Betting Odds For WWE Payback

The card for Sunday’s (August 30, 2020) WWE Payback pay-per-view event has been finalized, which means the final odds are out.

The company hasn’t officially announced the main event of this event that takes place in Orlando, Florida at the Amway Center and will air on the WWE Network but it will most likely be WWE Universal Champion Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman.

This will be a No Holds Barred Triple Threat Match and the first match involving Reigns in months. Reigns is actually the favorite to win the championship.

As a reminder, we will be providing coverage of this special on Sunday evening starting at 6 PM EST. The favorites are listed with (-). Here are the final betting odds for the show:

NXT Will Air On Tuesday For The Next 2 Weeks, AEW Returns To Wednesday

Updated Card for WWE Payback (New Match)

A new match has been announced for the WWE  Payback PPV this Sunday.

Baron Corbin vs. Matt Riddle in a singles match has been booked as the two stars have been feuding for several weeks now.

During Friday’s episode of SmackDown, Riddle came to the ring to call Corbin out for a fight. Corbin distracted Riddle and allowed Shorty G to attack him from behind. This led to Corbin accepting a match on behalf of G. Riddle easily picked up the win.

Post-match, Corbin tried to attack him, but Riddle sent him retreating. In an interview after the match, Corbin cut a promo about how bad he’s going to destroy Riddle on Sunday as a way to prove that he doesn’t belong in this kingdom.

Updated WWE Payback Card

  • WWE Universal Champion Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman – No Holds Barred Triple Threat Match
  • Keith Lee vs. Randy Orton
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Bayley & Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler

WWE No Longer Has Clear Direction For WrestleMania 37 Main Event

WWE Payback: 4 Matches Set For Sunday’s PPV

With only a week of gap between SummerSlam and Payback, it was inevitable that WWE would book several matches for the short-notice PPV on this week’s episode of Raw.

That expectation was realized as WWE announced three title matches (and Keith Lee’s main roster debut) Monday night at the ThunderDome.

The first match which was announced earlier was the return bout for Roman Reigns who will be involved in a triple threat match against Braun Strowman and ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt for the Universal Championship.

The company has also announced a United States title match between Apollo Crews and Bobby Lashley and a rematch between Randy Orton and Keith Lee for the Payback PPV after their bout on Raw ended in a disqualification.

Though probably the most surprising match which was announced is for the Women’s Tag Team Championships.

It will see the current champions Bayley and Sasha Banks defending their titles against the unlikely team of Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler.

This match was put together after Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler had several interactions during the show and Jax managed to convince the former NXT Women’s Champion that they can win the tag titles together.

WWE Payback Card

The Payback PPV will be taking place this Sunday, August 30 from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. You can check out the current standing match card for the event below:

  • Singles Match: Randy Orton vs. Keith Lee

Roman Reigns’ First Match In Months Set For WWE Payback

Just a day after making his return to WWE programming, Roman Reigns has his first match back booked.

On Monday evening, WWE confirmed that Reigns will battle Braun Strowman and newly crowned Universal Champion Bray Wyatt in a Triple Threat Match at the upcoming Payback pay-per-view event. It should be noted that WWE did mention that Wyatt would be portraying his Fiend character and not the FireFly Fun House version.

WWE wrote in a tweet on Twitter, “BREAKING: #TheBigDog @WWERomanReigns is BACK, and he’ll challenge #TheFiend @WWEBrayWyatt AND #TheMonster @BraunStrowman in a #TripleThreat Match for the #UniversalTitle THIS SUNDAY at #WWEPayback!”

This comes after Reigns returned after the main event of Sunday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event. Wyatt had beaten Strowman in a Falls Count Anywhere Match.

After the match, Reigns made a surprise appearance by not only spearing The Fiend but also Strowman in addition to whacking Strowman several times with a chair.

Reigns was supposed to challenge Goldberg for the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 36 – Night 1. That all changed as Reigns had announced his decision to pull out of the contest.

Before SummerSlam, Reigns has not been mentioned on WWE TV since that March 27 episode.

WWE holds the Payback pay-per-view event on Sunday, August 30, 2020 in Orlando, Florida at the Amway Center.

Update On SummerSlam Location, WWE Reviving PPV Theme For Next Month

Not only is WWE holding its SummerSlam pay-per-view event next month but will be hosting a second show just one week after it.

Pwinsider.com has updates on these two events. First up is SummerSlam, which had been reported to potentially be held at an outdoor location with the idea of having some fans in attendance.

There was even some talk of holding the show on a beach or a ship or at a location in the northeast. Per the new report, Summerslam is scheduled to take place at the WWE Performance Center.

WrestleVotes reported that WWE was hoping to finalize plans for SummerSlam and its location on Friday. It should be noted that WWE has yet to confirm where the event will take place after announcing that it had nixed its original plans to hold it in Boston at the TD Garden Arena.

WrestleVotes was the first to report that WWE’s internal calendar was updated to reflect that the company will broadcast WWE Payback on Sunday, August 30th.

Pwinsider has confirmed the report and added that it will also take place from the WWE Performance Center. WWE utilized the Payback PPV title from 2013 through 2017.

Cruiserweight Ring Changeover At Payback (Video), Zack Ryder On 10 Years In WWE

Cruiserweight Ring Changeover Last Night At WWE Payback

Last night at WWE Payback, Neville defended his Cruiserweight Championship against Austin Aries. WWE’s production crew had to change the ring for a Cruiserweight division match and finished just as Neville was at the bottom of the entrance ramp. A reddit user posted a video of the ring changeover and synced it up with the footage from Payback.

Zack Ryder Comments On 10 Years With WWE

WWE Superstar Zack Ryder is currently out of action with a knee injury that he suffered back in December. Ryder is remaining active and working his way towards his return to the ring. Ryder took to Twitter today and stated that he made his debut in WWE 10 years ago today.

Back in the ring, Jericho went for the Walls of Jericho but Owens avoided. Jericho hit Owens with a kick to the side of the head for a two count. Jericho trapped Owens in the corner and hit him with a series of chops. Owens connected with a massive kick to Jericho’s face for a two count. Jericho went for a Lionsault but Owens got his knees up. Owens then hit another Cannonball while Jericho was in the corner. Owens went for a Pop-Up Powerbomb but Jericho countered it into the Walls of Jericho in the middle of the ring. Owens placed his index finger on the bottom rope and the hold was broken.

Jericho became frustrated and started stomping on Owens’ hand. Jericho then slammed Owens’ hand into the steel steps outside the ring. Jericho then trapped Owens’ hand behind the steps and then kicked the steps. Owens rolled back into the ring and started screaming in pain. The official got in Jericho’s way when he tried to attack Owens and Owens poked Jericho in the eye. Owens went for another Pop-Up Powerbomb but Owens couldn’t hit because his hand was in too much pain. Jericho then applied the Walls of Jericho in the middle of the ring and Owens had no choice but to tap out. Jericho is the new United States Champion and is also the newest member of the SmackDown roster.

After the match, Jericho wrote Kevin Owens’ name on a fan’s list at ringside.

Winner & New United States Champion: Chris Jericho

Reaction: Well, I thought Owens was going to win this one and retain. It has been rumored for a while now that Jericho’s current WWE run is coming to an end soon. I wouldn’t be surprised if Owens invokes his rematch clause on SmackDown Tuesday night. The match itself was very entertaining and was a great way to start off WWE Payback.

Cruiserweight Championship: Neville (c) vs Austin Aries

Aries controlled the match early and connected with a Dropkick. Neville rolled to the ring apron to try and regroup. Aries laid across the top rope and mocked Neville. Aries knocked Neville out of the ring and connected with a Crossbody that knocked Neville to the floor. Back in the ring, Aries climbed to the top rope but Neville Dropkicked the ropes and Aries fell to the mat. Neville stomped on Aries in the corner and then launched him into the turnbuckle.

Neville climbed to the top rope and hit Aries with a Dropkick for a two count. Neville taunted the crowd and Aries hit him from behind and Neville fell out of the ring. Neville got back up to the ring apron but Aries slammed his head into the turnbuckle. Aries hit Neville a coupe of chops and then hit with with an elbow on the mat. Aries climbed to the second rope and hit Neville with an elbow to the back. Aries then planted with a Neckbreaker across the second rope and Neville once again fell out of the ring. Aries connected with a Suicide Dive and brought Neville back in the ring. Aries went for a pinfall but Neville kicked out at two.

Aries tried to apply the Last Chancery but Neville caught him and connected with a Jawbreaker. Aries went for the Discus Fivearm but Neville avoided it. Aries knocked Neville to the mat and climbed back up to the top turnbuckle. Neville joined him there but Aries hit him with a Sunset Flip Powerbomb. Aries applied the Last Chancery in the the middle of the ring. Neville grabbed the official and threw him into Aries. The referee then disqualified Neville. Aries won the match but Neville retained his title.

Winner via DQ: Austin Aries

Reaction: This match was solid. Aries will certainly get another shot at Neville in the future.

RAW Tag Team Championship Match: The Hardy Boyz (c) vs Cesaro & Sheamus

Matt Hardy and Cesaro started off the match. Matt Hardy took control and tagged in Jeff Hardy. Matt and Jeff took turns beating down Cesaro for the next couple of minutes. Jeff Hardy hit Cesaro with Poetry in Motion in the corner. Matt Hardy then got back in the match and Cesaro hit him with an uppercut. Sheamus was tagged in and he planted Matt Hardy with a Rolling Senton for a two count. Cesaro was then tagged in and he launched Matt into the corner and hit him with an uppercut for a two count. Matt was then isolated in the corner and Sheamus leveled him with a Clothesline.

Matt was finally able to tag in Jeff Hardy. Jeff connected with an inverted Atomic Drop and then applied an Arm Bar to Sheamus. Sheamus launched Jeff out of the ring and tagged in Cesaro. Cesaro brought Jeff back in the ring and slammed him to the mat. Sheamus was then tagged and continued to beatdown Jeff Hardy. Sheamus climbed to the second rope and connected with a knee to Jeff’s chest. Cesaro got back in the match and connected with a Leg Drop. Jeff Hardy flipped off the top rope onto Sheamus and Cesaro. Jeff was finally able to tag in Matt Hardy and he slammed Cesaro’s head into the top turnbuckle several times.

Matt planted Cesaro with a Running Bulldog for a two count. Matt then climbed to the second rope and connected with an elbow to Cesaro’s back. Matt hit the Side Effect but Sheamus broke up the pinfall. Jeff Hardy knocked Sheamus out of the ring and then hit a Crossbody onto him and both Superstars fell to the floor. Back in the ring, Matt Hardy went for a Moonsault off the top rope but Cesaro rolled out of the way. Cesaro hit a springboard uppercut and then locked Matt in the Cesaro Swing. Cesaro then applied the Sharpshooter but Matt was able to reach the bottom rope.

Sheamus threw Jeff into the barricade outside the ring. Sheamus was then tagged in and he planted Matt Hardy with the White Noise off the second rope. Sheamus went for the pinfall but Jeff Hardy broke it up. Jeff then threw Cesaro over the barricade outside the ring. Back in the ring, Sheamus hit Matt with a DDT for a two count. Jeff was then tagged in but Sheamus didn’t notice it. Sheamus slammed Matt Hardy to the mat and went for a pinfall. Jeff Hardy climbed to the top turnbuckle and hit the Swanton Bomb onto Sheamus’ back for the pinfall victory.

After the match, the two teams shook hands once again. Matt and Jeff then started posing with the titles and Sheamus & Cesaro attacked them from behind. Sheamus hit Jeff Hardy with a Brogue Kick and Jeff Hardy went flying into the ring post. Cesaro then held up Matt Hardy and Sheamus hit him with a Brogue Kick. Cesaro and Sheamus then raised the RAW Tag Team Championships in the ring.

Winners & Still RAW Tag Team Champions: The Hardy Boyz

Reaction: The first three matches of WWE Payback were all very entertaining. Jeff Hardy appeared to lose a tooth or two during the RAW Tag Team Championship match. The attack after the match by Sheamus and Cesaro was also great. I hope this rivalry continues tomorrow night on RAW.

Braun Strowman cut a promo about Roman Reigns backstage. Strowman stated that Reigns was a wounded animal and that he will put him out of his misery later tonight.

RAW Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs Alexa Bliss

Bayley’s hometown crowd gave her a big ovation. Bayley controlled the match early and Alexa kept trying to avoid her. Bayley slammed Alexa to the mat and then connected with a knee to the face. Alexa rolled out of the ring and shouted at the San Jose crowd. Bayley connected with a Dropkick to Alexa’s knee and the action returned to the ring. Bayley bounced Alexa’s head off the top turnbuckle six times and Bliss fell to the mat. Bayley charged at Alexa but Bliss punched her in the face.

Bliss then took control of the match and applied a Chinlock to Bayley in the middle of the ring. The crowd cheered Bayley on as she broke the hold. Alexa slammed Bayley’s head into the second rope and then kicked her in the back. Bayley then stood on Bayley’s back and pulled Bayley’s hair. The referee started his count to five and Alexa counted along and released Bayley at four. Bliss knocked Bayley to the mat once again with a Clothesline. Alexa then once again stood on Bayley’s back and head. Alexa kicked Bayley out of the ring and taunted her.

Bliss followed Bayley out of the ring and slammed Bayley’s head into the ring apron. The action returned to the ring and Bayley Clotheslined Bliss to the mat. Bayley connected with a Suplex and then elbowed Alexa in the back. Bayley hit a Suplex for a two count and then climbed to the second rope. Bayley hit a flying elbow and went for the Bayley to Belly but Alexa countered it and launched Bayley into the turnbuckle. Both Superstars traded punches on the top turnbuckle. Alexa hit a Sunset Flip Powerbomb for a two count.

Bayley planted Alexa with a running knee and once again climbed to the top rope. Bayley hit the Elbow Drop off the top rope but Alexa Bliss kicked out at two. Bayley stomped Alexa in the corner. Alexa then shoved Bayley into the LED ring post. Bliss followed it up with a DDT for the victory.

Winner & New RAW Women’s Champion: Alexa Bliss

Reaction: I didn’t see this one coming as well. I thought Alexa Bliss would become the RAW Women’s Champion somewhere down the line. It just seems pretty quick to take the title off of Bayley. I thought that there would be a title match between Bayley and Sasha Banks before that happened. Alexa Bliss is now the first woman to have held both the RAW Women’s Championship and SmackDown Women’s Championship. The match itself was also very good and Payback has been entertaining so far.

House of Horrors Match: Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton (Part 1)

Randy Orton arrived at a creepy looking house in a limo. The lights were flickering in an upstairs window as Orton stood outside the house. Orton slowly approached the house and arrived at the front door. Orton looked through the window and Bray Wyatt was staring at him from inside the house. Orton kicked down the door and went looking for Wyatt in the house. Wyatt attacked Orton from behind and slammed him into the wall.

Wyatt launched Orton into a lamp and it shattered. Wyatt welcomed Orton to hell and punched him in the face. The match then turned into an 80’s horror movie for a few minutes. Orton stumbled into a room with dolls of children hanging from the ceiling. Orton ripped one of the dolls down and Wyatt attacked him from behind.

Wyatt disappeared once again and Randy started throwing plates around. Orton then stumbled into a room that resembled Carcosa from True Detective. The “action” then entered the kitchen and Orton slammed into the cabinet. Orton then punched Bray in the head a few times and both Superstars fell to the kitchen floor. The words “we’re here” were written on the dirty refrigerator in the kitchen. Orton then grabbed a pan but Bray booted him right in the groin. Bray then slammed the fridge onto Orton. Bray then exited the house and screamed “follow the buzzards” while kneeling on the lawn. The house turned red and Bray crawled towards the limo. The limo driver then drove away as Bray Wyatt sang.

Reaction: For a match that took place in a crack house, this was still incredibly stupid. I was hoping that this would at least be creative. It wasn’t creative at all. Orton and Wyatt just fought in a creepy house. There was no appearance by the ghost of Sister Abigial. There was nothing shocking or wacky. It was just two men fighting in a house with dolls in it.

Samoa Joe vs Seth Rollins

Rollins controlled the match earlier and hit Joe with a Suicide Dive. Joe battled back and connected with a Suicide Dive of his own that knocked Rollins over the announce table. Back in the ring, Joe targeted his attack on Rollins’ injured knee. Joe then hit Rollins with a kick to the head for a two count. The crowd was completely dead for this match. It is hard to blame them as they just spent ten minutes watching two people fight in a house.

Rollins leaped off the top rope but Joe caught him and slammed him to the mat. Joe then applied a Knee Bar to Rollins in the middle of the ring. Rollins got out of the hold but Joe beat Rollins down for the next couple of minutes. Joe Powerbombed Rollins for a two count. Joe then applied the Texas Cloverleaf in the middle of the ring. Rollins was able to reach the bottom rope to break the hold. Seth battled back and hit the Falcon Arrow. Rollins followed it up with a Frog Splash off the top rope for a two count. Joe applied the Coquina Clutch but Rollins was able to roll through into a pinfall to win the match.

Winner: Seth Rollins

Reaction: The crowd was pretty much silent for this match. Rollins and Joe had the unfortunate task of trying to get the crowd excited following the House of Horrors match. They were not able to do so and the entire match fell flat. I don’t like what WWE is doing with Samoa Joe. He debuted in WWE and I thought he was going to be booked as a monster. Instead, he is hardly featured and is losing matches. I was looking forward to this match and I thought it was a pretty big letdown.

House of Horrors Match: Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton (Part 2)

Bray Wyatt was shown getting out of the limo and was wheezing. Wyatt stumbled down the entrance ramp with his lantern. Highlights of the riveting house brawl was shown as Wyatt took his time walking down to the ring. Orton raised his hand in the ring and Orton was behind him. Orton hit Bray with a chair and Bray rolled out of the ring. Orton hit Wyatt with a DDT off the announce table. Orton then struck Wyatt with the chair again.

The Singh Brothers attacked Orton from behind. Bray Wyatt went for a Sister Abigail but Orton countered it into an RKO. Jinder Mahal then struck Orton in the head with the WWE Championship he stole on SmackDown. Bray Wyatt then hit the Sister Abigail for the victory.

Winner: Bray Wyatt

Reaction: Everything about the House of Horrors match was predictably awful. Bray Wyatt got the victory but it took a ton of outside interference from Mahal and the Singh Brothers. Ultimately, this match did nothing for Bray Wyatt and I think his character is beyond repair at this point. I thought he was going to be something great in WWE and that doesn’t seem possible anymore. One could only hope that this was the end of the Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt feud. It started out great and then turned into a complete disaster.

Braun Strowman vs Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns came down to the ring and predictably he was bandaged up. Reigns hit a Clothesline off the steel steps outside the ring and knocked Strowman to the floor. Strowman fought back and threw Reigns into the barricade. Strowman then Chokeslammed Reigns onto the announce table and the action then returned to the ring. Braun then slammed Reigns into the turnbuckle and Reigns rolled out of the ring. Strowman followed Reigns out of the ring and slammed into the steel steps.

Back in the ring, Strowman Clotheslined Reigns to the mat. Strowman charged at Reigns in the corner but Roman got out of the way and Braun launched himself into the turnbuckle. Reigns went for the Superman Punch but Strowman caught him. Reigns planted Strowman with a Samoan Drop for a two count. Reigns Clotheslined Strowman out of the ring but both Superstars fell to the floor.

Reigns got to his feet and hit Strowman with a Drive By on the ring apron. Reigns then shoved Strowman into the ring post. Braun then charged at Reigns again and once again ran into the ring post as Roman rolled out of the way. Reigns and Strowman got back into the ring and Roman hit a Spear for a two count. Reigns hit two Superman Punches and went for another Spear but Strowman caught him. Strowman then planted Reigns with a Running Powerslam for a two count. Strowman then hit a second Running Powerslam for the victory.

After the match, Strowman brought the steel steps into the ring. The crowd chanted “thank you Strowman” as Braun lifted Reigns onto his shoulders. Strowman then dropped Reigns onto the steel steps. Strowman then lifted the steps again and slammed them into the ribs of Reigns. Braun then exited the ring as Reigns was bleeding from his mouth. Reigns stumbled his way to the announce table and refused to get on a stretcher. Reigns walked off under his own power as Payback went off the air.

Winner: Braun Strowman

Reaction: Reigns and Strowman put on a decent match to close out the show. It would have made no sense if Reigns won this match. Strowman looked like a monster and Reigns looked good because he put up a fight while dealing with injuries. It is looking like Strowman is in line to get a shot at Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship in the future.

In my opinion, WWE Payback 2017 sums up WWE perfectly. The show started off really well. The first four matches were very entertaining and then the show fell off a cliff. The House of Horrors match really derailed this show and sucked the life out of the crowd. Samoa Joe and Seth Rollins put on a subpar match in front of a crowd that simply didn’t care. WWE then doubled down on the House of Horrors match as Wyatt and Orton fought again in the ring. Bray Wyatt picked up a rather meaningless victory and once again the crowd didn’t care. Strowman and Reigns put on a solid match to close out the show.

WWE consistently takes a step forward and then almost always takes two steps back. At the very least, RAW should be interesting tomorrow night because of what is going to happen with Braun Strowman, and the Tag Team division. Roman Reigns missed several weeks because of Strowman’s attack on April 10th when he flipped over the ambulance. Reigns should spend the next few weeks selling the injuries he sustained tonight at Payback. Time will tell if that will be the case. Overall, Payback was a PPV that should have been great but the House of Horrors match really hurt the show.

WWE Payback 2017 Match Card & Predictions

WWE Payback 2017 will take place this Sunday at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. It is the first PPV after Wrestlemania 33.

Kickoff Show:

Miz TV with special guest Finn Balor

The Miz is currently in a feud with Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose. The Intercontinental Championship is not being defended on this show. I expect Ambrose to get involved in this segment and ruin it for The Miz.

Enzo & Big Cass vs Gallows & Anderson

Gallows and Anderson lost their RAW Tag Team Championships at Wrestlemania 33. They then lost their rematch for the titles to The Hardy Boyz the following night on RAW. Since then, Gallows and Anderson have been out of the title picture. Enzo and Cass haven’t been in the title picture since the Fatal 4-Way Ladder match at Wrestlemania 33.

Predicted Winners: Gallows & Anderson

Main Card:

Cruiserweight Championship: Neville (c) vs Austin Aries

Neville and Aries had a hard fought battle during the Wrestlemania 33 Kickoff Show. In the end, it was Neville that picked up the victory by hitting the Red Arrow. Neville has referred to himself as “the King of the Cruiserweight” ever since he won the Cruiserweight Championship. Austin Aries has been a thorn in Neville’s side the entire time and made a statement Tuesday night on 205 Live by locking Neville in The Last Chancery on the entrance ramp. I think Aries will capture his first title in WWE and defeat Neville to become the new Cruiserweight Champion at Packback. If Neville were to retain, it may be due to TJ Perkins showing up and costing Aries the match.

Predicted Winner & New Cruiserweight Champion: Austin Aries

RAW Tag Team Championship: The Hardy Boyz (c) vs Sheamus & Cesaro

In the past two weeks, Jeff Hardy has defeated Cesaro and Matt Hardy has defeated Sheamus. After each match, the two teams shook hands. On this past week’s episode of RAW, Matt Hardy seemed rather reluctant to shake Sheamus’ hand. Sheamus unnecessarily shoved Jeff Hardy outside the ring during his match with Jeff Hardy. There is no reason to take the RAW Tag Titles off of Matt and Jeff right now. Matt and Jeff win and Sheamus and Cesaro get pissed off. Sheamus and Cesaro beatdown The Hardys after the match as the crowd boos them out of the building.

Predicted Winners & Still RAW Tag Team Champions: The Hardy Boyz

Seth Rollins vs Samoa Joe

Seth Rollins barely made it to Wrestlemania 33 after he sustained a knee injury during an attack from Samoa Joe. Rollins wound up defeating Triple H at Wrestlemania 33 and during that match, Stephanie McMahon also fell through a table. Samoa Joe was brought to WWE by Triple H to destroy people. Joe wants to beat the hell out of Rollins for embarrassing Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. I think this feud continue after Sunday’s PPV, so I see this one ending in a DQ. Joe attacks Rollins with a chair and is eventually taken out of the arena by WWE security. Rollins and Joe have stated that this feud has become personal. I’m guessing the hatred between the two Superstars will increase after Payback.

Winner via DQ: Seth Rollins

United States Championship: Kevin Owens (c) vs Chris Jericho

Owens and Jericho were best friends for a long time. That all came to an abrupt end when Owens attacked Jericho at the Festival of Friendship on WWE RAW. Jericho got his revenge by showing up right as Owens’ match with Goldberg at Fastlane began. Goldberg then quickly defeated Owens and captured the Universal Championship. Owens went on to defeat Jericho at Wrestlemania 33 and took the United States Championship from him.

Jericho is about to release a new record with his band Fozzy and his current run with WWE might be coming to an end. Owens and Jericho will put on a solid match, but Owens ultimately retains. Owens then turns his attention to AJ Styles on SmackDown and Jericho finishes up one of the better runs of his WWE career.

Predicted Winner & Still United States Champion: Kevin Owens

RAW Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss did whatever it took to remain at the top of the SmackDown women’s division. WWE’s Superstar Shake-Up brought Bliss to RAW and she immediately won a match to become #1 contender. Bliss tricked Bayley on this past week’s episode of RAW and attacked her from behind. Alexa Bliss will certainly become RAW Women’s Champion down the line, but I don’t think it will happen this Sunday. Bayley defeats Bliss with a Bayley to Belly to retain her title.

Predicted Winner & Still Raw Women’s Champion: Bayley

House of Horrors Match: Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt

It was one of the better feuds heading into Wrestlemania 33, but it wound up being one of the worst matches at the event. Randy Orton captured the WWE Championship from Bray Wyatt at Wrestlemania 33. In the weeks proceeding Wrestlemania 33, Orton burned down Bray Wyatt’s compound that contained the ashes of Sister Abigail. I’m guessing that most of this match will be pre-taped and then it will eventually make it’s way to the ring. There could be a Sister Abigail sighting, worms and goblins. I have no idea what to expect from this match.

Bray Wyatt was moved to RAW after the Superstar Shake-Up. This match was originally scheduled to be for the WWE Championship, but that is no longer the case. Wyatt concluded this past week’s episode of RAW by taking out Dean Ambrose and Jericho. Wyatt also hit a Sister Abigail on The Miz. Since it is no longer for the WWE Championship, Bray Wyatt should pick up the win at Payback. It won’t be by simply hitting Orton with a Sister Abigail. There will be some sort of interference or event that costs Orton the match. All I know is that I will have a smile on my face after this match because it will mark the end of this feud.

Predicted Winner: Bray Wyatt

Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman brutally attacked Roman Reigns on the April 10th episode of RAW. Reigns has not appeared on RAW since. With Reigns not being there, Strowman has been attacking random Superstars backstage. On this past week’s episode of RAW, Strowman lost to Kalisto in a Dumpster Match. Strowman then proceeded to beat the hell out of Kalisto, lock him in the dumpster and push the dumpster off the entrance ramp.

Reigns was interviewed by WWE.com about his brother’s passing and his plans for Strowman at WWE Payback. Reigns stated that he was physically and emotionally beat up. Reigns claimed that he has never experienced a beatdown like the one Strowman gave him a few weeks back. I have a feeling that the announcers during Payback this Sunday will continuously point out that Roman Reigns has still not recovered from the attack.

WWE spent a lot of time building Strowman up as a monster and there has yet to be a payoff. Strowman was barely a part of Wrestlemania 33 and was eliminated early in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. I’ve got to believe that Strowman will pick up the win in this match. Reigns will not be diminished in any way and WWE can play up the fact that Reigns is not at 100%. Strowman had a stare down with Brock Lesnar the night after Wrestlemania 33. WWE clearly wants to make Braun Strowman a star. The best way to do that is to give him a big win over Roman Reigns this Sunday at Payback.

Predicted Winner: Braun Strowman

Will Brock Lesnar Defend The Universal Championship At WWE Payback?

Even though Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman had a stare down last night on Monday Night Raw, Lesnar is currently not scheduled to appear on Raw for awhile. Strowman even stated in the promo last night that he will deal with Roman Reigns first and then turn his sights on Brock Lesnar. WWE Payback airs on April 30th and it was assumed that Lesnar would be on the show to defend the Universal Championship.

Lesnar is in the Payback promotional video WWE uploaded as you can see in the video below. As of now, the main event of WWE Payback is expected to be Braun Strowman versus Roman Reigns. Strowman and Reigns are scheduled for a series of matches at WWE live events leading up to Payback in four weeks. Lesnar is also not advertised for Raw after Payback. The next time Brock Lesnar is on Raw may not be until the May 8th episode which will be taped in London.

WWE Payback 2016 Reaction

Kickoff Show:

Baron Corbin vs Dolph Ziggler

This match was moved to the Kickoff show. For weeks, Corbin has been attacking Ziggler from behind and hitting the End of Days on him outside the ring. The general consensus was that Baron Corbin would dominate Ziggler and win this match. However, Ziggler stole a victory by rolling up Baron Corbin. I was expecting Corbin to flip out and attack Ziggler after the match, but that didn’t happen. He just stood in the ring shocked that he lost. The only possible way for this storyline to continue is for Corbin to attack Ziggler tomorrow night on Raw.

United States Championship Match: Ryback vs Kalisto(c)

Before the match, Ryback mocked CM Punk’s entrance, which the Chicago crowd absolutely hated. Ryback dominated the match early but came back and wound up getting the win via the Salida del Sol. This was surprising to me, I thought for sure Ryback would get the victory. It will be interesting to see who the WWE has in store to chase the United States Championship next. Ryback seems like a lost cause, unless the WWE puts him in the main-event scene. That seems like a long-shot right now.

Main Card:

Tag Team #1 Contenders Tournament Finals: Enzo & Cass vs The Vaudevillians

The New Day took in this match outside the ring while enjoying pizza and popcorn. It quickly turned into a really serious situation where Enzo got injured. At first I thought it was part of the show because they cut to a camera that was extremely close to Enzo and they showed the replay several times. However, it became abundantly clear that this was a real injury and the match was declared over.

Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn

This was a terrible spot to be put in because the crowd was pretty much taken out of the show for a bit due to the Enzo injury. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn completely saved the show and got the crowd back into it by putting on an incredible match. It was back and forth the entire time and the crowd broke out the “Yes!” chant when both performers were down just to show how much they were enjoying the match. Kevin Owens got the victory over Sami Zayn.

After the match, Kevin Owens says he wants his Intercontinental Championship back. He joined the announcer’s table for the Miz vs Cesaro match.

Intercontinental Championship Match: Cesaro vs The Miz (c)

While Kevin Owens was insulting Michael Cole and Byron Saxton, the Miz and Cesaro had a good match. The finish to the match was a wild one. Sami Zayn came back out to the ring and attacked Kevin Owens. Cesaro had the Miz in the swing for twenty rotations then locked him in the cross-face. The Miz tapped out but the referee was distracted due to Zayn and Owens fighting outside the ring. Cesaro jumped up to get the refs attention but the Miz rolled Cesaro up and held on to his tights for the victory. After the match, Cesaro attacked the Miz but was quickly kicked in the head by Owens. Kevin Owens then proceeded to beatdown everyone and then raised the Intercontinental Championship over his head.

After this match, one could assume that Sami Zayn, Cesaro and Kevin Owens will all be fighting to be the number one contender for the Miz’s belt.

Chris Jericho vs Dean Ambrose

Chris Jericho dominated a lot of this match but Dean Ambrose wouldn’t stay down. The previous two matches had worn the crowd out so they were quiet at the beginning at this match. However, the crowd got into the match towards the end. Dean Ambrose hit the Dirty Deeds on Jericho for the win. After the match, Jericho threw a fit and started kicking the steel stairs and throwing random things around.

Women’s Championship Match: Natalya vs Charlotte (c)

The crowd erupted when Bret Hart made his way to the ring. Natalya had made Charlotte tap out to the Sharpshooter a few times in previous weeks, but that was not the case tonight. Instead we had the 2016 version of the Montreal Screwjob, with referee Charles Robinson being the culprit. Charlotte got Natalya into the Sharpshooter and Charles Robinson called for the bell for no reason as Natalya did not tap out. Bret Hart locked the Sharpshooter in on Ric Flair and Natalya did the same on Charlotte. I’m sure on Monday Night Raw we will learn why Charles Robinson screwed the Harts over. The WWE Universe did not find out tonight as Charles Robinson quickly exited the arena. It is almost the fastest we’ve ever seen Charles Robinson move.

Vince McMahon Announces Who Will Be In Charge of Monday Night Raw

Before Vince could even say a word, the Chicago crowd greeted him with a very loud “CM Punk!” chant. Eventually, Stephanie McMahon and Shane McMahon joined Vince in the ring. The crowd clearly wanted Vince to announce Shane as the new Raw GM but that didn’t exactly happen. Instead, Vince said that they are both in charge from now on. There have been rumors of another brand-split but that doesn’t appear to be the case. They will both be in charge and I’m sure Monday Night Raw will be full of shenanigans tomorrow night.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: AJ Styles vs Roman Reigns (c)

Chicago is not a fan of Roman Reigns. It seems like no crowd likes Roman Reigns nowadays. Tonight, the crowd was chanting “Roman sucks!” all throughout the match. AJ Styles was getting cheered loudly. The match ended with AJ Styles hitting the Phenomenal Forearm and Roman Reigns got counted out. Thankfully, Shane McMahon came out and ordered the match to restart, but with no count-outs. Then Roman Reigns accidentally hit AJ Styles with a low-blow and Reigns was disqualified, but retained his title. However, Stephanie McMahon came out and announced the match will restart and it is now a no disqualification match.

Now that it was no disqualification, it left the door open for Gallows and Anderson to interfere. They came down and laid a beatdown on Roman Reigns which led to AJ Styles hitting another Phenomenal Forearm. Roman Reigns was able to get his foot on the rope which saved him from being pinned. The Usos came out and leveled the playing field by attacking Gallows and Anderson. Several more false-finishes followed between Styles and Reigns. In the end, it was Roman Reigns getting victory via the Spear.

After the match, it is announced by Shane and Stephanie McMahon that AJ Styles will get a rematch at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules in three weeks.

Final Thoughts: WWE Payback started out on a really scary note with Enzo getting injured. Later in the evening, it was revealed that he suffered a concussion and thankfully not something more severe. There were several great matches on the show and even though the main-event was clunky, it was still a very entertaining match. Once again, there was no Finn Balor debut, which has been speculated for the past week. What did you think of WWE Payback? Let us know in the comments below.

Enzo Amore Suffers Injury At WWE Payback

For those that watched WWE Payback live Sunday evening, Enzo Amore suffered a potentially-serious injury during the opening match of the pay-per-view.

The Vaudevillians were supposed to throw Amore underneath the bottom rope, but his neck and head hit the bottom rope and it appeared to snap his neck backwards. As soon as he hit the ground, Amore laid down without moving a muscle.

It only took WWE officials a few minutes to call the match immediately. Medical personnel hit the ring and immediately began treating Amore, while his tag-team partner, Big Cass, stood there hoping he was okay.

The latest update came straight from the WWE about 10-to-15 minutes after Amore was taken to the back.

Medical officials are now performing tests and Amore is able to move his arms and legs.

At this time, the injury isn’t serious, because there is truly no diagnosis. The fact that Amore can move his extremities and is able to talk is a great sign. Since that is the case, it’s unlikely any spinal damage was done. However, a concussion is a viable diagnosis.

Stay tuned with SE Scoops for the latest updates.

Finn Balor To Debut On Main Roster At WWE Payback?

According to inside sources, former-NXT champion Finn Balor is expected to make his WWE main roster debut at WWE Payback Sunday.

After Balor dropped the NXT Heavyweight championship at NXT Lowell to Samoa Joe, it was only a matter of time before Balor would make the jump to the main roster. These sources also correctly told us of Joe’s win before it even happened.

He is expected to debut, while Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson attack AJ Styles, causing him to beat Reigns by disqualification. As of this writing, there is no confirmation as to which side Balor will lean towards.

WWE Payback is emanating from Chicago, Illinois, which is a crowd to root against Reigns with all their might. Balor’s main roster debut has also been anticipated for over a year now.

Vince Russo Speaks On Roman Reigns’ Failed Push, ‘It’s All Vince McMahon Knows’

WrestleMania 32 brought out a new side of Roman Reigns. As soon as he won the WWE World Heavyweight championship, Reigns came out with the title and said that he wasn’t a good guy or bad guy, but the guy.

Much to the dismay of WWE fans all around the world, he continues to say it week-after-week.

Alongside Reigns’ new attitude came even more hatred from the WWE Universe. It was the first time since The Miz’s WWE title win at WrestleMania 27. Not even the Rock could save that match.

A lot consider Reigns’ push from the WWE to be a failure. One controversial figure agrees with that logic, as former-WWE employee Vince Russo says, “It’s all Vince McMahon,” while on the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Podcast.

“It’s Vince. In Vince’s mind, it’s Bruno. It’s Backlund. Look at his history. He’s done it over and over and over again . . . Kevin Nash was this killer who beat Bob Backlund in like 8 seconds in Madison Square Garden. I was the editor at the WWF Magazine at the time. Diesel wins the belt. The next thing I know, Vince wants a picture of him on the cover of the WWF Magazine smiling like a Cheshire cat. And I remember arguing with Vince at the time, saying ‘What are you doing? This is not the character.’ And Vince wanted the white bread babyface. From there, it was Shawn Michaels’ turn. I remember Vince had me write every single promo for Shawn when they did the house show promos. Vince wanted every single promo being that white bread babyface promo. And I sat there with Shawn for hours. And it was so difficult and hard for Shawn to do, because he wasn’t that guy.  After that it was the Rock. I’ll never forget. I was sitting in the office—me, The Rock and Vince— the day after The Rock won the title with that corporate swerve. And Vince is sitting there wanting him to go out and cut this white bread, babyface promo. And Rock kept looking at me like, ‘Is this guy serious?’ . . . Here we are with Roman Reigns 25, 30 years later. He’s doing the exact same thing, because Vince, at 70 years old, really believes that the 1970s philosophy is going to work today. . . It’s all he knows. He’s repeating it over and over again. And there’s nobody there with the balls to say, ‘Vince, this does not work in 2016.’”

That may be the most-accurate representation of Roman Reigns’ booking to date. Russo makes great points about the “white bread babyface” in the WWE. Until a few weeks up to WrestleMania, Reigns was making himself look foolish on the microphone.

He never had to pick up the mic to get over, but McMahon wanted it to happen.

Will Reigns’ style of booking change at WWE Payback? There are a lot of theories floating around that Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows will join Reigns. They are only theories, but something like that would give Roman Reigns a new dynamic that could work long-term.

WWE Monday Night Raw 4/25/2016 Reaction

The show opened up with Shane McMahon coming out to a huge reaction. He was quickly interrupted by Stephanie McMahon. This is the first time Stephanie has been on WWE programming since Wrestlemania. Stephanie says that this will be Shane’s last night running Monday Night Raw. It is revealed that this Sunday at WWE Payback, Vince McMahon will decide who will running Raw for the foreseeable future. However, Shane McMahon is still in charge tonight and had Stephanie McMahon escorted out of the ring by security. This was a good segment, but I think it would be more interesting if there was a match between Triple H and Shane McMahon for control of the company. That might be something that happens down the line.

Sheamus vs AJ Styles

This was a terrific opening match to the show that was given a ton of time. AJ Styles got the win via the Phenomenal Forearm. After the match, Anderson and Gallows came out to the top of the ramp and gave him AJ Styles a round of applause.

Roman Reigns was shown watching the this backstage. He was joined by the Usos who said they had his back if he needed them. The crowd was heavily booing all three of them and were also chanting “we can’t hear you!” during the segment.

The New Day, the Vaudevillians and Enzo and Cass were all in the ring. The Vaudevillians said that they will become the number one contenders at WWE Payback. Enzo Amore responded with and I quote, “I would like run down the beach into my own arms, but that is impossible”. The New Day says that no matter who wins at Payback, they will still be champions.

The Usos vs Anderson & Gallows

Jay Uso had a taped shoulder due to the attack by Anderson and Gallows last week. The entire match, Anderson and Gallows were targeting the shoulder. Jimmy Uso eventually got in the match but at that point, Jay Uso was taken out of it. Gallows and Anderson then took out Jimmy Uso for the win. After the match, Gallows and Anderson were beating down the Usos when Roman Reigns came out to help. Gallows and Anderson retreated.

Backstage, Anderson and Gallows assured AJ Styles they will not get involved in his match against Roman Reigns unless the Usos interfere. They claimed they just want to make sure it is a fair fight at WWE Payback.

Sami Zayn vs Rusev

This was a good match but the crowd was really quiet during it for some reason. Rusev dominated early, but Sami Zayn made a comeback. Sami Zayn wound up stealing a victory with a roll-up and Lana lost her mind outside the ring. She took off her heels and threw them at Sami Zayn. As Zayn was distracted, Kevin Owens came flying out from backstage and hit him in the back of the head. Kevin Owens stood over Zayn as the crowd booed. I cannot wait for their match at WWE Payback, has the potential to steal the show.

Renee Young was interviewing Apollo Crews backstage when they were interrupted by Stardust. Apollo Crews told Stardust how much his father, Dusty Rhodes, helped him in NXT. Dusty Rhodes game him the name “Apollo”. Stardust said that there are some people not even the great Dusty Rhodes can turn into a star.

Apollo Crews vs Stardust

The crowd was chanting “Cody!” throughout the match, trying to get under Stardust’s skin. This was another one-sided match with Apollo Crews getting the victory. The WWE is clearly building Crews up to be a star, I’m just waiting for them to have him in match that lasts more than a couple minutes.

Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho had a promo for their match at WWE Payback. It was highly entertaining with Jericho demanding that Dean Ambrose get on his knees and kiss his $1,500 shoes. Ambrose responded by making fun of Jericho’s “Bon Jovi” haircut. Chris Jericho got the upper-hand tonight and put Ambrose into the Walls of Jericho on top of the announce table.

Emma vs Natalya w/ Charlotte on Commentary

This was a quick match with Natalya getting the win over Emma. Natalya won by submission and was staring at Charlotte while she had the Sharpshooter locked in on Emma. Natalya will face Charlotte at WWE Payback for the Women’s Championship.

The WWE aired a video tribute to Chyna after women’s match.

Damien Sandow was supposed to have a match with Baron Corbin but Dolph Ziggler attacked Corbin from behind. Corbin had been attacking Ziggler for the past few weeks and Ziggler finally got a bit of revenge. Ziggler will face Baron Corbin at Payback this Sunday.

The Miz and Cesaro had another promo where they recited movie lines. Cesaro stated that at Payback he is going to make sure the credits roll on the Miz’s Intercontinental Championship reign. Cesaro wound up laying out the Miz with a gigantic upper-cut.

Roman Reigns vs Alberto Del Rio

Gallows and Anderson came out to distract Roman Reigns but it didn’t work. Reigns was still able to pick up the victory over Del Rio. After the match, Gallows and Anderson attacked Roman Reigns. AJ Styles came down to the ring and told them to stop, which led to Reigns hitting the Superman Punch on Styles. Gallows and Anderson began attacking Reigns again but he tossed them out of the ring, only to be hit with a Phenomenal Forearm. Raw ended with Gallows and Anderson laughing outside the ring and AJ Styles stressed out in the ring. The million dollar question is whether Gallows and Anderson will help AJ Styles or wind up costing him his chance at the title this Sunday at Payback. There were rumors all week that Finn Balor was going to make his WWE debut tonight on Raw, that did not happen.

Batista Reacts To #Bluetista: Calls WWE Fans “Genius Smarks” & “Dipsh*ts”

At Sunday night’s WWE Payback pay-per-view, Batista wore blue ring gear for Evolution’s main event elimination match against The Shield. The blue ring gear set of a flood of tweets referencing #Bluetista, with even WWE announcers acknowledging during the show that #Bluetista was trending worldwide.

Batista, who has been the subject of a great deal of ridicule from fans since returning to WWE earlier this year, was not too pleased that fans were so fixated on his ring gear. He tweeted on Monday:

Early Betting Odds For WWE Payback

The WWE’s top superstars will seek retribution at this Sunday’s Payback pay-per-view. Two rematches from last month’s Extreme Rules will highlight the card, with the Shield and Evolution meeting in a no-holds barred elimination match, and John Cena and Bray Wyatt meeting once again, this time in a last man standing match.

Here are my predictions for this Sunday’s event.

Hornswoggle vs. El Torito (Hair vs. Mask Match)

These two will once again square off on the pre-show. They actually put on a pretty entertaining match at last month’s event, but I’m afraid this one will suffer because there are no props involved. After some high-flying spots by El Torito to get the crowd pumped up, he will eventually pull off the victory and Hornswoggle’s beautiful mane will be no more.

    Winner: El Torito by pinfall

    Rusev vs. Big E

Since losing the Intercontinental Title, Big E has entered into a tailspin of sorts. He has lost a few bouts and has not been presented well since losing clean to Bad News Barrett last month.

He will not take a shot at ending Rusev’s undefeated streak. I expected both superstars to get a chance to show off their strength, and this should be Rusev’s longest bout on the main roster. Ultimately, Big E’s woes will continue and he will be forced to tap out to Rusev’s finisher, the Accolade.

    Winner: Rusev by submission

Paige (Divas Champion) vs. Alicia Fox

A divas championship match that actually has a bit of a backstory to it? I never thought I would see the day. Alicia Fox has been booked strong in recent weeks, picking up a clean win over Paige and destroying anything in her path (including ringside employees).

Fox will dominate this one for the most part, much like she did during their contest on Raw a few weeks back. She will eventually succumb to the champion after losing concentration and showboating, allowing for Paige to take advantage and pick up the win with her scorpion crosslock.

    Winner: Paige by submission

Sheamus (United States Champion) vs. Cesaro

This has the chance to be one of the best matches of the night. Both guys are good workers and they should be given a solid 10-15 minutes to show what they are capable of. Expect a number of near falls and high intensity action.

It seems as if a big push is in store for Cesaro, which would normally lead one to believe that he would slay the Jolly Green Ginger. That will not be the case, however, as there are much bigger plans in store for Cesaro than the United States Championship. Sheamus wins after hitting a Brogue Kick, and Cesaro gets ready to compete in next month’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

    Winner: Sheamus by pinfall

The advertised dark match main event between John Cena and Bray Wyatt did not take place.

John Cena & Bray Wyatt’s Feud, More On RAW Script Changes

    – John Cena’s feud with. Bray Wyatt feud is expected to continue for some time, past the June 1st WWE Payback pay-per-view.

    – Another independent wrestler that was part of Adam Rose’s entourage on RAW was “Portugal’s Perfect Athlete” Shanna, who was previously a TNA Gutcheck contestant.

    – As noted earlier, a version of the RAW script that was changed on Monday afternoon featured Daniel Bryan wrestling Batista instead of Kane. Another version had Batista wrestling Roman Reigns, with Reigns getting the victory. WWE announced on Monday afternoon that Evolution would be guest timekeepers during the Wyatt Family vs. The Shield main event, however that idea was nixed as well.
