Becky Lynch Thinks Ronda Rousey Should Be Scared Of Her

Current WWE SmackDown Champion, Becky Lynch, is slated to face off against RAW Women’s Champion, Ronda Rousey, next Sunday at Survivor Series, and it’s anyone’s guess as to who has the advantage.

With Becky Lynch having staved off Charlotte Flair’s attempts at her title, and Ronda having successfully retained against Nikki Bella, both women come into this matchup with serious momentum.

This equal footing adds further interest for their inevitable RAW vs SmackDown clash, come November 18th.

“Ronda Has To Be Scared”

Speaking with Gorilla Position, Lynch addressed her upcoming champion-versus-champion confrontation against the former UFC Bantamweight Champion.

The Lass Kicker didn’t mince her words, stating that Ronda should, of all things, be scared.

Lynch, who maintained character for the entire interview, proclaimed that, “[Ronda Rousey] is based on being strong, dominating people, and running through them, and that’s not how I was built.”

“I’m not scared of losing,” she continued, “and I have been taking a beating my entire life and I came back from them time, after time again, and that’s why Ronda has to be scared.”

What are your thoughts on this? With such a high profile clash between both champions, should Ronda be intimidated? Who do you see winning this encounter?

Brock Lesnar Wins Universal Championship, Sets Up Match at Survivor Series

Brock Lesnar is once again the WWE Universal champion. What was originally expected to be a triple threat match, Lesnar ended up in a one-on-one showdown with Bruan Strowman to determine a new champion after Roman Reigns was forced to surrender the belt following the revelation that his battle with leukemia was happening again after going into remission several years ago.

With Reigns out of the match, the WWE moved forward with a singles contest between Lesnar and Strowman.

All signs seemed to point towards Strowman finally ascending to the top of the WWE Raw roster with Lesnar expected to return to the UFC in early 2019 to compete for the heavyweight championship.

That plan may still very well happen but for now Lesnar is champion again after a very short match with Strowman on Friday.

In a carbon copy to many of Lesnar’s most dominant victories in WWE, he landed several ‘F-5’s on Strowman including one where he tossed the behemoth outside the ring. Finally, Lesnar landed one final F-5 that put Strowman down and out.

Lesnar was crowned WWE Universal champion and then just a few moments later his next match was officially announced.

At WWE Survivor Series on Sunday, Nov. 18, Lesnar will return to the ring to face current WWE heavyweight champion A.J. Styles from Smackdown Live.

Obviously, Lesnar is sticking around WWE longer than anyone expected with his plans to return to the UFC in 2019. There’s still plenty of time for the title to change hands before Lesnar would return to the Octagon.

There are also rumors that Lesnar may make a surprise appearance at UFC 230 in New York on Saturday night where Cormier defends his heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis in the main event but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Another Match Confirmed For Survivor Series, Stipulation Announced For Crown Jewel World Cup

Another Match Confirmed For Survivor Series

WWE announced the first Champion vs. Champion match for Survivor Series yesterday confirming that Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey will face SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch.

Now the company has confirmed another similar bout and announced that the Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins will face the United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura at the upcoming Survivor Series PPV.

It’s worth mentioning that this will be the first time these two will compete as Shinsuke debuted on SmackDown after Brand Split returned and Rollins has been on Raw since the beginning of it.

Stipulation Announced For Crown Jewel World Cup

Shane McMahon spiced things up for the upcoming Crown Jewel World Cup tournament with an interesting announcement during the latest episode of SmackDown Live.

The SmackDown Commissioner announced that if any SmackDown Star reaches the final of the tournament and then loses the bout then he will have to leave the show and find a new home for himself.

Jeff Hardy, The Miz, Randy Orton, and Rey Mysterio are the four SmackDown stars who are currently scheduled to compete at the show. It will be interesting to see if this announcement ends up being the start of a new storyline for any of them.

Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey Announced For WWE Survivor Series

The first match has been announced for the upcoming WWE Survivor Series PPV.

As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in Charlotte, NC at the Spectrum Center on the USA Network, WWE revealed that SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch would take on RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey in a champion vs. champion match at this event.

As seen at Sunday’s (October 28, 2018) WWE Evolution pay-per-view event in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on the WWE Network, Rousey beat Nikki Bella to retain the RAW Women’s Title in the main event of this first-ever all-women’s event. On the flip side, Lynch retained her SmackDown Women’s Title against Charlotte Flair in a Last Woman Standing match, which served as the co-headliner.

WWE presents the Survivor Series pay-per-view event on Sunday, November 18, 2018 in Los Angeles, California at the Staples Center that will air on the WWE Network. WWE will be announcing more matches for this show in the coming weeks. This show is considered one out of the big four events for the company throughout the year along with WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, and SummerSlam.

Horsewomen Match Reportedly Planned For Survivor Series

It appears that WWE is finally ready to pull the trigger on a a 4-on-4 Horsewomen feud. As many fans are aware, Ronda Rousey, Shayna Bayzler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir dubbed themselves the Four Horsewomen of mixed martial arts. WWE has its own unofficial Horsewomen group, comprised of Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayley.

With all four MMA Horsewomen under contract with WWE, it was just a matter of time before these two factions crossed paths. According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter,  WWE is planning for Ronda Rousey’s Horsewomen to battle the WWE Horsewomen at Survivor Series in November.

The two groups had a confrontation summer at a TV taping for the inaugural Mae Young Classic tournament. This was long before Ronda Rousey joined WWE. At the time, WWE planting the seed for a 4-on-4 feud seemed like wishful thinking at best. Much as changed since then.

A month before Survivor Series, WWE presents Evolution, the company’s first all-women’s pay-per-view event. Wrestlers from Raw, SmackDown NXT will participate in the historic show. This seems like a natural setting to jumpstart the hype to Survivor Series, but we’ll have to wait and see about that.

WWE Survivor Series takes place on Sunday, November 18th from Los Angeles, California at the STAPLES Center.

Correction On WWE Bringing Back WarGames Again This Year

Earlier this week, we ran a report citing AXS.com that WWE will be bringing back WarGames once again this year for the NXT Takeover event that takes place during Survivor Series weekend. That report has since been debunked and the original article has been removed from that website

WWE revived the beloved WarGames concept match in November for the NXT Takeover event that took place from Houston, Texas. The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly) defeated the Authors of Pain/Roderick Strong and SAnitY in the first-ever WarGames match under the WWE umbrella.

While it’s possible that we could see WarGames return once more, there has been no official announcement regarding the match at this time.

Tickets are now on sale for Survivor Series 2018 weekend, with the Staples Center in Los Angeles playing host to NXT Takeover, Survivor Series, Raw and SmackDown.

Here are 7 takeaways from WWE Survivor Series 2017:

The Shield Put Team RAW Up 1-0

Screen Shot 2017 11 19 at 7.39.52 PM

New Day versus The Shield started off WWE Survivor Series 2017. Dean Ambrose and Kofi Kingston started off the match. Ambrose got the upper-hand and smacked Kingston in the face. Kofi laughed and tagged in Xavier Woods. Seth Rollins got in the match and leveled Woods with a Clothesline.

Big E was tagged in and Rollins tagged in Roman Reigns. Big E knocked Reigns to the mat and mocked him. Reigns got back up and planted Big E with a Samoan Drop. The Shield then Clotheslined Kofi and Big E out of the ring and Woods was left all alone in the ring. The Shield spent the next few minutes taking turns beating the hell out of Woods.

New Day battled back and isolated Dean Ambrose in the corner of the ring and took turns stomping on him. Ambrose was still able to power out of the corner and connected with a Clothesline to Big E. Woods tagged himself in and beatdown Ambrose again in the corner. New Day once again took turns stomping on Ambrose in the corner.

Rollins and Reigns dragged Kofi and Woods off the ring apron. Ambrose connected with a Suicide Dive onto Woods. Ambrose went to get back into the ring but Big E Speared him off the ring apron and to the floor outside the ring. The action returned to the ring and Woods continued the beatdown on Ambrose. Ambrose finally escaped and tagged in Rollins.

Seth connected with a Slingblade onto Kingston for a two count. Rollins Powerbombed Woods into the turnbuckle as Roman Reigns tagged himself in. Reigns hit a Clothesline and then geared up for the Superman Punch. Woods dodged Roman’s first attempt but Reigns connected with his second attempt. Reigns went for a Spear but Woods got his knee up. Big E and Ambrose were then tagged in.

Big E hit a Belly to Belly to Reigns and then everything broke down. Ambrose and Rollins teamed up on Kofi Kingston. Rollins hit the knee and then Ambrose planted Kingston with the Dirty Deeds but Woods broke up the pinfall. Woods then tagged himself in but Rollins connected with a Superkick.

Reigns and Ambrose slammed Big E into the barricade outside the ring. They then walked to the other side of the ring and slammed Kofi Kingston into the barricade. The Shield were going for the Triple Powerbomb but Big E dragged Reigns out of the ring and launched him into the steel steps.

New Day teamed up and beatdown Reigns outside the ring. Back in the ring, Woods connected with a right hand onto Ambrose and then tagged in Big E. Big E lifted Ambrose up onto his shoulders and Kofi and Woods booted Ambrose in the face. Big E lifted Rollins and Ambrose onto his shoulders and Woods and Kofi connected with a double Midnight Hour. Reigns speared Big E.

Both teams slowly stood up and stared at each other from across the ring. The Shield and New Day charged at each other and battled out of the ring. Ambrose planted Big E with the Dirty Deeds and Rollins hit Woods with a knee. Reigns connected with a Spear onto Kofi Kingston outside the ring. Reigns set up on the second rope and The Shield Triple Powerbombed Kofi Kingston off the second rope for the victory.

The Shield and New Day put on an excellent opening match. The crowd was split during this match. At one point they were very behind New Day, but they booed them out of the building when they would not stop stomping on Dean Ambrose during the beginning of the match. Reigns still managed to get a “you still suck!” chant from the Houston crowd.

No One Was Ready For Asuka

Screen Shot 2017 11 19 at 8.10.55 PM

Team SmackDown (Becky Lynch, Carmella, Tamina, Naomi and Natalya) faced Team RAW (Alicia Fox, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Nia Jax and Asuka) in a traditional 5-on-5 Elimination match. Stephanie McMahon gave Team RAW a pep-talk before the match and went over why she believed in each Superstar.

Alicia Fox and Becky Lynch started off the match. Becky dominated early and hit a Leg Drop off the top rope for a two count. Becky went for the Dis-Arm-Her but Fox grabbed the ropes. Bayley tagged herself in and Becky Lynch didn’t notice. Bayley rolled up Lynch and Becky became the first Superstar eliminated.

Team RAW isolated Tamina in the corner for a bit but that didn’t last too long. Tamina powered out of the corner and drove Bayley to Team SmackDown’s corner. Carmella hit Bayley with a Superkick and then Tamina followed it up with a Splash to eliminate Bayley.

Tamina and Nia Jax then got into the ring as the crowd cheered. Nia drove Tamina into the corner and then hit her with a Splash. Nia then connected with a Cannonball for a two count. Nia went for a Samoan Drop but Lana got up on the ring apron. Nia slammed into her but turned around and was greeted by back-to-back Superkick from Tamina. Tamina then hit another Superkick onto Nia outside the ring and followed it up with a Splash off the steel steps. Nia Jax was then counted out.

Alicia Fox was quickly eliminated by Naomi. Sasha Banks immediately got into the ring and applied the Bank Statement to Naomi and Naomi tapped out. It is now down to Carmella, Natalya and Tamina versus Sasha Banks and Asuka.

Asuka eliminated Carmella after she foolishly slapped Asuka in the face. Asuka got pissed and booted Carmella in the face to eliminate her. Sasha Banks and Natalya were then tagged in. Banks hit Double Knees and then locked in the Bank Statement in the middle of the ring. Tamina got into the ring and broke up the hold.

Natalya slammed Banks into the second turnbuckle and then locked in the Sharpshooter in the middle of the ring. Sasha tried to make her way to Asuka in the corner but Tamina sprinted across the ring and knocked Asuka off the ring apron. Banks then tapped out and it was down to Natalya and Tamina for Team SmackDown and Asuka for Team RAW.

Tamina beatdown Asuka and went for a Splash but Asuka got out of the way. Asuka locked in the Asuka Lock and Tamina quickly submitted. Natalya sprinted into the ring and tried to lock in the Sharpshooter. Asuka reversed it into a Knee Bar but Natalya broke free. Asuka connected with a spin kick and then once again applied the Asuka Lock for the victory. Team RAW is up 2-0.

I thought this match was decent. There was barely a build for the Women’s 5-on-5 match and it didn’t feel as special as it should have. It was also completely predictable that Asuka would be the only Superstar remaining. Tamina looked dominant in this match and I wouldn’t mind seeing her finally become relevant on SmackDown.

Baron Corbin Picked Up SmackDown’s First Victory

Screen Shot 2017 11 19 at 8.33.44 PM

Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas accompanied The Miz to the ring. Axel and Dallas kept getting involved in the match. Corbin was on the ring apron and Dallas chop-blocked Corbin’s knee The Miz took advantage and stomped on Corbin’s injured knee.

The Miz applied the Figure Four in the middle of the ring. Corbin slowly made his way to the bottom rope and broke the hold. The Miz charged at Corbin but Baron was ready and planted The Miz with Deep Six for a two count.

Corbin punched Axel outside the ring and then leveled The Miz with a Clothesline. Corbin planted Dallas with the End of Days but The Miz took advantage and once again targeted his attack on Corbin’s knee. The Miz planted Corbin with a DDT for a two count. The Miz hit a Dropkick and went for another one but Corbin caught him and planted him with the End of Days for the pinfall victory.

I wasn’t looking forward to this match at all, but it would up being decent. Ultimately, this match won’t help Baron Corbin at all. Corbin said after the match that he shut everyone up that criticizes him. I don’t think a victory over The Miz is going to stop fans from poking fun at Corbin.

The Usos Are The Class Of The Tag Team Division

Screen Shot 2017 11 19 at 8.59.27 PM

The Usos versus The Bar were up next. Sheamus’ mohawk looked especially ridiculous tonight. The Usos controlled the match early and isolated Sheamus in the corner. Jimmy and Jey took turns stomping on Sheamus in the corner.

Cesaro was tagged in but once again The Usos isolated him in the corner. Cesaro powered out of the corner with a series of uppercuts and tagged in Sheamus. Cesaro connected with an uppercut to Jey Uso. Jimmy Uso hit a Suicide Dive onto Cesaro outside the ring. Sheamus then planted Jimmy with a rolling Senton outside the ring and then brought him back into the ring. Sheamus connected with a Clothesline off the top rope for a two count.

Cesaro got back in the match and applied a Chin Lock. Sheamus got back in the match and continued beatdown by dropping a knee onto Jimmy Uso. Sheamus once again applied a Chin Lock in the middle of the ring. Jimmy escaped the hold but was planted with an Irish Curse Backbreaker for a two count.

Sheamus and Cesaro controlled the next few minutes of the match. Cesaro got the Sharpshooter locked in on Jey Uso but Jey was able to get to the ropes. Jey knocked Cesaro out of the ring and Sheamus charged at Jey and missed and slammed into the ring post. Jey tried to leap onto Sheamus but Sheamus caught him and planted him with the White Noise. Sheamus went for the cover but Jimmy Uso leaped into the ring and broke it up.

Jimmy Uso got launched into the middle rope and then tumbled out of the ring. Cesaro lifted Jey Uso up onto his shoulders as Sheamus was on the turnbuckle. Jey punched Sheamus in the face and planted Sheamus with a Samoan Drop from on top of Cesaro’s shoulders. Jimmy then hit Cesaro with a Superkick as Jey went for the cover on Sheamus but Sheamus kicked out at two.

Jimmy and Jey tried to double Superkick Sheamus but Cesaro got in the way. The Usos then Superkicked Sheamus several times and then connected with a Splash off the top rope for the pinfall victory. Team RAW and Team SmackDown were now tied 2-2.

I was looking forward to this match but feared that WWE wouldn’t give it enough time on the card or that it would be bumped to the Kickoff Show. That didn’t turn out to be the case at all and these two teams put on a very entertaining match. The Usos have simply been awesome on SmackDown recently and they always put on a great match.

The Queen Put SmackDown In The Lead

Screen Shot 2017 11 19 at 9.22.21 PM

Alexa Bliss faced off against Charlotte tonight at Survivor Series. Alexa spent the first minute trying to avoid Charlotte. Alexa and Charlotte battled on the ring apron. Bliss grabbed Charlotte’s arm and leaped down to the floor and Charlotte slammed hard on the floor outside the ring.

Back in the ring, Bliss remained in control of the match and focused her attack on Charlotte’s ribs. Charlotte fought back for a moment but Alexa knocked her back down with a Dropkick. Bliss climbed up to the top rope but Charlotte started moving. Bliss dropped down to the second rope and connected with Double Knees for a two count.

Bliss locked in a Guillotine choke in the middle of the ring but Charlotte was able to power to her feet. Charlotte planted Bliss with a Powerbomb for a two count. Charlotte climbed up to the top rope and went for a Moonsault but Alexa rolled out of the way and Charlotte landed on her injured ribs.

Alexa connected with a big punch and then a DDT. Bliss went for the cover but Charlotte got her foot on the bottom rope to break up the pinfall. Alexa threw a tantrum and shouted at Charlotte to give up. Charlotte connected with a Spear but couldn’t capitilize. Bliss knocked Charlotte to the canvas and climbed to the top rope. Bliss went for Twisted Bliss but Charlotte got her knees up. Charlotte followed it up with a big boot and then locked in the Figure Eight for the submission victory. SmackDown now leads RAW 3-2.

Alexa Bliss dominated most of this match but wound up losing anyway. I thought this was another very good match. This match was originally supposed to be Alexa Bliss versus Natalya but Charlotte won the SmackDown Women’s Championship on this past Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown and replaced Natalya in this match. WWE made the right call because the crowd was definitely into this match.

The Beast Conquered The Phenomenal One

Screen Shot 2017 11 19 at 9.51.55 PM

Heyman took the microphone from JoJo before the match to introduce Brock Lesnar. Dueling “AJ Styles!” and “Suplex City!” echoed throughout the Toyota Center as Lesnar and Styles circled each other. Lesnar trapped Styles in the corner and then launched AJ across the ring.

Brock once again launched AJ across the ring and casually walked over to him with a grin on his face. Brock connected with a ridiculous Suplex that launched Styles across the ring. Lesnar followed it up with a German Suplex and then threw Styles out of the ring.

Lesnar threw Styles into the announce table and then brought him back in the ring. Lesnar connected with another German Suplex. Lesnar connected with a knee to the face and AJ fell to the canvas.

Styles finally connected with a flurry of punches but Lesnar kneed him in the midsection and AJ once again fell to the mat. Lesnar went for the F5 but Styles escaped. Brock charged at AJ in the corner and missed and hit his knee into the turnbuckle. Styles then connected with a DDT and a Dropkick to Lesnar’s knee.

AJ went for a Moonsault but Lesnar caught him and then stumbled backwards and bounced off the ropes while still carrying AJ. Styles went for a Tornado DDT but Lesnar blocked it and Styles crashed to the mat. Styles hit the Pele Kick and then went for the Phenomenal Forearm but Lesnar avoided it. Lesnar then hit a German Suplex and Styles flipped in the air and landed face-first.

Styles knocked Lesnar out of the ring and then connected with a Phenomenal Forearm. Styles then shoved Lesnar into the steel steps and then connected with another forearm. The action returned to the ring and Lesnar connected with a punch. Styles battled back and hit an Enziguri and followed it up with a Moonsault off the second rope. AJ then hit the 450 Splash for a two count.

AJ went for the Styles Clash but Lesnar reversed it and set up for the F5. Styles then countered that into the Calf Crusher in the middle of the ring. Lesnar broke the hold by bouncing AJ’s head off the mat several times. Lesnar went for another F5 but AJ connected with a forearm. AJ then hit the Phenomenal Forearm on Lesnar for a two count. Styles removed his elbow pad and went for another Phenomenal Forearm but Lesnar caught him and hit the F5 for the victory.

Styles and Lesnar put on an excellent match tonight at Survivor Series. I was worried that it was going to be another easy victory for Lesnar as he dominated the first few minutes of the match. The best sequence of the match was when Lesnar went for the F5 and Styles reversed it into the Calf Crusher and then Lesnar escaped the hold by brutally slamming AJ’s head into the canvas. The entire match was great and I’m glad we got to see this instead of Lesnar versus Mahal.

Triple H Went Into Business For Himself

Screen Shot 2017 11 19 at 10.47.27 PM

Team RAW (Kurt Angle, Triple H, Braun Strowman, Finn Balor & Samoa Joe) faced Team SmackDown (Shane McMahon, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Roode, Randy Orton & John Cena) in the main event of Survivor Series.

Braun Strowman and Shane McMahon started off the match. Strowman launched Shane across the ring and Shane quickly tagged Randy Orton. Samoa Joe was then tagged in and locked up with Orton. Joe connected with a shoulder tackle that knocked Orton to the canvas. Orton responded by hitting an elbow and a few upper-cuts to Joe in the corner. Orton went for the RKO but Joe blocked it. Joe went for the Coquina Clutch but Orton was able to avoid it.

Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura were tagged in and the crowd went crazy. The crowd chanted “NXT” as the two Superstars locked up. Balor and Nakamura traded shots and poses for a couple of minutes before Triple H demanded to be tagged in.

Triple H drove Shinsuke into the corner as the crowd chanted “Nakamura”. Triple H connected with a flurry of right hands. Nakamura battled out of the corner and connected with a kick. Triple H connected with a Facebuster and Bobby Roode tagged himself in and had a stare down with Triple H.

Bobby Roode tried to pose in front of Triple H and Triple H punched Roode in the face. Roode battled back and connected with a few punches in the corner. Roode connected with a Clothesline for a one count. Triple H hit a Spinebuster on Roode and then mocked Roode’s pose and transitioned into a “suck it! pose. Roode hit a Spinebuster of his own and then posed in the ring. Triple H went for the Pedigree but Roode blocked it.

Angle was then tagged in and he hit three German Suplexes on Roode in a row. Angle went for the Angle Slam but Roode countered it into an Arm Drag. Both Angle and Roode connected with a Clothesline at the same time and both Superstars fell to the canvas.

Nakamura was tagged back in and he booted Angle in the face and then punched Strowman off the ring apron. Joe and Balor tried to attack Nakamura but Shinsuke connected with a series of kicks. Nakamura then hit the Kinshasa on Triple H as Kurt Angle tagged in Strowman. Braun planted Strowman with the Running Powerslam and Nakamura was the first Superstar eliminated.

Roode hit Strowman with a Blockbuster off the second rope for a one count. Roode went for another Blockbuster but Strowman blocked it and hit another Running Powerslam and Bobby Roode was eliminated. Joe tagged himself in and started shoving Braun Strowman. Triple H and Kurt Angle started shoving each other and Orton knocked them both down from behind. All hell broke loose and Orton planted Joe with a Powerslam.

Braun Strowman then approached Cena and Orton in the corner of the ring. Cena and Orton teamed up and attacked Strowman but Braun shoved them away. Cena and Orton shoved Strowman out of the ring. Strowman connected with a big right hand to Cena and started clearing off an announce table.

Shane paced around the ring for a minute as Strowman, Angle and Triple H waited for him. Triple H tagged himself in and Braun Strowman stared at Triple H before exiting to the ring apron. Braun then grabbed Triple H by the throat and shouted at Triple H to never cross him again. Triple H went for the Pedigree but Braun avoided it and planted Triple H with a Running Powerslam. Strowman then delivered a second Running Powerslam to Triple H and ripped off his Team RAW shirt. Strowman then marched towards the back as Survivor Series went off the air.

I thought that Jason Jordan would somehow get himself involved in this match but he was only shown during Survivor Series in a brief backstage interview. Triple H humiliated RAW GM Kurt Angle tonight and then made sure that he was the one that led Team RAW to victory. It will be interesting to see how this plays out tomorrow night on RAW. Overall, the main event was solid and had some memorable moments with Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode squaring off against Triple H. In the end, it was Braun Strowman who stood tall and closed out Survivor Series.

A Look Into Potential Storyline Swerves At Survivor Series

RAW and SmackDown Live superstars have been building to one event over the last few weeks – Survivor Series.  While no titles are on the line (on the main card), almost every match holds some form of value or purpose.  However, Survivor Series has seen it’s fair share of surprises and upsets in the past, and there is even more potential for betrayals and interferences on Sunday’s PPV.

With this in mind, here is a guide to Sunday’s card and the potential curve-balls that could drastically change Survivor Series and the WWE Universe.

The first three matches don’t appear to hold much potential for shocks or surprises.  The Kick-Off Show starts with Enzo Amore looking to solidify his Cruiserweight Championship against Kalisto, while The Miz and Baron Corbin face off in the first of the Champion VS Champion inter-brand matches.  The newly crowned RAW Tag Team Champions then take on The Usos, in a match that doesn’t have any evidence or theories to support interference (other than from The Miztourage) or betrayals either.

The following 2 matches host WWE’s RAW and SmackDown Live Women’s Division.  The main surprise for the Women’s 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match revolves around SmackDown Live’s 5th and final member of their team.  Some rumours suggest a return for Paige, while others have said that Nikki Bella could feature.

However, there is another exciting opportunity for SmackDown Live’s women’s division in the next match, as Alexa Bliss takes on newly crowned champion: Charlotte.  Most predictions see Little Miss Bliss taking the win, which could leave SmackDown Live’s champion open to attack from Carmella – if she were to cash in her Money In The Bank contract.  There will be hints, that audiences could look out for, which will highlight whether Carmella is planning to cash in her opportunity.  The most obvious is if Carmella gets eliminated early in the 5-on-5 Survivor Series match, pointing towards the need to protect her before a cash-in later on.

Much like the first 3 matches, The Shield VS The New Day doesn’t appear to have any obvious, or subtle, surprises or shocks to look out for.  These all came prior to the PPV as the 2 brands battled and built momentum, as well as re-introducing Roman Reigns and The Shield.

The penultimate match, the Men’s 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match, hosts the potential for three main avenues that WWE creatives could have explored before the PPV.

The first option is to involve Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, betraying their brand by interfering and costing SmackDown Live a win.  The brilliant aspect of this option is that it utilises heat they have picked up inside and outside the ring to develop their characters.

KO and Zayn’s development has been clear as they continue to hold an anti-establishment attitude, ever since Hell In A Cell where Sami turned heel to help Owens defeat Shane McMahon.  This gives the two superstars the perfect motive to cause chaos and create an upset at Survivor Series.

The main issue though is plotting a course for the next steps.  Kevin Owens VS Shane McMahon has already been done, so it’s hard to pinpoint where to go after Sunday, or who they would face at Clash of Champions, The Royal Rumble, or even WrestleMania.

The second and third options for storyline curve-balls in the Men’s Survivor Series match come in the form of Jason Jordan.  Last week’s episode of RAW saw Jordan become injured by the hands of Bray Wyatt, and later replaced with Triple H; despite the pleas and tears from Jordan, RAW team captain Kurt Angle said that he couldn’t risk including his son in the showdown.

It is therefore possible that Jordan appears during the match to seek revenge for his dismissal from the team, going after either Triple H or Kurt Angle.  However an alternate version of events could unfold which sees RAW winning the Survivor Series match, with Kurt Angle as the last remaining superstar.  During the celebration, Jordan could enter the arena to congratulate his dad, only to betray him, with an ironic ankle lock or suplex, to set up a feud for The Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 34.

The final twist that could occur during Sunday’s PPV involves Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles, and Jinder Mahal.  The Modern Day Maharaja has made it more than clear that he shouldn’t be considered an experiment, and that he worked hard to develop as an athlete.  WWE have a good motive to cause an upset and prevent AJ Styles from winning: it would enable the match to end without a clean win which would benefit both brands and superstars.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BbPYTbVDVkl/?hl=en&taken-by=jindermahal

The main problem with Jinder appearing is the question of what would he gain from it?  Mahal already has a contracted rematch, likely to be at the next SmackDown Live PPV, Clash Of Champions.  The interference would certainly create heat and build a feud to lead up to the title re-match, however it’s not necessary, and it may appear as a wasted opportunity for other superstars.

WWE won’t pass up this opportunity to capture our attention, there is too much potential to have the whole event proceed as planned.  Anything is possible in the WWE Universe…

…but please let Jason Jordan come back and attempt to break Kurt Angle’s ankle!

8 Predictions For WWE Survivor Series 2017

WWE Survivor Series 2017 airs on the WWE Network this Sunday, November 19th. The Kickoff Show starts at 5 p.m. ET and the main show begins at 7 p.m.

Enzo Will Still Be Your Cruiserweight Champion

enzo kalisto survivor series

Enzo Amore will defend his Cruiserweight Championship against Kalisto during the Kickoff Show at Survivor Series. On this past Monday’s episode of RAW, Enzo Amore and Drew Gulak defeated Akira Tozawa and Kalisto in a tag team match.

Kalisto has the advantage when it comes to wrestling ability, but I’ve got a feeling that Drew Gulak might interfere and ensure that his friend Enzo Amore remains the Cruiserweight Champion.

The Miz Will Fall Victim To The End Of Days

mizcorbin survivor series

SmackDown’s United States Champion Baron Corbin will square off against RAW’s Intercontinental Champion The Miz this Sunday at Survivor Series. This match wasn’t made official until this past Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown. Baron Corbin defended his title against Sin Cara and after planting Sin Cara with the End of Days. Sin Cara had been a thorn in Corbin’s side for the past few weeks, but he can now finally focus on his opponent at Survivor Series.

Corbin and The Miz have traded shots on social media leading up until this match. The Miz briefly addressed Corbin during this week’s episode of RAW and claimed that Corbin is nowhere close to being on The Miz’s level. Not only is this match a hard match to predict, it is a difficult match to generate any excitement for. Both Corbin and The Miz are heel champions and both have been made to look like fools recently. The Miz constantly relies on outside interference to win matches and Baron Corbin is perfectly capable of losing every match he is a part of.

I’m going to pick Corbin to get the victory on Sunday, simply because a loss won’t damage The Miz at all. Corbin can’t continue to stack up losses and expect to be viewed as a dominant force on SmackDown. The Kickoff Show for Survivor Series is two hours long and as of now the Cruiserweight Championship is the only match on it. I wouldn’t be surprised if this match finds itself on the Kickoff Show as well.

Team SmackDown Will Learn That No One Is Ready For Asuka

Team RAW (Alicia Fox, Nia Jax, Bayley, Sasha Banks and Asuka) will face Team SmackDown (Becky Lynch, Carmella, Naomi, Tamina and a mystery Superstar) this Sunday in a 5-on-5 Elimination match. Charlotte was originally supposed to the fifth member of Team SmackDown, but she captured the SmackDown Women’s Championship on this past Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown and will now face Alexa Bliss at the PPV.

Natalya could wind up being the mystery Superstar to join Team SmackDown. Paige could also make her long-awaited return at the PPV or it could wind up being a Superstar completely off of everyone’s radar. RAW invaded SmackDown this past Tuesday night and the RAW women’s team barged into SmackDown’s women’s locker room. Becky Lynch, Naomi, Tamina and Carmella were beaten down. RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss then connected with a massive punch that knocked Charlotte to the ground.

Even if Paige winds up being the fifth member of Team SmackDown, I’m still picking Team RAW to win this match. There is only one reason for that and that reason is Asuka. She needs to lead her team to victory and should continue to be dominant on RAW for the foreseeable future.

Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens Will Ruin The New Day’s Night

New Day showed up during a RAW main event and cut a promo in the crowd. It was during the main event, in which Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose were defending their RAW Tag Team Championships against Sheamus and Cesaro. RAW GM Kurt Angle rushed the entire RAW roster to the ring because he was paranoid due to the SmackDown roster invading RAW previously. In the end, it was just New Day in the crowd and no other members of the SmackDown roster were with them.

Ambrose and Rollins were distracted by all of the chaos and Sheamus took advantage. Sheamus connected with a Brogue Kick to Rollins, while Cesaro prevented Ambrose from getting back into the ring. Sheamus then covered Rollins and The Bar became the new Tag Team Champions.

On this past Monday’s episode of RAW, Roman Reigns made his WWE return after suffering from an illness. Reigns, Ambrose and Rollins then issued a challenge to New Day at Survivor Series. The Shield showed up as Stephanie McMahon was scolding RAW GM Kurt Angle and defended him. The New Day accepted The Shield’s challenge the following night on SmackDown.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have been battling New Day the past couple of weeks on SmackDown. As of now, Zayn and Owens are not on the Survivor Series card. You’ve got to believe that those two Superstars will make an impact this Sunday and ultimately cost Team SmackDown. Owens and Zayn had a very brief backstage segment on Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown. During the segment, Owens and Zayn complained that they should be facing The Shield this Sunday instead of New Day.

Owens and Zayn are either going to show up during this match or the 5-on-5 men’s match. I’m going to predict that they are going to show up here and cost New Day the match.

The Queen Will Rise Above The Goddess

This match was originally booked as Natalya versus Alexa Bliss. However, Charlotte Flair reclaimed her throne and captured the SmackDown Women’s Championship on this past Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown. Ric Flair then made a surprise return and celebrated with his daughter in an awesome moment.

RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss has proven herself time and time again on RAW. She breezed through a feud with Mickie James and the feud came to an end when Bliss retained her title after connecting with a big-time punch. Bliss employed that same punch to Charlotte’s face on Tuesday night when RAW invaded SmackDown.

Charlotte was enjoying one of the best nights of her career on Tuesday night until Bliss and Team RAW showed up. She had once again become champion and got to share that moment with her father whom had overcome so much this year. One moment Charlotte was on cloud nine, the next she was on the floor after being decked by Alexa Bliss.

Charlotte Flair will get her revenge Sunday night and defeat Alexa Bliss. This is a match that I couldn’t care less who wins, I just cannot wait to see it. Both Charlotte and Alexa Bliss are terrific in-ring performers and I hope this match is given a lot of time on Sunday. The event is 6 hours long so you would think that would be a given, but I’d like to see this one go for 15+ minutes.

The Bar Will Be Taken To The Uso Penitentiary

the bar the usos

This match was going to be Rollins and Ambrose versus The Usos, but New Day showing up on RAW ultimately cost Rollins and Ambrose their RAW Tag Team Championships. Sheamus and Cesaro were guests on Miz TV on Monday’s episode of RAW and vowed to defeat The Usos at Survivor Series. The Bar stated that RAW was the better show and that they will prove they are the best tag team in WWE on Sunday. The Usos responded on Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown and vowed to win the match as well.

As noted earlier, Surivor Series’ Kickoff Show is two hours long and the only confirmed match for that is Enzo Amore versus Kaliso. I think that both The Miz versus Corbin and this match might wind up being a part of the Kickoff Show. I’ve raved about The Usos work for some time now on SmackDown. They have been absolutely terrific since turning heel. Sheamus and Cesaro have established themselves as a great team on RAW. I hope this match stays on the main card because I’m a fan of tag team wrestling. Both of these teams are incredibly talented and wildly underrated. That won’t change if they continually get bumped off the main card.

The Usos have toned down their act in recent weeks. They offered a truce to New Day after their brutal encounter at WWE Hell in a Cell 2017. The Bar are full blown heels and have no problem getting under everyone’s skin. I think that this match will be very solid and in the end The Usos will emerge victorious.

Triple H Will Lead Team RAW To Victory In Spite Of Kurt Angle

Team SmackDown (Shane McMahon, Bobby Roode, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura and John Cena) will battle Team RAW (Kurt Angle, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, Braun Storwman and Triple) this Sunday at WWE Survivor Series 2017.

Team SmackDown fired the first shot leading up to this match when they invaded RAW. Stephanie McMahon then returned and scolded RAW GM Kurt Angle for allowing the invasion to happen. Despite her criticisms, Stephanie McMahon still made Kurt Angle the captain of Team RAW.

Angle liked what he saw in a match between Samoa Joe and Finn Balor and determined that they both deserved to be on Team RAW. Braun Strowman spent a week in a garbage truck after WWE TLC and has beaten the hell out of everyone that has gotten in his way ever since. Thus, Strowman was a no-brainer for Team RAW.

Then Jason Jordan happened. Everything fell apart for Angle when he tried to insert his storyline son into this match. He selected Jason Jordan as the fifth and final member of Team RAW, even though the most impressive thing Jason Jordan had done recently was lob groceries at Elias while he was trying to perform a song.

Angle put all of the members of Team RAW into matches on this past week’s episode of RAW. Jason Jordan faced the returning Bray Wyatt and won via a roll-up. Angle was shown backstage with a gigantic smile on his face backstage after the match as RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon stood next to him with a smile on her face as well. Everything was coming up Team RAW.

Bray Wyatt got pissed off after losing to Jason Jordan and attacked him. The crowd rejoiced as Wyatt slammed Jordan’s knee into the steel post. The crowd serenaded Jason Jordan with “Na-Na-Na-Na, Na-Na-Na-Na… hey hey hey goodbye” as Jordan limped up the entrance ramp. Kurt Angle approached his injured son backstage and said that he didn’t think it would be a good idea for Jordan to compete in the match at Survivor Series. Angle said that he need Jordan at 100 percent. Jason said that he would be fine and pleaded with his father to keep him in the match.

Angle then walked down to the ring and announced that Jason Jordan will not be competing at Survivor Series. Jason Jordan hobbled his way down the entrance ramp and pleaded with his father to reconsider. Kurt Angle was Jason Jordan’s idol growing up. Jordan watched Angle win a gold-freaking-medal with a broken-freaking-neck. It was simply unfathomable that Angle would deny his son the opportunity to overcome adversity and stand side-by-side with this father and childhood idol.

As things turned out, it was out of Angle’s hands. Kurt Angle hesitated to tell his son who his replacement was at Survivor Series. Perhaps it was foolish of Kurt Angle to add Jordan to the match, but Angle knew it was wrong to deny his son the opportunity to compete. Angle hemmed and hawed for a minute until Stephanie McMahon came down to the entrance ramp and demanded that Angle make the announcement. Angle once again hesitated and then Triple H’s music hit.

Triple H walked to the ring with a scowl on his face. He didn’t give a damn about Kurt Angle’s struggle with letting his son down, Triple H’s only concern was getting Team RAW in the best position to succeed at Survivor Series. Triple H announced that he will be replacing Jason Jordan as the fifth member of the RAW men’s team at Survivor Series. Jason Jordan had tears in his eyes as he pleaded with Triple H to keep him in the match.

Triple H glanced at Kurt Angle and then booted Jason Jordan in the chest. Kurt Angle watched in horror as Triple H Pedigreed his son. Triple H then angrily marched up the entrance ramp while muttering to himself as Angle checked on his son.

Team SmackDown is not without it’s conflict as well. SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon decided to invade RAW without informing SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan. Daniel didn’t agree with that decision and went to RAW to try and form a truce with RAW GM Kurt Angle. That didn’t work out too well for Bryan, as he was Chokeslammed in the dark by Kane and then stretchered out of the arena. Bryan is still unhappy with Shane McMahon and informed Shane that the two need to have a conversation following Survivor Series.

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have made it known that they have no allegiance to SmackDown. It is the show they perform on and that is about it. Both Owens and Zayn failed to earn a spot on Team SmackDown when they lost their qualifying matches to Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton. On Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown, The Shield attacked The New Day and Owens and Zayn retreated through the crowd. They didn’t stick up for Team SmackDown on Tuesday night. They simply walked away.

There are a ton of variables and possible interferences that could happen during this match. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens can cost Team SmackDown the match. Kane could show up after Braun Strowman connected with a Running Powerslam through the ring on Monday night. I’m sure Kane wasn’t too pleased with that and maybe he wants to get some revenge on Strowman this Sunday night. Finn Balor and Samoa Joe teamed up Monday night against Gallows and Anderson at the request of Kurt Angle. Joe and Balor got the win, but Joe walked away immediately and didn’t celebrate the victory at all. Joe and Balor clearly don’t like each other and that could come into play this Sunday.

Kurt Angle could be pissed off at Triple H for Pedigreeing his son. Triple H could be pissed off at Kurt Angle for not doing what is best for business. They could turn on each other during the match and cost their team. There have been rumors for some time now that Triple H and Angle are going to have a match at WrestleMania. All of these things can happen Sunday night and that is what makes this match so interesting.

I still come back to Jason Jordan. WWE decided to make Jason Jordan Kurt Angle’s son for a storyline. It fell flat and nobody bought it. The crowd completely rejected Jason Jordan and WWE distanced themselves from the storyline. Jordan was in a meaningless feud with Elias, he teamed up with Matt Hardy for a bit after Jeff Hardy got injured and has generally been wasting away on RAW every week.

Jordan was given the opportunity of a lifetime by his father and it was taken away from him. Angle didn’t stop Triple H from Pedigreeing Jordan. Jason has every right to be pissed off and I think he is going to wind up being the x-factor in this match. I think Jason Jordan will attack Triple H during this match and Kurt Angle will become distracted by it. It will ultimately lead to Angle getting eliminated.

Stephanie McMahon stated that if Team RAW loses at Survivor Series, Kurt Angle will be fired from his position as the RAW GM. Triple H will guide Team RAW to victory, but his conflict with Kurt Angle will be far from over. Team RAW picks up the victory in spite of Kurt Angle.

The Beast Will Conquer The Phenomenal One

AJ Styles Brock Lesnar

This match was originally supposed to be Brock Lesnar versus Jinder Mahal. Paul Heyman even cut a promo on Jinder Mahal and scoffed at Mahal referring to himself as the “Beast master”. AJ Styles captured the WWE Championship from Jinder Mahal on a recent episode of SmackDown and will now face Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series.

AJ Styles versus Brock Lesnar needs no build, but WWE gave us one anyway. Paul Heyman cut a promo on this past week’s episode of RAW and gave the WWE Universe five reasons that they should tune into Survivor Series. Heyman was very complimentary of Styles, but all of his reasons came back to the same point. Brock Lesnar is going to defeat AJ Styles this Sunday.

SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan made his return Tuesday night after being Chokeslammed by Kane on RAW. Daniel Bryan made himself AJ Styles’ advocate for the night and responded to Paul Heyman’s promo. Bryan said that Brock Lesnar has a tendency to quit. Bryan brought up Lesnar quitting WWE in the past and submitting to a “half-assed knee bar” at a UFC event. Daniel claimed that AJ Styles will cause Lesnar to mentally quit at Survivor Series and that will lead him to victory. Styles grabbed the microphone and added that he is going to prove that SmackDown is not the “B show” at Survivor Series and that is the house that AJ Styles built.

After the promo with Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles was shown walking backstage. Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal approached Styles. Mahal said that after Lesnar destroys Styles at Survivor Series, he was going to take back his WWE Championship. Styles smirked and walked away without responding. I wouldn’t be surprised if Jinder Mahal shows up and costs AJ Styles this match. Even if he doesn’t, I don’t see AJ getting the win on Sunday. Lesnar’s matches have been lackluster so far during his Universal Championship reign. Hopefully that changes on Sunday and we get to see the special match that both of these Superstars are capable of.

Current Plans For The Fifth Member Of SmackDown’s Women Survivor Series Team

A lot of people have been guessing that Paige will be revealed as the fifth and final member of SmackDown’s Women Survivor Series team this Sunday, though apparently, that’s not the case.

During the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio Dave Meltzer said that the current plans are for the former Women’s Champion Natalya to fill the mystery spot.

No word yet on what the company is planning for Paige or when or where the former Diva’s Champion could make her return to WWE programming.

As noted before Paige was backstage at this week’s episode of Raw. She was expected to join the female Raw Survivor Series team but officials reportedly altered their plans on last minute.

While there is still time for the upcoming PPV and the plans could still change, it looks more likely that her return will be saved for a later date instead of wasting it on Survivor Series, which already features a packed card.

Survivor Series 2018 Host City Announced

WWE will be returning to the Staples Center in Los Angeles for the 2018 version of the Survivor Series. The promotion broke the news earlier today.

This coming Sunday, the 2017 version of the event will be held in Houston, Texas. In 2015, the event was held in Toronto, ON.

Survivor Series Weekend in 2018

This weekend NXT Takeover: War Games and Survivor Series will both be held in Houston, as will the following night’s edition of Raw. On Tuesday, however, Smackdown will be held in Bossier City.

WWE’s press release regarding the 2018 edition of Survivor Series from Los Angeles will include the Smackdown Live! show on that Tuesday in addition to the other 3 events. Survivor Series 2016 was also a 4-day event in Toronto.

“WWE today announced that Los Angeles will host Survivor Series Weekend in 2018 with NXT TakeOver (Nov. 17), Survivor Series (Nov. 18), Monday Night Raw (Nov. 19) and SmackDown LIVE (Nov. 22) –- all taking place at STAPLES Center over four consecutive nights.

Additional details about these events, including ticket on sale information and travel packages, will be announced in early 2018. “

Can Brock Lesnar Break His Survivor Series Curse?

Since defeating Goldberg at Wrestlemania 34, Brock Lesnar has been considered a dominant Universal Champion who shouldn’t fear many other superstars.  And when looking at some of the facts and figures, it’s hard to disagree.

Lesnar stands second in the table of longest world title reigns at 231 days, with CM Punk’s WWE Championship topping the list at 434 days.  It’s also worth noting that both AJ Styles and Brock Lesnar became 2 time WWE Champions within 2 years of joining WWE.

However there are 2 other sets of statistics that creates even more anticipation.

  1. Brock Lesnar has never been defeated in a 1-1 match that features a new opponent since Goldberg in 2012.
  2. Brock Lesnar has never won at Survivor Series.

So whether Lesnar wins or not, history will be made on Sunday’s Survivor Series.  If AJ Styles wins, he would have become the first person since 2012 to defeat Brock Lesnar in their first 1-1 attempt.  If Brock Lesnar wins though, he’ll have broken his Survivor Series Curse which currently stands at 3 defeats out of 3 appearances.

With all this in mind, let’s take a look back at those 3 defeats to remind ourselves that Lesnar may not be invincible as his recent dominance has shown.

2002 – Brock Lesnar VS The Big Show

brock lesnar big show survivor series

“Brock Lesnar’s never been pinned; Brock Lesnar’s never submitted.” (Michael Cole’s commentary during this match)

This match lasted 4 minutes 18 seconds, it is surprisingly short.  But it contains a shocking betrayal at it’s heart which prevents Brock from securing the win after performing an F5 on The Big Show.  Paul Heyman pulls the referee out of the ring while he is counting Brock’s pin.  The Big Show then uses a steel chair, that Heyman introduced to the ring, to defeat Brock Lesnar and gain the WWE title.

Thankfully this is ancient history for Brock Lesnar, and Paul Heyman won’t be interfering – at least not to help AJ Styles.  I would count this as an unfortunate defeat for Lesnar as it wasn’t necessarily his fault, he was stabbed in the back by those around him.

The other bonus for Brock is that AJ Styles won’t weight the same as The Big Show, so performing an F5 on The Phenomenal One should be easier!

2003 – Team Angle VS Team Lesnar

survivor series 2003 team lesnar e1510687116362

Survivor Series 2003 is an example of Brock Lesnar losing clean.  Not only does he submit, his whole team loses.

Team Lesnar: Brock Lesnar, The Big Show, A-Train, Nathan Jones, Matt Morgan

Team Angle: Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, JBL, Hardcore Holly, John Cena

Hardcore Holly got disqualified early on in the match, beginning the comeback tale.  Cue a mid-match surge from Kurt Angle and a Crippler Crossface from Chris Benoit on Brock Lesnar, with a John Cena finish and there is the underdog team winning in a crowd pleasing fashion.

The key factor here: John Cena.  Lesnar made a play early on to get Cena on his team which didn’t work out as Cena solidified himself as a face within the company, joining Team Angle.

Sunday’s Survivor Series match was carded as Heel Champion vs Heel Champion with Jinder Mahal; however it has now become Heel Champion vs Face Champion, giving the crowd a clear direction for their support which should help create an entertaining atmosphere.

2016 – Brock Lesnar VS Goldberg

wwe news goldberg brock lesnar survivor series match finish who knew face off 1

It seems like only yesterday.  A highly anticipated showdown, with a build up to match it, and it was over in a flash.  It’s almost the opposite to Brock’s match this year, which has had minimal build up in comparison due to the late change to the card.

While this match in 2016’s Survivor Series was another clean defeat, it started Brock on a path that would end up leading him to WrestleMania 33 and the Universal Championship.  In the grand scheme, this was a necessary defeat to enable a greater overall victory and dominant reign.

Within the WWE Universe, it’s clear to say that lack of preparation and strategy lead to Lesnar’s demise.  Since AJ Styles is very different to the likes of Goldberg, Jinder Mahal, Braun Strowman, and Roman Reigns, Brock will want to make sure he’s done his homework.

In theory is appears as though Lesnar would be able to send AJ to Suplex City with an express ticket, which suggests that Styles will adopt a long-play game plan.  I do see Brock VS AJ Styles lasting over 15 minutes as AJ will look to tire out Brock rather than throwing the kitchen sink at him.  If AJ wins, I wouldn’t be surprised if it came through a submission.

Possible Spoiler For Top Survivor Series Match

After this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Triple H has been inserted into this weekend’s traditional RAW vs. SmackDown Live Elimination Tag Team Match at Survivor Series. Jason Jordan was originally scheduled to serve as the team’s final member, however, he suffered a storyline injury in his match with Bray Wyatt and was removed from the team as a result.

Despite constant begging to his on-screen father, Monday Night RAW General Manager, and Team RAW Captain Kurt Angle – Jordan could not retain his spot on the team. He was instead replaced by WWE COO Triple H, who gave Jordan a Pedigree after announcing he was the new final member of Team RAW.

Per a report from Wrestling Observer Radio, Jordan is now expected to turn heel and it’s very likely it happens at Survivor Series. Speculation suggests Jordan costs Team RAW their match this weekend as he targets Triple H or maybe even Angle.

Big Invasion Angle Closes The Final SmackDown Before WWE Survivor Series (PHOTOS & VIDEOS)

Tonight’s WWE SmackDown in Charlotte, NC, which was the final show before Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view, saw the RAW roster finally get revenge on the SmackDown roster for the recent “Under Siege” attacks.

The big brawl started when The Shield interfered in the SmackDown main event, which saw The New Day take on Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. This led to Team Captain Kurt Angle, Braun Strowman, RAW Tag Team Champions The Bar and other red brand Superstars destroying blue brand Superstars, including Team Captain Shane McMahon. SmackDown went off the air with Team RAW standing tall while Team SmackDown struggled to recover.

5 Things To Look Out For At Survivor Series

This weekend, WWE presents the 31st annual Survivor Series event from Houston, Texas. WWE is going all-in with a RAW vs. SmackDown brand supremacy theme this year, with every match on the main card featuring Superstars from opposing brands squaring off.

Over the past several weeks, we’ve seen drastic changes made to the top matches. AJ Styles dethroned Jinder Mahal to become the new WWE Champion last week. In turn, he bumped Mahal out of the main event and earned the right to face the most dangerous Superstar on the roster, Universal Champion Brock Lesnar.

Sheamus and Cesaro recently captured the RAW tag team championships, altering previously announced Shield vs. Usos tag match and setting up The Shield vs. The New Day. Additionally, Kurt Angle, John Cena and Triple H have been added to the men’s RAW vs. SmackDown team elimination match, adding some big-time star power to that match.

A show that a lot of fans were indifferent towards is now must-see. Ahead of Sunday’s pay-per-view, here are 5 things we’re looking out for at WWE Survivor Series.

Which Brand Reigns Supreme

raw vs smackdownFollowing the Brand Extension that took place in July 2016, last year’s Survivor Series featured three RAW vs. SmackDown matches. Team RAW was victorious in the Women’s 5-on-5 match as well as the 10-on-10 tag team elimination match. Team SmackDown won the 5-on-5 men’s match, with Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt being the last two men standing for their team. RAW got the upper hand last year, but SmackDown won the higher-profile match.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAGFPtCMFAE

This year’s Survivor Series features 7 inter-brand matches, including:

  • Brock Lesnar vs. AJ Styles (Universal Champion vs. WWE Champion)
  • Men’s 5-on-5 Team Elimination Match
  • Alexa Bliss vs. Natalya (Women’s Champion vs. Women’s Champion)
  • Women’s 5-on-5 Team Elimination Match
  • The Bar vs. The Usos (Tag Champs vs. Tag Champs)
  • The Miz vs. Baron Corbin (IC Champion vs. US Champion)
  • The Shield vs. The New Day

While there is nothing at stake in the battle of the brands (the 30th Royal Rumble spot would have been a good prize), reigning supreme at Survivor Series would give the RAW or SmackDown authority figures sufficient bragging rights.

We predict that RAW will get the edge and win 4 out of the 7 matches. Going by what we feel is most likely to occur, we say Brock Lesnar defeats AJ Styles (more on that later), the Women’s Team RAW defeats the Women’s Team SmackDown (more on that later), The Shield isn’t losing their first big 6-man tag match and Alexa Bliss is portrayed much stronger than Natalya. That leaves the men’s Team SmackDown, The Usos and Baron Corbin picking up wins, so it’s not too one-sided.

How Brock Lesnar Is Protected

Brock Lesnar

It’s no secret that WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar is on a long-term collision course with Roman Reigns that will most likely culminate at WrestleMania 34.

Had Lesnar vs. Jinder Mahal actually occurred, any outcome other than Lesnar completely annihilating the Modern Day Maharajah would have been a tough sell. Thankfully, the wrestling gods smiled down upon us and not only put the WWE Championship on AJ Styles, but also gave us the Lesnar vs. Styles dream match would have otherwise been left to fantasy booking.

Lesnar vs. Styles has the makings of a classic. Lesnar is still entirely capable of delivering when it counts, but he’s drawn criticism for some uninspired matches that rely on the limited ‘Suplex City’ formula. Good thing he’ll be working with the best wrestler in the company on Sunday.

This is the match we are most looking forward to at Survivor Series, but the need to keep Lesnar strong headed into WrestleMania season (is it almost December already) tells us that he’ll be standing tall when all is said and done.

Asuka’s Role In The Women’s 5-on-5

asuka wins

Asuka has finally arrived on the main roster. The undefeated former NXT Women’s Champion is instantly a threat to every woman on the RAW brand, especially RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss.

However, for whatever reason, her positioning on RAW has been somewhat lackluster thus far. After two surprisingly-competitive matches against Emma, WWE has gotten things back on track by featuring her in short matches against ‘local competitors’ on RAW.

Survivor Series is the perfect opportunity to unleash Asuka. Let her dominate and eliminate several women on Team SmackDown. A strong showing against the likes of Charlotte and Becky Lynch would re-establish Asuka as the most dangerous woman on either brand. Heck, take it a step farther and show her RAW teammates being fearful of what they have to deal with on Monday nights.

Asuka is going to raise hell at Survivor Series, which is why we’re picking the Women’s Team RAW to be victorious.

Carmella Cashing In

Carmella has held the Women’s Money in the Bank briefcase since June. Since then, she’s been a dark cloud hanging over SmackDown’s women’s division, waiting for the perfect moment to cash in.

Tuesday’s SmackDown saw Charlotte capture the SmackDown Women’s Championship in her home town. In doing so, she moves into the Women’s Champion vs. Champion match at Survivor Series.

Win, lose or draw, SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte will be vulnerable after battling Alexa Bliss. A cash-in was probably more likely with Natalya as champion – but it’s still something to be on alert for.

Superstars Not Booked On The Show

Jinder Mahal

Survivor Series is a stacked show with all hands on deck. Even with several tag matches (including a 6-man tag and the two 5-on-5 traditional team elimination matches), there are still several prominent Superstars without advertised matches, including:

  • Jinder Mahal
  • Kevin Owens
  • Sami Zayn
  • Rusev
  • Matt Hardy
  • Dolph Ziggler
  • Jason Jordan
  • Elias

With so many big names on the sidelines for one of WWE’s biggest shows of the year, don’t be surprised to see some outside interference from at least one of them.
