Big Plans For Roman Reigns In The 2014 Royal Rumble, Survivor Series News

– The WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view this year at the TD Garden in Boston had 13,500 fans in attendance, with 12,000 paid. WWE announced the attendance as 15,297.

– There are already plans for WWE Superstar and current member of The Shield, Roman Reigns, to get a huge push in the 2014 Royal Rumble match. The idea is to use him similar to the way Kane and Kevin Nash have been booked in the past, where he would rack up a number of impressive eliminations during the match.

  • WWE RAW Reaction (11/25): The “YES!” & The “NO!”

Here’s the latest installment of “The YES! & The NO! of WWE RAW.” I may have a different perspective than you since I was live at Raw this week at The Nassau Colosseum! Comment below and tell us how you like the column and if you agree with this week’s picks.

    WWE RAW (11/25): The “YES!”

Daniel Bryan & CM Punk vs The Wyatts

Daniel Bryan & CM Punk cut a promo before facing The Waytts

Daniel Bryan & CM Punk cut a promo before facing The Wyatts

The obligatory rematch between The Wyatts and Daniel Bryan & CM Punk, took place on Raw. First a promo from “The Beard & The Best” CM Punk discussing team names, and asking questions allowing Daniel Bryan to answer them with a “Yes!”.  Daniel Bryan got a chance to say more than just the three letter word that will follow him for the rest of his career.

I love Daniel Bryan, and so does the crowd. In fact you could hear Daniel Bryan chants during the opening segment, proving once again that this demotion was not “Best For Business” But more on that in the “NO!” section.

Any match can be enhanced with the crowd behind you. When you have top stars like CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, the two most over Superstars at Raw, it can add just that little more energy to the match.

CM Punk made a comment about Triple H and the authority in the opening promo, and wouldn’t know it after Daniel Bryan was “Kidnapped” by the Wyatts. CM Punk was laid out by The Shield.  I wonder if that marks the end of Daniel Bryan and CM Punk together, because I was enjoying that. Time will tell.

Who would have thought Goldust would be having great matches alongside his brother in 2013!

The Shield vs The Rhodes and Rey Mysterio

I have never been a fan of Tag Teams growing up watching the WWE. I must say however, though all the missteps, and bad booking since SummerSlam, The WWE has a great tag team division. This, of course includes The Shield and The Wyatt factions. Day in and day out these teams from The Veteran Golddust, to newer WWE talent in The Shield and The USO’s, are having great matches. I am thoroughly enjoying watching these teams work.

    The Kosher Butcher!

    The Kosher Butcher!

    The Kosher Butcher
Superstars for Sandy Relief Auction winner, ” Charlie Tebele was interviewed by Jerry “The King” Lawler. When asked if he were to be a WWE Superstar, what would his name be. Charlie was prepared, with a blue T-shirt and a great gimmick “The Kosher Butcher” He even went as far to come up with his finisher, The Circumcision! At first the crowd didn’t know what to make of this.  Not sure if this was shown on TV, but The Kosher Butcher had at least a dozen of his friends and family at Raw, all wearing their Blue shirts! Great stuff. Half way during the Xavier Woods match, and some further thought, the crowd broke out into chants of  both “Kosher Butcher” and “Circumcision”, add that to the list of most bizarre Raw chants.
    Great Stuff.

Roman Reigns Comments On His Push, Survivor Series Buyrate Expectations

    – There was talk backstage at Monday’s RAW that WWE officials are not expecting a good buyrate for this year’s Survivor Series pay-per-view.

    – A fan on Twitter told Roman Reigns that he’s going to be “THAT dude,” referring to his current push and potential to be a WWE main event star. Reigns replied:

Details On People Unhappy Backstage At Survivor Series On Sunday Night

According to a source backstage at Sunday’s Survivor Series pay-per-view from Boston, a few WWE officials were upset that halfway through the show, “Bret Hart” was the only WWE-related term that was trending on Twitter.

While the real higher-ups in the company had bigger fish to fry at that point with such a big event going on, other officials in the company were said to be in a bad mood over the company’s inability to get stuff to trend past the NFL game and music awards show on at the time.

  • Jim Ross Blog: WWE Unifying Titles, Roman Reigns, Big E. Langston & More

The following are highlights from the latest online blog by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On overall Survivor Series thoughts: “I watched WWE Survivor Series Sunday night from Boston. No, I don’t get them for free and never have but who’s complaining? I get asked this question every PPV weekend. I pay my way and don’t condone people stealing including PPV’s from any company.”

On Roman Reigns: “Highlight of the PPV for me was the spotlight placed on Roman Reigns who pinned four members of the opposition with the same move, a nice, snug clothesline. Reigns has “it” and has always been high on everyone’s list of hopeful, future WWE main eventers. The son of WWE Hall of Famer Wild Samoan Sika has transformed his former nose tackle body into a more healthy, appealing and more marketable one since signing with WWE’s developmental program. Soon…I expect that the other two Shield members will also be more in the spotlight as both Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose are also marketably skilled and have excellent futures, as well.”

On Big E. Langston: “Bothers me to read some tweets @JRsBBQ regarding Big E Langston who I got to know well in NXT and who I feel has a very significant upside. ‘E’ is another talented, educated, dependable athlete who is so much more than a former power lifter. The former state high school wrestling champion and D1 football lineman at Iowa has great feet and agility plus he’s another student of the game and takes his preparation and in ring progress seriously.”

On the WWE and World titles possibly being unified: “Not sure what to make of a title unification match, if that’s where WWE is headed, with Cena and Orton. A unique way to end the show that certainly presented more questions and speculation than answers. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. I’d expect that particular matter to be at the center of attention on RAW Monday night.”

  • Details On A Big Mistake At Survivor Series By Commentary Team & Ring Announcer

There was a pretty big error during the conclusion of the Divas Elimination Match at Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view involving both the commentary team and the ring announcer.

Near the end of the match, the Survivor Series broadcast team of Michael Cole, JBL and Jerry “The King” Lawler consistently referred to Natalya as the only member of her team remaining in the match. Nikki Bella, who was outside the ring selling, was actually still active in the match. Natalya ended up putting AJ Lee in the Sharpshooter to gain the win for her team, and was announced as the “sole survivor” of Team Natalya.

After the match, Lilian Garcia announced Natalya as the sole survivor, as did the announce team, when in fact Nikki was a survivor as well. Later in the show, Michael Cole acknowledged the fact that they had made the mistake, and informed fans that both Natalya and Nikki Bella survived in their match.

    – WWE Superstar Mark Henry, who returned with his new look to answer the open challenge issued by Ryback at Survivor Series, spoke to WWE.com about his reason for coming out. Henry claimed that he answered Ryback’s challenge due to the fact that Ryback was disrespecting Bret Hart, Booker T and Mick Foley, who he cut off when he came out to the ring.

How Did “Dolphins1925” Do With His WWE Survivor Series Predictions?

Dolphins1925, the infamous Reddit user who predicts pay-per-view outcomes at an impressive rate continued his nearly flawless streak by correctly posting all of the match results prior to the start of Survivor Series on Sunday night.

As has been the case lately, his predictions followed the betting lines, which produced a perfect record based on the favorites heading into the show.

The “insider money” came in on CM Punk and Daniel Bryan following Friday’s SmackDown where Punk and Bryan went from light favorites to heavy favorites over The Wyatt Family.

Randy Orton and John Cena were both huge favorites to retain their respective titles, The Miz was a light favorite to win the PPV pre-show match, Big E. Langston was a heavy favorite to retain his Intercontinental title, Team Natalya were favorited over Team Total Divas and The Shield and The Real Americans were heavy favorites to win their elimination match.

    – As we reported throughout the day on Sunday leading into Survivor Series, WWE Superstar Mark Henry was expected to make his return as the man who would answer Ryback’s rumored “open challenge” on the show. Ryback in fact did perform the “open challenge” and Henry ended up being the man to accept. Henry returned at Survivor Series by defeating Ryback, complete with his new look. Henry sported a completely shaved head and a longer beard, and was put over enormously by the announce team during the show.

    WWE Survivor Series Kickoff Show

We start the kickoff show with a camera shot of us heading throughout the building as Josh Mathews talks about tonight’s show. From there, we shoot to the Survivor Series expert panel, which features WWE Hall Of Famers Mick Foley, Booker T and Bret Hart.

Mathews introduces each guy on the panel and then asks them what they’re looking forward to the most tonight. A loud “Foley, Foley” chant breaks out as Hart talks about his anticipation of the WWE Championship match tonight. Foley says he’s got his eye on the WWE title more, even though he meant the World Heavyweight Title as he is talking about Cena and Del Rio. Booker says he’s looking most forward to the traditional elimination matches on the show tonight.

We preview the Kickoff Match scheduled for tonight between The Miz and Kofi Kingston. We get a brief discussion about the history of their feud, as the expert panelists talk about Miz and Kingston, and Miz’s recent heel turn. Foley refers to Miz as a “magnificent jerk.” Hart agrees. Booker says Miz is doing whatever it takes to get the job done.

Josh Mathews introduces us to Renee Young, who is in the social media lounge. She talks about the Twitter and Facebook interaction during tonight’s show. She talks about a dream-team poll. Basically, they’re asking fans to compile a list of five guys who would make the perfect dream team for an elimination match at Survivor Series.

The expert panel breaks down the history of the John Cena and Alberto Del Rio feud. They talk about all of the matches on the card tonight of major note, introducing various video packages in between most of them.

Backstage Segment: The Usos, Goldust, Cody Rhodes and Rey Mysterio

Backstage we see The Usos talking with Goldust about face paint. Cody Rhodes comes in and says he didn’t get a note about having war paint. Rey Mysterio enters the picture and asks if everybody is ready. Mysterio says the Rhodes brothers father is going to be proud of their performance tonight. Cody says tonight they go in the ring as a team that’s destined to survive. They all shake hands and leave.

Josh Mathews informs us that the traditional elimination match featuring The Usos, Goldust, Cody Rhodes and Rey Mysterio vs. The Shield and The Real Americans will be the first match on the pay-per-view portion of tonight’s Survivor Series show.

Backstage Segment: CM Punk & Daniel Bryan

Backstage, Renee Young is with CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. Punk is wearing a new “Best” t-shirt. The crowd can be heard in the arena chanting “Yes, Yes” as the two do their backstage interview. Bryan talks about being ruthless and violent and says he can be pretty unreasonable. He says Punk and himself both like challenges. Punk is making goofy faces while Bryan talks. Punk gets his turn on the mic. He says Bray Wyatt is a weird cat who has two goons that try to intimdate people. Punk says he and Bryan are not intimidated by people who wear Sheep Masks, etc. Punk says The Wyatt Family is in over their heads because tonight they step into the ring with the GOAT’s — Greatest of all teams. He says “The Best” and “The Beard” are going to get it done tonight.

Josh Mathews introduces tonight’s Survivor Series announce team — Michael Cole, JBL and Jerry Lawler. All three guys spend a few moments previewing some of the matches for tonight. Kofi Kingston’s music hits and now it’s time for our “Survivor Series Kickoff Show Match.”

    Kickoff Show Match
    – The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston

The bell rings and Miz extends his hand, offering to shake Kofi Kingston’s hand. Kingston thinks about it for a second and eventually does. Miz simply shakes his hand, he doesn’t do anything “heelish” just yet. The two lock up and this match is officially underway. Miz knocks Kingston down early. Miz rolls Kingston up off the ropes early but only gets a count of two. Miz goes for a backbreaker but Kingston spins around Miz’s body and rolls Miz up. Kingston reverses it into a pin of his own. Each guy is rolling around, countering each others pin attempts several times in a row. They literally just attempted about 10-20 pin attempts just now.

When the smoke clears, Miz is grabbing Kingston’s leg and going for the Figure Four Leglock. Kingston escapes, returns to his feet and goes for the Trouble In Paradise kick. Miz avoids it but Kingston ends up sending Miz over the top and onto the floor with a clothesline. Kingston flies through the ropes, crashing onto Miz on the floor. We head to a mid-match commercial.

When we return from commercial, Kingston has Miz in a rear chinlock. The two work back to their feet and Kingston nails Miz with a flying cross-body for another near fall. Miz cuts off Kingston’s momentum with a big kick to the face in the corner. Miz drags a lifeless Kingston into the middle of the ring and attempts to pin him. Kingston manages to kick out at two and a half.

Miz is starting to get frustrated now, and is getting a bit more intense with his offense. Miz locks Kingston into a choke as the crowd stomps their feet and claps their heads, trying to get Kingston back into the match. Kingston reverses a Miz pin attempt into a double jumping foot-stomp on Miz. Both guys are down now as the referee begins his double-count.

Both guys get back to their feet and Miz runs at Kingston. Kingston catches Miz coming in with a double-chop. And another. And another. Kingston calls for the Boom Drop as the crowd goes nuts. He hits it. Kingston is setting up now for the Trouble In Paradise. Miz ducks it but Kingston rolls Miz up. 1-2…Miz kicks out. Miz catches Kingston out of nowhere for the Skull Crushing Finale. Kingston avoids that and reverses it into the S.O.S. He hits it and attempts a pin. Miz still manages to kick out at two. Kingston misses a big move and Miz grabs Kingston’s leg. He goes for the Figure Four again but Kingston reverses that into a pin attempt. Miz kicks out at two.

Kingston goes up to the top and comes flying off, crashing into Miz with a cross-body splash. Kingston tries pinning Miz again but again Miz kicks out at two. Kingston again nails Miz with the Trouble In Paradise. He nails another. Kingston goes for a third but Miz avoids it. He goes for the Skull Crushing Finale but Kingston reverses it into a roll-up pin attempt. Miz reverses that roll-up into a roll-up pin attempt of his own. 1-2-3. Miz wins. Kingston shakes his head but in a way where “yah, you got me.” Miz stops and sees Kingston looking upset. He offers to shake Kingston’s hand again. Instead of shaking Miz’s hand, Kingston bitch-slaps Miz hard. The crowd seemed surprised by that. Did we just get a swerve and a Kingston heel turn? Hmm…

    Winner: The Miz

  • Another Possible Survivor Series Spoiler — Two Big Stars Rumored To Return

    – WWE Superstar Sheamus is in Boston, Mass. today. Obviously with Boston being the site of tonight’s WWE Survivor Series, many are speculating as to whether or not Sheamus will appear in some form or fashion on the show.

Sheamus wrote the following on Twitter recently:

    – As noted previously, WWE Superstar Mark Henry is also in Boston tonight. Fans have been speculating that Henry will answer Ryback’s rumored “open challenge” on the show. Sheamus could be another guy that could respond to the challenge, although that is obviously pure speculation, and actually pretty unlikely due to his condition.

    – Kellan Lutz, who is portraying “Hercules” in a separate film from the one Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently starred in, noted in a recent interview that he was unable to get as big as The Rock did for his role. Lutz even went as far as to say, “There’s not enough ‘extra-curricular’ stuff for that.”

    – WWE Superstar Mark Henry has apparently been spotted in Boston, Massachusetts, the site of tonight’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view. Henry was seen flying into Boston with WWE agents Billy Kidman and Dean Malenko.

Obviously Henry’s presence in Boston doesn’t necessarily mean that he will be making his return during the show. Some are speculating, however, that he will return to answer the “open challenge” that Ryback is rumored to be a part of on the show tonight.

  • Jim Ross Blog: “Boston Screwjob” At Survivor Series Tonight?, More

The following are highlights from the latest online blog by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On tonight’s WWE Survivor Series main event: “Orton vs. Big Show for the WWE Title….I’d expect some sort of a ‘Boston Screw Job’ at Survivor Series especially with Bret Hart on the HOF TV panel. Plus, remember when Bret got shafted at Survivor Series versus Bob Backlund. Just seems as if it’s too easy to not cheat Big Show out of the title and to add much needed heat to Orton and the ‘Authority’ personas. Nice place here for the Shield to circle back through the PPV.”

On “yes-men” backstage in wrestling: “To hear those that are in positions of authority silently nod in agreement at all of upper management’s concepts or suggestions and then gather amongst themselves to bitch and complain is disheartening. Those offenders will tell you that they’ve just trying to keep their jobs which is more often than not sadly true.”

On a Survivor Series memory involving Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon: “One of my favorite Boston, the site of tonight’s WWE Survivor Series, memories with WWE saw me sharing a small dressing room in the old, Boston Garden with Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan. The Brain would hide Gorilla’s suspenders, socks, etc in the non air conditioned cubby hole that we were sharing. At just the right time, before the ‘Big Ape’ exploded, ‘Wease’ would refrain from angering the giant of a man any further. It was all about ‘timing’ and no one had better timing than Bobby Heenan.”

WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio was apparently not ready to make his official WWE return at this past Monday’s edition of RAW. Apparently WWE officials asked Mysterio to come back since he wouldn’t have to do much on RAW, or at the ten-man match at Survivor Series.

At the SmackDown taping, Mysterio worked a six-man tag match but again only had to do a slight amount of in-ring work towards the end of the match.
