Pat Patterson “Coming Out” Makes Mainstream Headlines

While it wasn’t a shock to anyone in the pro wrestling world, Pat Patterson’s revelation that he is gay on the season finale of “Legends House” got a lot of mainstream media attention.

The news made headlines on celebrity-gossip website TMZ, where the website claimed that Patterson “explained that he’s been keeping the secret out of the public eye for 5 decades … and had a partner for roughly 40 years, but he passed away after suffering a heart attack.”

Kudos to Pat Patterson for coming out publicly.

WWE Surveys Fans About Week-Long Network Programming: Randy Savage, CM Punk, Sting & More

WWE sent out another Fan Council survey on Thursday, asking fans which Superstars they want to see have week-long programming on the WWE Network and what type of WWE fan watches certain WWE Network shows:

WWE Looks At Potential “Paul Heyman Guys,” Countdown/WM Rewind News

– The next edition of WrestleMania Rewind, which airs next Tuesday night on the WWE Network, will look back at the Eddie Guerrero vs. Kurt Angle match from WrestleMania 20.

– The next edition of WWE Countdown, which also airs on Tuesday night on the WWE Network, the subject of the show will be the top ten “most dangerous Divas” of all-time.

– The latest edition of the WWE YouTube series, “5 Things” features a look at five potential “Paul Heyman Guys.” You can check that out below.

    – Seth Rollins tagged with his new Evolution partner Randy Orton against Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose at Saturday night’s WWE live event from Las Cruces, New Mexico. Reigns and Ambrose won by disqualification and as you can image, Rollins got nuclear heat from the crowd.

    – WWE.com acknowledged Tamina Snuka’s recent knee surgery to repair her ACL and meniscus. Typical recovery time for that procedure is 3-6 months.

    – The “Summer TV Preview” issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine listed the WWE Network as #10 of their “Must List.” The article stated:

    “The expanding archive features almost every show the company has ever run. Finally, Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 3 in 1987 and Chyna’s title victory at No Mercy 1999 are never more than a few clicks away.”

    WWE Letting Talent Contracts Expire, Henry vs. Rusev At MITB?, WrestleMania Rewind

    – There is a feeling among many within WWE that as a way to downplay controversy and negative feelings when talent leaves the company, that instead of announcing releases, they will simply let their contracts expire.

    – There has been some talk in WWE about a possible Mark Henry vs. Rusev match at the upcoming Money In The Bank pay-per-view.

    – The next edition of WrestleMania Rewind, which airs next Tuesday on the WWE Network, will look back at the WrestleMania 23 match between Shawn Michaels and John Cena.

  • WWE Offering Father’s Day Deal For Annual WWE Network Subscription

    After recently offering a free merchandise special to entice fans into subscribing to the WWE Network, WWE has come up with another promotional offer.

    WWE is offering a deal on an annual subscription to the WWE Network as part of their Father’s Day special promotion. “Get one year of WWE Network for $119.88,” reads the ad that the company sent out. “That’s less than $10 per month.”

  • Backstage Update On WWE Tough Enough Returning: Filming, Timing Issues

    According to recent reports, things are said to be moving slowly in regards to the return of WWE’s “Tough Enough” reality a show, a program that the company noted would be part of the WWE Network package in the near future.

    Filming for the show was reportedly supposed to begin during the first week of July at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, however it is being said now that the date could be pushed back.

    Additionally, key talent WWE has under consideration for cast members of the show are not locked in yet and timing is starting to become an issue.

  • Details On When Legends House Will End, News On Legends House Reunion Show

    It was first reported back in 2012 when WWE was in the early stages of developing the WWE Network that their “Legends House” reality show would be ten episodes long. If that is still true today, that would mean that the season finale would be only two weeks away, airing on June 19th, as episode number eight is scheduled to air this Thursday night.

    Back in January, we reported that the cast of Legends House traveled to Orlando, Florida to film additional footage for the show. We do know that the crew filmed a reunion of some sorts, but as far as the actual regular season is concerned, it’s looking like it will wrap up by the end of this month.

    WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels has commented on why he has not come out of retirement since wrestling his final match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26. In a new documentary airing on the WWE Network spotlighting his classic WrestleMania 25 match against the Dead Man Michaels said,

    “To have the WrestleMania 25 match and honestly sit there like two old gunslingers and think, ‘There’s no better way for this to go.’ And being at a maturity level where we can look at each other, appreciate each other, appreciate the changes in each other, appreciate everything about this job and how long we’ve done it and everything we’ve been through,” Michaels said.

    “But, as two company figures who have been here the longest – somewhat together – and seen a lot come and go, that’s special. That’s why it’s always been easy for me to not desire to come back and not do it again.”

    “I’ve never done a perfect thing in my life, but I am at least wise enough to know those things that I’ve done that shouldn’t be messed with.”

    First MITB Qualifier Revealed, Most Watched WWE Network Shows For 5/26-6/1

    – Alberto Del Rio became the first person to officially qualify for the WWE Money In The Bank ladder match this year. Del Rio advanced to the match, which as noted may be for a the WWE World Heavyweight Championship depending on Daniel Bryan’s status, by defeating Dolph Ziggler at Monday’s RAW.

    Spoilers For June 5, 2014:

    – Mojo Rawley kicks off NXT and gets everyone hyped. Aiden English sings and gets beat with Mojo’s finisher in a fairly quick match.

    – Bayley comes out and gives her bandana to one of the Special Olympic athletes at ringside. NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte comes out for a match. Charlotte gets the win with Bow Down to the Queen after Summer Rae returned to NXT and distracted Bayley. Sasha Banks, Summer and Charlotte beat down Bayley until Emma and Paige made the save.

    – Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger defeated two indie wrestlers from FIP.

    – CJ Parker came out with more Earth friendly signs in protest.

    – Tyler Breeze comes out for an in-ring segment and talks about beating Sami Zayn to become the new #1 contender. Breeze promises he will be the new NXT Champion when he gets his shot against Adrian Neville. Breeze shows us a music video he had made which is a compilation of his greatest entrances.

    – Adrian Neville defeated Justin Gabriel. After the match, Tyson Kidd came out and apologized for his actions at Takeover. They shook hands and agree to a rematch at a future date that isn’t announced.

    Spoilers For June 12, 2014

    – Bayley, Emma and Paige defeated Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Summer Rae. The BFF’s argued from the time they came out to the stage. They argued all during the match, allowing Bayley to get the pin on Charlotte. The problems continued after the match as Charlotte and Sasha argued to the back. Summer ended up staying at ringside and taking photos with fans.

    – More protesting from CJ Parker.

    – Big Cass defeated Sylvester Lefort.

    – Bo Dallas comes out under a mask and he’s called Mr. NXT. Sami Zayn comes out and exposes him. After Sami wins the match, he calls for security to escort Bo out of the arena since he was banned from NXT previously. Bo runs around the arena but security catches up with him. Bo begs for someone’s help but they take him away.

    – Adrian Neville defeated Tyson Kidd with the NXT Title on the line. Natalya was at ringside. Kidd won the match at one point but the referee didn’t see Neville’s foot on the bottom rope and the match was re-started. The end came when Kidd grabbed a steel chair from Natalya but got caught with a heel kick and Red Arrow. Kidd walked away from Natalya after the match.

    Spoilers For June 19, 2014

    – There’s an off-camera segment with Bo Dallas running around asking for help from security.

    – Alexa Bliss defeated Sasha Banks. Charlotte and Summer Rae were at ringside with Sasha. Sasha lost when there was more arguing among the BFF’s.

    – Mojo Rawley defeated Garrett Dylan.

    – “The Vaudevillians” Aiden English and Simon Gotch defeated Travis Tyler and Angelo Dawkins.

    – Tyler Breeze defeated Kalisto.

    – The Ascension defeated Sami Zayn and Tyson Kidd with the NXT Tag Team Titles on the line. Sami got hit with Fall of Man after Kidd walked out on him.

    Spoilers For June 26, 2014

    – The Vaudevillians defeated two unknown wrestlers.

    – CJ Parker comes back out with more Earth friendly signs in protest.

    – Bull Dempsey defeated Xavier Woods. Dempsey took the mic and said the business used to be dominated by brawler guys like him. He said he’s the last of a dying breed.

    – Becky Lynch defeated Summer Rae when she was distracted by Sasha and Charlotte arguing at ringside.

    – Big Cass defeated Sawyer Fulton in a squash match. After the match, Marcus Louis and Sylvester Lefort came out and beat Cass down. Enzo Amore made his return and made the save for Cass. Enzo cut an awesome promo and the crowd was all into it. Cass and Enzo did their schtick and left to a new theme song.

    – Tyler Breeze is out next for commentary. Rob Van Dam vs. Adrian Neville in a non-title match is next. Neville gets the win with the Red Arrow. Breeze and Neville stare each other down after the match.

    The night before, a special “NXT Takeover Preview” show will air on the WWE Network at 10pm (EST). Hosted by Renee Young, the show will feature interviews with WWE Hall of Famers Ric Flair and Bret Hart, previewing the NXT Women’s title match between Charlotte and Natalya.

    Prior to Thursday’s big 2-hour event, there will be a 30-minute pre-show show on the WWE Network.

    It’s also been announced that NXT Takeover will then kick off with Adam Rose and the Exotic Express.

    Triple H To Host Conference Call, Former WWE Superstar In Jersey Shore Movie

    – Triple H will be hosting a conference call on Wednesday to promote Thursday’s NXT Takeover special on the WWE Network.

    – Former WWE Superstar Romeo Roselli will be playing one of the main characters in “Jersey Shore Massacre,” which is scheduled to hit theaters in late-August.

  • WWE Network To Show Commercials? Identity Of Alicia Fox’s Wedgie Recipient

    – In light of WWE’s ongoing financial troubles and the company’s efforts to make the WWE Network profitable, Chief Strategy & Financial Officer George Barrios recently stated that we might see advertisements on the Network soon.

    According to industry sources, ads could begin popping up on the WWE Network as early as the first quarter of 2015. As previously reported, there has also been some discussion about increasing the monthly subscription cost to bring in additional revenue.

    – The ringside timekeeper who got a ‘wedgie’ from Alicia Fox last night on RAW was Berkley Ottman, son of former WWE Superstar Fred “Tugboat/Typhoon” Ottman.

    SmackDown & Main Event Previews, Maddox Fired, WWE Network News

    – WWE will tape this week’s episodes of Main Event and SmackDown tonight from the Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA.

    On Main Event, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper will challenge WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos in a non-title match. On SmackDown, we’ll see a Champion vs. Champion match, with US Champion Sheamus facing Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett.

    WWE legends Ric Flair and Scott Hall are expected to attend the tapings, with Flair rumored to be making his TV return on SmackDown.

    – RAW General Manager Brad Maddox was fired on RAW by The Authority after being destroyed by Kane. Maddox had been on on-air authority figure for over two years.

    WWE Stock News, Hornswoggle Celebrates 8 Years With WWE & More

    – In light of WWE’s stock dropping to $11 per share, there have been some analysts suggesting that WWE should take the company private again. Most people in WWE are against the idea, feeling that being a public company gives them mainstream legitimacy.
