PHOTOS: Sting’s WWE Debut At Survivor Series 2014

Sting finally made his WWE debut at Survivor Series, appearing at the end of the Team Authority vs. Team Cena main event.

With Dolph Ziggler and Seth Rollins the final two men remaining, WWE COO Triple H took matters into his own hands. The Game attacked Dolph Ziggler and delivered a pedigree. Just as it looked like the members of Team Cena were about to be unemployed, the lights dimmed and the sound of a crow could be heard.

Sting delivered a Scorpion Death Drop to Triple H, put Ziggler on top of Rollins as the refere counted the three for Team Cena.

NOTE: Below and across the next several pages are photos of “The Icon” Sting at Sunday night’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view in St. Louis, MO.

WWE Survivor Series 2014 Kickoff Show

We are welcomed to the WWE Survivor Series 2014 Kickoff Show by the expert panel. The crew welcomes us to the show and runs down some of the action before quickly sending things to the ring, where we are joined by Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and JBL on commentary for our first Kickoff Show match.

Justin Gabriel vs. Fandango (with Rosa)

In the ring already is Justin Gabriel. Out next is the new-and-improved Fandango, accompanied by his new dance-partner, Rosa Mendes. The two have a whole new ring entrance, complete with a new theme song. Our first WWE Survivor Series Kickoff Show match is officially underway, as the bell sounds to start this one off.

Fandango jumps off to an early lead, and he’s in new ring gear as well. He’s got a fancy white shirt on with dress pants and dress shoes. Gabriel, by the way, is wearing some kind of skeleton ring attire.

Anyways, Fandango is in control of the offense with ease thus far, posing and dancing around in between spots and moves.

Fandango dominates the action throughout the entire match as the announcers spend most of the time putting over the “new-and-improved” Fandango, with Rosa as his new dance partner. In the end, Fandango hits his usual top-rope leg drop for the 1-2-3. Fandango wnis. Afterwards, he and Rosa dance around and celebrate their victory.

Back To The Kickoff Show Panel

Back to the expert panel, which features Renee Young, Alex Riley, Booker T and Paul Heyman, as we look ahead to some of the other matches scheduled for tonight’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view.

Backstage: The Miz & Damien Mizdow

From there, we shoot backstage for a Miz and Damien Mizdow segment. Mizdow hold an empty picture frame, which is supposed to be a mirror. Miz looks into the “mirror,” where Mizdow mimics all of Miz’s movements and gestures. They talk about how a win tonight for The Miz is also a win for Mizdow. Same basic stuff we’ve been seeing from these two.

Bad News Barrett Has Some “Bad News” For Team Cena & Team Authority

After the panel talks about some other stuff scheduled for tonight, they are interrupted by some music. It’s time, folks! Bad News Barrett makes his way out to his podium at the top of the stage. He says after a five and a half mnoth absence, he has returned. He references the Team Cena vs. Team Authority main event and the high-stakes stipulation. When he gets to John Cena, he says, “But John, I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news!” He talks about how The Authority is going to make his life a living hell. He then says, “It must be groundhog day, because Team Authority — I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news!” He says if they lose, WWE will live under a new era — the era of Bad News! He thanks us very much. His music plays and that’ll do it for Bad News Barrett’s Kickoff Show segment tonight. She closes by saying play time is over and when her title is on the line, like it is tonight, she’s going to get the job dnoe. She walks off.

Backstage: Byron Saxton Interviews AJ Lee

Backstage, Byron Saxton is with the WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee. She mocks the drama going on between The Bella Twins and jokingly asks how she’s going to manage tonight. She says she thinks somehow she’ll be able to manage just fine.

Cesaro vs. Jack Swagger (with Zeb Colter)

As the Kickoff Show panel continue debating and discussing some of tonight’s matches, they are interupted by the theme song of none other than “The King of Swing.” With that said, Cesaro makes his way to the ring and ultimately informs everyone in St. Louis that he offers his support tonight for Team Authority. He proceeds to do the same in six different languages, until finally, Jack Swagger, accompanied by Zeb Colter, interupts him.

Colter asks for the production truck to “cut the music.” He says he’s sick and tired of hearing about all of this foreign stuff. As he continues to talk, as he and Swagger move closer to the ring, Colter makes it clear that he and Swagger offer their support for Team Cena. He tells Cesaro that he’s a brown-noser and now as they get closer to the ring, he’s going to show what a real American does, which is roll their sleeves up and get the job done themselves. With that said, he leads the fans in a loud “We The People!” chant.

The bell rings and here we go with a one-on-one match between Cesaro and Swagger. Early on, Cesaro establishes dominance over Swagger, until out of nowhere Swagger looks to apply the Patriot Lock. Cesaro, however, ultimately breaks his way free.

Cesaro re-establishes control of the offense as the “U.S.A.” chants break out in St. Louis. The announcers remind us that Cesaro and Swagger used to be a part of “The Real Americans” tag-team.

As the action continues, a loud “We The people” chant breaks out as Cesaro cuts a comeback attempt by Swagger short. The announcers ignore the action in the ring as Cesaro maintains control of the action in the ring.

Swagger starts making a comeback. As he launches up to the middle rope for a Swagger Bomb attempt, Cesaro grabs him, but Swagger immediately reverses that into a Patriot Lock attempt. Cesaro breaks free, but literally secnods later, Swagger re-applies the hold. This time, Cesaro taps out.

    Winner: Jack Swagger

Parking Lot: Vince McMahon Has Arrived!

Right after the Swagger-Cesaro match ends, we shoot out to the parking lot. We see a limo pull up. Out steps a pair of shoes. The camera pans up and we see none other than Mr. McMahon himself, Vince McMahon! Vince walks towards the building as the Kickoff Show concludes. It’s time to head to the PPV portion of the 2014 edition of WWE Survivor Series! Stick with us folks, it’s time for WWE Survivor Series 2014!

Seth Rollins On Brock Lesnar Not Being Around, Tonight’s Survivor Series, & More

The following are highlights of a new Miami Herald interview with Seth Rollins:

On leading Team Authority at Survivor Series: “I think there is a lot of weight on my shoulders for sure. You are looking at some pretty big stakes going into Survivor Series with the Authority’s control of WWE on the line. You could be looking at a completely different WWE come the night after Survivor Series. It’s on my shoulders to make sure that doesn’t happen. I like my bosses. I like where they’re at, as they’ve helped me out a lot. So being on that team, captaining that team and looking at the history of Survivor Series and matches that have paved the way for this one, it’s going to be great to be part of it. I’m looking forward to making another blip on my own legacy with defeating Team Cena in a major pay-per-view atmosphere.”

On learning while working with The Authority: “I’m a sponge in that scenario soaking up all the information I possibly can. You are looking at Triple H, who has pretty much done all there is to do in WWE. You look at Stephanie, who is a McMahon. She has this in her blood. Then you have Kane, who also has been around in many incarnations for a very long period of time. There is so much information and so much to learn about being the man in WWE. That’s definitely who I want to be and where I want to be. It’s been an incredible experience to be with the three of those people and learn from them on a day-to-day basis.”

OnWWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar not being around: “I think it’s bull crap. I don’t appreciate it one bit. I’m sitting here with this contract biding my time. I want to be the WWE world heavyweight champion now. I don’t want to wait around to when he decides it’s cool to show up. He has said it before. He is this mercenary. He is basically a guy you pay as much as he wants and he comes and works for you. I’m not a fan of that. I think there is no honor in that.”

“Coming from the guy who ‘stabbed his brothers in the back,’ me talking about honor I know can sound a little outrageous. However, I want him to be around so I can keep an eye on him and make sure that WWE world heavyweight championship is within eyeshot. That’s my goal and on the horizon for me. When he isn’t here or not around, it can be pretty frustrating.”

  • WWE Survivor Series — Where Legends Are Born & Moments Are Made

In 1987, WWE presented their first ever “Survivor Series” event, the first non-WrestleMania pay-per-view event, originally designed to steal viewers away from their main competition at the time, NWA’s “Starrcade,” which was the south’s version of “WrestleMania” (even though Starrcade came first) and was WWE’s attempt to throw down the gauntlet to the pay-per-view industry.

Basically put, if you were a pay-per-view provider and you decided to carry Starrcade, you would not be able to carry WrestleMania, a proven success in the pay-per-view industry.

    That was the beginning.

From there, throughout the years, a number of historical events would take place at a Survivor Series event.

In no particular order, you can point to single Superstar debuts such as The Undertaker in 1990, which was also the debut of the infamous Gobbeldy Gooker. Which was the more famous of the two, well, I’ll let you decide.

1996 saw the debut of “Rocky Maivia,” to this day arguably the biggest cross-over name to ever emanate from the world of sports entertainment. At the time, while he was touted as being the first-ever third generation performer, and as “Good Ole’ JR” would say, “that’s gonna be the man, right there! That’s blue-chipper, right there!” with all of the enthusiasm the only Jim Ross could muster, oh how true those words would come to be as time went on.

One year later, the most infamous moment perhaps in all of WWE would take place. A moment that certainly began the shift in the WWE vs. WCW “Monday Night Wars” would take place, as not only did Bret Hart get “screwed” in what would become known as “The Montreal Screwjob,” but in many ways, that became the birth of the “Mr. McMahon” character, one that without he, the “Stone Cold” Steve Austin character may have never reached the heights that he would go on to achieve throughout his illustrious career.

In 1999, WWE’s first ever Olympic gold medalist, Kurt Angle, made his official in-ring pay-per-view debut, defeating Shawn Stasiak in the second match on the card.

In 2002, the Survivor Series featured another “first,” as this would be the first time that we were treated to a new gimmick match known as the “Elimination Chamber.” A man notorious among the wrestlers within the profession, just a few months ago the match concept was thrown out, large in part — according to various rumors — because of how unforgiving the structure was for those who had to actually compete inside it.

Most recently, the big “debut” of a match, concept or character took place at the November 18, 2012 edition of the WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view, which took place in Indianapolis, Indiana, as three men who would become known as “The Shield” made their official WWE main roster debut. Those three men would become known as Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose.

Just to show how important those three men are, one is involved (as a Team Captain, no less) in the main event of this year’s Survivor Series, which takes place tonight from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

    That man is Seth Rollins.

Another one of the former Shield members, Dean Ambrose, is in what is being billed as arguably the legitimate co-main event of the evening, as he collides with another rising up-and-comer, Bray Wyatt.

    And that leaves Roman Reigns.

Well, while he’s not officially booked on the actual card for tonight’s show, let’s just say there are a lot of rumors going around that claim we just may see him involved on the show tonight in some form or fashion after all.

Finally, that leaves two other names.

First up, the hometown boy. St. Louis’ own “The Viper” Randy Orton is rumored to make his return to WWE, after taking a brief hiatus to film a WWE Studios project, “The Condemned 2.”

Last, and absolutely not least, is “The Icon.”

While yours truly is not holding his breath and is going to take a “wait and see” approach before getting overly excited, rumors on the internet over the past few days insist that a certain Crow-painted style performer will make his very, very highly-anticipated WWE pay-per-view debut tonight at the Scottrade Center.

That’s right, folks. “The man they call Sting” is rumored to make his WWE debut, after all these years, at the same show that has produced so many memorable debuts, characters, matches and moments. If, in fact, “The Stinger” does make his WWE debut on tonight’s show, this writer has his new favorite Survivor Series moment of all-time.

WWE Survivor Series Betting Odds: Who Is Favored To Win Team Cena vs. Team Authority?

Although the late “smart money” has yet to come in, below are the current online betting odds for tonight’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view, which shows the current betting favorites and underdogs.

    – Team Cena -505 vs. Team Authority +335

    – Nikki Bella -300 vs. AJ Lee +220

    – Dean Ambrose -170 vs. Bray Wyatt +130

    – The Miz & Damien Sandow -190 vs. Goldust & Stardust +160 vs. The Usos +210 vs. Los Matadores +350

    – Team Natalya -125 vs. Team Paige -115

Remember, a (-) indicuates a betting favorite, while a (+) indicates an underdog. For example, in the main event, with Team Cena being (-505), it would take a $505 bet to earn $100 in profits. With Team Authority at (+335), a $100 bet would earn you $335 profit.

  • Update On Survivor Series Surprises: Another Big One Planned? (Possible Spoiler)

As noted throughout the weekend, wrestling legend Sting is expected to have a presence of some sort on tonight’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view.

We also noted that Randy Orton, who along with Sting, is in St. Louis, the site of tonight’s pay-per-view, and could potentially make his return tonight as well.

Finally, we noted that Roman Reigns is another possibility for tonight’s Survivor Series show.

Regarding these surprises, and there’s said to be another one or two besides the aforementioned three, that will be held back due to the belief that Sting and Orton, if those are the two that they run with, is enough for one show and that any additional surprises would be overkill and would actually take away from the importance of the others.

DDP, Jim Ross, Lilian Garcia Give In-Depth Survivor Series Predictions & Analysis

The sports section of the new AlternativeNation.net website has a feature on tonight’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view, with Jim Ross, Diamond Dallas Page and Lilian Garcia giving their predictions and thoughts on tonight’s big show.

Below are some highlights from the piece.

DDP: “You know, hearing about Sting potentially appearing at the pay-per-view tomorrow/tonight, I think that he is going to be a God there. I think Sting is going to be really well respected; everyone there grew up watching him. Sting is 55 years old, the reason you don’t really play that in is because he covers his body and stays in shape. He’s in really good shape and he paints his face. I mean, KISS is going out there and playing into their sixties and young kids are going: “Ah, I love this!” No one did it better then Sting, nobody and knowing that he could of held out and been worth so much more? I wish I could of done that! (laughs).”

Jim Ross: “Well It’s basically a one match pay-per-view and they really waited until the last week to give more information and add to the intrigue. Especially on Monday when they added new members to Team Cena who were somewhat unusual. I’ll say that it’s a one match pay-per-view or a two match pay-per-view if you count Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt.”

“By the way, I’m all for those guys, I like the both of them, they were both down in developmental when I was still with the company and I was working down there so I have a special place for both of those guys and I hope they do well. However, the match, in all honesty, is a one match show. It’s the elimination tag with Team Cena against Team Authority and you know the stipulation, if Team Authority loses, they’re no longer in power, and I think the stipulation they’re going to add is if Cena’s team loses then they’re all fired so it’s one of those real straight forward stipulations and you hope it’s going to be a good show.”

Lilian Garcia: “I am really enjoying the build up to the Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt feud. You have two extremely talented superstars and I think they’re gonna give it their all. It’s exciting too because you get to see it for free on the WWE Network. I also can’t wait for the Team Cena/Team Authority match. It’s crazy how it’s already changed, Sheamus got hurt, so there is so many surprises that have happened already that it’s making me go: “I can only imagine what’s going to happen!”

It’s unknown whether Reigns will appear on camera, but he’s advertised for next month’s TLC pay-per-view (and multiple live events in December) and he’s either ready to return or getting very close.

Chris Jericho, who performed with Fozzy in Minnesota last night, went into full “Jeri-troll” mode on Twitter, teasing fans that he could be the third rumored surprise for Survivor Series:

Backstage Update On Two Huge Surprise Returns At Survivor Series

There are reports floating around the internet today that claim Randy Orton has been spotted at a restaurant in St. Louis, the site of Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view, doing basically nothing to keep his presence hidden from the public.

It was reported earlier that Orton took a 9am flight out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he is filming a WWE Studios movie, to DFW Airport, connecting to St. Louis.

The fact that “The Viper” is in St. Louis doesn’t necessarily guarantee that he will be on the Survivor Series show, as he lives there and was reportedly in town visiting his father. However, is definitely in town right now.

The belief from another one of the other sources is that Sting will be at Survivor Series on Sunday, but no one has yet to be able to officially confirm that to us. The initial reports that surfaced online claimed that Sting at Survivor Series is a definite, which would make sense timing wise for a number of reasons.

Jim Ross Blog: Sting At Survivor Series?, Sunday’s PPV Main Event Outcome, Lesnar/UFC

The following are highlights of the latest blog by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On Sting possibly appearing at Survivor Series: “My Twitter timeline lit up Friday night with the conveniently, timed info/rumor that Sting would make a ‘surprise’ appearance at Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series. I have no idea it that’s true or not and I’d have preferred if the info, true or not, would not have leaked out. I’m not a major fan of the “Jardine’s” aka spoilers. I’m a Sting fan from back in the day and believe that if his first and perhaps only match in WWE is at WrestleMania 31. The man has earned a WrestleMania Moment without question.”

On his prediction for the Survivor Series main event outcome: “If forced to make a prediction, I’d go with Team Cena winning the Survivor Series main event Sunday in St. Louis which provides WWE the opportunity to truly set the reset button and create some new scenarios that are due with the build to WM31 beginning to commence. If so, Im curious to see how HHH and Steph are repositioned as WWE needs star power and they provide that more than many of the talents.”

On rumors of a Brock Lesnar return to UFC: “My thoughts on the possibility of Brock Lesnar returning to the UFC have seemingly resonated among some. Lesnar is a true jock….not an entertainer….and in the UFC he can be involved in a main steam sport of which he covets while still making big money for working few times a year. I think the amazingly gifted athlete longs for the competition and to see what’s left in the tank after his battles with diverticulitis. Perhaps with the additional TV dates that Lesnar has agreed to is for him to lose the WWE Title on Monday Night RAW where the most fans would see it. Who knows?”

As we wrote earlier this week, Triple H announced at the WWE SmackDown television taping on Tuesday night that all of the members of “Team Cena” would be fired if they lost the traditional elimination match at this Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view..

As it turns out, the stipulation is actually one that will see all of the “Team Cena” members get fired — except for John Cena himself — if the team loses to “Team Authority” at this Sunday’s pay-per-view main event.

Apparently Triple H said that Cena is still valuable to WWE, while his team members, Ryback, Big Show, Dolph Ziggler and Erick Rowan, are replaceable.
