  • *Spoilers* WWE Superstars Taping Results For This Week’s Show

    EVENT: WWE Superstars
    FROM: Indianapolis, Indiana
    RESULTS BY: Matt Boone (@MBoone420)

The following matches were taped in Indianapolis, Indiana on Monday night, prior to the post-Survivor Series edition of RAW, for this week’s WWE Superstars episode.

-Jack Swagger def. Curtis Axel in the opening match of the taping. Swagger, who was accompanied by his manager, Zeb Colter, received an outstanding ovation from the fans in attendance. Axel, on the other hand, received basically no reception at all.

    – The Usos def. The Slater Gators in a decent tag-team contest which served as the main event of the taping. The team of Heath Slater and Titus O’Neil garnered a decent comedic reaction throughout the bout, as this was basically designed as a goofy, fun style match.

  • Confirmed Match For WWE Main Event, Sgt. Slaughter Returns On RAW

    – It was announced during the post-Survivor Series edition of WWE RAW on Monday night that one of the key matches on this week’s edition of WWE Main Event, which airs live Tuesday night on the WWE Network, is Kane vs. Dean Ambrose.

    – Also on Monday’s RAW was the return of WWE Hall Of Famer Sgt. Slaughter. Slaughter took part in a segment where Rusev and Lana were forced to recite the “Pledge of Allegiance.” They never actually did so, as Rusev tried bullying Slaughter until Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter came to the rescue.

  • Small Potential Spoiler For Tonight’s SmackDown Taping, SD! Viewership For 8/29

    – The Friday, August 29th edition of WWE SmackDown averaged 2.730 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. That marks an increase in viewership from the previous week’s show, which averaged 2.461 million viewers. SmackDown was the highest rated original program on cable television last Friday night.

    – In a likely sign that the storyline between Jack Swagger and Bo Dallas will continue at tonight’s WWE SmackDown television taping, Zeb Colter tweeted the following, almost identical to the tweet he posted prior to RAW on Monday:

  • WWE Raw Report Card (9/1)

The WWE rolled through midwest tonight, as they set up shop in Des Moines, Iowa. This week’s card featured a total of eight matches, including a life changing six-man tag main event. It’s time to once again take the WWE to school, and I’ll be the one doling out the grades.

As always, matches will be graded based on usual factors such as workrate, in-ring psychology, move variety, crowd reaction, and overall impact on the storyline. Important in-ring promos will also be graded based on factors such as originality, believability, and importance. Without further ado, here is this week’s Raw report card.

    Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel

    chris-jericho-ses-2

Tonight’s show started with Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel, and featured a shitload of guests, including the Authority, John Cena, and Roman Reigns. There was some entertaining banter during the segment, including Triple H and Jericho hurling corny insults at one another as Jericho dissed Triple H’s pink tie, while the Game chose to attack Y2J’s scarf during a hilarious back and forth. Rollins was extremely over during the promo and got the biggest pop of the night in his home state. Cena threatening to sue the company was pretty lame, however, and held the promo back a bit. It was an overall decent segment, it set up the main event, and the crowd seemed to be into it.

    Grade: B

Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler vs. Cesaro and the Miz

    the-miz-ses-1

The first match of the night was a tag team match featuring the United States and Intercontinental Champions. The Miz showed up with his body double Damien Mizdow and a personal stylist, complete with chairs and makeup. Miz and Sandow were hilarious throughout the contest and the ending was solid. Ziggler and Cesaro also worked well together during the opening portion of the match, with Cesaro’s fall away slam into a pinning combination being one of the most impressive spots I’ve seen in a long time. Overall, it was an entertaining contest and was a good way to advance both feuds.

    Grade: B+

  • Zeb Colter Returns On RAW, Eva Marie On Cover Of “Iron Man” Magazine

    – It was announced on Monday’s edition of WWE RAW in Des Moines, Iowa that Total Divas star and WWE Diva Eva Marie is on the cover of the latest issue of “Iron Man” magazine, which is available on newsstands now.

    – Also on Monday’s RAW, Jack Swagger’s manager — Zeb Colter — finally made his return to WWE television. Colter had not appeared on WWE television since the SummerSlam “Flag Match” between Swagger and Rusev.

  • Update On Zeb Colter’s WWE TV Return, Labor Day To Hurt RAW Numbers This Week

    – More likely than not, the Labor Day Holiday is going to negatively affect the rating for tonight’s edition of WWE RAW. Traditionally, Labor Day specifically hurts the ratings for hour one of RAW. Next week, WWE begins competing on Monday nights with NFL games, as Monday Night Football premieres with a double-header on September 8th.

    – Reports are that Zeb Colter is expected to return to WWE television imminently. As noted, Colter resurfaced on Twitter on Sunday and announced that he is back.

  • Update On Zeb Colter’s WWE Status, Reason Jericho/Orton Weren’t On RAW

    – The reason that Chris Jericho and Randy Orton were not on this past Monday’s edition of RAW was because WWE gave the two some time off. As noted, both are scheduled to return at next week’s RAW, where Orton will be a guest on Jericho’s “Highlight Reel” segment.

    – Zeb Colter has been telling friends that he suffered an injury as a result of the stiff kick he took from Rusev at the SummerSlam pay-per-view. There is also a story making the rounds that claims Colter was injured outside the ring as well.

  • Update On Zeb Colter’s WWE Future, Kevin Nash On The JBL & Cole Show (Video)

    – There has been no mention of Zeb Colter’s character being dropped from WWE storylines, however it’s worth noting that he was kept off of RAW and SmackDown this week after taking the kick from Rusev at SummerSlam.

  • Rusev and Swagger: Getting Everyone Over

When it comes to the fifty stars and thirteen bars, no one is more proud of Old Glory than Zeb Colter. Jack Swagger’s “founding father” has transformed in recent weeks from a protectionist bigot into a proud veteran hell bent on defending his country and its freedoms.

Along the way, Swagger and Colter have battled the Russian duo of Rusev and Lana. Both groups have delivered passionate promos in recent weeks, with Lana belittling Americans for their supposed weakness, while Colter and Swagger have done everything in their power to rid the WWE of the foreign menaces.

Zeb Colter has refreshed his character during the program by turning face.
Zeb Colter has refreshed his character during the program by turning face.

Swagger had his first chance to eliminate the Putin-praising Bulgarian last month at Battleground, but was ultimately unsuccessful after losing via countout. He will have another chance this Sunday at SummerSlam, as the two will again square off, this time in a flag match.

The program between Rusev and Swagger is the classic WWE feud between a monster foreign heel and an American savior. Programs such as this one are usually about as trite and cliché as a teenage romantic comedy, but this program has benefited both parties.

Swagger’s face turn helped add more depth to he and Colter’s characters, who were honestly becoming a bit stale prior to the program. More importantly, however, it has finally gotten Rusev and Lana over after weeks of lukewarm reactions.

During their last meeting, Swagger and Rusev worked surprisingly well together, putting on an entertaining contest that was full of impressive spots. However, those who have benefited most may in fact be the managers.

  • Swagger vs. Rusev At Battleground, Bret Hart & Chris Jericho Backstage Interviews

    – On Monday’s RAW, Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger challenged Rusev to a match at Battleground, so it looks like that match will be taking place at the pay-per-view.

    – Recently retired WWE Superstar Santino was backstage at Monday night’s RAW in Montreal.

    – WWE returns to the Bell Centre in Montreal on October 17th for a live event. Tickets are now on sale.

    – Here are this week’s RAW fallout videos, featuring backstage interviews with The Usos Bret Hart and Chris Jericho.

The Usos and referee Dan Engler speak about the confusion that happened during Jimmy & Jey’s match against The Wyatt Family.

Bret Hart comments on his return to Montreal.

  • Jack Swagger: A Shot at Redemption

Today is the all-important day where Americans celebrate their independence by consuming large amounts of alcohol and grilled fare. No WWE superstar claims to have America’s best interests in mind more than Jack Swagger.

The so-called Real American, accompanied by his founding father Zeb Colter, has advocated an isolationist domestic policy that is free of illegal immigrants. Along the way, Swagger has made national headlines by entering into a feud with conservative radio host Glenn Beck.

It appeared that Swagger was in the midst of a massive push while bickering with Beck, having just defeated accomplished stars such as Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, and Daniel Bryan to earn a chance to compete against Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 29.

Swagger and Colter made national news in 2013 after attracting the attention of Glenn Beck.
Swagger and Colter made national news in 2013 after attracting the attention of Glenn Beck.

Unfortunately for Swagger, he was arrested for DUI and possession of marijuana, ending what could have been a classic feud between a border-protecting nationalist and an immigrant Mexican. Del Rio defeated Swagger at WrestleMania and the Real American was quickly shifted out of the main event scene.

Since aligning himself with Zeb Colter, Swagger has always acted as a heel, often using cheap heat as a way to get his character over. However, it seems as if a face turn could be just around the corner.

In recent months, Rusev has been dominating the WWE roster, taking out superstars such as Big E, Kofi Kingston, and R-Truth. Much like Swagger, Rusev has also used cheap heat as a way to build his character, praising Vladimir Putin and Russia along the way.

Rusev was up to his usual antics this past week when the crowd actually started chanting for Jack Swagger. Colter and Swagger defended America by taking out Rusev and acting as faces for the first time since joining one another. Unsurprisingly, Colter cut an amazing promo on Rusev and Lana, perfectly setting up what could be an entertaining feud.

  • Vince McMahon’s Shrinking Wealth, Adam Rose Encouraging Swagger To Dump Zeb

    – With WWE stock taking a catastrophic hit since WrestleMania XXX (dropping from $31 to $11), WWE CEO Vince McMahon has lost around $842 million of personal wealth. He’s still worth around $700 million. A source close to Vince says that he’s very bothered by the media coverage of him no longer being a billionaire.

    – In honor of Memorial Day, WWE is donating a portion of today’s WWEshop.com proceeds to the Hire Heroes USA organization, which helps veterans transition from military service to civilian life.

    – Adam Rose has been tweeting about Jack Swagger, encouraging him to break away from Zeb Colter, who he has dubbed a “grumpy super lemon.”

“Do you think if Jacky boy got away from grumpy pants @WWEZeb he would want to party? I think so! I think we should start a campaign to separate jacky boy and @WWEZeb!

Let’s free Jacky from the grumpy super lemon!!! #wwe #rosebud #FreeJackyBoy from @WWEZeb!!!! Let’s try get this message out! #wwe #rosebud”

  • (Spoilers) WWE Superstars Taping Results For This Week

The following are results of the matches taped for this week’s edition of WWE Superstars. The matches took place prior to Monday’s WWE RAW show, which was taped in the afternoon at the O2 Arena in London, England.

    – Big Show def. Titus O’Neil in the opening match of the evening. Show ended up picking up the win via pin fall after hitting O’Neil with a chokeslam.

    – Jack Swagger (with Zeb Colter) def. Cody Rhodes (with Goldust) via submission in the main event of the show. The finish saw Swagger lock Rhodes up in his Patriot Lock submission hold, forcing him to tap out.

  • 5 Potential Tag Team Title Challengers

It seemed as if the tag team division had been revitalized last year. However, almost as soon as fans started to become excited about the division again, half of the teams were broken up and it has been largely ignored.

The Usos are the current champions, and I think their pay-per-view exposure shows how confident the WWE is that the Uso brothers will draw. After all, they defended their tag titles on the pre-show at WrestleMania and did not appear in any capacity at Extreme Rules.

With that said, it would not take much effort to get the division back to where it was at the end of last year. Here are five current or potential tag teams that could help make the division relevant again (or at the very least, get it onto the pay-per-view card).

    rybaxel

    5. Rybaxel – At first, this team seemed like it would go nowhere. They had both just basically flopped while under the tutelage of Paul Heyman, so why would anyone believe that they would fare well without him? Surprisingly, both have improved since leaving Heyman, especially Ryback. He is hilarious on the microphone and can actually be pretty entertaining when he’s allowed to speak. I think the WWE still has plans to push both guys in the future, and a run with the Tag Team Championships could help elevate both superstars.

    dolph-ziggler-vs-damien-sandow-w-620x350

    4. Damien Sandow and Dolph Ziggler – These guys have adopted similar personality traits in recent weeks, most notably because both guys seem disgruntled, annoyed, and displeased that their talents are not being properly utilized. Sandow and Ziggler would make a great team if paired together, as both are impressive in the ring and on the mic. There were rumors a while back of a possible stable of disgruntled superstars being formed, including Ziggler and the Miz, but a team of Sandow and Ziggler would work even better and could make the tag title picture exciting again.

    20120802_SD_Swagger_Rhodes_2

    3. Jack Swagger and Cody Rhodes – It is no secret that Zeb Colter has been trying to recruit a new member to the Real Americans since Cesaro betrayed him a few weeks back. With Cody being the son of the American Dream Dusty Rhodes, it would make sense for him to become a Real American. Cody and Goldust are definitely going to part ways soon, with Cody likely being the one to turn heel, so it would provide the perfect opportunity for Cody to align with Swagger and Colter afterward.

  • Details On Changes To The WWE European Tour Due To Daniel Bryan’s Injury

WWE kicks off their European tour today with their first stop in Glasgow, Scotland. With Daniel Bryan off of the tour due to injury, here is the updated list of talent that is scheduled for this part of the tour: Kane, The Shield, Big E, Rob Van Dam, Bad News Barrett, Big Show, Randy Orton, Mark Henry, Ryback, Curtis Axel, Paige, Layla, Fandango, Cameron, Naomi, Jack Swagger, Zeb Colter, Sin Cara, Rusev, Lana and more.

Originally, Bryan vs. Kane in a “Last Man Standing” match was being advertised, but with Bryan’s injury, that is obviously off the table. As of right now, no new opponent or match for Kane has been announced.

Also advertised for this leg of the tour is a six-man tag-team match featuring The Shield vs. Randy Orton, Ryback and Curtis Axel.

  • Backstage News On Adam Rose’s Debut, Good News For Barrett & More

    – The WWE Network’s next ‘Beyond The Ring’ special will premiere this Saturday night at 8pm EST and features the Big Show.

    – Former NXT star Adam Rose made his WWE television debut on Monday’s RAW in a brief segment with Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger. Rose did not wrestle and his physicality was limited to clearing Jack Swagger from the ring. According to PWInsider.com, the decision for Rose to not wrestle in his first appearance was made so his character can be slowly introduced to the audience. While the debut came off as somewhat flat on television, fan reports have stated that he was very over.

    – WWE Intercontinental champion Bad News Barrett tweeted some ‘good news’ on Tuesday:

  • Sheamus To Defend Title On SmackDown, Notes On Adam Rose’s WWE Debut

    – It was announced during Monday’s post-Extreme Rules edition of WWE RAW that the new WWE United States Champion Sheamus, who won the title by winning a 20-man battle royal to open RAW, will have his first title defense this Friday night on WWE SmackDown.

    – Adam Rose made his WWE debut on Monday’s RAW. He appeared in the third hour in a segment with Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter. While Colter was reading his “deportation list,” Rose’s music interupted him. He came out partying with his friends. He told Colter not to be a lemon, but instead be a Rose-bud. Colter ordered Swagger to attack him, but Rose caught him with a big boot and threw him out of the ring. Rose and his friends partied in the ring to end the segment.

  • Scott D’Amore Speaks On Creating Knockouts Division, Edge, WCW/TNA & More

The following are highlights of a new VOC Nation interview with Scott D’Amore:

On his favorite promotion to work for, WCW, & TNA: “I mean, if you’re talking about as far as for the professional fulfillment, it would have to be TNA. Because, obviously, I was pretty deeply involved there, having headed the creative team & been pretty deeply involved for the better part of wrestling for about 8 years. So certainly professionally & financially, that was by far the best run of my career. Everyone says they want to be a booker. That’s when I learned I really enjoyed the TV aspect of it. I had Jody Hamilton. He kind of the first person to really help teach me something as far as what goes on & into producing a wrestling TV show.”

On the Canadian Destroyer [flip piledriver]’s origin & his student, Petey Williams: “Well, it’s kind of funny in the wrestling business. There’s all this talk about how everybody steals things & everybody takes credit for this or that. It always seems it’s never the guy that gets the credit. Personally, I did not ‘invent’ the Canadian Destroyer. From my understanding of things, it was basically created because Chris Sabin, who’s another one of our graduates, used to take like a Frankenstein-er but backwards. The guy would actually jump off the rope backwards & basically backflip moonsault into taking a hurricanrana. So, then the thought process was, from there, they came up with it on a road trip. It was a move that basically anybody could do to Chris Sabin because he liked taking that backflip bump. When we got Petey Williams to TV, the guys were talking about different things as far as how to get Petey stand out. If i deserve any credit for creating the Canadian Destroyer because I wanted people to look at Petey & have people give a “holy sh*’ reaction, have him do the flip piledriver.”

On trust & today’s wrestlers in wrestling industry: “There’s a lot of things in wrestling that are trust-based. You’re giving your body to your opponent & trusting that he’s not going to knock you out or really hurt you or injure you. Certainly, a move like the Canadian Destroyer, there’s a lot of faith. That’s basically what our business is built on. You give somebody your body & they give you theirs & when you do it right, you put on a fantastic athletic demonstration & entertain the Hell out of people. It’s amazing when you think about the unbelievable athletic feats that wrestlers pull off on a nightly basis. A lot of trust to have to go out there & perform. It’s amazing the wrestlers don’t get hurt. It’s a testament to the business. The guys right now are such phenomenal athletes. I think there are guys out there performing in the top level now are as good as an athlete as there’s ever been in wrestling. Much better than in some years past. I think as good as other athletes in different sports. Great caliber athletes right now.”

On creating TNA’s Knockout Division and working with Dutch Mantell: “We had a terrific group of girls who formed the Knockout Division. I really enjoyed working hand-in-hand with Dutch Mantel [WWE’s Zeb Colter] on the creative & producing side & helping structure & created that division from scratch. That was an amazing experience. I wasn’t in TNA from Day 1 so I didn’t get to experience that. I was there when we launched on Fox. I was the director of Creative when we went on Spike. That was awesome. Creative there to me was me & Dutch taking something that some people laughed at, which was saying we were going to present Women’s Wrestling in a serious tone… & it was going to be well-received. 97% of the credit goes to the girls & then probably 2.8% goes to it Dutch, & I’ll take the other .2%. I had a blast doing it. I enjoyed it. I worked my butt off trying to work for those girls & make sure we presented quality matches because some of them weren’t overly experienced so we really had to work. Learn everyone’s strengths & work really hard to hide their weaknesses. I think that me & Dutch & the whole group there did a fantastic job at doing that there for a couple of years when we first launched. ”

On Edge: “Adam [Edge] was very gracious in his DVD to even think of my name, that’s the kind of guy he is. Edge & Christian. Edge is a TV star now. He’s not going to be in the wrestling school teaching hip tosses but he’s always been supportive. He’s supporting wrestling & the community. I mean I remember Edge when he was at the height of WWE, calling a boy here in Windsor who went through some pretty heinous stuff & Edge couldn’t make it here to see the kid… That would have been fantastic but he couldn’t do it. He sent stuff to the kid & then, more importantly, spent time on the phone & talked to him”

On working with Zeb Colter: “It’s been great. Zeb has been in this business for four decades. The knowledge is huge. It’s always great to listen to him talk and see how he thinks and what he thinks about things. It’s been great and awesome to work with him.”
