Opinion: WWE WrestleMania Backlash was a very good show. The zombie Lumberjack match was the low point of the PPV but every other match delivered. The Triple Threat match was fun as hell and the Universal Championship match felt like a war. I hope Cesaro gets his moment in the future but it is impossible to take the title off Roman Reigns right now. He has been incredible as the Tribal Chief and it will be interesting to see who his next opponent is.

Just three weeks ago, they retained the straps against The Street Profits on SmackDown. Two weeks ago, the Mysterios defeated Otis & Gable. Last week’s show saw The Street Profits & Bianca Belair defeat Ziggler, Roode & Bayley in a six-person tag match.

Ripley beat Asuka for the strap at the WWE WrestleMania 37 pay-per-view event last month from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

There had been speculation that WWE would have Charlotte Flair wrestle either Asuka or Ripley at this show since she had been cutting promos about the two stars since returning to television a few weeks ago.

Top of the Food Chain

“I’m at top of the food chain,” Strowman declared. “I eat everything that’s in my path, and the Strowman Express is just rolling. I’m rolling through WWE WrestleMania Backlash and I’m coming out the backside the new WWE Champion.”

WWE Makes Change To Top Title Match At WrestleMania Backlash

WWE has made a change to the scheduled WWE Title Match at WrestleMania Backlash.

Originally, Bobby Lashley was supposed to WWE Title against Drew McIntyre in a one-on-one match. However, on Monday’s Raw, Strowman beat McIntyre in the main event to earn the right to be added to the match and make it a triple threat match.

On this show, Strowman and McIntyre argued at the start. First, Strowman beat Mace and T-Bar in a handicap match only for it to be turned back into the originally advertised tag team match that saw Mace and T-Bar go over via count out.

Strowman went to WWE official Adam Pearce later on and demanded a match with McIntyre in the headliner and if he won then he would be added to the WrestleMania Backlash title match. That happened after McIntyre was distracted by Lashley, MVP, T-Bar and Mace, so now it’s a three-way.

WWE holds the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view event on Sunday, May 16, 2021 from Tampa, Florida at Yuengling Center, which will air on Peacock.

WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair vs. Bayley is the only other title match confirmed for this show.

Bayley Says That Bianca Belair ‘Got Lucky’ at WrestleMania 37

WWE Superstar Bayley will be taking on Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania Backlash.

Appearing on Talking Smack, Bayley said how Belair ‘got lucky’ in her WrestleMania 37 Night 1 main event win over former Champion Sasha Banks.

“Alright, she got lucky” Bayley began on the WWE Talk Show. “You know what? This little honeymoon phase of hers? It’s done for! I’m back! She had her little luck in the Royal Rumble. She had a lot of luck at WrestleMania.”

Bayley on Bianca Belair

“You know how many times I’ve beaten Sasha Banks?” Bayley continued. “You don’t see me with balloons everywhere. Dancing with my husband, get a life! This is our profession. You’re not at home, sister. And now you’re going to walk back into the ring with Bayley.”

Bayley of course was not part of a match for WrestleMania 37. It was rumored that the former WWE Women’s Champion would host her ‘Ding Dong, Hello’ segment at the show of shows and re-introduce Becky Lynch to the WWE Universe. This of course never came to pass and we still await the return of Lynch.
