Hulk Hogan Strongly Endorses Kevin Owens, Talks Tough Enough & WWE Performance Center

WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan recently spoke with Rolling Stone to promote tonight’s WWE Tough Enough premiere on the USA Network.  When asked about Tough Enough being an opportunity for average people to become WWE Superstars, Hogan said it’s a sign of how much times have changed since his days breaking into the business.

“If you would have told me ten years ago that this was an avenue to make it into this business, I would have said you were nuts,” Hogan said. “When I came up, it was riding in the car 2,000 miles a week, wrestling for 15 bucks a night, paying your dues and learning your craft on the road. But the Performance Center has turned out some of our top stars; it’s proven that this formula works, so I’m excited that I’ve been reeducated to find the next WWE Superstar or Diva.””

He said the WWE Performance Center is, “pretty hardcore, brother” and put over the world class training facility, the promo classes and the “one-stop shop” nature of it.

Hogan also gave a very strong endorsement to NXT Champion Kevin Owens.

“Kevin actually reminds me of one of the older wrestlers of the late Seventies, some of those guys that didn’t have the build, but they would scare you if you met them at a bar. What hooked me about him was that I was watching a match of his on NXT and I found myself disassociated with being in the moment, all of a sudden I started watching him and he made me believe again. I watched real close, and there were no holes in his boat – his punches, his kicks, everything he did looked like it was killing the guy, which it probably was. He caught me with my guard down and he made me a believer again, he hooked me. He’s got that look, man; that demeanor and that swagger.”

WWE Changes Plans For Potential WWE Performance Center Fantasy Camps For Fans

Back in August of 2014 it was reported that WWE was toying with the idea of hosting a fantasy camp for fans at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The idea was to run a regular package and a V.I.P. package with the V.I.P. package priced at $7,500 for a three night, two day experience.

The camps would have been limited to just 40 fans over the age of 18, with V.I.P. packages being split into two separate groups of ten to provide a more intimate experience. Both packages were loaded with perks for the fans.

Since then, WWE has issued another survey regarding potential WWE Performance Center Fantasy Camps, and it now appears that a lot of the details have been changed.

The camps would now run for just one day and would be limited to 20 fans instead of 40. Perks would now include the following:

– Participants signing a “training contract” with NXT coaches and “getting a welcome from Triple H himself.”

– Breakfast and lunch with NXT Champions

– Tour of the WWE Performance Center

– Observe a promo class being taught by WWE Hall Of Famer Dusty Rhodes

– Watch NXT training session, “Skill Session” and watch talents create their own promos

– Create your own voice-overs

– Watch an NXT showcase show inside the WWE Performance Center

– Receive autographed photos of all participating NXT talents

The WWE Performance Center Fantasy Camps could be launched later this year, or in early 2016, and would likely be a way to make money off of the Performance Center.

Jessica Havok Issues Apology For Racial, Homophobic Slurs

With Jessica Havok at the WWE tryout camp going on at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando this week, several fans began pointing out various tweets she posted a few years ago that contained many racial and homophobic slurs.

Havok started deleting those tweets, however it didn’t help, as screen shots were taken and she was unaware that she had written literally dozens of other tweets using similar language and slurs.

Below are the quotes of the alleged tweets, as well as screen shots of the alleged tweets before they were deleted.

“Hey Larry Dallas, get aids and die.”

“@DaveGoldust psht. I love myself too much. And aren’t you the gay one? #Aidsinfested #killyourself #Pleasedoit”

“All black women go to jail for embezzlement at some point in their lives. #misscleo #allysin_kays highschool principal”

“@RubyFruitShanti Bahaha!! That’s what I’m thinking. Its cuz ur black. No doubt.”

Havok has since issued a public apology about the situation, which you can read below.

“I want to apologize whole heartedly for the OLD tweets that are being brought up right now. Legit, It was years ago and i don’t even rem.tweeting over half of this stuff. The stuff i do remember was jokes that were in bad taste. I was young and very new to social media promo and i was very immature and just said things to make my friends laugh at the time. Inside jokes between us. I don’t really feel or believe any of the things i DID actually tweet. I am a loving, compassionate person and i LOVE everyone. No mater who! I would die for any wrestling fan and i care so much about wrestling and everything in it. I would not be here without any of you. I was young, stupid & immature. I am not too proud to admit some of it was me being bitter for all the wrong reasons, but I’ve learned and grown from this .. i hope this can be forgiven. I love you guys.”

Going into the event, Slater had the worst live event record in WWE with only one win and 44 losses. Other Superstars who went into the weekend with awful records were Bo Dallas with a 3-39 record, Adam Rose with a 5-56 record and Cameron with a 2-35 record.

– King Barrett noted on social media that he has been pulled from the scheduled WWE live events in Salt Lake and Pensacola this weekend, but was added to the live events in Mississippi and Louisiana.

– Pro Wrestling NOAH stars Mikey Nichols and Shane Haste were two additional independent talents who were at the WWE Performance Center for the WWE tryouts this week.

Latest On Tyson Kidd’s Injury, Gerald Brisco At WWE Tryout Camp, More

– WWE Hall Of Famer Gerald Brisco was at the WWE Performance Center this week working with talents. He will be sticking around the facility for the WWE tryout camp that is taking place.

– WWE still has Tyson Kidd undergoing medical tests to determine how severely he was injured during his match with Samoa Joe prior to RAW on Monday, which is likely the reason no official announcement has been made. The belief within WWE is that the injury Kidd suffered was a freak occurrence and not something that could have been prevented.

WWE Creative Team Opinion On Owens-Cena II, WWE Tryouts, WWE & NXT Attendance

– There are members of the WWE creative team who believe that the usual protocol of John Cena getting his win back is not the way to handle his upcoming rematch against NXT Champion Kevin Owens at the upcoming WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view. Ultimately, the final decision will be made by Vince McMahon, however there are many people who are pushing for Owens to come out of the match without losing this quick into his run on the main roster.

– Former TNA Knockout Taeler Hendrix, along with Johnny Gargano and Jimmy Preston are three additional names that will be working the WWE tryouts that begin next week at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

– Below are some recent WWE and NXT attendance figures.

Kevin Owens On NXT Deserving Praise, Learning At WWE Performance Center

NXT Champion Kevin Owens recently spoke with Vaughn Johnson of Philly.com to promote the upcoming NXT live event in Philadelphia. Below are some highlights from the interview.

On returning to Philly: “To come with NXT as NXT champion is cool because the last time I was in Philly it was with Ring of Honor and I knew it was the last time I’d be coming to Philly with Ring of Honor. In my head I didn’t know when I’d be back in Philly. Now to do it with WWE, with NXT and as the champion, it’s a pretty good feeling.”

On learning at the WWE Performance Center: “Everything I knew, and I think I knew quite bit, it was still nothing compared to the wealth of knowledge that NXT and the Performance Center allows you to have access to. If you think you know everything when you get there you’re in for a big surprise. I didn’t know everything, I knew I didn’t know everything and I was so excited to get to learn from all of those people.”

On the NXT brand being praised: “I think [the praise is] well-deserved. Everybody works so hard. I see it everyday. That’s the thing. People watch NXT once a week on the [WWE] Network, and they see one hour of the work we put in. I see every single day the people that are there working hard. The praise that we get is not surprising because we work really hard. We’re going to put on a show Thursday with the knowledge that Friday we have to be better because we have to live up to what we do Thursday and we know we’re going to kick ass on Thursday, so Friday we have to make that even better and we will.”

Furious 7 To Gross More This Year Than WWE & UFC Combined, Lucha Dragons News & More

– The Rock’s movie Furious 7 continues to crush it at the box office. Already in the top 10 highest grossing movies of all time, it’s taken in over 800 million dollars in less than two weeks. It’s expected to finish at about $350 domestic and $850 foreign, for a total of $1.2 billion. Furious 7 will take in more revenue this year than WWE and UFC combined.

– Jey Uso undergoing surgery and being out of action for the next 6 months is the reason the Lucha Dragons were called up to the main roster the night after WrestleMania 31. With the Usos on hold until the end of the year, WWE needed to quickly elevate a new babyface tag team to challenge Kidd & Cesaro, which is why we’ve seen the Dragons on such a roll in recent weeks.

– Former TNA Knockout (Sarah Stock/Dark Angel from CMLL) was at the WWE Performance Center this week as a guest trainer teaching Lucha style.

Two Of NXT’s New Rookies Talk About Signing With WWE

Last week, WWE sent out a press release announcing the signing of 11 new rookies to NXT. Two of them, former US Marine Kenneth Crawford and pro bodybuilder Thomas Kindon, spoke to Scott Fishman of the Miami Herald about what this opportunity means to them.

Kenneth Crawford, a four-year veteran of the US Marine Corps and an accomplished high school athlete, talked about the day he got the call from WWE:

“I was in San Diego, California. I was working at my contracting job for the Navy. I was driving home, and I got the call from [WWE’s] Canyon [Ceman] saying that I made it. I literally had to pull over to the side of the road, before I caused anymore traffic that already is in San Diego. The first person I told was my mom [Dara]. I told my mother simply because it was something I grew up on, that I was embedded in. This is stuff I got in trouble with as a kid. Everything. She’s seen the struggles that we went through. From the hardships — without a father figure to the passing of my sister [Kenesha] in 2000; she was also big on wrestling — to my own family that I have. Everything was full circle at that point.”

Thomas Kingdon, a professional bodybuilder and high school football player, talked about The Rock being an influence and wanting to wrestle John Cena one day.

“I have been given this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and my main dream now is to become the next superstar. I look at people like The Rock, who would be in the ring, and he would be electrifying, and then outside of the ring, people would flock to him, want to be around him. Then you have someone like John Cena, who also started in bodybuilding, and he became much more than just a physique. He is charismatic. He’s a whole persona. I give so much respect to him for becoming much more than just someone who competed.”
