Update On Brock Lesnar & Paul Heyman’s Return, Lesnar’s Next High-Profile Match

In an update on the WWE status of Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman, both guys are scheduled to return at WWE RAW next Monday night in Cleveland, Ohio.

Lesnar and Heyman will be back again the next week in Indianapolis, and are both planned to be regulars on television at least through the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view.

Lesnar’s next high-profile match is scheduled to be at the WWE Battleground pay-per-view on July 19th, however he’s also booked fr the July 4th live WWE Network special from Japan, where he will be taking on Kofi Kingston.

It’s worth noting that the current plan is that WWE will not be promoting the 7/4 live special from Japan the same way they did with the recent Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

Vince McMahon Upset With Steve Austin Over Latest “Stone Cold Podcast”

As seen earlier this week, Steve Austin immediately downplayed the speculation about a possible WrestleMania 32 match with Brock Lesnar, and apparently there’s a very good reason for that.

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Austin vs. Lesnar will not be happening next year and part of the reason is because Austin and Vince McMahon have some issues. While the key issues aren’t specified, it is noted that McMahon was not happy with how Austin’s “Stone Cold Podcast” with Paul Heyman ended because it caused anticipation and excitement for a match that is not currently part of WWE’s plans for WrestleMania 32.

After the podcast ended, McMahon reportedly spoke to Austin and made it clear that he wanted the story to go away quickly and quietly, so he asked Austin to address it once and then move on, which is exactly what Austin ended up doing.

WWE To Change Slammy Awards?, Plans For More Live WWE Network Specials

The plan right now in WWE is for the company to present live quarterly specials on the WWE Network in 2016, such as the Elimination Chamber, King Of The Ring, or the upcoming live special from Japan on July 4th.

Another plan right now in the company is for WWE to make the Slammy Awards a standalone event as opposed to an episode of RAW. The idea would be to air the special on the WWE Network and have it be similar to the annual WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony, where WWE rents a small theater type building instead of a major arena.

WWE Changes Original Plans For Matches At MITB & 7/4 WWE Network Special In Japan

– Although WWE originally had The Miz scheduled as a third participant in the WWE Intercontinental Championship bout at this Sunday’s WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view, for whatever reason they decided to make it a straight singles match between Big Show and Ryback.

– While Chris Jericho will be wrestling Neville on the July 4th live WWE Network special from Sumo Hall in Japan, it is not the original opponent he requested. Originally, Jericho specifically asked to work with Hideo Itami, however when he found out Itami was hurt, he asked for Finn Balor. For whatever reason, WWE decided to go with Neville vs. Jericho for the live special on 7/4, however it is believed that Jericho will be working Balor on the non-televised date in the same building on 7/3.

Update On WWE’s Plans For Free Months Of WWE Network, Sami Zayn’s Return Status

– As announced earlier this week, WWE is offering another free month of the WWE Network in June, the third month in a row that they have gone this route. Because the free month promotion seems to be a success in terms of subscriptions, it is believed that WWE will continue to offer free months on a pretty regular basis going forward, with August, January and the WrestleMania months as the likely exceptions.

– Following his surgery to repair his injured shoulder, former NXT Champion Sami Zayn is expected to remain on the sidelines until October. Whether or not he returns to the NXT brand or the main roster remains to be seen, as prior to his injury, WWE had plans to move Zayn up to the main roster. With the lengthy absence, it is expected that Zayn will return to NXT before moving up to the main roster.

Brock Lesnar’s International Drawing Power, Update On WWE’s Live Special In Japan

The announcement of Brock Lesnar wrestling at what we now know will be a live WWE Network special at Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan on July 4th resulted in ticket sales going from average to an immediate, legitimate sell out. Because of the way WWE will be setting up the arena, there is only 6,500 tickets for the event, however WWE will likely announce a figure close to 11,000. Lesnar is scheduled to wrestle Kofi Kingston on the show.

There was still advertising for Daniel Bryan appearing on the tour as recently as this week, although he could appear in a non-wrestling capacity, as Hideo Itami, who will not be wrestling, is also being advertised for the show.

Additionally, Japanese wrestling legend Tatsumi Fujinami may attend one or both of the shows in Japan, with the hook being that WWE put him in their Hall Of Fame earlier this year.

The event will also include the previously reported Brock Lesnar vs. Kofi Kingston match, and will also feature a John Cena main event, as well as a match including Chris Jericho.

Steve Austin: “WWE RAW Is Like Wrestling For Morons”

Steve Austin’s ups and downs with WWE over the years are well documented and although he’s returning to the WWE Network tonight for a Stone Cold Podcast with Paul Heyman, “The Rattlesnake” still isn’t shy about criticizing the product.

On his latest Steve Austin show podcast at PodcastOne.com, Austin took WWE to task for the way they have been booking RAW lately.

“It’s simple, it’s to the point,” said Austin of the NXT product. “It’s not dumbed down like Monday Night RAW.”

Austin continued, “On Monday Night RAW it’s like they want to fill in every blank for you. It’s like wrestling for morons. They’ve over thought it.”

The WWE Hall Of Famer did point out that it’s easier to make NXT a good show because it’s one hour, compared to RAW being a live, three-hour show each week.

“It’s a one hour show, I get it,” said Austin of NXT television. “I like the format of the NXT show.”

Update On Steve Austin/WWE, Next Three Guests For Austin’s WWE Network Podcast Revealed

Steve Austin and WWE are officially back in business together, with his “Stone Cold Podcast” returning to the WWE Network on June 1st with special guest Paul Heyman.

The show will air on the night after the free month of May ends, as historically, the two most-watched shows in WWE Network history, aside from live pay-per-view events, were Austin’s two podcasts with Vince McMahon and Triple H.

Apparently Austin and WWE working together again came as a result of whatever issue Vince McMahon had being mended somehow.

One of the other reasons Austin is coming back is because of the busy schedule of Chris Jericho. Between hosting Tough Enough, doing house shows and touring with Fozzy, Jericho won’t be available to do podcasts on the WWE Network as often as might be necessary.

After Heyman, Austin’s next three guests on the WWE Network podcast will be Sting, The Undertaker and Hulk Hogan.
