CM Punk Declares WWE Raw His New Home Brand

CM Punk has appeared for every WWE brand since his shocking return at November 25th’s Survivor Series event. The time finally came for him to claim a brand home, and that’s exactly what happened during the December 11th episode of WWE RAW.

CM Punk has been busy in recent memory. He showed up at NXT Deadline, and then he was in Cleveland for RAW. The Second City Savior was all ready to deliver some big news about his brand home as RAW entered its second hour.

Adam Pearce said, “the time for a sales pitch is over.” CM Punk was there to make a big decision, and he did just that.

CM Punk said that he’s been thinking about his decision all week, and it has consumed him. Then he said that Cleveland hasn’t been historically kind to him, because there are some ghosts in that building for Punk. Then he told a story about debuting in that same building years ago.

Punk Signs With Raw

CM Punk said that taking himself “off the hamster wheel” was one of the hardest decisions he ever had to make. He showed up to Cleveland to right some wrongs as he said, “my future starts now.”

That is when CM Punk told Adam Pearce that he is the newest RAW Superstar. Now “CM Punk is home.” Right after that, Seth Rollins came out to get in Punk’s face for a promo.

What’s next for CM Punk on WWE RAW

Seth Rollins threw some big shots at CM Punk, as he reacted to fans chanting Punk’s name at a WWE live event. It appears that Punk and Rollins are destined to collide.

CM Punk is still a free agent internally, but this will keep him on the RAW brand for the time being. I was told that Punk is “assigned” to the RAW brand, despite his free agent status. It appears that he is kicking things off on the red team with a lot of momentum.

Sami Zayn’s Injury Status Confirmed During 12/11 RAW

WWE is going to have to go without Sami Zayn for the time being. The former NXT Champion is out of action after a brutal attack from Drew McIntyre. Now we know what his injury is.

Sami Zayn took a beat down from Drew McIntyre during the December 4th episode of WWE RAW. That resulted in an injury in storyline, and they broke that news during RAW this week.

They revealed on commentary during the December 11th episode of WWE RAW that Sami Zayn suffered a “partially torn meniscus.

What’s next for Sami Zayn?

As we previously reported, Sami Zayn requested time off from WWE. It isn’t known exactly how long he will be out of action, but they are selling this as a legit injury on RAW.

Sami Zayn will likely be back in due time, and with a fresh outlook after a bit of rest. His injury is not legit as far as we can tell, but he certainly deserves the time off.

We will continue covering this story, right here at SE Scoops. Sami Zayn may be back in time for the Royal Rumble on January 27th, which would be a nice break for the Underdog from the Underground.

Surprising WWE NXT Superstar Slated To Be At 12/11 RAW

WWE has a lot of plans in store for the December 11th episode of RAW. CM Punk will be in the house, where he will declare his new brand home. It turns out that WWE will have an NXT Superstar around in case they need him as well.

PW Insider reports that Von Wagner is expected to be at WWE RAW this week. It was not noted that he is slated to appear on the red brand’s show this week, but he is expected to be in Cleveland for the show.

It was noted that Von Wagner is likely there to work tonight’s Main Event. He was drafted as a free agent during the 2023 WWE Draft. So, he could appear on any brand they want to use him on.

What this means for Von Wagner in WWE

Von Wagner hasn’t been seen on WWE NXT television since his program with Bron Breakker concluded. Wagner made a big return after a fractured skull angle, but he lost twice to Breakker. He has worked NXT live events since then, and defeated Luca Crusifino on NXT Level up, as well as beating Joe Coffey on Main Event in late November.

WWE will often bring in NXT Superstars for Main Event tapings. It’s no big deal for that to happen, as it also gives them a chance to get a good look at talent.

We already reported that CM Punk’s RAW return sparked a huge influx in ticket sales. A lot of fans are going to pack the Rocket Mortgage Field House, Cleveland, Ohio for this week’s show.

Card for December 11th, 2023 WWE RAW

  • Cody Rhodes vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
  • Drew McIntyre vs. Jey Uso
  • Rhea Ripley vs. Maxxine Dupri (Non-Title Bout)
  • Becky Lynch calls out Nia Jax
  • CM Punk returns

We will have to see if WWE has any big surprises for fans this week on RAW. At this rate, you never know what will happen next. Keep checking back with us here at SE Scoops for more!

CM Punk Appearance Creates Ticket Sales Boom For 12/11 WWE RAW

WWE fans are very interested in CM Punk’s next move, as he carves out a new place for himself in the company’s storylines. The WWE Universe wants to see what CM Punk is going to do next in WWE, and they won’t have to wait long until his next big move. Tickets are also moving fast, because fans want to see him make that decision live.

CM Punk’s WWE comeback has made a notable impact on ticket sales. Punk’s surprise return at Survivor Series set the stage for an anticipated feud with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. This was a feud that Punk strongly hinted at during the November 8th episode of WWE SmackDown.

Despite criticism that WWE cut CM Punk’s promo time during his last RAW appearance, fans are still very excited to see what he has to say next week. He will be on RAW next week to declare his new brand home, signing with either RAW or SmackDown. Punk also made a quip about how he is going to speak with Shawn Michaels about NXT.

For the upcoming December 11th episode of RAW, WWE has already advertised matches like Cody Rhodes vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Drew McIntyre vs. Jey Uso, with more expected. Of course, CM Punk’s big decision will highlight the night.

WrestleTix reports that the December 11th episode of WWE RAW has already sold 8,283 tickets, with 916 still available for a setup of 9,199. Notably, in the last six days since WWE announced Punk’s appearance, 1,511 tickets were sold.

WWE Monday Night Raw, Mon Dec 11 at 7:30pm, Rocket Mortgage Field House, Cleveland, OH

Available Tickets => 916

Current Setup => 9,199

Tickets Distributed => 8,283

+1,511 since the last update (6 days ago). Big movement here. The upper decks have been opened up.

It was also noted that the last time WWE played the Rocket Mortgage Field House, on June 19th, 2023, they drew 10,495 fans. We will have to see if they are able to beat that number. That being said, their current setup for this time around doesn’t seem to be higher than their previous number.

CM Punk’s return has reignited fan interest and boosted ticket sales, confirming his influence in professional wrestling. Unlike in Albany for the December 4th RAW, where they moved a ton of tickets after Punk’s return, and he didn’t appear, the Second City Savior has been announced for the December 11th show.

WWE Loosens Up About Arenas Also Working With AEW

WWE and AEW often run the same markets, but there was an issue with Tony Khan’s company booking a lot of the same venues at times. It appears that issue is in the past.

In June, Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE was actively trying to prohibit their venues from booking AEW events. It was written:

“There is an interesting note that in arenas that do rent to both AEW and WWE, WWE has put clauses in its deals that AEW can’t run a certain number of weeks before or after the WWE show, and also that AEW and the arena can’t announce the show or sell tickets until after the WWE show has taken place.”

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that WWE is no longer blocking AEW from running certain venues. The Coca Cola Coliseum in Toronto was cited as an example, because AEW just announced a show at that venue, despite the fact that WWE is running the same building. Dave Meltzer reports:

It is notable that the new owners are not as vigilant, or maybe because of the lawsuit, regarding AEW having dates get out and tickets put on sale in buildings they are running shows in. AEW announced its return to Toronto even though WWE has a show in the same Coca Cola Coliseum

WWE’s current antitrust lawsuit with MLW may have also played into the company altering their tactics. They used to have a much different mindset toward the idea of AEW running the same venues that they do.

Tony Khan has previously expressed his appreciation for competition in professional wrestling, but he emphasized the importance of ethical practices. During the press conference following Double or Nothing, he noted that this hasn’t always been the case “from the other side.”

A WWE-imposed clause once restricted AEW from booking events seems to be a thing of the past now. We will have to see how this situation pans out in the future.

AEW has been having apparent issues packing their houses in recent memory as well. Either way, WWE will not stop Tony Khan’s company from running those venues, as they have apparently altered their philosophy on the matter.

Johnny Gargano Remains Optimistic About His Future On WWE RAW: “It’s All About Patience”

Many fans erupted in excitement when Johnny Gargano returned to WWE last summer. Upon his resurgence, Gargano also received a promotion to the main roster, assigned to the RAW brand.

Since his return, “Johnny Wrestling” has found himself generally floating between opponents, with his only substantial feud stemming from a storyline involving Dexter Lumis and The Miz. In February, Gargano punched his ticket to the Elimination Chamber, securing himself a shot at the United States Championship. Unfortunately, Gargano championship aspirations would be squandered as he was eliminated second from the six-man Chamber match.

Gargano soon bounced back with wins over Otis and Finn Balor, before making a surprise visit to WWE NXT to resolve some unfinished business with Grayson Waller. As Gargano now prepares for his match at NXT Stand & Deliver, he is poised to maintain his appearances on RAW as well.

The Future Of Johnny Wrestling

During an interview on Busted Open Radio, Johnny Gargano spoke candidly about his time on the main roster so far. While some fans may have hoped for more out of his run, Gargano remains optimistic toward his future on RAW.

“You know how things go, man, you make the most out of the time you’re given. You make the most out of your opportunities. I feel like I had a huge opportunity in the Elimination Chamber match, and I feel like I showed out in that one. I feel like I was able to get there with a guy that I feel is probably the standard bearer on our industry right now. Seth Rollins, I think he is the tippy top of the mountain. He’s where I want to be, and I hung toe to toe with him. I showed the world that I can hang with him. So it’s one of those things where it’s all about time. It’s all about patience,” he said.

“I know a lot of people don’t want to be patient. They want it now. They want me to go out there and have 30-minute matches, 25-minute matches, do my ‘Takeover’ thing. It takes time, it takes equity. It takes getting this other audience that maybe doesn’t know about me — these random casual fans we talk about all the time in these buildings that quite frankly, I haven’t been in before.”

“A lot of these markets I’ve never wrestled in and they’re seeing me for the very first time. This whole past, I’d say six months, I’ve wrestled in so many markets I’ve never been in before because NXT did the main markets, they did the main hardcore wrestling towns and like tonight we’re in Providence, Rhode Island, which is Rhode Island’s a great town. We had a couple indies here as well, but I do feel like it’s just time. It’s equity, as you know. It’s putting your time in making the most out of the time you’re given, and that’s all you can do.”

This week’s episode of WWE RAW will air live tonight from the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.

Becky Lynch and Bayley will square off tonight on the red brand in a singles match. Damage CTRL interfered in a Triple Threat match a couple of weeks ago in the main event of Raw and attacked Becky Lynch. Alexa Bliss capitalized and went on to win the match to advance to a #1 contenders match the following week.

Bliss battled Bayley last week to determine the #1 contender for the RAW Women’s Championship. Becky Lynch got her revenge and attacked Damage CTRL ringside. The distraction cost Bayley this time and Alexa capitalized to win and earn a title match against Bianca Belair.

Judgment Day’s Damian Priest and Finn Balor are set to take on Street Profits in a tag team match tonight. Rhea Ripley and Dominik are advertised to be ringside. Montez Ford sent out a warning earlier today and warned fans to put on their seatbelts ahead of Raw.

The Miz and Dexter Lumis are set to battle in a Winner Takes All Ladder match tonight on WWE Raw after months of feuding. Johnny Gargano played a key role in WWE Official Adam Pearce making this match last week.

Our live coverage will begin alongside tonight’s episode of WWE Raw. Refresh this page during Raw for live updates and leave a comment below.

Adam Pearce Addresses Firing Bobby Lashley on Raw: “I Need to Apologize to the WWE Universe”

Bobby Lashley battled Seth Rollins in a #1 contenders match last night in the main event of WWE RAW.

United States Champion Austin Theory watched on from backstage as Seth and Bobby fought to determine his next challenger. Lashley connected with a Spear but the referee was accidentally knocked out of the ring.

Bobby then went for another Spear but Seth counted into a Pedigree in the middle of the ring for the pinfall victory. After the match, Lashley shouted at the referee and shoved him. WWE official Adam Pearce then rushed down the entrance ramp and got in Bobby’s face. The All Mighty responded by shoving Pearce into the barricade and Adam fired Bobby on the spot.

Adam Pearce Addresses Firing Lashley on WWE Raw

WWE Official Adam Pearce took to Twitter today to explain why he fired Bobby Lashley last night at the conclusion of Raw.

I’d like to address to what happened last night to end Monday Night Raw between myself and Bobby Lashley.

First and foremost, despite what I said last night, Bobby Lashley is not fired.
That said, Bobby has repeatedly crossed the line, last night physically accosting two referees and putting his hands on me, not to mention Spearing WWE official Pete Williams last week.

All of that behavior is unacceptable, all of it will be addressed and it will have repercussions.

Pearce then changed his tune and offered an apology to the WWE Universe for his actions last night on WWE Raw.

Despite that, I need to apologize to the WWE Universe for the way I conducted myself.

In the heat of the moment, I allowed emotion to get the better of me, and frankly I said some things I shouldn’t have.

I’ll never apologize for having passion, but looking back on last night it is obvious I did not channel mine in the right direction. And I want you to know I regret that.

Bobby and I are going to meet later this week man to man and discuss the ramifications of what he has done, and more importantly how we can move forward and do business together with respect, like we always have up until now.

Owens noted that the last time he was in the ring with Elias he hit him with a guitar. Elias said he needed Owens ringside tonight for his match against Solo Sikoa because The Bloodline will be there.

Elias performed a song for Riddle before the match but Sikoa interrupted. Sami Zayn accompanied The Enforcer of The Bloodline to the ring for the match. Elias attacked Sikoa right away to start off the action as RAW went to a break.

Seth Rollins Earned a Title Shot, Bobby Lashley was Fired

Seth Rollins battled Bobby Lashley to determine Austin Theory’s next challenger for the United States Championship.

Before the match, Dolph Ziggler cut a promo backstage and claimed Austin Theory isn’t acting like a champion because he doesn’t know how to put the show on his back. Ziggler added that Theory’s arrogance will be his downfall and ended the promo by saying “watch your back kid”.

Seth Rollins and Lashley battled out of the ring to start off the match. Rollins connected with a running knee off the apron to Bobby’s face before the action returned to the ring.

The Origin of WWE Monday Night RAW: “We Needed a Different Presentation”

WWE RAW has been the company’s flagship show since 1993 and there have been 1,510 episodes to date. The show began as a one-hour program and has now expanded to three hours every Monday night. WWF Monday Night Raw’s first episode aired live on January 11th, 1993.

The first commentary team on Monday Night Raw was comprised of former WWE CEO Vince McMahon, comedian Rob Bartlett, and “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Bartlett didn’t last long and was replaced by Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. Bobby eventually left for WCW and called the action for WCW Nitro during the Monday Night Wars.

Vince Mcmahon bartlett macho

Before RAW, there was a show called WWF Prime Time Wrestling. The show aired from January 1985 – January 1993. The two-hour weekly show featured WWE Hall of Famers Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon, guests, and house show matches. WWF Prime Time Wrestling aired from January 1, 1985 – January 4, 1983.

Ric Flair and Randy Savage battled on Prime Time Wrestling in a WrestleMania VIII rematch. Vince McMahon was not a fan of how the match was going and had Heenan tell the referee to stop the match.

Speaking on his Something to Wrestle With podcast, Bruce Richard detailed how Vince McMahon had Savage and Ric Flair redo the match in front of the same audience. He noted that Ric and Randy were pissed off about it.

They were pissed. They didn’t think that there was anything wrong with the match. Obviously, someone else (Vince) did went out and redid it. And that was also when Randy went crazy and we went out to try and hold Randy back.

I got nailed by Randy and took a hell of a bump too. Quite the cheer backstage when I got nailed.

Bruce explained how Prime Time wasn’t clicking anymore and they were looking for a different presentation, which eventually led to WWE RAW.

The format had gone from Bobby & Gorilla to this kind of round table format if you will. That didn’t click. It just really didn’t click.

We were looking for different things, obviously, I had nothing to do with it beforehand. But once I got there everybody’s ‘what do you think of this?’ and it just, it wasn’t good.

It was a compilation show with a compilation panel. There was no consistency to the show at all, other than I think Vince (McMahon) and Bobby (Heenan).

We were looking for ways to save money, we were looking for a different presentation of the show, which is where the germ of RAW came from.

Co-host Conrad Thompson noted that fans typically didn’t get to see big moments at the time on weekly television. He noted that the World Title changing hands only brought in a 2.4 rating and wondered if they realized something had to change. Bruce Prichard said RAW came to be as a cost-cutting measure.

No. It was more of a cost-cutting measure. It was looking at ways to produce this show without doing it on the road. And look at delivering a product that was unique and that was different.

One thing that would make it unique and different was going live. The other part is we wanted to do it in a unique setting, a smaller more intimate setting than the big arenas.

The original concept was to build the studio where our current television studio was in the warehouse section that. Make that into an arena that would hold maybe 500 – 1,000 people.

RAW originated from the Grand Ballroom at the Manhattan Center and aired live each week. Prichard noted that the Manhattan Center was extremely expensive to run shows from.

In fact, the shows became so costly to produce, WWE began taping multiple shows at a time and would air a taped edition of Raw every other week.

Going to the Manhattan Center certainly didn’t accomplish that because the Manhattan Center was extremely expensive and a tough proposition. You had to take the ring up seven floors on an elevator, a passenger elevator at that. It was tough but the whole idea was we needed a different presentation.

The first episode of Monday Night Raw featured Yokozuna defeating Koko B. Ware, Shawn Michaels retaining the Intercontinental Championship against Max Moon, The Steiner Brothers defeating The Executioners, and The Undertaker picking up a victory over Damien Demento in the main event.

Sikoa grabbed a steel chair and slid it into the ring. Sikoa put a steel chair on Riddle’s head and hit another Senton.

Bayley won the First Triple Threat Match

Bayley came to the ring during WWE RAW but was interrupted by Becky Lynch during her entrance. The Role Model complained about Becky always getting the spotlight and claimed she didn’t care about the WWE Universe. Lynch noted that Damage CTRL have been successful because of Dakota Kai and IYO SKY, while Bayley has failed to capture a title.

The two traded some more words before Becky exited the ring as Rhea made her entrance. Ripley and Lynch had a stare down on the entrance ramp.

Bayley, Asuka, and Rhea Ripley battled in a Triple Threat match tonight on Raw. Ripley launched Bayley into the turnbuckle and did the same to Asuka. Rhea posed for the crowd but it allowed The Empress time to hit her with a Dropkick. Bayley followed it up with a Clothesline and the two briefly teamed up to send Ripley into the ring post.

Asuka went for a Hip Attack but Bayley got out of the way. The Role Model and Asuka battled outside the ring but Rhea took them both out with a Cannonball off the ring apron as WWE Raw went to a commercial break.

When Raw returned, Rhea went for a Splash but Asuka got out of the way. Asuka leveled Bayley with a Shining Wizard and delivered a Codebreaker on Ripley for a near fall. Bayley dragged Asuka out of the ring and tried to form an alliance with Rhea Ripley. Ripley didn’t buy it and grabbed Bayley by the throat.
