenix Splash for a two count.

Gallagher landed a headbutt that knocked Neville to the mat. Gallagher fell on top of him but Neville kicked out at two. Neville connected with a Superkick that knocked Gallagher to the ring apron. The crowd started to chant “this is awesome!” as Neville and Gallagher battled on the top turnbuckle. Gallagher connected with an awesome headbutt. Gallagher went for the Suplerplex but Neville shoved Gallager to the mat. Neville then connected with the Red Arrow for the victory.

Winner & Still Cruiserweight Champion: Neville

Reaction: I thought this match was destined to fail because it had to follow the two random matches before it. The match actually turned out to be better than I was expecting and the crowd got into it. I hope to see this match again in the near future.

    Braun Strowman vs Roman Reigns

Reigns came down to the ring to his usual reaction. Roman has apparently switched from boots to sneakers. The match started out back and forth. Strowman eventually took control of the match and hit a Splash for a two count. Strowman applied a Chinlock but Reigns battled out of it. Strowman leveled Roman once again by slamming him face-first into the mat. The match spilled outside the ring and Strowman cleared off the announce table. The match returned to the ring and Strowman launched himself at Reigns in the corner but Roman got out of the way. Strowman slammed into the ring post and Reigns immediately went on the attack. Reigns connected with a Samoan Drop for a two count.

Strowman battled back and slammed Reigns to the mat. Strowman once again charged at Reigns into the corner and once again missed. He went for a kick but Reigns got out of of the way and Braun went tumbling outside the ring. Reigns hit the Drive By and went for a Spear but Strowman caught him and hit the Running Powerslam through the announce table. The action returned to the ring and Reigns hit a Spear out of nowhere but Strowman kicked out. Reigns hit two Superman Punches but Strowman didn’t fall down. Braun then shoved Reigns to the mat and climbed to the top turnbuckle. Strowman went for a Splash but Reigns got out of the way. Reigns then hit another Spear for the victory.

    Winner: Roman Reigns

Reaction: This match probably had the best build up heading into Fastlane. The match itself was good but there were a couple of things that bothered me. Strowman kept missing wildly with his offense and hurled himself into the ring post several times. Strowman hit the Running Powerslam through an announce table and Roman Reigns recovered in a matter of moments. I know the days of finishing moves being devastating are long gone, but this one stood out as especially ridiculous. The WWE has spent a lot of time building Strowman up as a monster. I’m not sure why they felt the need to have him lose to Reigns at Fastlane. The Undertaker did not show up tonight so it is reasonable to assume that he will confront Roman Reigns tomorrow night on Monday Night Raw.

Mick Foley approached Samoa Joe backstage and threatened him. Foley said that if Joe gets involved in the Universal Championship match that there will be hell to pay.

Raw Women’s Championship Match: Bayley (c) vs Charlotte

Bayley controlled the match early on and connected with a Crossbody off the top rope. Bayley went for the Bayley to Belly but Charlotte blocked it and rolled out of the ring. Bayley chased Charlotte around the ring but Charlotte caught her with a Clothesline. Back in the ring, Charlotte applied a Chinlock and taunted Bayley by calling her “just a fan”. Charlotte continued to beatdown Bayley for the next few minutes and taunted Bayley the entire time. Finally, Bayley had enough and connected with a couple of chops. Charlotte halted her momentum and connected with a Neckbreaker.

Charlotte hit a Moonsault off the top rope for a two count. Charlotte grew frustrated and slapped Bayley in the back of head while screaming “you’re just a fan!”. Charlotte connected with a viscous chop that sent Bayley falling to the mat. Bayley fought back and landed a Clothesline. Bayley followed it up with several chops and a German Suplex for a two count. Bayley then went for some sort of springboard punch while Charlotte was caught between the ropes, but she completely missed her target.

Bayley hit a Hurricanrana on Charlotte from the top turnbuckle. Bayley climbed back onto the top turnbuckle and hit an Elbow Drop for a two count. Charlotte fought back and connected with a boot to Bayley’s face. Charlotte then hit the Natural Selection but Bayley kicked out at two. Charlotte was in disbelief that Bayley was able to kick out. Bayley went for a quick roll up but Charlotte kicked out. Charlotte launched Bayley off the ring apron and Bayley fell to the floor outside the ring. Charlotte climbed to the top rope but Sasha Banks ran to the ring. Sasha attacked Charlotte and Bayley hit the Bayley to Belly on Charlotte outside the ring. Back in the ring, Charlotte rolled up Bayley and grabbed her tights. Sasha Banks alerted the referee and Charlotte got pissed off. Bayley then hit the Bayley to Belly for the victory.

Winner & Still Raw Women’s Champion: Bayley

Reaction: Was this match a no disqualifications match or am I missing something? Sasha Banks attacked Charlotte right in front of the referee and nothing happened. I am glad that Bayley retained because I’m so tired of the Women’s Championship changing hands all the time. Having said that, this match made no sense to me and the crowd didn’t seem into it at all. Bayley challenged Charlotte to leave Dana Brooke backstage and Charlotte obliged. Bayley then won the match due to outside interference. I thought that Bayley would wind up being pissed off that Sasha got involved in the match but the two celebrated in the ring after the match. Charlotte’s undefeated streak at WWE PPVs is over and she was completely screwed over in the match. The outcome of this match was the complete opposite of what I was expecting. Sure it was surprising but also doesn’t make an ounce of sense.

Universal Championship Match: Kevin Owens (c) vs Goldberg

Owens and Goldberg barked at each other before the match. Owens rolled out of the ring before the referee called for the bell. Owens got into the ring and once again rolled out. Owens casually walked around the ring while Goldberg patiently waited for him. Owens finally got in the ring and Jericho’s music hit. The bell rang and Goldberg hit a Spear. Goldberg then hit a Jackhammer and won the match. Jericho applauded from the entrance ramp as Goldberg celebrated with the title.

Winner & New Universal Champion: Goldberg

Reaction: This was the most predictable outcome imaginable but I was holding out hope that it wouldn’t happen. I know some are tired of me complaining about Monday Night Raw and Raw exclusive PPVs but I’m going to do it again. I’m sorry but I do not find this entertaining at all. I do not think that the Goldberg and Lesnar match needs the Universal Championship. I hate the fact that two part-time performers are battling for the biggest title on Raw. I cannot stand that the Universal Championship isn’t being used to turn a younger talent into a bigger star. I’m not excited about the idea that Goldberg and Brock Lesnar will be closing out a Wrestlemania. Goldberg has yet to partake in a real match. He was in the Royal Rumble for a bit but the rest of his appearances have been promos and short matches like this one.

The Wrestlemania card is starting to form and I’m disappointed in the direction the WWE is going in. It just feels like more of the same. WWE Fastlane was a very poor show in my opinion. The Cruiserweight match was very good. Reigns and Strowman put on a solid match as well. The rest of the show was either predictable or left me scratching my head. I had a sense of dread once the time-killing segments started. Once the New Day came out for a meaningless promo I knew we were in for another short main event. There are clearly a lot of people that are entertained by Goldberg as the Universal Champion. The majority of the crowd reacted positively when Goldberg hit the Jackhammer for the victory.

  • WWE Fastlane 2017 Predictions

    WWE Fastlane 2017 Predictions

Rich Swann & Akira Tozawa vs Brian Kendrick & Noam Dar

Kendrick has been teaching Tozawa lessons the past couple of weeks because Tozawa didn’t want to be Kendrick’s protege. Kendrick’s lessons have been attacking Tozawa from behind any chance he gets. The Kendrick and Tozawa feud will continue after this match. I envision this match being a throwaway with Kendrick and Dar picking up a cheap victory.

Predicted Winners: Brian Kendrick & Noam Dar

    Sasha Banks vs Nia Jax

    https://twitter.com/kktraders67/status/837693099954556928

Stephanie McMahon placed Sasha Banks in this match as a form of punishment. Sasha Banks has been at Bayley’s side and even helped her obtain the Raw Women’s Championship. Nia Jax has been dominate as of late and I predict that will continue at Fastlane. Nia Jax will get the victory over Sasha Banks.

    Predicted Winner: Nia Jax

Raw Tag Team Championship Match: Gallows & Anderson (c) vs Enzo & Cass

The build to this match has been pretty much nonexistent. Gallows and Anderson were in a feud with Roman Reigns for absolutely no reason and then all of the sudden they are defending their titles against Enzo and Cass. I thought when Enzo and Cass joined the main roster they would make more of an impact than they have so far. They have been relegated to cutting funny promos and a feud with Rusev and Jinder Mahal. Even though they are the Raw Tag Team Champions, Gallows and Anderson feel like an afterthought every Monday night. I think it is time for Enzo & Cass to get the tag titles and hopefully have a substantial title reign.

Predicted Winners & New Raw Tag Team Champions: Enzo & Cass

Cruiserweight Championship Match: Neville (c) vs Jack Gallagher

Gallagher has been getting under Neville’s skin for the past few weeks and has become a bit of a crowd favorite in the Cruiserweight division. Having said that, Neville will most likely retain his title and hopefully this match is given some time. I think Neville and Gallagher can put on a very solid match. Neville will get the victory but Gallagher will put up a good fight and will get another shot at the title down the line.

Predicted Winner & Still Cruiserweight Champion: Neville

    Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman

Strowman has beaten the hell out of Roman Reigns on the past few episodes of Monday Night Raw. To his credit, Reigns has consistently fought back and will not go down this Sunday without a fight. Given the fact that Strowman has gotten the upper hand on Reigns the past few weeks, I think Reigns will outlast Strowman on Sunday. There is also a rumor that The Undertaker will show up this week and confront Roman Reigns. Roman eliminated The Undertaker in the Royal Rumble and is expected to face him at Wrestlemania. If The Undertaker shows up tomorrow night at Fastlane, then all bets are off and anything can happen. However, if Reigns is indeed going to face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania, it wouldn’t make too much sense for him to lose clean to Strowman at Fastlane.

    Predicted Winner: Roman Reigns

    Sami Zayn vs Samoa Joe

The build up to this match has been very good, especially since it wasn’t even supposed to happen in the first place. Seth Rollins and Samoa Joe most likely would have been facing each other tomorrow night but Rollins’ injury prevented that. Samoa Joe has looked dominant since joining the main roster and I don’t see a scenario where he doesn’t emerge victorious tomorrow night. Sami Zayn will put up a good fight but in the end Samoa Joe will walk away with the victory.

    Predicted Winner: Samoa Joe

Raw Women’s Championship Match: Bayley (c) vs Charlotte

Charlotte is undefeated at WWE PPVs and I see that streak continuing into Wrestlemania. The scenario that I believe would make the most sense is that Nia Jax continues to beatdown Sasha Banks after their match earlier. Bayley comes out to help Sasha and this leads to some friction between Sasha Banks and Bayley. Banks seems destined to turn on Bayley at some point. Any scenario is that Bayley asks Sasha to not interfere in her match tonight and Dana Brooke or Nia Jax helps Charlotte win back the Raw Women’s Championship. Of course, Charlotte could also just defeat Bayley without any help but I think it is more likely that Bayley gets screwed out of the title somehow. Whether it is an attack backstage before the match or something that transpires during the Banks and Jax match. I think Bayley will somehow enter this match at a disadvantage and it will cost her the title.

Predicted Winner & New Raw Women’s Champion: Charlotte

Universal Championship Match: Kevin Owens (c) vs Goldberg

This one is hard to predict. Everything is pointing to Goldberg walking out of Fastlane as the new Universal Champion but for some reason I do not think it will happen. I would be shocked if Chris Jericho doesn’t show up and attack Kevin Owens during the match. This could lead to Goldberg picking up a victory via count out of DQ and Owens retaining the title. Another possibility is that Brock Lesnar shows up and attacks Goldberg during the match. That doesn’t make too much sense to me because why would Lesnar attack Goldberg before he wins the Universal Championship? Finally, Owens was shown conversing with Triple H backstage during a recent episode of Monday Night Raw. Either Triple H or Samoa Joe could interfere in this match to ensure that Owens retains the Universal Championship. Goldberg is the heavy favorite in this match and he could simply just hit the Spear and the Jackhammer and defeat Owens in two minutes. I’d like to think that the WWE has something surprising planned to close out Fastlane.

Predicted Winner & Still Universal Champion: Kevin Owens

Breaking Down Everything That Was Wrong With Last Night’s Monday Night Raw (Editorial)

Opening Segment: Kevin Owens Cuts A Promo On Goldberg

Kevin Owens opened up Raw alone. There was no Chris Jericho by his side, nobody to hide behind. Instead, he sat in a chair and stated his strategy for defeating Goldberg at Fastlane. Owens vowed to outlast Goldberg. He said it is common knowledge that the longer a Goldberg match goes, the more likely it is that Goldberg will falter. Owens was going to address his attack on Chris Jericho last week but opted to drop the microphone and leave the ring. Two weeks before WWE Fastlane, the WWE wants you to take Kevin Owens seriously. He has spent months relying on others to help him win matches. If he drops the title to Goldberg, he was officially a paper champion. If he retains due to outside interference, he is the same old Kevin Owens. If he defeats Goldberg clean, then all of Goldberg’s mystique is gone heading into his match against Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania.

Enzo & Cass Become #1 Contenders For The Raw Tag Team Championships

After months of meaningless feuds, Enzo and Cass have finally been thrust into the Raw Tag Team Championship picture. They defeated Sheamus & Cesaro and will now face Gallows & Anderson for the titles at WWE Fastlane. Sheamus & Cesaro won the Raw Team Championships by defeating the New Day. The New Day were the longest reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history. Sheamus & Cesaro then did nothing with the titles and promptly dropped them to Gallows & Anderson on the Royal Rumble Kickoff Show. After the match, Sheamus leveled Enzo with a Brogue Kick outside the ring. Cesaro congratulated Sheamus on laying out Enzo. Are Sheamus & Cesaro now heels? I guess those backstage segments with Bayley the last couple of weeks were pointless.

Roman Reigns Beatdown Both Gallows & Anderson

For the second week in a row, Roman Reigns was able to beat the hell out of the Raw Tag Team Champions. There has really been no explanation as to why Gallows & Anderson insist on fighting Roman Reigns. These Handicap matches have done nothing but make Gallows & Anderson look weak. Roman Reigns looks powerful, but he always has. The problem is that he has never been able to connect with the WWE Universe the way that the WWE apparently wants him to. Instead of feeding a random team like the Shining Stars to Reigns, the WWE has instead made the Raw Tag Team Champions look even weaker than they already did before this “feud” with Roman Reigns.

The New Day Are The New Enzo & Cass

After dropping the Raw Tag Team Championships, the New Day have been in random feuds with Titus O’Neil and now Rusev & Jinder Mahal. The New Day were named the hosts of Wrestlemania 33, presumably because the WWE has nothing for them to do. The New Day are now protecting their blueprints to their ice cream that is coming out this year. Why every Superstar they face is obsessed with these blueprints I have no idea. Since losing the United States Championship, Rusev has been relegated to a comedy act. Rusev was once feared as this dominant force, now he is stuck in segments like the one we saw last night.

The Women’s Division On Raw Is The Same Thing Over And Over Again

Charlotte has never lost a match on a WWE PPV, yet is routinely beaten on Monday Night Raw. Last night, she tapped out to the Bank Statement via Sasha Banks. Last week, Charlotte lost her Women’s Championship to Bayley. It was announced that Charlotte will get her rematch for the Raw Women’s Championship at WWE Fastlane. Instead of slowly building Bayley up, she was given the Raw Women’s Championship on a random episode of Raw. Stephanie McMahon wanted Bayley to relinquish the title due to Sasha Banks interfering in her match with Charlotte last week. If Bayley drops the title to Charlotte at Fastlane, that will make Charlotte a 5x Raw Women’s Champion in under a year.

I find it hard to believe that Charlottes undefeated PPV streak would end at Fastlane. It would make much more sense for that moment to happen at Wrestlemania. It also would have made more sense for Bayley to overcome Charlotte and The Authority and finally get her moment at Wrestlemania. Instead, we’ve already seen that moment of her winning the Raw Women’s Championship. The other option is for Bayley to retain and face either Sasha Banks or Nia Jax at Wrestlemania. The problem with that is that Nia Jax receives virtually no reaction from the WWE Universe. Sasha Banks has zero momentum right now and Wrestlemania is five weeks away. It just seems like the better story would have been to hold Bayley down until Wrestlemania. Charlotte could have screwed Bayley out of winning the Raw Women’s Championship until the biggest show of the year.

Roman Reigns Is In No Man’s Land

Roman Reigns has gotten his ass kicked two weeks in a row by Braun Strowman. Reigns will face Strowman at WWE Fastlane. If he defeats Strowman at Fastlane, people will be pissed off. If Reigns loses, what does he do at Wrestlemania? As of now, Roman Reigns is not a part of a major match at Wrestlemania. I’m not sure if the WWE thought that placing Reigns in Handicap matches would cause the audience to be more receptive to him. Whatever they were going for, it hasn’t worked at all.

Michael Cole made it a point to say that Roman Reigns sent a message after he beatdown Gallows & Anderson. I have zero clue what that message is supposed to be. Is Reigns going to face Strowman at Fastlane and then again at Wrestlemania? Reigns is a no win situation right now. If he gets thrust into the Universal Championship picture before Wrestlemania, people will get pissed off. If he is not a part of a major match at Wrestlemana, that feels like a waste. Say what you want about Roman Reigns, at the very least he generates a reaction from the WWE Universe. Right now, he seems to be in a position where the WWE Universe does not want him to succeed, yet the WWE still wants him to be a top guy.
