Goldberg Speaks On Being Slighted On Monday Night War Special, Sin Cara Interview

– A fan recently tweeted Goldberg and commented about how he felt WWE “completely glossed over” Goldberg’s impact on WCW overtaking WWE in the ratings during the latest edition of “The Monday Night War” series on the WWE Network. Goldberg responded to the fan by simply saying, “Totally expected.”

– Sin Cara, in his mask, recently appeared on Power 98.3 in Phoenix, Arizona. You can check out video of that interview below.

  • The Monday Night War: Worth the Wait?

After much hype and anticipation, the new The Monday Night War program finally hit the WWE Network this past week. Thus far, the original pilot episode that aired a few weeks back and two new episodes are available for streaming on the Network.

After announcing the launch of the WWE Network, this program was probably the most hyped original piece of programming to hit the Network. In fact, they purposely saved it in order to entice the initial round of subscribers to stick around for another six months.

The second episode of the series was very similar to the nWo DVD that was released a few years back.

The second episode of the series was very similar to the nWo DVD that was released a few years back.

So, after all of the hype and build for the newest WWE original series, was it worth the wait? After flying through the first three episodes, unfortunately it does not seem to add much to the Monday Night War discussion.

There are a few shortcomings that are immediately apparent. Most importantly, it seems to gloss over an entire era in just under an hour. The first episode was off to a great start, with Ted Turner’s acquisition of WCW serving as an adequate launching point. It was a quality pilot for the series and it was expected that the company would take a slow, in-depth look at the era.

However, episodes two and three of the series quickly took the wind out of the sails. The nWo episode, while entertaining, provided nothing that was not already available on the nWo DVD that was released a few years back. In fact, nearly all of the commentary that was featured on the Monday Night War episode was directly lifted from that release.

The same held true for the third episode, which discussed the Attitude Era. Instead of offering a fresh perspective, it basically took the same approach as the DVD box set that was released a few years back. This episode also relied on commentary that is many years old.

My question after watching the first three episodes is simple: Where do they go from here? At the end of episode three, they were already to the end of the Attitude Era and discussed the acquisition of WCW, basically glossing over the entire feud in a little less than an hour.

Charlotte To WWE Main Roster Soon?, Ric Flair’s Regular WWE TV Role, More

    – WWE and Rogers Communications in Canada decided to include a small archive of content on the WWE Network due to the fact that the launch was rushed so that the company could improve their subscription numbers between now and the end of the year.

    – There is talk of having Bayley defeat Charlotte for the NXT Women’s Championship at the upcoming NXT Takeover 2 special. The idea behind this is to get the belt off of Charlotte so that she can be called up to the main roster, which would also give Ric Flair a regular role on WWE television.

  • Backstage News On How SmackDown Changing Nights Affects Other WWE Shows

As things stand right now, there is no official word from WWE as to how SmackDown moving to Thursday nights will affect the airing of the show in international markets.

The belief is that SmackDown in Canada will move to Thursday nights as well. Countries such as Australia and the United Kingdom have been getting SmackDown almost a day early and that may no longer be the case due to timing.

It’s also believed that due to the SmackDown time slot change, NXT, Superstars and WWE Network shows such as Legends House season two will be moved to a different night. Early speculation is that those shows would be moved to Wednesday nights.

  • WWE Drops Plans To Bring Back Tough Enough On The WWE Network

Back in July, it was reported that WWE was planning on filming a new season of their old reality show — Tough Enough — at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Eventually, those plans were delayed due to budget cuts stemming from financial issues regarding the launch of the WWE Network.

In the latest update regarding Tough Enough, the most recent talk was that the company was going to shoot the new season in the fall, however in recent weeks there have been no discussions about filming the show at all.

The budget for the return of Tough Enough was said to be greatly reduced this past week and then later on, plans to bring back the show were dropped altogether.

There is no definitive word as to whether or not WWE still intends on bringing back the reality show concept on the WWE Network in the future, however as things stand now, there are no plans for the show to return.

  • WWE Main Event Results – August 26, 2014

The following are results for this week’s edition of WWE Main Event, which aired live on the WWE Network on Tuesday, August 26, 2014.

The Main Event opening montage started the show… Rob Van Dam made his entrance as Michael Cole and Byron Saxton checked in on commentary. Seth Rollins made his entrance. As he was walking to the ring, footage was shown from Raw of his interaction with Roman Reigns…

    1. Rob Van Dam vs. Seth Rollins. Rollins put the Money in the Bank briefcase in the corner. RVD caught Rollins with a nice kick, then pointed at himself, allowing Rollins to attack him from behind. RVD came back with another good kick and clotheslined Rollins to ringside. RVD stood on the second rope and pointed at himself and then dove onto Rollins on the floor.

RVD went to ringside and rolled Rollins back inside the ring. Rollins rolled out again. RVD went after him and Rollins caught him with a clothesline heading into the commercial break. [C] Rollins remained in control coming out of the break and slowed down the pace by working over RVD’s arm.

RVD came back and performed Rolling Thunder for a two count. He went to the top rope, but Rollins caught him and shoved him off, causing Van Dam to bump face first into the barricade. Rollins counted along with the referee and celebrated when he thought he won, but RVD made it back inside the ring at the last moment. A short time later, RVD reversed a Rollins’ toss attempt and threw him into the timekeeper’s area. Rollins was counted out as RVD counted along… [C]

Rob Van Dam defeated Seth Rollins via count out in 10:30.

Footage aired from earlier in the day of Adam Rose and the Rosebuds doing their thing backstage. Rose said he was sorry to hear about Ryback. He told Axel there’s always room for him on the Exotic Express. Axel said he would never join the freaks. Rose said Axel is a lemon and he will make lemonade…

    2. Adam Rose vs. Curtis Axel. The Rosebuds and Rose danced their way to the ring, and the posse watched the match from ringside. Saxton said he partied on the Exotic Express. I believe used the words “backdoor lollipop” to describe his time on the bus, but hopefully I’m mistaken. Hey, to each his own, of course.

Axel connected with a nice dropkick. He was distracted by the Rosebuds and told them to shut up. Rose came back with a spinebuster. Axel avoided the Party Foul once, but Rose hit his finisher seconds later for the win… [C]

Adam Rose beat Curtis Axel in 4:55.

A WWE Network commercial aired and then Cole and Saxton spoke about it briefly and then set up a Raw Rebound video package that focussed on John Cena and Brock Lesnar… Los Matadores were shown backstage. Cole said they would face Goldust and Stardust after the break… [C]

Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt was announced for Friday’s Smackdown television show while that tired Smackdown theme song played… Entrances for the tag match took place…

    3. Goldust and Stardust vs. Los Matadores (w/El Torito). Footage from Raw of Goldust and Stardust attacking The Uso Brothers was shown. Goldust and Stardust got the better of the match for the first five minutes heading into the break. [C] After the break, Stardust and Diego (guessing) traded sleeper holds, then ran the ropes and knocked each other down, which led to both men making tags.

There was an odd spot where Goldust went for a clothesline that it looked like Fernando (guessing) ducked, but then Fernando got to the ropes and stopped to sell it. The broadcast team said it just grazed him but it was still effective. A short time later, Stardust tagged in and got the pin for his team. After the match, Stardust grabbed Torito and threw him to the floor…

Goldust and Stardust defeated Los Matadores in 9:35.

It is believed that we will see some hints towards the direction heading into WrestleMania 31 at Sunday night’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view.

If Brock Lesnar wins the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from John Cena, the belief is that he will remain champion until next year’s WrestleMania, where it is expected that he will drop it to Roman Reigns, resulting in the climax of Reigns’ push as WWE’s new top Superstar.

Another key to Sunday’s show is that WWE needs a strong build coming out of the event and heading into Night Of Champions, because many of the initial six-month WWE Network subscriptions are set to expire in September, so WWE will need to give a strong incentive for fans to re-subscribe.
